awesome professor. knows his material and very respectable. his lectures are understandable from the getgo. cute.

Lectures easy to understand. Tests very straight forward. Good personality. Very helpful.
The most organized, clear, well-taught accounting course in history.
He teached very clearly. He is good teacher. He explained details. AWESOME!!
Explains material very slowly and clearly. Exams are challenging and comprehensive of the course material. Do homework and handouts and exams will be easy.
He explains REALLY clearly. In order to go well on his tests, you need to be on top of the reading and always do the homework. He is one of the best professors i've ever had.
He is the nicest teacher. He really cares about the students. He alwasy explains everything very well and makes himself available whenever anyone needs help.
class is eassy but the exam is kind of hard. The middtern is fair. Hard at the end. Especially the final.
He is very nice, great effort to try to teach, but I dont like his lecture. Additionally, his fat assistant, Donna is awful, disturbing the class. Hard exam, but fair and interesting.
Unhelpful lecture. He tried to use new technologies to teach but it looked inefficient for the class. Very nice guy but I don't know why everyone likes his class. Mayby because of his authority???
I don't know whats worse, the regurgitated review from acct 220 and 230, or Earl and his wife Donna boring you to death with simplicity. The only reason anybody says they like this guy is because he is/was the chair of the department. He's unavoidable.

weiss is 1 of the best professors Ive ever had.Despite what people have said, Donna is very nice as long as you respect the rules laid out in class.Professor weiss does everything in his power to help u understand the class. He has stayed after class for over 45 min to help me with material.A++++
Best in the department, take him you won't be sorry.
Great teacher...nice guy...always willing to help
take him if you have problems in accounting. if you are an accounting genious, then you are not challenged enough.

The class is hard, and lots of homework, you need to put lots of effort in it. The final is difficult.
He is the worst professor I ever had. I do not know why he is teaching, he should be learning. NOT HELPFULL AT ALL. SAVE TIME CHANGE YOUR MAJOR UNLESS THEY HAVE ANOTHER PROFESSOR TO TAKE FOR ACCT 350. OVERALL HE AND DONNA ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR CSUN.
I would not recomend him. he is not very good teacher. he is rude and does not help anyone. the subject is not very hard but he makes it HELL. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. HE SUCKS BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the greatest professors, and a nice sense of humor too. Always willing to help, but not easy.
If you think 350 is hard, then drop out of the accounting program right now. 350 is a walk in the park. He is a good teacher. Sometimes his lectures are dry, but it's an auditorium, so what do you expect? 350 is just a repeat of 220, so why is it hard? Only new thing is going from cash to accrual.
Excellent professor, very knowledgeable and helpful. One of the best at CSUN
He explains everything clearly. His midterms and quizes are not very hard, but watch out for his final exam (it's very hard!!!).
Wonderful Teacher. Best teacher I had in CSUN.
He is a good prof., but if you need extra help he won't be there. Donna and him need to learn that in the real world people abbreviate. Do not abbreviate if you want to get credit for your answers.
Professor Weiss is a great professor.
He is a nice person,, but Donna is **** from hell,,, his midterm are easy but final is a killer,, very difficult and confusing questions,, personality of the teacher doesnt matter,,its how he lectures and if he is helpful ,, in my case he wasnt helpful at all,,
I would have never made it through acct without Dr. Weiss' help and wisdom. (It was my third attempt at intro. Oh how many times I wished he taught mgmt acctg!) His classes were definitely a highlight in my academic career. Thanks for taking the time to listen to every question!
Donna has to watch her mouth. she is lloking at a law suite very soon. Dr. Weiss is very nice.. but students can do with out donna
He's so hot
Dr. Weiss is a very nice man, although this class seems like a waste of time. Its a 2 3/4 hour class, and the first hour is usually wasted. He is very patient and answers as many questions as possible for such a large class. Donna is extremely annoying, but I guess her presence is needed to manage 160 students!
This class is all about self-study. Students have to know acct 230 like the back of your hand in order to get a B. Weiss is not helpful UNLESS YOU ARE A HONOR. Quizes and Midterm were ok, but final will kill you........very confusing and tricky (multiple choices questions)
Dr Weiss is cool but this is totally learning on your own type of class. Donna is hella annoying! i did okay throughtout the class but the final was like 3hours long its a killer!
there is only 1 new thing in this class. Weiss is a great person, not very helpful, the quizes, midterms were easy, the final was easy too, to do well you have to know your stuff really well, take this class very seriously if you want to do well, I studied really hard and got an A, it's possible but requires a lot of work and effort. Do handouts
I dont understand why everybody likes his lecture. It was very wast of time and not helping at all. Microphone voice is hard to hear. Donna was extremely annoying. Quiz and exam are ok.
