Just go to class and participate. He really makes Public Speaking not so terrifying. I took it during the summer to get it over with and it went by quickly and painlessly.

This, of course, would be rating professional ability, not date-ability. Dustin Lemke will bend backwards to help you. I suggest taking his class for the mere fact that he knows what he is doing.

Class is interesting. He asks questions of the day which really make you think. His grading system is puzzling, but he is fair. Overall he is a great teacher and you will learn alot.

Was dreading speech, but really enjoyed the class, the "question of the day" helped with getting to know fellow students which made the speeches a LITTLE easier to do. Tests were fairly easy as long as you take notes.

He is a pretty good teacher, gets off track alot and we all just have a group dicussions which are pretty interesting. He is pretty fair with his grading but not as fair as he makes him self seem. I would recommend this class but take the speeches seriously.

This class was refreshing insofar that his "question of the day" segment was, perhaps, the best way for the students to be more comfortable speaking in front of others and getting to know other classmates, voice opinions, and hone our listening skills. He was very effective at teaching with his powerpoint presentations. And he's a friendly guy.

Don't let the "question of the day" fool you. Professor Lemke is fun but he also challenges his students to work hard and gives you the grade you deserve. Its great to see a person who actually enjoys his profession. This is definately a class I would recommend but be warned, you can't sit back and be a slacker in his class, and if you do work hard

He has really tried to make a class everyone doesn't want to take interesting and engaging. He also makes grading speeches not rely so much on delivery but more on preparation. Highly recommended teacher. He respects your opinion but expects you to be able to support it. He gets a "click/treat" from me!

Great teacher! If you are apprehensive about this class, don't be, he really makes it "not scary" and actually fun. Just show up to class, participate, and write 3 speeches and you'll get a good grade and even be one of his "favorites." I was dreading this class for so long but now that I am done, I got a good grade and even learned something.

Mr. Lemke is very straight forward teacher. Do what he asks in each speech and you will make an A. I recommend him over any speech teacher at any school. You will look forward to go to class i quarentee it.

He is a great professor, in the sense that he comes off as "your friend" and not your teacher. The great thing about his class is that there are only 3 speeches; the first speech has nothing to do with performance at all! so you pretty much only have to worry about the last two. I highly recommend him.

One of the best professors I have had by far!!! Anyone still having to get their speech requirement, should definitely take Lemke's class. Make good eye contact, talk loud enough, keep speeches within time limits, do all assignments and you will pass the class. Good class discussions after each speech, A class you will truly enjoy, even if you can't stand public speaking.

He had me at hello. A very entertaining teacher. My favorite class was when he brought in the latest Urban New York bluegrass album and showed us the interpretive style of dance that accompanies it. Then we danced, danced the class away. Good times indeed. He is also a very honest man. He refused to accept any of the bribes that I offered him.

Dustin rocks. He's got a sarcastic/witty humor with unusual perspectives-- But I think that's what makes him such a valuable professor. Most likely, if he found your speech boring, so did everyone else- they're just too polite to say anything. Oh, and Parallelism- he loves it, use it!

This teacher was extremely EASY! How could you not get an A in this class? The speeches are fun as long as you dont do boring ones like, sex, drugs, diseases (no one wants to hear those!) Lemke taught well. It is clear that he loves and respects his craft. He clearly indicates his expectations and makes himself available to you. He uses unconventional methods to make decrease nervousness and increase confidence in self, classmates, and school. HW and attendance are important. Speechs are not difficult but you must meet requirements.

Favorite teacher... of all time. AMAZING. I wish that our class met more than once a week. even though it seems like it's a fluff class and you're not learning anything: you do (sneaky man). I walked out of there with better leadership skills and just overall feeling like a better person.

In class participation is a must, but this is one class you'll actually look forward to going to. You must be able to endure large amounts of cynicism and sarcasm in order to endure through his class. My biggest gripe is his unclear expectations concerning speech outlines. If you want an easy intro class, Professor Lemke is not for you.

Only gives 3 speeches!!! Gives a final exam and mock job interviews at the end. A helpful class (for a requirement). Does a lot of things at the beginning to get everyone comfortable, but is very picky on what he wants in speeches. Not hard, but make sure you pay attention to what he is looking for.

Disagree with the other comments. He isn't biased. He is fair and practically tells you what he wants in your speeches. He's pretty funny with stories about his bicycle riding, etc.. The class isn't easy for someone who is shy, but that's the doing of the class, not Professor Lemke's fault.

he is pretty cool man. I'm Latino and he does not seem bias at all. I think he is pretty cool and nice. He has cool sandals and loves to talk about his bike riding experiences and the homeless interesting stuff man.

There is a girl in class that complains too much and takes things personal. Mr. Lemke is cool he helped me, and I'm not even white. he understands you if you show you try. He likes latinos. Professor Lemke is a caring and knowledgeable professor who understands his students as well as the topic of public speaking. To do well in this class, all you have to do is focus and put your full effort in (just like any other class!). It is hard to say that Lemke has favorites; he certainly has an eclectic teaching style but he is a fair grader.

