You should get him if you can. He is exciting and crazy and makes the class fun
hard class but very funny and entertaining teacher
He is the best teacher in CSB for any class. Seriously.
By far the most hilarious teacher at UNCW - Definitely take his class - it's hard, but rewarding, and he's keep you smiling
Do the extra credit is all I can say if you want to get an A. All he talks about in class is his wife, his boat and his house and some real estate deal he did. Didn't learn much and it sucked that I had to go listen since he has an attendence policy.
Very informative. Wants you to LEARN. Always avail for questions. Very funny random tangents. Cares about his students.
AWESOME! He is the reason I changed my major to finance. There is never a boring class...he keeps you on your toes!
I agree: all I learned was how much money he (maybe) has and that he likes to go out on boats...who cares? Really needs to get a life: if he actually knew half as much as he says he does he might be pretty good.
Class is not too bad. He talks too much about boats and property & spends little time teaching material. When asked by students to slow down he said there wasn't enough time to. If he did more teaching and less talking students would understand better.
he sucks
I pray to God every night that I will pass this class. Very true. . . he should focus more on finance than his boats, or his house on the waterway, or whatever. He keeps me awake, but I think he his somewhat vague in his explantions of assignments.
I think he is a cool guy but gets off on tangents about boats and South Park and whatever else is going through his mind at he time. Gonna make a B but I had to really study for this crap. He si a cool guy and I would recommend taking him over the other finance teachers.
Best teacher i've ever had. I recommend him but you will have to study a LOT! But for any finance class that is expected. Allows a cheat card for the test. Curves them a lot too.
I would not suggest taking his class. He did keep me awake at 8:00 because he is so hyper. If you want to learn anything, you have to teach yourself, and finance is not the easiest thing to teach yourself.
Great guy, funny anecdotes. Gets off topic a lot if you can deal with it. Material is hard but he is a good teacher. He will tell you exactly what you need to study for the test.
One of the best professors I ever had! Tells you what to study for test! He'll make you work for your grades, but you will learn A LOT! Got an A! If you're a finance major, take him if you can! Fin 330 AND 336 are a joke for me this semester because of everything I learned from Graham in 335!
If you are a finance major and you can take this guy for 335, DO IT! He taught me more than any professor yet. His test are only a challenge if you don't go to class. There will not be anything on the test not covered in class. No surprises. If you don't understand something all you have to do is ask. He'll explain. Great teacher, great guy!
Coming from an alumni, he stinks. Don't take him because you heard he is cool: he is arrogant and when it really counts, he has taught you nothing. And I am pretty sure he has never caught a fish or maybe even been on a boat.
Graham is great. If you put out hte effort and actually pay attention, you may learn a few things about boats and real estate investment. If you pay attention in this class you will probably make the decisions that can get you lots of boats and Intracost
changed major to finance b/c of him. super smart, very funny, very insightful. doesn't play around and knows his stuff. talks about nonclass stuff all the time. relates finance to real world situations. brings idealistic college students back to the real world
Pretty straight-forward teacher. Tests are not very difficult at all, and the class doesn't require much work. He goes off on very long tangents often, but at least they are funny and interesting. Also, I think that he may be legally insane.
Graham is an interesting professor that I don't think any student who's ever had him will be able to forget. He does get on tangents, but he prepares you with the notes you need to do well on tests. Fair professor, love him or hate him.
Graham is a great teacher. Really knows what he's talking about. Makes everything very clear and easy to understand. I changed my major to finance because of this class. Definatly take him for this class. Study and you'll do well.
Definitely insane, injects himself with coffee every morning. Had him at 8:00am and had no problem because he is full of energy. Great professor, gives you practice problems for tests, funny, and did I say he injects himself with coffee?
