He works off the easiest examples in the book and when you get to the hard HW prob. you're left confused. Clarity wasn't great. He cares about his students,so that's a plus. He just has to cram so much into 130 which isn't possible at times and leads him to rush a section. Lots of self-studying will be involved. Not the best math teach
He's a nice guy, but you can clearly tell he hasn't been at this very long. If you already know how to do statistics or are pretty good with math and are just going through the motions, you'll be okay. However, if you will actually need to learn go elsewhere
Niciest guy ever! super glad i got to take his class. he is super funny and loves to help you out!
Very nice professor but has only been a full-time teacher since the last six months at the time of this review. His lectures are very impacted, leaving some of the material rushed through. Your grade is based almost entirely off of tests and the final, homework is only 40 of 510 points possible. Fair amount of self-teaching from the book needed.
Take home quizzes were 1 or 2 ques., tests were short and to the point, and he drops lowest test score. Math 8 is not for the faint of heart, but he did great! Super duper awesome professor! He's hilarious, which keeps the class tuned in. He should spike the math dept's morning coffee with a dose of humor, cuz they could use it! Hail Haley!
Edgar Haley is by far the best math professor I have encountered at Saddleback. He teaches with genuine passion and care for his students. Beyond that, his corky attitude and witty remarks and jokes about math left me belly-laughing almost every class. This professor strives for every one of his students to have a great experienceHIGHLY RECOMMENDED
By far the best Math Professor ever, He is very young but he really cares for his students... I Recommend him to everyone who needs Stats.
He is nice, but the material is boring. The homework grade or one of the first four exam grades is dropped at the end of the course. To pass; show up, do the homework (if you want), and study for the exams.
Great Professor! Liked his class and his stupid, yet funny humor. Willing to help students whenever possible and takes time to answer questions. For being a young professor he teaches a difficult topic quite well. Attend class and pay attention, no mandatory homework but good practice if you're trying to get a good grade!
Ed was very helpful and understanding!! His personality is the best. Gives you a page full of notes for every test and also drops lowest quiz and test score. The quizzes are done at home for homework and then brought into class, and the homework isn't mandatory to do.Class overrall was really well paced and he's always willing to help.
He makes math understandable and has a dorky sense of humor. He's really chill and has no problem owning up to his mistakes. Homework is an option 10% of your grades. If your homework brings you down, he just uses your quizzestest grades as your actual grade. He drops 1 test and the 2 lowest quizzes. He's great. Take him.
Ed is Absolutely AWESOME. As a declared math major, I'm really grateful to have been taught calculus by Ed. He's hilarious. He's very fair. Your grade is based on your ability to perform the calculus. One of my FAVORITE teachers at Saddleback.
We had him as a substitute just for one session, but I was so impressed by his method of teaching. He is very knowledgable and helpful. He teaches very clearly and has a good sense of humor for math. He makes the calculus tangible and interesting.
Weekly quizzes, 4 exams . Quizzes and exams were short, which means that you lose lots of points for every missed problem. Exam questions were often tricky. 10 % for online homework, 10 % for quizzes 80 % for exams. No extra credit! Young and funny professor, but I would only recommend his class to people with good math skills.
I took pre calc at high school, and I was placed to math 2. He's really nice and funny, but seriously, he could have done better job with teaching. He is a good teacher, you think you understand the concept but when you are alone to study, you are totally lost, maybe it's just me. I dont recommend him to students who struggle with math... like me.
He has a quiz every week, 4 exams, and daily homework assignments online which are optional. No extra credit. I found his quizzes and tests to be extremely hard because his test problems are worded completely different from what you find on the homework. I also found his teaching and explanations very hard to follow. Struggled a lot in his class.
Professor Haley is a great teacher. His lectures are extremely organized and he teaches the material really well. He also makes the material understandable and is extremely helpful if you don't get it. He's super funny which makes class go by faster. Study hard for the exams and expect to put a lot of work and time into the class for a good grade.
Prof. Haley is funny but be aware that he uses trick questions in quizzes and exams. Quizzes and exams are short, each question worth a lot. NO EXTRA CREDIT! 4 exams, quizzes every week, homework is worth 10 % of your grade. I would not take him again.
Class is entertaining, Professor Haley is super nice and has great office hours.. BUT I was not a fan of the grading. The 3 tests and FINAL basically made up your entire grade and there were only about 40-50 points on each of those so you couldn't miss many points to keep a decent grade. Oh and the final's cumulative... NOT!
great teacher and pretty funny guy. 3 test and final, you could drop one(not final), and you get a practice test for each test. do the homework and study the practice problems, and you will do just fine. only downfall about this class is that there are weekly quizzes(you can drop 2), but the quizzes are only ten percent of your grade.
