SOOOO HARD, but a nice guy!
Very good Math teacher

Obviously a very popular prof
Seems like a very smart man...yaahh....yyaahh

The best math prof ... Rye is sooo lucky. (Kinda sexy too, eh?)
Honest teacher who cares. A rare find.
The *best* Calculus professor on earth...AND sooo cute! Hubba!!
Best prof for math!! Should be honoured!
great prof; very clear, no bs
crappy... all mth profs r the same... nothing spl abt him ...
all uni. teachers should be like him...cares about his students...funny & honest
Ok, he drinks a lot of coffee
Very intelligent, caring prof! Incredibly sexy is the right word!
His passion for math shows through his teaching style. His desire is motivation
Amazing teacher, good examples, concise and precise teaching
very caring prof. and smart
Great Prof.!!! Funny, Intelligent, Coffee Addict ...Tricky midterms and exams!!
great prof. yea he's addicted to coffee and smoking, but i learned a lot
Very very helpful prof..very clear and keeps you intrested all the time.
Best Math Prof at Ryerson
very smart, very passionate. and very generous. what to ask more from a teacher&
I'm going into the final with 102%. Ha knows a genius when he marks him
Hard course Killed everyone
Quality teacher; has a passion for it. He over estimates our abilities sometimes
never on time miss classes
Lazy, but got a great mark in his class. . . easy going
No Comments
never on time
He is a genius and lazy prof. Half students last summer dropped his class after midterm. It killed students but I sticked to his class and got A. His teaching is clear but He teaches so fast and jumps sometimes. His exam is harder then the other profs.
if you are not so bright, then don't talk in class because he wants to go through his stuff. smart guy and his english is pretty good for not being from north america. THE BEST MATH PROF AT RYERSON!
All the people that are giving high ratings to this prof for easiness can't be right. He is very tough. His exams are harder than other profs. If you are looking for a high mark, take another prof's class if at all possible!
I loved Calculus because of him. he likes people to share solutions during lectures. he's a very nice guy. I did so good in that course.
only teaches using examples. frequently shows up late clutching crumpled notes (the day's lesson) in one hand, and coffee in the other.
the first midterm's a killer...but he adjusts the grades weighting to compensate.
excellant prof!
great prof! explains very well. great notes.
Great prof!!
Very impressive teaching style, If you take the time to understand everything while he is teaching it to you, guaranteed a good mark. Dont worry if you dont do well on the 1st midterm, he will adjust the subsequent ones. This Guy is always chillin
Great if you are a computer in training!!! If not you are screwed!!!!
good prof. gives 10% bonus. do past tests cuz questions r similar. always last question is hard on the tests. ok teaching. some hate him. his accent is funny but can understand.
WORST MATH PROF AT RYERSON
Does not care about his students.
he's a really helpful teacher, cares about us, he even had a saturday class, imagine he took the time to come and teach us, he s funny too, does many examples that helps the students understand.
He is the best Professor I have ever had
He is a super genious prof in Ryerson. For day class students, his class really helps you to write exam well. His example's in his lecture is harder than day class exams but that makes you strong enough to all exams.
hard prof
a very good prof. that is willing to help you out anytime. he is easy to follow and most of his questions do come from his notes except maybe a few tricky ones.. but that is not to say that the questions are impossible to answer just needs some thought.
good prof.
Took time to teach a Saturday review class before math proficiency test. Serious when it comes to work, but will crack the odd joke. Tough but good.
the greatest prof at ryerson, really clear on what he's doing, helpful, and knows the stuff from top of his head, really smart proff, he s funny too. listen to him and focus on the examples given on the lectures = really helpful, keep it up Dr.Ha u'r the BEST. i wished i had him on all my classes.
great course. smartest professor i had. knows everything. never unsure about the material. TOO GOOD
never brings in notes but knows his stuff too well
knows his stuff, presents material in a more understandable manner, good sense of humor, one of the better profs
made me fall in love with math....awsome prof. understands the matterial, give every student the attention needed.don't go to your assigned section, go to his...
Really smart guy. The subject is hard but he makes it as easy as possible. Most important is to keep up with the home work and come to classes.
Man, HE IS SMART> Change to his section as he is the best there is in MATH> PROPS<
The professor is good. his lectures are good. BUT he brought in the WORST TA EVER,the TA is terrible and he does not know English and screws people in the midterms!!!!!
made my life more easy
Worst math prof ever!
Best prof @ ryerson. If your taking this course, get in his section. Will make course material very easy to learn.
GOOD PROFESSOR. VERY EASY.
Excellent prof, makes the stuff interesting & simple. Although he has a hilarious accent he is still very clear. I just wish all those idiots who can't shut up did so he wouldn't have to stop at least 2 times per lecture to say "the focus in this class is not there". Excellent prof.
ask him why anything to the power of 0 is one. GENIUS!
Very clear , fast and intelligent style of teaching. I hope most of pros are like hime!
OK teaching. killer tests. horrible ta. go figure
Probably the best prof at Ryerson.Knowledgeable, funny, witty, interesting, helpful. i didn't know squat about algebra before, he Ha makes the class enjoyable and explains everything fully or until everyone understands. trully and asset to the ryerson teaching community.
I LOVE HE SAY COME ON PPL BEST TEACHER EVER
The best teacher I've ever had.
It's been said below but the man is a genius, not only in terms of mathematics, but his teaching skills are phenomenal. And definitely attractive in that oozing of brilliance kind of way. He is not easy, but fair. His notes that he manages to write out off the top of his head make the textbook look bad. This man needs write more textbooks.
