Best lecturer in history department.
Great lecturer. Makess History fun. Tends to growl like a dog.
He has a really funny laugh, helpful, and a good sense of humor.
He's funny and you don't really need the books for the tests.

He is very intelligent, and amusing at times!
dont buy the 11 books! concentrate on the writing and u will do good
HA HA HA..is that a laugh? good teacher and sexy as hell HA HA HA HA HA HA H
So funny. Understanding about missing class or being late. Cool guy
Funny Guy. Good lecturer. Cool about late assignments. Does growl like a dog som
excellent prof. learned more about history hehe never forget his growl
He is pretty cool and a good lecturer... Beware when he turns out the lights!
I took him in the summer and it was hilarious. He does certain things that are so funny..his laugh! Overall, just do good on the papers and the lesson plan. Only one test and that is the final. You only need the books that you will write on for that week.
Wonderful professor. Great sense of humor, he'll amuse you! Do well on the in-class essay tests and you're set. Actually made prehistoric history interesting!
Wonderful professor. Great sense of humor, he'll amuse you! Do well on the in-class essay tests and you're set. Actually made prehistoric history interesting!
he's a funny guy, and he has a lot of imformation to disseminate. However, he is repetitive. His grades are based on writings and essays, and there is a lot of reading. If you try, you will not get lower than a B
Funniest guy ever!! four easy papers, one test. really nice, makes the class very fun.
Funny, interesting, fun teacher. He actually loves his job and it shows! Ngggghhh! Ha! Do the critiques, study for final get an freakin' A. It's that simple.
great funny teacher... tests are very simple and if you write anything you get a c.. dont be fooled by his looks once the sweater comes off his arms are huge
Dr. Beasley is a riot. Take his classes for an easy A or B. Oh, and make sure you do the required readings for the course or otherwise, you will be struggling to cram them all in time for the final exam. Take Dr. Beasley, he's cool!
Funny guy, I actually learned alot about European History and enjoyed it. I went because I wanted to hear who he would make fun of next. Easy A if you read.
Dr. Beasley is incredible. He was the first history teacher who I felt confident trusting. He is entertaining, wise, accomodating, and very informative. Put forth the effort required, and you will undoubtedly do well; he wants his students to succeeed.
Beasley is probably the most entertaining teacher I've ever had. He keeps the class entertained and you learn a lot in the process. This was one of the best classes I ever took.
Dr. Beasley is a funny, funny guy! He speaks to students in such a way that we can relate to him. He's a walking dictionary on John Stuart Mill (you'll hear his name a lot in 408 HIST). He "grunts" occasionally so get used to that.

Beasly is definately UNIQUE and is pretty entertaining actually. He is an easy grader so even if his course seems overwhelming, he will give you a good grade. But you need to double check with him becuase he will not record your grades for things.
Mr. Beasley is a very good teacher. The lectures can sometimes be a blur, however, the exams are really easy. He makes lots of jokes, so classes will be entertained! Overall, it's a great class!
Beasley is super easy. He never gives less than a B on your essays all you need to do is pose a good arguement. Do the an essay in place of the final, its way easier and he gives a better grade to those who took the initiative to do it in the first place.
His class is excellent. He is the most random guy but he knows a lot about what he teaches. He is pretty funny too. Class is pretty easy, just quizzes, midterm and final.
Dr Beasley may be one of the weirdest teacher I have ever had but you wont be bored. The test arent bad he gives you the question befor hand...If you have to take history take this guy..but beware of the grunting!!
Whooo...a hot pepper for him. He is hotter than a PERMANENT marker on a white board!!! Trust me!
This man is so damn boring, he makes these weird animal noises. His quizzes are aiight, but the good thing is he tells you ahead of time. BORING AS HELL
He's very funny and makes class fun. He doesn't give exams except for the final.
he is the greatest teacher i have had here at state. sure his class is hard and its not something to wing through, he always makes the class worth going to. he is too funny! i mean really he dances, does voices, and even demo a chicken laying an egg!

this guy rocks... he's funny and makes everything interesting. he is a little scary but i ended up looking forward to class wondering what he would do next. if you can take good notes, don't buy any books.
Fun guy. Jokes around. All essay exams. Don't read all the books. You don't have to. Just read 3 or 4 and milk them for all they're worth.
Without a doubt, the most entertaining teacher I've ever had. Makes jokes, grunts, and knows more history then a textbook. A few papers and no midterms- he cares about grammar but will help you and give you points for improvement. Final is an essay.
