Easy if you have taken calc before. bad teacher, but easy tests if you know the material. makes alot of mistakes on problems in class.
This class is the winner for possibly the most opportunity to be amazing, but turned out to be the complete opposite. He's boring, the material is boring, the class is slow and drags on and on and on. The hw isn't so bad, but you would think for teaching so slow that students would absorb more info
I took him for a Dean's Seminar. He's a great guy but not the best teacher. Go to his office hours if you need help. He's a much better teacher one on one. He's sweet and REALLY wants everyone to do well...but he overestimates how good you in math and that cause make hw/tests harder.
The dean's seminar sounded interesting....but it's not. He is unclear when teaching and confuses students by doing things incorrectly on the board. He's a decent guy, and an easy grader, but the class is a joke.
The material would be much better to comprehend and live up to its expectations as interesting if he didn't lecture in such a monotone, jibberish, and mundane way. Having him for an 8am class probably contributes to the class being tired and bored. I recommend not taking him, unless you really have
Lovable space cadet. Often screws up math in class. Very friendly. Grades middle-of-the-road. Somewhat boring lectures. Take his courses - there are a LOT worse professors than Robinson.
First off, Robinson is a nice guy. But with Math and Politics, he knows nothing. Routinely makes mistakes on the board, is very dry and confusing in a lecture (try 8 AM..it's a killer). Overall, not a very good class, he needs to learn the material better so it's not learning as we are learning.
Although he's kind of boring and unclear in class, the class is very, very easy. Always available for extra help and very lenient with grades.
A little boring for the morning, but he is funny and interesting if you really listen. Take this class to fulfill the math gcr, especially if you aren't good at math.
This class was very easy. He didn't really know the material that well though, I felt as though he was teaching it to himself at the same time he was teaching the class and often made mistakes. However he is a sweet guy and wants everyone to do well. It is impossible to not pass this class.
Dean Seminar Class..He means soo well, and really wants you to get into math with him but his lack of ability to explain concepts hurts him. If you are taking the class, don't rely on the lectures to understand stuff, go back and read the book. This will make everything so much easier. He is fair!
Robinson may be very intelligent, but certainly not in the area of Math & Politics. He was boring, confused and made the information as mundane as humanly possible. He ruined the simple ability of this class to be interesting. I hated it at 8 AM and would suggest not taking it.
I had Robbie for Freshman Advising and for Moral Calculations. He has a hard time explaining the subject at hand, but he is a sweet heart. If you go to his office hours you wont have a problem in his classes. He is the best adviser you can have!!! Trust me!!!
Nice guy, but very hard to understand. Concepts and course are very disorganized. Better than other math guys at GW. Murli Gupta is a worthless, nasty SOB.
He's kind of hard to follow sometimes- but he's such a nice guy.
THE CUTEST MAN EVER....HIS LAUGH IS AMAZING. NOT A HARD TEACHER AND GIVES EXTRA CREDIT AND POSTS LESSONS ON BLACKBOARD BUT YOU SHOULD STILL GO TO CLASS BECAUSE HE GIVES POINTS ON YOUR AVERAGE FOR IN CLASS EXERCISES. DEFINATELY TAKE HIS CLASS!
He's a well-meaning teacher, and seems to be a genius in his field, but is unable to convey the message onto his students. The homework, while a little difficult, is not given often, and his lectures are incredibly boring and difficult to follow, even in a non-math-major class like ours. He's a great guy, but is hard to learn from
take it for a math requirement. awesome extra credit - homeworks worth more than quizzes. its a great class for someone who hates math and needs to fill a requirement. and he's such a sweetheart!
I am pretty sure I was smarter than him, but it was the easiest math class I have ever taken. If you're not good at math, take this class. But if you want to learn something, run. Very confusing, very slow, and very easy.
i think he might be an angel. a very ackward and confused angel
He's socially inept. He's bumbling. He's boring. HOWEVER, if you want an easy math class with an extremely nice/caring professor, Robinson is your man. I've taken him twice and if I had any more math requirements to full I'd only take classes with him.
Robinson knows his stuff; sure, the "awkward & confused angel" description may fit well... but he means well. He is always more than willing to help students in any way, shape, or form! Highly recommended.
the class was pretty easy, you could practically BS your way through, much like i did. Robbie is an absolute DOLL. very nice, very caring, willing to help, and easy on the grading. take this class!
Take his class! It's awesomely easy. Sometimes the classes get boring, but he usually stays engaging. The work is easy and is generally fun. Even though he posts his PowerPoints online, go to class b/c he sometimes takes class work grades. He is very accessible and very friendly. I thought I bombed the final, but some how got an A.
very boring class, but easy. go to class and take notes and you'll do fine.

