Mr. Fridkin was fantastic! He's very passionate about his job and you can tell he enjoys teaching. His class was very easy if you show up and pay attention to his lectures. All of his quizzes are open-book and you have his slides available for them. I would definitely take him again!
He's passionate about subject matter, very intelligent, well spoken, funny, and a good person. He lets students know what's expected and answers any questions you might have. Gives cool PowerPoint presentations, 10 quizzes, , read book, and we had to do a 5-10 minute chapter presentation. Would take again in a heartbeat and I'll miss this class.
Initially took the class because I recognized the name, only to realize he was the original bassist for Against Me. His class however was well worth my time. He is an amazing professor, very knowledgeable, and taking his class is well, well worth your time.
Great Professor. Energetic and gives good lectures. Loves to discuss baseball.
We never had a test, only a quiz online each week that was pretty easy. Final was optional, but there is a mandatory paper at the end. He is willing to help you with everything and he is super nice. He knows a lot about history and really enjoys it. I suggest taking him if you can.
Prof. Fridkin is there for his students. If you have an issue or don't understand something just e-mail him and he will get back to you, usually the same day. I highly recommend taking him. You will have a quiz weekly so make sure you have your book ready as it is open book open notes. He makes you think outside the box in the discussions and HW.
Great Teacher. Smart Guy. Great lectures. Learned alot
He's a cool guy vary laid back easiest class I took all year I would take him again.
Love his class! His lecture are very interesting! There are 2 reactions paper 20%, 10 quizzes every Friday 35%, 1 final 15%, some class discussion. I advise you to get the book because you need it for your quiz. Attendance is MANDATORY! Final was simple, just follow his key concept (study guide). Final 40 questions and 5 short response.
Although he's an adjunct, I find professor Fridkin as one of the more qualified at Santa Fe. He deeply cares about his students and spends ample time grading and giving highly detailed feedback. He has a decent workload but if you're willing to do the work he is more than willing to help you along the way. If you put forth the effort its an easy A.
Professor Fridkin was awesome. He went "off topic" some of the times during his lectures but it showed his wide range of knowledge on the subjects at hand & was really thought provoking. He doesn't just sit his desk & read off a power point presentation (like most teachers), but he goes into great details that really helps understand the topics
Professor Fridkin has a very clear syllabus...I appreciated that. BUT, he gives very few 100's where they are deserved. He is one of those professors that believes assignments hardly ever deserve a 100% vs. professors who give 100's to students who work their hardest and are the best in the class. Id take this again but it was hard for 6wks. :
Mr. Fridkin is an awesome professor! No exams, just weekly quizzes which require minimum reading from the chapters in the textbook & a final at the end of the semester. Attendance is mandatory but it makes up for his easy curriculum.
I took this class once a week on Thursday nights for three hours. Weekly quizzes, book is very useful. No exams, you get credit for showing up so just do it. I'm a dual enrollment student. Great class and great Professor. I would take him again and again.
Super nice professor and he really cares about the subject and his students. 10 question quiz every week that were easy. 1 four page paper about any topic you want and the final. Easy A definitely recommend this professor
Great teacher. Loves what he teaches so makes it fun
Nicest and most down to earth professor you can have the pleasure of having. Weekly ppt presentation + 10 question quiz. Extremely easy class and lax grader. Textbook was wonderful and interesting. Policy paper is intimidating but not too bad. He tells you exactly what is on final and its just 45 multiple choice. Just don't slack off on quizzes.
While its lecture heavy his classes are not mandatory. You can learn everything you need to know from the textbook and pass the class. He's very funny and nice and the tests for not long and he is an easy grader.
Even though this is a lecture heavy class. He makes the material easy to understand and answers any question in depth to make sure the students understand. Test are pretty easy and straightforward in terms of answering. But beware you do have to write a paper towards the end of the semester.
He is super awesome and explains things very well. One of the best professors I've had.