There are a lot of grunts, a lot of jokes, and a lot of reading. Fortunately (at least for the summer session) the reading is not technically mandadory, meaning he doeesnt test you on any of it.
People who say aiight cannot be trusted to have a brain. Anyway Mr. Beasley is cool, knows his stuff and enjoys teaching. Fun class.
What an entertaining history class. Easy and fun! A few short papers, 1 presentation, final is an essay. Don't buy your books until you know what you want to write about for your essays. Hilarious teacher!!
Taken him twice and i still walk out of his class every time scratching my head...ODD ODD MAN!!! And STILL cant seem to pull an A. Dont buy all the books, but for gods sake bring in TONS of textual support in your final exam!!
An odd man grunts and giggles to himself. You don't need the book, and you really don't need to go to class that often. Just keep up to speed on the papers and he gives you the actual test to study from. Got a B w/little effort
He makes weird noises and has the ugliest handwriting. He does nothing but lectures so play close attention to him. The books help somewhat when it comes to his in-class essay exams. He gives the question ahead of time so there wouldn't be any surprises.
Easy class, as long as you use textual support in your quizzes and exams. He tells you exam questions in advance, makes it easy to study, you just have to prepare yourself for some interesting grunts in class.
First meeting might think he is hard..but he is the easiest history teacher. Trust me!
Interesting tree impressions
THIS IS THE WORST CLASS I'VE EVER TAKEN! It is easy in that you have no tests, but you don't learn anything. He rambles about who knows what and makes disgusting noises. I am more confused about history now! The final is impossible because I didn't learn anything the whole semester!! DON'T TAKE!
Easy and very interesting. I thought all his "mannerisms" were really funny. He has this weird nasal thing that kicks in when he gets excited talking about history. He scares freshmen. One of the best teachers at State.
THIS GUY IS INSANE!!!!!!!!! but he makes the class fun and interesting. be prepared for moments when you have no idea what just happened and for his attention to be distraced by something completly off subject. also, make sure you turn cell phones of,he will begin dancing and if he really likes it
This guy has so much passion for what he does that he makes a fool of himself to get a point across. Lecture is very interesting, but rambles around and takes many tangents. Hard to write notes, but final is easy to make up with out the notes from class. Easy teacher, very friendly.
lots of books but dont have to read them all. all tests are essay type. said he'll let next semester students use notes and sources during tests. if so, thatll be so easy. overall pretty easy class, better than memorizing facts for another history class
Smart, smart man. This professor remembers everything. He knows history inside out. If you want to learn history, take this class. You won't be sorry. Take good notes on lectures and there is no need to purchase all the books.
he knows soooo much about history, quite odd behavior but keeps class interesting! i didnt read or buy any of the books, he has a couple in the reserve book room for the article write ups! fairly low key easy class
This guy knows everything about history, but sometimes it is hard because he gives so much info that you dont know what to write down. But overall an easy class, he is very funny, and keep your cell phones on and you will see a nice little dance
One of the funniest professors I've had. Makes going to class fun. The funny noises he makes about every 2 seconds will surely keep you entertained. Very helpful and easy grader.
Very funny and interesting teacher. I would recommend you to TAKE this teacher if you had to take the class. You will be entertained the whole period. Just make sure you take notes, and pay attention. His quizzes and test are essay style.
this class gave me a great concept of history. Very interesting class with a fun and entertaining teacher. i learned a lot. Beasley is great at explaining how historical events fit together to give you a complete picture of history.
He's hilarious! Does a lot of weird things like the chicken laying an egg act. Talks super fast, you'll never get it all down. Bring a tape recorder. You'll hear rumors about how he's an easy A but don't believe them all. Turn everything in on time. Good notes will help you on the final. The books are unnecessary and in reserve book room.
This guy is wacko, the whole class u stare at the clock wondering when the madness will end. I ended up getting fed up with him, and only went about 10 times. I did the 4 in class essays though, and somehow got an A. He is really there to practice lecturing, not to teach, so If u are a decent writter, take him
One of the best professors I've had at state. Extremely funny, Had the whole class laughing. I had no real intrest in history but Beasley has an amazingly easy to follow teaching style. I have never been able to take in as much information as in this class.
funniest guy - makes it interesting. never thought i would look forward to going to any class. he moves around a lot and once pretended to be a flea dying of bubonic plague - sooo funny. lots of people think he's crazy & i think that's the idea. pretty easy A - didn't need to study or even take great notes, just sit there and laugh.
