Hes the F'N man enough said.
Goodyear is the man. He may be liberal, but he does not impose his views on you. He is open minded and not hateful against the other point of view. He's hilarious, and his tests are too easy.
Just a great teacher, has a comedic approach that draws the students in and gets his message across. Evoks very interesting class room discussion by drawing you in with hilarity
Professor Goodyear is intelligent, witty and fun. Yet, He is obviously serious about finding the Truth.
Good year is the MAN. I have taken him for 3 different courses and will be taking him for a 4th course in the fall. Ive used up all my goodyear time. Doesn't assign much work, has a way though of getting you to think. You'll never leave a Goodyear class and NOT think about some theory he told you
amazing, such an easy teacher but you definitely learn stuff. awesome guy that doesn't impose his views on you and presents all sides to issues. just an awesome teacher.
This professor was amazing! He made class so much fun that you actually wanted to learn about it. He was very funny as well and liked to have people debate. A question would be thrown out there and everyone would have different opinions. The assignments were easy and his tests were even easier. I would definitely recommend him to anyone.
Goodyear definetly made class entertaining and interesting and you never left class without some kind of question or theory in mind but most of all he was the most understanding professor I have ever had. I specifically had some issues sterring up and when most professors would have told me to deal with it he comepletly understood and for thank you
one of the best teachers i've ever had. funny and interesting. cares about his students.
Awesome teacher funny and knows alot about the subject he is teaching. REcomend him completly, and if you dont like him it must be you thats the problem.

F-in hilarious.. great guy. (also very intelligent)
One of the best teachers who knows how to relate to his students.
everyone else already said it. but hey - amazing guy, in my top 3 professors out of all 3 colleges that i have been too. very smart - ask him to show you his piano skills too, why not!

Very fun and easy class, Prof Goodyear is very funny...at first I thought it was going to be boring, but class seemes to pass by really fast
I took Ethics online, good experience. Makes class enjoyable, and sets forth what is expected of you from the start. Read, take notes as you go along, and use your notes to study for the exams. Discussion questions were interesting. Amount of work was minimal, yet you still learn about the subject.
Great teacher, know's his ethics. VERY funny..will keep you entertained throughout the class. He is flexible with the work he hands out and prepares the class for midterms and finals. Great prof. 2 take
Great professor. I took 2 classes with him and would take more.
LOVE LOVE LOVE HIM! He is an awesome teacher and really cares about his students.
LOVE LOVE LOOOOOVVVEE HIM! He is extremely funny and nice. If you can take it, definitely do it. He will make the class worthwhile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He's really good at explaining things if you take the time to ask questions. Very helpful teacher.
Prof Goodyear is the Best!!! If you have to take a Philosophy class don't go to anyone else. He makes a subject that could be extremely boring, totally entertaining! He's also a very fair guy. You have to do the work, but he doesn't make it too difficult and you know what's expected of you
loved this teacher!! He makes a boring topic very interesting. Hes very entertaining! recommend him highly!!! If you need to take this class without a doubt take it with him!!!!!
One of the worst profs ever, unfunny, pompus and all together not that bright. Alot of people like him, it seems, at least from reading other's views and comments here. So if you do, good for you, if you ask me Goodyear is sort of a Goodyear blimp.
Crystal clear teaching of complicated stuff. Very interesting diatribes based on some very boring stuff. Is teaching for the benefit of humanity. Highly recommended!
Had him a year ago, great professor, really funny and knows his stuff. Also he is really fair and honest, and will take time out to help students, gave me good advice about recommendations. If you ever get a chance to take his course, do so, you will not regret it.
Great Prof.very interesting, helpful and really is into his work...knows his stuff...just a great person altogether ...i would highly recommend his class
VERY NICE AND HELPFUL PROFESSOR. HAD HIM LAST SEMESTER AND THANKS TO HIM I'M MAKING PHILOSOPHY A MINOR. BEFORE TAKING HIS CLASS I HAD NO INTEREST ON EVEN KNOWING WHAT PHILOSOPHY REALLY IS. TAKE HIS COURSE! YOU WILL HAVE GOOD LAUGHS AND LEARN A LOT AT THE SAME TIME. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK PROFESSOR!!
He's a really cool guy.
