was a teaching assistant but will be a teacher next year...he taught my phil class many times - grades easy and is very clear as to what will be on tests :) take him of Marenchin for Phil classes if possible
Great teacher, probably the best I ever had, wish he taught more than Philosphy, he is young, and loves tie-dye
Very cool teacher. He knows exactly what he's talking about and his exams are everything in his lecture, so if you go to class and pay attention you should make an A! Nice guy.
he was a very easy teacher. tells you what is on the test. multiple choice, T/F and 2 essays. i thought the multiple choice and T/F were tricky. but you have to show up to class every single day.
I enjoyed this class!
you have to take this teacher, he's friking awesome. tests are a breeze. avoid lewis at all costs, take aiman, if you want an A
barely studied for the tests and got an acceptable grade. but you have to go to class to know what's going to be on the test because it covers class material and not too much from the one book he asks you to buy
this guy is awesome , take him, he is so awesome, tests are a breeze. you will get an a if you are not an idiot. a "b" if you like to skip class all the time
This professor was very thorough with his teachings and reviews. He was quite funny also.
So tight!!! RECOMMENDED...HE'S A GOD!!! HEEHHE
PROF AIMAN IF YOU READ THIS YOU ROCK MAN. i THING YOU SHOULD BE THE DEAN OF PHILOSPHY
Had him for TA but he did lecture us once or twice. he knows what he's talking about and gives a lot of examples. Cool and funny guy. you should take him or marenchin. either one is cool.
this guy is freaking kool laid back class its all cake man
AWESOME TEACHER! His first impression is "whoa, a hippie, bet he doesnt know shxt" ..Wrong..he freakin knows exactly what hes talkin about and has a BIG vocab *scary*. Beware, he says he sits with the students on the frist day of class to ask what ppl think of him. ^^
his class is interesting and different...it's unpredictable...you'll never know what he's up to..his tests are easy and he's very relax and easy going...im glad i took this class...i actually learned something from it
hahahahaha!!!!!!! this guy is the S*H*I*T. the most helpful instructor in the whole world.....if you are not a total jack ass you will not fail his class. seriously, ed is awesome awesome awesome. knows tons about philosophy especially plato now that he has managed to help me write a 15 page pape
I think the guys who wrote this stuff above are full of**** if he fails football players he will fail you I got an F take it from me I think he might of reveiwed himself but if you are into reading and**** like that you should not have any problems but if you are like me you will not pass
great professor. yeah you have to read but he will tell you which parts of the book to read. his tests are ok. there are a few confusing questions but if you ask him about a question and give an argument on y u pick one answer he might throw out the question, he is cool about stuff like that
Ed is a total badass. The class is super interesting as it is, but he just makes it so laid back. I'm sure I learned more in this class than any other class I've ever taken.
Great teacher very laid back. possibbly the easiest teacher i had but u still have to study if you want an A in his class. otherwise just listen and you'll do fine.
pros: VERY easy 'A', and Ed is outrageously smart and well-spoken. con: If you really want to learn from him, you kindof have to be aggressive, because his expectations of the class are pretty low (a really badly trained monkey could make an A) I would still recommend him for the serious student, with the caveat that you'll have to press for it.
He was a great professor. As long as you took good notes in class and studied those notes, then you should do good on the tests. He really encourages class feedback. He jokes around with the class and he dresses like a hippie.
Good for an easy A, but nothing else. He didn't even read the class's term papers - very lazy and apathetic teacher.
You'll learn and have fun and it's hard not to make an A. Tests have about 7 m/c 7 t/f and 2 essays, but the essays are easy because he's already answered them in the notes you just explain. He's Hilarious
over rated
pretty cool
If you show any interest at all you will get an "A." He just doesn't like people who sleep in or skip his classes.
