you are a genius if you can actually finish all his assignments and tests!

EXCELLENT @ explaining concepts/ideas, gives assignmentS,quizzeS & project
he is a good teacher, can explain clearly, but his midterms are so difficult!!!
clear examples, answers students' questions, good overall

not a math person, work my butt off 4 a B, lots assignements, tough/long mt
Very tough homework... but his notes are useful
Tough course but he is good at explaining things and is very patient, good guy
Try to understand the theory before attempting to do the questions
concise, well-structured notes and lectures, very approachable
very nice teacher, clever, clear. i took two secetions in his class. good handwriting. funny!:)
good teacher overall, hard midterms!
great at explaining concepts
excellent notes, great at explaining.
very clear and detailed in explinations, weekly quizzes and assignments, long midterms. very nice handwriting.
nice, approachable, notes is like a bible stick to it, A is guarranted!
best math instructor ever, great notes and examples, friendly too
very helpful but says "FOLKS" like 20 times in 10 minutes............ his exams are from his practice questions and assignments
He cannot put his words into a sentence that "make sense"!! He copies everything out of the book!! He closed his office door while I needed help!! He is not a friendly teacher!! I think he's also a ****~!
his class was alright, but he keeps on bugging you to get extrahelp etc. even if u doing alright. Class was not very interesting or helpful.
he knows his stuff
He certainly does know his math, so he tends to be fast paced. Just be aware of mistakes he occasionally makes while working out problems on the board. Attend class, do practice problems, and approach him in his office for help, and you should do ok.
It takes a while to get on his wave, but he's a great teacher. Hard as heck, really likes to challenge you, but good. Very fair. I learned quite a bit from him.
He sucks~ and is not a fair teacher
Don't let the height fool you, this man is friendly at first and gradually becomes a dick. His sentence structure doesn't make sense and he makes a lot of mistakes while teaching. His exams are unfair b/c he doesn't know how to teach & tests unfair.
His sentences do not make sense and he sometimes doesn't know how to answer a question from the text book!! He always says "Should we do this or do that," "Folks," "Let's not bother with this or that."
Very unfair and hard exams. avoid.

He does not know English at all. Don't take the course he teaches. He is insane. He makes wrong homework questions, then a day before its due says that the question should be changed. He has a very idiot marker -probably his wife.
He is very unfair. Avoid his class. Edgar makes many mistakes. Poor man knows nothing about calculus. He is friendly with some particular girls!! don't be a fool- he hurts you by decreasing your mark 30% lower than what you deserve.
HE IS THE WORST TEACHER. HE DOES NOT KNOW MATH OR CALCULUS. Once he wrote "2+2=5" on the board.- All his students expect low marks -Disastrous
Awesome teacher, really clear and precise notes. What are you guys talking about?...he has great english. Challenging assignments but it really prepares you for the midterms and finals.
Worst teacher ever. Avoid
Not understanding, mean- laughs as you...Has a bad marker. He isn't clear. {Edgar, don't vote for yourself !}
Not clear, unfriendly, bad way of marking. He sometimes answers your question very well, however, sometimes complicates things. He doesn't hint regarding exams.
He is great, the best Math teacher I have ever had!!! His marks are not too high but the course is a pain itself. Very clear, loves you if you interact in class and office hours. Do your assignment or you won't pass the midterms. Overall a good 9 over 10!
He is a bad teacher. He is selfish, and gets mad if you tell him his mistakes. He does not give me fair marks(unreasonably),so I hate him.
Bad manner- What's wrong with him? If you're an intelligent student, Edgar hates you------Maybe he does not want to help!!!
He gives low low marks. He is very unclear to most students. Watch out !
QUIZ is not too hard but mid-term is hard.
The best math prof I've ever had.His explanation is very CLEAR,and he is a very fair marker too.Just study his notes and do the practice questions he assigned ,and I gurantee you will do fine in all his tests.Trust me!
Like math with lots intrepretations. Nice guy and he explains the material really well.
