I think he is new to the Microbiology Department but I currently have him for lab and I'm expecting a B. The quizzes are a bit tricky at time but aren't too bad. He makes lab interesting.

Attend class or you won't be allowed to take the weekly quizzes. Study the power points and participate during lab and you shouldn't have a problem. Prof Yoon is very clear on what he wants you to study.

Mr. Yoon is young but he's an awesome teacher. I think that's how he relates so much better to his students. He creates powerpoints for his lab topics that makes it easier to study for. He's funny and he makes everything interesting. Wish he taught 223-224 classeslabs though. Definitely one of my favorite teachers now!

He prepared slides that clarified the material - which helped with the quizzes, his labs were straight to the point, and he gave us study guides & practice tests for the practicals. His at home quizzes were open book, there was only 4 exams the entire 8 week summer course. He gave an optional exam 5 to help. No home work. I recommend!

Probably one of the best professors at CSN. He sets you up for success and also makes sure that you understand what to expect. Approachable and down to earth. If you get anything less than a B you probably didn't put in the work. I wish more of the science teachers at CSN would take his lead. I also wish he taught 223 224 and 251 lecture.

Very clear. Has power points that he reads from for the most part. Has what he refers to as "minute summaries" he gives at the end of each lecture, they are for points & are to help him and he will go over things that students are having difficulty with at the beginning of the next class. Rarely need the book. Prepare to write answers out on tests

I'm shocked some1 would say anything neg about Dr. Yoon. He is freaking awesome! Any professor who gives study guides that are almost EXACTLY like the quizzes is truly thinking of his students. He is cool & gives partial credit if ur close 2 the correct answer. Very helpful/accommodating. I was taking too many classes but still passed his lab. Thx!

Earl is a great lab teacher. He's very funny so it makes the class easier to get through. If you have any questions or you're confused about something, he gives you an example that is easy to relate to. Take this lab if you're terrible at biology and need to pass. He's a young professor, but still demands respect from students.

Earl is a great lab professor that is clear with what he expects of his students. His study guides for quizzes and practical will be all you need to pass his lab with flying colors. He is also a very fair grader, and willing to accept some answers if you talk to him. Best of all, he has a sense of humor!

This was his first time teaching Bio189 Lecture, and it was during summer (brave soul). It's a hard subject to begin with, but our class was lucky enough that he provided really detailed study guides. The tests were relatively straightforward, and he wants you to do well. His lectures combined with the tutoring center were a winning combo for me.

I took his class for bio 189 over the summer and I am glad he was my lecture teacher because he was clear and very thorough with his lecture. Overall just study over the powerpoints and do the study guides will help! His class consist of prequizes (online), unit quizzes(online), and exams. You get two tries on the unit quiz. Do them as a group!

Probably best professor. Took him for Lab and Lecture Gives good detailed lectures, you can print his power points, and gives study guides. Each exam has 20-30 mult choice and rest is short answers. Gives you half credit if you have it somewhat right in lab and lecture. If you have questions he'll help you out in person or email. Barely used book.

Professor Yoon is an excellent lab teacher. He was very nice and super helpful in clearifying confusing parts of the exams. Always encourages questions. Good at letting the class out soon as all assignments are done, but don't be fooled into thinking the lab will be easy. Can't take notes during lab, but gives you lots of materials to work with.

Lab professor. He speaks nervously sometimes, doesn't seem confident. Smart ass-ish at times. Knowledgeable about the lab. Lab was fun. Attendance is mandatory or you lose a portion of your grade. Flash cards can help. Provides study guides for his lecture/lab. Just study PP and show up.

Took this professor for Biology 189 lab at CSN Cheyenne. Very laid back, easy to understand and talk to. A young teacher and will help you if you are confused about what to do or how to do lab work. Pretty funny guy, won't give you a hard time and will make Biology 189 a little easier for you with his lectures.

If you're looking for a 251 microbiology lab teacher look no further. Earl is very precise on what he wants and will explain everything in great detail. He will even put comments on quizzes like "Don't give up." He cares for his students as he is still pretty young and understand what college students go through. Just study his power points.