Ed has a different approach to teaching and makes ethics easier to understand because his explanations are down to earth and interesting. He doesn't make his tests like dead obvious, yet they aren't very challenging. He just wants his students to go to his classes and learn the basic material, not out there to fail you

cool dude..class is kind of weird but than again it is philosophy ..easy class
Very easy class, show up and take notes, some on the board, but write down what he says too becuase it is all important (our class did not understand this concept). Four tests and one 4-5 page paper. He let's you write it several times before its due if you feel like you need to. The class is interesting so going to it is easy.
Go to class + Take notes = A Tests are multiple choice and short essay. If you go to class, you won't have any trouble witht the tests. Aside from that, his classes are just interesting and entertaining in themselves.
HE is great, one of the BEST teachers I ever have had. I enjoy his class alot. As long as you try to attend classes, you'll make A's...
Class was extremely easy. Just go to class, take notes, and read the book if you want to make perfect scores. Exams consist of mc, t/f, and two easy essays. Class was always interesting. He's an awesome cool teacher. Beware the dreads!!! I wish he taught more classes because I <3 Him!
he's an awesome teacher! very nice and helpful! grades really easy! makes philosophy interesting! just take good notes and listen in class and ur sure to make at least an A or B on the test. very lenient. FUnny guy!
Great teacher- super easy if you try
Had this guy for Logic and intro to Phil. He's great! He'll walk in with a collared shirt into class but as soon as the door is closed he'll break out the tye dyed tshirt and pull out the dreads. Good class discussions and he is there to help in every way possible. You won't be dissapointed.
Good Professor, I THINK it was 4 test, the last test was the final, 1 term paper and we had to read an article in the book and explain what the meaning of it was. not a hard class easy A.
Prof. Aiman is great. I had no interest in Philosophy whatsoever but he made it really interesting and fun and I did well. He loves to teach and you can tell because he really wants his students to understand the material and learn. As long as you don't miss class and pay attention you will be fine. And DON'T PLAGARIZE!
Awesome class! Awesome teacher! Aiman is one my favorite teachers at UH. Hes a very dynamic speaker so you will enjoy his lectures. I only wish he was teaching more classes at UH. The fall07 semester I dont think hes teaching at UH though. Hes very helpful outside of class as well, just give him a call and hes more than willing to help.
great teacher, really easy teacher but the best part is that u actually learn. hes also very hot in hes on way and funny, highly recommend u take
Coolest prof you'll ever meet. Has dreadlocks... =) Class is very very easy if you attend the lectures. Tests are based off of what he says. You can actually get by without reading the many books. Just go to class, listen, you'll make an A. DUMBASSIFICATION! =)
EAsy along as you go to lecture that all! 4-one page assignment and 1(5-6) essay and 3 or 4 tests, i forgot!!
He may seem cool at first, but this guy is one of the most unorganized people I have met. He loses your work, he doesn't return emails, and he is never there during his office hours. I am a hard working student that is on scholarship and I made a D in the class because he lost my test. If you take from him, be prepared for him to lose your stuff.
Possibly the worst professor I ever had.
Fantastic teacher. I highly recommend him. His lectures are very entertaining and interesting at the same time. You'll do great on the exams if you pay attention in class. There are several opinion papers , 3 exams and no final.
he is an awesome proffesor!!!! i totally recomend him! his tests are based on lectures and best part is sometimes you dont even have to read the books in order to do good in his class! its an easy A if u go to class and take good notes!
Awesome professor! Awesome tests! Awesome class. Do attend class (though not necessary) because he will go over everything that will be on quizzes/tests. Plus, he's pretty hilarious!
great teacher. he actually keeps you interested and he's pretty laid back and chill. took him on saturdays, always left at least half an hour to an hour early. if it was test test days then maybe even 2 hours early. easy tests if you read the chapter and take good notes in class. i would say easy A but still gotta do the work & participate in class
This is a great prof. The class was easy enough and entretaining. He teaches at both UH and San Jac North and its the same subject matter.
