Prof Tune made ethics soo much better than other teachers. He explains each theory very clear. Bi weekly online quizzes. One paper due. And final quiz. Just listen, take notes, read and you will pass. Trust me other teachers make this subject more confusing then it needs to be. 100% recommended
You have to read! And its not easy material either. Philosophy is hard to understand but he helps with his lectures. Quiz every other week. And no homework besides reading your chapters and going to class for lectures. Very nice guy! tends to repeat himself but, quick to reply to emails. Taking him for ethics next!
Mr. Tune is now my all time favorite teacher. If you show up to class and take good notes you will have all you need to take his quizzes. Dont forget to do them, they are easy if you have notes and are the only thing you are graded on because he gives no homework besides reviewing material and one paper. His lectures are so interesting!!! 3
Prof. Tune knows his stuff. He made Ethics so much easier with his lectures. Do not miss class or you will miss out. Online quizzes. This is not an easy A class. You do need to understand each theory in order to pass the class. Finals are coming up and they are in class written paragraphs. So, listen up, TAKE notes, read, and listen. Great teacher!
Good lectures. Not trying to help students. He said he wouldn't give trueFalse because that would give the student a 50% chance to get it right?!?!? Midterm and Finals are in essay form. To show how well the student learned the content. Rather not take his course.
There is a test every other week. Good thing is, you can take it at home. You will listen to lectures, podcast, and take notes in this class. You will have to write a 4-5 double spaced paper, which is 30% of your final grade. Another 30% of your grade is the final exam. Final exam is NOT easy, answer the questions in paragraphs, from memorization.
Classes are lectures. Homework is reading and sometimes watching videos. One EASY 5 question quiz every two weeks. Two papers that do not involve research, just your own thoughts only and over ANY topic you want as long as it's an argument. First one was 1000 words, second one was only 800-1000 words. Very interesting class. Very EASY class.
Is super fair. You get the grade you earned. Two essays and 6 easy online quizzes. But he walks you trough both essays if you ask! Kinda funny . Show up, take notes, read the chapters and will pass!
Prof Tune was clear on his class, but he DOES not give you a break. If you have a 68 he will give you that grade. HE does not drop any grades at all!!! I would not recommend this teacher at all!!!
You can tell he is passionate about teaching and makes it fun. He's goofy and hilarious with the lecture material. Biweekly quizzes are given online, along with two papers, which he gives as much assistance as you ask for. Essay format final over all the theories discussed. This course is designed to test your ability to think critically!
Great teacher! Nice and clear. Always there to help and you know what to expect. No curve balls. This doesn't mean he's easy, but pay attention read your book and you can get an A. Wish more teachers were like him. Great guy!
Great lectures- kept the class involved and was very thoughtful to every comment made by students. Feedback was quick, clear and helpful. You have 6 quizzes & two papers to write but he is so easy to work with & will help guide you if you just take the time to ask for help. Final is blue book-not multiple choice. I would take him again.
Great Prof! Took as Flex semester course. Grades assignments and responds to emails quickly. Lecture notes are provided. Course material can be somewhat "over your head" as it's Philosophy. As long as you can back up your opinion, you'll get full credit. Quizzes online are tough. Expect to write essays (Discussions) and 2 major papers.
Course was very interesting & fun! Consists of 6 online quizzes that are easy if you study the moduleschapters, 2 papers which can be challenging yet fun if you make the best of it, & a final made up of 10 questions over material covered during the semester. Professor was always available for students. Just amazing guy!!! Highly recommended!!!
5 question quiz every two weeks, 2 papers 800-1000 words (not research so no worry about citations), and the final. really easy class. you don't need the books, just listen to his lectures and take notes. he doesn't talk too fast so notes are easy and he' s willing to repeat and answer questions, provides "modules" online. quiz ? frm lecture&module
Class is really interesting and uses great examples for students to understand. He is funny, and knows how to get your attention. Easy class, but makes you think.
His lectures are great. He really gets you to think and he has a great way of breaking down the theories of ethics. Some of the reading material is dated but his assignments are clear on what is expected and so is his grading. He cuts no slack, what you get is what you earn. Very easy class. Would definitely take again. He is somewhat of a comic.
I really didn't like him. He tries to make jokes, but they're not funny and he just kind of rambles on. His homework is really easy though so as long as you come to class sometimes and do the work, it's fine.