3 midterms and one final. He dropped the lowest score of the first 3 tests. Quizzes every week (even directly after one week of spring break). No extra credit, no exam reviews sessions, and homework is only worth 10 %. Attendance mandatory. Funny but nit-picky and strict teacher. Not recommended.
Ed is a genuinely nice professor that shares his love for Calculus with his students. He does not aim to trick you on tests, and provides helpful practice problems and examples. Four tests and a final, available if you have questions. Homework is semi-optional but it helps. A great calc class!
This guy has NO idea what he is doing. He makes many mistakes while lecturing that you will start to loose interest&focus. Students correct him all the time, you can't even trust the notes he gives! HARD tests are 50 points! Collects A TON of hw for 3 points! many quizzes! It's a joke. Very few points in grading, no room for error. AVOID HIM!
Best math teacher I've had at saddleback so far. If you make an effort you will do well.
Way too much memorization expected in this class. Exams ultimately test your ability to memorize & properly utilize formulas; too much pressure put on memorizing countless formulas, many of which look very similar to each other. This really hindered my success in the class. Uses shortcuts on the board-not always clear. Extremely dry sense of humor.
Great class! Super clear, step-by-step methods to solve equations. Amazing office hours and truly wants his students to do well. He had a dorky humor, like you are being taught by someone on Big Bang Theory. Class goes by quickly. 4 tests, lowest one is dropped (but not the final, which was not comprehensive).
He is awesome, really enjoyed and learned a lot from him. Clear grading and even drops lowest few quizzes and exam. He made the class as easy as possible and his nerdy jokes left me leaving his class with a smirk everyday. He's also very inspirational and likes to tell us what real life applications there are from each subject.
He is my fav. professor in Saddleback. I would take him forever. His lectures are so clear even if you are an international student you can do great in his class. This class always made my day. He has the sense of humor and he helps for everything without being frustrating. Also do homework with paying attention cuz it helps to do well in exams.3
No calculators on exams. Need I say anymore?
He's a nice guy, but the difficulty level of his exam questions are completely unnecessary. His exams do not resemble the homework problems in the textbook, very disappointed with edgar, thought he was cool, he's not.
ProfHaley is probably one the best teacher I have ever had at Saddleback. He is great at explaining calculus and he's very very fair with his student. People that are writing bad reviews about him probably didn't even try in his class and are criticizing him for bad reasons. Calculus is a hard subject, go to his office hours, you will do great.
He is a good teacher, very thorough with his lectures. What I like about him is that he has a great sense of humor that makes his class pass by fast. Math is a hard class so don't expect his class to be an easy a. I definitely would recommend Prof Haley
I enjoyed this class very much. Great lectures and fair grader. If you do your homework and practice the extra problems he gives you will get an A. I love his sense of humor and is by far my favorite math professor at Saddleback. Would take again in a heartbeat.
Professor Haley is an amazing teacher. He takes a tough subject, like calculus, and makes it fun and interesting. Even though math 3B was a really challenging class, he made it understandable and do-able . The way he lectures makes daunting, tough topics seem much easier! I am so thankful I took him and I'm bummed he doesn't teach 3C!
Let me first say, YOU DON'T NEED CALCULATORS IN THIS CLASS. Prof Haley is the man. His lectures are entertaining but very clear. He is a lenient grader and tries to give you as much credit as you deserve for a problem. Exams are tough but study well and you should be fine.
Mr. Haley is an awesome 3B professor. The concepts are a bit easier than 3A, but you still have to work to try and digest the multiple techniques and tests needed for integration as well as divergence. Mr. Haley is always available to help during his office hours and will personally help you in any areas you might be stuck on.
Professor Haley is super quirky and funny. He has very clear lectures, very structured in his lessons and grading style. I enjoyed taking this class, and it was a lot easier than expected. If you show up and pay attention to his lectures, it is an easy A.
I found him to give useful lectures, and I would definitely take him again.
Funny. Organized, lectures are clear and easy to understand. Gives homework for credit. No graphing calculator for class.
Ed is an amazing professor who cares deeply about each of his students. Lectures are clear and organized, test dates are specified in advance, and his sense of humor trumps all! He made a class I thought to be almost impossible the easiest thing I've ever taken. Though his class fills up fast, I highly recommend taking him if you get the chance!
TAKE HIM!! he's so sweet and nerdy. He explains things very well and the tests are just like the quizzes he gives in class. The homework is graded just if you attempt to do all the problems as well. I would take him again for sure.
