Something about squirrels dude, he loves them...Well, it's more of an obsession really. Tough class at times, but INCREDIBLY helpful and clear teacher...If you have to take science, take Stermer, he's comptetent, helpful, and HILARIOUS!!!

Great teacher. If all my teachers were like him, I would be getting straight A's, no problem. The class is not easy but he makes it so fun and interesting you can't help but learn at the same time. Loves squirrels.

I have recommended this prof to countless people. He is the best teacher I have had. Hillarious, knowledgeable, all around great guy. You'll love this class and you'll have a greater respect for rocks and squirrells by the end!!

Had him for lab too.....Great teacher, probably the BEST at ICC. Funny, draws his lectures, so you can't go wrong if you are a visual person. Easy to learn from, and you remember lessons well after it's over because he's awesome. A definite yes!

Easy to follow lecture, insanely easy homework once weekly. Gives good chapter guides that will result in good test scores if you study. Weekly online quiz with random questions over book are somewhat unpredictable and same for book portion of test. Can easily get a good grade if you attend class

Wonderful professor! Stermer was hilarious! He helped make class fun and interesting. I always looked forward to seeing what would happen in class next. I loved the class and would definately take another from him. And let's not forget the squirrels...

hes great. he doesnt make the class extremely easy by any means but hes so fun. he makes you feel cared about. he loves to joke around with you. makes class fun.

great guy, I learned ALOT, fair teacher, I didn't like the end of the semester skits but it wasn't hard, you can tell he takes his subject VERY seriously, which speaks highly of him. His squirrel obsession is a little weird, maybe he thinks it makes the class fun, I found it annoying.

Don't be deceived by his good looks and charm. The class is a bit challenging. If you're in his class... be prepared to do WORK. - takes advantage of the multimedia center in the classroom. Does NOTES, powerpoint, videos, overheads, graphs & charts., handouts, and even experiments. A lof of WORK!

Great teacher, fun and entertaining!

He is a wonderful teacher. He made the class easier than it probably would have been if he wasn't the teacher. His obsession with squirrels and the skit at the end made the class fun! If you are taking easc 111 take his class!

I love him as teacher. He is so nerdy and has the stupidest jokes which really make the class fun. I never really wnated to take Earth Science, but now it is my favorite class. It is hard but you have to pay attention and go to class.

If you're prepared to work hard, you can get a good grade and learn a lot. Stermer is a great teacher, but this is not an easy class.

I had another prof. for the first 1/2 of the class and I was barely getting a D. She went on maternity and Stermer took over. Whew! Much better & nicer teacher!

Has to be the best teacher I've ever had. His squirrel obsession is hilarious. The class in general can be difficult but he is very clear and explains it well so it makes it a lot of fun. Homework was easy and tests weren't that bad. Just study and you'll do fine!

Stermer is passionate about the subject, and his passion is contagious. His lectures are engaging and hilarious. He also gives plenty of extra credit opportunities to help boost your grade. Hands down, the best professor I've had at ICC.

Mr. Stermer is a gag...he makes earth science interesting and his obsession with squirrels is so funny! he's also very helpful and easy to approach...doesn't make you feel stupid like some instructors

This class is not easy at all but Mr. Stermer is very clear and helpful with questions and in his lectures. Weekly homework and quizes are very helpful in this class to boost the grades! Very nice and funny guy I would HIGHLY reccomend Mr. Stermer for a class!!!:)

Mr. Stermer is a really funny guy and a caring teacher. He made an uninteresting class great. He is so full of information about the world. I have learned so much. If you have to take any science classes get him. Kinda a lot of work, but you'll learn so much!

Hard but fun. Learned so much about Geology that I even bore myself!! Stermer makes the class. Watch out for those online exams- study the last 10 pgs of each chapter and watch the DVD thingy. Have fun and tease him back- he can take it.

He was a great teacher! I have never had much interest in Science untill I took his class. I am an EDU major and am minoring in science now only because he made me enjoy it so much. He was one of the best teachers I have ever had.

definitely the best teacher i have ever had at icc. i wish i could take him for another course. it's not an easy class but if you work somewhat hard, you'll do fine. plus, he's willing to help. he's very good at keeping your attention and likes to joke around with you. HE'S A FREAKIN STUD.

