Great teacher! Very passionate about Public Speaking! He is very easy to approach. Gives entertaining lectures; is a hoot! Is very understanding! Great all-around guy!!! Highly recommended!
Eddie is the best teacher here at Clemson by far. He makes it easy to talk in front of a crowd, and allows you to speak on fun topics. His lectures in his class turn into jokes, but you really get a lot out of it. By all means, take this professor.
Eddie is the best professor I have ever had
Yeah, Eddie is a great guy and tells fun stories but if you want to learn anything then don't take this class. The final is department wide and he did nothing to prepare us. If you want to slack and get a B, then take Eddie, if you want an A, DON'T!
His class requires you to listen to inappropriate and uncomfortable language/remarks/speeches from a middle-aged frat boy and his slacker followers.

He's great!
Eddie's class is great!

Eddie is the man. BEST TEACHER IN THE WORLD. class is awesome. funny, helpful, and understanding. HIGHLY recomended.
Unfortunately, I don't attend Clemson University but Eddie taught my speech class at Anderson College and he was one of the coolest professors that I have had since being in college. I would recommend Eddie to anyone because he is very understanding, FUNNY, and a joy to have as a professor!
This man is awesome! He gets along with everyone- from those who want to go party to those who are going on an FCA retreat! He's really a good guy and I recommend taking his class. It's worth waiting for if you have to do so!
I had Eddie for Speech at Anderson College. I thought he was the coolest professor I have ever had. He was very practical and very understanding of life the fact that crap happens.
awesome teacher. actually made everyone feel relaxed by the time we had to give our first speech. great experience in class and he helped get over stage-fright. narrates nice little tales here and there. would recommend him to everyone.

Hes the man... take his class!!! It's as simple as the that
Eddie Smith is a horrible professor. He is immature, offensive, and thoughtless during his lectures. He is not helpful, and needs to learn how to use the internet. Times are changing and black board skills should be a requirement for teachers. Eddie smith tells a good story, but provides no needed information during his lecture.
His lecture is a waste of time. Take your lab with Kim so you actually get something out of it. I got tired of hearing about his delinquit youth, hour after hour, week after week, especially since almost all of the stories he told were fabricated.
Don't listen to the person who said that he is immature and offensive. They obviously don't have a sense of humor. Eddie is a really cool guy. You don't do any work in his lecture because all of it is done in lab except for tests. He tells a lot of stories, but most of them are amusing in some way. He is easy and entertaining, so take him.
awesome guy that makes you wanna be in class just to hear his stories. all the work was done in lab and his class was very entertaining. easy A as long as you do the work. the best thing about him is that he wants you to do well. also...teacher of the year, take him
I find it offensive that anyone who had the privilege of taking Eddie's class would have anything bad to say about him. Consider yourself lucky you were able to even get in his class. He was the best teacher I ever had at Clemson.
he is awesome & that's all u need to know!
I love Eddie... He's pretty much an iconic figure at Clemson... meeting Eddie should be a requirement to graduate. I never got to take his classes because they fill up so quick, but he helped me with my internships & he was SO helpful helping me to find and apply for great internships. He's just a fun guy to stop by and visit with too!
Eddie is the man. He's a legend on campus, and for good reason. His stories are second to none and make class interesting. He creates a class environment where nobody is intimidated to give their speeches.
this guy is a ****. very offensive
This guy is awesome. Stories keep class fun and tie in to lecture material. Fun guy to be around. Makes sure tests are fair and simple. One of the best and coolest teachers around campus.
I absolutely love this man! His class is the only one i can stay awake and not in a stupor. He makes class interesting and tells stories that will make you laugh. It's like sitting with an old friend telling stories. He's fun, nice, and loves to party. The students on campus love him. I've never heard a bad thing about the man, so take him!
Smith is a great teacher! His class was more stand up comedy than actual work. Most of the work is done in lab. Tests were moderate. Loved this class!