I really enjoyed his class. He has a unique sense of teaching style that grabs your attention with his funny antics like showing how S. Africans culture learned agriculture by accidently dropping "seeds" or trash out of a trash can everywhere! His essays, project are okay and he draws various timelines on the board that are useful for the final.
This man LOVES his job. That's totally essential in history. As excited on fridays (even tho we're his only class on F) as he is on M and W. He climbs tables and stuff. His crap maps are awesome! Warning: He's got these big ol' glasses and you cant tell if he's looking at you.
i love this guy, he love history, he explains well, but he talks too fast . and he does climb up tables . he laughs soooooo funny , hahahah ohh and he has to have his diet coke or else he wont survive the class, his test are based on some of the readings and what he lectures , and he only does essay based tests. overall very easy class.
Ok class... about 4 in class essays... drops lowest. And one final. He gives you all the questions before hand and the tests are open notes. Impossible to fail. But bring a tape recorder... he talks WAY too fast.
3 write ups, 1 big write up, group projet (that he falls asleep to), observation and an easy final. he is a piece of work. he is funny, but kinda ridiculous. easy grader for the most part.
I like this guy, just turn your papers in early so he gets them back to you to write your "style sheet" where you fix your errors, if you turn them in more than halfway through the semester, you will never get them back and miss the %15 "style sheet" credit like me, but I still got a B+, so overall this guy is easy and a good professor.
I expected this class to be boring. Its history! but Beasley made it fun and interesting. He got into his subject alot and it was fin to go to class. The in class essay quizes were easy. most of them open book and the final was two essays about the reading for the whole semester. If you go to class and listen to his lectures youll do great!
Nice Guy! Funny--Laughed the whole time. Quizes are all essay style, but he really doesn't grade that hard. Learned more in this History class than any other. I got a B+, but honestly, I never studied. If you are a natural writer and can go to class most of the time, take him!
He is not hot....boring...but easy, I got an A, but i attended most of the classes. There is one 5-7 page paper that is really lame, so in general this class is really boring and makes you wanna fall asleep, but I got an A.
His eloquent impromtue lectures can be compared to the direct mandate of God Himself. Funny man and an easy A. Class is boring, but very easy grader when it comes to papers. All quizes based on reading, so try to keep up. Hottest history prof at SDSU... dont listen to anything different! Beasley- Total babe!!!
Okay, he's not really hot, but funny. He does make weird noises but that makes him even funnier. Easy A if you do all the work. Didn't really go to class and had no idea about the final and got an A. He rambles on but makes you laugh. I took him twice so that means something. I'd take him again, better than other hist professors I've had.
Prof. Beasley is an awesome Professor! He makes history fun! He is SO funny! I would reccomend him to anybody. His assignments aren't hard, just do them in a timely fashion and it will help you!
Mr. Beasley's class is funny and memorable. He teaches history in a way that will really stick to your mind! Unfortunately, his moodiness this semester has been a little distracting, and made it intimidating to speak to him after class. The class was easy, and I would recommend his class, specially night class students.
He definitely has his own style........pay attention!!
one of the most hilarious teachers i have ever had. he is so lively in class. pay attention and take good notes. write your papers early. it's a pretty easy class, i didn't have to do much and i got a b.
Really funny guy, easy going. He gives you the quiz question(short essay) the week before. And the final was 2 short essays and he gives you topics to choose from a week before. Entertaining class and his lectures combined with the readings in the book are pretty easy to understand and follow.
THIS CLASS WAS VERRRY BORING! When people say entertaining, they're talking about his funny hang ups and quirks. Once you get past that this class is rather easy. He gives quiz and final questions in advanced (which are essays), and all you need to do is integrate evidence from readings into a cohesive paper. He's not too harsh on grading either
Nice & amusing guy. Reminds me of a Mr. PotatoHead. Lectures do get boring. Grade=3 in-class essay quizzes (1dropped)+4-ish pg. paper+essay final. As long as you know what's going on in the readings, you'll be fine. For everything, write more than you think you should.
Knows the material, but horrible at CLEARLY presenting it. He's all over the map, not to mention extremely weird! What's with the grunting? Very funny & nice man, but a little too ADD for my tastes. Directions are vague and he assigns a ridiculous amount of reading. There were 7 books for this course, and yes, all of them have assigned reading.