I had an amazing experience with Dr. Tune. Lets face it, Philosophy isn't the most exciting subject, but he made it very entertaining. His jokes are a little cheesy and dorky but he always made the whole class laugh. He only requires one (online) assignment a week and if you give it effort, he will give you a 100. I most definitely recommend him.
He's the best teacher I've ever had. He explains everything so clear and he makes jokes that keep you awake in class. Definitely would take again.
He is an inspiring Philosophy professor. I took him twice and made an A both times. Quizzes are fairly easy, open book, but you still have to read. He reviews well for the final which is written and that are one or two paper which he will help you with. Easy A!
Dr. Tune is my favorite professor. He is reachable through email and always responds in no time (he said he cannot see unseen notifications). He gives you reading analysis, which he'll explain how to do, and that's pretty much it. Apart from a midterm essay. He'll explain in full detail how he wants it done. There is just one test: The final.
The Honors class is easy. He is wonderful - very intelligent & focused on your understanding of the subject. Lectures are straightforward; loves questions & comments. One reading analysis each week, one midterm paper, & one exam - the final. Easy grader; responds promptly to emails. No late work but is understanding about extenuating circumstances.
I took Dr. Tune as my 2306 philosophy and loved his class. He's very good at keeping you awake and giving good examples for his theories. There is homework every week but its just a reading analysis, one paper your midterm and the final is a short response question. Attendance does matter so it's an easy grade. I would take him again.
good professor, good class.
Very brilliant professor. Lectures are long, but the discussions that stem from them are very entertaining. Reading assignments were easy and the paper was challenging, but an easy grade if you properly research and don't procrastinate. Gives great feedback on all of your assignments and will answer your messages right away.
Show up, listen to lecture, do the short weekly assignments & there not much else to worry about. There was one major paper due, even that was very manageable. He has the class down pat though & goes on "auto-pilot" sometimes in lectures. Nice guy & very understanding the fact that life happens and thing occur, he will work with you, if you try.
Dr. Tune is a very intelligent man and he expects your best. I loved the challenge, and while I only got a B, I know that I did my very best and it simply wasn't good enough. I respect him immensely. I learned a lot in his Ethics course.
He makes the concepts really easy to understand. Loves to hear your opinions. He gives the best lectures I have ever listened to. Returns grades to you very quickly. Class is fun. You forget you're in class if you really focus and get into what he is lecturing about. Classes go by quick. Gives you independence on assignments. TAKE THIS PROF.
Non-mandatory attendance with lectures that are all posted online for easy access, so basically you don't /have/ to show up. The one essay assigned is super easy, and the 10 little assignments are a breeze. He's a little monotone, but he's cool. Looks a bit like Daniel Radcliffe if you squint. Take him for the easiest philosophy class EVER
Super clear guidelines, if you do the weekly assignment to the specifications you will get an A. Very informative class.
He's super laid back. I swear, I think he's like a hippie or something... I think I missed quite a few times but still managed to make an A. He's a great professor, and I do recommend him. He doesn't make you get a book, which is great. Umm... yeah. Take him.
Dr. Tune is extremely organized and always willing to help. He is very clear on what he expects as well as great at emailing/communicating with you. No textbook is required and gives weekly assignments. Only one paper and the final. I highly recommend this professor.
I really enjoyed this class. I took it online flex class so there was homework every week but If you are really proactive you can get all the papers written before hand which was great for me since i work full time. He has 1 major paper due but if you talk to him in advance he will allow you to write about a moral issue of your choosing.
Dr. Tune is a great lecturer, he will go over what you don't understand so make sure to ask questions. I don't suggest you miss class so you'll fully understand the theories plus he gives good examples.
As flex course expect 2 assignments due every week and a discussion. It's pretty easy but expect lots of reading. Only 1 paper to write but it has to be up to his expectations if you want to receive a good grade on it which you would want because is a major part of your final grade. Class was enjoyable, I actually learned something.
Mr. Tune is a great professor. His lectures are long but try not to get side tracked. He does not give extra credit, but his work is really not that hard. Just do what you need to and you will pass. The final was easy, I really enjoyed the class.
Dr. Tune is a great professor. He really wants you to understand his lectures and he knows it can be difficult. He really breaks down his lectures and gives plenty of examples. He is very approachable and kinda funny. You only have to do 10 reading analysis, 1 paper, and a final. No textbook, he posts all his reading assignments on canvas.