I had Dr.Goodyear for both Modern Philosophy in class and Ethics online. The guy knows his stuff and is crystal clear in his teaching methods. As long as you read the materials, participate in class, and study for the tests, you will pass. Anyone saying he's a bad professor is just plain lazy!
I can't believe you thought I called you the Goodyear Blimp. Ha ha...Dr. Good-Life is the best teacher I have encountered and would recommend to sit in on a class to watch him unravel the thoughts of many different philosophers. Best class: Philosophy of Art
Dr. Goodyear is just one cool dude.
cool but didnt enjoy his class
Goodyear rules. Took his intro to ancient/medieval philosophy class, and I looked forward to his lectures each week. He is VERY animated in class and makes you want to listen. Hes like a very smart cartoon character. Very helpful in and out of class, and a fair grader. You will get an A in his class if you study, listen, and participate RECCOMENDED
Great professor! If you have to fill a humanities credit and/or have an interest in philosophy, take his class. In modern philosophy, he covered Francis Bacon, Thomas Hobbes, Rene Descartes, Karl Marx, Soren Kierkegaard, and John Stuart Mill. For Descartes, Kierkegaard and Mill, we had primary sources; I recommend you read them.
I took Applied Logic - he really teaches something that you will be able to apply to your life and use in your every days! Be prepared to read and write some essays, but he provides most of the material for them! Tests are fair - read the book, attend classes and you will totally pass with flying colors. Very funny, too!
THE man. His fake cigarette drags off of his pieces of chalk got me through more than a couple lectures. He is smart and funny and just a great teacher. Check out his c.d. Ghost. so bizarre, so goodyear...
ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL TEACHER. Professor Goodyear is utterly amazing! He makes difficult material extremely understandable and always keeps class interesting. There's a good amount of writing involved but it's worth it. Definitely get the textbook; you'll be using it. He's always available for help and a philosophical chat. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Worst professor ever, I never dropped a class before this guy but was all too happy to do so. He talks way too much and all about nothing. Would take philosophy again but not with him. He is too confusing left the class with less than I went in with, if thats possible. I would never recommend him, sorry he's just not worth the time.
Very nice professor. Show him a little interest and do the required essays and you'll do well in his class. His tests are difficult but still a pretty easy class.
He's really good. Hilarious too.He wants and challenges his students to think. I will never think philosophy is for dummies after taking his class. Good, will take him again.
I really liked his class. He made things educational but also interesting at the same time. The exams were fair enough so that if you read the chapter you knew exactly what answers to choose. Wish I would have taken him again this past semester. Easy A, kids.
Prof Goodyear: nimble, fast, entertaining and serious all at once. He adeptly connects different philosopher's ideas with "real" life, and with historic and current events. Altho' he speaks fast, making lots of associations quickly; he repeats key concepts when tackling new ones, and welcomes questions. A generous spirit, and brilliant.
Amazing Professor. Very passionate about his class and very helpful on all assignments.
Dr. Goodyear is extremely passionate about Philosophy. You can tell from your first day of class that he devotes a enormous amount of time to his lectures. He is more than okay with helping you with any questions you may have. There is a good amount of writing involved but if you go to class and do the work, you'll be fine. You won't regret it!
This. Man. Is. Awesome. Easily one the best professors at WCC! He is super passionate about teaching, and engaging during his lectures. Gives a midterm and a final, and had to write 3 papers. He's always willing to help; he'll review your papers before you hand them in and give you a ton feedback. Take him, you won't regret it!
He reads everything that students write, and responds in detail. He is knowledgeable and dedicated to his work.
Prof. Goodyear is a fantastic professor. He cares about philosophy and draws you into it, too, with his lectures. Get the textbooks (they're essential). Overall you'll learn more about philosophy than you ever thought you would, and enjoy it. I would recommend him to anyone.
Teaching is Goodyear's calling.
Professor Goodyear is absolutely amazing. His lectures are engaging and clear. He gives great feedback on two midterm and final tests and papers. He is hilarious and always keeps the class interesting. Did not get bored once in his classes of 3 hours a week! Take him even if you don't like philosophy. His classes will change your mind.
Professor Goodyear is one of a kind! Honestly one of the best, not to say the best professor at WCC. Very knowledgeable, helpful, caring and funny. Passionate about Philosophy!