Ed Graham's the man...I loved the class even though it was at 8am. His tests aren't too bad and his test reviews really help. He is a little akward and says things like "I have tenure and the only thing that can keep me from getting fired is being caught with a live boy or a dead girl." I would highly recommend him cuz finance....is.....good
This is the most entertaining and fun class I have ever taken. I had him at 8:00, and I never came close to falling asleep in his class. He has a great sense of humor and has fun with the class while he teaches. He really knows his stuff too. Definitely recommend him to everyone. My favorite teacher at UNCW so far, and by far!
Ed Graham is by far the best Finance professor I have ever encountered. Even though the class was @ 8AM, I didn't find it hard to go or stay awake. Class is a little tough, but don't miss a class...you'll probably regret it. Don't be intimidated at first, he's a really nice guy once you get to know him.
A little tough on his students.... knows his stuff. Pay attention in class, DO THE PRACTICE EXAMS!
Hands down the most amazing teacher I have had in my life. He's brilliant, outgoing and has a true passion for life. I hated finance before his class and now I'm hoping to make a career out of it. Being a night owl, I never thought a teacher of an 8am class would change my life as much as he did. Finance....is....good.
Worst professor I've ever had. Spent the entire class talking about how rich he is, about how poor people are bad decision-makers who shouldn't be allowed to vote, and his yacht. Don't expect to be taught any finance.
Everything he says went over my head but I think It's because I'm not a numbers person. I only survived with B's because I had a friends exams who had the class prior. He is unpredictable, he will give you an exam that we've seen then the next one will be foreign. Be prepared, get a study buddy, and pay attention on review days!
Loved this class! I am actually considering changing my major to finance because of him. He can be arrogant at times, but you will defintly learn a lot. I took it at 8 am and I was more awake than in any of my other classes. He is very entertaining and he knows finance. Finance is good!
Talks very fast and can be hard to keep up with. His practice tests are very similar to real test.
My first rating of a professor, and I am happy to say, the most deserving of a rating. Fantastic FIN professor, and the reason I am a finance major. Difficult course, yet, you will learn a ton of corporate FIN information. Take Graham! And: Finance is GOOD!
LOVE LOVE LOVE HIM!!!!! He says that it is not very hard to make a B in his class, but for an A you have to be excellent. I learned so much from him. Test are pretty hard so you def have to put forth alot of effort. He give no freebbies.
BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD!! He makes his class very interesting, so it is easy to pay attention. I loved going to his class. He is also always available if you need help out side of class. All around great guy, he truly cares about his students.
Dr. Graham's class made me a finance major. Great teacher, sets you up to do well. take this class
Great Professor- Made me a finance major. Study what he tells you to, and go to class and you will do fine. Have had him for 335,431 and 438. Truly cares about his students. take this professor!
Ed Graham is absolutely brilliant. He is a caring person and a great professor. You WILL learn a lot from his class that is useful for the real world. He is always willing to help. I'd be lying if I said his class was not difficult, but it is 100% worth it. I hope to take him again at UNCW. He is so knowledgeable and keeps class interesting.
Great professor! He loves himself and tells hilarious stories all the time, but teaches you a lot and gives you real world experiences. He is a rich guy though and will let you know that ALL THE TIME! Really fun class and great professor! Take him if you can!
He is an extremely knowledgeable and funny guy. The class is hard but he sets you up to do well. I got an A but it was a lot of studying. The lectures are hilarious though I highly recommend him it was a fun class.
In class I honestly learned nothing except how rich and funny he is. Definitely a great guy and very smart but I learned the most finance doing the practice problems before the exams. I studied the crap out of every practice problem before the exam, and many were word for word on it or changed slightly. NOT an easy A, but worth it!
I would absolutely recommend taking Graham for 335. He is a great, hilarious guy. His class is definitely a challenge, but you will learn a lot.
Talked mostly about real estate not bank managment. Nice enough guy. Tests were straight from study guides.
This was the most difficult class I've taken at UNCW. The first day of class you're basically told that you will work hard for whatever grade you get. That is definitely the truth. You will work your tail off for a C or B. Good luck if you're trying to get an A. Subscribe to the WSJ and talk to him about current world issues...He'll love it!