Took him for trig. Super clear, organized, straightforward lectures. His examples/notes help with the homework and exams. If you work hard and study you will understand the material really well and get an A.
Mr. Haley is an awesome calculus professor! He makes learning a difficult subject matter fun, plus it helps that he looks like a hot version of Sheldon Cooper. The class is not easy, it is still a very difficult subject matter, but at least he keeps you awake during the class and he is very helpful during office hours as well.
If you are shopping for a 3B professor look no further. Ed Haley is your guy. Clear syllabus explaining the entire semester Grades homework on completion Weekly quizzes for feedback Tests are similar to quizzes Sample test reviews Extremely fair grader Always available for Office Hours Genuinely nice and funny guy
Easy for math 3b but not the best one. I had Perez for 3A and in my opinion Perez was more clear. Haley has quizzes every week which is almost like his lecture problems with and extra bounces point. BUT THE TEST ARE EXTREMELY HARD AND HE GRADES THEM EVEN HARDER.
Haley is such a great math instructor. Math was never an easy subject for me but he explains every detail & takes the time to make sure no one gets left behind. Always in a good mood w/ his cheesy jokes as well. He does a great job making sure we are prepared for exams and quizzes to avoid any surprises. I wish he could teach all math classes.
Professor Haley is by far the best math professor I've had. His lectures are extremely helpful and he wants you to succeed. The homework is not too bad and the tests are pulled from the book. This is the first semester he started to let his students use their calculators so you don't have to worry about that anymore !
Awesome teacher! Very clear and direct about expectations and what you need to know/be able to do! One of the best teachers I've ever had, especially for math. If you do the work and go to office hours or the LCR for extra help you'll do great! Success is encouraged!
He literally has a sticky note on the wall above his computer in his office that says "how does this serve the students?" He is the epitome of an educator. He is very interested in translating his knowledge to you. Tests are fair, even enjoyable, but this is a tough class so you better know your stuff before test day. His class fills VERY quickly.
Amazing Professor. Has clear and organized notes in which he hand writes on the board to insure he goes over at a pace everyone can follow and explain in great detail. The quizzes and tests are fairly easy if you review your notes and do your homework, he does not try to trick you. Best math teacher I've had, his personality makes you want to learn
Extremely intelligent and passionate Professor. Very organized notes and clear examples. It's good because his examples aren't super easy whereas the tests questions are hard. They're very similar. Do the hw and you'll be prepared. One issue I had is that it's hard to listen and write as he goes through examples very quickly. Either write or listen
Hes a great professor and love him because he is a great teacher of math. Yes people will say its hard but remember a lot of people struggle with math, and he will make it easier and give great feedback.
He is one of the best math professor I've ever had. he make everything so clear and has amazing lecture. he is really respectful and answer all question. all the time he is so nice and encourage students. but every week have small quiz and collect homeworks. take him if you have chance.
Probably THE BEST Calculus professor at Saddleback. Very understanding and down-to-earth guy. Has the most concise and helpful syllabus ever. Drops 2 lowest quizzes, homework assignments and drops your lowest test score. Out of my class only about 5 or 6 dropped the course. His classes fill up quick so make sure to get your spot.
Haley is an amazing professor. He is very fair and he genuinely wants to do his best to teach his students so they can succeed. He presents the material in an easy to comprehend way. I am planning to taking him for every math class I can. If you have the opportunity, take his class!
Haley is an AMAZING teacher he's hilarious and has really positive energy. He is always willing to help you and answer questions. He makes learning calc fun even though its super challenging material. Heavy exams, easy quizzes, do your homework and focus in class. Practice those problems your grade will depend on it. He's the best calc professor
Super organized with his lectures which is something I love, especially when it comes to math. He is very clear with his lectures, and explains each problem step by step. I got an A on all his tests, granted, I study hard. Gives hw credit & aren't any quizzes. Super sweet and has a great sense of humor. Wish I could have gotten him for pre-calc :)
smart professor. teaches well. very test heavy, however i thought they were easy. drops your worst test and final is not cumulative. 4 tests in total including the final and they are worth 85% of your grade and homework is due every other week and is 15% of your grade. show up to do well
Perez vs. Haley? If you're an A++++++ student, take Perez (it's gonna be brutal but you're up for it, you'll die for your grade); if you average and above, take Haley (it's fair, you'll work for your grade). Good luck fellow comrades.
His notes are very easy to comprehend since he goes through each step on the white board. There are no quizzes, three test (one is dropped), then a final. Homework is worth 15% and due roughly every two weeks. Also, he has a sense of humor, which is hard to come by in a math class. Ask questions, go to office hours, visit the past exam problems.
