By far the most boring professor at Pace, very unclear grading policies, especially on projects, uses the oldest textbooks on earth, insanely hard and long exams... simply put: stay away from Ducasse!!!!!
Extremely narrow minded; tests are extremely unclear and definitely not written in understandable english; he puts you to sleep within five minutes, need I say more??
He talks about making stews and throwing in red herring in relation to algorithms????? What the hell is this guy doing as a professor?????
I graduate from Pace 2 years ago, i still have nightmares whether I think of him. Everyone used to sleep in his class, do not buy a book, you'll never use it, jut make sure you do not fall asleep during his class because tests come from his notes.
avoid him at all costs, st. hilaire teaches 381 in the spring and he is clearly better and EASIER, ducasse will only bring your gpa tumbling down.
Just a brutal professor in every way: brutally boring, brutal exams (class average on midterm was in the 50's), brutal projects... just avoid him at all cost!
I lapsed into coma a few times during the semster. His test are tricky and his projects are not easy but if your an IS or CS major you can handle him.
WOW, I never knew the prof can be so slow, and I never knew voice alone can put me to bed. I am gald they took out CObol, and well 381 HAve fun. HAHAHAHA
OMG this and COBOL are the worst... and he's one of the few that teach it... thank the lord for those new students that can avoid him

Very poor quality of teaching. Midterm grades are poor. Unclear test questions. What the hell is pace coming to? where are all the good teachers that use to be here ? why the hell are we being put through hell? THis is just a waste of money!!!
This guy is incredibly boring. Hes not stupid though. His tests are tricky, and he writes them by hand in hard to read cursive writing. It seems he is more interested in tricking you than teaching you.

He is the worst professor ever. Your pretty much on your own when it comes to this class. And forget about tests. It seems like im ready Japanese cuz the questions are not clear. DO NOT TAKE HIM. But if u want to catch up on sleep, then i recommend.

Boring class, boring professor, and a hard grader.
Unless you enjoy taking $2000 naps, do not take this guy. He’s a scary Ben Stein (guy from Ferris Beuller and the clear eyes commercials) knock off. I swear I have no clue what he was trying to teach, I’m thankful I crawled away with a D.
This man has no sense of humor what so ever, and he is a verrrryy slow teacher. Repeats himself over and over AND OVER, and his writing is very messy. Hard grader and quiet talker. Puts you right to sleep. I passed somehow.

He is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. He doesnt teach, all he does is stand infront of the class and talk about how hard the work is and how it took him 2 hours to do it. He assigns projects but never explains what he wants you to do for it. He is sooooo boring.

It's not the end of the world if you get Ducasse! He's boring and monotonous, but he's easy. He allows you to submit assignments nearly to the last week of class and will give you full credit (if it's done correctly). Ask questions if you're confused and he'll notice you and give you a 100 for participation. I got an A and had no idea what to do.
WORST TEACHER EVER! The tests are beyond impossible no matter how hard you study. He promised me a B+ and gave me a C b/c i got into a fight with him during the final becuase it was on paper for a cis101 class! SO BORING.i spent everyday in class watching Beyonce's "Irreplaceable" on Youtube."to the left, to the left" was the best part of the class

He is a kind guy, soft spoken, but not not piss him off, he will kick you out of class. Do not take advantage of his "attendence not necessary policy" he does keep track. THE CLASS IS BORING though. I like him, but I need my coffee to stay awake. You will not understand what he is teaching because he uses tooooo many techinical terms, read the test
From the first day of class I knew it was going to be a disaster. He comes into class late and says, "I have not taught this course in 30 years so I may be a little rusty." Hes monotone, quiet, and obsessed with critiquing the textbook. Smart guy, knows what he is doing but his teaching style is terrible. Make sure you read his tests carefully.
He is boring and he wastes a lot of time. I found his tests really easy. Just go over th book a few days before each exam and you'll do fine. He gives you formulas and everything you need to do good. He also curves a lot. I hate math and ended up with a B. If your major involves a lot of math take some1 else, if not...take him. Nice guy!
He is such a soft spoken man and extremely nice. However, he teaches from the textbook and is super boring! His tests are mostly from Dr. Preiss's tests containing only 20 questions. His second test had questions from his first which was awesome
Attendance is mandatory! He will tell you many times that it is not but he lied. He takes attendance. You will come to class and get bored and he will convince you not to come to class because attendance is not mandatory. He tell you that you can leave but then attendance is 10% of your grade!
okay professor, very boring and slow, really just puts the examples and notes on the board doesn't explain or elaborate,like previously stated he will just pass around attendece and say you can leave but he counts it, its up to you to get a good grade

This class was pretty boring, but i hate math to begin with. The tests are really easy if you just study the examples he gives in class and take notes, most of the examples are on the tests. The only hard part is the final which is not curved and is a state test so if you fail it, you fail the class. USE THE MOCK EXAM!!!! You should do fine.
i HATE math with a passion so obviously you know i didnt enjoy his class. he was extreamly boring and went over problems that wasnt even gona be on the test. i hardly went to class i just had my friends sign me in and he didnt even noe i was there cause he didnt noe anyones name.
BORING! He is slow and encourages you not to come to class if you dont want to. Only gives a midterm and a final. If you go in for the review of the tests, he gives you the exact questions/process. Learn it on your own and dont waste your time in class.
Everyone is so harsh! Yes his class is very tedious but he goes over every problem. He is also very nice and will answer any questions. Although he teaches slowly, he teaches everything that must be learned for the final, in full detail.

