He inspires students as well as educate them.
A former Army General, he is a great teacher but he won't cut his mother slack.
He'll slice and dice stupidity. Study and you'll be cool. Don't study and die.
He knows more history than God and teaches every bit of it in one semester.
Amazing method of teaching -- most informative history class I've ever had
he's cool, i mean, for an old geezer
The History God as he calls himself is fun to have as a teacher, if his class isn't for credit. I consider myself a History Hero but even still, I found myself struggling. Keep it up General, but, kinda make it a little easier to give points.
I took his class two years ago. I am now graduating from OU as a history major. I never had anybody like him before or since. I now know why he was a General in the Army. Think of Patton in the classroom.
dude, you're looking at reading assignments, lectures, q&a every wed, quizzes every friday, a 150 question mid-term, 250 question final and requried term paper. if you take him get ready to work cuz' he takes no prisoners.
If you try and are simply ignorant, he will educate you. If you are lazy and stupid, he will liquidate you.
Do not plan on catching any Zs in this class.
Man, I've had three honors classes and made As. I've worked harder in this class than the other three combined and will be lucky to make a B, but I've learned more history than I ever thought existed. The General is the BEST.
For the 1st third of the semester I wondered if I should drop out. For the second third, I began to think I could make it. By the end of the semester, I was glad I hung in there. But if you are a high school smartass, he'll filet you like a fish.
He has a peculiar talent to cause you to believe you are actually back in history reliving the events that are being discussed. I actually felt what it was like to land at Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944. I wish I could take another class of his again.
I actually looked forward to coming to this class and am sorry its over. He treats everyone with respect and courtesy which is unusual for a professor. I wish I could take another class with him again.
I am enrolled with the concurrent enrollemnet from my high school, and this being one of the two classes at TCC I enjoyed it very much, I learned alot and my professor was great.
I always had trouble with history until I took this class. The 'General' really makes it come alive. And even now that its over, I can't believe how much I remember.
Took both Pre and Post Civil war classes with the General although my major was Spanish. Really enjoyed the "Blood and Guts" of Happy Hour. Although I am retired Navy, the General(Army) didn't hold it against me (ha! ha!).
The 'General' is terrific. Took an 8-week summer course. Still can't believe how much I learned. He has a real talent in being able to communicate effectively with every student. Several of us want to take his other classes in history.
The General is the kind of professor you want and expect to get in college but often don't. He was patient, helpful, understanding and very knowledgeable. If I can take any other course from him, I will.
The General is; no doudt the best teacher i've ever had. He brungs the subject to life like no other. I highly recomend him but be prepared to WORK. P.S. don't worry about happy hour
If you skated through HS, don't even think about taking the 'General.' He ought to be teaching at a University level.
If I had wanted a course this hard I would have gone to the Univ of Tulsa. We're facing a 150 question mid-term in 50 minutes, which is one question every 20 seconds. On top of quizzes every week and a 250 question final, he demands a term paper! &^%$#
If you aren't ready for college, don't take the General's class or you'll find out inth-- the next week or to whether you are r not/
This is the second class I've had with the General and I still can't figure out what political party he belongs to. This may be why he's so good. He teaches history not political baloney.
I LOVE this class and it is American History?!?! What am I thinking?!?!? OOOOH.... yes. General Wheeler is why!! MAN you gotta LOVE this guy! Best teacher/professor/friend you could find. Of course you have to work hard... but he makes
General Wheeler taught me more about history than I new existed. He is extremely knowledgable and very helpful. You will need all the help you can get but this is an AMAZING teacher.
This 6 ft 4' giant scared the hell out of me at first. I dont know why but i waited for this class every week... I doubt there could be a professor like the General... If you want to learn histy & enjoy the class. I highly recommend prof Wheeler...
The 'General' does not babysit. If you were in a nursery that passed for a high school and you draw the General, you'd better grow up or take a hike. If you are willing to study, he'll be the best professor you'll ever have.