Edgar is sometimes tough on marking, but he teaches very well. He is clear and answers all of questions. He is mostly preferred.
Edgar is a good teacher.very organized in his teching, not a good marker though! If you are about to take Stat 1124,goahead,he is the one!
Edgar is a good teacher, but his marker is insane. His fatuous marker does not know math at all.Every time I get my homework back, I complain and get up to 5 extra marks (because his marker does not know how to count)
He is Good instructor(but unfriendly with boys). He has the worst marker I've ever seen. His marker drives all crazy but Edgar keeps her because she is cute to him !
He is a good and nice teacher. If most students did wrong on a ques. in the MT, he'll give you a chance to redo it. If you did all the hw b4 the quiz and all the practice ques. b4 the MT, you will get A easily!
He is helpful and responsible. His marker makes many mistakes.Overall,he helps students to pass, but he doesn't let you get A+.
Very organized teacher, good and tidy notes. Midterms r not very hard if you study from notes and assignments. Best math teacher at langara :)
The BEST math instructor at Langara. I LOVE math now and he made it so easy to understand. I recommend him to all my friends regularly. Thank you, Edgar!
Good teacher, passionate about his work. Takes time with students.
He doesn't looks like an instructor but he is a great teacher. clear and easy to understand. Lot better than Bures
Very helpful esp during oh, strict marker, passionate in teaching, know all his students names, nicer to girls, great teacher.
Everyone dreads Stats but he gets so excited about it I'm a bit embarrased to say he made it interesting. Clear, detailed notes, and encourages questions, has tons of office hours, etc. Possibly best teacher I've had.
I've done his course b4. It seems like it's easy and understandable at first but as time goes U'll soon find U're getting end up with some difficulties. Be careful~!!
hard test; hard marker, but lecture is good
he doesn't know how to teach ,just know how to remember students' names .exames are stupid and funny . harder marker too .
Hard midterms.Fair homeworks. good marker. Edgar is helpful but he is very hard on midterms and final.
He is a fool and does not know math. also very unfriendly. kicks all out of his office hole. You are on your own.
Excellent teacher, good notes and quizzes.Fair midterms. He is very helpful and approachable.Always makes sure u understand.Love u Edgar! He is the best for stats, trust me!
He is very disrespectful and angry all the time. He should learn good manners, then math basics!
Avoid or regret. Disrespectful Indonesian guy does not know what he is saying. Does not know English, yet wants to cut your head and argue. Expect so much work and low low results.

Midterms and final are hard, however he gives good notes. He is very helpful; he will put midterms and homework answer keys in the library. Over all I enjoyed his teaching, althought i only got a B- for this course since I didn't study for the midterms and final properly.
Very good teacher. This course is not straight forward so it requires a lot of practice. He will help you if you show interest. Don't miss any class because some important material covered is not in the book. I definitely recommend this teacher. Mids finals w/open book. Study from his notes!
definetly go to every class (he keeps track) and you have to visit him outside of class and show that you are trying but then you will be rewarded with a higher grade, not one of the best, but not the worst either and hes better than the Eli
He was the best prof I've ever had! I've never seen a prof with such clarity and enthusiasm; he knows what he is doing, he is very keen on the subject and his notes are very helpful. Some say his tests are hard but if you go to class and listen to him, you can ace it but if your English is very poor, you may have a hard time acing the tests.
Awesome prof. Gives clear and concise notes. Very helpful and understanding. Makes learning a boring subject much more interesting. He's kind of kooky, but you appreciate it.

very good guy. knows his calculus. i learned a lot from his differential calculus class. i am now finishing up my mechanical engineering degree and i still use the concepts i've learned in his class in everyday studying.
You are a very good teacher, Edgar!
Edgar explains well and has good notes. However, he is too hard on marking exams. So do not expect an A+ from him. He has a bad temper and gets mad easily so try to avoid going to his office.
Edgar is a clear good teacher but is not very friendly. He is a hard marker too.
