He is a cool teacher !
Great teacher! Explains each chemical reaction well and answers your questions if you ask him. He teaches really well and that helps because it makes you understand it. Of course, chem is not easy to begin with, but do the homework, study his lecture notes, and study hard, then you should be fine.
i swear that the professor's comment below lol-he will not answer questions about labs-he will answer with a question! but awesome teacher; will take time to answer problems in the book;very clear notes; don't miss class or u will get behind; lets u drop a grade and 2 in lab; tests are long and tough but very fair; highly recommend; cool guy
Besides the fact that he's so adorable, he's a VERY good teacher. His teachings are clear and easy to follow. Anytime I get an "A" in class then the teacher MUST be a gem! Way to go Ed!!

Yo, don't be rippin on my man and his delicious crunchy munchkins and bavaraian schwonsenstickel donuts!
Wow! One of the best and fun professors ever!Clarity and helpfulness guaranteed! Very cool! Will help you with any problems! Took his class for Spring chem 122 lab, I wish I would take his class also! M...
His notes r greaaaaaaat. However his exams are verrrry tricky and hard. If you have questions or need help. He is always there for you. His labs are also good. I had him for 121. I learn those things that i did not even learn in chem 110. He is a good teacher and he lovvvves to teach chem thats what makes him good. He is always a happy teacher.
Great teacher, down to earth AND goodlooking...it all helps in getting your "A" for the semester!
I LOVE HIM!!!!!!
Professor Ed was the first teacher I had at CCP where I didn't have to teach myself anything! A teacher who actually teaches!
When you take an exam, mark all the tough questions. When you're done go back and ignore all the checks. Worry about anything thats easy. He loves his trick questions.
He is an excellent teacher! He does everything step by step. Sometimes its repetitive, but that's how you remember to do the problems. His test are not that hard, but you MUST double check before turning it in. It wasn't multiple choice so you better know how to do the problems! I would definitely recommend him for Chem 122.
He is kind of perfect professor... he doesnt care if u want to be absent.....he drop one exam but does not give any makeup exam....teaching is very good.
Great teacher. Explains topics well, and offers problems in class to help ensure understanding. Will work with you to ensure comprehension. Great teacher!!!
I had him for CHEM121 as well. I liked him a lot, I thought the class was awesome because attendance wasn't mandatory, there were only 4 tests (one of which he dropped!) and a small lab grade. His tests are usually math heavy and short (6-12 Q's) so sometimes it's hit or miss if you don't study/attend class. Overall great (:
he is the best professor.he explain clearly.he do problems in class .and his test are not easy but ohh well he go true everything so anybody can get a good gread
i took professor Ed for chem 121, 122, 221, and am ganna take him for 222, I swear he made my life so much easier and made me love chemistry.. his kindess and calrity were just few of all his qualities.. he is so humble and willing to help..he just makes ur life happier that u wont have to stress for his class at all.. I really recommend him..
I had him for chem 121 and 122... he's great! Love that attendance isn't mandatory. Easy A if you do the problems he suggests at the beginning of the semester. His class is concise and great for knowing actually practical info you'll need for standardized tests and stuff (:
he's okay. his lab was easy. it seems like the more you write in your lab report the more points he takes off. but i heard he was a very good lecture professor.
Awesome teacher and does a good job at teaching the rather difficult material. Grading is fair, exams are pretty straight forward but challenging. Is very organized and uses class time very well and leaves room to answer questions and clarify. Overall a perfect professor and CCP could really use more professors of his quality.
he is "CRYSTAL CLEAR" about his syllabus and grade policy, he makes chemistry interesting, attendance isn't mandatory, class notes are extremely helpful you wouldn't need to read book, exams aren't easy but fair, i would recommend him
Honestly, Prof Miskiel is the best god damn Chem teacher at CCP. Had him for Orgo and his ability to teach it makes it seem as easy as 1,2,3. To get an A in his class you need to MEMORIZE his notes and PRACTICE the study problems. I would recommend him for ANY class he teaches. Best science professor I've ever had so far. PERIOD.
had Ed for lecture. he is a good teacher. his class is very strict and challenging and he runs it like a gestapo, but dont let that scare you. if you put in the work and pay attention you will do well. but think hard about the hardest possible questions for the test, because those are the ones you will see. id take him again no doubt.
