Professor Valentine's ultimate goal is to help the students not only pass the course, but to also learn more about their own educational route. She is extremely helpful and considerate when it comes to providing help. I would recommend this professor highly for those interested in a moderately challenging course.

As a student taking COUSN 20, I thought the assignment were doable , but there is a lot to do in this class.

Professor Valentine is by far one of the most amazing teachers I have had since ive been in college. She is very caring of her students and goes above and beyond what a normal teacher would. She makes sure that you understand the material before she moves on. But heads up be ready to work for your grade. I 100% percent recommend her as a teacher.

She really cares about her students. If there's anything you need don't be afraid to ask she'll do whatever she can to help you or connect you with someone who can. The rate at which she gives homework could be improved as it can sometimes burn you out. I definitely would recommend her class it may not be an easy A but taking the class is worth it.

I love that professor Valentine, has this whole support set up on remind this allows students to not only connect with her but with each other. I think she can improve a little with the set up of canvas it was a little confusing. I would she was not only understanding but really good with giving opportunities to pass .

Professor Valentine is an amazing professor. Yes, she gives a lot of hw, but it pushes you to put yourself out there, find and take advantage of those resources. She's a fantastic speaker, her class is well paced and she's easily accessible through email and text. She doesn't allow late work, but her extra cred can bump you up an entire grade.

This class does come with a lot of work so just be prepared. She makes you work for your grade (which is good). Professor Valentine always tries her best to keep every individual student up to date no matter what. She is more than willing to work with you (even if you feel like there's not a chance). She can be bit harsh sometimes but it adds to her criticism. This class showed me many resources on campus that I wouldn't have been taught in any other class.

She was a very good professor, very helpful and just supporting. She does give out a lot of homework and its always due Thursdays at 5 pm. Aside from that I genuinely enjoyed her class, shes very awake and present in class. She is there to help you whenever you need anything, even with extensions she is very understanding.

If you're taking the online course to be prepared for lots of busywork. It comes with the nature of the course and I imagine many of the assignments would be done in class otherwise. Not a hard class just one you will need to plan ahead for.

Mrs. valentines expects a lot from her students, she always tries her best to make sure you understand the information, she gives a maximum of 100 extra credit points during the semester, and there are a few essays that you have to write. There are a couple projects such as the "Goals Project" and "Visual Me" and participation is very important...

I've never met someone as uplifting and motivating as she is. Her teaching methods give students confidence to push forward. I doubt I will have the honor & privilege to learn under another teacher who has the level of love and passion for their craft like Professor V. The life tools and knowledge you take with you from this class is priceless.

She gives you the opportunity to turn things in early, which is better as she'll grade them and give you feedback so you have a great finished product. This professor expects, for a grade, that all students attend one office hours (which lasts around one hour), but it's helpful. There is a lot of work in my opinion and some things take you by surprise because you realize you needed to see a counselor before. I enjoyed taking this class but it had way too many assignments every week though it was only worth 1 credit. The professor clearly cares for their students and is very kinda and thoughtful. There are just a lot of assignments weekly and they are worth a lot of points as well so it kind of wastes a lot of your time.

Professor Valentine's empathy and other person mindedness comes across greatly through this course. The #1 thing I will take away from this course is perspective. This course taught me a TREMENDOUS amount about note taking! Highly suggest! You have the potential to earn an A, if you follow directions and are thoughtful in your assignments.

Professor Valentine has been such a great help throughout this entire Fall 2020 semester. There are a lot of assignments and, as you near the end, the amount of items due surges. But, if you plan your week well, you will find that this class is manageable. I will say this, this class is as useful as you make it.

One of the best things about this professor is that she is very caring and wants you to succeed as best as you can. She cares about your mental healthy as well. I dont see anyway she can improve as an instructor. I would recommend her class because she wants to know you and help you improve in her class, the only con was that I took it online.

Something I would recommend for the class is a weekly discussion so that the students can get to know each other and get help from each other. Professor Valentine is so sweet and caring. Sets clear expectations from day one in terms of assignments, deadlines, instructions & extra credit offered. Assignments are clear and explained in detail, and give feedback when grading. It was a great course but a bit thorough, but I learned a lot from it.