final was harddddddddddddddddddddddddd
my GPA 3.7. Lectures r boring & goes over hard parts qucikly. 1/3 of the class each semester dropps. If u dont get an A on the midterm then ur not going to pass the final. This is CSUNs pride & joy, which is why Acct is the hardest major here. Dont take it if u had trouble in the lower acct classes. midterm=150 final=300 points. i got a B+

THIS PROFESSOR IS THE WORST PROFESOR. HE DOES NOT TEACH ANYTHING AT ALL. YOU HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING BY YOURSELF. HE IS VERY UNCLEAR AND I THINK THAT HE NEVER HAVE PRACTICE ACCOUNTING IN HIS LIFE. HE SUCKS.
final is very hard and covers all the material from finance accounting, there are a few new topics but you will need to cover them yourself. spend a lot of time on easy stuff and almost fly over hard stuff. do his handouts. they are very helpfull for midterm and final.
MIDTERM IS THE SAME AS HANDOUTS--FINALS IS MOSTLY OFF HOMEWORK AND HANDOUTS AS WELL. NOT TOO HARD--I GOT AN "A", BUT I AM A 4.0 STUDENT AS OF THE END OF MY JUNIOR YEAR. EVERYTHING I MISSED ON THE MIDTERM AND FINAL WERE STUPID MISTAKES. CLASS IS ALL REVIEW OF LOWER DIVISION ACCT.
I found this class very easy. Just do the handouts. Final was EASY, I expected something very tough. In reality I studied for this exam the least. In my case i had a small issue with the Modules, do them perfect! I had very high grades on both midterm and final. Zero challenge!Prof. is great. but disregard his comments of how hard this class is.
overall the class was really good...the mid term was ok.,,,but finaaaaaal was so harddddddddddddd..So people WATCH OUT FOR THE FINAL!!!!
disregard the ratings that say this teacher is easy. I am a 3.8 GPA student, and I can tell you this class is easy until the final. The final will kill you no matter how hard you study. Think you'll get an A? lets see
He's a nice professor. The midterm is easy. however, dont kick back if you get an A on the midterm becuase the final is hard and it can lower your grade if you do not study. final is hard, but can be done and not hard to get an A in the class. Just study class notes, handouts, and do hw problems.
He is the most excellent professor I've ever had. He's got a great personality and has lots of patience. He seems to enjoy teaching and is very fair to the students. Midterm and final won't be so hard as long as you understand the materials.
Review your notes if it' s been a while since your last accting class. Final is rough and LONG....
DON'T BE FOOL BY THE COMMENTS, HE IS VERY HARD HE LECTURES NON STOPING AND HE DOESN'T HELP YOU IF YOU NEED HELP, HE DOESN'T ANSWEAR QUESTIONS DURING LECTURE.HE SUCK AND THE SAD PART IS THAT HE IS THE ONLY PROFESSOR THAT TEACHES THIS CLASS , SO YOU DON'T HAVE AN OPTION. GOOD LUCK!
Pr. Weiss is terrific! He is a skilled professional, an extremely helpful and patient instructor and just a wonderful person. He will always help you with all your questions and concerns. The tests are not difficult but tricky. He likes implicit questions. It was a very interesting class. Thank you, very much! You are one of the best professors!
all i have to say is that the midterm is SO much harder than the final! i think this class was made to scare off students (it does). BEWARE OF THE ACCOUNTING MAJOR. haha
Best Professor! Tests are not easy but not that hard if you study and understand materials :) I really enjoyed this class!
after this class, non of the accounting teachers will teach! You sink or swim! He explains everyhing very well and encourages you to ask questions. If you have a question, he will take his time to explain. He has a lot of pateince and is dedicated to teaching!
Great Accounting professor who goes into details. Knows a lot and teaches a lot. Gives you enough fair warnings for the following Acctg. courses and helps you get ready for them. Cherish ACCT350, people...it's a downward spiral from there...Ü
He is a nice professor. The final exam is not easy, but if you are well prepared, you will pass. this class requires a lot of efforts even it's only one unit course.
I LOVE HIME, I LOVE HIM, I LOVE HIM. He is the nicest prof in the world. he is VERY orgenized and very helpful. You need to study hard for his exams and he doesn't curve. He is funny and interesting. Have fun going to his class.
CSUN is lucky for having Pr. Weiss. He is a PROFESSOR who cares about accounting and his students. Thank you very much for your kindness, patience and support. I am very happy I've met you in my life. You showed me what a gentleman and a professional is.
I never studied so hard in my life. this is the hardest class ever. 350 is nothing compare to 351. difficult cases and material. E.Weiss is the best professor ever!!!