This proffesor is the best. It is not mandatory to attent to class but if you do and take his notes you will be fine in his class. He is very clear and teach very well. He wont give you a hard time, you will love this proffesor. HE IS THE BEST.
You have very little choice at CCP as to what Ochem teacher you want, but out of the three, Miskel is a no-brainer choice. Both lab and lecture this guy is awesome. Very organized and very clear. Has a very low dropout rate, so a lot stick with him to the end of the semester.
This guy is hilarous even though he doesn't mean to be. He always has a wise aleck smirk on his face. He is a good teacher but has a cocky attitude about him that I can't stomach. He is clear and consise but his tests are hard. If you are serious about chemistry take him. If not, avoid him. All formulas must be memorized.
Professor Miskiel was my best chemistry instructor. He made many topics much clearer than the text book and my previous professors. I did not do to well on the final, but that was my own fault. He is the most talented Chem. professor at CCP,hands down! You don't have to be there, but ifyouarenot, you'll miss his original problem solving techniques!
great
His General Chem classes were cake. Just pay attention to the lectures and focus on the math. His Orgo classes were harder though. Be nice, and he'll be nice to you. Extremely helpful, and very easy on the eyes ;)
This professor is so good you only really need the book for homework problems. attendance only really required for the lab and he is soooo hot!
Awesome teacher! Ive NEVER liked chemistry until I joined his class. He is funny (with that slick smile) but serious about the class. Oh and By the way, HE IS HOT!
Mr. Miskiel is the best Chemistry Instructor. He is "Perfect". The way he teach, it's crystal clear and very organize. If you need help, he will help you till the end. I will definitely take his class again. :)
He explains every thing with clarity, but his tests are extremely hard, and he isn't flexible in grading. If you are a science major this class is perfect for you, since you'll learn a lot. However, if you are not, like me, could be very tough. However, he is easy in lab. I don't know how I got an A, but I got it.
Best professor in Chem Dept. I had three classes with him and I enjoyed all. His tests could be tricky sometimes but not only he teaches amazingly well but also expects you to work hard. He's well organized and crystal clear about everything. Science majors must take him, but remember he's not an easy A. Although his labs are easy
Prof. Miskiel has brought my likeness back to chemistry. I had 110 with another Professor and he totally turned me off. Miskiel explains things so much in detail that I understand things a lot better and I actually get it! Wonderful teacher, hopefully I can get him for all of my other chemistry requirements. BEST CHEMISTRY PROFESSOR AT CCP!!!
I have had him for FOUR semesters(121, 122, 221, 222) and he was by far the best professor. His notes are so perfect that you don't need the textbook. I have degree from Temple but I have to say he was my favorite prof. Helpful, interested and keeps your attention. People say his test are tricky but he is only making sure that you understand! Best!
Miskiel has very clear notes, and explains things once in class. But beware if your math skills are rusty. He skips over the math, assuming you understand it. I went to a tutor weekly and still struggled mightily to keep up with the material. Attendance or homework is irrelevant: he only collects 4 grades and those are from his difficult exams.
I wish I could have been in his course this semester as well because he is organized, explains well, answers questions and does a lot of review. Hope to take his class in the future.
He is one of the best professors,I ever had. I love him.I dropped him, but its my fault. Iam not chem lover. But He makes chemistry interesting. I really missed his class. Honestly, If you are bad in chem, take with him. He will make u think more seriously about chem. I love him. His exams are tricky but his lecture is crystal-clear.I respect him
His lectures r very clear but he became a whole different person on test day. No questions ask or 5 pts off lol that's bs. He is just okay.
