cute and shy,oh, and helpful
Very Clear and helpfull

One of my favorite philosophy teachers. He was very clear, organized, and interesting. I thought the class was pretty easy but it would have been harder if I hadn't already taken Phil 3.
Create use of technology in the classroom. Very aware of current events and how they apply to the course. Should teach more courses.

Do not take his classs if you don't want to go on the internet all the time. He doesn't hand out anything in class, its all online. Lectures are a joke and he just lets people talk about meaningless crap for an hour an a half. Very few notes.
mulder is a good teacher and very good at argumentation. If you keep an open mind and dont mind his political slant, you'll do well in the class and improve your writing skills. Easy for some people, hard for others. Its an "you either get it or you dont" type of deal. :)
lectures have practically nothing to do with the tests, tho interesting. It's one of those classes where if you didn't show up and just skimmed the book, you'd get a B. He's a cool person tho. (We got to watch a couple movie clips and once we watched the Daily Show)
Take this guy...you wont get less than a B for barely trying.Plus you can sleep in lectures
He knows his stuff when he talks about it but he doesn't talk about it very often. He likes his politics. Just do well on the 2 papers and 4 quizzes and you will pass easily.
way to left of the spectrum
Very unclear in expectations, also downright hostile in class. Seemed like it was a great pain for him even have to teach the class. I consider him in the top three worst professors I had while at JC.
Great teacher. Clear on expectations, helpful outside of class, and awesome use of technology. Although lectures aren't always subject related, they are very interesting and informative. The discussions are more relevant to real life, which is nice. Simple amount of hw, I highly recommend.
Lectures are just meaningless babble and not really related to anything. Also the kind of teacher who puts bad papers on the overhead and encourages other students to laugh at them.
He has my respect. I found him very smart...fairly objective...but maybe a little to much for denser students.
Worst teacher I've ever had, for real. He almost cried in class when a student argued with him. Very immature and unprofessional. Got an A and hardly paid attention. Seriousl awful.
If you want to listen to a man ramble on about how he is the smartest thing since Einstein, take his class. My least favorite teacher ever. He teaches nothing. You learn nothing. Find another teacher or bring headphones to class so you dont go crazy!
Very organized and clear if you've done your homework. If you don't keep up with the reading it might be hardto follow im class. Fun videos and discussions.
excellent teacher. intersting examples and clear explanations in class. clearer than thebook.
He is a great teacher I would take his class again if I could. He's clear, organized, and fun to listen to. My advice is to take his class.
awfully boring. this class was a waste of my time. plus he thought he was gods gift to mankind. i wouldn't reccommend it.
Great Teacher? You must be kidding! Dwayne, did you write that? You treacherous doofas you. This guy behaved like a child the entire semester. The most immature "man" I've ever met. The class is so easy, it's laughable. He is a whining, rambling fool! hahhaha. Hey Dwayne, why are you writing nice things about yourself on here, Dwayne?
A very uninteresting teacher and therefore class. I was very much looking forward to Philosophy, but afterwards I couldn't tell you a thing about the class..and I got a B!
Prof. Mulder is by far the most unorganized teacher I have ever had. His lecture hours consist of random and unrelated topics to philosophy. He turns on his music media in hopes to spark a conversation with a student. He assigns essays based on random topics. He doesn't believe in office hours and e-mailing.
The person below me is 100% absolutely correct!!!
Relatively easy class if you PAY ATTENTION. Discussion is interesting if oftentimes slanted in a Liberal way. Nice guy, easy going, easy on the eye when he smiles, something he should do more.
Ok, this was a hard (read:boring) class with a lot of information, but was presented in a clear, concise and interesting way. Not for the faint of heart. Prof was funny and definitely knew his topic. Well laid class objectives and syllabus. Sort of shy, but easy to talk to, slow return of emails. Would have him again.
I learned a lot. It was usually interesting. He's funny and likes to talk with students before class. It was hard work, but I had it for summer school. He posts his lecture notes online, which was great. Have to study for sure. Glad I had him for a teacher.
This teacher is very unorganized and in his lectures he talks about completley unrelated topics to the class. I showed a great interst in Phil5 but now I do not. I do not recommend this teacher.
what is he talking about? confusing, grasshopper help me out
Teacher nice, interesting subject. Explains subject well, resonable amount of homework. Didn't observe any unorganization, very quick class.
constantly off topic. sometimes inapropriate subjects that can make you uncomfortable. the work itself is easy tho - tons of opportunity for xtra credit. almost everything is online, including notes for book chapters. doesn't always make clear test questions, but are all multiple choice. overall, easy class. but that's all you will like
Teacher there, talks about personal life too much, needs to get in phil. 35 minutes then on to subject daily.
