Great professor.. if you cant make it to class just let him know and hell understand. 5 quizzes and a one page research essay. 2 midterms and one final. Gives extra credit. Short assignment after each class but doesnt take attendance.. but be careful if you miss a lot of class the assignments add up
Transitioned really well to online classes. Lectures and labs were relevant and consistently full of information and practical use for it. It felt really, really useful to attend every class and doing well on tests came super easily with just paying attention to the labs and lectures.
LOVED Professor Tsai! He made his lectures fun and you can tell he genuinely is knowledgeable in his teachings and explains everything very well. Only 5 quizzes, 2 exams, a small report, and a final exam. Hardly even touched the book because almost EVERYTHING was accessible in the lecture slides that were always provided all semester long.
AMAZING LECTURES. Pay attention, take notes and you wont fail. Interesting content peaks your interest - not boring at all. Hes straight and to the point. The info he gives is easy to understand and retain. He is also understanding and caring. He wont inundate you with loads of unnecessary work.
I took Geography and the lab class with Professor Tsai and let me say that he is the best. He lectures 2x a week for online classes and they are so interesting and he provides pictures and videos that are also very cool. He's traveled to over 50 countries so he's not your typical "armchair geographer". He grades fairly and stays after class for?
Professor Tsai was awesome! His lectures are super interesting and he doesnt pile unnecessary homework on your shoulders. You watch the lectures, take notes do a response and quiz and boom you are done for the week but you still learned everything you needed to. Im glad delta got him for GEOG!!
Loved professor Tsai! He had a clear outline of what his grading process was and graded very fairly. The lectures and reading were a bit time consuming but obviously thats how it is for every class! You can tell hes passionate and his lectures are actually interesting to watch.
Lectures are good. Professor Tsai makes the material interesting and kept the class engaging.
Everything is spaced out very well. A majority of the tests and quizzes are based on lectures, the book is really only used for key terms that can sometimes be on the test. He makes the beginning of class very interactive and engaging. However, there really isn't homework so the majority of the grade is based on the tests and quizzes.
Gives good feedback, 2 assignments per week! You WILL need to take notes on the lectures and read through the textbook in order to pass. There are 2 lectures given per week that are 30-40 min. If you are willing to learn, this class is really good but if you are there to cheat then I doubt you will pass. I studied very hard and found lectures FUN!
I wish this professor taught other classes too. I can proudly say that I learned the most from this class than I ever have. I am starting to love geography and might start studying in this field. I love his lectures. From his lectures, you can see that he knows his stuff really good. Its like he has geog facts memorized like a computer.
Avoid him at all costs, his lectures are extremely boring, he talks way too much and way too fast, he times your quizzes and gives you 20 minutes that is all, and usually the quizzes consist of 15+ questions, he's very vague on what will be on the quizzes, so you need to spend at least a full day and go through the lectures again carefully.
Professor Dustin Tsai is very down-to-earth, quite literally because he teaches Geography. The live lectures are very fun for those who choose to attend. Not a lot of homework and the quizzes are very straightforward.
Wow, Professor Tsai makes geography fun! I took the class to satisfy a requirement, but I would take it again for the joy of it. You can tell he's actually passionate about the material, and because of this he makes the material very interesting. He's also hilarious. He rick rolled all of us! He made my last semester at Delta a joy.
hands down one of the best professors ive had at delta! hes really passionate about the material he teaches and made me look forward to the lectures even though they took place online. he replies fast and offers extra credit on quizzes as long as you pay attention to the lectures. i would definitely take him again if i could!
Professor had amazing lectures. It is wise to watch the recorded ones or attend the live lectures as he quizzes from them a majority of the time. Can tell he really cares about ensuring his students understand the concepts and that they pass.
If you need science GEd TAKE THIS CLASS! 5 Quizzes, 2 Exams (final incl), 1 Report. It is lecture-heavy but they are super fun& interesting. TAKE NOTES Hes young and cute. There is EC on every quiz/exam but do NOT try to cheat! Canvas will let him know if you click out of the screen, copy & paste, etc.
I really enjoyed Dustin Tsai's lectures and it would be the only class where I tried to attend live. I hope I can join his human Geography class next semester.
I had taken this class first year at Delta with another professor... Professor Tsai helped me understand the class a lot better then my 1st try... I definitely recommend his class.. Took online.. lectures are informative and pretty much are in his quizzes... he does give extra credit in quizzes and exams.. dont cheat because he will revoke them..