math 7 is pretty easy, good to fill a requirement. hes pretty easy, sometimes unclear and doesnt answer email questions. you could get an A with not too much effort.
such an easy class, it's great! he teaches straight from the book and the midterm was not hard at all. got 100%. also, homework is worth a lot so if you put effort into the homework, you'll come out with a fine grade in the end. definitely take it! i've heard other math 124 professors have been a lot harder than him.
This class is probably the easiest math class you can take it college if you go to class and do the homework. He's pretty boring though and usually review from the previous class for a good 1/2 hr or 45 mins before starting new material; that's kind of annoying.
an easy way to get a math requirement out of the way. if you liked logic you'll like math and politics. just go to class, listen, and take notes. quizes and tests are not that difficult if you attend class. if you don't go to learn just go to get a kick out of Robinson. he's a funny awkward man.
He has started teaching the class differently this semester, making it much harder than previous semesters. 70 people signed up at the beginning of the semester, and 25 dropped it. 1/2 of those still in the class are scraping by with Cs and Ds. I have a C- right now.
I have a C in the class but it is because I don't understand math. I have flunked everything in class except for the last homework assignment. Thank God for the activities. I think he is great!
i think he is agood teacher. the homwork is bit tidious, but over all it was a good class not so hard, for people who hate math.
Professor Robinson does a great job at explaining the material and is really helpful in office hours. I hate math but if you have to take it take this class. You don't have to buy a textbook because he posts the one he's writing on blackboard, which is really helpful. He's just a good person.
Professor Robinson is the cutest man ever! He is so nice and cares very much about his students. The grades and tests were incredibly fair. He is a fantastic teacher! I agree with the person who said he is an angel, a very awkward angel. :) He's the best.
Professor Robinson is a nice guy, but I don't think there could've been a duller option to fulfill a GCR.
I loved Professor Robinson! He was really helpful during his office hours and his lectures understandable. He is very awkward, but it's kinda cute, and funny! I never took Calculus before but he really helped me with the material, grading is fair as well. If you take a Math class, get Professor Robinson, you won't be dissappointed.
He is very nice and cute. If you are good at math, everything is easy. If you are not good at it, you need to make a lot of effort to earn a high grade. Anyway, he is still very good.
Robinson was awful. He goes over the simplest examples in class, then gives you webassign and written homework that is AWFUL and extremely hard. There was no teaching going on. He always said "You guys should thank me, this quiz/test is easier than last semester's" which was code for "You will all fail this next quiz/test" I would avoid him.
Robinson's homework was not that hard...you just have to put some effort into the class. He is a great professor and very fair.
Best Choice for Math 031. Follow his lectures and do the homeworks, you'll be fine. Got an A in this class.
Sitting through his class is like trying to stay awake after downing an entire bottle of Nyquil. He knows what he is talking about and his grading system is fair, but his ability to successfully impart information and knowledge to non-math whizzes is questionable.
His awkwardness might lead you to think he's soft when it comes to grading. Definitely NOT the case; he expects a lot, though he's not mean. Studying in addition to the homework is highly recommended. Grading is based on about written and online homework, quizzes, midterm and a final. Nothing is dropped. TA Kai Maeda was very helpful in recitation.
A very kind guy.
good guy. easy grader. teach yourself and go to office hours. TA is kind of harsh with homework grading. overall, the best choice for calc 1. make sure he gets to know you, he gives those he knows better grades.
Prof Robinson's lectures were boring and repetitive and made the class hard to follow along. His repeated mistakes on the board and on powerpoints hinder any progression of learning. The homework assignments are very difficult. There is also no good outside source to learn on your own since he wrote the only textbook on the matter. Do not recommend
Extremely rude, not helpful, have no respect for his students whatsoever.
This class was very straight forward, easy to pass and get good grades on the homework. Show up to class, as there are a lot of group assignments but overall quite easy.
This class is geared toward high-performing Engineers, and is nearly impossible for anyone else taking the class. Professor Robinson is not helpful at all in answering questions from students and quizzes will make you want to die. Lots of extra credit opportunities, but they aren't worth much in the end.
He's a real interesting character. The classes were often highly theory-based and seem off-topic, unless you actually gauged in: then you would understand how interesting they were. Can't slack off - no matter the Calc II class' professor, it's largely the same content. With Robinson the homework, quizzes, and tests are tough, and he'll tell that.
Math and Politics is great until you realize the amount of the amount of typos, mistakes in the textbook and from your notes. Professor Robinson is a nice guy but his work is untrustworthy. Tests and homework will leave you uncertain to say the least. The topic itself is interesting and nice substitute for a math class.
Professor Robinson's lectures are very fast paced, and if you are unable to grasp the material in a matter of minutes you will immediately fall behind. He does not explain his notes for those who may be having a difficult time and instead moves on to inftroducing what he labels "fun, interesting" problems, which are more difficult and irrelevant.