Good professor Valentine

Professor Valentine is an amazing resource for inspiration and direction. There could be more on counseling clients or employees but thatt's it. Online was super doable and easy. I'd definitely recommend the class. The professor spends alot of time and effort to provide a great experience.

Professor Valentine is an amazing educator who sincerely cares about their students. Every assignment was looked over by them with genuine interest and engagement. To improve, I would like more mandatory class zooms. I took the class online and at times it felt a little bit isolating. I definitely would recommend this class.

She was very kind and would leave kind comments on assignments and even tell you if you don't need to do an assignment and still maintain an A. I would recommend her as she does assign a decent amount of assignments but they are all to help you get organize for college and life even.

Expect to read a bit, but the material is easy to understand. Put in the effort & it's an easy A. It is easy to fall behind if you are not following their clear deadlines.

Professor Dyana Valentine is an amazing and caring teacher. She cares about the respect her students give one another and also makes sure you are doing just enough to pass. She doesn't want you to overwhelm or stress yourself because life already hits us that way. I definitely recommend her. She also gives enough assignments for you to interact.

Assignments are super helpful yet still moderately challenging enough to ensure you have learned something you can actually use in everyday life. Class and assignments are easy and most of the assignments take about 30 mins to complete.

Office hours are really helpful for personal stuff and school related things. They could improve on making online classes more engaging , attendance did drop as the semester progressed. Something I like about Professor Valentine's teaching is her thorough explanations and quick responses. If you are looking for the most effective steps needed to transfer, I would recommend her as a professor. If you are looking for a relaxing class to take over summer, I would not, although it is pretty easy, it is quite tedious.

As a teacher, Professor Valentine was so helpful in answering questions for further clarification in class and she always was super kind to us over zoom. Great Professor! I wouldn't call it an easy A since there is a lot of work, but it is not very challenging. So overall, The class is excellent for understanding how Santa Monica College works and the resources they offer.

Professor Valentine is great because she is super flexible with due dates and gives out a lot of extra credit. She wants you to pass her class. By doing the bare minimum, passing this class with an A is guaranteed. Plus, the things she teaches are great reminders/ lessons to use when I graduate from college. 10/10 recommend her to others.

Professor was always following up with her students. There is nothing to improve as a professor. I recommend taking her class. Professor Valentine was an amazing professor. She is not a tough grader when it comes to the actual stuff you need to do for the assignment, she's a tough grader on the formatting of the assignments. There is enough extra credit in this class to bring your grade up by a whole letter. It was just a really fun experience, even online.

She gives prompt grading and feedback for assignments. She is not available for in-person meetings. Communicating the same thing in different ways - knowing how to do that is an area to improve. I would recommend, its work that will keep you busy. A lot of assignments. Online courses= time to work. I dislike asking about a students budget is risky.

I got this course recommended to me and I'd do the same. Professor Valentine's grades are tough but not unfair. Just make sure you format everything as asked and use the examples shown. There is a couple of reading and watching videos but it's not overwhelming. There is a BUNCH of extra credit opportunities. Tip: just read the syllabus.

Professor Valentine is fantastic. Through this class, I improved significantly in my notetaking, which has always been a struggle for me. I also pursued jobs outside of class and set goals that I have been working on independently. Counseling 20 will challenge you both in and outside of the classroom, and Prof Valentine is always available to help.

I took Counseling 20 as an online student. Prof. Valentine answers any question you have during the course in a timely manner. I would recommend reading the syllabus and completing your assignments ahead of time. All of the assignments have clear instructions, which makes it pretty easy to complete. Assignments are due at 5pm instead of 11:59pm.

They give lots of great advice, E.C., and room on assignments such as an option called "Take A Break" while being very flexible (as long as you talk to them). Professor Valentine is heavily part of the class, they stay behind class to help with their students. I took this class during the winter so the work process was a bit fast paced.There are weekly quizzes from readings and a major exam at the end of the semester. Late work and extra credit is allowed. Turn all the work in and you'll pass the class.

Professor Valentine is caring, and genuine this is rare to see in other teachers. She takes the time to teach and allows herself to be available. There's a lot of material to cover, but very helpful for future classes i.e., English. She's generous and gives 3 take a break assignments w/full points, so that you can skip them, because life happens.