The best accounting professor ar CSUN. He really takes his time to make sure his students understand the material. Acct 351 is a lot of work and Prof. Weiss does an excellent job at teaching it. His tests are straight forward. Either you know the material or you dont, no tricks. I wish he also taught 352 I would definitely take him!
Professor Weiss is a great professor. This is a really hard class. You can't fall behind. Dont underestimate this class. You really have to work hard. But if you work hard I think it is possible to do well. Tests are straight forward. But STUDY! I highly recommend professor Weiss. He is great
Without a doubt either one of the best professors I've ever come across. I hope to have him for as many accounting classes as I can.
Best accounting professor at CSUN. Super nice, clear and has moderately difficult grading. Very helpful at his office hours and truly believes in his work and teaching. Hard to get in his class because he is so desired.
Best accounting professor ever! He definitely knows how to teach.. very nice and very patient guy. The class is hard itself and hes aware of that. He is really helpful and really acknowledges his students questions. His tests are hard but thats normal for accounting.. :(
Excellent professor. Clear and consise. Provides all the tools to do well in his class. Approachable and friendly. You can see that he loves teaching and the students. Do the handouts and the reading and you should do well. Only thing I didn't like were the number of speakers we had during the semester.
No homework, no practice, and nothing you can really use. Everything from the slides, which will drive you crazy. 40% of the test is material you can't find anywhere - he invented it, and you have only one hand-out with 11 examples to practice upon. And you know what? - He is the only one to teach ACCT350, so you don't have a choice
He is a very helpful and understanding man. However, it is true that even if you practice everything he gives you rigorously, you will still not have seen a good 40% of the stuff he gives you on the test. Which means you either have to be a accounting genius or as most do, simply get lucky on a series of questions with no partial credit to get an A
This professor is really an amazing man who loves to help students to improve their grades, but he doesn't teach at all. He only goes over the slides, and its like you took the class on line. His test are kind of easy if you study carefully.
It's a 1 unit class, but do not underestimate it. It requires work. He is helpful and will explain clearly if you asked. Do the homework and go through the slides. The tests are not easy, because it's not always related to the materials. No extra credit - very little room for error.
Haven't finished his class, just completed the midterm. I can honestly say that his stupid handouts are major b/s! He doesn't prepare you at all, for his made up b/s midterm. He gives you the easiest practice and screws you on the real test.
Tests are extremely hard. Only a midterm and a final. Has handouts for practice but the tests are extremely harder than the handouts he gives. Nice professor, though.
Super hard class. He's lazy and doesn't teach, just reads off power points. Assigned seating. It's a 1 unit class, one midterm and 1 final, a few random hw assignments. Midterm is way harder than handouts. Wouldn't recommend taking unless you're good in accounting. I thought it would be a breeze, but i got an F! Good Luck!
I really enjoyed taking this class, but it was incredibly hard! This class is meant to weed out those who are not serious about accounting, so it is meant to be hard. Practice the homework problems from the book and go to office hours. He is a wonderful teacher, and I would gladly take him again in the future.
Prof Weiss is a wonderful professor & person overall! I enjoyed his class and teaching style. 1 midterm, 1 final, which are both multiple choice and a couple big problems to solve. If you study hard, you can get an A.The modules you do at home are easy points.Make sure to do ALL the hwk and handouts, practice them repeatedly--very similar to tests!
Very challenging class and demanding of time. MUST STUDY HARD! You have to do the hwk probs he assigns and make sure you can do them without looking in the book/notes. Practice makes perfect! I could have gotten an A for sure, but personal life issues got me a C. Make sure you take notes in class. Papers/research are HARD!
Midterm and final are WAY harder than any of the practice problems. Join the accounting association and see if you can find some of his old tests to get an idea of what the problems are really like. Work on the modules with a friend, they're easy points and you want to make sure you get them all (you'll probably need the help).
Thee ABSOLUTE WORST..... doesnt teach at all... his lectures are nothing like the hw which is nothing like the test.... old and very boring
The good news he is a good professor and easy to understand and is helpful if you go to his office hours. Bad news is the class is hard. VERY HARD. Designed to Weed out the people who don't want to be in Acct. Handouts are easier than his tests! Find peoples old Midterms to study from or you will Struggle. The Midterm is WAY Harder than Handouts.
This professor is great. He is a patience man. He teaches very clear and he is very supportive with his students. Ask any questions you have and he will give you a very clear answer. He is very helpful and makes the class very interesting. As long as you attend the class and did what he said you will be fine. TAKE HIM !!!!
If you want to be an accounting major, you must pass this class, and you must take Weiss. There is no other option. This class is essentially an accounting proficiency test. If you do well, you will probably make it in the accounting major. So take this class seriously.