Robinson is a good professor, he may be a bit old but he still knows how to teach and teach well. He is a very generous curver and always does things to make students more successful. I would take him again in the future and would recommend for Calc III. You may have to read the book to make more sense of things but he lays a good foundation.
He wants his students to succeed. His teaching style made the material accessible, especially because it is an intro to complex analysis. Homework is worth a majority of the grade and the homework is usually not too bad.
Lectures aren't clear, but better than other calc 1 profs I have heard. Lots of EC opportunity but all total to 2% at most of grade. Quizzes in Recitation but he drops 2 lowest scores. Midterm and Finals are way harder than necessary and relative to other tests of other calc profs; they determine your grade and make them drop.
Robbie really isn't a bad math professor. His lectures aren't the most exciting thing but he explains everything pretty well and is super knowledgeable about the topic. tests and quizes usually aren't too bad if you practice the material and he always gives practice exams before the tests so you know what its gonna be like.
Professor Robinson is great if youve already taken a similar Calc class before. If you get to know him and meet with him youll come to find that hes quite understanding if youre having trouble with the course, but you wont gwt that in lectures. Goes through the material quickly in lectures and only uses textbook for homework.
the book you use in this class was written by this professor, and it is so confusing that you HAVE to go to lecture in order to understand what you're learning. He also has a weird way of not answering your questions, just hinting at an answer, which is frustrating. Pros about Robinson: the grade scale is forgiving and he answers emails quickly
Professor Robinson isn't a great lecturer, and the content covered in this class was more boring than expected. However, the grading policy is VERY lax. Our class got the best grades compared to the other two. If you like math, take a different math. If you hate math, this guy teaches the lowest level one the best imo.
Professor Robinson is very relaxed and kind, and I wouldn't worry too much about taking this class. If you have a problem, he'll work with you to fix it. That said, the lectures are a bit confusing but the grading criteria is all based on completion and you just have to pass a certain number of quizzes (you can retake), tests and discussions.
I took this class to fulfill my math requirement and this was the perfect class if that is was you are looking for. Prof has clear grading criteria and tells you what you need do to receive an A,B,C,D, or F. Considering a few of my other professors were rather unclear about grading, I really appreciated the transparency.
This is the perfect class to fulfill the math requirement if you are not a math major, and Professor Robinson is the perfect person to teach it. There is not a ton of arithmetic, the course mostly focuses on larger concepts and ideas. He gives extremely clear grading criteria so as long as you stay on track you are good for an A. Light work load.
Professor Robinson is one of the most understanding, helpful, and flexible teachers I've ever had. 10/10 recommend
(Took this class online) Prof. Robinson is a great guy. He's really understanding and accommodating, and it's clear you can tell he loves this subject. His lectures can be a little boring, but pay attention and you'll be fine. The homework is doable and you're allowed to work with others on it. Not really math heavy, just makes you think
Prof. Robinson provided a comfortable and laid-back learning environment to accommodate the remote semester. He is kind, caring, supportive, and knowledgeable. The material in this class isnt easy. If you are genuinely interested in the subject and wish to learn everything from his lectures, take good notes, do the readings, and attend office hours
Professor Robinson was one of my better professors of the semester. The class difficulty isn't too bad, so as long as you read and go to lecture it's easy to get an A. The best part of his class by far is the SPECS grading system. Good class not only if you're not that great at math but also if you're interested in politics.
Professor Robinson is the best math teacher I've ever had, he wrote the textbook that you will need for the class and you can find it as a PDF. There are a bunch of opportunities to pass the class, and he is really understanding and genuinely cares about his students. Would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking to fulfill the math requirement.
It's rare that you find a very hard class that you would take again, but Prof Robinson makes it worth it. I would take this class again. Very goof professor and very caring.
Robinson is great. He uses specs grading, which definitely takes the pressure off performing perfectly on every assignment. This class is meant for math haters, and he does an excellent job pulling in politics for examples. He is fairly monotone during lectures, but he is kind and flexible.
Math and Politics is a math class for non-math majors but don't misunderstand that as it being super easy! For what you don't have to do in arithmetic, is made up in confusing voting methods and writing proofs instead. One thing that saves though, is Robinson does pass or fail to grade each assignment so that it's more participation based.
The class really isn't all that hard. If you can do some basic math, the class is mostly just understanding different voting methods and apportionment methods. He is pretty easy to work with and understanding. Should definitely take it with him if you are looking for an easier math course.
He is really nice and offers a lot of chances to succeed. Take the class if you do not care about the lectures being engaging all of the time. He has makeup homework if you do not pass homework assignments. He also has essays in place of exams if you are better at writing than testing, which is really thoughtful.
