Ed's a great guy. The class is easy and he'll make you laugh the whole way through.
Ed is a very nice man. He jokes around alot but, will teach you alot
great guy. really funny but you have to go to class. all the tests come from the notes he gives. i go every class and i have a really high A. projects are a lot of fun. great teacher
He is a really great teacher. He is very funny and entertaining. He makes the class fun. You will want to come to class. You will also learn a lot.
Ed doesn't take attendance but you must go because tests are based on his lectures and he gives pop quizzes that WILL hurt your grade if you miss! Mostly an easy and fun class, sometimes a little unclear and redundant!
I definitley recommend his class
Folks, you have to be a complete fool tom fail this class! It's mostly common sense and very easy to memorize. Warning: He loves to give pop quizzes so this isn't a class you can skip a lot because those quickly add up at 10pts each.
hes so cool you need to meet him
what an awesome teacher- hint- go to class and you will get an A- if you dont your an idiot
Very Easy A. Ed is very nice and funny. Class is fun and actually interesting. Shares lots of neat stories. Gives pop quizzes, so go to class.
Great guy, real funny. Makes class fun and easy. Be sure to go to class though, he does like quizzes. I would recommend taking him if at all possible.
VERY AWESOME PROFESSOR. LOVES TO TELL JOKES AND CUT UP SO YOU DON'T GET BORED. ENJOYS THE POP QUIZES SO TRY TO GO TO CLASS. TESTS ARE STRAIGHT FROM HIS LECTURES..... ALSO, LOVES TO GIVE RANDOM EXTRA CREDIT DURING CLASS.
this guy is freaking awesome his is the best teacher ever and if you fail his class you are and idiot moreover i would take the same class twice just beacuse he is such a good teacher
Good professor, funny & has good info on DUI's and other legal stuff b/c he is a retired cop. Recommend taking him on all of his offered courses.
Ed is a great teacher and definitely one of those that you can learn a thing or two about life from. I think everyone else said attend the class, and I agree. Good stuff.
Tests are mostly T/F, he offers alot of extra credit. Funny and makes class interesting.
Great teacher I would recomend everyone to take him. He is fun and outgoing and does not mind making a fool out of himself. Class is easy as long as you show up and take notes. Tests are t/f
Easy A/B, you know it's easy when the football players take it
This guy is unprofessional. If you miss a class, you're screwed, because he will give some kind of pop quiz, that cannot be made up unless you have a doctor's excuse. He makes you buy an overpriced, unorganized CD full of spelling and grammar mistakes. He seems funny at first, but it gets old.
He appears to be very funny and nice guy in the class. Don't let that fool you. He has two sides of personalities. He has very bad temper when he not lecture in the class. If you need to talk to him about the missing work, don't go to his office, it will get ugly.
I agree with the person about****having 2 personalities-he seems like this cool great guy in lecture, but if you need to go to his office and talk to him one-on-one it's terrible. LOVES pop quizzes and sometimes questions on the test are unrelated and make no sense.
Coon is a very nice outgoing professor but can be an **** outside of class. He gets upset when you go to him and ask him what you missed in class. If you take all the quizes, wing all the tests(very easy tests) you will make an A. At the end, the quiz grades decide whether you make B or an A.
Hides stuff in his class. You have to search to find hidden quizzes and stuff in the cd to make a good grade. is VERY unhelpful and not understanding of students who need a little help. very egotistical.
An A can be earned if you read your cd(which is much cheaper than buying a book) & attend class (b/c of pop quizzes & info needed for test). He has test ? samples on cd that are almost word for word of the quizzes & test. I would definately recommend him.
He is funny and laid back and was very helpful to me outside of class. All of his tests are T/F and he offers alot of extra credit to help bring up your grade. You will get an A as long as you go to class.
Coon is great! I'm taking 557 now. If you do your work, you will get an A.
after taking three classes with him you will find him extremely annoyiing at times, but overall his classes are easy if you just go to them
he's great, just do as you are instructed, and you will be fine. for all those people who said he is two faced, they prob should have attended class. that is why it is scheduled.
Great teacher, willing to help with anything and nice to boot. just listen and do what you're told and will be fine.
He likes football players and frat boys. Thats it

He's funny and easy but can be annoying. I hated his organization (or lack of). Everything is on a cd and he hides quizzes and random stuff which is annoying... but its all really easy. Lots of busy work and projects but as long as you read your notes before tests and do the work youll get an A.
coon is a dork...but he really does try to relate to his students and really wants everyone to do good...he talks about random stuff but if you just go to class and do the work youll def get an A.

