Not a very generous marker.. be prepared for .1 mark increments. However, he does know his material very well and explains it quite well.
Tends to be unsympathetic to the people who conflict with him, but he knows his marketing stuff.
Ed is an too into himself, he displays a lack of respect toward the students, by yelling at them in class, and avoids logical questions that are asked by the students. Classes are too expensive to waste on a teacher like him!
He was one of my worst business teachers, his exams were quite difficult, and it felt like he tested on things that were not gone over in class, he is very unacommidating
Hard teacher, strict, assignments were very unclear half the class did the wrong assignment almost every week. Favors international students.

His way or the highway. Don't try to have your own opinion. Agree with him, nod you head a lot (and try not to let it be while falling asleep). His marks are harsh, but if you speak up INTELLIGENTLY in class, don't worry... your final mark will be up.

He's very ignorant. Avoid him at all cost! He makes fun of poeples examples. He brags about his experiance as a CEO, and lets the class know that he's much to smart for the students... He corrects grammar and gives marks like 2.1/3. What is 2.1?
he does tend to pursue making students feel bad about what they think. Not easy to talk to. You can say goodmorning and he won't even flinch let alone respond - - - arogant? Whatever you do don't argue with him it will get you nothing

I was suggested by my advisor to drop his course, and most of his students said that he is a terrible guy. I met him for a time, he don't looked so friendly and knowledgeable, so I made up my mind not to take his courses.

I took all his courses and got no complaints. It's easy to do well with him; just listen, think, and put in your best effort.

Never listens to what is actually being said, if it isn't what he wants to hear. Just runs right over you, your wrong. Assumes his students are idiots as he says the course is too advanced. "You don't understand. IT's so easy, you won't pass then.&

Answers email very promptly. My advice- expect a tough but fair instructor.

Excellent mentor. Ensure that you understand Ed's style and expectations and meet them to do well. He expects maturity and good effort. Very fair in grading. Ed Li rocks!!! Anyone who thinks differently is likely just a slacker, free-rider.

I loved him, a great guy, emulate him to be successful. Very professional, sincere, and good hearted! Test questions are straight off the powerpoint.

Absolutely the worse prof I have ever had. If you can avoid taking classes with this guy I hightly recommend doing so. He plays favorites and marks with some weird standards (ie. it's normal to get 0.2/1 on a question).
He marks very fairly; if you deserve 0.2 out of 1 he will give you exactly that. He does pay more attention to those who pay attention to him. Is there something wrong with that?
Very unprofessional in teaching and style, he trys to itimidate you with his ego, his notes straight out of the text, talks about working at J&J, why didnt you stay there if you were successful. Avoid him at all costs..makes you wait oustide if your late..what a real sore loser..4 P's suck.....

We must have had his evil twin for the lower level business classes! He was completely different! I hated the guy, I'm still not a big fan, but once you get to this class, he'll treat you more like an actual person! Much better with the higher level business students for some reason! Boring though!!

Fun class with lots to learn. I agree with earlier comment that too many "less than stellar" students are often in his class(es). Stay off the courses he teaches if you're only prepared to go through the motions. You will fail, not only with him, but in life!!
Initially I felt that he was a great teacher but once our first assignment was given to us I realized that this was not so. On top of giving really unclear directions and marking very annoyingly, for lack of a better word(eg 1.13 out of 2). He is very stubborn and next to impossible to reason with.
Just knowing the subject matter doesn't make a great teacher. A GOOD teacher must also inspire students and encourage them. It's an introductory class! Ed just can't grasp this concept. He prides himself on how difficult he grades. He enjoys psyching you out by telling you this. He hardly explains the assignments and then gives near-failing grades.
Mr. Ego? When he’s not recommending students drop the course, he’s bragging that his 14-year-old kid gets straight A’s in JUNIOR HIGH! He’ll read your homework out loud to the class and say how bad it is. Oh, and you’ll rarely see a grade like 1/1. IF for some reason he actual likes your answer, you’ll get 0.8/1! I was stoked, now I HATE marketing.

Be mature, (try to) listen and speak up in class. As far as the "2.1/3" its just 70%, its not that hard to figure out, the guy is just likely quick with math and has a feel for what you deserve on anassignment. I too thought the marking system was weird, but i always got the mark I deserved.

I thought Ed was hilarious - he often wears these leather pants and makes really silly jokes. I thought his marking system was a bit weird and he was a really hard marker and his comments were difficult to understand/agree with but overall I didnt mind him he's entertaining at least keeps you awake in class

Not a very good teacher...I'm an A student and I was far above average in his class, so I'm not one of those "idiots who shouldn't be in university." I feel Li shouldn't be teaching. He doesn't care about the students, is difficult to understand, and doesn't have any criteria to back up the marks he gives (the last one he openly admitted to).
Abosolutley awful! Doesn't teach anything and expects the assignments and tests to be beyond the intellect of the textbook. He is obviously full of himself and grades everybody on different standards. Avoid him at all costs unless you like arrogance combined with ignorance.

Absolutely horrible prof! Expectations are VERY unclear which lead to marks like 3.74/8 even if you're a "A" student. Marking is very biased. Gives a outline for the case studies and projects but doesn't seem to take it into account when marking. STAY AWAY if you want to do well!
Horrible prof.! Avoid this egocentric maniac. All he does is brag about his 1992 porsche and his past achievements, which aren't even that great. Biggest waste of money and time! If you want to do good in marketing i highly recommend a different prof. Ed will make you hate marketing. Ed needs to retire and sit at home in his old porsche and ROT.
Strict, but fair> I always get what I deserve from him. I take his Marketing class to learn and I have done just that. Not very often you get business professors who have worked in the real world and Ed spent more than two decades there. I take advantage of his office hours to discuss assignments so I got to know this guy a bit. He loves to travel

Really boring class. Hard marker and not good at teaching the material.
After reading about Ed, I was really nervous to take his class, but he wasn't that bad. He is a REALLY tough marker, and definitely has favorites. I didn't like his mini assignments, but his tests weren't that bad. Hard marker but he knows his stuff, and is always willing to help if you show some interest in his class. Don't take for an easy pass.
As long as you study for the midterm and finals based on the textbook

Hard marker, but everything is out of the textbook, he can crack a joke or two, but it doesn't make up for the fact that his teaching method still bores you to death.
I've had Ed twice. He's really not a bad teacher. Yes, he's a hard ass and likes things his way, but he really knows his stuff, his notes are clear, and his tests are fair. Not a good class to slack off in. He isn't very objective, shows if he doesn't like someone. If you try hard and are polite you'll be fine.
Great professor, he had a way of making a extremely boring topic sound interesting, incorporates a lot personal experience. All tests were straight fro the PowerPoints covered in class. If you attend and pay attention you can do well. Does want things done his way... but doesn't every teacher? Hard marker ... but fair .. I would take him again
i dont know what everyone is talking about. ya sure, you deffinely have to be on your game, go to class,pay attention, cuz the deductions are so dramatic (such as 20% off for a missing peer evaluation)seriously!? but he's so nice, and made class interesting by making it more personal. tests are fair, and i found them easy. all multiple choice.fair.
I have no clue why people don't like ed. His class is easy, he is a slightly harder marker than most teachers but still extremely fair. He has an amazing life story. Super knowledgeable in his field and very friendly. I am a super shy student so you would think I would hate a sales class but ed made it really fun.
