this teacher is the worst one, he cant expaling math and teaches the russian way and likes to see u do things the complicated way. Comments how bad the american teacehrs are and that the math they teach kiddie stuff
Great Teacher!!! Very energetic to teach and loves doing so unlike most professors I've had. Always glad to go over problems with you and is always available for more help outside of the classroom! Overall a great teacher that loves to teach and cares
This guy is too smart to be teaching sped math. Although someone told me that he passed them with a average of 35 that was not the case for me. I couldn't understand a word the guy said.

he's too full of enthuasiasm.. it's like he has a smile painted onto his face.. he needs to chillax a lil bit.. kinda hard to understand him through his thick accent..
loves to teach. great attitude, and energy.
Good guy, easy in comparison to others. I got a C in HS calc, got an A in this guys class. He knew we weren't math/sci majors, so he didn't expect a ton out of us. Def too smart to be teaching business calc and the accent can be tough, but a good prof.
sucks..mean, not clear, doesnt answer quetions, bad professor overall
He gets angry and always blames our stupidity on "the damn American schooling." He gets very emotional, but also wants to see you succeed. He won't fail you if he sees you at math support and showing up to class and handing in all the homework a

He was my favorite teacher and he also is the best teacher I've had so far at Suffolk. He explains the material very well and he's always willing to help. I highly recommend you take him if you have the opportunity. Trust me, you won't regret it!
He is a very nice guy and good teacher.
A pretty good teacher..sometimes, a little hard to understand because of his accent.
hate him. rude and annoying. favors students and belittles others
He does a good job of going over all the material and making sure you understand it. He'll always be willing to answer your questions, especially in math support. His tests are hard but they are graded on a ridiculously generous scale (anything over a 70 is an A... wtf!?!)
he is brilliant. A little hard to understand sometimes but he wants everyone to succeed. He goes over all the material well and knows when you get extra help. I am horrible at math and got an A- in this class. He is a very, very caring and understanding man and a great teacher.
He is a good teacher and always answers your questions. He is smart and tries to teach the class his way
i love him!!!!!
He is a great teacher and its not his fault that math sucks so bad
Makes fun of the dumb students and favors the smart students (particular ones who learned advance math from another country). bad with names and keeps saying how in russia students learn calculus in the third grade. thinks that he is the smartest math prof and how he made so many publications and how he was taught by the best
not much fun. He's hard to understand and rude to some students.
hard to understand - not fun at all
he can be very rude
oof - you don't even wanna know