Ok, yes music is played, it is nice to listen to. Yes he does talk, that is how learning is achieved. Cool class, no stress to it, do the reading take a few quizes and there you go, great grade!
easy class, just read the books, easy quizes, nice relaxed class, no stress, take this class it will open your mind. yes he talks, that is how he tells about subject, what teacher does not speak?!?!?!?!? cool teacher, very good class
The summer phil 5 was a great class, he had funny stories and stuff. The books are cool, unspun is such a good book, you have to take this class!! It will so open ur eyes!! Easy easy, and funny, laid back teacher.
I don't know about anything about what that other person said, but I kind of understand the subject now thanks to this teacher who must be driven nuts by those that have trouble understanding it! It wasn't that bad of a class, and it was very interesting. The 2 films are great! Those helped a lot, this is a good teacher! Take this teacher
You have to take this teacher. This is a strange subject, everyone thinks they are critical thinkers, but after you take this you will be looking at things a little differently, and you won't be taken for a ride so to speak. The unspun book to have to read was GREAT! Sure, he isn't a pushover, but it is a really good class to learn some things.
thank god its over confusing seemed class all got it but me
Summer class pretty good, listen to lecture and you don't need the book, but if you want a great grade read it. He does ramble on. Great class nice instructor, cares that you get it.
Easy, very interesting, take this teacher easy!
Lectures are funny and you will never look at the news or tv the same again. Really easy class, he goes over everything!
Professor Mulder is very smart, and not bad to look at. Subject a bit confusing, what isn't these days. Grades fairly, lets you sleep, eat, just be. EASY
Cute, obscene sense of humor. This class is a riot. If you are having a bad day, sleep he doesn't care.
unspun me!
Class consisted of: being read to, some students fell asleep. Others who wished to learn, found out about swim classes and his fasination for ****. Fun class, subject confusing but interesting, unspun book very helpful and eye opening. Take this teacher, try not to be offened, some things should not be said but once its out there what to do?
Know expression there is no dumb question?; Mulder never heard of that. You will be ridiculued and made fun of by him. He is total ass. Don't take.
hey don't mention tacobell n caulkcheese things, went psychomean on class...does he have stock in it or work therre parttime?????creep teach mean an uglyman
This teacher is strange, he spends the time showing his web page on the projector instead of lecturing. It is a waste of time, confusing class, and he is rude to students. Also, he talks about himself, who cares.
From comments in past semesters, he seems all fine an dandy as a teacher. All I can say is he must be having some troubles at home of just pissed off at life this semester. He went on a crazy rampage last class about how he can't stand republicans & their ideas. Pretty easy class, but goes on unnecessary rambling sessions about every other week.
A Joke..Worse teacher ever, brings his political views into class when he should leave them at home. Just today he went crazy on one of my peers in class because he disagreed on a subject..He also hates republicans and thinks there nothing but hicks and rednecks..Heard it from his own mouth..His lectures are a joke and you do not learn a thing!
arrogant... that's the first thing (of many) that comes to mind. he thinks that his students are idiots and that he is above everyone. we don't do anything in class but look online, then we have online tests that cover nothing from in class! all he does is talks about politics (his side of politics) and himself. and he interupts his students. i hav
If you want to learn anything at all... don't take Phil. from this guy. It wasn't very difficult to get an A but I lost my sanity sitting in his class. He spent more lectures ranting about his political views than teaching. Don't take it.
Would never take another class from him. He is above reproach, thinks far too highly of himself and his philosophical ideas that there is no room for others.
Seriosly easy class. The quizzes were online so you could use notes and the text. But it was boring and he's a pretty annoying guy. He thinks he's hilarious and wouldn't believe for a second that he's not right about everything all the time. If you disagree with him, your wrong.
Absolute worse teacher I have ever had.
He gets worked up easily... I suggest he try deep breathing. This was a very entertaining (and easy) class.
I was fascinated at the start but just don't get all the differences in arguments. my only real complaint is that the tests are never when he says they will be online. i took an online class so i could work around my work schedule and he made it impossible.
Intro. to Philosophy class, what can I say. Dwayne is not a very confidant person, so I sort of felt bad for him; especially when this one guy would pick fights with him in class about his philosophical views. I don't feel like I learned much from the class( it's easy), but Dwayne is a nice guy; although not very good at explaining complex stuff
Extra credit, on-line quizes (open book). It's an easy grade
Mulder has issues. While it is true that he is intelligent and knows his subject, he has a tendency to go severely off topic of "screw around" with random things. IE: watch a movie about Atlantis. While this is annoying, Muldur's stance toward the student body is that of a slightly dejected boss ridiculing his staff. This is not good.