Great teacher! Intimidating at first, but he's a very laid back dude. Come to class, write down all his notes, & FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. You'll do well if you do that & review the practice problems that he goes over in class. He takes points off if you fail to do so. Took him in the summer & never opened the textbook. Google is all you need. I got an A.
Mr Miskiel is very good chemistry teacher at CCP. Before, I never had chemistry professor like he did for students. I highly recommend that try to take his class if possible.
Hes a very nice person always smiling & likes to joke. However hes very strict when it comes to grading you cant even ask a question during the exam or you lose 5 pts. Organic Chem is not easy, but he seems more interested in tricking students than trying to help. He is the best orgo professor at CCP though. Im usually an A student but I got a C.
Miskiel is an incredible professor. He's clear and concise. Attendance isn't required, neither is homework. However, he is very picky with grading and he'll take points off for minor mistakes. Attend class, ask questions, and do the homework in the book and you should do well. I'd definitely take him again.
Professor Miskiel is a great professor who loves his job and loves teaching. He has little time for unneccessary work and I like that. He does powerpoint so it's easier to follow and he gives you many options to pass his class. I would recommend his class to anyone.
One of the best chemistry professors at CCP!
His lectures are crystal clear but the tests really challenge you to make sure you know your material. Its all in the details and I almost forgot, he loves his cis and trans. Study and do as many problems as you can!
The saving grace of the CCP chem dept. Low-tech lectures but he cuts straight to the core of the topic so it doesn't seem so overwhelming, rare in orgo. Tests are short, not overly tricky but you need to know your stuff. Ultimately wants you to pass, straightforward about what he expects and what you need to know. Still a hard topic but great prof.
Excellent professor. He makes sure you don't get boggled by unnecessary information, and drills in what you need to know. Absolutely hilarious and an all around nice guy. If you close your eyes, you could swear you're getting lectured by Carl Sagan, or Mr. Smith from The Matrix.
Unbearable classroom personality. Ed cannot stop reminding his students about how little interest he has in spending any extra time grading, explaining, helping, teaching. Doesn't respond to emails and doesn't seem to care. He is pompous and it's embarrassing. To his credit, his tests are demanding, but his teaching is uninspiring.
Clear and straight to the point. Leaves out the fluff. Textbook was only opened for personal review of problems before tests. Option to skip final if pleased with first four test scores. Lecture average is determined by highest four test grades. I very much enjoyed his lecture and would take again!
He is a teacher who must have had a poor experience as a student himself seeking remorseful revenge on current students. Lectures start 20 min late & therefore always run over end time. Thinks he is super funny & loves to brag how he is a "popular" teacher. Lectures are very good but they will do you no good come test time. HAPPY IT'S OVER
I am not good at chemistry but I love coming to his class. He is smart, funny, and sooo hot!!
Crystal clear lectures, cuts to core of topics, cares about the material. Hand-written notes which he projects & largely tests from. If you just study his notes and are a good test-taker, you'll get an easy 'B'. If you want the 'A', probs should read the book. He's nice and funny, but tests are no joke (tries to trick you). Unresponsive to email.
I'm taking him now, Idk my grade yet exactly but I'm sure whatever I get I deserve. Ed is great. He's clear, org., helpful, & to the point. He gives you all the tools needed to do well, but chem is hard, so it's on you to put in the studying to get the good grade. &Oh, is he single!? His dorky, enthusiasm is so cute! He's a hot nerd-I'd so date em!
Prof Ed is great in lecture and lab. His exams are strictly from his notes and he completely leaves out all the unnecessary details from the textbook, but he might put some textbook problems on the test. His labs are very straightforward as well. He has a dry, sarcastic sense of humor, but is very likable. Def take him for chemistry if you can.
I took him in 221 & 222 lecture and lab ... he is the best org professor in CCP... study his notes and you will be ready for the tests. I strongly recommend him to any health sciences student, you will not regrit!