Professor Ha is by far the most fair, intelligent (more so genius), and good humored professor I know. His lectures are clear and precise, each topic builds up to the next. His Midterms are brutal, but they inevitably push you to use what he has taught you, not just memorize it, this is knowledge you'll keep.
One of my fav. profs at ryerson. He's interesting to listen to, knows his stuff, and speaks clearly. What else could you want?
OMG...17...this guy is a genius, would walk into class with a coffee and his whiteboard marker and teach...will never forget.......Smart Ass Student: "Uh, professor, when are we gonna use this in real life?"..............DR HA: "I don't teach real-life, i teach math."...genius
Excellent professor. He can explain most concepts in many different ways so if a person doesn't understand one way, he tries another. He is willing to help any student. His love for the subject matter is obvious and comes through in his teaching. This makes him an engaging lecturer.
He's the best prof. I've ever had. He does his job excellent and can explain the stuff very good. He's examples in calss are very usefull and you don't need a text book if you read your notes.
This guy is jokes lol of all the profs I had thus far, he is the only prof who is very laid back, very relaxed. He knows his stuff really well and presents them to his students well. GO HA!
what can i say about my man Ha. first when impression when i saw him camoing to our first class... OMG another asian man who struggles to speak. BIG BIG mistake he is the man, honestly guys i never ever had a math teacher who was clearer and at the same time interesting when teaching. i attended 100% with him even some courses that i didn't have hi
Da Best of DA Best for MATH courses i wish i still had him but he teaches mostly 1st year courses i guess or pure math. Jus go to class sit back n relax den read ur notes n u good. Jus call him da BOSS OF MATHEMATICS.
he is really good
Outstanding...
The BEST professor!!! I smoked cigarettes with him before each lecture, extremely helpful and genius by nature.
This guy is a genius! He comes into the room, carrying nothing but coffee, and teaches a whole chapter with no notes or whatsoever. He can be funny too. The course seems so easy with him. I hope I have him again.
He is good but not the best.
he is out to get us.
This prof is for people who want to learn something not for some loosers (refer to the below comment) who doesn't understand Mathematics, well i have bad news for you buddy maybe this isn't for you, the get out of engineering or whatever you are enrolled and start a career in fashion. Dr.Ha is both helpful and easy to get, do your well that's it.
WOW!!! this prof is amazing .. he is hilarious and he mixes math with comedy. .makes sense. .u learn and u laugh!! wat more do u need!! da guy is awesome. .gr8 prof really. . i miss his lectures
HA!HA! Math is not a comedy....killer tests HA!HA! Don't start a career in fashion, take course with another professor
Ridiculous amount of knowledge. Doesn't even use the textbook and derives everything from memory. As a result, the textbook was a complete waste of cash. Helpful when asking questions. Don't take his course in summer session - ridiculous amount of material, and his exams are insanely difficult. Great for learning.
Awsome prof.
Great Prof!He always dont know what's he talking abt after break, coz he smokes too much! ha!
Amazing teacher....if you actually wanna learn material...i recommend his class...he actualy noes wha he is teaching unlike other profs...
AWESOME
took his class in 07' and got a D- not because he was a bad prof. he knows his stuff really well and moves along the course quite fast just like prof. kim. if u ever get a chance, ask him why everything to the power of 0 is always 1.
i took his class in '07, in my first year of engineering, and the only thing i can say is he makes math less horrible lol best teacher ever! just brilliant.
Dr.Ha is the man! He is a perfect example of a good prof because he knows the content inside out. I would give him A+ but his tests are way too hard! Funny guy at times though, improvises examples too which are genious. If you know he is writing the test/final, make sure you study twice as hard. The reason his name's Ha is because he has last laugh
He is a good professor, knows his stuff, explains it well and responds to the questions. He makes sure that the concept he is exlaining is well understood by the students and gives examples in the end.Although he is a little bit behind from other professors but the doesn't matters to most of the students including me.
I have to say that Dr. Ha is a smart, intelligent, genius, funny... prof. He is just good at what he is doing.
Dr. Ha has been in the math world for about 2 decades and has several awards. His knowledge of maths is probably second to none and his explanation of the material is practically flawless. As with all other university course, CONCEPT is extremely important. Keep a close eye on the course outline as he teaches off the top of his head.
amazingg prof!....
AMAZZZIINNG PROF
This Professor really knows his stuff, he brings no notes and can derive any equation. Great for help and usually writes the department tests. Also has a fun sense of humor
Very helpful prof. make sure u go to his class. He makes sure u understand the topic. He knows his stuff (*** doesn't just read off the power point slides). Overall best prof I had.
Awesome prof. Hes a nice teacher and is very intriguing to listen to. If you see his name in one of your courses and you come to class and take his notes, congratz on the 80.
Prof. Ha is one of the helpful professor there can be.
One of the best proffesors of Ryerson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This prof is awesome. I took linear algebra at another university and failed, then I took it here over the summer: A+. The class was actually fun. Guy is a genius. The only time he isn't pulling the information from his head is when he's finding the parts in the book for us to consult at home. Order of teaching is much better than other university.
Amazing prof and genuinely nice person. His tests are hard but he prepares you for them. Quite possibly the best mathematician I've ever met, regardless of university.
He right really quickly! He gives really awesome examples. Look for his catch phrases like "Okay people?"
He was the best teacher I've ever had and I wasn't even in his section! If you have a chance take him as a prof for ANY math class!