Earl is a very chill guy, He breaks down lectures straight to the point and super simple. He quizzes you based off your Labs and directly from the Lab manual. This is was real easy, just read the lab manual before your lab and you should pass the class. id definitely take him again!

BIOL189 Young guy but very knowledgable. He is helpful and fair with grading. He does expect you to put in the work and study. Definitely attend his lectures for clear breakdown of material. I used his study guides (never used book) for every test and received A's. Tests have short answer so its important to really study and understand concepts.

He is knowledgeable about this class and it seems like he is teaching it for many years. Take him, you will not regret it! He is like the best professor I had. Why? He makes complex topics simpler to understand. His exams makes you apply your knowledge on a real-life situation, which gives more sense on why you're taking microbiology.

I took Professor Yoon for Bio 189 lab and lecture. I decided to take him again for bio 251. Yoon is very passionate about microbiology which made it much easier for us to understand! He had quizes inbetween exams so we wouldnt forget the material which I thought helped A LOT! You will learn a lot from professor YOON! You wont regret it!

The class has a lot of material. But he definitely helps to make sure everyone is understanding. There are some worksheets and quizzes, which I preferred because your grade wasnt only lab and tests. Tests weren't "easy" but extremely fair no surprises. If you study and go to lectures, you should have no problem passing!

In my opinion, Earl is the best professor I had in CSN. I hope he teaches BIOL 223. Got him in last minute, but best decision that I had! He is very kind, funny, and caring. The easiest class you'll take if you study. if you took Ap biology in high school this class will be a breeze. 5 quizes, 5 exams, on final exam that optional to replace your lowest exam. The test dates are final so if we don't cover the entire material then we wouldn't be graded on it for the test. NO BOOK REQUIRED NO homework

Mr. Yoon was an excellent professor this semester! He makes all his lectures really interesting and tries to make them as relatable as possible which helps you memorize topics a whole lot better. He also provides all the needed materials to be successful. If you study a minimum of 3-4 hours you'll pass. He's also pretty funny.

I loved Yoon's BIOL 189 Lab, he is hilarious. He made an effort to learn names, engaging, & cares if you understood the labs. He gives overview of the lab assignment, summarized quick lecture that coincides with BIOL 189 Lecture class which is a real help in grasping the info. Don't skip, short quizzes on previous lab are at the beginning of class.

I was one of the few students who took his bio lab during Covid-19 so I only had a couple of weeks in which I was able to attend his class. He is EXACTLY what reviews say; he always makes sure ur doing something in lab. His quizzes truly tests ur understanding so participation is a MUST. Biology 189 was a hard class for me just because all the concepts I had to learn but professor Yoon was very helpful. He had a review session at least once a week where he went over his lessons. I had Professor Yoon for Bio 190L. Amazing Professor. He is funny in class, makes lab really fun, and teaches really well. Something I really did like was we had weekly lab quizzes and a few days before he would send out a email breaking down what he will be having on the quiz and for you to study. I took BIOL189 lecture and since he didn't teach lab this semester he did not use the textbook. He is overall a super great professor and I would go to extra tutoring after class for a better understanding of things but you can still understand the material if you attended just his lectures. Would take again if I could for another class.

Biology 190 LAB. Professor Yoon really cares about his students. He constantly offered opportunities to ask for help, so if you don't take advantage of it (especially for the required Bio paper you have to do) you're missing out. Quiz about the previous lab is taken at the beginning of every class but it's easy as long as you read his emails.

I have taken Professor Yoon for Bio 95 and Bio 189. He is an amazing professor! He provides great lectures and also recorded ones. Gives study guides that truly reflect the exam. He is also a jokester, overall great professor and truly wants you to learn! I wish I could continue my education with him for all my Biology courses!

He makes difficult things easy. VERY clear explanation of the biology from the simplest to the more complex issues. Great lectures, though the attendance is not mandatory. But the textbook is not that helpful, so I tried to attend or veiw the recorded lectures on Canvas. One of the best experiences so far.

Professor Yoon is the man. He is by far the best professor I took for lab. He makes every lab fun and interesting. The only thing to worry about the lab was the mid-practical exam, the final practical exam and the research paper for the unknown bacteria. He is very clear on what he wants and hopefully more people take Bio 251H.