Besides the fact that he's so adorable, he's a VERY good teacher. His teachings are clear and easy to follow. He explains everything step by step. If you need help , he is there for you. He made me love the Organic chemistry. Just follow his lecture and study hard. Thanks professor Miskiel.
He explains things very clearly and while his tests are fair the wording on his tests can be tricky. So pay careful attention. He only uses his notes and doesn't post a bunch of boring powerpoint slides, so if you miss his class, you are not going to pass. Also, while he comes off as arrogant, he is good at what he does. Look past it.
Only had him for lab. He'll make sure you're out ASAP 'cause the new CCP lab book is AWFUL. He knows it, we all knew it. He's very sarcastic & funny, makes night time lab with that lab book bearable. This isn't a review of his lecture skills, though I think his explanations are clear. I'd take him for lecture based on what I saw. Bonus:Good lookin'
Constant: Prof. Edhumor+smarts. Prof. Ed is harmless. He IS a great professor. The material is what's hard, and the amount of it that we are required to know. He does everything in his power to put complex concepts in layman's terms, so that anyone can understand and labs are easy. He is arrogant, but it makes for an entertaining class.
He was helpful and understanding. I enjoyed his lectures.
He is very clear in teaching and grading. He doesn't waste his time on things that are unnecessary. Everything taught in class was on the test but PRACTICE the problems. Don't buy the textbook! He has an odd sarcastic charm but he is a cool guy. Don't take anyone else for this class. I actually hate chem but he made me enjoy it.
I only had him for lab, but he's very helpful. His lab reports are straight to the point, he doesn't care for unnecessary work. He likes to get out of lab as fast as he can but won't rush students if they're having trouble..... He can be very funny, but he is definitely VERY CUTE (in a nerdy way) I'd totally have him as a professor again. Easy A!
Amazing teacher. Funny. Lectures are very well planed and easy to understand. If you do well on his tests, he doesn't care if you show up. Easy A in lab. No report if you;re done by a certain time. He treats students like adults. If you pay attention in class, you can't fail.
He is amazing professor! Very well organized and clear. I definetely take his class again. Highly recommanded professor.
Amazing teacher. He makes learning chemistry fun.
Ed is a wonderful teacher. He really makes sure you understand the material, is very organized and teaches in a very clear way. Even with difficult topics that frightened at first, I felt assured that he would get me to an understanding. Not easy, his tests are difficult but work for it, go to class and study and you'll do well. no book needed
He doesn't get annoyed when you ask questions and he's a very nice teacher overall.
he does not give homework but make sure you use it to practice and he seems really sweet and caring . However , you must study to do well . Good luck!
I've taken him for 110 as well. Professor does not give (required) homework and only assigns 4 tests(excluding the final). His notes and lectures are extremely organized and easy to understand. He listens and answers questions. Learning Chemistry from him made me understand and enjoy the subject. Attend class, study well and practice!
I want to start off by saying he is great at explaining EVERYTHING. That being said, I took Miskiel during the first summer session. Everything was very condensed into the 7 weeks. It was a lot to handle with a test almost every week, and being graded off of only 4 tests. Lets you drop one test or the final. Be careful with significant figures!
I Love his sarcasm
Profesor Miskiel, is a good profesor. I had him for Chem 122, and Chem 221. His teaching style is awesome he makes the difficult concepts easier to understand. Initially, i was hesitant about chemistry class but after i took it with prof miskiel i feel in love with chemistry. He gives us excellent notes very easy to follow. Do the homework problems
I think hes ok for Chem121, but I wouldn't recommend for 122. In general, his tests are really hard, its like they're designed to fail students. The problems on a test are even harder than those you do in class. He does lecture, but it's all a bit too fast. Most of the class was relying on tutoring and online lectures.
It is impossible to get anywhere in his class depending on lectures. Lots of tutoring and online help is the only way you could get a passing grade. There is a very high chance that things could go wrong with his tests too. Do not recommend.
Danger. Please refrain from taking this professor. He is awful . I thought the professors were there to help students pass the class, but this one right here can actually help you to fail the class. I passed this class because I had to find a tutor outside of his class.