Took his Government class and loved listening to him speak and you can tell he's very passionate about the subject. Also looking forward to taking another one of his classes.
I had Mr. Fridkin for a three hour class which he wanted everyone to stay till the last minute! other than that no complaints. He was funny, helpful, and almost theatrical in his lectures at times. He is a good professor and will be offended if you do not try in his class, so show up and pay attention and he will give you a good grade.
Also, Do NOT plagiarize, he WILL call you out on it. Use his lecture notes and your own words for tests.
He is an amazing teacher. Attendance is not required but if you go and pay attention the class is easy. He takes 5 pop quizzes. 3 tests and a final paper. Gave extra credit
Very cool professor definitely recommend to anyone who doesn't know much about politics and government. I'm a junior in high school and passed the class with a B+
Super interesting guy, I enjoyed the lectures and his powerpts. He uploaded them online in case you miss class, tests you definitely had to study for, but if you used the textbooks website online quizzes and flash cards, you'd get a decent enough grade on tests. Policy paper was a bit of a pain, but it is what would be expected for a college class.
Pretty lecture heavy but he is very entertaining. He took what I thought was going to be my hardest class and made it an easy A. Textbook and his powerpoints fill in the blanks if you miss class but his lectures are necessary.
Fridkin is hands down the most outgoing and fun loving professor I have ever had the pleasure of encountering. His lectures are full and you should take notes, but he is very understanding... You'll notice his stutter the first couple days but after a while you completely forget about it just because he's such a great guy! He's honestly a genius!
He is the best professor I've ever had in College. only had 10 quizzes ( one quiz over each chapter) so it made learning.
This class is as simple as SHOW UP, & PAY ATTENTION, and you will be fine. There are 10 weekly quizzes, but they come right from his lectures, so if you take good notes, you will pass the quiz with flying colors. I NEVER opened the book, and still walked away with an A. 10 quizzes, one final, and a couple in class assignments. TAKE HIM, EASY A!!!
He's spectacular. Caring, motivating and a professional through and through, prof Fridkin is amongst Santa Fe's gems. He clearly loves his job, and will do everything within his reach for you to enjoy and learn in the class.
He is very engaging with his students and wants to hear your opinion. Make sure you pay attention in class because in class discussions will be in the weekly quizzes. Definitely not a boring class and i would take again.
Professor Fridkin is an amazing professor! Attendance is mandatory, but honestly its not a big deal because you'll actually enjoy being in the class. Taking notes is critical if you want to pass the class. His lectures are great and he has a sense of humor too. Also, he used to be in a punk band, Against Me!, so yeah hes a pretty cool guy!
His test are very hard and his lectures can get a bit boring. Not a horrific class overall but wouldn't recommend taking.
Professor Fridkin was genuinely one of the greatest professors I've ever had. He sticks to his syllabus and gives you good feedback. The exams are take-home, but I wrote down everything he said as his lectures are actually really informative and enjoyable (and help on the exams). He has a true passion for Politics, and it showed in every class
Professor Fridkin is awesome! He is so kind, cool and I really loved being in his class. I can tell he loves what he teaches and answers the classes questions very well. We only had weekly quizzes and the mid-term and final, making it much less stressful and more desirable to learn. 10/10 would take his class again!
Dr. Fridkin is an awesome professor. He somehow manages to make Politics fun to learn. He's very passionate about his profession. He is, at all times, prepared to answer any question. Pay attention to his lectures, take notes, and read your book. The quizzes are weekly but nothing too hard. He gives extra credit work or question from time to time.
Professor Fridkin is a great professor. He makes class fun and enjoyable, especially for American government. Theres only 10 quizzes, 1 each week. I didnt use a text book, but if you copy notes, check out his slides and listen to his lectures, you will definitely pass. Theres also a final, Its open book/notes.