Eddie Smith is a creeper. I thought he was funny until I saw him at a frat party-- then I got sketched out. Class is amusing but has absolutely NOTHING to do with communications.. you'll see stuff on the tests that you've never heard him say before, ever. Whether you go to lecture or not, you can get the same grade. Tests were tricky.
Though he's funny and a nice guy, hes so "laid back" that it takes 3-4 weeks to get your grades back. Personally I didnt like how unstructured the class was. Lecture isnt really important to attend, so as long as you do well on your lab work and do average on the class tests, you should make an A. Look over the vocab that he emails as a means of st
this guy is the man. absolutely an incredible teacher who makes things very easy to relate to. class was supposed to mandatory but he rarely took attendance. recommended to everyone. he's awesome!
I waited until my senior year so I could take Eddie Smith, the ledgend and it was TOTALLY worth the wait. The tests are just vocab that he mails out, lab is a handfull of easy speeches and lecture is like going to watch Robin Williams preform. Take my advice and wait to get Eddie, he's awesome!
Eddie is the man - best class I have ever taken, lecture is like going to see a comedian.
Didn't take his class, but I just loooooovve Eddie!
Eddie is a great guy, but I didn't care for his teaching style. Grades take forever, if you get them. He tells a lot of stories, most have nothing to do with what is on the test. Not terribly helpful as far as how to study, but the class was easy enough.
Eddie is one of the best professors I have had at Clemson! Take him for lab and lecture if at all possible. Do all of the work and you will get an A in lab (which is 60% of your grade). The lectures aren't that helpful for studying for the exams, but read the chapters and you will make A's on the exams.
Eddie is hilarious. You don't need to go to class, but the lecture is a comedy show, so you might as well. Don't take notes in class, everything you need to know for the tests he emails out. Tests are easy, but watch for tricky questions.
He is a waste of time. Fun guy, but read the book and memorize the terms. Easy A, but a waste of time.
Great guy!! Lecture is theoretically mandatory but he never took attendance. He emails out all of the notes, so read the book and the notes and you should do well. Lecture is worth showing up to anyway just to get to hear his stories.
CLASS IS A COMEDY NIGHT SHOW! NOT A GOOD TEACHER.... GOES INTO USELESS TALKS ABOUT THINGS NOT RELATED TO COMMUNICATIONS.... BUT LUCKILY TESTS COME STR8 FROM THE BOOK OR NOTES THAT HE UPLOADS ON BLACKBOARD, SO STUDENTS COULD DO WELL IN THE CLASS
Tests are easy if you read the book. No need to go to lecture he just tells stories
awesome person. hilarious class time. study the vocab and youll make an A
Do not take this class if you want to learn anything. It is incredibly easy, just memorize the vocab from the textbook, but you aren't going to get anything out of it. If you are a science major, then maybe take Eddie because you don't really need to know communications anyway.
Eddie smith is an excellent professor. He makes everything clear and although he can be vulgar, he keeps your attention.
Eddie is awesome! Everything that he says in lecture is never used on exams, but hearing his stories are totally worth going. His exams are pretty much vocabulary so not a lot of effort is required. If you can, take him. He's great!
you don't need to go to class because nothing he says is mandatory and he basically tells stories the entire time. tests are vocab directly from the book and are pretty easy as long as you know the definitions. takes FOREVER to get grades back, but other than that i recommend this class.
We love Eddie! His class was by far the most enjoyable. I looked forward to going to this class. He tells great stories that relate to the material being taught. These stories are also hilarious. This class is like 1 hour of straight laughing. He's just a fun guy and therefore is a fun teacher. :)
Eddie's a great story teller. If you want to hear him tell stories, go to lecture. Memorize and understand the vocab words, and you'll do fine.
EDDIEEE! he is an awesome teacher..very HILARIOUS! You won't have to worry about texting or using facebook in his class because he will ALWAYS hae you laughing, but will educate you! He also gives extra credit all the time , so there should be no reason for anyone to make below a B in his class. Good luck!