Ed Haley is fine. It's a super hard subject, coming from someone who has never really struggled in math before this class. However, Haley is funny and clear. The work falls totally on you, so don't expect anyone to hold your hand through the course, and I suggest creating a study group to meet like once a week or at least before tests.
Ed's a great prof, have had him for 2 semesters now continuing from his 124 Trig course. He really makes you work for the grade you want, overall you will be solid in your mathmatical foundation after you take him. Hope to take his Calc3B class.
This is definitely a very difficult math course, but if you show up to every class and study before quizzes as well as before exams, it is doable. At the beginning of the semester I was having doubts, but if you stick with it youll see Professor Haley genuinely cares and is a great professor!
Such a great professor. Super CLEAR & ORGANIZED! Funny! Class is hard just because it's CALC 3B. He really tries to help you through it and make it manageable. He is there to help the students. Would totally take him again!
Funniest guy I've had who still focused on lecture. Cares so dam much about students understanding the material and reviews everything you need to know before any tests. the homework can take a while but you have a lot of time to get it done and he grades graciously. Clear dates for quizes, due dates, exams, lectures, everything. Adored the dude.
He's very approachable outside of class, so if you don't understand something just go to his office hours. If you want to succeed in this class, you need to develop a routine. You need to do all the HW and make sure you understand all the problems. Quizzes were easy, he drops 2 out of 9. Exams weren't that bad, he drops 1 out of the 4.
Take Haley for any/ every math class you can. He is seriously the greatest and very intelligent. 3B can be intimidating, but his lectures make everything super clear. You still have to put in some work on your own of course, but Haley will help you with anything you need. He also drops the lowest test and two lowest homeworks & quizzes.
Calculus is a headache of a subject on its own but Haley makes it a lot more tolerable and digestible. You still have to work really hard but you'll probably do better with Haley than you would with any other professor. He's very reasonable and makes a lot of jokes. Quiz's are usually given once a week. **Do the HW and study the lecture notes**!
Prof Haley is a great teacher and person all around and Math 3B is a hard subject. This guy is a life-line for your grade, he will literally do all that he can to help out his students. As with any class, if you study and work hard you will get whatever grade you work for.
Haley is very caring teacher who's willing to work with you to help understand calculus. That being said, calculus requires a lot of practice, so you'll need sink hours into homework if you want that A. 90% of the grade is determined by 3 tests + 1 final, but Haley does try to give as much partial credit when grading.
Haley is the best! He gives amazing lecture notes. Weekly easy quizzes that you should study with as they are similar to test! Made learning the material really easy with step by step examples.
Ed Haley. I would say he is the best Calculus professor at Saddleback! His tests are straightforward and lectures are very helpful. He gives very good notes. He drops the lowest test out of 4. That said, you have to put in the work for your grade. If Prof. Haley teaches another higher Math class, you would find me there! Best Calc Professor Ever!
Hands down, funniest professor ever! Very quirky and makes funny jokes during his lectures. Lectures help a lot with understanding homework and well prepares for exams. Very passionate in what he does. Quite a lot of problems given for homework but gives a week to turn it in. 4 exams. As he once said, "it feels good to be a mathematical gangster!"
Professor Haley is the best professor I've ever had. He is accessible outside of class and extremely helpful. He will explain the content to you until you understand. If you are willing to show up every day, ask questions, and do the homework, you will receive an A. He wants all his students to succeed, but you must put in the time and effort.
Haley was one of my favorite professor at Saddleback hes hilarious. He is very witty but in and awkward way so naturally I cant stop laughing. If you are not already good at math his lectures can be confusing because he skips a lot of basic math steps, HOWEVER if you have a question he will always answer and help you till you understand it
Very personable and engaging lecturer. He has a great sense of humor and tries to keep things light without sacrificing academic rigor. Lowest exam grade is dropped. Homework is collected and graded. Weekly quizzes. He's very methodical: everything's in the syllabus, no surprises here. One of the best math classes I've had at Saddleback.
Professor Haley is a really funny and nice guy. He tends to skip a lot of intermediary steps, so you may have trouble if you didn't go very far with math in high school or you don't have a strong foundation in algebra. Uses many examples in lectures, but it can sometimes be hard to draw a conclusion or specific list of steps from them.
as someone who hates calculus, I love haley. It was still a difficult class but he is def the best calc prof at SDBK. There's lots of homework and exams are pretty fair, but make sure you know youre trig because exams are tricky with that. Really cool guy who cares about his students and is the funniest prof. Barely got a B but still enjoyed it?
