Well Mr. Balsdon was a cute man! His tests were hard for me and I say you DEF need to read and go to the reviews. His practice exams are pretty much the same as his tests. I think you HAVE to do good on APLIA also if you want your grade boosted. I found it more helpful going to his classes rather than skipping.

He is a very good teacher teacher a very hard subject, but it is doable. You just need to take good notes and listen during class, the book is helpful aswell. There are online quizzes every week that are really important, if you take all three midterms you don't have to take the final which is really nice! I got a B in the class if i can then so ca

He was a great professor!! Super funny and really helped his students learn the information. He is also super friendly outside of class and even helped me win an Economics scholarship. If you have the opportunity to have him as your teacher than you DEFINATELY should!!!

For such a big class (500) he is a really great teacher! He explains everything really well and gives last years midterms to study. His style is similar to Hilmer's (101) but he is a much better teacher!

He teaches in the ENS room for (500) students!! He doesn't really speak crystal clear his powerpoint slides, neither explains well. His class is extremely hard as well the exams. I had to withdraw with a professional letter to sdsu to drop this course. I don't recommend this course to nobody! Don't take this course if you are planning to learn or p

Whoever left comments saying this class was hard must be complete retards. I basically only went to the exams and finished the class was a 97%. He gives you practice exams that are the same style as the regular ones. Just practice them and you are fine. Aplia is challenging but not impossible. Final is optional if you do good on first 3 exams.

Good teacher. Gives you a practice test which has very, very similar problems to the real test. If you're happy with your grade after the 3 midterms you don't have to take the final. All of the notes are on blackboard so you only need to go to class for review and tests. Definitely recommend taking him.

A pretty easy class. Good professor and a very nice guy. I never touched the book, but I think you have to buy it for the Aplia CD. Pay attention in class, do the Aplia assignments, and take the practice exams, and you will do fine. I'd take him again for any class

He is a pretty cool guy but the class is pretty difficult. His grading is not super hard though. He posts study guides for tests online which were a huge help. Expect to do a lot of studying when test time rolls around. Weekly Quizzes from the reading so keep up. I tried pretty hard in this class and got a "B"

Take this class with confidence you guys, especially if you're good writers. The material isn't mindnumbing, and he makes an interesting course pretty lively. He gives a quiz once a week that you always ace if you read your notes from the class before. Simple, simple quizzes. 90% of your grade is 2 midterms and a final, all blue book. Go to class!

He is a pretty cool professor. This class is the easiest econ class I've taken at state. There are pop quizzes like every other class which are super easy if you listened slightly during the class before. 2 tests and a final. With the study guides from BB, studying for them are easy. Choose to write an optional term paper instead of taking final!

ECON 507 is a difficult class for those who do not have a solid calc 2/3 background. Good lectures and great feedback but make sure to dissect every concept and that you understand it well because this course is geared towards grad level students (at least that's how I would rate it).

Professor Balsdon is awesome! Super smart, caring, and goes the extra mile to help out students! This is the first time he taught ECON 301 and he was an excellent instructor for it. He has very clear course expectations so no curve balls! The class is graded by a midterm, final, 5 projects in excel and R, and online video quizzes. 10/10 recommended

I've had Balsdon for 301 and 321. He is a friendly professor and curves, also willing to boost grades if you show improvement. He has more experience in the actual field than in teaching and is very knowledgable. My only con is his lecture style is very casual so I tend to get distracted/tune out. Could project/engage more. But he is very helpful!

507 is a challenging class if you don't already have a solid Calc background. Prof. Balsdon has a good attitude and is more than happy to help students understand overwhelming topics. Problem sets will help prepare for exams, but exams never failed to shock me and really test my understanding of the modules.

If you keep up with lectures (he posts notes online) and do the practice tests you'll be perfectly fine. No hw other than four projects in R, which can be confusing, but he makes it easy to get help and understand what you need to do. He's a very chill, personable guy and seems very knowledgeable. Great class for an often boring subject!

This is a tough class. Make sure to brush up on your calculus. First 2/3 of the semester should be familiar if you've taken calculus. final 1/3, the material gets intense. 3 homework assignments (tough, but doable), sporadic quizzes given throughout the semester, 2 exams and a final (exams are "easier" than homework assignments in my opinion).

I've taken Prof. Balsdon 2 classes and I can safely say that he is a great professor and a strong communicator, I believe Econ 507 is very important for any econ majors as it gives an introduction to some basic multivariable calculus and linear algebra. I think he relies a bit too much on Powerpoint. I feel math is best taught with a whiteboard.
