Dr. Cagli is not a bad professor by any means. However, if you are a visual learner you will not find her lectures beneficial. I prefer hand written notes & she does screenshots off the textbook which you also need to read each week. On top of that, mini exams present problems rarely practiced and are 20-30 mins for LONG problems.

She's new but she is fair and good. Pay attention in lectures because the same problems pop up on the exam (just different molecules, numbers). She appreciates students' feedbacks and try incorporating them for future exams. Exams not that hard as long you study. One downside she might give less time on the mini exams tho :( 5 mini exams 1 dropped

Lectures are decent, but she rarely gives examples. All test questions are things she's talked about once for about 5 minutes, and she does not in the slightest give us enough time for tests. I've been teaching myself all the material based on what she has in the lectures which is honestly the only way I can get by.

Quite evident this is her first year teaching based on how inconsistent her assignment criteria is. She asks for feedback quite a bit but is reluctant to change. Many had issues with how long her mini-exams take, but instead of making changes she asks US to change the way we take her exams. I'd suggest taking chem w a more experienced professor

Lectures have not been helpful for me at all. She just screenshots portions of the textbook and reads off slides without further explanation. I prefer handwritten notes as they are easier to follow. There are barely any examples in lecture which is no help. Her exams have LONG problems and we only get ~25 mins to finish and then we have lecture.

Keep in mind this was her first quarter teaching ever, however, her lectures are not helpful and jump around alot anything you will learn from YouTube and the textbook. There was no time during the quarter that she actually showed any step-by-step mechanism or in-class example to explain the concept. She is extremely nice and cares about students.

She tries to keep students engaged and asks for our opinions after every test we take (if it seemed fair for us etc.). I agree with other reviews that her lectures are a bit difficult/not going through mechanisms properly/moving too fast on some things. You do have to teach yourself some things/go to workshops, but tbh that may just be ochem.

Organic chemistry is already a tough subject, and this professor's inexperience makes it harder. I recommend choosing a more experienced professor for a better learning experience.

For her first time teaching, yes there are a lot of flaws. She lectures off of PowerPoints and that can be very unengaging. I did well in her class but still had a very negative experience. Her practice problems were poorly reviewed, and exam grading was inconsistent. Many students could have succeeded with simple improvements, but she dismissed constructive feedback and refused to make changes. Taking her class was an agonizing life event, would NOT recommend.

I don't know why a bunch of the reviews on here are lying about Eda. At first I thought she was a nice professors because she was new to Davis and it was her first time teaching CHE118B. BUT NO! she was so harsh on grading, no partial credit, did not take criticism well. CURVE was nonexistent, and thought "curve" was fair to everyone but in factnot

Test were super hard, tested on 118C materials. Does not give partial credit, super harsh & strict grader. Her test averages were 50,60,and 80%. She kept on asking us why it was so low, but her problems were hard, or there was too much to do in 50 minutes. Keeps on changing the format of the tests. Awful prof, I have to retake this class b/c of her

OMG. thats all you need to know about her. awful do not take her, I promise you will be wasting your time taking any class with her. Ignore all the other reviews that you see, this is your sign to run away now and not waste your time and effort in her class. She does not care about the time that she is wasting of her students, espec med students.

Look at the reviews released on today and see how many of them are D+. Many of these were a C- last night. She "put the cut-offs so no one was on a cusp"; I would like to know her definition of a cusp, as I know of at least two people who have a grade within 1% of a C-. She became so spiteful, and I feel like that was reflected in the .10% curve.

With the realization that Ochem is hard that is why most people dislike it. Cagli was a good teacher compared to other teachers I had who didn't respect the students, and would just ignore them, even if they had questions. So I don't think she deserves a low rating, I had fun learning this material, and the TA's were also the best I've had.

If there is any other option available, I would not choose this nightmare. When it comes to learning and especially such an important course as ochem, I dont care about her personality but the effectiveness and accessibility the lecture is delivered, for this reason, she failed to do so to an extent that the rating doesnt work w/ no -pt. chunshabi.

Until the last couple weeks, Cagli was my favorite chem prof and my grades were fine. The final was a disaster: the average was 55%, which I attribute to two things: we rushed through the last few lectures, and the final included topics outside of the scope of the class. Also, the curve was disappointing and didn't improve my letter grade.

Decent professor but the final and midterms had a decent amount of material that was not covered during the lecture.

She is a new professor. decent lecturer but has the tendency to make a few mistakes. Her practice exams have a lot of typos in it, but studying was doable using outside resources like aatc. Her exams are moderate difficulty, with one or two questions being worded weirdly. final was very hefty. she tends to test us on things learned last minute.

I did not enjoy my time this quarter. Cagli was unclear with expectations until the whole class failed the first exam, and even then, it was hard to get a straight answer from her. She does not offer any partial credit on exams, and it was detrimental to my grade. Everyone says Lievens is hard, but Cagli puts it to shame. Do not take this class.

i thought she was a nice lady at first but near the end of the quarter she was kinda errrr. the exams are difficult and the final was soo hard. she's okay at teaching the material (better than farahat i dare say). there was a curve but it wasn't even that good. and i can't even retake the class bc i got a c- ugh.

I dislike when teachers blame students rather than attributing their own teaching style. Her curve helped a lot of the higher grades rather than lower grades. Neo, her TA, was great, but both covered material that we never learned in class and expected us to know it for the final.

I was not going to post a review, because Im a traumatized by her. But seriously look at all the bad reviews, that was posted about her class, they all have a high amount dislikes (its most likely her disliking it) because some of the my friends had figure some of the nicer reviewers were left by her. Like seriously look.

Some the nicer reviews does not seem like we took the same prof. Like I went to every single lecture + OHs and I was still so confused every time that I left that room. Strict grader, no partial credit, has high expectations, wants us to start studying for midterms in week advance (during the quarter with other classes). RUN AWAY

Everyone thought her "curve" would be really nice and generous like how she had for 118A but no, there was barely anything. So like the other review had said, it had only helped the individuals with higher grades than those who had a lower grade. Which isn't fair at all. Head TA also sent out a really mean and snarky message. AWFUL.

I think the hate is unwarranted. Her lectures are easy to follow, she draws every mechanism out so you know EXACTLY how each mechanism works step by step. Her tests are difficult but ochem in general is difficult. Her tests were similar to helix's exams and her averages were also similar, if anything her curve is more generous.

Wasn't the best at teaching/lectures but that's not a big issue. The biggest issue is her exams were way too long for the 50 min allotted time. When told this, she dismissed students saying they should be better prepared and should study harder, basically blaming us instead of hearing us out. Final was DIABOLICAL. I do not suggest taking her.