He does not motivate his students. I came in this class with low self-esteem after he told us first day one-third of you will fail this class. What kind of professor says this to his students!? I did not appreciate this kind of speech from a CSUN professor. Very monotone...
Very nice guy. Be sure to study off old exams prior to the midterm. This class is difficult, so take it very seriously.
Has been GREAT for 351. Take the class seriously. 6 one-prob qzs that come straight from his practice qzs. 2 midterms. 3 cases. final. Hitns: all points for all qzs/midterms/cases/final have equal weight. Even if u don't do well on a final/midterm, u still may get a good grade by doing all qzs and cases well. Curves tremendously at the end!
This was one of my favorite classes. I ended up getting a C, but it was worth it in the end. I felt really time-constrained while taking the final; when the exam was coming to a conclusion, half of the class was still struggling to finish. Practice for speed and accuracy. The class is difficult but manageable.
Nice teacher. Tests are from his lectures. They are not difficult, but the way he grades there is VERY little room for mistakes. Your grade is composed of a midterm, final, and a project. The project is very easy. The final is 3/5 of your grade. I would have liked to take a different teacher due to his grading. That aside he is a great teacher.
Like everyone has said, the midterm is much harder than the handouts. I failed the midterm because I wasn't able to study from old midterms. I learned my lesson and was able to pass the final and the class. TAKE THE CLASS SERIOUSLY!!!
Very professional and always well prepared for class. Getting an A is tough, but he is pretty obvious about what he wants on the tests. The textbook isn't very important; focus on the slides and especially the handouts.
Professor Weiss is one of the best teachers ever! People say his class is hard but hey, if acct 350 is hard for, maybe you should consider another major. This class is just a review and Weiss is very clear on what he expects from you
Make friends, join BAY/AA. Don't need to bother reading the book, his slide notes, lecture, and handouts are exactly what the test was on. Study those and you should get an A.
This class is not hard and not easy either. There are certain concepts that are hard that you will need to know that are worth about more than one third of the test. It could be a very stressful class. Attend every single class and study for it every single day.
everyone making it sound like hell but you can pass the class with minimum amount of work. 1 Midterm 1 final you learn nothing in class book is only for reference. study the handouts and you be just fine. anything you ll learn in this class has nothing to do with acct nor it ll ever be useful. his teaching method isnt effective in 150+ stud class
Weiss is a great professor and very smart. 350 is a tough class, but it only gets harder. Weiss wants to make sure everyone understands the topics. Final is almost twice as much as the midterm (he does that to help you recover from the midterm). Tough class, but spend the time to study and understand the concept and you can get an A.
This class is very slow-paced. Attendance is recorded at least twice per session and he keeps you until the very end, if not a couple minutes after. You know exactly what to expect on the tests and he even lets you listen to music while you take them. Overall, a good teacher but his teaching method is somewhat ineffective for a class of 150+.
This class is deceptive. The lectures seem like a reiteration of Acct 220 and its easy to be lulled into a false sense of security. DO the handouts and recommended exercises and problems. I am a straight A student and because I thought I knew what I was doing, I barely scraped a C out of this class. If you do the work, you can easily get an A.
Of our class of 150, 30 people didn't pass. I feel bad that they have to go through this class again. 1 week before the MT and Final he tells you what's on them. They're straight from the handouts. DO THEM. Make sure you know how to do the overstate/understate problems. It's on both.
Excellent teacher!Crystal clear! However, the tests are tricky. You better know your stuff well.Attend all classes.Listen.Do all the handouts & homework. No need to read the book.Know your over/under well.Final is even harder than midterm IMO.Proud to be an A.Surprised 28 didn't pass.WOW.Class got slow after midterm.Overall I loved this prof & class
Pretty good teacher, but beware the multiple choice on the final, and over/under problems are much more difficult than anything you go over in class. It's easy to get a false sense of security sense everything we did in class is really easy.
worst teacher IMO. who teaches account off of like 100 page power point notes?! Accounting is a analogical subject that requires practicing sample questions and scenarios. I wonder how many students got discouraged from accounting from this class
Overall Weiss is a good professor. Class is very difficult though. Majority of grade is off of a midterm and a final. Gives handouts that are somewhat similar to the tests. If you take the time to understand every aspect in the handouts you will do well. Prepare to study 15+ hours for the tests if you want to do well. 25% of class will fail.
The worst professor at CSUN! DO NOT take him! He can't answer the practice questions well. He can't teach & handle the class in a professional way! He's a hard grader.