Where do i start, first of all there is no sense in you wondering his rating because hrtm majors and minors have to take him. Easy class yes, but since he knows it is easy he finds pointless and unprofessional ways to make it hard, such as hiding quizes on cd and trys to trick you on the test. just be prepared for alot of Bullsh*t!!!
everything everyone else has said about him before is true. He makes an extremely simple class annoying by throwing in random homeworks on the CD, tests, etc. This class is still really easy, but you have to go and you have to do your work. Just be prepared for lots of bull*hit
very easy A. extremely boring because he makes stupid jokes and goes of on tangents. a lot of busy work. his class reminds me of middle school. need to buy the cd. he becomes very annoying as the semester goes on.
Coon has two personalities. one, a great professor that students just love. the other one, a jerk who is difficult to approach and not willing to help you. he's hilarious at first yet gets annoying after awhile. easy class but unorganized and you HAVE to stay on top of the random, hidden assignments on that useless CD.
entertaining in class, piece of sh*t out of class, hides quizes and other assorted papers on his CD, likes true/false, the kind with A&B, A&C, B&C, all of the above, or none of the above, they will really piss you off after a while, really picky about questions also
I really liked this professor, he kept my attention in class. The only thing I didn't like about him was his test, I thought they were very confussing.
I love Ed Coon! He's been a great professor and if you do the work, it's an easy A. Be aware that there are hidden assignments in the CD so read it before you come to class. He's very funny and the class will keep you entertained.
teaches a lot of valuable information in his class, but you have to put up with too much bullsh*t. He is a complete a$$ out of the classroom. For me in the classroom was no different. Hides stuff on the cd that you may never find.

You just have a CD no book. The CD does have hidden assignments but you are supposed to read before class. No attendance is taken but there are random quizzes. Class is really easy if you go. He will also work with you if you miss class. Go to his office hours if you want to increase your grade.
This class is very easy as long as you read the cd and turn in all your work. There is no reason not to make an A in this class.
This class is easy if you go to class. I screwed up and he still managed to have the decency to help me out a little. Nice guy he can make some really boring material interesting yet can also drive you nuts with his ramblings and repetitive jokes. Overall an above average teacher who will help you out in a pinch.

Fat, annoying, stupid little man.
Ed Coon. What a crazy guy. He's funny and class is super easy. Just look at your CD (no book) in advance and find all of the hidden assignments and extra credits. This class and all of his classes are simple if you actually go to class. Exam is optional. If a weird guy talks to you on the first day, be nice b/c it's him. If you are nice you get EC.
he is the coolest professor ever! he really cares about you as a person, but truly expects you to do the work! so as long as you keep up with the disk and go to class and keep up with the extra credit which he gives out in class then you'll do great!
It only took me five minutes to regret signing up for another of Coon's classes. He loves to hear himself talk and everything is a ridiculous "true story." He makes things up as he goes along and is unclear about what assignments are due and when. True, he can be hilarious and unexpected at times. But most of all he just wants a captive audience.

This class is easy if you go to every class... seriously if you don't get atleast a B in this class, then you should not be in college! He gives you so many chances to get extra credit that you could get out of this class with a 100 average as long as you atleast make b's on the two tests, which are very easy! Take it! It's intersting and he's coo

Coon is a good professor, but you have to go to class. Plenty of extra credit to help one's grade. Do the work, stay on top of assignments on the CD, and you will be fine. No tricky assignments or anything. A great class to take.
He is very easy. You will learn absolutly nothing. But, you have to take the class and be there...so enjoy a nap or read a magazine. The textbook is a POS CD-Rom..MAC users good luck getting it to work. Most of the info. he has "made-up" and is not industry standard. Also remind his of things...hes forgetful.
If somehow you manage to fail this class you truly are an idiot. ****can be annoying and some of the things that he says is questionable, but this class is impossible to fail. There are two very easy tests and two very easy papers that require a vivid imagination. If you are an HRTM major you cant avoid him, but if you arent dont take him.
He is retiring. But, may teach some. He is very easy..I had him for 3 classes. He changes his mind alot and somewhat unorganized. But, if he knows your face he will help you out. you have to buy a CD which he profits from.. mine NEVER worked. They say they work on MACs but, they DONT! EASY, EASY..take him..but annyoing!
I had****for all three of his classes. Find friends in the class, and go in on a cd, and just copy it. He is pretty unorganized and wont remember if you were supposed to turn things in or not. Basically, you can make things up and he will beleive it. He has alot of stupid stories, but he has some good information. Projects are a pain!
I do not like him. Stupid. Easy if you can toloerate him. HE CAN NOT SPELL!!!! AHHHH...so annoying.