Professor Tsai was one of the greatest professors I have had through out my time at Delta. His lectures are very authentic and interesting, I promise you won't want to get out of your seat. As long as you watch the lectures and read than you can guarantee yourself an A in this class. He gives many extra credit opportunities on his exams and quizzes
I would not take the class again as I had a hard time.
This professor could be better in my opinion. I am sure the quirky and comical approach is attractive to some but I would like to have a more serious learning environment. It is hard to take the class serious when the professor is constantly joking and trying to be "hip" and "cool."
Professor Tsai is amazing I would definitely take his class again The class is super easy all you have to do is listen to his lectures(which are very informative)and read the assigned pages you will pass You have a chance to do extra credit and have a better grade Professor Tsai also drops the 2 lowest scores you have which is amazing.
Professor Tsai was one of the worst professors I have had through out my time at Delta. His lectures are very dry, I promise you will want to get out of your seat. The class was not too hard, so if you just want an A, go for it.
Very interesting lectures, which makes learning fun! Professor Tsai radiates passion in each lecture. If you watch the lectures it wont be necessary to read. Workload consist of quizzes, exams, and a report. Each quiz has extra credit pertaining to specific things in each lecture. I would definitely take this class if youre considering it!
Such a fun and fascinating class. Was taken through Dual Enrollment and absolutely loved my first experience of a college class. Work is not hard or strenuous as all. Weekly responses and the lessons are actually intriguing. Mid-Term and Finals were not difficult at all, quite interesting. I appreciate the effort in the recorded lectures. Engaging.
Professor Tsai is a heavy lecturer. There are two 1 1/2 hour lectures a week and weekly quizzes to go with them, as well as chapter readings. Grades are solely based off of quizzes and exams. I have been a straight A&B student in college and this is the first class I am failing. Even with attending lectures and taking notes. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
His lectures are recorded so no need to attend, but definitely needs to watch the videos- quizzes are bi-weekly with 3 exams. He gives out a lot of extra credits in quizzes and exams which can boost your grade. Lectures can get boring but he is very passionate about what he teaches.
I took this class online and really loved it. For the main course, there were two weekly hour and a half lectures and a quiz about them and the reading every three weeks or so. The class was fairly easy and enjoyable. He definitely cares about his students and loves teaching. Would take again!
Worst professor I ever had!! DO NOT TAKE HIM!! He is very unclear about all his material, his lectures are SO long when he could easily sum it up to a short lecture. You will struggle in his class. Most of the time the test dont have the material covered for the week so good luck with that!! A LOT OF HOMEWORK TOO!! So glad the semester is over!!
I took him for geography 1 and geo lab hes a great instructor and really has a passion for his job.
Don't hesitate to take this professor for your physical science credits. He made concepts easy to understand and applied them to real life occurrences. Quizzes and exams are straightforward, study guides are provided for exams. Attend his live/zoom lectures if possible, he's interactive and friendly. Made a science class enjoyable and not scary.
Taking this lab class alongside the GEOG1 lecture helps, but he also provides review videos of the lab concepts. 2 assignments each week, straightforward instructions. Take notes of the video instructions, it helps. Labs are math heavy in the beginning but they get easier and more fun further into the semester. Won't occupy too much of your time.
This is not a tough course at all. He records all of his lectures online. He is very engaging and teaches geography CORRECTLY. I wish I could have taken him in person to learn more but could not due to the pandemic. He is very active with feedback and easy to contact. You will not fail as long as you do your work. I passed with a C from slacking.
This professor is very thorough with his lectures and also challenges his students by having random questions in the quizzes that are mentioned in his lectures. I have learned a lot in this course and continue to use what I learned in my day-to-day life.
I sadly had to drop the lab because the physical geography class was too much. The lab was really easy, all you do is watch the recorded video and take notes. Use the open zoom hours so you can ask additional questions and help. However, the physical geography class was VERY lecture heavy since quizzes were based on readings and 1 1/2 lectures.
Absolute legend. 2022 class, professor gives engaging lectures and explanations/answers to questions. Look out for his extra credit questions sometimes referencing conspiracies or his travel experiences ( easy ). If you enjoy science or need credits, this is the class. Small grind is textbook notetaking, which he lays out conveniently in syllabus.
This dude can read the phone book and make it sound interesting. I loved having him.
As a non-Science person I got an A in this class and learned some things. Class is 75-minute lectures, twice a week. A handful of quizzes; extra credit was how well you paid attention to minor details in the lecture. Three major exams but he gave out good study guides. He traveled a lot, has cool stories, and seems to care about his students, too.