Edgar gives very clear and precise notes in class. He stops to make sure that everyone gets it and when he asks, "Does everybody understand?" he means it. However, he has quite high expectations and requires precise answers. Don't add aditional information to your answers if you're only partially sure it's right. Stick to a clear interpretation.
I took calc2 with him long time ago.He gave me a great deal of knowledge as well as encouraging me,and later on I did very well on more advanced calculus subjects. He is straight forward, clear and organized and camparably recommended.

Edgar is so mad. Hates good students very much and never wants so see a student's success...smoky smoke blows fuse
he is responsible teacher, he gets patience, passion and good temper. be careful his interpretion! good explaintion is required. overall, excellent teacher!
I fell in love with his teaching during the first day, because his approach to stats is THAT clear. Very concise notes, text not needed. Stats is hard, but he teaches it well. He's rather nitpicky about wording of interpretations, but he wants you to learn. He's not the talking type, so be direct when you talk to him. Hard quizzes, fair tests.:)
If you aren't weak in english I highly recommend taking this teacher, he is VERY clear and I havn't used the book at all but only his notes. The people in my class that were weak in english seemed to get low marks but that may be for every stats course.
he's a good instructor
This teacher is a very nice guy, and he knows math very well. Learne alot from being in his class so pay attention, and very fun to be their as well even during summer time. He is very clear and fair and wants you to do well . His tests are fair, and you will learne more then enough of calc. However, he is really picky for the correct anwser fortest
He has several cognitive biases that make him unsuitable to be a real instructor. He uses this site as an example of response bias. Yet overlooks his own arrogant, manipulative, and delusional behaviour. His notes are useless for exams, does not answer questions, and does not give solutions to all assignments. We even had an extra class.
I took him for stat 1181 in the summer and waited for him in the spring to take his stat 2225 course. It's worth the wait, because stat 2225 is NOT easy, but he explains it with clarity. You can succeed by studying his notes.. and reading the text a little. Edgar works really hard! He's kinda funny, makes stats more bearable. He's nice, take him!

Best statistics professor ever! His approach at explaining is super clear and easy to understand, with concise notes. Though he is a hard marker, and his midterms are hard, if you put the effort into this course, you will do decent. Make an effort to see him in his office. He's a nice guy, and even makes stats fun! DO do the assignments! Take him
Avelino's class is interesting. He might be picky in his markings but if he sees that u did put in efforts throughout the entire semester, he will gladly give u the marks. Overall, he is a pretty good instructor!
I took both stat1181 & Calc1271 in this spring term. He is an excellent instructor. You shouldn't miss his lecture.
This teacher tries hard to explain the ideas, but sometimes thats not enough to solve some of the questions he dishes out. Better use of WebCT to post hints and tips and solutions would be helpful.
He is a very concise and clear teacher but I hate his attitude. He is a REALLY hard marker and his tests are extremely hard. For both midterms, I had trouble finishing them within the time limit even with 2 sides of help sheet for each exam. I wouldn't recommend taking him, he's just horrible.
This teacher is excellent. Clear and complete notes, lots of exercise, and good explanation. Dont miss this teacher... You will regret.
He is hard, but if you really pay attention, it is OK. And it is very good to keep asking him questions in office hours. He is crystal clear and very helpful.
Hey! If you want to take the best prof for stat, this is the guy you should first consider!!! I took his stat last term and got an A for it. His notes are super, and, do you believe, he knows all his notes in his mind!! Gosh! He is so clear, so helpful, and always willing to solve your problems.Highly recommond him.
hard course but if you pay attention to his notes and lectures you should do fine!!he's very helpful and willing to answer your questions in detail!
I took my first STAT course with him and I think I made the right choice. I'm impressed that he can pull clear, concise notes out of his head and word it in a way that I can understand. For some reason, it's one of the morning classes that I don't fall asleep in. Make use of his office hours, it's there for a reason.
If you go to class, take notes, do the practice questions, and ask questions during office hours/MAC hours, it is very likely you could get an A+. He is fair and a very informative, knowledgable teacher that I would recommend to anyone.