I'm a bio major, but I enjoyed Eddie's class. He basically tells stories the whole time. They can get a little inappropriate sometimes, but going to class is fun. Just memorize the vocab he sends out before each test and you'll make an A.
Eddie is the man, his lectures are entertaining, because he just tells stories the whole time. Just know that his lectures are pretty useless for the tests, make sure you read the chapters in the book.
Eddie is great! Tells stories the entire class so attendance isn't necessary but if he knows you, it helps even more. Talk to him after class and make jokes during class and your sure to get an A.
One of the best teachers I ever had. I hated speaking in public and hes made so easy for me to at least try. Hes really funny he has great stories and he's so helpful.I would take the class over again just because I loved it so much :)
Awesome teacher! He tells funny stories entire class and always lets class out early. Class is not mandatory, but it is so much fun to go and listen to what he is going to say! My fav class, by far! Recommend him to anyone.
He isnt as funny as people make him but the class is easy. He likes to get to know his students and may come off as a little creepy but he's fine. You can make a good grade if you get to know him. otherwise just study the vocab he sends out before each test. The lecture is pointless and not necessary. Only go if you're bored, they aren't helpful fo
Eddie is the best. Don't listen to people who say he is too easy: he just happens to teach an easy subject. Very helpful out of class; I see him instead of my own advisor. Class is entertaining and funny. Sit in the front and get to know him and you will have a great semester
Eddy Smith is the man and his class is always fun to go to.
Awesome teacher! He made a boring class very interesting. Memorize the key terms he gives you and you will def get an A.
This class is a piece of cake. He just tells entertaining stories the whole class. For tests, just memorize the terms or look at his outlines. He is basically a grown-up frat boy, but it is very entertaining.
This is the easiest class I took all year. The lecture is completely pointless when it comes to the tests, but really hilarious. Eddie basically just tells funny stories and tries to offend people. If he likes you, you'll definitely get an A. If not, just study the key terms for the tests and you'll still make an A.
Class is a joke. Attendance is pointless, but supposedly you lose a letter grade for every absence past the first. Eddie constantly tries to inject religion into his lectures and is frequently inappropriate, especially in his interactions with college-aged women. That said, you might as well take it with him, because you can work on other stuff.
Eddie is the BEST TEACHER EVER! The class was a joke only because it is a gen-ed. But I looked forward to his class because I knew I would be fun. He tells stories and jokes the entire class. He doesn't really teach what is on the test, but he gives you study guides that cover everything. Know the vocab and you will make an A! Have fun!
Take. This. Class. Eddie gives you extra credit for coming to lecture, and he just tells stories the whole time, memorize the terms he emails out before tests, and you're golden. Best gen-ed ever. Oh, and don't waste your money on the book.
Best professor at Clemson! Eddie Smith was the funniest, nicest, and just all around best professor. When we did speeches, it didn't feel like he was going to bite our heads off if we weren't perfect, it felt really comfortable. If possible, TAKE. THIS. CLASS.
Eddie is great! Going to class is actually fun. He tells great stories and teaches the class well. The tests are pretty easy and the use of the textbook is minimal. But Eddie sends out a study guide for each test telling you exactly what to study.
Awesome teacher. Definitely recommend. Tells stories during class and wants students to do well. Very encouraging during speeches. Hard to get into his class though cause everyone knows he is great.
easiest class I ever took. His lectures are just stories, his really chill for the lab speeches, and his tests are pretty easy. Funny guy and a guaranteed A
Take him! Class is just stories and he never keeps you more than an hour. Tests are all definitions and he gives study guides. You don't even need the textbook for this class. He's funny and nice. Just overall a really laid back, cool professor
Eddie is the best professor I have had. He takes the time to get to know students and cares a lot about how they do in the class. I recommend him to everyone; he makes his class very relatable to students and his tests are all definitions (plus the occasional hints). LOVE HIM. I would do anything to be in his class again!