Dr. Tune is a great professor! As far as work goes, you get 1 reading analysis a week(total 12?), a paper, and a final. He drops 2 of the lowest reading analysis' so I just chose to skip 2 of them. He's a an awkwardly funny dude, with a kind of relaxed method of teaching. Attendance isn't mandatory, so that's another plus for him. Definitely take!
Dr. Tune absolutely knows and loves what he is talking about. I thought philosophy would be horrible but he made it pretty interesting. Theres 12 assignments that are pretty easy and drops the two lowest, a paper that's worth 30% which is easy too just don't wait till last minute and a final that's worth 30%, he gives a review a week before
Great teacher for ethics! Took him for summer 1 and I thought I was going to fail. Very approachable. If you have questions he gives good feed back. Test every week and readings every day but worth taking in the summer.
He's a great professor! I took him online during the summer. He grades assignments quickly and is very clear about what's required. No textbook required he post the reading assignments online. Highly recommend.
Great teacher for Ethics; the subject can seriously be a drag but he makes the class enjoyable. He quickly grades reading analysis the day you turn it in and gives great feedback notes. Tip: When he gives you 3 weeks to prepare for his paper do not push it aside till the last week people.
I had him for a night class that met once a week for 3 hrs. IT WAS PAINFUL. He basically read us his notes and lectured the entire time. If you want a really easy class with a easy professor then, sure, take him, but if you want a professor who makes the class exciting then nah. It was an easy A but It was soooooooooooooo boring in that class.
Pay attention in class and if you don't know what's he's lecturing be prepared to explain yourself in details as to why. Oddly he's hot in his own nerdy way
The good- grades quickly, gives good feedback. The bad- unbelievably easy. You'd have to TRY to fail. I really felt stupid for having taken it seriously and worked so hard (he also allowed one student to waste at LEAST 25 min. of every class with his "insightful" comments). Dr. Tune, you're not helping students by setting the bar so incredibly low.
i took him online and he's really chill. just do the analysis, discussions, and paper and you'll be fine. easy A!
He is awesome, loved the class, and it wasn't boring at all like some people are commenting here. We would ask questions, discuss things about the class and even things in our daily life. Even some students made it fun with their discussions. I left that class interested in knowing more about philosophy, it was really fun. Focus, do homework > A
Easy to follow if you care to pay attention. Makes it clear what is important, including what he finds personally significant in his field. Enjoyable.
For online teacher he was good. I really enjoyed his class. Learned a lot even though i took his class online.
Professor Tune is an amazing teacher. He explains how you're doing with your analysis and where you went wrong. He gives good feedback on assignments. I recommend taking him.
Dr. Tune was awesome! Very attentive and gets content across thoroughly. I was never bored, he's slightly awkward but that was honestly a plus for me, very enjoyable class to be in. Reachable by email in a timely manner. Pay attention when you're there, if you miss make sure to go over modules. Not doing reading analyses anymore, quizzes instead.
Be prepared to buy blue books for exams! No multiple Choice! Daily quizzes for homework. Can be easy if you take good notes, write all his examples and read. Lectures werent interesting (because Im not into philosophy) so pay attention, especially to the modules! Id maybe take him again if he changes his exams to multiple choice!
be prepared to buy a blue book for open essay format exams! lectures are torture! quizzes can be easy but you HAVE to read the links he sends you and you must take notes to answer a question on the quizzes. i thought it was going to be an easy A for the summer but the essay style exams are HARD! He is nice but boring!
Dr. Tune's lectures don't invite much participation, but I'm okay with that teaching style. I've read others complain about the class being boring, but this was not my experience at all. If you're not even a little bit interested in philosophy or ethics, pick another humanities course!
SNOOZE! I would not take him in the morning. He is monotone the entire lecture. He does explain things very well but I found his classes a bit dry since there isn't any participation.
Lectures are straight from Canvas so if you prepare beforehand you are just going to be bored. Short papers every week creating arguments from boring texts. Class doesn't lead to discussion often. For honors it was kinda boring. Tests are handwritten essays. get blue books.
His grading was different and difficult since he went into detail stating a list of things wrong with one of my papers. His grading is harsh no room for improvement. I also felt on my second exam he graded poorly since I did have to email in order for him to double check my question feeling I deserved better score , he agreed soon after. (Online)
Took this class online(Summer 2 5 week course). There are 10 quizzes which based on the readings he provides. They are 3 questions, 2 based on the reading and 1 critical question. 15 minute time limit. He gives test reviews (exactly like the test so take it serious). He grades essay very strictly so I hope you have perfect grammar and punctuation.