Very good professor. Makes sure class is not boring.
Amazing Proff, says "ok people" all the time. hilarious, and uses examples on the midterms just before the midterms. Hes crystal clear.
Hard course, very helpful and smart professor.
Pretty good teacher, had him for both MTH141 and 140, and he was pretty good. He did useful examples, and was fairly clear. Many of my friends from other classes came to my lectures, and told me my prof was better. Recommended.
This professor asks questions to the class and engages with us. I like when he asks conceptual questions because he gets me to think about the material in a deeper way than I would have from a few examples. I was so impressed with his teaching style that I attended both MTH140, and MTH141 with him!
He does so many different examples that cover the majority of questions you can encounter in that unit/section. He his unbelievable at explaining and so chill and relaxed while teaching. Overall he is an amazing teacher. Hoping to get him again in the future
He is a great teacher, it's just that I'm not into Linear Algebra (The course he taught me). But he does excellent reviews before tests that are simply priceless if you want to ace them. Do attend his lectures to take notes because they could be helpful at times. I used the textbook a lot because as I said and tutorials are GREAT if you want an A+.
Awesome.... noone can explain better than this dude
He is the greatest teacher all time. His voice is so loud that he does not even need a microphone! He is also extremely funny. One thing though, as long as you don't ask stupid questions otherwise you will get insulted as hell ROFL!
THE BEST PROF AT RYERSON! Just amazingg!Very funny.Examples are great, attend his class because he doesn't post notes online. By far THE best math teacher i have ever had. Dr.Ha is the BEST! His catch phrase "honkayyy?"(okay?)
calc...my favorite class...HOOOKAY?? Probably the only class I enjoyed going to and despite what you'd first think, his accent actually keeps things interesting and at times hilarious, good prof, GET IN HIS CLASS!!
Go to class, take notes, then you'll be fine.
best prof ever!!! love him. go to class and you'll be fine :)
amazing. so smart. attend his lectures. he will give you examples similar to the questions asked on tests/exam. be sure to look over notes and UNDERSTAND them. he is the best!
Hes the best calc prof Ive had so far. He wasnt really my prof but i sat in his class. he creates really really hard examples and makes em seem easy. his examples WILL make you understand and when you do your good for the exam. read his examples before the exam and an A is guaranteed
Dr. Ha is the GOD OF MATH. GO to his class learn the material study and practice it at home and you are guaranteed A+. I am not sure on his helpfullness but if you care and convince him he will surely care as well. I did first year at ryerson and I had him then I transferred to Waterloo for Engineering.
Amazing Prof! After his explanations the difficult topics look absolutely easy. Attend his lectures and you will not have problems with this course!
Everyone that took 140 says he's amazing, I took MTH310(calculus 2) with him and he's such a hard teacher. While teaching some things didnt make sense and he didnt explain them, the midterm was impossible, after studying 15 hours for it i could only solve 1-2 questions (partly right) the rest I just left blank because I ran out of time.
This prof is a gift from God!!! Seriously, get into his class. I ended with a B (which is amazing for Calc I). I loved him. He is a genius and a great teacher. You really need to pay attention and keep up and do your homework. If you can, you'll do great.
Maybe he's an easy marker for 140, for 310 (calculus 2) he was impossible. More than 60% of the students dropped the class after the midterm. I studied about 12-16 hours (which is more than class time we had prior to midterm) and I couldn't even solve half of the exam.
He is a great Professor, Go to his class, take notes and understand the material to save time at home, go home and do the assigned problems and you will get a 3.0 +
Yes he is really good. However he is not perfect. Be aware that he ALWAYS falls so skips things to finish in time. Sometimes he forgets about to teach some material so he makes you read it. Covers what he thinks is important, and expects you to have all basic knowledge ready because he likes to take short cuts to make material simpler.
An awesome prof. He's very clear with his material, and a rather funny person as well. He does a lot of examples in class, and explains them thoroughly. Basically, he is an amazing prof.
MTH525 (Analysis) was by far the hardest math course I've ever taken, and I'm sure most people in the math program would agree. There are no generous marks given by this professor. However, the course is by no means impossible, as many seem to believe. Work hard and you will be fine. Dr. Ha is a very nice guy, and quite helpful in office hours.
HE IS A BEAST, UHHKAYYY?? GO TO HIS LECTURES AND PAY ATTENTION AND EVERYTHING WILL BE CRYSTAL CLEAR, ALSO LOOK AT HIS EXAMPLES FOR TESTS! AWESOME PROFF!
Overrated
I took MTH 140 with him! and I passed with A. he is a good prof .
The man is a boss, full of swagger and sass, not to mention the brains to back it up. Ive had him for 140, 141 and 240. He uses no notes in class, his lectures are created on the fly, including example problems. Take what he says seriously, especially those not necessarily math related.
This prof is great. He does tend to fall behind, but that's because he's so thorough (In a good way.) He'll go over each type of function when doing an example (trig, exponential, etc). However: If there's a topic on the test that he didn't do in class either make sure you read it or go to office hours. All in all this guy's amazing, take his class
Dr. Ha is a very hard professor. This course in Real Analysis is the hardest course that you can take, even for the smarty pants! He really knows his stuff but he makes it harder than what it looks. The assignments and test are taken to another level, no matter what you learnt in class.