If you have an assignment and exam doing same question and 1 is marked right and 1 is wrong you won't get the mark because his marking is VERY inconsistent
One of the best profs at Langara by far.. He has a different marker so check your marks. Pretty stern guy but again on of the best profs at Langara. The first class I didn't really use the textbook, just his notes..
i still dont know why my friend got A, but i only got B-, we have same grad level and we did project together. He usually went to his office and asked lots of questions.but i didnot, so i think it is unfair!
He teaches well but makes you feel dumb.
Great prof do wut he says and u will do great. Ppl who say he is bad cuz they don't work.
he s funny with his "hey folks" "hello" "anybody" in class. he s trying to make students participate more. he uses computer quite a lot , to show the graphs and zoom in. this way students get better images in their mind. he makes class esier. his tests r fair , not that diff, as long as u attend classes n do assignments.
Avoid if possible. Very inconsistent marking, and very picky marker. Refuses to give mark even if you're in the right. When you ask him in office hour, makes excuses why you don't deserve the mark.
HARD, marks hard, if you miss one important word, u're screwed. Anyhow I got a B but I worked for it. After the first few quizzes, u will know what he's looking for.
He is very helpful and always available during office ours. Doesn't mind taking time to explain things a couple of times. His explanations are very clear and he goes nice and slow over difficult parts. Definitely don't want to miss class.
it seems to me that he himself has just memorized the course, because he talks a lot, but never finishes any of the examples and rushes through the material. his fave phrase is "let me not bother finishing this question folks" and "this is easy folks"
He's everything but a good teacher
Great teacher, genuinely wants you to succeed and is willing to help if you have the same goal! Taking 1173 as opposed to 1171 is a good move if algebra is your problem. Its another credit, but totally worth it!
He has trouble understanding that not everyone is amazing at math. I personally like it, but did not like him. I wish he would give practice exams. He also doesn't finish in class examples. TB is not mandatory so don't bother. Exams are hard.
Clear explanations but very hard marker
From the way he teaches, you might as well look at the textbook examples.
we learned a lot of extra things that were never on the final and rushed through sequences and series in the last 2week... very disorganized and never completes a single example in class
good notes and examples; however, he's a hard marker.
Great teacher, really helpful if you stop by his office hours. Notes are really clear, and tests are fair. I didn't think he marked too hard on his tests, but the labs for the CAS portion were marked really tough.
He's not helpful during his office hours, but if he likes you, he will help you a lot! If he doesn't likes you, he won't help you.
His exams are completely unrelated to his notes. His final exam was just ridiculous and I am usually good at math. He is not a nice person. He never finishes a single example. "Let me not bother finishing this question, folks." was his most popular phrase. I would not recommend him at all.
His exam questions are not related to his notes at all! His final exam was so hard and I am usually good at math. He is not a nice person. He never finishes a single example. "Let me not bother finishing this question, folks." was his most popular phrase. I would not recommend him at all.
He's interesting, so are his classes. He goes through questions very quickly, so be prepare to go to his lectures. But pay attention to any of his tests and quizes (especially midterms and finals), they are more difficult than his assignments. You can't feel he's nice when you are taking his exams.
He rocks! But it helps if you love math and enjoy problem-solving. If you don't, why are you taking this course?
very clear and helpful notes. exams are pretty much the same as paper assignments. most of the questions on the tests are from his notes but there were one or two new problems in midterms and final exam
Very nice.
His quizzes and exams are not hard, but the questions he put in the quizzes are too many. Anyway, even though you are good at math, if you can't finish a exam in a limited time, you'd better not to take his courses unless you don't want to get A+. getting A is pretty easy
Great teacher!
The only way to get a FULL mark on question he throws at you is memorizing EVERY WORD of examples in your notes. I've warned you. And don't take his course if you don't like 'folks' word lol Overall, he is a nice guy and always willing to help you.