New Accounting students:if you complain about Dr. Weiss, you have no idea what's waiting for you.If you can't do well in this class, might as well give up.You have to PUT IN THE EFFORT! This class is SO LITTLE WORK compared to higher level classes you're going to take later on.Adjust your attitude or forget about it.Weiss explains very clearly.
Please DO NOT TAKE this class with him. His the worst teacher at CSUN. I got B, but he didn't help me at all as an instructor. I studied own-self.
He is the worst teacher in my life. If you ask him to help you, never he can't,because he doesn't have time to do that.
much accounting so help wow very understand debit = credit 2/10 gr8 prof
Prof. Weiss is a brilliant instructor. He does a great job in presenting the material to such a large class size (140+). Prof. is very approachable and has a bleeding heart for students in general. Make sure you understand all lecture and handout material inside out, and backwards. I barely scraped a C, and I worked my tail for it.
Great professor but this class is definitely challenging. If you try memorizing, you'll fail. 40 people didn't pass this semester and our overall class GPA avg was 3.4. Study the old midterms and the practice final, many m/c questions on the final are very similar to those. Lots of work but not impossible. Proud to have gotten an A.
He is a good professor. The tests are a little bit unclear, at times, but getting an A is totally doable. He is very enthusiastic, he cares about the subject, and he knows his stuff. Great guy.
He will go thu slides and move on. Teaches on his own fast pase. Will not curve or help you even if you were missing 1 point to pass the class. VERY DRY. He will act as if he cares for students but when you approach him he is rude.
Weiss does a good job of presenting the materials on the slides. However, the material on the slides is useless for the test. Practice old midterms and finals so that your'e actually prepared, otherwise you have no chance. Self-teach class meant to weed out those not dedicated enough or intelligent enough. I learned very little from Weiss directly.
This class will make you switch your major
Material he teaches in class is easy. He will hand it to you during the test. His final is hard! Part of his tests are fair (at least 50% of the material like the handouts). The mc on final is extremely hard. Getting hold of old tests is only way to an A. Very unfair, ineffective, and deceitful way of learning and teaching. Students have no choice.
He plays tricks. Easy material. Handouts are extremely easy. Makes hard final. I felt like I wasn't prepared for half of the test content. Students had to get a hold of the tests to do well (An A or B). I was too scared to do that bc I wasn't sure if it was allowed. Class is weed out. Dedicated students will pass. A if u cheat. Ethics? Psh.
Explains material very clearly; however, class is hard. Be prepared to put in the work and DONT MISS CLASS. He gives you all the help you need. Really glad i took him.
Best teacher ever. you have to attend the class for sure or else you will lose points. Reviewing last year tests will help a lot
If you dont start working hard in the begining of the class, you wont pass! STUDY STUDY STUDY. This is one of the easiest ACCT classes, but its very hard to pass, just imagine how hard the other classes will be. Weiss is an amazing professor; just make sure you study when new material is given.
Great class. I know people say he is hard, but it is easy to get an "A" if you get hold of past midterms and final, they are VERY similiar to his exams. I got a 95% on the midterm and a 96% on the final, which gave me an easy "A". He even offers extra credit. About 17.5% of the class got an "A" and almost 23 percent of the class failed. I recomd.
Weiss is an amazing professor, but you will probably learn more about accounting as a whole compared to what's on the exam from him. This class stresses many as it's the only one that's difficult to retake if you fail (you can retake with a high D I think). Make friends and build up your resume if you haven't as the road to internships starts here.
Easy lectures. But tests are out of this world. After the final exam I thought I failed. I did good from the beginning, got an A in midterm, full points in Sage 50. That helped me to get an A in the end. Need a lot of practice. Get the old tests (midterms) if possible. I think this is a weed out class. work your B off to get a good grade.
Professor Weiss is great. The material is pretty difficult, but he is there for you if you need him. My advice is to master the problems and handouts he gives for homework and take notes for exams. Much of the work he assigns is very similar to test problems. Grade is based on 2 exams and a practice set (online homework).
Let me just say this: horrible, horrible, horrible... Exams are extremely difficult to pass, nothing even close to the handouts and exercises that he goes over in class. If you want to get a good grade, you have to practice a lot.
This weed out class was most difficult out of 351352 for me. The material wasn't hard (material and handouts were very easy) but because the playing field was not equal. Students obtained old tests to get good grades on his very hard final and some students were not sure if it was cheating. Some students had them some students didn't. Its unfair.
Old test copies good for format but still have to know material. Bottom line in acctg learn by doing / practicing many times on each concept until you have solid ability to take info / blank page, & turn it into consistently correct answer. Material in class is basic. You need to know material inside & out now & that comes from DOING the work
Weiss is a great instructor. The material is not challenging, but you must master his handouts to do well on the exam. Old exams our out there, so make friends. Weiss knows they're out there... So he wants you to network (as you should as a future accountant). If you're struggling here, consider a new major.