Amazing teacher, funny dry humor and explains the material very well & very approachable
Best professor ever. Highly recommend him. Theres quizzes each week but its on the material that he provides. Its not hard, so dont stress. Hes very caring so dont hesitate to ask for help. He provides extra credit so youll always have an opportunity to boost your grade. Theres a final but its open notes! This is American gov class
Easy Class!
Professor Fridkin is probably the nicest and funniest professor at Santa fe. He's very caring and makes the information enjoyable, even if you hate the subject like I do.
Great professor with a gift for fun, interesting lectures. He always makes class worth your time and dedicates plenty of time to answering questions about current events and how they relate to the material.
Best professor I've had.
Absolutely my favorite professor while attending Santa Fe! Lecture's are a lot of fun and he always leaves you thinking over everything you learn. I hope to take more classes with him in the future and I highly recommend him as a professor!
Fridkin is really passionate about what he teaches. It seems like he really cares if you pass or not and he is very energetic.
Dustin was the Fridkin best. He loves teaching and answering questions. Every day in his class was interesting. You have 2 short papers to write and weekly online quizzes that go along with the textbook. Definitely take his class. You wont regret it.
Great professor. Would totally take a class with him again if needed. Very knowledgeable on many subjects involving political science. Has and answer for almost everything you could ask. Energetic during class, wants you to succeed in his class.
He is a great professor and an easy person to get hold of. He is very passionate and knows his stuff very well. He also gives back great feedback and has a clear grading criterion. I WILL ADVISE YOU TO TAKE HIM !!!!!!
One of the best professors I've had. He clearly loves his subject and is very enthusiastic. Class is fun to go to because he talks about relevant issues and it's never boring. He is very knowledgeable about government and politics and has insightful things to say about life in general. Also the textbook was free!
He is AWESOME! He gives an outline of all the dates for the whole semester and is punctual with it. He knows a lot about what he is talking about and keeps you entertained the whole class. There are only two tests and two essays that make up your entire grade but the tests are not challenging at all if you take notes and read the chapters. 10/10 :)
One of the best professors Ive had. Clearly articulates his expectations of your work and will help you when you need it. His lectures are great and he keeps it interesting but still informative. He lets you revise your first paper and use notes on exams if you show up to class consistently. Overall, great and funny professor.
Such an amazing professor, hes very passionate about political science and is very easy going. I've decided to take him again next semester for his other political science class.
He's a really great professor who cares a lot about his students. His passionate and knowledgable about politics which made this class really interesting and a lot of fun. Our tests were take home open book, but I'm not sure if all of his classes are like that. Attendance is graded but its not a huge part & he's really great about feedback on stuff
Professor Fridkin was very knowledgable about the government and can talk for hours. Expect to stay the full class time and some. There are 2 tests, 2 papers, and a few homework assignments. The tests are open note, so long as you attend class. He is not good at replying to emails and seems to hate confrontation about issues. He grades very slow.
Such a funny dude. Cares about students. Graded on 2 exams and 2 papers. If you come to class and take notes, you can use them on the exams so there's no reason not to pass. Would recommend to anyone looking for a fun, low-stress place to learn government.
All due dates laid out from day one. 2 tests and 2 papers and a few easy graded assignments. Offers some extra credit. Free textbook. He has an amazing understanding of politics and his lectures are very funny and easy to engage in. Allows you to ask questions about current events. Open note tests if you come to class. He really is the Fridkinbest!
Easy online class. Everything is due at the end of the semester. Started the class like a 2 weeks before everything was due and ended with a 96. The two exams arent timed, but they are time consuming because they are short answer. The final is easy. And there is a 6-8 page final paper worth 50% of your grade. But he grade really lenient.
TAKE HIM!!! Easy class but I learned a lot.
I would take him again. He makes you work a bit. There were 2 exams, short answers, timed. 1 paper 6 to 8 pages, 50% of your grade. He gives you feed back so you can do well. He really cares about his students. Everything is very clear, no guessing. He gets back to you quick.