Edgar Haley is an absolute king. Very funny (and maybe awkward). He teaches his class very well and makes math, a somewhat cold and analytical subject, a bit more memorable, warm, and fun. Tests are very fair (and he grades very fair as well). Absolutely will take him again if I need another math class.
I had Prof Haley before quarantine, and currently for quarantine online classes. His zoom meetings are fantastic. His in class is always super funny, the lectures are well organized!! He is one of two best math teachers ive ever had
Prof. Haley is so funny and kind, he would always brighten up my day with his personality. He is always available for help and makes sure you understand. His exams are pretty fair but he always sneaks trig in there so be careful for shortcuts. quizzes every week, and 4 exams total. Good lectures and lovely person, made calc 2 somewhat enjoyable
I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!! I took him for math2, math3a, and I just signed up to take him for math3b. Mr. Haley really cares about his students and wants to share his passion for the subject. Take him!! <3. Math2 is 10% hw, 90% tests (4 tests, final not cumulative). His calc classes are 5% hw, 5% quizzes, and 90% tests (4 tests plus a cumulative final).
Hands down best professor for this subject. It's not easy but it you'll do fine if you follow along with the lectures, do the homework, and most importantly: ASK QUESTIONS. He replies quicks. Drops one test, two quizzes, and two homework assignments.
Professor Haley is one of the best instructors I have ever had. He provides interesting content in lectures and if you honestly work through the assigned homework you will really learn the material. He creates an environment that caters student success and a deep understanding.
A solid choice for trigonometry! He explains things that make learning trig easy and always makes sense and his tests are fairly easy if you do the homework.
Great professor. Drops the lowest exam grade for the term (except the final) and has great lectures. Homework is mandatory but reasonable.
The best and most hilarious instructor I've ever had. PERIOD. He makes a tedious class enjoyable and upbeat. Seriously, this is the first professor ever that I actually REALLY missed when the semester ended : ( Great at teaching. Quizzes and exams are leniently graded, but this is still a difficult class. HW due dates creep up quickly. Keep track!
When you first meet him it might come off as weird or awkward but as you get to know him, hes super funny would take this class all over again 100 times explains math so well from the origin and explains everything super well.
Haley is amazing at teaching. His style of lectures makes it really simple to convert what is being written down directly onto paper, which I feel is important for a math course. Even though the pandemic happened in the middle of the semester, his online lectures do a great job of making things easy to understand. Definitely take if you're able to.
I was honestly so nervous to take a math class online but Prof Haley's class is amazing! There were no required zoom lectures, instead Prof Haley records all of his lectures and posts them by chapter. His explanations are very clear and understandable. HW not required but there's a short quiz every week. I would highly recommend his class.
I usually don't like math courses but this teacher makes it very easy. Put forth the effort and you'll get a good grade. Participate and ask questions if you're taking his class online and sometimes he gives extra credit. He has been super helpful and seems to care about his students. Quizzes and HW are easy and great test prep!
For an online math class Haley is as good as you can get. Lectures are easy to follow and he explains things well. He's easy to get ahold of if you have any questions and the quizzes and tests reflect the homework and lectures.
Professor Haley's teaching style is second to none. He's incredible. He is highly intelligent and also very entertaining. Not only does he teach you the material, he gives you an understanding you can stand by... that's rare (especially with online learning). I had Haley for 3B as well, take him as often as you can.
Professor Haley is by far the best math teacher I have taken at saddleback. He is extremely fair when creating exams. If you do not get an A it is your fault as he generally uses examples straight from the notes and homework. Math 3B is an integral heavy class and he creates exams to test your knowledge rather than busy computation. Take Him!
I've taken professor Haley for two classes now and can say with certainty that he is the best math professor at saddleback. Math 24 was an asynchronous course, and despite never actually talking with him, his lectures and notes gave you all the preparation needed to succeed. Do not be afraid of an online course when taking it with Prof. Haley.
I have never enjoyed or been good at math, and i thought taking math online would be absolutely brutal. However this was the only math class I actually did well in. Haley is super caring and funny and will take the time to answer any question you may have. He knows the material and tries to make it enjoyable. If you're not good at math, take Haley
This instructor had thorough explanations of the lessons in his videos. There are weekly quizzes and four exams, but the lowest three quizzes and lowest exam (except the final) get dropped. All students automatically get full credit for the homework. Easy A, though I struggled with some of the concepts. Tests from the HW.
Online/Covid. His 2 Youtube lectures per week are to the point & humorous. Gives great feedback on each test, is very responsive if you have questions and a very reasonable grader. Quizzes every Thursday. Open book/notes! Exams are 90% of your grade so as long as you study and practice the problems you should have no issue. Reach out for help!