Not an easy class! His class is mainly lecture which he just reads off powerpoint slides(sometimes adds on) making it hard to follow. His midterms super easy but for the final he puts the most random as multiple choice questions from his 200+ slides. I suggest dont wait till the last second to study(like me), start 1-2weeks before to get an A.
The class isn't easy, but Weiss is there to help. Your grade is mostly dependent on your own study habits since he mostly goes off powerpoints. Don't wait until the last minute for anything; keep up with the problems, handouts, and bookkeeping assignment. Repetition is key.
Professor Weiss is clear with lectures but not too helpful with explaining the handouts and exercises. We spent all semester going over his powerpoints but we never worked on any actual examples in class. The exams were okay. Overall very boring and disappointing class.
This is CSUN's accounting washout class. Roughly 70 students received F's and D's in my class, out of 220 students. Class consists of lectures, reviewing handouts created by the professor and hosting guest speakers. Exams are difficult and attention must be paid to all of the lecture notes. Study hard.
He is a great professor. He is nice and welcoming. DO NOT get fooled with the easy midterm. try to get a good grade in midterm, and practice set. And kill yourself over the final since it has 60% of your whole grade. even if you get A in midterm and PS and mess up final you are going to fail. Good Luck
Weiss is very knowledgable and will generally help you if you ask him questions during the class break or during his office hours. The material is mostly a review from 220, with some new stuff added. Getting an A requires 3 things: Practice. Practice. Practice. Also, remeber to understand, don't memorize! Fail rate is quite high, so work hard.
It doesn't matter how good an accounting professor is; if you don't have the proper work ethic, you're not in the right major. Weiss knows a lot, but the entire class is PowerPoint based in a 200+ seater auditorium where somehow attendance is always checked and hawk-eyed TAs deduct points for cell phone usage. don't slack off. master the handouts.
My best accounting professor ever...
He is a very passionate professor and he teaches you thoroughly. The success in this class is to sit in front. He is retiring, so he won't teach next semester. But, make sure to sit in front. Pay attention. Its a weed out class. If you don't pass, it means you don't deserve to become an accountant until and unless you had extenuating circumstances.
Professor Weiss is my favorite accounting professor out of the three I had so far. He's not as scary as everyone makes him out to be. He really challenges you to learn. This class is not as difficult as everyone makes it out to be, you just have to study for the grade you want. An A or B is doable if you put in the time and effort. STUDY, STUDY!
1 mid, Sage50 and cumulative Final. It was very hard, but if you study, study and keep on study you can get high grade. Very important to finish sage 50 early, and follow his instructions before exams; he tests based on what is covered during lectures, handouts and HW. This class is Acct1, 2 and a bit of 3, but still time consuming and hard.
The class seems designed in every aspect to test how badly you want to be an accountant. Large auditorium, 3 hour night class, and 3 big assignments(midterm, Sage 50, final) that you work on at your own pace. If you're unsure of your major, take it for a credit/no credit.
This is the gateway of accounting, washes out the students not serious about this major. Study and study for the final as it is 300 pts (60 percent of your grade). Do the extra credit as it helped me get a B in the class.
Professor Weiss is a good professor who really cares about his students and wants them to do well not only in class but in their accounting careers. This class was definitely the hardest class I have ever taken. Get ready to self teach yourself the material because the lectures are not enough. If you can get passed this class you have potential.
very nice guy explains everything very well. Mid term is very easy become and over and under master and you will be fine. Go to BAP tutoring and they can help a lot. Pro. Weiss thank you
Great professor. Hard class because its a hard major. Get ready to study and be inspired to be an accountant
Professor Weiss is a caring professor and is willing to help when needed. His lectures are based on the class notes that are available on the class website. Class grade based on a practice set, midterm and final. He is clear of what you will be tested on for both exams . He test on understanding of the concept and not memorization. You MUST study!
Great professor. The midterm was EASY I made a mistake by memorizing old midterms instead of understanding the concepts. Get started on Sage early and take it in one sitting. You might get tired of the evening classes, but this is a test to see if you wanna be an accounting major. You'll have to work a few sleepless nights and network with people.
Professor Weiss is a great professor, he cares about his students and want to see them succeed, but the only thing I hated about this class was the fact that the class is so long at night, and I saw many students fall asleep during lectures including myself. He does not use scale +/- Grading system. GPA Booster.
Professor Weiss is amazing. acct 350 is a tough class. I think it is used to weed out students not serious about the accounting major. The grade is based on 2 midterms and a final that is worth the most so STUDY STUDY STUDY. If you want to be a CPA you need to know the stuff in the class so study for sure. A Great Professor.