This is a great class! Considering it was all online, this class was still super informative and very interesting. This class does require a lot of your focus however. You need to stay on top of your readings and lectures. Make sure you pace yourself accordingly or else you'll fall behind. Other than that, a really great class and professor!
Amazing professor! Each week you watch a lecture and read a chapter from the textbook about a specific country and do a quiz and a brief written response. Lectures were interesting and informative. Gave a study guide for the midterm and final. Offers extra credit. Very passionate about geography and sets you up for success. Highly recommend! Easy A
Two labs a week; it's best if you take this lab with the class but the material is at least reviewed in a short video. The first labs are math-heavy; other labs get more fun. He drops the lowest 3 lab scores so that helps. I struggle with Science but this class wasn't too difficult for me. Would recommend this class to fulfill your lab requirement.
His lectures are very detailed and contain the necessary information needed for the midterm and final exams. The chapter readings were not too much to handle either. He is a great teacher and genuinely enjoys teaching, anyone who takes his class would be very happy to be there.
I had phys geo1&lab. I personally LOVED this man, as a human & teacher. I'd like to think of myself as not the brightest student, but he made this class so easy, a monkey could do it. & I enjoyed it very much. Barely HW for phys GEO, just some quizzes every two weeks. His lectures aren't mandatory, you get to work on your own time. 11/10 recommend.
such a cute teacher, he's passionate about his job and it shows. the lectures are great, but be warned you have to watch them all to do decent in the class. i would recommend him
Awesome Teacher!
Be be prepared for weekly readings and lots of homework
Great and easy professor. Honestly, if anyone says anything bad about the professor or say that the quizzes are hard, it is because they are lazy. The quizzes are based off of his lectures and he doesn't ask crazy or hard questions that are not in his lectures. I was one of the first few classes that took his course when it was his first semester.
Dr. Tsai is an amazing instructor. I wish there was more instructors like him. Be warned though, you must pay attention during his lectures because he will ask the most obscure questions during tests. His lectures are a lot of fun and he makes it easy to learn and remember. Dr. Tsai is truly a great teacher.
This man is probably the best professor at Delta. Do not hesitate if your wondering to take his class. The lectures were amazing and you will learn something new in every single one!!!!!
Absolutely loved this class! Amazing professor with real world knowledge of the topics discussed in class. Lectures were interesting and engaging. Loved how the discussions were presented and the feedback given each time. Would highly recommend this professor!
Dustin was my favorite professor in college by far. He always is positive and never made anyone feel bad for getting a wrong answer and genuinely seemed to love his job. We only took one exam which was the mid term which you definitely need to study for. The final was a project which wasn't hard so if you are looking for a lab this is for you!
Great teacher and very good leacture help you a lot as with some reading. Just put some effort you should pass and also drop one lowest score quizzes end of semester.
Had great lectures on zoom and they were recorded if you couldn't make it. There was a bit of reading as well, but honestly with a bit of effort the class was easy and fun. Your lowest couple of quiz scores were also dropped, as well as adding extra credit questions at the end of quizzes.
Expect to read, listen to lectures, take tests and quizzes. Don't expect for it to be easy, but he's also very clear on his expectations. Very good lectures and has alot of information to share. Many of the concepts are difficult for me to understand but I can't complain about the teacher because he's doing a great job of presenting how to pass.
I understand the reason that why some students dislike the fact that he's trying to be hip and cool, but personally this made him more relatable and fun in class. His lectures are amazing imo because 1. He explains clearly. 2. No BS. 3. He made it engaging. On the flip side, however, some of his jokes might be inappropriate for some people.
This dude doesn't play when it comes to his work. He is good at explaining in lectures and tests seem to be his passion along with geography and travel. You have to work hard on this class, its one that I worry about the most compared to my other classes, because we are just being scored on quizzes and tests. Lots of reading. Very knowledgeable.
I hated this class. He talked way too much about his personal life in lectures. No assignments just tests. If you fail a test there is no real way to redeem yourself. He asked obscure questions for extra credit on his tests and expected you to remember very specific things from a 90-minute lecture.
It's general so I'd say its hard because you're covering lots of areas in a quick pace. The hardest part about the class is it's all quizzes and tests. No work in between and if you're not into it, you can space out so just try and take good notes. I'm having trouble w/this while taking other classes and working full time. This one is alot of time.
Took both online and lab. Overall he's very funny and the class is kinda fun, both the online class and the lab is kinda difficult. Pros: LOTS of extra credits, he made the lecture interesting even if some of the content itself is meh. CONS: limited time for tests and quizzes (usually 1-2 min per question), need to read textbook for quiz and tests.