Many teachers just give you the information and expect you to understand what it means. But he is not one of those professors; he will break down the most complex concept to a level that any student can understand. Plus he makes the class interesting and enjoyable.
I am girl of Indian decent and he always hit on me. It made me very uncomfortable. He would also hit on other girls of dark decent. He plays favorites a lot.
Extremely unorganized. It would take him five or ten minutes to start class because he would be digging through the wads of paper in his backpack. Very unprofessional...
Awesome teacher...easy class. just have to go to class and take notes.
I had high expectations of this class because I'm interested in Ethics and this prof delivered. He is wise, funny, helpful, and so real. You have to show up in order for this class to be easy because it's his interesting lectures that make it easy + some test questions are from the lecture only. I liked the book he used too.
I'm in his intro to Ethics. He makes the subject interesting and applicable to daily life. His little, personal stories are also hilarious! Helpful so far. TA responds quickly as well. And he's kind of a hot, attractive hippie, not that that should mater...lol. Take him!
I recommed everyone to take this class, it is very interesting and the teacher is very understanding. you have to go to class to do good but why not go to class hes hilarious and his little stories are a plus
Good teacher. Exams are easy. The only way you will fail is by not reading anything at all.
I hated essay and thought phil would be boring but he made it pretty fun to learn! There are 4 exams (easy if you study) & 2 essay (write beforehand and memorize it!), 4 reaction mini paper, and 1 paper (4-5 pages). He's awesome! I made an A-
This guy needs to be fired. He is one of the most unprofessional professors(if you can even call him that) that I have ever met. He probably goes on this website and rates himself highly. That's why he has as many high ratings as he does. As a REAL student of his, I advise you NOT TO TAKE ANY CLASS FROM ED AIMAN. It's just a waste of time and money
You have 4 exam consiting of half multiply choice questions and 2 essay for each exam;4 mini. reaction paper;& 4-5pg essay. I don't know what is the 'hype' with his ratings.-_-He takes forever to reply emails, exams questions are tricky, too much lecturing so you don't know what to really study(for an INTRO CLASS-INTRO!!),and nv on campus for help.
If you are going to take philosophy anywhere in Houston I suggest right here on Saturday with this teacher. Make it to class, listen through the lectures, and that's pretty much it. Uses supplemental material only, no rediculous text book with info you will never cover. He really knows how to bring the discussions out, get to know your neighbor.
He tried to be "laid back, relaxed" but it just came across as though he did not care about the class - sloppy. Easy A, just show up to class and take notes. Very direct about test material, gives essay prompts ahead of time. One research-ish paper which is easy as well. Easy, but if you're genuinely interested, take an honors phil course
Easy class, easy-going instructor. Not an overwhelming amount of material covered. Intent is an introduction to ethics, not mastery of it. Tests are generally easy, with just a couple of "think" questions included on each. Every class was interesting, moreso than I expected actually. Highly recommend Ed Aiman for this course.
Just pay attention to his lecture and you will be fine. He is a good teacher, really makes you think. LOVE THE HAIR ED!!!!
He's really interested in what he teaches but its hard to comprehends what he's talking about most of the time. 4 exams straight from lectures and a paper. Dont depend on the book, its more comfusing. write alot for essay portion on the exam, even when its wrong he'll give you more points, same for paper. never let you out early even if he said so
Awesome professor, probably the best ive ever had, very understanding and very cool, if you get a chance to take any phil course, take his.
I LOVED this class! He's one of the best profs i've ever had, he took a semi boring subject and made it really interesting. He's hilarious and doesn't ask too much of his class, just make sure you attend every lecture. Gives all essay topics for tests before hand and the rest is multiple choice. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
This class was so enlightening. I highly suggest you take his classes! He is a very conistent teacher and is great at getting back via email, usually next day responses too.
He was cool up until he gave the final grade. He gave me a grade lower than I should have received. When trying to contact him by the same email, he ignored them. He has little to no organization with his graded papers and tests. It wouldn't surprise me if he just bs'ed everyones grades because he lost the papers. He's also a perv.