It is a hard class. Study handout is not enough. His exam is a combination from class lecture and handout. 2 midterm each 100, and final 300 points. 10 points extra if you go to meet the firm, joining AA or other club meetings. 10 points are matter and count only if it changes your grade. Be ready for practice, practice and more practice.
(Half online because of Covid) Understand the concepts! This class is the most laid back/ extremely stressful class of all time. Enjoyed his lectures when they were in person. Virtual learning of this course was difficult. Usually 2 tests worth 20% each and a final worth 60% (cumulative), but we had 1 test worth 20% and a final worth 80% Good Luck!
Professor Weiss is THE BEST Accounting professor, the most knowledgeable and inspiring! If you don't understand anything, he will explain any concept in such precise simple way, you'll love accounting! I've never met more knowledgeable, smart, intelligent, inspiring professor who cares so much about his students' success!Just work hard, that's it!
Do all homework, handouts and study hard for your 2 midterms and a final.
Great Professor. He teaches very well. The class in general is really hard, so you will have to put in your effort. But he is always ready to help. Overall, he is a good professor, and he has got a subtle sense of humor
Best Accounting Professor at CSUN by far!! 2 midterms and a final. Questions are similar to the handouts so STUDY STUDY STUDY.
2 midterms, 1 cumulative final. Make sure to do all the handouts many times. There are questions from slides so read them. Caring Professor, always ready to answer all questions. Not an easy class but it's accounting, you should put a lot of effort.
In this class he just reads off his power points. Youll never learn how to apply the material you learn unless you go to tutoring. He goes over specific issues the problem or homework has like what a shipping point is but never does an example of anything until after its due. Be ready to teach yourself b/c questions are frowned on. I hated it.
Professor Wiess is an okay instructor, not the best. His lectures are long and boring. Take notes. Study Handouts seriously! There are two midterms and one final, that's all, so make sure to study. The book is useless in my opinion, and I got an A on the 2nd midterm without it. This class is meant to take out people that aren't serious. Good luck!
He's tough. 3 exams that make up your entire grade. There's a one page paper that's pretty easy but you don't get points for it. However, if you fail to write the paper, you LOSE points. Handouts that give you an idea on what's gonna be on the exams except the exam questions are a lot harder. Don't need to turn in the handouts. Hard, good luck.
Practical, the class is a review of simpler classes then ramps up, and he gives great answers to Qs. I didn't pay much attention to lectures since they were so review heavy and I got bored/tired, but he was always interactive to students who needed him. Not much to help your grade though, STUDY FOR THE EXAMS.
- Make sure you go over his lecture take detailed note of what he's saying He says something that's not even mentioned in your slides and you'll see it on the exam -Watch the you tube sessions that students made for each Handout UNDERSTAND what's happening DO NOT MEMORIZE cz uses tricks to see if you understood -Attend the TA's sessions every week
the only problem is that he never explain the material. get ready to study by yourself. he only reads the slides, nothing else. WE CAN READ THE SLIDES TOO. WE NEED HIM TO EXPLAIN. AND THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT CLASS FOR ACCOUNTING MAJOR STUDENTS.
The entire class is to test if your really dedicated and desperately want to be an accountant, get ready to spend your weekend studying material not covered in class and figuring things out on your own. Don't worry if you won't pass the 1st test, you see how he tricks and asks questions. Night class and he talks very monotone, not fun to listen to.
One of the very Best Professor ever! It is offered as an online class only and it is a sure easy A. Take him as there is no other choice for Accounting 350. I hope that you will watch his lectures online by not writing down notes. Then re watch the recorded lectures and write down everything. Easy A
You are given all the resources needed to be successful. The material is fairly tough but with a lot of practice, you can get through the class.
Great professor! Lectures are clear and slides are simple. Recommend doing the handouts, then redoing them at a later date for practice. Use the textbook to reinforce what was taught in the lectures. Consistency, commitment, and practice are key.
Professor Weiss is one of the best professionals I've ever met and he's always ready to answer any questions students might have.
Really long lectures get boring after a while so definitely rewatch the lectures and write down every word he says. Attend the Sunday tutoring before the exam they're really helpful. Don't start rethinking your major if you fail the first exam its ok he has trick questions on purpose. If you rewatch lectures, go tutoring, and redo handouts than A.
The class was challenging but very doable as long as you put in the effort and work. The tests can be quite tricky so even if the concepts seem easy, make sure you really study and master them. Lectures are boring and a bit stale, and most of it will end up in the tests one way or another.