Professor Robinson is a very sweet guy who is willing to help if you need it. His lectures can be a bit long and boring at times and he teaches straight out of the book. He allows for some collaboration on assignments and overall this class is pretty easy to pass.
Professor Robinson is so caring and really cares about his students. He lectures a lot, but the class is fairly easy with lenient grades. He gives great feedback and is willing to go over things. Highly recommend for a math credit for non-math majors.
I took Math & Politics with Professor Robinson virtually Spring 2021. He had an interesting grading technique, you just had to pass everything to get an A. There were plenty of EC opportunities to substitute out most things if you missed an assignment/did not pass. Textbook could be found through GW library online as well!
Professor Robinson doesn't give the best lectures. Still, you just have to look at the class PowerPoints to understand the material. It's really simple math and very lenient. He is accessible and indeed a fantastic person. The good grading + his fantastic personality make up for his sometimes subpar explanations. I never used the textbook.
a very caring and kind prof. super accessible outside of class for anything - he's a fantastic guy! lectures can be boring but the math is simple. look at the slides and you won't need the textbook. many chances for extra credit. you're graded on many different things which is great. grading is fair and consistent. would take his class again!
Prof. Robinson is a very kind professor. His classes can be a little boring because of his mellow personality, but he's very knowledgeable on the topics and the math is pretty straightforward. Would recommend taking a later in the day lecture to combat falling asleep lol. Lots of extra credit and there's plenty of time to do homework and quizzes.
While Professor Robinson is a nice person and clearly knows a a lot, but he communicates poorly and is very boring. Makes simple concepts and info harder to understand. Puts a curve on the class, but its still confusing and difficult at times. Just download and reference his slideshows, and ask questions when needed. TB is helpful but not required
Robinsons lectures are very boring. He is very knowledgeable but he basically just reads off his slides (which are very detailed). Attendance is not required so most people do not come to class. 1 midterm, 1 final, a few quizzes and homework. If you do not like theoretical math then this class is not for you. dont buy textbook, never used it
Poor Robbie. He is such a nice guy but unfortunately very boring. His Math & Politics class was very frustrating for me because I felt it did not apply to the real world, and it almost felt like he was pulling ideas out of a hat at some points. After all, he did write the textbook for the class. He was kind when it came to grading however.
Calc 2 is HARD. Robbie does not make it easier. He doesn't explain how to answer problems well so you're stuck going to youtube to learn everything. Quizzes in recitation weekly, the class average is always an F. He drops the lowest two quiz scores and lets you retake two others, and allows for extra credit. Hes prob better for easier math courses.
Professor Robinson is disorganized and inconsistent in an in-person setting. His teaching style is lacking in many ways. The class is very rigorous, confusing, and the lectures do not prepare the students for the assignments. I took this course thinking it would be easier for a non-math student, but it was far more difficult than anticipated.
Very kind professor but not the best lecturer, so prepare for online research. Very lenient grader, lots of extra credit, and drops worst quizzes. His finals are VERY challenging, he likely curves the finals based on class ranking, even though he doesn't say so. There were some questions on the final that I 100% got wrong, yet ended up with a 103%.
He's a very kind person, but not great at lectures. Be prepared to do your own research on many of the topics. He does drop your worst quizzes, and gives you the chance to make up a few of them. His finals are impossible, to the point where a failing grade on a final will turn into a saving grade. I got a 50% which turned into a B+.
Took Math & Politics for credit tbh. Overall fine class- required more critical thinking over math. Did well in the class mainly bc I worked w classmates on everything. RR doesn't lecture well but will give ec. Assignments: in-class activities, longgg homework assignments graded on accuracy (take the time to do these well), midterm and final exams.
I am not a math person in the slightest and was advised to take this course as it was easier than others. Robbie literally wrote the book on the topic and is obviously very smart, it is just a bit of an overwhelming class math wise. Honestly as long as you pay attention to lectures and turn in the work I can't see how you could fail.
I really enjoyed having Professor Robinson as a teacher. The class material was pretty easy. Even though some say that his lectures were boring, I highly recommend that you still go to them as he is a very nice guy and does a great job teaching. I have no regrets about picking him as a professor and I highly recommend him to others.
Well versed in the subject (he wrote the textbook) but lectures can drag. He is always responsive during office hours and offers extra credit. Not much to complain about other than the material isn't always the most exciting. Try to work with someone else if you take this class. Otherwise, you may struggle to work through some problems on your own.
Thought the class was an easy A getter but was way more difficult than I thought. Don't take if you're bad at theoretical math. Homework is hard and graded on how correct you were. Midterm and Final were easy if you study ppts from lecture. Extremely nice professor though, gives lot's of 2nd chances / ec opportunities.