Pretty boring class, material isn't always explained well, but it was pretty easy. Quizzes and a few other assignments are done online. Gets flustered easy, doesn't know how to handle problem students.
Mulder is easy, and his online notes are excellent. Everything is turned in online, and his tests are scantron. The weakness in Mulder is his lecture. He never prepares a lesson plan, so around 90% of in class time is off topic. Luckily, participation is such a small part of your grade you really only need to go every other class or so-- if that.
READING MANDATORY (Books, Online Material, Teacher's online notes, video notes) Ask on topic questions, classroom seems to get off-topic easy. Read ahead and do all book exercises. feels like an online class with a lecture tacked on. Great in the sense you can ask the teacher directly about parts you are held up on.
A bit confused with Mulder. Attended all his classes, did all the homework, and the tests are open book open note (and he posts all the notes online), but still got a crap grade. He's a nice person, but gets off-topic. He got along with the students until he brought up political opinions. Then it was a constant argument. Not cool.
I think we spent an entire class talking about the iPhone 5 once... doesn't lecture well or stay on topic. Nice guy. Confusing teacher.
Mulder is a great teacher, you need to attend class (duh). Tests were all open book which helps, but you need to pay attention (duh again). The class is full of useful information andMulder does a great job teaching the class!
The way Mulder teaches this class is a joke. If you want to be intellectually stimulated I don't recommend taking Critical Thinking with this teacher. On the flip-side, if you enjoy putting little effort into your work this class will suit you.
I enjoyed the class overall. The teacher was rather odd, but I enjoyed his little talks and outbursts of nimble intellectual joy. Grading wise, you need to read the books and you'll get an A or B. A Simple and non committal class, just filling out requirements to go to a UC... Take the class, but be warned you're taking it to transfer.
"Old Doc Mulder" or whatever he called himself was an incredibly boring teacher. Turning in the homework online is a hassle and the deadlines were very strict. I did well on the tests (including aceing the final) but missed a few assignments, which resulted in a 69.2% grade. Did not bump me the .8%, now I must repeat. Will not take him again.
(Summer class) He's overall an above average teacher. His weakness is: only average lectures (kind of dry) and goes off on a few tangents sometimes, but I found that enjoyable enough. He's a very nice person with a very easy grading system and class. It was the most laid back class I ever took out of my 50 units. Keep in mind I did PHIL3, not PHIL5
Dr. Mulder knows his stuff! Because he is so clear in his understanding of the material it takes a critical thinker to evaluate and ask questions when a specific topic of his lectures go over your head. Don't take this class if you don't use CT in your everyday life but if you want to learn more about the topic take his class!
He's a great teacher and all but his lectures are VERY dry. Attendance is 5 %of your grade so bare with it. Gives us a set of notes online; I never opened my book once. Also, we got two EASY extra credit opportunity which will boost your grade by 10%
No exams, just the final. This class is very easy. If you have any motivation to do well in school, show up to class, and have common sense, you will get an A. Online homework and essays are pretty easyshort. You don't need to read the book (use his notes). Long, boring lectures but sometimes they are interesting. You will be a better thinker.
Very knowledgeable guy, though he is a bit awkward and goofy at times. He does go off on tangents. Small book so there wasn't much reading and the assignmentsessays were short and easy. Attendance isn't an issue as long as you read his online notes, the book, and keep up with the schedule. Tests were super easy. Overall, this class was an easy A.
This is and probably will always be the easiest class of my SRJC school career. He offers tons of extra credit and the material on the tests is easy along with being open book and open note
You will be expected to write at college level. His notes, posted online, are essential reading. Notes will be clarified during lectures and posted on exams. He will not tolerate obstinance, so phrase any questions with respect for his immense knowledge. He's a clear cut instructor, bit impersonal, sometimes funny, fair grader, and generally kind.
Got funnier as semester went on. "Lecture" is reviewing notes and exercises you were suppose to do at home. Can use all notes, books, & internet on exams/hw. Can definitely miss class. Don't need big textbook. Just spend time on your quizzes and do all work asked and you will pass. No studying needed, just look back at his notes during quiz.
I absolutely loved Mulder, he's the "dad next-door" type. Easy grader, short quizzes on reading, and as long as you read, these boost your grade. Provides very helpful notes/summaries of the reading on his website, and offers a few opportunities for extra credit. Very friendly, allows laptop use in class. I would absolutely take his classes!!!
Doc mulder will help you and he is definitely available to help you. Most of the class focusses on, deductive, and inductive arguments, which goes into how we can be less deceived by the media, and product sellers. We must not believe all we hear. And no the media is not corrupt, you will learn this too. key to sucess in this class is stay unspun
Highly recommend everyone to take this instructor!!! He's very nice and his grading is clear.