Hardest prof ever! He complicates the material more than it already is. He is the kind of prof who would solve questions like "Johh had 2 apples and he ate 1, how many does he have left?" in class and on the test and assignments he would ask "John had 2 apples, he ate 1, What is the circumference of the sun?" AVOID THIS PROFESSOR! HORRIBLE!!!
teaches from right on the spot whatever he is thinking about, no guidelines, unorganized. no upload notes, hard to read handwriting on white board to copy. hard midterm 4 questions. midterm avg was a 55%. ridiculously hard final exam. got 80% on midterm still failed his final and failed the course. this prof is hard if you are not smart. good luck
Dr. Ha is the best prof. If you listen carefully to the things he mentions in class, you will be set for the A's. Be sure to take notes and treat them as your holy book, because without them your nothing. He is a really chill professor and likes to have conversations with his students. Extremely intelligent. You will love him.
Most of the class dropped or did really bad that semester from what I gathered. I still went even after dropping.
Alright here's the thing. The people who dropped and 'studied' 15 hours or whatever didn't do jack the rest of the semester. Go to lectures, do the homework. Ask questions for questions you don't get. He's an amazing prof but YOU have to do work, don't expect to coast w/o homework like Calc I. You have to go in knowing you need to work hard.
Best Calc prof, teaches to the point, disadvantage: rarely ever comes on time, posts marks up very late
Dr. Ha is an amazing professor. Go to his classes and pay attention. He is very very helpful. Make sure you get to know him! And Just do the homework. you'll be fine for this course if you have him! GOOD LUCK! AND IF YOU HAVE HIM, DON'T CHANGE!
Awesome professor. He was constantly asking us if the pace was okay and if we were understanding everything alright. He is extremely knowledgeable about the subject and is happy to answer questions. Need to do the homework to get a good grade and attending lecture is a must as notes are not posted online. His examples are very helpful
This man is a boss at teaching Calculus. He CARES about the students and is constantly asking the class if the lecture is okay and if they understand.
Dr. Ha is fiercely intelligent and a great teacher. He explains the intuition behind what you're learning so you can really learn something instead of memorize it. Most importantly, he WILL help you if you come to him with questions and he will want you to do well if YOU want to do well. Come to his classes!
Helpful, good lectures, funny. That's all you really need to know. However, his writing is like chicken scratch so ask what something is if you don't know.
Very funny and informative professor. Go to his classes since his notes are really good but he doesn't use slides. Always had good stories to tell but was still able to get everything done. Tests were tough but do the work and you'll be fine. Textbook helps for this class.
He is really bad !!
Very difficult prof, doesn't give any easy marks, and the course material is already so tough. But a good grade certainly isn't impossible. You learn so much in this class, more than in any other, and if you get through it you'll be a much, much stronger student
Would take again, because I have to ... If you are in his lectures, just drop out of your program, and switch to RTA.
Very straight forward prof. Does not waste your time and covers all crucial topics. His exams are very tough, so ensure you really understand the concepts and try and get ahold of a practice exam. He is horrible at emailing you back so if you need to speak to him just visit him in class.
An excellent teacher but the midterm killed us all and when we got back our very low average he was hesitant on bellcurving the mark and literally suggested to everyone to just drop the course. I worked extremely hard to pass and made it through the final, which wasn't so much difficult this time so long that you understand the concepts.
He loves math for sure, but there are different areas of math and he doesn't seem to respect that. He is nice in class, but very rude when you approach him individually. He is funny and humorous in sort of way where he is being sarcastic. He will definitely bring your self esteem down. Make sure you talk to him with others around.
He's a math genius, but really needs to get organized.. He doesn't use the online portal and contacts everyone through email. He's generally unclear through lectures (bad writing) and solutions. Also, expect very hard tests so make sure you understand his review questions. Do NOT only practice with the book, trust me. If you want a good grade,WORK!
Even though he will not give you the mark you want or even deserve, you cannot dislike him. He loves what he does, and he just wants to share his passion. However, work very hard and you will be rewarded (slightly). Best math professor I ever had.
Dzung Minh Ha is a genius prof.
He is a amazing lecturer and a genius professor, learn the textbook inside out and do the practise questions. Visit him in his office hours for help if needed he is a very nice god.
Dzung Ha is a great professor and is extremely helpful if you seek it in his office hours. He is very intelligent and has an extreme passion for mathematics. Overall probably the best Calc prof you will ever have. If your just looking for a good grade and arent trying to retain anything you learn or learn it in depth, then you should drop his class
An overall amazing professor, best I've ever had. The student must put in the work to achieve a good mark. 100% would want him again and recommend anyone to take his class
Dr. Ha knows his materials well, and teaches it very clearly. The recommended text book is also very helpful. The course is proof based, and the tests aren't easy. But if you pay attention in class they are not so bad. Did not do much homework but passed OK. However if you do not have a good foundation coming in, you have to be very careful.
Great prof one of the best teachers ive ever had
Really good prof. He is straight to the point. I strongly suggest going to classes because the notes in class are very helpful and he does not post his lectures online. The second midterm and final exam were tough so study hard. His teaching is based more on understanding and applying concepts rather than just memorizing.
Fast, but very constant tempo of teaching. Good pacing, requires that you keep up and pay attention. If you zone out during class, prepare to suffer for it. Very conceptual style of teaching. Makes sure you understand the underlying principle behind everything he teaches. One of the best teachers I've ever had. Tests were difficult.
Dr. Ha teaches very well and very clearly, however, he marks unbelievably harshly on the assignments, which are already pretty difficult to begin with. His exams are also not easy at all, however, he is sometimes willing to bell curve. All in all, torture for those who have to take it, definite no if you're thinking of taking this as an elective.