Eddie is SO FANTASTIC. I just took him this past semester and he's great. I had an 88.7 and really needed an A and he bumped me up for attending his lectures. I'm horrified of public speaking, but if you have to take this class, TAKE EDDIE. NOBODY ELSE.
EDDIE is AMAZING. His lectures are always filled with interesting stories that will have you wanting more. Also if you go to class at the end of the semester Eddie will definitely help you out if you are a point or two away from a letter grade. This guy is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
He is absolutely hilarious. Best professor I have had so far at Clemson. I actually enjoyed going to the lecture and the tests were incredibly easy.
Eddie is the man! He's hilarious and when you go to lecture, you feel like you're in a comedy club and not a class. I was so glad to have Eddie for COMM 150. I've gotten to know him well and he's a great guy. Just skim over the vocabulary list he sends out before the exams and you are set for an A (given that you do well in lab).
Eddie is the man! Best and most interesting teacher I have had so far. He is so entertaining and tells tons of stories in class. Class isn't mandatory but it is a class you want to go to. He loves teaching this class and you can tell. You learn a lot without even knowing it. GET HIM IF YOU CAN!!!
Eddie is the bomb, nothing else needs to be said. Take him if you can.
Wonderful, just wonderful. Such an interesting class and he is hilarious. He's like a frat boy... but older.
One of the best lecturers I've had all year! He's like a small child and tells great stories that you remember on the exams. Attendance isn't mandatory, but it definitely helps on the exams! He's not always clear on the topics that will be covered on the exam, but he's still worth taking!
Grown-up frat boy. He doesn't cover any material from the tests, just gives you a study guide. The lab is where you put in most of the work. He is a nice guy, but doesn't really teach you much from the the Comm textbook.
He really is a grown up Frat boy, but he's reallllly funny. I went to class just because of his personal stories. I learned nothing in lecture, but lab was where I put in my work. Go to lab for work, go to lecture for story time. Take Eddie, he's a lot of fun.
Eddie is the best! All he does in class is tell stories and he sends out a study guide later. He's hilarious and the exams are pretty easy :)
Hilarious professor! Tells stories to get the material across. He emails a study guide for each test, and the tests are easy. Textbook isn't necessary. Would highly recommend him for this class!
Eddie is the man and doesn't care what you do as long as you're there for the tests
Eddie is one of the nicest professors at Clemson, and his class is pretty easy. The only drawback is trying to communicate with Eddie, good luck with that! If you have the opportunity to take his class, do it! He's just a grown up college student who is really down to Earth. Don't try to communicate with him, even if he is a comm professor.
You have to go to class but it is so easy. The lab portion of the comm class is easy too, even if you are bad at public speaking you will get an A. His stories are random but really funny so at least you'll be entertained
Overall a great professor! Absolutely hysterical and easy to listen to. The lectures helped for the tests but not as much as just studying vocab for an hour would have, still I highly recommend you take him.
Really difficult to communicate with. Super nice guy with funny stories, but doesn't follow up well at all. I think he cares, but just doesn't have good organizational or time management skills. Wish he would have responded to my emails because it may have affected the classes I take next semester.
He is prob my favorite professor at Clemson. I actually enjoyed attending his class. He told stories and made us laugh and is super nice. During the tests, if you wait until you are one of the last people there, he will help you a lot with some of the questions. Definitely take him!
Yes, his lectures are entertaining but you do not learn anything in them. Study from the textbook--almost all test questions are "according to the text..." or "the text defines...". Entertaining teacher, but you will learn everything on your own. He never keeps you more than an hour. Managed to get an A even with a low C on the first test.
Seems like an alright guy. Class is really easy, and the tests come almost completely from the text. Attend the lectures because he gives extra credit if you sign in a bunch. Lab is easy also, just make sure you pay attention to the guidelines they give you.
Awesome Guy! Great professor! Really cares about his students!
Eddie is a really cool guy and his class is really entertaining. Definitely take him if you have to take Comm 150!
There's not a lot to say, but Eddie Smith was the easiest and coolest professor. EVER.