He has his weird things he does and gets very side tract but if you read and do well on the online quizzes you'll pass no problem. Hes a good prof and cares about his students.
Dwayne is a good professor, i would highly recommend him to anyone. He is funny and tells little stories that makes the class go by faster. He does have a lot of tests in his Phil 3 class. 7, including the final, to be exact. But if you prepare for them, its an east A.
If you need an easy A, take this class. The grades are based on canvas quizzes which have no time limit, and a final which is also on canvas, which is open book and open computer. Plus for the final, for example if you have an A, if you show up to the final and get at least a 55%, you will keep your A grade.
I was nervous taking this class but Mulder made it so much fun that I ended up loving philosophy! He takes more of a modern approach by helping us identify reliable vs unreliable critical thinking skills online and news sources. The required reading is two very cheap books and your grade is based on exercise sets that aren't timed and open note.
It's like someone dropped acid and wrote a class.... which I'm sure some people love but I hated this class. The tests left me feeling like "what did I just do for the past three hours? I want my time back!" If you're passionate about philosophy this is probably a great class but as a sub for English......... just take the English course.
This course is an easy A. 6 tests, weekly (optional) discussion posts, and 1 big research discussion post. The questions for the tests are straight from the section notes that Mulder provides. There's no textbook, but 2 small books are referenced throughout the semester. Great professor, super straight forward class. Take him, you won't regret it!
I felt like I had no other choice but to drop his class. I messaged him multiple times regarding an error on the practice assignment, but he gave short vague responses rather than a few minutes of his time to work it out. He seems like a laid back guy, but he was unavailable when I needed him. It felt like he did not care, or know how to help.
I contacted Mulder about an error on the practice assignment; however, he told me it was not an error and that I was wrong. Turns out, I was right and the question was wrong. He made an announcement in class about having to fix a question - guess which one. This made the first few weeks difficult because I was being told I was wrong, and I wasn't.
A straight forward, true self paced class with engaging content and lightly demanding work. Mulder is an actual gem, providing extra credit opportunities and appearing personally engaging, without required meetings or videos. MOST IMPORTANTLY, as long as you pass the final (55%) your overall grade does not drop. ANGEL.
I was nervous about taking this class, but I ended up having a good time! He is a very chill professor and very approachable. The course might feel somewhat challenging, but as long as you keep up with the readings and assignments, youll do great. I highly recommend you take him. I cant imagine taking philosophy with any other professor!!!
Great Prof!
Not really sure why so many people said his tests were easy. Each test I felt like the chapters and chapters that I read had absolutely nothing to do with the tests. Despite me reaching out and asking for guidance and him ignoring my need to speak through zoom. Barley passed the class and would NOT take again. All quizzes and like three discussions
He provides his own "textbook" and gives notes on each chapter. The book is relatively easy to comprehend. It may seem like a lot of reading for those who don't enjoy reading. The tests were open note/book, and he allows you to take them twice (if you want) to receive the average score of the attempts. I believe you get many tries for the quizzes.
Nice guy and an easy class. If you do the work well expect to receive an A. He is an easy grader, who sets you up for success. Only one extra credit opportunity, but has the ability to improve your grade significantly. Mostly homework questions that are based off the reading, but also a couple of written assignments and one essay.
the best phil3 professor!
Absolutely loved this proffessor. He was extremely clear in his lectures and very easy going. Not much homework and minimal quizzes. Absolutely would take again!
Doctor Mulder is passionate about his subject and cares about students. He teaches important skills. Fairly lenient with grading, you can miss a couple of classes without severely impacting your grade, and retake quizzes twice with scores averaged. One extra credit assignment that can really boost your grade. Two books, I downloaded as PDFS free.
Every class feels like he just phoned it in, and it's so unorganized. He just seems to drop an essay and readings from the heavens with very little time to do it and no thought that he could tell us ahead of time to plan it out.
Mulder is a passionate professor who makes this philosophy course engaging. With open-note/book tests, optional discussions, and multiple quiz attempts, the workload is manageable. Unstuck AI's practice tools were a big help for exam prep.
I'm still mid-semester Not impressed with his aloofness. Provides NO feedback on written assignments. Doesn't do online lectures (recorded or live) Not interactive. I'm a good student and so far, I find the class boring and he doesn't seem to care about anything. NOT IMPRESSED!
He's disorganized using Canvas, I had anxiety with all the multiple things he would repost & then i'd lose track of the things that were due because he kept posting more stuff. We didn't get much time to work on things, gave short notice on assignments. Weekend work expected. I bought the textbooks but didn't use them. Overall easy to get an A.