HARDEST COURSE I HAVE EVER HAD. i have never studied so much for one course and have my grades not reflect my effort. the concepts are understandable but applying what you know is the hardest. i spent hours on end for the assignments but i would still fail/close to fail. SO AVOID THIS COURSE. the prof makes it harder than it already is
Okay prof. His midterms and tests are brutal because he strongly focuses on the theory behind the questions and no that much on the steps to solve the problems. You will need to study hard! I suggest going to his office hours for extra help. He is also flexible if you need to see him outside his office hours.
The best proffesor I met ! He explains everything very claer and willing to HELP. Inspired my passion for mathematics.
Pay attention in class and take notes and it'll be easy marks. Teaches the important concepts and skips a lot of the tedious stuff.
Dr. Ha gave the class a guaranteed 5% bonus with a potential 2.5% bonus from the online assignments, and even told us the type of long answer questions for the final. He knows he's a tough instructor. He really knows what he's talking about and wants the class to understand everything CONCEPTUALLY. His examples are the key to success in this class.
Overall a solid professor. If you study well for the exam, you should be fine. He does put emphasis on conceptual questions, however most of the questions on the Final and Midterm were fair. He is a tough, but good professor.
Teaches very well and helps you understand the underlying principles behind what you're learning. Questions are based on understanding and applying concepts instead of computational questions or memorizing. Difficult but fair. One of the best professors I ever had.
He is very nice and approachable.
Really knows what he's teaching, He has a really good but dry sense of humor, It's math so you can't get away without studying
Dr. Ha is a very brilliant professor. You will always leave the lecture with more knowledge because he can teach the material so well. You will have to work for your mark and it is ADVISED to go to his office hours because he will see you are trying and help you out. Exams and quizzes are fair as long as you review the notes and do the homework.
tough grader, don't skip class b/c amazing and useful lectures, inspirational, caring, gives extra credit even at the beginning of the semester (we all started with 5% already), gives great advice, fair tests, know what he wants so you can do well, get ready to read, good knowledge that the doesn't need his notes, plays guitar, has a good son too
He is great , fair, teach easy understand
The best proffesor I met ! Great Pro :)
Great Prof!!!!!!!!
don't recommend, doesn't explain steps at all. Had to learn the entire course myself. Hard marker and as an A student in every course first sem and second sem, This was my only non A mark. Had A in MTH131 but finished with a C in MTH 231 because of him. Definitely will not have him ever again.
This guy is literally the worst!!!! Don't take his course if you value your time on this planet.
Not a bad guy, but absolutely brutal tests and heavy on theory. If you want to get a math degree or spend alot of extra time on calculus by all means take this class, otherwise avoid it and take the class with someone else who understands students have a life outside of their class.
He doesn't upload notes and wont reply to emails about remarks. Doesn't care about student's success.
Hes a great prof, who emphasizes understanding of the concept and teaches with many in class examples. Attend class and do the practice questions and theirs absolutely nothing to worry about.
A unique professor in that he tests on understanding - you may see unfamiliar questions on the test that you can only answer if you truly understand the material. Do as many practice problems as possible, this course was on another level in terms of the work I put in.
THE WORST PROF EVER. JUST STAY AWAY FROM HIM. He has no empathy and does not care about students success. What a waste of money, time, energy, and effort.
He is the worst professor ever. He is rude, sarcastic, and does not care about student's success. Do not waste your time with this guy.
unfair marker and he is so lazy.
Doctor Ha is very Gentle and an outstanding professor. He is very inspirational and make you understand the concept. Test preparation is consist of doing textbook practices. Overall great teacher and mentor.
Not a good professor and person. He is not nice nor helpful.
The big cheese, he makes you work for your money, as a person he is great to talk to, he's got grit. Me failing any of his classes and him not being great prof would be mutually exclusive events; take him for a humbling experience. I worked for that mark. you will respect him, and the earned mark will have you respecting yourself.
Very arrogant, doesn't reply to emails, marks hard, and test are very hard. Stay away at all costs!!!
Exams and assignments are ridiculously difficult.
Unfair marker and condescending. Avoid at all costs, this man is infamous around campus.
Great Professor. Ha was really understanding during the whole online school stuff due to COVID and was really reasonable with our assessments. Gave us 12 hours to do quizzes, 24 hrs to do our midterms and 48 hours to do our exam. Felt like you had to actually work for the mark due to the enormous time limit. Lots of philosophy and jokes in lectures
his quizzes and tests have questions that require you to think more than what you find in the textbook since he writes the questions himself to prevent cheating online, and the only way to study for it is to attend his lectures to understand it. The notes he uploads are too hard to read. But he did give us 24 hours for quizzes and 2 days for final
Ha is caring and genuinely wants you to succeed. His online lectures are very disorganized. He hates reading off of notes while teaching, but I wish he did because his lectures would be more organized and structured. Test questions are not easy and are mostly designed to make you think. He does give 24 hours for the test and 53 hours for the final.
Ha is a nice guy, but not the greatest prof. While teaching, he makes up numbers and questions on the spot and sometimes they don't work out. Tests aren't easy either, questions aren't straightforward and are designed to make you think. A lot of MC Qs, which can pull your grade down. I'm retaking with Alqasas who apparently is a much better prof.
Just run. Run far far away.
Overall not bad material, presented fairly well. Dont believe when the mark will be bumped up at the end of the course. I was short 1% for next gpa level. Tough grader along with the TA. GL since it is required course. Gpa killer course if you can drop it do so otherwise, no chance to get back if do badly on 1-2 assignments or mediocre midterm.