Nice guy, always willing to help students. Use office hours and the MAC for help, he loves it when you do :) His midterms and finals are long, he likes it when you use exact words from his notes when stating anything!! hard marker, State everything exactly like his notes
If you ever struggle in his class, PLEASE ask him for help at the MAC! He is very kind and willing to help when it is needed. I struggled until I went to the MAC & ended up doing really well 2nd half of the course. Pay close attention to things repeated in class, do the practices questions, and go over your notes thoroughly! Good luck! ( :
he's a nice teacher, but you gotta attend class cuz lts of material are in copied in class. I took it in summer and he wants u to memorize every single word in order to get full mark. He's a hard marker no doubt, but if your willing ti play the memorization game then your good to go. However, I would recommend him he is a great teacher.
difficult but no surprises. all exam questions are covered in assigned practice problems/homework. i strugged in the beginning but managed to walk out with a 90%. his lectures are excellent but again, quizzes and such are very difficult. good wakeup call for high school students.
His class is fine but you have to spend a lot of time practice in order to have a better grade. Labs and second mid-term are so hard... Good luck with that.
Good teacher, not an easy marker. If you are willing to put in a lot of time studying, you'll be ok Weekly quizzes keep you on track for the midterm. Midterms are one hour, and too long for the amount of time given. Good teacher, always willing to help. Don't buy the book, you'll have to buy statsportal which has the online book anyways.
He's a details teacher. If you are willing to put in a ton of effort, then his assignments, quizzes, and exams are easy. His notes are basically your key to success so make sure you attend class regularly and read them dilligently. Use office hours whenever things are unclear. Revising an hour a day will lead you to success.
Easy to understand. Open minded. FLEXIBLE OFFICE HOUR. His class is good to go.
Even though calculus is super boring and tough for me, Mr. Edgar really made things easier. And I didn't do well in two midterms but I managed to made it up by doing better in the final. Definitely recommend this awesome instructor.
He's willing to help, if you're willing to put in the effort. He knows you're trying if you go to his office hrs and MAC to ask him questions through out the semester, not after your 2nd midterm or before the final. He gives very detailed notes. It always help to review your notes before doing your assignments.
Went from A's in Math to barely passing Calculus I. I found Edgar condescending and rude, and some other students were too scared to ask him for help. If you're doing well or a natural math genius he's fine. I passed but should have withdrawn and tried later with a different teacher I could actually talk to.
Edgar is the MAN. He is an excellent teacher who goes out of his way to prepare you for success. His lectures are clear, his notes outstanding, he is incredibly patient and always happy to clarify and answer questions. By far the best math professor at Langara, I highly, highly recommend him. If I could take all of my math classes with him I would.
His notes are very clear. I found that studying his notes are more helpful than the text. Do the assignments they're good practice. What he constantly repeats in class is very important to remember. And if you need help or don't understand anything ask for help ASAP because if you don't you'll just get lost. Also, learn the interpretations!
Edgar is one of the great instructor in Langara. Highly recommonded him.
Langara is known to have bad math profs but Edgar is one of the few good ones. That said you have to put A LOT of work to do well. There was way too much homework assigned and he does it to make sure you keep up but when you're taking 4 courses its too much. Offers a lot of help in his office hours and in the MAC. Also get used to the word "folks"
Edgar's notes are easy to follow. However, he has a very different teaching style but you can understand him. His quizzes, 2nd midterm were very challenging and that's why I found the final to be different. I had to memorize his words for my answers because he wanted so. He was not very helpful in Mac nor with the long group project assignment.
Edgar I really like him. Before I took Math course with him, in my whole life I hated function. But since I am with him, I followed his advise. Now I am the one really wants to learn more about functions. Take his course, learn from you heart. Read more ask more, do more exercise. You will be fine.
He's like the Mr. Hand of Langara from Fast Times at Ridgemond High, if that helps. His in-class notes are easy to follow and his tests are straightforward. getting a high grade isn't too hard, you just have to stay consistent with your work ethic. My advice for this class is the same as Edgar's: do the weekly assignments diligently!
He is a fun guy! I enjoyed his lectures, even though I am not really into stats... He is a tough marker though, but he cares about his students, so any time you need help - just go to his office to ask for extra help.