Very nice professor! He is helpful and makes class fun. Likes for students to see him during office hours for extra help. He is really good at responding to emails too. Just practice the speeches before giving them and follow his instructions. Oh, and make sure to get to class early on speech days. Overall, great experience! :)

Professor Lemke really cares about students who want to learn and he is willing to put in the extra work to help them. I have learned so much about the art of public speaking from how to choose a topic to how to properly use a presentation aid. The information was presented in a very professional and clear manner by Professor Lemke. He's legit!

Professor Lemke is a great teacher. He is very passionate about the subject & makes sure you have the information needed to give a great speech. Attend every class (or have good reason to miss & give notice) because he will drop your grade if you miss more than three. Always give speech on the day assigned too. It will be much easier on you.

Fairly easy class. He tells exactly what is needed to excel. Majority of the class waited until last day to do final speech. So a bit too nice if you ask me. Took community class with Anthropology. Did not like Professor Todd class.

This is my 3rd year at HCC and I must say that Mr. Lemke is the best professor I've ever had. He makes you feel comfortable during your speeches and he gives you more time if you're not ready to give your speech on your scheduled speech date. I absolutely loved his class and would I recommend him to everyone.

Easy class just as long as you put the work in. As long as you come up with interesting topics, and speak with confidence, you will get an A. Took it as the learning community and loved it. Final project is awful, however. I also feel like he is almost too relaxed and then gets angry about it. Give your speeches on time.

Lemke is hands-down the best professor I've had. I wish every professor was like him. Very easy to talk to and will walk you in the right direction to succeed in his class. seriously one of the best professors i've had. sits down and will talk you through your speeches. as expected most college professors tend to have a more liberal mind set, yet he listened to my speech on getting rid of gun control. VERY constructive and open minded. 0 complaints from him at all!

This is by far the best teacher I have ever had. He knows how to point out your mistakes in an inspirational way, without putting you down. His lectures are always entertaining because he comes up with creative ways to make students understand what he is trying to teach. He is very chill but respected at the same time. I've been attending HCC for almost three years now & no teacher has inspired me as much as Professor Lemke has. He provides clear & simple instructions, is very open minded, & encourages fresh ideas to speak about. I was horrible at, & terrified, of public speaking before his class. I finished with an A+ & confidence in front of a classroom!

His class syllabus shows you specifically what you need to do to get the grade you desire. 6 speeches for an A, 4 speeches for a C etc.. He categorizes speeches into difficulty levels, easy speeches are level 1, harder are level 2 etc.. Your class is like a buffet. Several easy non-verbal exercises and a mid term. Best teacher!!!!

I disliked the class a lot. Everything is just doing. There are only about seven assignments for the semester. No tests, no finals. Professor Lemke is, nonetheless, the greatest. He allowed us to choose when to turn in our assignments. He was funny, kind, helpful, etc. I don't recommend the class, but if you want to take it, make sure you get him

Lemke is the best teacher i've had in dale mabry campus. he is funny, very kind, and patient. no pressure in his class i recommend it 100%. there is a group project but very easy!

Professor Lemke is a one-of-a-kind teacher! I was afraid of public speaking but a few of my classmates were; he has great exercises & strategies to make even the most timid kid confident & comfortable in front of the class. You will make new friends & it was a class I always looked forward to.

Professor Lemke is a very positive and bright person. He truly cares about his students and WANTS them to pass and is always eager to help. HIs feedback is always helpful and he will point out what's good in your speech. He's very charismatic and gives out great strategies on how to make your speech the best. 10/10 recommend!

Professor Dustin is a very cool layd back teacher he truly cares about his students. there is no textbook for this class but you do have to give 3 speeches which are very easy. Its an easy A just come to class and pay attenion and if your overly senstive then don't take his class because he's very funny and sarcastic.

He's absolutely amazing and is a very salf aware person and you always feel inspired when you leave the class and helps alot with self improvement and because he gives you freedom to pick your speeches, you end up learning about a broad amount of topics.

Professor Lemke was a great professor. I personally struggle with public speaking and he made it seem like a breeze. I'm so thankful I took his class. He has a lot of patience and will work with you and help you find better ways to do your speech. He has a clear grading criteria and he tries to encourage everyone to reach their fullest potential.

TAKE THIS CLASS! I don't ever bother rating professors, but Professor Lemke is so awesome I just had to. Very clear on what he wants and gives you plenty of information & resources to achieve an A. Gives you 3 absences, show up the other days, do the work & youll pass easy. Very positive uplifting person always willing to help.

Public speaking was a breeze with professor lemke! He really made you feel comfortable with talking in front of the class and prepares you for every speech. There are only 2 level one speeches, 2 level two speeches, and one level three speech. He lets you pick and choose the day you would like to present a speech, and no text book is used. THE BEST

I recommend everyone to take him for public speaking. Lemke is the coolest and really laid back. If you have anxiety take him he is amazing, and if you do the speeches you will pass with an easy A!