He is very knowledgeable and will give many examples to clarify during lectures. There are weekly quizzes but you can take them ahead of time, sometimes the reading for the quizzes can be difficult to understand. But he drops the two lowest quizzes. No extra credit offered but if you do well on quizzes and take notes you wont need extra credit.
Professor Tune is an easy A. There are 12 quizzes 3 questions each and fairly simple. Two papers 800 - 1200 words each, grammar heavy. Two exams with 5 questions paragraphs. Gives a review 1 week prior to exam. Its a simple class pretty straight forward. Just read and you'll be fine.
I've seen some negative feedback on Professor Tune, I would disagree. Professor Tune is amazing, lectures are very interesting and will expand your mind to knowledge you never thought about. Obtaining an easy A is common sense, do the work, study, and you'll pass. I would definitely take him again if I could. Would recommend for flex class as well!
Professor Tune is an incredibly nice guy, but I found his lectures monotonous and dry. There's 12 short quizzes, 2 papers, and 2 exams, and you're able to get A's on everything if you just stay on top of your work. Dr. Tune sticks to his office hours, but he seems flustered when people ask questions which makes it hard to get clear answers.
Lectures everyday, not much of participation in his class. Answers are vague, no definite yes or no. In the essays, he always says there are grammatical errors no matter what resources are used to the check paper before handing it in. Make sure to never forget to do a reading and the quiz, the grades are weighed heavy for them.
I took Dr. Tune my first semester at SAC and I really enjoyed his class. It can get a little boring because he just reads the module, but if you ask questions/speak up during class, it really helps. I highly recommend talking to him one on one as well. His papers are probably the easiest you will write in college. DO THE WEEKLY QUIZZES/READINGS.
He is a funny guy, and I took his class from 6 to 8, and it was always boring to me. Whether it was because it was later in the day, or because I couldnt get interested, who knows! His essays are super easy, but he grades them SUPER hard, so always double check. Make sure to take your quizzes cause they count for alot.
Took Tune's class for into to ethics. It was a pretty easy class as long as you show up to at least most of it. His lectures are full of examples to help you understand what's going on. We only had 2 tests and 2 three page papers all semester, along with a weekly online quiz that was connected to a reading you had to do. Not a hard class.
Dr. Tune is a nice guy but don't expect his class is going to be easy. I took the online class and it's VERY HARD TO GET A. Only few question every week so if you make a mistake your grade is not going to look good. Before my final one of my online classmate emailed me to ask how was I doing and she is worried about her grade. Hope you ready for it
This guy is a very tough grader. Each quiz are only 3 questions. If you get one wrong. You're already down to 60%. He also focuses more on grammatical errors on Papers than the Paper itself. If you have to take this class, search for a fair instructor not one with the,I'm the tough professor, ego. Be forewarned.
Awesome introduction to philosophy! He's super caring, cracks some jokes, and is mild mannered. Went over 10ish ethics theories which is kind of a lot, but I never had to do any outside work. Concepts come across easily so I didn't have to study much since it clicked well during lecture. You don't have to say a word but it's more fun participating!
He gives a quiz every week but they are online. He drops the 2 lowest quizzes. He only gives 2 exams & 2 papers. The study guide he uploads are basically the exam questions. The 2nd paper is your final exam so theres no actual final exam for his class. Lectures are boring but its not a difficult class. Attendance not mandatory.
You can tell he takes pride in what he teaches. Took him for Honors fall semester. Easy A! Lectures get boring but his odd sense of humor makes up for it. Quizzes every week with 3 questions only. He drops 2 of the lowest grades. 2 Essays, 2 exams. He goes over everything fairly well. Don't stress too much on essays, he wants YOUR actual thought.
If you're needing to take Philosophy or Introduction to Ethics, TAKE PROFESSOR TUNE! He is hands down the best. Quizzes are super easy and exams are just as easy as long as you apply yourself. He will drop two of your lowest quiz grades. I'm so glad I took him.
His quizzes and exams are okay. If you are planning on taking his capstone class, he is strict at grading the essays but he tells you exactly what he is looking for.
This professor is very nice and respectful. He only has major assignments, about 4 exams throughout the semester and two papers. The zoom meetings weren't mandatory which is appreciated. You just have to read the modules he uploads and you'll get a good grade on your exams.