I really like him a lot and I think he cares about his students and their grades. I just think some of the online quizzes are difficult even after I read the chapters and take notes I keep getting 5/6 and my grade is dropping.
He doesnt answer your emails if you have questions about his grading. I have had trouble getting a respond on certain things when it came down to my assignments and my questions still till this day havent been answered. You have to take this class by itself because its very time consuming. Wont take this Professor again.
Prof. Fridkin is a really great, charismatic guy. His online course was super easy. Every chapter had a 6 question quiz. There were mandatory discussion posts, however they were not graded. There are 2 easy article reaction papers. For my course, there were no due dates. Everything needed to be turned in by the end of the semester. Good class.
Everything is due the last day, quizzes are very easy and you have unlimited attempts. 2 exams and a 6-page final paper that will catch up to you if you wait until the last minute, otherwise very manageable. This was the second class I took for him and he's truly a good fit for someone who prefers to work at their own pace.
Great professor, took his class online and it was a really fun and easy class. Learned a lot about american government.
He is a really nice guy who tries to make the class enjoyable. Unlike most classes I actually learned something useful in the class. He gave multiple reading response type assignments which I knew nothing about and he still gave me 100's on them. He's a forgiving grader as long as you put in the effort. Easy A as long as you try.
Professor Fridkin is an amazing professor, accessible outside the classroom, he would answer your questions but will make you work! A lot of readings and documentaries are assigned and you will not pass the quiz of you havent studied! Super specific quiz questions which are easy if you studied of course.
Professor Fridkin was really amazing. We did Zoom lectures this semester due to COVID and even though showing up to the lectures were mandatory for a grade, they hardly ever went over 50 min. The lectures themselves were really fun to listen to just because of the way he talks and delivers the content.
This class was challenging! I attended every lecture did every homework (which he assigns over 2-4 documentaries to watch) each documentary being over 1 hour and I still struggled with the quizzes! You will have approx a quiz twice and month in which is not bad considering we only have a final exam.
Prof has everything laid out clearly for you to get an A in the class. If you do the assigned reading and take good notes, you will get a good grade. Graded on several quizzes, two papers, and a final. Assignments are due every two weeks so you have plenty of time to prepare.
Professor Fridkins class does not include any exams other than the final exam. He assigns many quizzes which are worth a lot. He also assigns many discussions and two research papers.
Was available when you had any questions and was an easy grader. the one major assignment was the paper at the end and it honestly was an easy paper. i cant imagine anyone doing bad in this class.
Professor Fridkin was honestly the best teacher Ive had in my schooling so far. He is so understanding and welcoming. The way he lectures is so perfect and he's really funny if you can understand his jokes. He cares for his students and his quizzes are not hard at all, as long as you read through the textbook every week youre good to go.
The lectures have nothing to do with the quizzes, if you want to do well in the class, you will have to spend a lot of time reading the book. I liked his lectures but sometimes they get confusing.
Your grade rides on participation and 4 reaction papers. His lectures were funny and engaging, though you HAVE TO READ to pass the tests. Tests had little to do with lectures. D. Fridkin is a great guy. He's funny, and very smart. He is also great with communication (emails etc) You have to try very hard to fail.
Although I liked Prof.Fridkin as a teacher/person, his class was a bit difficult for me. We had to write a paper every other week on lengthy articles. We also had to take quizzes, that we only had 20 mins to take and we couldn't go back to change our answers, which was hard since there was so much material we had to read/have notes on.
He is a good professor but lectures are boringgg. One quiz a week, NO tests, 2 papers. Easy A class.
Easy grader and he cares about you. Make sure you go to class. No tests.
Very informed on class subject, professor Fridkin encourages constant communication and feedback and is very willing to work with students. Very peaceful class, and more then manageable. Professor Fridkin likes his job and it is clear, he makes being a student in his class fun. Great teacher, not a big work load at all.