He is an oak tree in a field of weeds. I'm starting my last semester at OU, and of all the professors I've had, the 'General' at TCC is the most memorable and had the biggest impact on me. In my college career, he was the best of all.
I can easily understand how he became an Army General. He involves everyone in the class. Nobody is exempt and he doesn't play favorites. He will teach you how to think on your feet better than anybody I've ever known or seen.
After he got rid of those who were pretending they were ready for college at the beginning of the semester; he turned a potential 50-minutes of boredom into an adventure in time travel, but I've never studied this hard in my life.
Dude, he defines the title "Professor." His course is harder than any honors course I've ever taken before and this isn't even an Honors Course. But I've learned more and enjoyed history more than I've ever thought possible.
Take the General if you can. He could teach a bunch of monkeys Shakespeare, and have them performing Hamlet by the end of the semester. There are some who have to work at it, and some who have a talent for it. He is blessed with the ability to inspire
General...If you read this I want you to know that you're the best teacher I have ever had! You probably remember me as Sunshine! Bunney and Dempsey were in my class! I suggest everyone take this class! I promise you won't forget where your states are!:)
The semester is at an end and I don't know what my final grade is going to be, but I tell everyone if they don't take the "General", they will lose out on one of the truly great experiences they will ever have in college. He is beyond good ...
Professor Wheeler has a classroom style that is way outside the box. He gets everyone involved to such adegree that we looked forward to each class. He could generate enthusiasm in a slug. Best professor I've ever had and I recommend him to anyone.
Where can you go to college and get a 35 page final exam handed to you at the end of the semester? Harvard? Yale? OU? Nahh ...only if you are in the General's history class at TCC. He was awesome and I would sign up for him again for an
Best course I've ever taken. Not a minute goes by that you aren't sure where you stand with him. No favorits, no slack, just pure education. Even if you fail the class, your better for just being there. Siemper Fi.
The general's history 1493 was the very best class I have had the pleasure of attending at TCC. He is very tough, no doubt about it, but everyone who attended his class left with a wide range of knowledge. He made history interesting, challenging and fun!
The general knows exactly what he is talking about! Probably because he has lived most of our history! he WILL make you wish you had stayed at home the first day, but if you are strong, you may survive! i recommend any of the generals courses to anyone.
More demanding than any honors course and it isn't even an honors course. If you are lazy, he will eat your hot steaming guts before you know you've been disembowled. But if you study, you will have the greatest experience of your college life bar none.
I took US Hist 1483 from the General and now I'm signed up for 1493. Same as before .. I can hardly wait for the next class to begin. Is this nuts or what? His energy level is so high that its contagious..
General Wheeler is an old lonely man that knows his stuff... He's a great teacher. Happy hour is the best
He is old and and may be lonely, but don't arm wrestle him. He's built like an OU lineman and his size is only exceeded by his intellect. I used to hate history. The semester isn't over yet and I can hardly wait to taqke another course from him.
I hated history like no other before this class. I actually looked foward to his class. He can be tough but if you take good notes and study them, thats what the whole test is almost of of. Oh yah, Take full advantage of happy hour. IT will kinda of freak you out at first but it's way awesome!!
I have taken him twice, and I look forward to going to his class everyday. It is just as challenging as the first time I took his class, but I love every minute of it!!
The General is the best teacher I have ever had in any course. He is an awesome individual and a fantastic teacher. I took the same class at OU and failed. I think I'll have an "A" this time. He really wants his students to learn and that is evident. General, YOU ROCK!
The general is the best and most fun teacher I've ever had. I hated history until his class, I couldn't wait to take another class with him. 9/10 of the test comes from notes. All his lec is from first-hand knowledge, because he was there. Even all the major battles. He'll tell you himself.
I liked history before I had the General. Now I absolutley love it. I enjoyed his class so much the first time that here I am taking another one of his impassible classes. Man I must be nuts. It is just past the first day and I plan on taking another one of his courses next semester.