Great guy, will tell you from the start that his class is challenging. His lectures are interesting and going to class is a must to succeed. Would definitely recommend him for FIN335.
This guy does enough to introduce you to the topic but you really do most of your learning and preparations for exams by doing homework, chapter practice questions and practice exams he has. you learn by doing as you do in math and programming and that is how it is. he does narrow down your studies.
Very helpful and funny teacher. The first professor I have ever written a review about.
Great Professor, he does a great job of keeping you interested and does a good job of letting you know what is on the test. Hard class but he gives you everything you need to do well.
Hilarious! Tough class, but he is a great professor.
I loved his class! He knows that this course is difficult, so if you come to class, do the homework and do your best on the tests you will pass with at least a C-
Utilize his online materials to make a good grade. You definitely have to work for the grade you get. I found reading the chapters to be very important for actually understanding the material. Using a TI calculator is possible and makes the class a little easier. Google how to use that calculator.
His class can be difficult because he spends the entire time making horribly rude and sometimes offensive jokes. He tells the oddest stories that may or may not be true. Don't expect to learn anything in class. It is very "teach yourself".
In order to get an A/B you will have to put in work. He doesn't teach during class, instead he makes (offensive) jokes or talks about wall street. I had to teach myself most of the material (it is not difficult material). He has a website with practice exams and if you use those then you should be fine (exam questions come from the practice exams)
Great Professor! Don't listen to the people who say he makes "offensive" jokes... they are far from offensive and he makes class enjoyable. He definitely teaches during class but you have to PAY ATTENTION and do the homework he assigns. He's a funny guy but you have to put in work to get an A. If you're a math person, you'll love the way he teaches
Dr Graham has some interesting personal stories and he really wants his students to do well.
Finance is kinda boring, but Dr. Graham's class is entertaining because he has some interesting stories and perspectives. I ended up self-teaching myself a lot of the material because I couldn't keep up with his pace in class, but he is very accessible outside of class and will walk you through a problem if you just email him! great guy.
Funny teacher and cares a lot about his students. Has donut celebration and test review before first test. Three test and final is the majority of grade. Allowed a one page cheat sheet for final. Homework collected on occasion, but is useful since most of the homework questions and practice test are on the real test.
Class materials were interesting but he has misogynistic tenancies. Just laugh at his jokes and listen to his self-serving stories, and you should be able to make a decent grade.
Three tests for the semester that are most of your grade. Tests come from the homework/practice exams just different #'s. He is a nice guy and will go off on random talks that are interesting but that "will not be on exam" He quickly goes through the subjects and you won't pass unless you teach yourself. He will curve if the whole class does badly.
Took 335 and 431 with him. Favorite professor at UNCW by a long shot. He's there to see you succeed both in and outside of class. Knows exactly what he's talking about and has plenty of experience to share. Very genuine guy, lots of awkward jokes and long conversations about yachts. Occasional field trips and donuts may be included.
Probably Cameron's best teacher. Knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and interesting. FIN 431 is a great class, also recommend him for 335. Although Graham clearly does well in the real estate community, UNCW does not pay this guy enough. Take him if you have the chance, unless you are opposed to learning.
This teacher is so funny. If you participate and make a study group and actually study each week. You will pass the class. Print off everything from his website after the first day of class because I made a binder and brought it to class and it saved my life for the final. Keep everything he gives back because you will need it for the final.
Awesome and funny guy, but not a great professor. If you take him for FIN335, it will mostly be self-taught. The good news about his exams, most of the questions come from the practice exams, just different numbers. And he provides a cheat sheet on the exams. Get ready to teach yourself the material if you want an A.
Hes always in a good mood and tries his best to motivate his students through the tough material he teaches. He sets you up with everything you need to get an A and you will if you just listen to him
A really nice guy, but going to his class is not necessary. Not sure how you're supposed to study for this class. The textbook is not needed. He talks a lot about current events but does not really go over class material.