He really is a good teacher, it shows that he knows what he is teaching. Yeah he talks a little bit too much but he's helpful and goes over all the questions on the exams, which btw are easy. Take him if you want an easy A.
He is very sweet, although the lectures are boring , its an easy A and he is not strict with attendance. If you want to lear , don't take this class. Gives no homework. The class overall is not bad , and he is very knowledgable.
Love this guy. Such a nice person idk how you could dislike him. My only complaint is hes soft spoken so if you want to hear him sit in the front. He basically gives you the test to study. You could come an hour late to class everyday and he wouldnt give you anything. He likes telling jokes. Would definitely recommend. Dont buy books
I love this guy! He is what a professor should be ! He is there for his students even if you blow him off by bein on your phone the entire class. Says EXACTLY what is on the test. His practice test was the actual test.
Nice man but BORING CLASS. I wasn't able to keep myself into the class because he's so monotone and quiet. He's nice, I felt bad because people would always walk out of the class after they sign attendance. There's no hw. Final counts like a regular test. If you fail the final or sees you cheating he will completely lose his nice. DO NOT BUY BOOK
He is a terrible professor, he is too old to be teaching & doesn't teach the material correctly. He just does the problems on the board and does not explain what he is doing. All he does is pass around an attendance sheet, you sign your name and he doesn't care if you stay. 1 midterm, 1 final (both 20 multiple choice) no HW. no calculators
No very helpful. Your grade is tests and a final, so it's pretty much a pass/fail class. He does easy problems in class, but will put more complex problems on the test which he never showed how to do. He has good intentions, but unless you're a math genius and can teach yourself you're most likely gonna struggle.
He is very slow and sometimes hard to understand unless you sit in the front. But the final is pretty much gone over in class, so if you listen and take notes and DEFINITELY study his study guide, you will pass. He is so kind and cares about everyone even if you sit on your phone the entire time.
He is very soft spoken, he is a nice guy just old and doesn't know how to engage the class. If you ask for help outside of class he is more than willing to help. The text books are optional and there is never homework. If you are willing to write down notes and go to the tutoring center, it is an easy A.
I agree he is quite soft spoken but on the other hand he goes over the relevant stuff (questions that will exactly be on the tests,midterm and the final) and if you ever need help he will be more than willing to help out.

Professor DuCasse was a pretty good professor. 75% of my class didn't even show up because sometimes his lectures can get boring, but if you show up to class it is heavily reflected in your grade. If you go to class, he basically goes through the entire test, question by question. If you have questions, he will help you and cares about his students

DO NOT BUY TEXTBOOK ! If you have a hard time with math, I suggest you drop it cause hes a great professor but his teaching style is not clear. Attendance isnt mandatory but he does pass around a sign-in sheet. You could sign it and then leave to be honest.
He is a slow and rather silent professor but the sweetest! He makes small jokes all the time and his test are very easy if you follow his lectures. He asks exactly what he teaches in class. No need to buy textbook.
He is a sweet man, but a pretty awful prof! He counts for participation, but it is not really about your attendance. The only reason he counts for participation is because he is incredibly strict about how people are in his class. If you yawn too loudly, or open a wrapper, he will stop and threaten your participation points.
Sweet Man but he speaks in Monotone and tends to steer off the subject often! Dont take him unless you are pretty good at Algebra !
Professor Ducasse is a very nice man, but his class is sooooooo boring. He talks to himself the entire class but he goes though the test questions one by one. Your entire grade is based on only 3 test grades. Attendance is not mandatory. You do not need to buy the textbook. No homework. I would probably take him again
professor ducasse is a very nice man but his class is absolutely dreadful. the material isnt made clear and he continuously drones on about things that arent relevant at all. no one in my class ever had any idea what was going on. the material isnt difficult but the way that he teaches it is absolutely awful.
He is 100% asocial; monotones soliloquoy; disconnects and ignores others-not even aware they're there. very slow, plodding and fails to keeps promises because he talks to himself and forgets what he said. he is painstakingly detailed picky so if you make any error you will lose big points. students are auxiliary-irrelevant. Avoid; picky and petty
Old professor who is difficult to understand. Super nice guy, but when it comes to your education, there are some better options out there despite the school's lacking math department.

Hes super old and just doing the bare minimum of his job but its cool bc all he does is go over whats on the tests he gives. You dont have to attend class or buy the book. His voice is super low since hes 100 y/o and can go over three problems in a span of two hours but if you dont understand something and ask questions he explains well.
A nice man but to be honest he is way too old to be teaching and very unhelpful when it comes to teaching material. I ended up having to reteach myself everything and then I did not even do well in the class. He also refuses to give extra credit.
I wouldn't recommend taking this professor. The class was boring and the concepts were not always explained well. The majority of the class never shows up except for the 2 tests and final. The class wasn't hard but the majority of people who didn't show up never did well on the tests. It's hard to gather up the motivation to go to his class.
