He really clears up this required subject for us
No Comments
I HATED this class, he was a horrible full of himself teacher. Avoid taking him at all costs, for your own sanity
boring but easy
No Comments
Has very strong opinions and he talks in circles. It's hard to get a handle on what he talks about, but if you study the practice midterms, you'll do fine in the class. Just don't listen to him.
This class was pretty easy but rather boring. A lot of class is spent talking about random current political or media issues. There are 5 quizzes, a mid term and a final. As long as you study his web pages and skim thru the reading you should do well!
I thought he did a very good job teaching this course. He is pretty geeky but overall is fun to talk to and he makes it easy to participate in class. Skimming the reading to do good ob quizes. Take the practice tests on the site to do good on tests.
he was such an easy teacher, dispite all the conversations on politics. he posts qizzes and your status in the class online which was awsome. you hardly need to attend to get an A. Definitly take him.
This class is pretty easy. He makes it so that u can participate and makes every effort to make sure u do well on the tests. Although not always exciting classes, some of the discussions can be interesting.
This class is really easy, but the teacher is very opinionated and gets mad when you do not agree with him. The classes were boring because he never had anything planned.
Never has plans for class meetings. Takes forever to grade papers. He isn't clear about what will be on tests, but if you do the reading (or maybe even if you don't) you should be ok. I got absolutely nothing out of this class and would only recommend it if you're looking for an easy GE course.
He is an easy teacher and a nice guy, but he is very unclear about the subject matter. If you like philosophy take this class for an easy A, don't expect to learn much, and if you are not into the subject at all, this class may be a bit more difficult but you will probalby still get at least a C.
Ethics is tough to talk about, but he always tried to bring out a clear point from discussions and the textbooks
Cool, interesting, controversial, but fun
Some of his quiz questions where on his website, but the ones that weren't were off the wall. Everyone did bad on his quizes. To make it clear, he can't teach and he sucks.
pretty easy. no essays easy quizes and ok midterms. but mulder is a jerk. sure hes a little funny here and there. but if you disagree with anything he shuts you down and treats you like an idiot. i think he thinks everyone is an idiot but himself. he even called a girl a **** in class. hes rude.
Such an easy class. The quizzes made up the midterm and final, so you had the perfect study guides. No papers, homework, etc. I didn't learn much, but I hear there's only one really teaches students. So, if you need a class for GE that is ridiculously simple, take Mulder's Phil101.
The class is easy 5 15 question quizzes a midterm and a final which are all multiple choice. He puts extra credit questions on all tests/quizzes, but is strict on attendance. I have above a 100 percent it is NOT hard. He's pretty boring, there's not much to him and is extremely opinionated but ok guy.
I really enjoyed this class. I liked the way the curriculum was set up; quizzes, two big tests, and extra credit. I always felt very prepared for the tests and liked the way Dwyane posted scores on his webpage almost immediately. Take this class.
well, prof mulder is a nice guy, but lectures were SO boring, & tended to get political & always biast. the conservatives, felt uncomfortable and that opposing views could not be expressed. he also seems to me to have a bit of a public speaking fear, he didnt command respect. but overall, he's a pretty good prof & id recommend him.(espec if u r lib

Incredibly easy class. Unfortunately, I didn't learn a thing.
The class wasn't too difficult. The tests are easy if you know how to test. Lectures were boring and I slept through most of them, I never read the book, and I still got a 96% in the class.
he is boring but it is an easy class. he is helpful and assignments are easy. if you can stay awake for him, it is a good class
nice guy...id take it again...really easy
Incredibly easy course; just read the chapters and ignore him. He's nice enough, but boring and not terribly helpful. Going to class would be pointless, except that attendance is part of the grade. Take the class-and take something to do while you're in it.
Really nice guy, helpful, really easy class. Four tests, one midterm, one final. No papers. Good class.
boring and talks off-track a lot!