The General is very good because he's totally unconventional. You can use handwritten notes during quizzes and tests, he uses Happy Hour (Q&A) to teach main points, exams are "impossible to pass", but you will learn and enjoy it more than any class you've ever taken. He is the best prof I've had.
My fav professor this semester. The one class I actually look foward to. Keeps you on your toes.
Dude, if you want the General you'd best sign up early cuz his class will fill up and then some. He is really good and could give lessons how to teach. He;s the best professor I've ever had and I worked my butt off in his clas.
The General is the best professor I've ever had. He teaches very well, keeps his political opinion to his self. Be prepared for alot of work. If you ever wanted to know about the meaning and structure of our government, this is the class to take. I'm glad I did. God bless Mr. Wheeler.
If you don't take his warnings seriously, take excellent notes on EVERYTHING he utters to the class, and do your work ahead of time, you'll have your butt handed to you on a silver platter whith a shiney new F.
The General is a University Professor at a Community College level. He is EXTREMELY good and he will bust his butt to make sure you learn, but he expects the same effort from you, otherwise he WILL hand you your head. But they don't come any better, trust me, I've had two govt classes before.
Pay attention and take notes. The General tells you exactly what he wants. Do that and you should do well in the course. To the general, I know you like ratings about being disembowled, Haha, but I really enjoyed the class and learned not to trust everything the government tries to tell us.
prof wheeler makes out like this will be the toughtest class ever, however he is great. the class is awesome
I've had a load of professors but the General is absolutely awesome. His classes were the only ones I looked forward to attending. He has an incredible capability to explain how and why our ancestors thought the way they did. I love the objective way he tests as well. You have to know the material cuz.you can't BS your way through an essay quiz.
This guy was the hardest teacher I've ever had but man was he one of the best. You will study and listen in class or you will die. Ha ha and wow he will make you unintentionally luagh your butt off with some of the things that come out of his mouth. I still talk to this guy around school. I will never forget him.
At the beginning of last semester he told everyone that his class was a free fire zone of ideas, and those who were overly sensitive, politically correct, or were members of the get offended at everything crowd should transfer. He wasn't jiving. We covered more ideas in 50 minutes than I could think of in a month. He was great, and I got a B.
It is a fun class, but you will have to study your butt off!
I could have cared less about the subject but had to take the course. The General is so good though that he really made it so interesting, that I have signed up for a second history course as an elective. I just wish I could take him again even though we had a 37 page final exam and I never expect to see one like it again.
He is a very dedicated teacher!! He will not miss class or cancel class for anything!! As long as you take really good notes during class you will do fine! He lets you use your hand written notes on your quizzes, mid-term, and final! DONT skip class!! You will miss a whole lot of notes!! You take a quiz every friday!! GREAT TEACHER!!!!! I got a B!!
If you like hist. take him. He REALLY knows his stuff. If you don't like history, you'll probably find him too hard. He talks fast so have a recorder, don't miss class because you can use written notes on the tests and finals, (P.S. the final is almost 40 pages long) and DO NOT wait to do your term paper at the last minute
General Wheeler is awesome. He is well organized and knows his material. The thing I like most about him is that you know where you stand with him and what your grad is all the time. We got great feedback from him and he even helped us on our term papers. Man, as far as I am concerned, he is a history God, and I made a B in his class.
Do NOT underestimate this course. I am taking two honors courses and I have to work twice as hard on this one and it isnt even an honors course. The Prof knows his stuff, you learn a lot, but you WILL work your butt off. The mid-term exam was 150 questions in 50 MINUTES, even though we got to use our notes. But he's the best Prof I have.
This is the best Professor at TCC. I think he comes off as really hard, however, he is just the opposite. If you listen in class and take notes his class is the best. The midterm and final are not that hard. You just have to listen and study and do not rely on the fact that he lets you have your notes.
I have never liked history until I took this class! I never cared!! But he made everything very interesting! You have to go to class to take notes...if you dont you wont do well at all. This is the best class I have ever had!! I recommend him to everyone! I only wish he taught other classes!!