Dr. Tsai is the best professor I've ever had. He has such a genuine interest in the material he's teaching and he's very excited to share his knowledge and experiences with you. This class is lecture heavy, but you can watch them on your own time. Make sure to pay attention and take good notes, because there is not much to be graded on.
Dr. Tsai is my favorite professor ever. He really loves his job and is excited to teach you. There are about a dozen modules with a discussion and quiz every week. Pay attention to the lectures and take good notes and you'll be fine. There is ONE extra credit assignment so make it count. Also, there is not much to be graded on, so pay attention!
Professor Tsai always had lots of stories to tell about everywhere he has been around the world and its always interesting. He has lectures that will keep you active and ready to learn more, he does record his lectures so if you miss something you can always look back and make sure you take notes! through and through awesome teacher!
This is one of my favorite classes that I took at Delta. At first I was dubious of this class and professor, I had to take it as a GE class and the other professor's rating was terrible. I'm so glad I took this class with professor Tsai. He was very straightforward of what was expected and his lectures were actually interesting. Great class.
Professor Tsai is the best teacher I ever had at Delta! His lectures are very interesting. There are 2 lectures a week, plus a quiz and discussion. The discussions can be tricky, but just don't overthink it and you will get a good grade. This class is so beneficial and I learned so much. This class is like a mix of history, which was very interesting
Prob would take this teacher again, but tests gave me anxiety. Graded work only consists of tests. Tip: they are lecture heavy, idky he has us get a textbook when there's only 2-3 questions on the test about it. I actually rlly liked his lectures (1hr long usually), teaches like he's talking to a friend & it made the class fun & helped me memorize!
Professor Tsai is an amazing professor. I only took his class because I was fulfilling a GE requirement, so I was expecting the class to be boring. However, Professor Tsai made this class so interesting, and now I actually like geography. His lectures are engaging, and you can tell he is very passionate of his job. Definitely, take this class!
Took both physical GEOG and the lab. For the online one, attendance is not mandatory, for the lab yes. He drop lowest quiz and lab scores, and gives TONS of bonus questions. The quizzes and the tests are tough, and it's worded in an obscured way. If you studied the lectures "very thoroughly", you don't need to read the textbook to get an A.
Best professor. Lectures are super engaging and interesting, everyone chimes in asking questions which makes it fun. I actually looked forward to attending lectures. For tests they are done in lockdown browser but they are easy as long as you attend the lectures. Content sticks with you beyond class because of how interesting it
Dustin is an excellent teacher that knows how to convey critical information with ease and is willing to work with you at your own pace. He is passionate about the subject he teaches, and it shows! The lab work is simple and informative, and his lectures are well organized. A personable man who loves his job.
Dustin is an amazing professor. I have taken both his online lecture and his lab class and he does an exceptional job in both. He does an amazing job of explaining his labs and he does a great job providing feedback and answering any questions you have. He provides extra credit on his exams and some of his labs. I would recommend Dustin to everyone
Professor Tsai's GEOG 1 class (along with his GEOG 1L Lab) is an amazing intro to learning about the world world around you. His online lectures are informative, and his in-person Labs enhance the learning experience with his interactive teaching. As a required course for a transfer degree, I highly recommend this class to anyone who needs it.
Professor Tsai is a great teacher who is hilarious and easygoing. I'd recommend him to anyone with a busy life. The coursework is doable and not ridiculous. Has a great extra credit opportunity. He shares a lot of his life in his lectures giving his course personality and was more interesting while watching his lectures. 11/10 would recommend:>!
One of the worst classes I have ever taken in my entire life. Professor Tsai is a ridiculously difficult professor for a general ed class that no one cares about. All the lectures were extremely personal. All that I can remember is hearing him talk about himself vs learning anything about the material.
Dr.Tsai's class is not a "back-burner" type. His test include special notes or questions from both the textbook and lectures. He uses lockdown browser for all of his test and quizzes. He's really not a bad professor, but just makes it hard to BS your way through his class.
Prof Tsai is amazing, his lectures are fun, pay attention and study and you will pass, he offers bonus points every quiz, also clear guidance for the exams, he is there for you outside office hours, I had technical dif & he was there for me on a Sunday. Learned a lot that I can apply to life.
Dustin was awesome! Probably one of my favorite teachers ever. Lecture and lab heavy but totally willing to work with you to figure out any challenges. Lots of bonus points available on quizzes if you were paying attention in lecture.