He thinks he is much smarter than he is. Don't get me wrong, he's a nice guy it's just the class is basically the book.
you're either good at philosophy or you're not. I'm not. To me, everything is really ambiguous and so test questions are sometime's difficult. I'm not a bad test taker, and his tests were difficult for most. your grade is based purely on the tests b/c there is no hw so you have to do well in order to get a good grade in the class. funny, nice guy
Good guy. He gets off track and can be kind of boring though. No papers, the only kind of homework is reading. If you listen in class or read at least the summaries right before the tests you'll do fine. Attendence does go into your grade though and he takes it randomly.. so go as much as possible.
he is such a nice guy...reminded me of mr rogers, but with a philosophical twist. he has a deep passion for philosophy, but like everyone else said his class is boring. he has mastered the art of talking in circles. overall good guy and not a very hard class
The class is pretty easy and is straight from the book. Mulder is a poor lecture who likes to go on tangents that are unrelated to the course material. He is a hardcore liberal and will treat you poorly if you disagree with him. Unfortunately, attendance is mandatory so you must go to class. 5 quizzes (drops the lowest), 2 midterms, and a final
The class is pretty easy, philosophy is one of the easier subjects around. He's kind of a jerk when you talk to him after class. Attendance is part of the grade, but bring something else to do. I'm liberal, but became annoyed by the constant Bush bashing. If you need Philosophy take Mulder, I’ve heard the other teachers are horrible.
One of the easiest classes I've taken at Sonoma. Read the textbook and you'll do fine. Mulder isn’t a very nice person when you talk to him 1 on 1. He rambles on about politics during class, so bring something else to do. You have to go to class as you are graded on attendance. One of the least intelligent professors I've had-but hey, I got an A.
Interesting for a required class. Dr. Mulder loves his topic, relies heavily on the text and will work with you if you have questions. Not an easy "A", but doable if you come to class and read the book. Liked him.
This guy's pretty cool. He seems like an alright guy. But, like everyone's saying about him being interesting. I'm kinda used to this guy, because he's like my dad. I think all Ph.D's like to talk and talk and talk and talk and talk. My dad's a Laser Physicist and once you get him on Physics he never stops talking. Mulder's the same. But he's best.
he gives 4 quizzes 1 mid term and 1 final. he doesnt collect much hw but reading is a must if you want to know whats up. hes not that good at explaining things and when it comes to exams, he has high expectations. print out his notes online prior to class and use them to jot down notes also a sense of humor might help. harder than expected
This guy is extremely BORING. I try to pay attention in class, but I find that the online notes are extremely helpful. A note of caution: this is NOT an easy A. You will get a B if you go the easy route, but putting a little bit of time in will bring that up.
Pretty easy class. Mulder is a terrible teacher and an awful lecturer. The material is actually pretty interesting, but Mulder tries to shape the class in a way that he can let his political messages spread rather than actually teach the subject. Class was based almost entirely on tests and quizzes. Attendance is worth 10% of your grade.
If you enjoy sleeping in class then this is the right one for you. His lectures are pointless. He talks about his ideas rather then what you get tested on. Your attendance grade will save you, so go to class. Tests are a little tricky but do the extra credit and you should have no problem passing. Take mulder if you want boring and easy.
I didnt learn a damn thing in his class. had know idea what he as talking about half the time. Th only good thing about this class is that you can use a full page of notes on ever quiz and test.
The most organized professor I have ever had. Best use of the web! Allows 1 page hand written notes.
He's just criticises conservatives. He thinks John Mccain's ads are nasty and Palin is stupid. HE can't be fair about it. He won't see anything wrong with the wonderful tear-a-wrist Obama.
He is terrible. Total left-wing nut. Half the class is his political opinions. He got in a confrontation with a student which ended in a canceled class. He is really easy and doesnt teach just reads answers from the book all period. Dont voice your opinion unless its agreeing with him. Horrible
Mulder is an easy teacher. Others say he projects his political opinion, I have not seen this once. Attending class is mandatory it will help your grade. He grades on curves and allows 3 page of notes on certain quizzes. He reads off his posted online notes in class. I recommend him for GE Phil 101
It is a very easy class...all of the notes are online, tests and quizzes are multiple choice and curved, and there is extra credit. He's very opinionated though.