He once was great until he reports the final grade. It doesn't add up. I tried contacting him after and he wouldn't respond to the same email he used to. I wouldn't recommend him if you are intelligent. If you watch Jersey Shore you'd probably like him.
Loved this professor! He makes class amusing! Would recommend! B+ with little effort. If I wasn't married or his student I would have asked him out! Awesome professor who loves phil and makes it fun!
interesting class, good teacher.
This professor is my FAVORITE ! He is the most helpful and understanding instructor I've ever taken. I've experienced medical problems while taking this class and he was very helpful and responded to every single email I sent. His class is SO MUCH FUN, and made me fall in love with philosophy. TAKE HIM!
I was never really interested in Philosophy prior to taking his class, but he made it very entertaining and easy to learn. He's a very chill professor who welcomes questions. I thought he was awesome! Definitely recommended. :)
Best professor I've had by far. Makes class actually interesting and his test aren't hard at all if you pay attention. Take his class!!!
AIMAN FOR PRESIDENT!!! If you need a humanities course, take philosophy with him. Even though it was a Saturday class,it was worth it. I feel that I learned a lot from this guy and he is very chill too. Wish all professor is were like him.
Dr. Aiman is the MAN! This guy is hands down one of the University's best professors. You have 3 tests which are comprised of 14 m/c questions and 2 essays each. I have personally never taken a Saturday class, but let me say this, if you NEED to take Philosophy then you absolutely have to take it with him, NO MATTER WHEN he teaches.
He's the best! One of the few profs at UH who are really good at their subject and make it interesting. The topics can get bit depressing if you think too hard, but his last lecture is very inspiring. Take him! and dont miss lectures as the tests are based on it.
Awesome! I was worried about taking PHIL because I'm not very good at it but he's the best prof to take if you're like me. He breaks everything down & makes it really interesting. 3 tests, 5 short papers & 1 final paper. Each test has a few MC questions and 2 essay questions that you can prepare early on because he tells you the topics in advance.
Professor Aiman is great! The class is very laid back and he is very receptive to students and likes to hear from them. The class has a general direction but but can be thwarted by class discussions which he often encourages. The test material can sometimes be tricky but it has to deal with concepts learned during class. Take him if you can!
He is very receptive to students when it comes to class discussions & questions. Very funny & jokes around. I took his 3 hour long Saturday class & it was never boring. Even though he has many books on his course list, he doesn't make us read them all the way through. He lets us know which parts to focus on. Definitely recommend him!
This guy's test is so hard. Multiple choice is so tricky but essay portion is easy if you go to class. Worked my arse off on the 1st test and got an 80....
Easy A if you go to class. The person below me is crazy. He's super funny and is one of those teachers that really loves what he does. His dreadlocks are pretty awesome also. (:
Easy A class. Test is not tricky, it includes the same material he mentions during lectures.
Super easy test as long as you go to class everyday and make notes and study a bit.hardly any homework but you should still do it!
The first exam was kind of easy. The later exams were hard. You better read your assigned chapters and the articles he wants you to read. Do that and you might get a decent grade. Otherwise, be prepared to do bad in this course. Do not just study one time! He will ask you very specific questions from the book, so do not treat his exams lightly.
Exams are a bit tricky. The final paper was graded way too harshly for this stupid class. Class is boring. No way to really know what's going on because he doesn't use Blackboard, so you have to wait until class or email him. He does not even respond that fast. I recommend taking a different humanities course. This is not an easy A course.
Grades pretty easy on essays on exams and multiple choice are fair. Until our final essay we have to write he just went ham. Does not respond to emails fast AND when I emailed him my final essay to ask if it's good, he says it's flawless keep up the good work. Get my grade back, 78. I have no idea what this mean. Do not recommend this teacher
I got A's on all his test. A couple weeks before the final paper I asked him about mine he said it was good. Get it back, he gave me an 80 and criticized my form and everything I wrote. Very strange. Class is not an easy A, you do have to work. His communication is horrid. No blackboard and horrible email quality. Bad professor.