Professor Weiss is a caring professor that takes time to answer everyone's questions and is willing to provide alternative answers to each question. The lectures were insightful and equipped you with the right tools in solving the exam questions. Studying the lecture notes and repeatedly doing the handouts will benefit you in the exams.
He would give us lecture slides, which were all over the place, and you would get lost. The material was easy to understand once you used bap videos, but he would complicate them. The tests were not easy at all. The grade was based on three exams, with no points for any other activities and no extra credit.
Class is just too difficult. Your entire grade is based on the average of 3 tests and that's it. Statistically the majority of students fail the first test every semester. That puts immense pressure to get good grades on the other two just to pass. Tests are also significantly more challenging than what is taught in the lectures and handouts.
Prof is extremely monotone & boring esp for 3hr night class. He talks so slow that when u view transcript theres a period after every word. Ur entire grade is based only off of 3exams, not hw or assignments (no curve either). Tells u smth wont be on exam then it is. Extremely difficult and useless material. This class will make u rethink your major
His class is well organized and explains material clearly. He is very sharp and provides detailed answers for questions that are asked during class. However, he lectures at a slower pace and his class is during the night which can decrease your attention span. I suggest watching his pre-lecture videos and learning the material by yourself.
This professor is just awful. His lectures are so boring but at least you can watch them before your nighttime online class meeting. There is 3 test which make up your ENTIRE grade. Final is worth 50%. You have to take him only because he is the only one that teaches accounting 350. ONLY good thing is that it is straight grading without +/-
For the first time, many students took a class without extra points on tests, endless assignments designed to boost overall grade, or essays that are never read by the professor and given high grades. Understandably, they're frustrated, but in this class, a C student will indeed get a C, not boosted to a B or A by grade inflation.
Professor Weiss is truly an outstanding Accounting Professor. His teaching style is engaging and encouraging, as he consistently motivates the class to ask questions and ensure even the most complex concepts are easy to understand. Moreover, his respectful demeanor creates a positive and enriching learning environment. His dedication is remarkable.
Very intelligent in his field and is able to answer any questions you may have with the material. His class can be difficult for some due to your grade being dependent on 3 tests, but if you really study the material and handouts you should do well.
For context this is my first B- in my entire college career and have only gotten A,s or A-'s until taking this class. This was one of the hardest classes I've taken because he bases the grade of the class completely on 3 TESTS ONLY! He has other assignments but they WONT HELP they can ONLY MAKE YOU LOSE POINTS if you don't do them which seemed odd
not a great teacher, class is only available online & lectures are really boring 3 hours. The class itself is pretty hard but its intentional. He does tell you what is going to be on the exams and what to expect. Best advice is to study the lectures, make lots of notes and practice the handouts/practice that he offers. First exam is the hardest imo
Very boring class.
Might be the most difficult class on the face of the earth youtube videos have better explanations, good luck
Professor Weiss is a knowledgeable instructor, though the class can be quite challenging. Studying the lectures, taking notes, and utilizing resources like unstuckstudy can really help. Overall, the workload is demanding but rewarding.
Honestly, not all that bad. don't be scared. Though its a boring class, you will learn some things and he's a nice person
It was a night class which can make it very dreading and boring. The professor is very good, however, and very knowledgable. Try to make the best out of it, and my best study tip would be to make sure to practice the handouts.
This professor is knowledgeable and patient, always willing to help students. However, their 3-hour lectures can be a bit monotonous, making it difficult to stay engaged despite clear explanations. The grading is also quite stressful. The final alone makes up about 51% of your grade, which can add a lot of pressure to the course.
He knows so much about accounting, but the course is monotone and boring. He has a script he reads word for word which puts you to sleep. You don't have choice to take someone else or at a different time, so try to pass and move on with the program. During lectures, he will take time to answer EVERY SINGLE question, so ask as many as you have!
He's an old-school professor who is patient with his students and will go over concepts you might not fully understand. The course covers the first five chapters of the textbook, and you'll need to put in extra study time outside of class. There are 3 exams and 5 homework assignments throughout the semester. Lecture lasts 2-3 hours every meeting!
He's the only one you have no choice watch the lectures get the concepts down Over/under Trial balance are a MUST know by the end 2 midterms 1 final thats all you get. DONT underestimate his first exam you will not forgive yourself otherwise hes fine find some good friends and learn together dont be afraid to reach out to clubs and ask questions
The class and grading criteria is clear and straightforward. Your grade is based on 3 exams and the first exam is the hardest. Just focus on the concepts presented in the handouts and make sure you understand them. The lectures can be a bit boring but he uploads the pre recorded lectures so you can go at your own pace. Pretty easy tbh
Professor Weiss is the nicest person I've known He trying his best to answer any question you have for accounting