"Extremely easy" is all I can say about this class. If you like to have fun(drink, smoke, play games) in college and never study, but still wish to show your parents good grades, Mulder is here to make that dream come true. Some people wish to learn about philosophy, I can respect that; however some of us here just want to get GE out of the way ok?
Easy class as far as grades go but the class itself is going to be the most boring hour and fifteen minutes of your life. Lectures that drag on, rambles about useless information. He constantly says his opinons which are annoying and on multiple occasions made negative references to us as students i.e." Sonoma State students are far from 'stellar'"
He is extremely easy and does not ask a lot of his students. Even though the lectures are boring, just show up anyway. He does take roll. Homework is rare and easy, tests are easy if you read the chapter beforehand. He's rants on about things sometimes that don't matter. And will definitely tell you the same story twice. Take this class. Easy A!
I absolutely hate this class. It's boring and difficult to understand. Although it is difficult to understand, most of the homework is online and all the tests/quizes are open book. He's really biased and not very helpful. It's probably the easiest class, but it's so hard to pay attention. He's boring.
If you want an easy class, take him. It's hard to follow because he goes on a lot of tangents but an A is really easy to manage if you do the homework. You can miss 10 classes before it hurts your attendance and he curves the tests. Take him to earn an A, but don't expect to learn much.
This class was seriously a joke. I NEVER attended. and got a 9/10 on my attendance. all his assignments are online. all the tests are open notes. i didnt learn a thing. if you want an easy class, take it. if you want to learn something, dont take it
he can be very rude and talk nonsense. i hated this class because i didn't learn anything and it just wasn't fun. sometimes, we did get out early, which was nice. homework is online...make sure you do it!
Is Mulder very liberal? Yes. Is his class boring? Yes. Is he sometimes awkward? Yes. However, no one has the right to complain about this class. His class is very easy and you never have to write a single paper in his class. He lets you bring in pages of notes for all of his tests. I would highly reccomend this class to those that want an easy time
Mulder is probably the easiest teacher you will ever have in college. Part of his grading is on attendence, but one can sit in class on their laptop the entire time. All of the homework is online. i actually never bought the book and i still passed the class with a B. and each test is 2 pgs front and back of notes.

He is extremely easy. I don't know what your philosophy is with learning but he honestly added nothing to my knowlege base. I would recommend you take another teaching in philosophy 101 if you actually want to learn something. He also never asks for student opinion during lecture. Really boring.
This class is super easy so long as you go to class, sometimes I wouldn't read the book but it was fine because Dr. Mulder would go over it the next day. His lectures are a bit long; I spent most of my time on my laptop. He also has a great sense of humor. If you're looking for a chill class this is it!
Easiest class you will ever take. Probably the most boring and pointless as well. You will learn nothing, but will get his liberal views shoved upon you. If you question anything he will take it personally and be so upset that he will rant about it for an hour and then let you leave early. But take the class for the easy A and sit on your computer.
One of the easiest classes I have taken at SSU. However, I felt as if I learned absolutely nothing while in his class. He has a decent sense of humor and definitely lets you know his political views. Allowed to use notes on exams. If you want an easy A take this class, but if you want to learn something I'd suggest getting a different professor.
His class was fair. The homework is hard but the tests aren't. He gives many extra credit opportunities and he is silly. At times he rambles, but you can't dislike him.
This class was very easy and you barely had to attend in order to pass. The material is confusing but he makes the tests all open book and open note so it is hard to fail. This is a easy GE and Dwayne is very nice and easy to talk to.
The material is boring but Dr. Mulder tries his best to make class better! He is so nice and doesn't want students to fail his class. He assigns a quick presentation on an assigned book chapter, 1-2 open note midterms, a final (also open note) and a few online homework assignments that are a bit confusing but helpful for the tests!
this class was definitely not the most interesting. Dwayne Mulder is kind of an awkward guy. This class is what you make of it. If you actually try to follow the lectures is very straight forward. All tests open note and book. He posts notes throughout the class that are extremely helpful
Professor Mulder is very nice and approachable. The homework's can be a little challenging but tests are open notes, even finals. There is only 1 presentation but it's not a big deal can be 1-2 mins long. As long as you listen in class and do good on homework you can get an A. His notes on Moodle are very helpful.