He's a super cool professor with dreads and all, but of course, philosophy is just vague on it's own. His tests and little assignments are pretty easy, but he doesn't use blackboard or anything so it's a bit tough to know a whole lot about your total average
Professor Aiman is a fantastic professor not only does he clarify everything he gives you so many examples. I defiantly recommend him if you have an open mind and care to actually learn something new!!!
I did well on all the assignments so i was surprised when I got my grade..(3)Test/ all stuff discussed in class, the FR was bit different from what he told us it'd be over; wasn't a tough grader on it. 4 reaction papers(like 1/2 page each). and there is an open topic paper.Offers extracredit but way off campus. Cool dude, but random grading
I enjoyed Aiman's class. As long as you show up to class, pay attention, take good notes, and have an open mind, the A is yours. There was no busy work involved. 3 tests, 1 page papers about your opinion on something, and a term paper. He's kind of condescending about some things and very liberal, so just be mindful of that.
Hard class & hard teacher. Would not take again.
He truly interacts w his students throughout class which keeps you focused. 2 tests & 1 take home mid-term paper assignment. There were a few short response papers we had to write that were half a pg-1 pg long. He made having a Sat class enjoyable, not dreadful! Take him for PHIL! He doesn't use blkboard but returns papers w grades & comments.
I liked this professor and did very well on most of my exams, except for two. Even those were not so bad so I was very surprised by my grade. I felt like he bases your grade mostly on participation and thus your grade reflect. It's a pretty easy class so I will recommend him but only if you are a student who likes to speak than listen.
I loved this class, even on a Saturday. The professor was very interactive with the students, and every class made me think of how society has developed. His lectures were very interesting for me. The tests are not hard, if you take good notes and study them. He also gives essays, but they were not too long, and they were enjoyable to write.
HIS CLASS CHANGED HOW I LOOK AT LIFE. soo interesting, gets you thinking about so many different things! he is an awesome professor, took his saturday class and it actually made me look forward to saturday mornings. if you do your reading and study youll do just fine! theres lots of reading but not hard! he is very helpful and grades very fairly.
He is one of the smartest professor on campus. He is easy to follow and understand. He has an answer for everything.
Don't ever skip class because his test material comes straight from his lectures. If you write down everything that comes out of his mouth you will get an A. The papers he assigns are interesting and easy; you have many prompts to choose from. His lectures are long but interesting. He is easy going so don't be afraid to ask him questions or help.
philosophy isn't the most easiest subject to grasp at first but he really helps if you are confused and takes you through the topics clearly. attend class and take notes of what he writes on the board and you will get a good grade that you deserve (: would take again and he made this 3 hr long Saturday class interesting with personal stories as wel
He is the best Professor I took in a while. You should take it it will change your way of life forever.
I had him for Philosophy at San Jac during a minimester, he was very calm. At first you do not feel like you learn anything, but when it comes to the tests, you realized you did actually learn. The tests were short and easy, so were the weekly writings. Reading the books are not necessary if you take good notes during lecture.
GREAT Professor !!! Take him for any course required he is teaching. Very Calm and Comfortable at the front of the class and a skilled instructor!
One of the best professors I've ever had. He actually makes you think, and his lectures are completely from memory and phenomenal. A few required reading books but all are online and you read them in class. Would recommend 100%.
Amazing professor, amazing lectures. Take him, you won't regret it.
Wow, thought I would hate taking a philosophy class, but I am really enjoying it. I find myself thinking about the material outside of class, and applying it to situations in real time. Great professor. Knows how to present the material. Good lectures. Read the material, do the work, and the tests are not bad at all. Highly recommended.
The professor's stories are the best to hear about
Aiman blows my mind every day. He is like Socrates with dreads. I wish he could teach every course.