Took Prof. Miskiel for Chem 122 Lab, one of the best professors I've had. Shortens the lab, gives clear instructions on what he wants on the lab reports & does not want more than he has requested. Easy A, outgoing professor. Wish I had him for lecture too. Cares for his students and is willing to help if you are struggling. Thanks Professor Miskiel
This professor loves to explain how he doesn't like putting in the extra effort for anything like homework. In labs he isn't helpful AT ALL and will just sit in his chair. He is extremely unprofessional, he talks about his own student with other students. He doesn't have the greatest personality and is extremely arrogant. Class lessons are normal.
This Professor was Great. I took Chem222 in Summer 2019. I took Chem221 3 years ago and feared I was going to fail this course because I could not remember Chem221. However, if you attend every lecture (which is not mandatory), but recommended and write out not only his notes but the examples he gives, create index cards & do homework. Easy A
Great Professor, he is very clear in his lectures and is very organized. I had him for Chem 110 and I was shook about taking chemistry but he made the subject understandable and relatable and gives you clear ways to understand the work. Follow his notes and examples, LISTEN TO what he says in lecture. I wish I was able to take him again!
he makes it seem like he's going to be an easy teacher and is there for help but its a LIE. he never responds to your emails, ignores them all unless you find him on campus. don't ask him for help on you labs because he will make u think u did the right work and still mark you wrong when you turn it in. he's arrogant. its a NO for me.
Solid intro to chemistry class. Class was fairly easy. Bought the textbook but ended up not needing. Couldve done a little better when classes went online due to COVID, but that was unexpected so I wont judge that harshly. Overall, Id recommend taking his class.
Not accessible outside class!! Not available during office hours. Puts in minimal effort to help students
Orgo 1 is gonna be challenging regardless of who you take it with but prof. Miskiel def makes the experience easier/more enjoyable. The syllabus is crystal clear explaining everything: lecture/lab topics, exam/lab due dates, zoom lecture dates (non-mandatory). Plus if you do well on first 4 exams you dont have to take the final! Highly recommend!!
Uses same notes semester after semester and that's literally what he teaches.. word for word. Doesn't explain anything, quite lazy. Really not worth going to class. He is pretty smug, he acts like he cares but really he doesn't especially in lab. He will falsely tell you, you are right after asking for help then mark you wrong. Two faced much!
I took Ed Miskiel for Organic Chemistry 1 in Summer 2021. I was super nervous about taking Ochem bc I've heard how hard it is and it was online but Ed made the material digestible and manageable. You are graded on few things but it is organized and laid out for you so you are never confused about what your grade is. Highly recommend!!
Take him. You won't regret it.
Listed office hours on syllabus but when I knocked on his door he pretended not to be there three occasions. I waited bc I heard someone in the room and it took a solid 5 minutes for him to open his door. NOT ACCESSIBLE OUTSIDE OF CLASS!! I wished he made himself available during his office hours
Amazing lectures with very clear power points. He is organized and creative with all his lectures, manageable to retain and always available for questions. He has clear grading, all exams are in his power points. I would highly recommend, TAKE HIM!
Organic chemistry is like pulling teeth. Professor Miskiel is like Novocain. This class is difficult but he makes it very manageable and digestible.
I only had him for the lab portion of CHEM 110 but he was great. As long as you follow the directions for the labs then you should do perfectly fine in this class. You must show up to class, if you miss two classes then you automatically fail no matter how well you've done on your labs. If you ask him for clarification he will help you.
Super straightforward. Exams are open note and attendance isn't mandatory which is SO NICE but you should still pay attention to lectures (he posts them online and he's really thorough). Super chill guy. Exams are only 25 questions and there are no other assignments to boost your grade so it's still a pain but I think the tradeoff is worth it
Professor Ed made this experience enjoyable. I highly recommend him for intro to chem summer lab. Counselors will discourage you from taking this course but if you can prioritize your time it goes by quick itll