This teacher REALLY pushes you to pass the class. I didn't like history all too much but he made it AWESOME. This teacher is the BEST i have ever had.
You can get an easier Professor, but you won't get one who will twach you more. The General is really good, but he defines the word STRESS. Nobody slides through this class. I'll be lucky to make a B, but after this semester is over, I could teach the course.
General is AMAZING!!!! Very interesting. He is full of crazy facts and keeps class lively. He lets you use your notes on everything, even the final. If you show up for class, pay attention, and take notes you'll do just fine. Oh! but dont forget the term paper. TURN IT IN EARLY!!!!! He is one of the best at TCC.
I won't say BGen Wheeler is my favorite professor at TCC, only cause he wouldn't like hearing that. But seriously this guy knows his stuff. Pick his brain, you will learn something. But beware, he will rip your head off and crap down your throat if you gaff his class off. Try hard & this class will pay off. I'm taking his history next sem. Got an A
Prof Wheeler teaches govt in such an interesting and well organized way that everyone looks forward to the next class. He has quizzes every Friday, Mid-term, term paper and a Final and tells us what our course grades are every Monday. Take him if you can. You'll learn a lot and enjoy it, but don't take him if you're lazy. He'll wash you out.
Professor Wheeler is an amazing man with a commanding knowledge of both history and political systems, I highly recommend him to any History or Poli Sci major! If you are taking History just because you have to or you really don't care, dont take him, he'll shoot you dead then pee on your grave!
Mr Wheeler is a very good teacher and very humble! But if your weak this man will shoot you with War Head missle Quizes, And Nuclear Exams.... Choose Your Teacher wisely. Or you may never see the the light of college agian. Mr Wheelers class is clean and cut but if you cant handle him you will fail in blood dripping scores. So take his class, learn!
prof wheelers class is awesome. ull learn so much about every aspect of the govt if u pay attention. u know where u stand in the class every monday. quizzes are pretty simple and easy if u read and take notes. he even lets u use notes on test mid term and finals. wheeler is awesome if u are a lazy bum then dont bother taking the class ull fail!!
The General is a strict but fair man. Take notes or each Friday you will be shot down by an M2 .50 cal machine gun as you fly over the Pacific for the keiser. Upon your sacrifice, an iron cross will be sent to your next of kin. (you will understand when you enroll)
Professor Wheeler is fair but very demanding and he knows more history than the author of the textbook, probably because he lived through most of it. Be warned, he demands a term paper, gives quizzes on Fridays, a killer mid-term and a 56-page final that made my brain hurt. His course is not for the weak, but he treats everyone with respect.
Prof. Wheeler is one of my favorite teachers at TCC. He knows his stuff and he has an amazing sense of humor. Always show up to class, TAKE GOOD NOTES and don't write your term paper at the last minute. And don't wear your hat on backwards to class.. You will be made fun of.
The General is a really good professor. But we all have a love-hate relationship with him. We love him because he teaches us more than any of us thought we could ever absorb. We also hate him because he teaches us more than any of us thought we could ever absorb. I've taken two classes from him and trust me, he is the best.
Mr. Wheeler is great! He knows history as well if he lived through it all. He is tough but a softy at the same time! He's a lot of fun and makes class interesting.Don't take his class if you are not willing to work for your grade and attend class. He will eat you for breakfast!
Professor Wheeler is a great teacher. He makes like he is hard on the first day but if you can take notes and remember them your good. He is so hot. Not in a I want your bod kind of way but he is so smart and makes history so fun. I love it.
As Daggering ice icicles plummeted towards the center of the universe and the area was classifies as a state of emergency, the Kiser planes made their way over the deadly surroundings which was government and history class, our enemy even though didn’t want to .But let the 2007 air Kiser’s fly through with no damage or death to succeed to the next
I had this prof over a year ago and I still think about him everyday - he made that much of an impression on me. He was terrific and I'd take a class from him again anyday!