Professor Ha was one of my favourite professors in my first semester at Ryerson. If you are interested in a deeper understanding of the concepts and enjoy solving problems which you have never seen before, you will enjoy this professor. If you only care about plug and solve, and easy solutions without analytical thinking, you won't enjoy him.
Ha is probably the best prof I've ever had so far. His lectures are amazing and more conceptual than just plug in the numbers mechanically. His tests and exam are not really hard but you have to actually understand the concept to be able to do. If you study, it's an easy A.
Ha is the best, he's knowledgeable, the lectures are amazing. Very lenient in terms of time for test. However, you need to work for your grades.
Hes not a bad prof, I just find his lectures lack structure. Others really liked him but personally he isnt organized enough for me. Although, hes very generous with time allowed for midterms and overall a pretty chill guy.
Was a pretty good prof here, understood our needs. He recorded lectures, uploaded notes, extended deadlines and all in all, cared for students. He was however a bit disorganized as he wasn't the course coordinator. He also loves ranting about the education system and that includes the textbook the other professor makes. Overall, great guy.
No book to follow for the course itself. We followed a reference book, but most of the questions were pulled from a magic hat. Assigned practice questions but stopped after midterms were done. It's better to teach yourself the course. He does easy examples during lectures and gives us challenging problems. Tutorials were beneficial.
Hilarious lectures and great vibes. Accent can be a bit tough but you'll get use to it. No strict lesson plans, but he tries to go as in-depth as possible. Attend in person classes because his notes are basically illegible (not due to handwriting but because half the explanation is in his speaking) - take detailed notes and use the textbook
I had 40+ profs & one could be like him giving me the extra push to move, to challenge my intellectuality. He teaches mathematical thinking & analysis rather than B & W practical computational maths. Get ready for a bit of rant but it worth it if you are a maths fan. He comes on time and lectures for entire 3 or 4 hours without and short changing.
Love this guy, absolute legend
If you take one of his classes, it'll probably be the least boring math class you'll ever have.took calc for the first time with him with no previous experience and had a hard time understanding the lectures until i went home and studied the textbook in depth. very conceptual and interesting but may be confusing for someone who isn't great at math
Before this class, I loved math and enjoyed calculus in high school. But the way this man taught it, made no sense. He overcomplicated every single concept and even thought he uploaded his class notes, the course was very disorganized.
The first two assessments were online while the final was in-person. The multiple choice are always the most challenging while the short answer questions are effortless. The prof provides an additional 5% to all who do all three assessments. Overall great professor.
His tests were about the same difficulty as what was taught in lecture and labs. However, midterms were online giving free 60% of total grades. Go over difficult examples taught in lectures and labs and it should be easy to excel in this class.
He knows how to teach but he's pretty unorganized. Make sure to attend all of his lectures as his notes are impossible to understand without context. He likes to explain things conceptually which is a double edged sword. The midterms were pretty difficult, especially the final. Overall, good professor for learning but not for your GPA.
what's wrong with ha? people say his accent is worse than lan, but I can understand him. Don't know why. And the quizzes were not too bad, as long as you understand material well, and read the questions carefully
He is an amazing prof, He can actually teach and I never had a day I went out of his class without being impressed. Attend all his lectures or you'll fail! His course is very conceptual and if you do not understand anything you'll fail. His midterms and exams are top tier difficulty but you come out this class with lots of knowledge. Overall W prof
He was the course coordinator for my course. I attended one of his lectures, cause my prof was sick. He really loves making his exams hard. Other profs and grad students have stated he has a very hard reputation to keep in the department.
"blablalba okay?" "blblablaba OKAY?" "blablalba okay?" "blblablaba OKAY?" "blablalba okay?" "blblablaba OKAY?" "blablalba okay?" "blblablaba OKAY?" "blablalba okay?" "blblablaba OKAY?" "blablalba okay?" "blblablaba OKAY?" "blablalba okay?" "blblablaba OKAY?" "blablalba okay?" "blblablaba OKAY?" "blablalba okay?" "blblablaba OKAY?" stfu
quizzes are too hard. Terrible lectures
Unorganized, terrible textbook, doesn't reply to emails. I don't know what to expect on evaluations, there is no review or practice test like other courses on top of his poor teaching
I am gonna miss Dr.Ha so badly. He is an actual goat. I took all my math courses with him. His teaching method is perfect. He solves loaaaads of examples in the class, and he would be more than happy to answer the questions. I wish I could take more courses with him. The exams are fair. At the end of the day it is uni math ! Should not be so easy.
He is a bad professor because he fails everybody on the midterms and you better study hard to pass the finals. He is very hard on the grading and is stressful because it's a mandatory course. He speaks in the lecture in a very low voice and he keeps saying okay at the end of his sentences. Would never take a course with him again.
Dr. Ha is extremely knowledgeable, however his lack of organization and tendency to go on tangents makes it difficult to stay focused in class. Luckily this class was taught by 2 other professors, so I attended another profs lectures. He adds trick questions to the midterm and final. Don't recommend him for MTH108.
He could make his lecture enjoyable. Sometimes he made some jokes and tell stories, which eventually made us behind the schedule, especially that sometimes he could be late to the class. Very hard to reach outside the class; never replied any emails. Nevertheless, he always posted his notes that were written on his device but never on time.