HORRIBLE teacher. his lectures are all over the place and extremely unstructured/unorganized. he never clarifies what he is talking about and just rambles about irrelevant topics and often goes on long tangents. he's a nice guy but an absoutely awful teacher. he knows what he's talking about but has no idea how to teach. easy grader but WEIRD.
He is one of the best professors i have ever had. Very helpful and jokes around in class to make it more interesting. I learned a lot being in his class and now know things i never thought i would, he knows every single detail about history, very smart man. You will come out of the class feeling accomplished. Take him if you can.
He's a wonderfully nice man and helpful if you visit his office hours. Unfortunately his lectures are frustrating to comprehend & I found myself confused/lost most of the time. You need to read & prepare well for the tests in order to do well in the class. Since his class is so unstructured, you need great preparation to back you up.
Beasley is awesome. His teaching methods engage his audience and everyone benefits. I would recommend this course to anyone, and I?m looking forward to taking another course taught by this professor.
Beasley is awesome. His teaching methods engage his audience and everyone benefits. His lectures are intelligent and insightful and the grading is relatively easy. I would recommend this course to anyone, and I?m looking forward to taking another course taught by this professor.
Beasley is the BEST!! I wish he taught more subjects of interest to me. Funny, brilliant, wonderful, really taught me how to write and read a ton of stuff!! Awesome all around.
He's hilarious. He goes off on tangents but it isn't too distracting. He reminds of someone that would be a character on Gilmore Girls because of how fast he talks... and don't worry he's not having an asthma attack after saying a joke, that's just his laugh. Good guy. 5 papers, and the final is 2 in class essays.
Attendence is required in small section. The whole grade is 5 papers, small section attendence, and the final. Super boring lectures until you get to the 1900s
He's a weird guy...does the randomnest things but it's an easy class. You don't have to go to lecture...you learn nothing anyway...You should take this class if you want an easy grade.
Awesome easy class... if you hate history it is boring but he can make it some days rather fun. P.S. His breathing/laughing is hilarious. Take him you'll understand! good teacher.
He is the best! I can't imagine taking any other professor for history after this. I learned SO much about the world through his useful intelligent lectures. He is so well prepared and organized it's amazing.
If you are a sick writer, this class should be passable. Otherwise, its a crapload of reading and writing. I got an A but I wouldn't call it easy. Plus I dont know why i couldnt understand a word he was saying. Interesting stuff though. Cross ur fingers on a good TA. (I took him in a large-lecture hall, with TA sessions, me might be better 1 on 1).
This class is pointless. He talks without saying anything. He doesn't tell you what grade you have in the class. I was expecting to finish the class with a B but got a C instead. The expectations aren't very clear. I wish I had taken a different GE class that didn't bring down my GPA. If you care about your grade don't take this teacher.
Lectures are insanely pointless. I literally couldn't learn anything if I tried. Has TAs take attendance though. And its an easy class to pass if you're a decent essay writer. Had 4 essays during the semester, no exams, plus a final in class essay. Only clarity during this class was from my TA.
If you're a good writer, this class will be super easy. The entire class consists of several essays and that's it. Try to keep up with reading, but as long as you know enough about the book to write an essay, you'll be fine. The lectures are kind of pointless and boring, but he takes attendance every once in a while.
This class is so boring. Beasley's lectures are pointless and no one ever took notes, but the TA's take roll. All you have to do is write 4 or 5 essays that are only 3 pages each. Not too hard but super boring.
Funny dude. Took him during summer and his expectations are very clear. Take him.
One of the best professor I've had, he is funny, he doesn't grade hard on you,and he is comprehensive...If you want an easy A and learn a lot at the same time..take this class...
Funny, brillant, and balding awesome Professor Beasley. Take him for whatever history class.
Brilliant Beasley incredibly entertaining very clear on his expectations knows every detail of history easy class lots of reading but he is more concerned that students understand the material instead of strictly grading by a rubric. I will be looking for more classes to take with him.
Very good professor. He talks very fast, but maybe it was because it was a summer session. Easy class with clear expectations.
This guy know his stuff. He pretty much lectures with no aids except for some pictures he keeps in his usb. He's funny and grades leniently. Take him for any history class.