Dustin was an amazing teacher! this was not an easy class if you're looking for an easy A but his lectures were engaging/answered any question you had + gave you more than enough time to study for his quizzes. Just pay extra attention to the lectures & take notes of EVERYTHING as the quizzes revolve around it then you'll be fine lol
All bad reviews are about his lectures being personal and his experiences exploring different geography and I don't understand how u can rate him bad because of that. He is teaching geography would you not want a professor that ha1st hand experience in the location he is talking about?? Also he is lecture heavy and test heavy but u learn so much
Dustin is a great professor. No matter how many questions I had, he would always be willing to answer them. However, I do recommend working with your table for the labs. I genuinely enjoyed his lectures and found them very interesting. Plus, he offers many bonus points opportunities in them, so pay attention!!
Prof. Tsai is very cool, his lectures are always engaging and fun. This course is very test heavy so make sure you pay attention to his lectures and read the book properly. He usually gives out a bunch of the answers during his lectures btw. There's an extra credit opportunity at the end of the course and a report paper you have to do (it's easy).
Mr. Tsai is a very amazing professor who really loves his job. His lectures are engaging so you don't get bored of them. His quizzes and midterms are straightforward all you have to do is pay attention to the lectures and make sure you do the reading, remember the vocab words. Wish he was my professor for all my classes.
I loved this class, considering I normally hate online classes which consists of tons of readings and videos. He is funny and enthusiastic about teaching about the geography of California. Our weekly modules consists of lectures, discussions, & quizzes. As long as you pay close attention you'll be ok. He added some destinations to my bucket list!
This was one of the best classes I've ever taken. I love Dustin and his lectures are interesting and informative. I learned so much about the history of California that most professors would never teach about. Quizzes are fairly easy, discussions as well. There's no texbook required and everything is based off lectures and videos.
I LOVE Dr Tsai. He is so moving, and his lectures are vivid and detailed. I loved this class so much I felt like he really cared about the subject matter and his students. Quizzes are easy and midterms and finals are straightforward. Wish I was in all his classes!!
Super easy A as long as you pay attention to the lecture. Super light work load two lecturs a week about an hour each and a short quiz each week with about 20 questions. It is timed but I never found myself needing more time anyway. Would take him again
He took too long to grade assignments. The mid term wasn't graded until a week before the final was due. He was accommodating when I had a technical issue that made me miss a quiz, made it really easy to make up the work. If you have to reach out to him, make sure you do so through the course page online, he doens't answer his emails promptly.
BEST Professor I've ever had. Dustin is very engaging, I actually looked forward to his class every time. Being fully present for his lectures gets you through 90%. Quizzes are harder than midterms and finals since they're fill in the blank. Non-major classes would not bug me so much if all professors were like him.
You need to watch his lectures to pass the quizzes. Everything on the quiz is from the lectures, take notes and pay attention. Discussions were easy. 1 quiz, 1 discussion, 1 lecture a week. Each quiz and discussion are about the lecture, they take about 2-3 hours on average. Hardly any reading.
Honestly, he's a chill professor. But if you're lazy like me, I don't really recommend him. Read his syllabus guys T^T. Don't recommend skipping an assignment, my grade dropped...tried making it up with extra credit...didn't receive it lolol. I will give an update at the end of the semester.
He is a very chill professor. This is not like a typical online course. You need to genuinely watch the lectures and take notes and pay attention. The course was fairly easy. It just might take more effort compared to other online courses.
I really enjoyed this class. His lectures are really interesting. The assigned readings weren't too long. The textbook he assigns doesn't cost much. Quizzes are due every Sunday. He gives great feedback and is responsive to emails. This class opened up my eyes a lot about the environment. He's inspirational and caring.
Pretty great professor. The assignments are pretty straightforward. Quizzes and essays once every two weeks. The lectures can be a little too long but most of the information is on the Quizzes. Highly recommend doing well on the final. It's 14% of your entire grade but overall, a great professor.
Dustin was the best professor I had at Delta college. I looked forward to this class every Tuesday and Thursday because I knew I was going to learn something so interesting. He truly made his lectures fun and understandable. He is very knowledgeable and has great stories with his lectures. You will not regret taking his class!!
Dustin was amazing!! I'd definetly take his class again I feel like I learned a lot of new interesting things. You MUSTTT watch lectures to pass class but they're very fun and interesting to watch if you're taking an online class like I did. He lowk inspired me to travel even more. Grading wasn't harsh and I was able to pass his class easily. :)
