I'll get straight to the point. Parker is a genius, He knows everything there is to know about math to an extent, and is brilliant. However, he is absolutely horrible at teaching a lower level calc class. He has a system and refuses to recognize the own textbook formulas and pattern matching as he likes to call it as he assigned.

Dr Parker is a great man and teacher. Math majors owe it to themselves to take one of his courses. He teaches you critical thinking and problem solving skills that serve you for a lifetime. His abstract algebra class is one of the best classes I ever had, and inspired me to become a high school math teacher. Not easy, but highly recommended.

I should have listened to all these other ratings before taking him. You will not learn calculus. You will be completely unprepared for any class or test thereafter (i.e. MCAT). Do not take this class if you are serious about learning something useful.

omg. alli have to say is that this class is completely useless for anyone who actually wants to learn anything. he makes all of his "mathematics" up. total waste of time .. i was more stressed about this class than my econ class and this is supposed to be to teach elem school kids!!! DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOTTTTT TAKE THIS CLASS.

Professor Parker has his own way of teaching. I understood it, but most people hated him. He makes you think outside of the box and never uses the textbook. He tries to broaden your views and make sure that you are ready to teach your future students. He always focuses on bridging the gap from english and math.Overall he's not a bad teacher--differnt

WORST PROFESSOR OF MY LIFE. I loved math until i got to this class. he makes up his mathematics. I couldn't find the theories he used anywhere in the book or online. this class is ridiculous. I have never hated math as much as i did this semester. I noramlly get an A or B and now i am hoping for at least a D. DO NOT DO NOT take him.

You definitely learn a different type of math since he is all about logic. It is impossible to understand what he is trying to teach. I would suggest not taking him, although he is a nice man.

You definitely learn something different with Professor Parker. He truly cares about his students, however, the way he teaches is literally impossible to understand. Love the man as a person, but I would not take him for your math class.

Do not take this class. Nicest man in the world but doesn't teach you a thing you need to know. Nobody can help you thru the class and all you can hope for is a C or D. It will screw you over for Math 108 and 207. DO NOT TAKE IT. RUN.

this. class. is. AWESOME. i hated math and he convinced me to become a math major. he doesn't use a book and his methods are different, but in terms of pure mathematics, it's the best you can get. the people below who were 'good at math' clearly weren't if they didnt do well. if you want an easy A, steer clear, but take if you truly love math.

Dr. Parker is all about breaking problems down into their simplest, logic-based components. Courses with a lot of proof work like 245 are perfect for a professor like him. If you just want to be capable of carrying out mathematical functions, go elsewhere, but if you want to understand it, Parker's your man.

Parker is a really good professor that will enable anyone to learn mathematics. If you have a positive attitude towards learning math you will greatly benefit from his class. He is crystal clear in explaining concepts. If you are unable to excel in his class then you arn't trying or don't care. I recommend him 100%.

He is really nice so its hard not to like him BUT... He doesn't speak in English he speaks in Ed-talk. Its funny that someone who emphasizes clarity so much is so unintelligible. I really wish I had been able to get into Gary Peterson's 237 class. If you take a class with Ed you must immerse yourself into his world or else your doomed.

Dr. Parker is excellent. He gives you some axioms and gives you problems. You come up with a proof. Several times I went to his office because I was stuck on a problem: he always responded with a question. His questions allowed me to gain further insight of my argument and helped me finish the proof. There is no better way to learn math.

I'm a math major and could not understand a word Parker said. Nice man, but invents his own definitions and complicates basic calculus. Disagrees with the standard definitions of limits, infinity, (x,y) coordinates, etc. All tests graded differently per student, and questions assigned random point values. Avoid at all costs.

Ed Parker has his own math language and definitions. He believes that the writers of the textbook were wrong and that his language is more fitting. This means you can not refer to the book for help. Say NO if you are considering him as your next teacher. Tests are usually written in a language that looks chinese and his grading is not much better.

Dr. Parker has received poor ratings by people who don't have the patience to work with him since he doesn't teach through a textbook like most professors. But you learn a lot if you engage during class time. I'd recommend him especially if you're a future teacher. He's super wise. It's a different experience worth having. Gives extra credit.

He is nothing like any other professor. If you have a mathematical mind then this is a "fun" course. The language used in class and on tests is something you just have to get used to--it's the kind of thing where you go through the motions and just make it work for yourself. Parker makes his classes an experience, not cut and dry.

He's a nice guy who can't teach. Teaches calc 1 in a why that makes it hard to go into calc 2, like going from French 1 to Spanish 2. He teaches things differently than the book so you can't give yourself help. I went to the learning center and could not get help because he teaches so weird. I DO NOT recommend.