3 reading write-ups (3 pages), 1 longer paper (7 pages) and an in-class essay final. Learned a ton in this class. Beasley can talk a little fast sometimes but overall the lectures are clear. Crazy amount of readings assigned but if you read enough to write an essay about it you will do fine. Fair grader. I would recommend.
Good teacher, really knows his stuff.
Wonderful Dr. Beasley took a rather dry subject and made it very interesting. He even acted some parts of his lecture out as a demonstration. Took it over the summer-2 small papers and one large one with an essay final. Great class but only thing 12 books was a lot of reading for summer!
Really awesome professor. Really made a boring class interesting. This is a class with A LOT of readings to be done. 12 books to be exact. 3 3-Page papers with a topic you choose and ONE 7-9 Pg paper. And a Final that consists of 2 essay questions which are given since the Beginning of the semester. If you put effort youll be FINE. Grades Fairly.
Great prof. and person. Super smart with a quick humor. I love his noises and laugh.
I like Prof Beasley a lot...once you got passed his weird moan/groan laugh. He has a great sense of humor, which helps in a history class. He talks to us like people and offers a lot of freedom with the assignments and attendance. All the papers were on subjects of our choosing and the final research paper wasn't as hard as I thought.
Very passionate about the subject matter. Not too difficult, but if you have any questions he is very helpful. If you have to take a history class, take Beasley!
I'm taking 15 units right now. This class has more work than my other 4 classes combined
Awesome teacher. He talks very fast, so if you have a short attention span, he might not be for you. After listening to his lectures though, you get this sense of a historical high so to speak. He really manages to put you in a certain place and time. I've heard history majors say he's the best. Definitely take him if you get the chance.
Has an odd giggle, but once you get over that he is amazing. Has a great amount of knowledge to share and has great lectures. He isn't up there reading from powerpoints, he is up there telling stories.
Be prepared for lectures to descend into anecdotal jokes. Spends more time trying to make the class laugh than actually teaching the course. His assignments are slightly harder than other professors but if you aren't getting A's you are either stupid or lazy. If you want a fun professor take him, if you want a good, accurate, education, don't.
He is long winded and lectures the entire time but it is all important information for the final exam.
By far the best professor I've had at SDSU so far. I would just sit and listen to his 2 1/2 hour lectures being completely sucked in by his intelligence and understanding of history. His lectures were more of a set of stories which made patterns apparent that you hadn't seen before. If you love a course which makes you think abstractedly take it.
Professor Beasley is super funny, keeps class interesting with constant jokes and his crazy laugh. Lectures are always fun. 2 small 4 page papers, 1 big 7-9 page paper. He lets you choose your topic as long as you can find evidence in the text. Pretty easy grader if you can provide evidence. Taken 4 of his classes; got and A on every paper but one.
Great professor! Lots of readings but you can be selective about which ones you actually decide to read-- just know enough to write intelligently comparing multiple readings. Hardly anyone showed up to lecture but I always did because he's passionate and would give useful insights into the subject matter that made the papers much easier to write.
Great Professor! Very funny, makes the lectures interactive/interesting/very informative. 4 quiz's(paragraph answer), two 4 page papers, a 7 page paper, and an essay final. Relatively easy grader. If you present valid points with some supporting evidence you will get an A. I know nothing about history and only did half the reading and got an A.
a sweet dude but his lectures can be hard to follow, there's so much reading required if you want to do good on the in class quizzes and papers. He has really insightful thoughts but his lectures are so disorganized, which makes going to class pretty pointless. I like him a lot but he needs to work on his teaching style. Don't recommend :(
Very knowledgable about the subject, but lectures are hard to follow since his powerpoints are mostly pictures with no text. Lots of reading, and for us participation grades were based off small panels where you were expected to talk about the reading/lectures. For the essays, pretty lenient grader, as long as you backed up your points.
Beasley is a nice nerdy old man. His lectures are pointless and so is the reading. I went to class only on the days that we had writing tests or the days when we got the tests back. he will give you a prompt that is very vague and then supplies reading day-of to write about. if you are a good writer/bs-er you will do fine. smart but very confusing!
Definitely the most unique class I've taken yet. Graded by 5 in class essays. Extemely lenient grader. Lots of reading for homework but no one in class I knew did it. If you don't show up to lecture you will be lost, and will struggle in the final essay since it is cumulative. *Must go to class* Pretty good lecturer.
Professor uses a unique grading system, but is a lenient grader. Participation is key, as are the cumulative essays. Attending class is a must. unstuckstudy proved helpful for prep.