Asychronous online format. Calculus II is a difficult class--no other way to put it. Haley's availability outside of class makes it feel like he's there with us. Lectures are on YouTube. If you don't understand something, post your question to the discussion board (or email him), and he will get back to you fast! You can tell he genuinely cares.
There's a quiz or test every week and professor Haley is a hard grader. He doesn't care if you get the answer right, if your work doesn't exactly match his then you will lose points. He doesn't understand that there is more than one way to solve a problem. He also doesn't give enough time for quizzes. You have 20 minutes to solve 2 problem
I really don't know what all the crying below this comment is about... if you cannot understand that Haley is one of the best professors you will have at this level, you should probably consider changing majors. With that said, you just need to watch the lectures and practice. You will do very well if you just do those two things.
Math's not really my strongest point. He posted youtube videos which were helpful to take notes on. He does weekly quizzes and will give you feedback on them.
Can't speak highly enough of him. Math 124 online. His lectures are so clear and he provided transcripts of the lecture in form of PDF notes. We got 5% credit for HW even if you didn't do. I did all the HW and it perfectly prepared me for the 8 quizzes and 4 exams all open note. He dropped lowest exam and 2 lowest quizzes. Would take again.
Took this professor a while ago before I transferred. I absolutely love Edgar, and his lectures really are extremely well done. Have no complaints, I would take him for every Saddleback math class if that was an option. Just make sure you do all the homework and understand it.
Great and funny guy, I have 0 issue with him personally. However, exams make up 75% of your grade and he uses the hardest possible questions. This was his first semester in a long time in person and therefore way harder than his online class. These exams are super tough, and if you have other heavy classes clashing with it then it's even harder.
Homework credit is given without needing completion. There is a week to finish quizzes. Exam problems are just like the lecture problems. Videos are helpful but he also posts the notes from the videos so watching them is not always necessary unless an explanation is needed. Note: This is for the Online Asynchronous course.
Professor Haley is the one of the best professor's I have had the pleasure of taking. His lectures are well organized and they give you a great understanding of the material. He is very accessible outside of class and he is always willing to help! Homework is optional, but if you don't do it you will struggle on exams.
I can confidently say that Professor Haley is one the best professor I have ever had. He is a phenomenal teacher and is incredibly engaging during his lectures. On top of that, he has a ton of resources available on canvas including videos in case you miss class and is very approachable. He drops 1 lowest test and 2 lowest quizzes.
First and foremost Professor Haley is my dawg. His lectures were outstanding and the way he teaches, made even complex ideas easy to understand. His YouTube lectures,(previously used for Covid 19) made missed days and hard subjects recoverable. His attitude made class enjoyable; something I have never been able to say about a math class.
Very knowledgeable and caring professor. The lectures are well organized and are available on YouTube to look back at. Doing the book homework and attending class will prepare you for his tests. Hilarious in class and always in a good mood. I cannot recommend him enough. Wish he taught linear!
Intelligent and caring. Lectures are amazing! If you pay attention during lectures and practice with the HW, you will set yourself up for success. If you're confused you can visit his office hours. His passion for math is infectious. I'm currently majoring in math, and I feel that of all the math teachers I've had, he is the most inspiring.
This was a tough class, but he makes it very bare-able. The depth of exam questions can range so success is heavily dependent on homework practice/reps. You automatically get 10 percent homework credit...but don't let yourself procrastinate like I did. If you stay on top of the homework, and ask questions during office hours you'll find success.
Professor Haley had organized and straightforward lectures. He did his best to questions during class and provided lots of help during office hours, both in-person and online. His past YouTube lectures were also available to supplement. The no-calculator exams were tough but always fair. I highly recommend him.
A lot of recent reviews for this course were made back when he was conducting the class online. Now that he conducts them in person you are expected to memorize all trig derivatives, integrals, and derivative rules. If you're a pre-med major who hates to memorize trig, take your calc series either online or at IVC. I really like him as a professor
His lecture videos are super helpful and well edited. Math majors did well in his class while the rest struggled. You are expected to memorize all your trig and not use a calculator on the test. Super respect him as a person though. He's a really good teacher, its just if you're taking his calc, don't take a lot of other classes.
I 100% recommend Prof Haley. He's a vv nice guy & I hate math but being in his class made me tolerate it & now I want to learn Calc 2 so I can learn under him again. His rules for the course are strict but not in a bad way; he's just someone with a direct agenda. I look forward to taking Calc w him but I dislike that calculators aren't allowed :(
He gives us the right number of circles
Professor Haley is one of the best math professors I've ever had. He's funny, makes math tolerable, and is great at making difficult subjects easy to understand. He allowed one of the exam grades to drop and two of the quiz grades to drop. His homework is not mandatory but is extremely helpful during studying! Overall a great professor!