Comments about 12-hour tests/exams are outdated (1.5h). Posted notes are illegible. A lot of the midterm questions were not formatted the same in lectures, or not in lectures (new questions with no real examples). He talks in a way that sounds exasperated all the time. Zoom lectures are messy and unhinged, man does not understand Zoom settings
he's funny as hell when he's teaching and will go on tangents to poke fun at students or give mini, inspirational life lessons halfway through the lectures. his notes however, are not super legible and students call out to him a lot asking him to specify what he's written. very hard marker, exams are all concept-heavy so get extra help when you can
He goes over many examples during class. He tends to get distracted easily. He picks on people near the front to answer questions. His tests are very concept heavy making it difficult (makes it hard on purpose). His lecture notes are very messy. Said he will give us a 10% bonus for attending the exams and quizzes.
Tests are too hard for no reason
Don't be fooled by all these high ratings, he may have used to been a good professor back than, but now he is simply not it in my opinion. If you want to pass this class, your going to really need to make sure you pay attention in class. His marking scheme is just foul. The only reason I was able to get 1.67 was because I was redoing this class.
Quite disorganized. He didn't show up for 2 classes (without notice), which he made up with Zoom classes two weekends before the final. Otherwise, he's a good prof who drills the concepts into your head with multiple examples. Quiz, midterm, and final q's were similar to in-class examples and the labs. Sometimes he gave extra practice q's as well.
Great lectures, explains concepts well. Gives interesting questions(both in class and labs) which are not always available in textbooks.
The worst math prof I've had by far. lectures are very disorganized and don't follow textbook. He uses the board in the very front of the class so unless your sitting courtside, its very hard to follow along. His writing is even messy, almost impossible to read. Exams are hard and unlike course materials taught although cheat sheets are allowed.
I would highly recommend dropping the course if you have him as your instructor he has a thick accent, does not explain well and does not explain the course outline well
One word to describe him would be "GOAT". This man cares about his students and if you attend his lectures and take notes you'll do just fine.
Because of the course material itself, lin alg requires you to actually go to the lecture, using the textbook to learn catch up is unnecessarily difficult. Just attend the lectures, pay attention and, you can easily get a 70 without doing homework everyday. Plus he explains the topics on a conceptual level unlike the textbook he recommends.
Don't be fooled by all these high ratings, maybe he was a good prof back than, but now he is just average in my opinion. If you want to pass this class, make sure you pay attention in class and make notes. If this is your first time taking this class, I'd recommend avoiding him. He usually gives hard mc but easy long answer for his exams.
Professor Ha is hit or miss - his lectures can be engaging but get distracted easily. While the material is challenging, using resources like the free textbook and unstuckstudy ai can help you succeed. Attend class, take notes, and you have a shot at a decent grade.
The first one or two classes made me feel somewhat off about professor Ha, but for some reason after those two I completely changed my mind. He's a great prof that intuitively knows what he's teaching. He does a good balance of explaining/introducing concepts and showing proofs/examples for general equations and questions.
MTH640 is hard. ZERO way around it. Dr Ha does a wonderful job of giving great lectures, the man knows his content well. If you want to do well, talk to him. Talk to the TA. He'll always give you what you need to do well, it's on you to choose how you want to succeed. Super witty with his wisdom. Get ready to take notes, though.
Dr. Ha has difficult exams, but I find myself always choosing him to be my math professor because he teaches more than mathematics. He teaches you to think, be aware, and to put together pieces of information to develop a solution. I get lower grades in his class though, but it's worth the trade-off for the priceless knowledge you obtain.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Professor rarely responds to emails, can't teach, and is so disorganized. Class was 2 midterms and a final. No date for the midterms on the course outline he just randomly chose one as the sem went on. Difficult course in general and he makes it million times harder. I had him before and didnt like him then, dont like him now.
I've had Ha for TWO STRAIGHT SEMESTERS. His tests are aids and literally half the people dropped after the midterm. Squid game irl.
A bit disorganized but an actual chad of a prof, TA was amazing this semester, labs were good, evaluations were really difficult though, expected of the hardest math class in the program. Take lecture notes and do the labs. You'll need them.
This is the worst prof at TMU, DO NOT RECCOMEND TAKING HIM. If he is the course coordinator for your class, just drop it and take chang instead of getting destroyed on his tests. 80-90% of his multiple choice are questions you have never seen before from textbook or lectures. The second midterm was so hard that the TA's even admitted it.
Good teacher with entertaining and informative lectures. However, his tests and exams are known to be difficult.
Great at teaching but has extremely difficult midterms and exams.
This course is tough as heck, but I actually felt like I learned something out of it lol, math isnt for the faint of heart 💀💀💀💀
Makes lots of mistakes, is sometimes late to class, and gives a 2.5 hour class with no break. Multiple choice on exams is generally difficult (and you might make some arithmetic errors), but the short answer is usually easier (for the most part)
straightforward professor that gets to the point. explains concepts well and gives good clear understanding about topics, solves questions in real time allowing students to understand the process and how to actually do the problem. his notes are good and simple.
WORST PROF AT TMU
Horrible prof
Professor is not fair. Only grades by a midterm and final exam. His midterm was nothing like his labs, lectures and practice questions. I'd rather take Toronov over this prof.
Only take a course with this him if you are a math major or the next Einstein. Otherwise, prepare yourself to get absolutely destroyed to the point where you reconsider your life choices.