Earl lives up to the hype. Had him for Micro Honors which transfers to BIOL351 for UNLV. He presents PP's at Start of Class and explains what we do for the day. He guides you throughout the experiments and is there if you have any questions. While it was only 4 people in this class (nobody knows about this class), I RECOMMEND you take Micro Honors.

Professor Yoon's teaching style is very easy to absorb. He likes to crack jokes. If he makes a mistake, he will admit it. It is extremely possible to get an A in his class as long as you attend lectures and make flashcards based on what he emphasizes in class/what is in his video lectures. Downside: Sometimes he can fall behind in lectures.

Truly cares about the success of his students, cracks joke to keep students engaged. 4 unit exams 100 each, few small unit quizzes and a final. No homework! Only downfall is he can get behind on lectures and for me personally I felt he talked a little too fast at times. Cuts out material if nec. Staying on top of the lecture material is key.

Professor Yoon is one of the best professors that I have taken by far in any of my college courses. All tests are based on lecture which he also posts on canvas for people that do not attend lecture. Pretty much what he writes on the board is on the tests. The tests are multiple choice and short answers. He makes the test easy, no trick questions.

Great bio professor. Your lecture grade will be based off 9 unit quizzes, 4 exams, and the final- no homework. The exams get more difficult each unit, but study and you will be just fine. Goes over the material in a way that students with no prior biology history can understand but he falls a little bit behind the other 189 courses.

Professor Yoon is a very engaging and relatable instructor. His in-person lectures are very much worth attending, and he is very clear and straightforward about learning objectives/what will be tested. I recommend getting the textbook to cross-reference with the lectures at home as well as using lab material to gather further conceptual knowledge.

Earl Yoon is one of my favorite professors here. He is easy to follow, and has PowerPoints and notes that align with his material in class. He truly cares about his students. He's open to questions, and very approachable. He creates study guides, and has reviews outside of class prior to exams. I would highly recommend. He's cute too! ;+)

Professor Yoon is honestly theeeee best professor i've ever had! If you want to pass Bio 189 definitely take him. I was honestly so excited to attend every lecture, he made sure his students were engaged & that we were all having fun. He's amazing but make sure you study!!! The lecture progressively gets harder but Yoon made it so much easier!

His class was easy for someone like me who was WORRIED about my first bio class. His quizzes were easy long as you study his powerpoints that he sends after class. He will say what kinds of questions and info to focus on. He writes comments on your quizzes. He likes to help students during lab and he's very nice and caring!

Was very thorough, tests were based off the info in his lectures if you take good notes and study you will do well. He will mention when things are important and will be on the test. He does reviews and goes over answers before every exam online.

I LOVE HIMMM, he is like a sweet nerdy teacher who says funny remarks to try to make the class more engaging and tries to take the time to learn all of your names. He simplifies the textbook into slides to be make it easier to understand, but simplifies his own notes again to make it easier to remember. he offers study guides and videos, too! XOXO

He's funny and cares for his students I really recommend just make sure to have good time management and STUDY! and he's funny so you'll be good… don't worry your in good hands

(BIOL 190 LAB) Glad I chose this professor. One of the chill professors for LAB. Super funny and actually very knowledgeable in what he does. Not much to really stress over, make sure you study for the lab quizzes, and do the lab reports that he assigns. Super clear with everything and lenient. Please chose him if you want to pass BIO190 Lab.

I absolutely loved having Yoon as my professor. He was amazing at teaching and his exams were very clear cut and if you did the study guides, were honestly not that bad. He was always trying to engage the class and was really funny. If you have to take 189 take it with him. He's the best!

Took Professor Yoon for Biol190L, and he was very sweet. I enjoyed having him as my professor. He's funny asl too lol. If you're struggling, he's willing to help you the best he can. He gives great feedback on the quizzes and helps through lab procedures as well. Take him!

This is my fourth semester at CSN and is probably the best professor I have ever had. His exams were straightforward with a few tricky questions. If you study then it will be easy. Regardless, you'd have to study lots for any Biol 189 class you take, so take his class.

He's super funny dude, he's lectures aren't boring and it breaks it down to an easy way to understand. He always prepares you well to know what to expect for the tests. Highly recommend him for bio251 he gives good feedback too and replies fast to emails.