Best ever
Pay attention, all things verbalized will be on the test. I didn't need to know what gerrymandering was, but i certainly needed to know what state the practice started in (it's Massachusetts). You can use your notes, so write down everything.
MOST AMAZING TEACHER EVER!!!!! If you want a walk in the park History class this is not the one to take, if you want to me amazed by probably the most intellegent man on the face of the PLANET then he is the man! awesome and bring a recorder cause you will want to keep everything. WHEELER FOR PRESIDENT---
I took this guy back in 2004 and still think of him to this very day. He's one of my favorite teachers. He lost his son in a car accident and still showed up to teach class the next day. He's hardcore and believe me, you will learn history whether you want to or not.
He is cool for being an older dude. He maks history easy to lern and I ackshuly lookd forward to coming to clasz. I hope I pass. It is not an easy class or s boring one.
Mr. Wheeler is great. He makes history fun to learn. If possible I would sign up for another course from him.
"Happy Hour" is a complete joke. The class potentially punishes perfectly good students while rewarding lazy ones. The subject matter he covers is not truly American History, but things in American History that interest him. His term rewards shallow writing. The less you write, the less there is to be graded against. Don't take this class.
I used to hate history. I can't say I do anymore. He makes the subject interesting and gives better feedback than any professor I've had. But be wary, he weeds out those who thought they could slide through. We started with 30 and there were only 14 of us left when we took the 200 question final. He is very good but very tough.
Knows his stuff, but if you want an A do not take this class. Quiz every Friday, "happy hour" following w/ the potential of going negative points in the class. 15 page research paper that you must turn in ~4 times to get an even okay grade b/c he is ridiculously harsh on grading it. Midterm extremely difficult. Make SURE to put name on EVERY page.
People think this professor is really hard; however, in the start of the semester he extremely mean and loud. By the end of the semester he's calm and more giving with points. The whole point is weaning the bad students out that are not interested
This professor is a former military officer and is exetremely knowledgable and thoroughly interesting. All quizzes/tests are open note and he gives ample time to complete mid-term paper... even willing to proof read the paper prior to turning it in for a grade! I highly recommend Prof Wheeler and am grateful that I took his course. (Made an A)
I was in a car wreak and because of it I was not able to attend every class. There for I was not able to make every quiz, when I told him what had happened he said "I hope it does not hurt your grade." So if you happened to get hurt and are not able to attened class do not ask him cause he will not help out.
Professor Wheeler is the best of all my professors. He helped me learn more history in this semester than I learned in 12 years in public school. He is very tough, but fair and if you take his class understand ahead of time that he doesn't tolerate fools or immature kids.
Be ready to go to every lecture and take excellent notes, otherwise you don't have a chance to pass this class. The better the notes, the better your chances are, because he lets you use the notes on any test! Seriously, the General is the best teacher I have ever had. And, he has an excellent sense of humor, so that's always a plus.
Although I didn't do well in this class at all, it was my favorite class last semester. I would only recommend this class to people willing to go to every single class and pay extremely good attention.
Loved his class. By far my favorite. I never liked History until I attended the Generals class. So much so I switched my major from Psychology to History~ Very influential and if you want to learn, take his class. If you are looking for an easy class, this one is not for you..only the strong survive & the weak shall perish & I will take him again!
He has expectations of his students. He is an amazing teacher and will not hold your hand through the material. If you work hard and study a lot, u will have no problems! He is by far one of the best professors I've ever had.
I encountered the "General" in my Sophomore year at TCC. Since then I have graduated from OU and now have an MBA. But I still remember him. He was an incredible professor. I can understand how he became an Army General. He was the only professor I ever had who could capture the imagination of his students. Incredible man..
I took this class 20 years ago. I didn't learn much. I didn't learn because I was 19 and a moron. General Wheeler was a stern, commanding figure, and he said a few things I still remember. He said, "Every generation has unifying moment." Not long after, two tall buildings fell. He also said, "It takes people to occupy and hold territory." Smart man