45% midterm, 55% exam
55% 45% what ever you do better on is weighted the most
Horrible prof. Worst grading scheme don't recommend him at all AVOID AT ALLLLL MATTERS
Overall, after reading all the reviews, I believe he has fallen off. Grading outline is not good. And thick accent which makes hard to understand. I would choice a different prof other than him if possible. For MTH141 he thinks we - are math students and Es mature equations mid exam. Questions exam are never seen before questions. 100% harder
He try's very hard to teach but overall he really can't. He has all of knowledge but his accent is really stop him and his way of teaching style. I believe everyone would prefer a better professor but it is what it is. Tmu setting all of us for failure. As an international student, listening to everyone's reviews from first Sem Lin nothing the same
What is this guy doing in his lectures
exams in a week. and hasnt posted the outline yet. rlly hard to get the prof to reply to emails.
I would avoid this prof at all costs.
I wouldn't pray for my worst enemies to have this prof. Bro the material covered in class did not show up. But thank u for the guy allowing a 2 page cheat sheet and a calculator. But personally I would not take this prof ever again. I studied for this exam by doing lab questions and lectures questions. No help. Hoping to see a curve….
Got this guy for linear algebra. Heavy accent, god awful handwriting, none of the content in class was on the final, heavily multiple choice based, provided no prev exams or even proper practice questions, and the entire grade is based off of only midterm and final, exam info late, had little to no info. Worst math prof, looking for that curve.
Genuine worst prof Ive ever had, if your taking lin and hes the only prof available, take the class next semester
Awful prof doesn't reply to students emails
Hard to understand accent. Really only was marked by 2 things. Midterm and final exam none of the questions were from the lectures/labs. I attended all lectures and it did not help. But I really request the FYEO to look into this prof and why is he doing this to us.
He is THE worst prof I had in uni so far. Horrible handwriting and teaching skills. Dont even get me started on his tests and exams. Despite giving curves, he still makes his finals so difficult. He gives us a cheat sheet but makes the questions like nothing he's ever taught. Something needs to be done, let him go on vacation for 4 years or fired.
THE WORST. This Prof. I mean it, his accent, his hand writing...I won't continue this rant. Just avoid this guy if he's the only Prof available.
Not the worst professor in the world, but he's so angry at his students. His accent is hard to understand and so is his handwriting but he gets mad at any and every question or request. At least he usually acquiesces after complaining about it. Doesn't own up when he makes mistakes though, and he makes them often.
When taking MTH141 for the second time since I had to retake the course due to being put on probation, 1st sem I had a rlly high grade in the course. I js never tried hard on the final exam due to that I passed the course but gpa wasn't it. Now with dzung I thought the course would be the same. Don't fool urself like me. 100% harder u will regret
HA is the devil for math. He is a super tough grader and makes unnecessarily hard exams. The 5.0 reviews are from COVID times when he gave extra time. Now, you just get super hard question in the exact same amount of time. Even though I got a 4.33, I am not looking forward to Linear Alg with him next year. Horrible professor, try and avoid always.
Midterm and exam are nothing like what's taught in class.
very hard to understand at times
I don't believe I was adequately tested on the lessons and the textbook questions. They do not reflect the 45% midterm and 55% final whatsoever. Having Ha as the course coordinator was atrocious, since the exams do not reflect what I was taught. Be careful taking this prof, unfortunately he might be your only choice because he's course coordinator
Wasn't the easiest and most things are confusing but concepts easy to grasp after a while. Study slides
55-45 Final Midterm. Each lab question is extremely hard and different from the lectures (had the other prof). Tests extremely hard.
This prof is not bad at all! Attending his lectures will help you stay on track and honestly made his midterm and exam 10x easier. The grade is only based on the midterm and final so there isn't much wiggle room to do bad on anything but luckily his tests are both multiple choice which is what made this course easier
If you are thinking of dropping MTH141 and doing it in the winter semester DO NOT DO THAT. Do it in fall sem. Dzung Minh Ha will change the entire course introducing the Dzung Theorem changing the entire course. Avoid the prof and try your best to pass in fall sem. He won't post lecture notes and his exams are nothing like what is taught in class
the goat, nothing further
isn't the worst prof but he makes this course more theory heavy compared to the fall semester. attend the lectures because he does explain the concepts well and try to understand the labs and how to do them. apart from the 55 45 spilt i think most people are mad because they thought the material would be as easy as the fall term.
Horrible professor avoid him at all costs. If your stuck with him find a religion and start praying!
The worst prof i ever.
He does not reply to emails. Only graded by a midterm and final exam. Nothing is easy in his class. Lectures are not organized nor does he post the notes. No one shows up to lectures since his accent is very thick. On midterms or final exams there is no question that uses the stuff taught in class. Horrible and avoid
Missed lectures, cant undertand him or his writing, and when asked if we review the lectures and textbook will that be enough to prepare us for the exam he laughed and said, "Why would i test you on what ive taught you? That defeats the whole purpose of tests." if you dont want to have the urge of driving into a ditch every night, dont take him.
Horrible guy, puts things we havent even learned on the exams, other prof didnt even like him, half the class dropped after the midterm had to retake in chang S.O. Majed Alqasas (my goat). Hope he breaks his kneecaps or something, he does NOT deserve that 207k salary or any review over 1 star. Genuinely praying for you if you still take him 🙏.
Dr.Ha is a great prof, his examples are very similar to those on assessments. Lectures and tests are the hardest you'll see, but he always make sure to leave us with some inspirational words. Also he curved the final 3 times 😁
Words can't describe how much he ruined learning math for me this semester. Whoever hired him has clearly never set foot in his classroom let alone been subjected to his teaching for an entire semester. The man has a massive attitude problem and awful handwriting. You'd be better off learning complex analysis from a brick wall instead of him.