TAKE HIM!!! For a saturday morning class, this has been fun thus far. Best professor I've taken at UH. Really engaging lectures. Easy tests and papers. Cool dreds.
I had his class on a Saturday morning for 3 hours and i absolutely love the way he teaches, the tests really reflect the content and as long as you pay attention you are bound to do well
Everything you need to pass is in his lectures. He does not take attendance, but will make comments if you rely off classmates and only show up for tests. His lectures are interesting, he's very available outside of class, and everything for his tests are IN CLASS. There are in class reflection papers, so if you skip, you don't get points for those
Professor was awesome! He made everything in class relatable to today's society. The best, but you have to attend class otherwise you will fail.
Professor Aiman's class is so much fun! It's entertaining, eye-opening, and inspirational all in one! One of my favorite professors! Highly recommend going to class and taking good interactive notes! He explains things very well, so I didn't even need to buy the book and got As on all the tests and papers.
Honestly, if you show up to class and pay attention, it's an easy class. The tests are very easy and based off his lectures. I was hesitant to take this class cause it was on a Saturday, but i didn't regret it. He's very funny and caring, and he makes his lectures interesting. Theres 3 tests, 2 papers, and 4 in-class reaction papers.
I was so excited for his class, no I regret it. Very unorganized and puts grades until the end of semester. Only had 3 grades. His feedback is aweful, I asked him if he could read my paper, and he said it was good then he gave me a C. In class he goes of rants and off topic. If you don't answer his questions he makes you feel stupid.
If you don't go to class you won't do well on his quizzes because his exams all have stuff that are said in his lectures. I liked this class because it made me think a lot. The only thing I was disappointed on is my grade. I swear my essays should have been higher, but whatever. Also, classes are on saturday, which suCKS
YOU MUST ATTEND HIS LECTURES TO PASS! Aiman's lectures are very interesting, his exams and papers are based on his in-class lectures. Don't make the mistake of writing what he writes on the board, write everything that comes out of his mouth. He is an easy grader on papers, good feedback. I also used sparknotes to help study besides class notes.
Took his saturday class. He makes discussion fun. Everything he says is in his lectures. you have to show up to take notes and do surprise reflection papers that is usually a paragraph. There's only 4 so it wasnt bad. the tests can be quite tricky with wording but just do your essays well and youll pass. dont buy book stick it to the man
Watch his PowerPoints and listen to him on each slides and you'll pass. Write thoroughly on exams. Exams can be a little tough but it's all based on the PowerPoint. Write thoroughly and in detail. There are other small papers (1-2 paragraphs at least) Cool guy for sure. Very lenient on late items
Prof Aiman is an amazing teacher. His class will really get you thinking. Hes funny and caring. Participate, show up, do the assignments, and study the PowerPoints and readings he gives (EXTREMELY HELPFUL TO UNDERSTAND THE MATERIAL). Theres no way not to pass this class with an A unless you dont try at all.
class is pretty easy, you just wacth lectures on your own time, then he'll have you do easy short reaction papers/short questionnaires you can work on for a few days then turn in on Fridays usually. three exams or so, fairly easy since you have like 4 days to do them at home. two essays, he's not a harsh grader but his comments are harsh lol.
Professor Aiman's lectures are amazing, hilarious, and actually help with the tests and essays. The class consisted of 3 tests (no lockdown + no time limit), a midterm paper, a final paper, and a few short questionnaires and reaction papers. As someone who isnt interested in ethics, this class rlly changed my perspective in a positive way!
Usually dont make ratings for professors but I thoroughly enjoyed his class. As long as you show up to class its honestly very easy. Hes for sure a hidden gem.
He's incredible!!! Technically attendance isn't mandatory, but you definitely should show up because his tests come directly from the class lectures, and class is always super fun! We wrote two argumentative essays on topics of our choice which was super fun, and he gives really good feedback. He clearly loves what he does. Just overall incredible!