The tests were open notes and there was a review given before each test. This made it a lot easier to know what content was required to know for the tests. Dr. Tune would re-go over the chapters and lecture about the different sections of the book. The lectures did get very boring and seemed like a review, rather than a lesson. He would stay on the
For the Introduction to World Religions course he is very laid-back. I took the 5 week summer course and it was a breeze compared to my other courses. If you have a heavy work load, I would take this class. I was usually done with my weeks worth of assignments in two hours tops. I also learned a lot for it being such a concise course.
I really enjoyed this class, it was so easy and very well structured! I never had to worry how the exams were going to be because he states it so clearly throughout the course and his reviews reflect EXACTLY what you need to know for the exam. There was 1 paper but it was super simple! I highly recommend this professor!!
Prof. Tune is very respectful and over all a pretty cool person. He is very lecture heavy but as long as you read the modules and do the exams and discussions you will pass.
Not much to say, just a great professor.. :)
Overall this class was easy and very manageable. There is 10 discussions throughout the semester and 3 exams. Exams were straightforward and backed up by reviews that were given. Tune is somewhat monotone and can be boring, but he is a very nice person and clearly cares about your success! I 100% recommend taking him!!
This class is amazing. I have learned so much from the professors lectures. This has been by far the most interesting class Ive taken so far. I would absolutely take him again. Not much work to do. There are some discussions, 3 exams, and 1 paper. The reading is necessary and it is a lot, but the way he writes will keep you 100% involved.
I would definitely take this professor again. The whole class is based on (10) discussions, (3) exams, and a paper of 1200-1800 words (This was a flex course for me- 8 weeks). You will only fail if you don't do the work. Does not offer extra credit or resubmissions. He does leave good feedback! Choose Dustin Tune as your professor!
Great professor, responds to emails quickly and is available during office hours. Understands that not everyone loves philosophy and are there to complete a degree requirement. Really passionate about teaching and making the material easy to understand. 10/10 would take any philo class with Dr. Tune!
I was going through an extremely bad time and he was so understanding and gave me extra time to turn in assignments.
this professor was super easy to take. there was a short reading once a week and the discussions were based off your own opinions of the readings. he always gave feedback and praise for your discussions which helps with getting better grades on the next assignment. he was so good that i am taking him again for intro to philosophy this semester!
Overall this class was easy and very manageable. modules quizzes straightforward and backed up by reviews that were given. Tune is somewhat monotone, but he is a very nice person, 100% recommend taking him.
Super easy, all you have to do is read the modules and take the quizzes. the reading quizzes were reading heavy. Module quizzes were super easy as long as you actually looked at the module. Only five questions per quiz. Lecture was okay, just a bit boring and the jokes were sometimes awkward. Overall great guy, would take his class again.
Professor Tune is amazing he is lecture heavy and they will be boring but it's an overall easy class the work is just reading a story and a module quiz every Sunday and Tuesday which are fairly easy just have to read with also two papers one in the middle of the semester and one at the end and also you don't have a final would definitely take again
Great professor, its easy to see he's very passionate about what he's teaching. All the learning material is posted in canvas and he just reads it but goes into depth. Attendance is not mandatory, I did most of my work at home. responds quickly in canvas I would take this professor again.
He was an ok teacher. His class is lecture only and the class is not engaging whatsoever. He is also extremely critical and strict when it comes to phones. He will stop the class if he sees one out but he does make it known attendance is not mandatory. He is a very tough grader when it came to essays and essays are a huge bulk of your grade.
This class was actual both simple and educational. Homework and test were easy and straight to the point. Some reading is needed but nothing overwhelming. Take this class, especially if you're doing online. Also, he is very understanding if you ever need an extension for assignments or test.
His only assigns 2-4 assignments a week and they all go off of the reading if you just look back at them. The tests are 5 questions and once you hit next, you cannot go back so its important to be sure about your answer. Unfortunately, he doesn't give extra credit but as long as you keep up with your work, you should be good.
Professor Tune's class is a solid pick - lectures can be dry, but staying engaged and using resources like Unstuck ai for study prep makes it an overall easy A. Definitely take this class if you need a philosophy credit.
Not a bad professor, just nit picky for teaching an intro course, gives really long readings for such a short flex course so i suggest only taking this course with maybe one other or by itself because the reading is very time consuming