Eddie is great! His lectures are fun and entertaining. They usually only last about 45 minutes so don't worry about registering for the long time slot. Attendance isn't mandatory. I went about half the time and got an A.
You literally learn nothing in class. He does take attendance, but if you miss class, you won't miss any material. He babbles about random stuff and barely covers anything, but his stories are rather humorous. He gives a review sheet and the tests are almost exactly off the review sheet. He's a funny dude.
The lecture portion of this comm class is not too hard. Just look over vocabulary. He gives very good study guides. The lab portion (speech writing) is challenging.
Eddie is such a funny guy! Basically a grandpa living in a frat-boy's mind. Going to class and taking notes is definitely not necessary to doing well on the test, because he sends out a study guide with all of the terms that you need to know. Overall he's a great person and a fun lecturer.
I liked him as person but not as a teacher. Would always let us out early but did not teach us much. Really is a self-taught class.
Eddie is a funny guy. His class is easy but you should probably read the book, or at least attend class. Class isn't so bad since he's so entertaining, so you might as well go. He is, however, pretty scatter brained and does not post grades.
Eddie is a great human being. He is one of the few professors that actually cares about his students and shows it too. He does not require attendance, but I always enjoyed going to lectures just to hear what story he was going to tell next. If you need help, he is going to be there to help you; it's just hard to find him or get in touch with him.
Eddie is super nice and funny. There is basically no point in going to lecture, because he doesn't teach the material. However, this doesn't really matter because the material is extremely easy. This was by far my easiest class. Tests were a breeze. Would definitely recommend as a way to an easy A.
Eddie is the nicest guy I have ever met. He is so laid back and will help ANY student with WHATEVER they may need. Great guy. 10/10
Eddie is so awesome. His class is a breeze. You don't even have to go, but it does help if needed! He honestly cancels a lot so if you go when class is held it still isn't time consuming. He never makes you sit there for the full 2 hours. His study guides are awesome.
THE BEST EVER. Only a few assignments, lots of guest speakers and HE CARES. If you ask him a question about your classes or major he takes time and helps. He helped get me out of a failing class and into a new one. THE BEST FOR REAL.
Very nice but can sometimes be hard to get ahold of and is often not in his office during posted office hours. Class itself is not hard but he is very unclear about assignment deadlines.
Eddie Smith has been my favorite professor yet at Clemson. He is hilarious and easily keeps your attention during lectures. He always lets you out of class early and there are very few assignments. Highly recommend for Comm 1500!
Eddie is my favorite professor! He's very accessible - he responds to emails within 24hrs and will find a way to fit you in if you need to meet in person. COMM 1010 is a super easy Pass/Fail course. There's only 3 assignments, so as long as you do them all you will pass the class.
Eddie is such a funny guy. Class consists of him telling stories about his life. Going to class is kinda pointless, but it is very entertaining, so I always went. Two tests and a final. Don'y buy the textbook; he posts study guides with all the vocabulary. If you look over the vocabulary, you will do well on the tests. Class lasts 45 mins at most.
I feel like I didn't get as much out of this class as I maybe should have. I wish we had covered a wider range of information related to the Communications major/field rather than focusing on study abroad/internships.
I promise you, this is the easiest class you could take. He always lets you go early, and he cancels class quite often. I barely went to class and made a solid A.
Just listening to Eddie speak inspires me to be a better speaker. He can be crass with his jokes sometimes, but for the most part he is just plain funny. Best stories out there. BUT the tests have nothing to do with his lectures--they are off the book (which I never read), but if you know the vocab in the study guides this class is an easy A.
Best class and professor I have ever had! Eddies classes are fun and he lets you out early every time. Easy A, know vocab for tests.
This dude is funny as heck and understands the young adult's way of thinking. The tests are really important to pass the class though.
super funny lectures, cancels class a lot, always ends class early. you do not need to go to class because he posts study guides with exactly what will be on the tests two weeks in advance, but going to class is honestly entertaining because he just tells funny stories. pls take this man