I personally enjoyed the class. It was the only time during the day that I got to take a good nap. I did learn a lot of things and I really enjoyed some of he assignments. It is almost impossible to fail this class. He gives loads of extra credit but you have to do the assignment on time and don't just do the bare minimum.
Probably one of the coolest professors on campus! He will talk to you about anything, but don't think you can get over on him. Do the work and come to class. Read the CD cause he writes ALL the questions that will be on the test in the TEST QUESTIONS section on the CD. He is really nice and extremely fair. Class is fun!
I had him in Summer II for Hotel Law and he was one of the best professors I ever had. The class is easy if you show up and do what is asked. Great guy!
This class was more than I expected it to be. Not a breeze through. There is an extra credit sheet at the end of the year. Multiple choice exams but they are harder than they should be. Two projects and an optional final exam which i will be taking advandtage of. Textbook is a CD you have to buy for $35. He likes to hide info on the cd.
Coon is a crazy guy! Keeps class interesting and makes you laugh here and there. I recommend this class. He does try to trick you and the CD (no textbook) is hard to understand at times. He nails you with a couple of random pop quizes to see if you go to class. Easy A if you but forth some sort of effort.
Most fun prof. i've had at USC. Easy easy class but you have to go in order to do well. No book, just a $35 CD. 2 tests, a handful of quizzes, 2 papers that a 7th grader could get a 100 on, and a 25 questions project due at end of year. Gives tons of extra credit. It's real easy to get an A
I loved this professor. I really enjoyed going to his class. Well I had to.lol. Gave out random quizzes. I got A's in both of his classes but i had to do the work. His tests are tricky. Don't waste alot of time studying for them. But overall it was easy. Just very very very time consuming.
This man is crazy. His class is a joke. Its not hard but you need to go everyday because he gives random open note quizzes. 2 big papers that were the dumbest papers I have ever written for a college class and 2 mc 100 question tests. I left every class feeling dumber for having listened to him "lecture" for an hour. you will see what i mean.
Good professor.... grades kinda weird... but gives you plenty of extra credit opportunities... you should attend class since he does give you open note quizzes! overall a very funny cool professor!
Coon is crazy and you probably will be too by the end of this class. The assignments themselves aren't hard but he enjoys making them that way. He will trick you if he can so attend every single class, read everything on the CD, and take detailed notes.
this class was not nearly as great as i thought i'd be. he seemed really slack and was very confusing. overall the class is an easy A but it ended up making me realize hrtm was not the major for me. just don't expect a serious class.
This class is an easy A but its literally not worth it. This man should not be allowed to teach he is completly insane. The class is full of randome pieces of information that he finds interesting but are utterly usless. The "papers" are graded based on length, not content. I would change majors if I found out I had to take another class with him.
Why is he even a professor? Because of him, I realized HRTM is not the major for me. His lectures are SO boring. He is RUDE AND INCONSIDERATE. I HATED going to his class. Lectures did not make sense at all. He's always talking about himself and calls people out for no reason. No textbook, just a CD. BAD PROFESSOR! DONT TAKE HIM AT ALL!!!!!
People listen up,if u went through all that stuff he went through, you would understand his insanity and coolness.he will make class juicy but don't get confused by that. He is not a bad teacher nor person - Dom Lendjel
When this class started I really thought he was cool now at the end of the semester I can't stand him. He gives students busy work and isn't clear about what he wants AT ALL. If u must take this class then go to class because he likes to trick you and make things complicated when they really shouldn't be.
Class lectures were so tedious and dull punctuated by stupid random stories about himself, 90% of which were probably completely fabricated. Class is mandatory because he will give some stupid busy assignment to spite those who aren't there, but it is unlikely you will learn anything worthwhile. Keep up with his random demands and you'll be ok.
This is an easy but VERY tedious class. Nothing about the course is difficult by any means, but it does require you go everyday and keep up with the 2nd grade level assignments. If you keep up with it you can't get less than an A, if you don't its even easier to get an F.
if you dont make an A in this class you must be dumb! i made a 102 and put almost no effort at all. there are 2 huge projects but as long as you write a bunch of BS and have alot of pages you will automatically get an A on the project. his lectures are boring but helps with test materials. gives TONS of extra credit. really wants you to get an A.