Motivating and funny professor. Tests were hard. Group project was easy. There are no homework grades so it is graded by a few things. Goes on a lot of tangents.
Probably the coolest teacher I have had at UNCW, he cares about his students and wants them to do well. Lectures arent bad and we tells us stories from his life that correlates to what we are learning. We had 2 exams, and a really cool group project for this class
Professor Graham is one of those professors who make you glad that you decided to go to UNCW. He is one of the kindest, funniest instructors I have ever had. You are graded out of 3 of your best 4 tests (final optional), 3 homework assignments that are not worth many points, and attendance. Graham is intelligent, caring, and ultimately hilarious.
Such a funny dude. Curves the exams if the class does bad. Curved all 3 of our exams so I did just fine.
Dr. Graham is a wonderful person and professor. Definitely recommend this him. His tests were not too easy but if you study, you will do fine. He also allows cheat sheets for the exams which help a lot!
Such a kind soul. He is one of the funniest people I have ever met and treats his classroom like one big group discussion. It is rare to see that in college! He provides ample resources to help prepare you for exams. If you go to class and pay attention, not only will you have a good time, you'll be able to end with a good grade.
Absolute gem. I cannot stress enough how great of a professor Graham is. If you are at all interested in investment real estate, take this course. He fosters a positive learning environment and his positivity and passion for the field radiate through his lectures. He cares about his students, and wants them to LEARN not just get a good grade.
Dr. Graham is a very nice, friendly, and funny guy, but he is just not a great teacher. He provides good study tools for the exams which is super helpful but his lectures are all over the place and it is hard to learn anything in the classroom. If you use the study tools you'll be fine, but fully plan on teaching yourself everything on your own.
While he is a nice guy, he is not at all a good professor. You have to teach yourself everything. He talks about everything but finance. According to syllabus , grade is made up of 90% exams and 10% "attendance, attitude, and attire." He doesn't even take attendance. I spent hours doing his first homework assignment and he didn't even take it up.
Had to drop his class because his lesson's were useless in terms of actual teaching. Spoke way too fast and taught in a way that was different than the textbook, made teaching myself the material much more difficult. He's a nice guy, but he can be hard to learn from and I wouldn't recommend having him as your FIN-335 teacher
Easy going professor, learned a lot from his lecture regarding real estate. If you go to class you will get a good grade.
Spends more time telling stories and anecdotes than teaching. He does not use a canvas page or any form of feedback where students can access their grades and have averages updated. Expect to have to calculate that yourself. Tests were impossibly hard with questions being pulled from thin air at random. Would not reccomend taking him for FIN 431.
very funny. just use the study guide. He is extremely smart and a good teacher. ask for help and he will help. only grades are 3 tests with an optional final. he also made his own course packet with answers. you pay $15 and get $10 back at the end of the semester. use the study guides he gives you and you will do good.
He is very fair when it comes to grades. He does not check HW so your grade comes down to attendance (he takes randomly) and exams. As long as you study his study guide you will pass. He talks about boats a lot and I think he's close to retiring anyways so he isn't looking to have to fail people at this point. I surprised myself with how well I did
Mr. Graham is a super funny guy with great stories that keep the class engaged. He clearly cares about his students and wants everyone to actually learn the material. The class wasn't exactly easy, but it also wasn't too hard.
I took FIN 355 with Dr. Graham, he provides more than enough information, almost too much needed for the relatively easy exams. My only complaint is any time I would email him I would receive a very snarky and almost demeaning response that doesn't even answer the question asked. I can tell he cares for the students success, but this was my issue.
I taught myself everything in this class. I would not recommend online at all. He posted a very confusing schedule at the beginning of the semester with textbook readings and problems. His lectures did not relate to the tests very much. Your grade is made entirely up of your three best test grades.