He is literally the best teacher i have ever had throughout my entire schooling career. He turns a 3 hour class into a philosophical whirlwind of insight and even the essays are enjoyable
Amazing! I had never taken philosophy in my life and he made it so easy. There is truly no professor like Goodyear. He makes a 3 hour class fly by and also has endless useful and interesting material.
TAKE A CLASS WITH PROFESSOR GOODYEAR! Regardless if you need credit or not, please take a class with him -- He is THE BEST professor I've ever had between Binghamton and WCC. I took online, and he was very responsive, helpful, and very thought-provoking. His class was so much fun and he made it being online very easy to use. I learned a lot in this
Att:Working Students DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS I am taking this class online and it is awful. There is an obnoxious amount of reading. First you have to read the book and answer study questions, logical. Second, you have to read his personal lectures. And lastly, you have to write a 500 word essay every week. Total overload. Forget your other classes
After hearing from others, I did not want to leave WCC without experiencing Professor Goodyear's class. He went above and beyond my expectations, which were already extremely high. One of the essays that we wrote in class helped me overcome a serious issue in my life. He is a caring guy who is super knowledgeable, infinitely grateful.
Professor Goodyear is a really nice guy don't get me wrong, but o m g his teaching skills needs to change. He is all over the place and his notes make no sense because he is all over the place. Also, if you bomb the midterm you need to work your butt off for the final because that is literally all his grades are. 2 tests and 2 papers. Horrible.
Okay well, he is a really nice guy but his teaching skills are not well. We had 2 papers and Midterm and Final... thats it. The lectures are foreverrrr I personally wish he gave us activities or little homework here and there so I can actually know where I stand before the midterm and final.
Had no interest in this class and didn't feel like I would pass. He worked with me when I reached out. He was engaging and I left the class feeling I learned something
Great teacher, really knows and loves philosophy, 100% recommend.
Goodyear is nice & funny. He is very smart and you can tell he just loves philosophy. You can't really fail the class if you read the exam review sheet he gives you and the exams are not difficult. There are 2 papers which are the hardest part of the class and still not that hard. He can give you feedback before actual submission. Recommended!
Excellent professor at WCC. He is extremely knowledgeable and makes the class engaged. Makes you understand the material and prepare for his 2 exams which are multiple choice and filling the blank type of questions. You won't fail the class if you study.
Professor Goodyear is extremely passionate and qualified in the field of philosophy, which is very respectable. His class was not easy, and I definitely had to work for my grade. However, he was consistently helpful when grading and commenting on my work. He wants students to succeed and you can tell when speaking to him.
Absolutely the most interesting class I've ever taken. Learned a lot from both Professor Goodyear and the course material. It was a pretty heavy amount of reading and a few essays. A lot of material is covered but done smoothly and all the topics are so connected that it's easy to keep them in mind. Prof is easy to understand, funny, and very smart
amazing professor i wish all professors are like him
Professor Goodyear is a nice guy, I see he wants his students to be interested and he makes sure to make class fun but, its boring. He is all over the place and explains things were it makes the subject even more confusing. super nice, but he is all over the place, and lectures are confusing, more than they probably need to be. I took Ethics.
Amazing professor. Amazing material. I am biased bc I love the subject but he does a great job explaining things and usually with some humor. One of the bests at WCC. I am now at an ivy university and can attest to the professor's grasp of the material and most importantly, his ability to communicate it to students.
This professor is so amazing, he can be a bit all over the place at times but it's just because he has so many ideas. He has a great sense of humor and he's kind. I took his Philosophy of Love class and we had two papers and two midterms and at the beginning of the semester he posts a guideline for all four assignments.
The professor down to earth.
He is a very insightful professor and a good man. The quality of the lecture strongly relies upon the students participation. My advice? You must be willing to participate in discussion and the time will fly by. His tests are very accessible and his papers guidelines are less strict than typical, but there are very few of them so the grade is key.
Dr. Goodyear is an amazing professor. He is very kind and wants his students to excel. I found the material to be very interesting. It is an easy A. It isn't too much work either; do the readings each week, answer the discussion questions, and take a quiz. I would highly recommend taking one of his classes!
Be ready for lot of reading and writing over the summer semester. Also tests are very hard. Do all the extra work and you will do well. Professor really appreciate his students and try to help at all times!
My absolute favorite professor at WCC. I am biased as I love Philosophy. It is true that Dr. Goodyear can be all over the place during lectures, but only to the untrained ear. If you have a knack for dissecting ideas, enjoy philosophy, and are prepared to examine the taboo, then Dwight Goodyear's class is a perfect fit.