I would take earth sciences class all day if I could have Prof. Stermer for them. He is great and by far the funniest teacher I have ever had. He makes it enjoyable and interesting! Now this isnt the easiest class, but if you fill in his study guides he posts online and study, it's an easy A.

When I first signed up for this class I was expecting to be bored out of my mind. I've never been good at science.I had no idea how much fun it was going to be. Yeah it's challenging, but Stermer is so passionate about the subject it rubs off on you. The class is so much fun even though I passed it I'd take it over again every semester if I could!

I had Ed for Geology and absolutley loved the class. he is so funny and he actually takes you on field trips which really makes the class. his test are pretty easy as long as you take good notes and read the book. i would take this class over again if i could

Dr. Stermer is a complete nutjob - & I mean that in the most complementary manner. It takes an un-orthodox teacher to get me interested. He is a fantastic teacher-and makes otherwise boring science banter interesting, also has an odd fascination with squirrels.. haha.If science isn't high on your totem-pole of interests Dr. Stermer will make it so.

Very funny. Hate science, loved his class. It was easy to get an A. Try to get him for Lecture and Lab it made the semester flow. There's not a ton of homework but do it all it will benefit your grade. And do the study guides, they are very helpful of the tests!

He is a really fun teacher. I like his teaching style, very interactive. I just personally hate science. You do well in his class if you take good notes and study them if you dont you will fail fast.

He is pure awesome. He is funny and interesting and interactive. He makes science fun. I enjoyed coming to class everyday and going on the hiking trips. I was not into geology at all before this class and honestly, I have been thinking of changing my major to it after this class.

Excellent. My only complaint is about the homework. He doesn't have like a list or something that tells which homework is due when. So you really have to stay on top of it to know what to turn in when.

Took this class two summers ago. Good deal of work but rewarding and fun. On a field trip we pulled in a park and parked next to a car. The people in the car next to us happened to be having sex. Stermer, never short of humor, said something inaudible and we went on our way. He later referred to the man as "Mr. Happy." I laugh about it to this day.

Dr. Stermer is hilarious and a lot of fun. He shows great interest in his work & that kept me interested. I took this as a hybrid & loved it. The solar house project at the end was fun. He keeps you on your toes, but gives you all the tools you need to succeed in class. He's extremely helpful. I would definitely take another of his classes!

I loved his class. As dumb as it sounds, earth science became my favoite class. I had him for lab and lecture. He was super wierd, but a lot of fun. I got an A, but I worked for it.I respect him more than any other teacher I've had at ICC. The squirrel thing is a little strange...

Hes so fair and approachable. Answers any questions. I hate science, but I loved being in his class for both lecture and lab. Highly recommended!!!!

O.M.G. Amazing teacher. He's the acorn to my squirrel. Very clear with instructions. Makes it fun, not stale and boring like everyone else. Gives you tons of opportunities for extra credit. Ugh- excellent teacher, I'm telling you all!!

Absolutely amazing professor. Very clear about all assignments. Tests were rather hard at times, but if you study you will succeed. Squirrel obsession is hilarious. Easily approachable. I hated science before this class, but not so much anymore. Professor Stermer is an amazing teacher and truly cares about his students.

Amazing professor. I highly recommend taking his classes. Before his Earth Science class, I had very little interest in it. He makes everything interesting and the way he teaches will stick with you. I plan on taking his Geography class as well when I can!

Ed was okay. He was hilarious and made class interesting, but his tests and quizzes could be confusing at times. The way he worded some questions could be unclear and contradictory. He did let you use a note card on all the tests, and the final was online; you can take it as many times as you want.

LOVED Mr. Stermer! He is so funny and helpful and I love the way that he teaches! I might switch my major to geology because he made me love it so much.

I thought this class was pretty easy. He is entertaining, and was one of my favorite classes. He tries to make the class interesting instead of boring. Tests are a little hard, but he gives you a study guide with all of the questions that will be on the test. Lab quizzes/tests were probably the hardest thing about this class. Good teacher! Take him

The thing that upset me most about the class were the exams. He covers about 4 chapters each test and gives you "Review" sheets with about 30 questions that you have to answer and use to study. The class itself is already hard, it'd be nice to cut some slack and make studying a little easier. I started studying a week before the exam and still fail

In the first class he says that A's and F's are the hardest grades to earn. You have to work really hard for an A, but you really can't fail the class. Exams are hard, online quizzes are easy, group solar house is a grade booster. It's hard to take notes, but just try because all exams are from lecture. He is fun, but the class is difficult.