His class has little structure, and he takes months to grade things, but it is one of the easiest classes I have taken. The lectures are entertaining, and the work load is little to none, just one massive essay worth 70% of the final grade. Overall, just unorganized but if you can operate with that, it is an easy A or B type of class.
Professor Fridkin has very confusing and off topic lectures, the weekly quizzes have not much to do with the lectures, so I think of the class as primarily online but you need to attend the lecture to maintain your grade. A few papers and one final essay as the exam. Overall, would not take again.
This class was amazing. He is a great professor who is instructed in the material of government. Please do not feel intimidated to state your opinion regarding politics because that class is all about perspectives and learning about our system of politics. He takes a long time to grade, he gives quizzes every week but you can rewrite and retake all
Took this class within a summer semester so the course was accelerated. There were three essays, three tests, and discussion posts. The tests were open note, but make sure you have read the material and organized your notes as the test is timed. The class is not difficult is you read all the material and complete all of the assignment.
Great professor but i could barely stay awake half of the time
Prof. Fridkin is a very jolly and fun person to be around. If you want to pass the class with an A, you have to come to every class and take notes yourself. He writes keywords on the board, but you must pay attention and write additional notes. The tests are pretty easy if you just study your notes, and the final is a cumulative essay assignment.
Fridkin is truly a great guy, the class structure was just a struggle for me. Lectures didn't stay on topic, but he'll kindly answer questions. Open note exams, but essays were tedious. If you put in the work the class isn't hard, but be prepared for some confusion. I've learned a lot, but as much as I wanted to enjoy the learning, I just couldn't.
Dr. Fridkin is a great professor for anyone. He makes the lectures fun and understandable, and his exams are open note. Take detailed notes it will pay off greatly! He is very detailed and cares that you learn the material. Coming out of this class I feel like I know more about the government then I was taught in High School. Great professor!!
I loved Fridkin so much, the energy and vibes he brought everyday. His way of teaching went well with my process of thinking(original story gets lost in so many different stories but they all lead to the moral of the original story).Only a few quizzes/test, attendance is mandatory but I never wanted to skip his class! I love his passion for teaching
Prof. Fridkin made a sometimes boring subject as interesting as possible and he is did a great job of being relatable. Would absolutely recommend. Wrote 3 essays and some discussion posts, just make sure to take good notes and the exams are just fine!
My grade was made up of quizzes and he sets them up so you have unlimited attempts. If you got the question wrong it will tell you but it won't give you the right answer. I wrote about 3 papers and they didn't have to be in any style just make sure you follow the rubric. Great person and professor.
Dr. Fridkin is an excellent professor who gives very clear expectations and very straightforward exams. Pay attention in class and you will learn and succeed. The class is not designed to be a weed-out, but if you are not present physically and/or mentally in class it will become difficult.
Professor Fridkin is great!
Professor Fridkin makes the lectures engaging, and his open-note exams are manageable if you take good notes. Attendance is mandatory, but it's worth it - I found Unstuck AI and the textbook very helpful for studying. Overall, a solid class!
Professor Fridkin wants his students to succeed. The tests are open note. Listen and take good notes and you will get an A. All you have to do is show up and take notes and you will pass. The only thing you are graded on are tests and attendance. Take him he is so kind!
This dude is actually awesome, super great teacher and would definitely take again if given the opportunity.
Professor Fridkin is an amazing professor! Very easy chill class, exams are open note and multiple choice. Pay attention in class and take notes and you will do well. I highly advise anyone to take him!
The most joyful man in the world
Best professor you'll ever have for political science subjects, he is really good at relating the real world problems to what we are learning and it is nearly impossible to have a boring lecture. Better to learn from his lectures than the textbook by 1000 miles.
Very disorganized. The only thing he provided us with on canvas was a reading schedule that was inaccurate and not on schedule with what we were doing in class. Although he is a nice professor and tests are fairly easy, he is very unorganized and has a hard time staying on topic.