Mulder is awesome! He's totally a goofball who cracks corny jokes, but also is very informative and knowledgeable! Make sure to keep on top of the online exercises on Moodle (he always reminds you) and make sure you have the UnSpun book, which is more important than the textbook. Also, open notes/ book on the tests! Love this guy!! An SSU must
Very vocal about political viewpoints. His way or the highway with a lot of things. Definitely wouldn't take this class again. Class doesn't cover much, online homework is what matters, yet attendance is mandatory so you need to spend time in his class, even though it's pointless.
easiest class in the world
He starts class 10 mins late everyday and lets us go 20-30 min early everyday. Class is him talking the entire time or watching videos. VERY easy class. Don't need to listen to him talk really but should watch the videos for homework. All homework is an online quiz, which are pretty easy. 2 Midterms, 1 Final. All are open book/note, taken online.
It's easy but no critical thinking is done in the class. His lectures are just from his website so you don't actually learn anything new. The three tests were fine. He never really seemed prepared for class. He also just spends a lot of time giving his political and religious opinions and saying people who disagree are stupid.
He is a really good professor who is passionate about what he teaches. He posts the notes online, gives homework once a week, and all exams are open note/open book. He says you need the textbook but his lectures/notes give you all the material you'll need. He takes attendance so you have to show up. I'd definitely recommend him.
This is the easiest class for PHIL 101 you can take. Weekly homework assignments with answers in the notes he types up on his website. Entered the class with a 92%, but offers like 8 to 9% of extra credit by finding ex: spin and fallacies. Gives you PDF to the textbook, so all you really need is UnSpun, and Science and Religion. Also curves tests.
The course itself is difficult but he gives you many opportunities to practice and get credit just for doing the work. He makes it really easy to pass the homework, but you have to put in your own work to really know the content. Also nice that he allows you to use your notes and his online notes for tests. As far as I know he's the best
He's honestly the nicest prof i've ever had. People really do take advantage of him and it's sad. Easy A class. He provides one of the textbooks, but honestly i have an A and i didn't read any of the books. We literally don't do anything in class compared to other phil 101 classes i've heard about. 2 online midterms (open notes) and a final.
Easy class if you go to 80% of the classes, the majority of the classes are lectures and all quizzes are taken online and are multiple choice.
PLease do not take this class if it is online. Canvas is a mess, readings are all over the place, and one of the books you have to read is so boring. The quizzes are impossible. I heard he was really good teacher and I am sure he is in person... but not online!!! He also does not hold any classes it's completely asynchronous
Professor Mulder was awesome, he was such a great teacher I took another class he taught. Very little homework and test are so easy the answers are in the books. Barley have to participate he is saucy a nice guy.
Took PHIL105, presentation once a week, if you did it, you got full credit. Prompts are super easy to form a response to for both the written and spoken reflections. He does provide his thoughts about the topic after everything you said. Online midterms and final are taken through canvas. But if you just show up and do it, you'll pass with an A.
I saw another review voicing a similar complaint, but this teacher just uses class time to make really bad jokes and push his own opinions. I have screenshots of quiz questions that are more joke than material, making it kind of difficult to answer. gives middle school atheist vibes.
Easy class for GEs, all work & tests are online. He does add his opinion and says a few too many jokes, but it's a GE, take it for marking off a GE.
Dr. Mulder is a great professor. he is very funny and caring. The class is a little boring but its an easy A if you try on the homework assignments
Very easy class. Ten presentations are required to pass the class. Gives feedback to you. Is a bit of a yapper and talks a lot about himself during lectures. You will pass if you do the assignments and tests are very easy. The final is an at-home online final. Nice and chill professor.
This professor encourages participation, and the class is kind of sad when no one does anything. He is a really nice and caring professor, doesn't grade harshly and doesn't give much work.