I only had him for my lab, but I kind of wish I'd taken his lecture too. He's super nice & funny & understanding if you have to miss a lab & make it up later. His exams are a little hard, but if you study for them, they're not bad. I feel like I learned more in his lab than I did in my other teacher's lecture.

He is nice and class is interesting. He prepares you very well for the tests, which are kind of difficult, but he always gives review sheets. The lab is the hardest thing about the class. He drops your lowest test score by averaging the lowest and highest together, which is extremely helpful. Book is used maybe twice. Workload is not bad at ALL.

He is funny and is pretty clear in the lectures however he is all about drawing pictures for his notes which is something I cant learn from. He is pretty straight up about grades and his tests don't match up to everything he puts on the review sheets. Science isn't my thing but I liked him. If you have to take this class take it with him.

I wish I had taken him for EASC 111. There were two class periods that he filled in for my actual professor and it made me rue the day that I chose to take someone other than Stermer. He is HILARIOUS, he makes it fun and easy to learn things, and he is so much better than the other EASC teachers. I wish I would've had him the whole semester :(

Originally signed up for his class & the school switched me out because there were too many people. Had him as a sub & he was great. I would've come to his class every day if he was my teacher. Super intelligent, makes witty/brainy jokes that are hilarious. Learned more from him in 2 days than from my teacher all semester. Take his class!

Professor Stermer is an amazing teacher. His lectures notes are done in picture form instead of words which makes it way easier to remember and understand things. His review guides are long but if you do them they really prepare you for the test. Plus, he is hilarious. His lab is good too, easy to understand and he is super helpful.

I'm 54 now and have had alot of teacher in my life, He is the top 3 teachers I've ever had. His classes are fun to take but very educational. I would take any of his classes without hesitation.

Mr. Stermer is an excellent professor; probably my favorite! He really cares about his students and helps them to succeed and is very willing to help if you ask. As he says, it's hard to get an A, but it's difficult to fail as well. Attendance is mandatory because of his lecture style, but hes very engaging so you should not dread going.

Ed is the best teacher at ICC. His class is quite hard to do bad in. Everyday was entertaining and something new.

Ed ROCKS. Great teacher, knows what he's talking about and is passionate towards the subject. Cares for his students and keeps the class entertaining. If you fill out the exam review sheets and study for the class, you'll do fine.

Ed is a great professor! Be ready to read the book and do not procrastinate in this class. You can dig your self a hole. Thankfully Ed is there to help you with anything you need!

He is a great teacher with a lot of heart. He really cares about his students and is very understanding in the case of a problem. His lectures are interesting and he brings humor so it is never boring. Out of all the Earth Science professors, I am very thankful I had him.

He's a tough professor, but if you put the work in you will learn SO much. His lectures are amazing, and he draws pictures instead of using a powerpoint. He is open-minded, and is willing to work with you outside of class if you need help with something. I'd take a class with him again in a heartbeat.

I took this course as a mini-mester and it was INTENSE! There is just no way around it... when you are taking a 4 credit hour class in 14 days it's going to be crazy! With that being said, this was definitely a great class to do it with. Professor Stermer is a wonderful professor he is so funny and truly loves what he does.

Professor Stermer is amazing. He draws pictures for his lectures instead of just writing sentences or using powerpoint, which helps you visualize the material better. He's very funny and makes lectures fun & interesting. However, it is a tough class and you will have to work hard to receive a good grade. Skip class & you probably won't do as well.

Ed Stermer is a phenomenal professor, but his classes arent the type to slack off in. His tests are strongly focused around his lectures and his teaching style involves drawing pictures on the board. Stermer is hilarious and his classes are interesting, but get ready to earn your grade. Hes genuine and easy to talk to if you need help!

He's an amazing professor, and is very helpful if you don't understand a topic. His tests are heavy but once you get a feel for what they are, they're easier to prepare for. Take him for lab as well! His lectures are hilarious and he teaches in different ways. Over all he truly cares about the students, and is will to work with any problem.