Professor Haley is by far the best math teacher I have ever had. The class is definitely hard, but the lectures are amazing. Professor Haley knows calculus inside and out, and he knows how to teach it in a way that makes sense. His tests are very fair, there are no surprises. Try not to skip lectures, they are crucial. Also he is hilarious.
Math 3B is a relatively difficult class, but Professor Haley is knowledgeable and gives clear guidance in the lecture. He is very humorous in class. His classes are very organized, and his grading is fair. Professor Haley also has a complete set of well-crafted MATH 3B lectures on YouTube, which is very helpful. Haley is the best math professor!
Best professor ever! Homework is optional. You can even drop one exam from exams 1-3! Before each exam, Prof. Haley provides a very useful study guide. For every Quiz, you can discuss it with your classmates. He will also answer your questions through discord if you don't have time to go to his office hour. Put in the effort, and you will succeed.
He's probably one of the best math professors I've taken. Most of the difficult parts comes with the subject (CALC 2) not him. I have taken him for trig and that was a breeze. He has video lectures on YouTube, which is very helpful. He is very caring and will answer your questions no matter how stupid they are lol. He is funny and a, A+ professor.
Best math professor, he is a funny guy and really easy to talk to. Homework is optional but good for studying. Quizzes are only 1 question, and he drops your 2 lowest quizzes. Professor Haley prepares you very well for exams, and you always know what to expect from them, so there are no surprises. Would definitely take his class again!
Very cool teacher, had fun in his class as well! Differential equations is a easy subject but with much memorization, yet Ed made it not hard to memorize and demonstrated the simplicity in solving differential equations.
Would take again 1000 times. Funny, understanding, explains every single thing he does, gives partial credit. Tests are pretty difficult but if you study and go to office hours they're not bad at all. Great class.
Professor Edgar Haley's teaching is top-notch. He's one of the best teachers you'll find. His lectures are clear and structured, simplifying complex topics. His approachability and patience are his assets. Highly recommended.
I go to Cornell University. I used Edgar's youtube videos and never attended lecture. I have never rated a professor on here before and I thought to drop by to give this man props. You at Saddleback College have the best math professor I have ever learned from. Wish he taught at Cornell. Thank you.
I adore this man. He is one of the best math professors and strongly recommend taking his class. This course is only hard because calculus is hard, but as far as Haley's class goes, he sets you up for success. He makes himself available outside of class and is very easy to talk to. He is also so silly so choose him if you're up for the class.
Amazing professor. Made a very difficult class extremely enjoyable. Very test heavy but tests from questions similar to the homework assigned so doing so will help you excel. Lots of opportunities for extra credit on quizzes and very helpful during office hours. Also, he gives lots of partial credit on quizzes/exams. Would 100 percent recommend.
Ed is super laid back and caring. He's always willing to reiterate and elaborate if you're confused. His exams never throw you under the bus and his lectures prepare you for them amazingly.
Awesome dude, I took him two semesters ago but I figured I should repay him for the awesome experience he gave me with a 5-star review. We had class at 8 am in a portable with horrible AC and he was still all smiles the whole lecture. HW is not mandatory, so tests are important, BUT VERY VERY FAIR. No calculators allowed so brush up on ur trig.
I thought Haley's class was super fair. He gives good detailed explanations on math problems, if you ever have any questions during lecture, please ask him! He never minds and. I don't think there was that much of an overload of homework but there was a good amount. Haley is a great professor overall, would definitely take again or recommend.
great lectures, and super accessible so ask questions in class and ask for help in office hours if needed. as long as you do the homework, the exam questions will be pretty similar. exams are very fair, nothing on the exams will be something crazy hard or smth you have never seen before.
Had him spring semester. Amazing professor, hard class. He clearly explains the concepts, and is willing to go back if you ask. Tests are tough, but he is a forgiving grader and prepares you well. Hw can be tricky but he will do problems on the board if you ask. Quizzes aren't difficult and he will often have fun easy questions at the bottom.
Great professor. He obviously really loves math, and his energy really helps grab peoples' attention. He is super funny and his lectures are a lot more fun than you would expect for a math class. Tests can be tricky, but he prepares everyone well and he gives partial credit. Not much more to say, but definitely take Haley for any class you can.
only take if math major
Professor Haley is a great math teacher who makes even the tough concepts understandable. While the class can be challenging, his engaging lectures and fair exams make it manageable. Unstuck study is a helpful study tool alongside the textbook.