Awesome professor, attend class and you should be fine. Tests are based on in class material only presented in class. Class composed of a few things and one midterm and final paper.
The lectures are so interesting and informative. He is seriously one of the best professors I have ever had at UH; so caring, funny and inspiring. His class is amazing as he focuses more on learning of ethics, and not just completing assignments. The tests are also straight from the lectures. If you need a sign, TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!!
Easy class! Only complaint is that, for a philosophy teacher, he is surprisingly passive-aggressive if you do not attend his lectures. Tests are based on his lectures. My class was on a Saturday at 9 AM, when I have work obligations. He turned off lecture recordings near the end of the sem out of pettiness. Other than that, the material is easy
I had this class on Sat. and the lectures were 3 hrs long, but he does record them. He gets a little annoyed cause like half the class shows up during the live meetings. 3 tests, a couple responses to questions, and a final paper. All assignments are pretty easy if you pay attention in class. He also is very nice and cares about students.
Professor Aiman's PHIL1305 class is a gem. The lectures are engaging and informative, and he genuinely cares about student learning. While the coursework can be a bit heavy, using resources like Unstuck ai alongside the class materials makes it very manageable. Highly recommend!
Pros: Prof. Aiman cares about what he teaches. He's very well-versed in ethics and his lectures are always interesting. Cons: he's incredibly disrespectful to students. He does not post his lectures on SharePoint. Critical thinking is discouraged; you MUST regurgitate his notes if you care about your grade. He doesn't post on Canvas. Awful time.
Class is better structured in person. Doesn't post his recordings and if he does, HE can't even find it & asks us where it is. Class is very easy but is tedious. Passive aggressive, and knowledgable in the subject. I work Saturdays and when this isn't even a 3000+ course, he makes it like one in terms of attendance and lecture-based questions.
This was my favorite professor I have ever had. He is very nice and understanding. He gives great feedback and is hilarious. Being present does matter but it's for good reason. He makes the class fun and engaging so there is no reason to miss it anyways. However, if you do have to miss, you can just email him, and he will give you what you missed.
He was a good professor and understanding. Overall, good class to learn
He is a cool professor. He is very knowledgeable about his field. He gives interesting lectures and is very funny. Not too many assignments. With that said, he is extremely passive-aggressive if you do not attend his lectures; even though attendance is technically not mandatory, he will do everything in his power to make your life hard if you don't
"As discussed in the actual lessons" is his favorite excuse to arbitrarily grade your papers. If you miss class, good luck. No amount of research can save you.
ELIOT ASHA AIMAN
This professor was very enjoyable to have because he was funny and passionate about his job. The assignments were easy and the tests were open book. Attendance is not mandatory but very encouraged because you might miss out on important things. I know a lot of people who got good grades.
I'm normally indifferent about my professors but he was a rare example of a professor I genuinely enjoyed. He teaches things in a manner that is understandable and makes it interesting. The tests are very fair as long as you come to lectures and never feel like he is pulling random stuff from nowhere
A good professor and a great guy. Even though I attended almost every single lecture (no mandatory attendance), his passive-aggressive nature to people who skip genuinely bugged me. I did my best to be a model student, but when I had to miss one day, getting the info I missed was impossible due to his personal agenda, and my grade suffered.
Try to attend the lecture as often as possible. Good professor and his lectures are honestly interesting if you're willing to sit there for 3 hours. Test questions/assignments come directly from lectures.
Don't take this class unless you need to take it. The test were worth about 70% of your grade, so if you did bad on one, good luck. One major paper due at the end. Doing the assignments did nothing to help your grade. Was always confused about the dates of everything. If you miss even one class, it was hard to recover from. Would not take again.
He's a nice guy but lectures are hard to hear and are very lengthy(takes up full 1hr 30min class), and every exam is handwritten, including 2 essay prompts each. I did well in class but it took a mix of self study and active participation, he is very adamant about attendance. He's a fair grader but the lectures weren't my style and tiring to follow