A lot of people don't like him but i thought he was really funny. Extremely easy class, and a lot of tedious work. Grades on quantity not quality. Tests are directly form test questions on cd. Definitely an easy a and he has some gross, but sometimes amusing stories. Go to class for surprise assignments.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! If youre an HRTM major/minor, you have to, and he sucks. It's not that hard, but hes an absolute pain in the ass. He thinks hes funny, but by the end of the semester youll want to kill him. His projects are graded by length, not content. All quizzes are open book. Uses a CD instead of textbook, which doesnt work on Macs. Hes a perv
Good class but has a lot of tedious and lengthy work and projects. Hands out lots of EC and wants you to do well. If you can push through the 2 big projects and make them long enough, you'll be ok. Some stuff he says is weird. Tests are ALL true false and multiple choice, not as easy as it sounds. I'm an HRTM major so I had to take this class.
He is one of the best teachers ever. You do need to attend class because he is always giving out extra credit. Just go to class and follow the instructions, every thing will come easy to you.
HE IS AWESOME!! Make sure you go to class though because he gives a LOT of extra credit opportunities.
He should not be teaching. It felt like a kindergarten class. Makes you buy his cd which has hidden quizzes and assignments on it. Go to class b/c he loves pop quizzes. You'll think he's funny at first but his sex and drug jokes get old really fast. Tests are easy and the 2 "papers" you have to write are a joke. AVOID THIS CLASS IF POSSIBLE!
This class gets old after a while. He's a nice man but his jokes get really old. I would suggest going to class every time because you usually have to turn stuff in.
Great Teacher gives good lectures and is even comical. I learned allot and had fun. Sometimes his hummer can be a bit dry but overall it was a great experience. I would definitely recommend him to everyone even if you?re not hospitality major and I will look for him in future classes
Very biased grading. If you miss one class, prepare to be behind. Unorganized style of teaching. Won't answer emails or calls or talk in class. He only talks during office hours. Grading is ridiculous. Quizzes are never forewarned. Takes off points for random reasons. All over the place. Take at your own risk and write notes on everything.
Easy class. He likes to joke A LOT but it is NEVER funny. Assignments are mostly dumb and useless. He will take off lots of points for NO reason on assignments. Grades by length for the most part. Offers lots of extra credit. Just a VERY ANNOYING teacher, but is an easy A
Great Professor! Attendence is mandatory only because he gives the assignments in class and says things in class that you need to know in order to do well, but the class is enjoyable. Uses a CD, no book. He is funny and cares about his students! He wants everyone to do well. You have to be a slacker to not do well. TAKE HIM! Tons of Extra Credit!!!
GREAT teacher!! attendance is a must, but all work is easy and not much effort is required. go to class he will randomly assign small hw assignments, but all are extreamly easy!
Coon was funny for the first few weeks. Then his jokes kept repeating themselves. He never responds to emails, and only will talk with students during his office hours. His grading scale changes for every assignment and he really only grades on length of the assignment. Most of the work in this class is busy work, and he has pop quizzes in class.
Coon is a pretty decent teacher, given this class is seriously a joke. It's a survey course about the hospitality industry in general. Literally the easiest A (102) I've ever got. Gives busy work and random quizzes, 3 projects (which are really just long papers that aren't difficult), so just do the work and you'll EASILY ace the class.
Professor Coon is AWESOME! He give so much extra credit in his CD & in class. Just go to the class sit in the front section.Listen to what he says and if you need to talk to him go to his office he is a really nice man and cares for the students who go the extra mile. Work hard on the 2 projects for extra credit. Really great and easy.
OMG. I LOVED HIM SO MUCH...DR. COON IS SO HELPFUL. HIS TIME IS YOUR TIME. IF YOU NEED HELP GO SEE HIM IF NOT HE CAN NOT HELP YOU. THERE IS SO MUCH EXTRA CREDIT AND YES THERE ARE A FEW POP QUIZZES BUT THE CLASS IS FUN. THE WORK IS NOT HARD EITHER. AND THERE IS NO TEXTBOOK JUST A CD WHICH IS BETTER.
Mr. Coon is awesome. Go to class unless you want your name read out loud in front of everyone. He is really helpful and his test structure is unique, but definitely helped me learn everything I needed to know!
Great teacher if you go to class. One of the few professors who actually was successful in his field of study.
Ed's funny at first.. But as soon as you start realizing the pettiness of his assignments you begin to resent him. Also, as soon as he starts bragging about the 2 porsche's 2 harley davidson's, a fl. home, and many others, you begin to resent him.. he is far more interested in talking about his achievements than teaching a class. Be Prepared....
Coon is amazing. He's really funny and his assignments are easy. But you have to have a passion for the HRTM program and actually be interested in his class to be able to do well. He gives a lot of extra credit and loves what he does. Definitely my favorite class this semester.