Prof Haley is great at working though units in a charming, cohesive way. Class felt fast paced but I was still able to grasp all the concepts presented due to Prof's in-depth explanations. Just keep up with the homework between classes and everything should make sense. Tests never felt unfair, and he drops the lowest exam and 3 lowest quiz scores.
not easy, but he cares about you.
Haley is by far the best math professor I've ever had. The material itself is tough but he makes it easy to understand and prepares you well for exams. No calculators but as long as you know your trig and algebra there shouldn't be any issues. Lectures are very engaging and entertaining and the guy is a comedian, hilarious! Taking him again for 3B!
The best math teacher at saddleback hands down. Lectures are amazing and so easy to follow. He makes difficult content much easier to learn. Tests are easy as long as you know how to do the homework well. Provides a full front and back cheat sheet for exams. Only bad thing is exams are 80% of grade, but if you put in effort, and A is extremely EZ.
Professor Haley is both an awesome dude and an incredibly skilled mathematician. He is super helpful but will also challenge you in a way that benefits your understanding. He writes out all of the notes on the board, making sure students see exactly how he does each problem. His lectures are always entertaining and he makes Calculus kinda fun.
Haley is on your side, never nitpicking or making things more difficult than they need to be. He truly wants you to learn and enjoy learning, and his lectures are engaging and easy to understand. He's very lenient and generous with his grading and exams. No calculators allowed but trust me you never need them.
Simply the best math professor I have ever had. His lectures are extremely well constructed and covers everything you need to know. The tests were pretty simple but some questions were challenging, however the homework prepares you very well. Prof. Haley is a funny guy and will always help you if you don't understand something.
Haley is hands down the best professor. I took him for both 3A and 3B, and while calculus is tough, he made it manageable. My advice is to take him if you need calc. You'll need to put in the work, but Haley is supportive and wants you to succeed. He gives partial credit on quizzes and exams where deserved. Go to office hours!!!
Took him for 3B & 3C, straight forward lectures and tells u what he expects on the exam, great guy who cares! Awkwardly funny.
Professor Haley is the best of the best. He has a true passion for math and makes you care about it, too. The class is test-heavy but the workload was not too tough. Definitely come to lecture as he takes attendance. Lectures are funny but still focused and informative. Can't recommend Professor Haley enough, he's the reason I'm a math major now.
There is nobody like Prof Haley. His lectures are very detailed and doesn't overcomplicate anything. He did pretty much every lecture without using his notes which showed he really cared about the subject and knew what he was doing. Diff EQ is hard, but Haley made it simple and honestly beautiful. Pay attention, do the HW and you'll succeed
Professor Haley is an amazing professor. He is so good at covering the basics and explaining them well. He genuinely cares about teaching you the material and making sure you know everything from top to bottom. His tests are very straightforward and reflect exactly what he teaches in the lectures. He's very personable and caring
At first I did not like Haley as a process, but was wrong. I thought that he made the class to easy, but I actually don't think this results in you learning less. The main difference is that when Haley lectures it 'just makes sense' the first time around so you don't need to self teach, and the cheat sheet that he allows for exams.
Haley is the best lecturer I have ever taken. Funny, fair tests, and very helpful office hours. This class isn't easy, you do need to try. Tests are not cumulative and he drops one. Tips: do all the homework (on time), study notes/homework before test, go to EVERY LECTURE, and take GOOD NOTES, don't waste all his effort making such good lectures.
I took Haley's classes for Calculus 1 through 3, and he is genuinely the best math teacher I have ever had. He is very talented at explaining concepts in an engaging and straightforward manner. I've never seen so many people excited about math until I took his class! Regardless of your major, take his class!!!!
As someone who was dreading calculus because of my high school experiences with math, Professor Haley made me understand it and actually become fascinated by it. He is always eager to explain concepts and provides lots of guidance for tests. If you understand the homework you will be prepared for the tests. Life changing professor
I may not be a bright student, but I never felt so clueless doing an exam than his class. His class is made for math majors; if you aren't one, you're failing it. He's nice and drops your lowest exam score, but I wish he went over the more difficult topics that reflect his exam instead of just teaching the basics.
Very apparent first time teaching the material. He seems like a decent teacher but his teaching for this course was horrible. The exams had no relation to any work or assignments he had given and felt way more wordy and difficult. He seems like a good guy but is not for most people trying to learn
My favorite math professor of all time. His lectures are so good. I think he sets up the class in a very simple way. Quiz every week. Hw should be finished by the quiz time. Test every 4 weeks or so. The only thing I don't like is how he does office hours. It feels more like he wants you to go away rather than him wanting to answer your question.