I can't even begin to describe Stermer. How do you even describe such an amazing professor? He's hilarious, very easy to talk to, and makes lecture notes easily understandable. He has a different style of teaching than other professors, but that is definitely in a good way. He is by far the best professor I've ever had.

I wasnt able to complete my semester at ICC due to personal reasons, but Stermer made my day when I attended his class. Please pick him for earth science 110 you wont regret it. He is hilarious and is very fun in his lectures. My tire blew out and I had to change it on the way to school and he let me complete my test with no worries. Great person

Professor Stermer is a really great guy. He is hilarious and enthusiastic and always ready to help you out. I emailed him multiple times during the course and he always replied quickly. This class is really hard, but its also really interesting and there are a lot of opportunities for extra credit.

It's the end of the semester and I'm currently running a low C in this class but that is purely my fault because I haven't completed the class project, it's been a super rough semester for me. I can't recommend Prof Stermer enough. His lectures are very engaging and I surprise myself with the amount of info I'm able to retain from them. Great dude.

Professor Stermer is a super fun and nice guy, but there was definitely a lot of course work. He was always there to answer questions and really wants you to succeed, but it is definitely a class where you need to keep up with the lectures and assignments- not easy.

He let us use a handwritten notecard for tests. He cares about his students and is always willing to help. I would definitely recommend taking one of his classes.

Best teacher I've had. Lectures are laidback and enjoyable, and he asks for questions throughout. He makes studying easy by providing videos of his lectures online + specific guidelines on what to study. He allows a 4x6in notecard for exams and will average your lowest exam score with your highest. His interest in science is infectious!

He was hilarious and made class enjoyable to go to. The content was something that I struggled with, but he made it as easy to learn as possible. He is high energy and you will never leave class without laughing at some point. Great teacher and would recommend for someone that has to take a required science class.

I hate science and hated the lecture but the lab was so fun! Pretty easy you just cant miss any classes or its really hard. Ed was great! So fun!

Absolutely amazing guy. Very funny, has great rapport around the building, and is always willing to help. If you show up ready to pay attention you WILL pass the class. I regret not taking classes with him sooner. I'll definitely miss him after I graduate this semester. Hope to have other professors like him in the future.

Tremendous amount of work in any science/biology at ICC. If you work, I recommend taking these solo. That being said, Ed is very caring, and very high strung. So much involved in the course, he speaks very fast & to retain info, you have to ask questions. Very generous grade scale. He adds his own work and it WILL be used on tests. Great professor!

Ed is an amazing teacher and an absolute inspiration. After being homeschooled in high school and feeling pretty down about my education and life as a whole, learning in Ed's classroom was like whiplash. Taking this class taught me that I could actually understand and enjoy science; it made me reevaluate my career plans. Thanks for everything Ed.

Professor Stermer brings an infectious enthusiasm to the class. While the coursework is challenging, he makes it enjoyable and provides great support. I found Unstuckstudy and the free textbook resources super helpful for staying on top of the material.

Professor Stermer has been one of the best professors I've had so far. His humor makes his lectures fun to sit through. If you're a visual learner, you're also more likely to thrive in his class because he does a lot of drawing out pictures. He's also always willing to help and gives you everything you need for success. 10/10!

If you're given the opportunity to take a course with this guy, I highly recommend it. Not only did he teach a well taught class, but he made it fun any chance he got. He had a great sense of humor and was always willing to help you understand his material until you understood it. I would highly reccomend his class to anyone.

Prof. Stermer is hands down the greatest prof. I've had since I started my college career. His lectures are so entertaining and informative, and all the hw/tests/quizzes are based on info either he teaches us or what's in the textbook. You WILL do well if you pay attention and do the assignments. Pro tip: DO THE REVIEW SHEETS.

I just had him for earth science lab which he is a hilarious and very caring guy. I had a breakdown about my grades and he just kept on saying everything will be alright, things will work out for me. He is always down to help as much as he can. Wish took more of his classes.

Fun guy, you can tell he actually likes what he teaches, and the lectures were interesting even though I don't really like science. He lets you have a notecard for exams, and there's extra credit opportunities later in the semester.