This class defintely tackled some of the topics that you normally couldn't talk in a class. Example: abortion, death with dignity, etc. He went over topics like that every week and taught us how to apply theories. We had to do a midterm, midterm paper, final, final paper, class posts and extra credit which is optional. Prepare to study!
he isnt bad but very hard grader, oh his grading system is very hard to understand i had a B+ next thing i know he said i lost 18 point which killed my grade. please check your grade with him everyday.
There's a lot to read but everything is really interesting, personally. He's a good professor, he takes his time to answer any questions you have. Would definitely take him again. Just stay on top of your work, readings and you'll do fine.
There is a lot of material to review but the professor gives thought provoking material to consider and to challenge the students.
Very nice! His grading consists of doing well on the weekly discussions and his quizzes were straightforward. I do wish this class was available in person to allow the flow of conversations but either ways he is a very good professor!
This class covers various topics, mostly controversial topics. Each week we have to type at least a 500 word response about one of the many topics covered throughout the semester. There is a short quiz every 2 weeks covering the topics discussed in the previous weeks. It's a long class but it is an interesting class that keeps you invested.
Super nice guy, you can tell he cares about his students. If you love philosophy, I recommend taking him.
Literally the best professor i've ever had
I took Ethics over the Winter and it was the best course ever. Dr. Goodyear is a fantastic professor. He gives detailed feedback and wants all of his students to succeed. Would HIGHLY recommend. Best prof!! :)
I took Modern Philosophy, Logic, and Ethics with Goodyear at WCC. He was consistent in all 3 classes. If you read the material, thoughtfully write the few papers assigned, and review a little bit for the midterm and final, an A grade becomes probable. He has a good sense of humor and can think on his feet. Concerning philosophy, he's an expert.
I cannot express this in enough words. I LOVE DWIGHT GOODYEAR. He is the best professor I've had. He gave multiple opportunities to submit assignments, his assignments were fun and made you think. I highly recommend him. He gave great feedback on all of my submissions. This man is a saint!!
Extremely smart prof. Philosophy is not my thing so I struggled to follow class, but the assignments and exams were doable. He goes off on tangents a lot and it can be hard to know what's just his opinion and what's the factual aspects of what he's teaching, but some googling can help you get it, and using his study guides for the midterm and final
Lively lectures, unlikely to fall asleep. He made the content digestible and I could feel his passion for the subject. Do the weekly discussion posts and you'll be fine. He references Breaking bad a lot. For those who enjoy extra reading, he created a website with dissertations about almost every philosophical topics.
Professor Goodyear was always available, gave great feedback, and made sure everyone thoroughly understood the material. His enthusiasm for the subject was very clear, and it was admirable. You really don't find Professors like that anymore! 10/10 experience, highly recommend Professor Goodyear if you need to take an ethics course!!
Professor Goodyear is an excellent professor. I highly recommend taking one of his courses at some point.
I took PHIL160 (Ethics) during the Fall semester online. Professor Goodyear has a very organized BrightSpace page, gives great feedback, and is a VERY fair grader. I would highly recommend this professor for future students looking into taking an ethics course.
Took this online class during winter for credit and it was the class was super easy and not heavy on work at all. Goodyear sends you weekly reports on how youre doing and it helps a lot. Just do the work, take the quizzes at the end of the week and youll be set! Would take again
easiest class i've taken and he's a good teacher. lots of reading though...for the discussions.
I took a 101 philosophy course 15 years ago with Professor Goodyear (I'm currently beginning my second career -- going to law school at Hofstra). I am not surprised that he has such a high score on here because Professor Goodyear is a LEGEND. Take all of his courses. He is a beacon of knowledge and teaches with compassion. Love this guy!!!
Amazing professor and passionate about what he teaches. Made an initially boring topic so interesting to me by the way he teaches it. Not a harsh grader at all and leaves good feedback on papers. We only had 3 papers throughout the whole semester and midterm + final. Other than that no hw. 10/10 would recommend.
Professor Goodyear is amazing! He is so supportive, always available for help, and a very fair grader. It is a lot of reading but very interesting. He does have weekly assignments but they are simple and helpful. The midterm and final covers a lot of material but it is fair. I loved his weekly emails.