Overall a great professor, works of a cd based book he designed. It is very important that you purchase and read carefully, it's not hard but there is lots of hidden extra credit through out the reading, Ed makes class a great experience
Awesome Professor...offers ALOT of extra credit. Coon is a great professor and very helpful. Uses a cd instead of textbook, optional final
Extremely easy class. Offers lots of extra credit. Jokes a lot and goes off topic. Attedance isn't manadtory, but there are a few pop quizzes
EASY. EASY. EASY. Do the projects, and use detail. I have over a 100% in the class, because he offers so much extra credit. Because I have an A, I do not have to take the final. Easy A class.
This class was so easy. Just do the projects, and show up for the quizes and you'll get an A. The projects are papers that are graded base on how long they are the longer the better the grade. He does brag about his Harleys, and Porches but other than that he's pretty funny.
Recommend taking Ed Coon! Really great professor. Gives lots of extra credit. Must purchase his cd. Keep your grade up and you can opt the final. He's hilarious too, learned a lot from him.
Prof. Coone is fantastic. He makes the class really entertaining, always looked forward to going. Tests and projects aren't hard at all.
Hilarious and entertaining
Very easy class. Attendance only necessary if you have a quiz or test. I found him to be not very inteligent though. He generalizes when grading projects and does not know what he wants. If you are looking for a class that will actually teach you something, this is absolutely not for you.
this class is super easy and interesting. will help with life no matter what major is. over 30 extra credit points throughout semester. tells you exactly what he wants and if you listen you WILL get over100 average. funny and entertaining. really gets you to learn information in class so little need to study for tests you have. projects lots of pts
He's such a funny guy and is really nice! There are a lot of pop quizzes so make sure you go to class. There are two tests and two big projects that aren't that bad. There's a ton of extra credit points so it's almost impossible to fail the course!
Incredibly easy online class. There is no textbook; only a worthless CD b/c he e-mailed the ppts and pdfs. The school should ban this type of profiteering since the CD is so costly. You could easily download info from CD and share with a classmate. It is a worthless class, but it is a very easy A.
His class was enjoyable. He was funny and enjoyed telling stories. It was easy to know what your assignments were because he repeats them a lot, all you have to do is come to class to understand them. I enjoyed doing his projects too!
Coon was an awesome professor! he always made class so much fun and interesting. his tests are kinda hard but he offers a lot of simple easy extra credit.
This class is pointless. It is common sense. The "textbook" is just a $70 CD that he created with personal pictures and info from his personal experience. He tries to be funny but takes it too far with sexual jokes and disgusting bodily functions. He is very particular about policy so watch out. It's an easy A if you follow his rules.
One of my favorite professors at USC. A hilarious man with a passion for what he does. The class was relatively easy; he didn't take attendance but sometimes gave pop quizzes and info about when assignments were due, etc., so definitely go to class. Very particular about how he wants the assignments done, so be careful. Overall, great professor!
Coon was an entertaining teacher for sure. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you go regularly you'll find he practically hands out 100 quiz grades for those who show up. Test questions were similar to those of years past. Overall a fun class
DO NOT TAKE COON. He loves to hear himself talk and some of the classes were straight up pointless going to. His directions are difficult to follow when he assigns a project. Makes you buy a $70 CD for the class that is pointless. He grades your papers based on how long they are not on quality. Gives a lot of extra credit only positive thing to say
Take Ed Coon!! His humor is a little out there sometimes but he is a really nice guy and this class is a very easy A. Just show up to class, do what he says on projects, and do the extra credit and it is so easy to get an A. I ended up with well over 100 for my final grade
Nice guy. Very crazy, but funny sense of humor. If you go to class and turn in all of your projects on time, you will get an A. Doesn't take attendance, but you have to attend. Definitely not a boring class.
The class is interesting, and he is very funny! It is a unique class. Attendance isn't required, but he assigns a lot of assignments in class, so they can be easy to miss. If you turn everything in, it is a pretty easy A! He is awesome, and I learned a lot.
He made the class interesting & taught straight from ppts. He talks about his life experiences (may go overboard or get off topic sometimes). YOU HAVE TO GO TO CLASS OR YOU WILL GET SO FAR BEHIND!!! He uses a CD instead of a textbook (must have. ) I would take another class from him again.
This class is very interesting and he has fun lectures, but he's a jerk at times. He talks about his accomplishments and cars more than the lecture topics. He is very conceited. I went to him because of a grade that I wanted clarification on and it was clear that he hadn't even looked at my project. A grade was simply slapped on. Be careful.
This guy was such a fat, redneck loser. I took this for an easy A. It was a mistake. Bragged about his two porches, which naturally were the shtiest models you could buy. Also, bragged about going on cruises. If you think cruises are cool, you clearly are doing something wrong, which is why the HRTM majors thought he was cool.