Do h.w. + show effort+ get tuitions (u wont understand him) = B+ in his class
Seems wayy too smart to be teaching our math class. Makes me feel bad when people don't pay attention because I feel like it really is hurting this man's feelings. He is compassionate, but gets very frustrated if you don't show effort/improvement. I like him.
I didn't like his teaching style.
Great Guy, knows material is hard and challenging. gives scale on everything to help. Doesn't take attendence, will only learn ur name if u raise hand. Has a russian accent, can be difficult at times, writes all over the board, have to pay attention. Should of gotten a B but got an A cause of his scale.Wants you to succeed. try hard and u will do fine
He's so unclear in everything that he teaches, goes wicked fast and makes it impossible to do the homework because you get so behind. Luckily he considers a 40 out of 100 to be passing on his tests.
This is honestly the WORST professor I had in my entire life. He goes through problems extremely fast, doesn't stop. He acts like he wants you to ask questions but when you do he gets annoyed. Yells out student's grades on exams, singles students out. A good grading scale but thats only because he knows what and how he's teaching is hard!
Great teacher.. Never been in one of his classes but he helps me out in the Math support centre. Always so clear i get the concepts so quick when he explains.. great guy too. friggin thumbs up for him..
He has a great grading scale. Considers 80 to be an A and 40 to be passing. His teach style sucks he goes too fast on problems. He really wants you to pass this course.
If you have a choice..don't take him! His accent is horrible, he doesn't explain anything & messes up problems..but then asks if you have questions & hardly answers them. ALWAYS talks about how terrible our education is & how Russia is better. Singles you out with grades. Only good thing is that he scales grades ALOT.
Overall a decent guy--has a strong Russian accent, talks very loud & will go through material fast in class. If you come to class (he never takes attendance though) & take good notes, he gives you examples just like the exams & you'll do fine. He also considers an 80 an A. All exams are open note & he allows you 2 sheets of notes for the final.
This guy is a really good teacher. I had him for pre-calculus, and I really feel like I actually learned something. GO to class, take good notes, and do the homework he requires, and you should be fine. He just wants his students to do well. At times he can be a little hard to understand, but just ask him to clarify and he will.
Really nice guy, but a worthless teacher. He constantly solved questions wrong and had to be corrected by the students. As someone who does not do well in math, I had a very difficult time understanding. However, he was always available after class, and he scaled the tests a lot.
Many of his students think he is hard to understand because of his accent, but he is a great teacher and is very knowledgeable of the subject; very flexible
Even though he wants his students to all do very well he makes it near to impossible to actually succeed in his class. He is very difficult to understand, the textbook is usless, he does problems wrong ALOT and he goes on tangents about how much america sucks in comparrison to russia.
He's a very well intentioned man but sometimes he's hard to follow. He gets off on tangents that will confused the hell out of you. He also does more work then is required when solving problems which makes it confusing (a warning, he derives formulas and its not helpful). He's a nice man and a good teacher but not wonderful.
Guy is ridiculous. Completely cannot understand him. YELLS at you when you don't understand something. SCREAMED at EVERYONE at the final exam because everyone wasn't 10 MINUTES EARLY. Don't take him.
I think he is a good teacher with good intentions. Very knowledgeable. Although at times it may be hard to follow you just need to dedicate your mind to the class and attend. His accent isnt a problem either, he is very understandable.
Very confusing and hard to understand. Not just because of his accent.. he rants a lot on politics and life lessons. Claims he wants students to do well but does problems wrong all the time and is very unorganized. Uses confusing methods and makes the problems more difficult than they are. He may be good at math, but he sucks at teaching it.
great professor, really wants all students to do well. considers anything above an 85 an A, and anything above a 40 to be passing. encourages students to go to math support, and is usually there to help. would definitely take him again if i was taking any more math classes
I spent hours and hours every single week at Math Support, honestly tried my hardest, and he squeezes me by with a D- Calculus just wasn't my subject and this guy enjoyed that. Don't take him. Only likes certain people.
this is an awesome man, he goes on a lot about russia and how terrible the US is, but not only is it funny, but its true.. hes a really good professor, really knows how to teach, and it is up to you to ask him when something is unclear and he will definitely help you out. i would take him again hes a really good teacher and i enjoyed his classes
honestly the best teacher I have had at Suffolk. He is always willing to spend time with you to help you out. Very funny guy which makes class fly by. Clarifies everything before going on. Grading scale over a 40 is passing and anything over a 70 is an "A" which is REALLY easy to achieve. All tests open note and hw can be passed in at any time. : )
oh yeah
Edgar is very hard to understand at first because of his Russian accent and always has a smile on his face. He is very helpful and he understands that not everyone is a great mathematician. He scales his grades so you can still pass with a 40 average and get and A with and 80 average. I like him and you should take his class.
Great Professor!!! Really looking out for the students. You just have to put in the work and go over the material before class or else you won't get it because he goes mach one in class. Attending math support really helps as well. Overall i would recommend him if you just put in some work. Great Prof & great attitude/personality.
This is the only rating I have typed because this professor is my most memorable. I hadn't touched math since high school algebra and I did very well in his course. It's very fast-paced but he's great at explaining things and is very helpful when you don't ask a stupid question about something that was covered weeks ago.
Very nice teacher with a Russian accent so he is hard to understand. Good intentions but difficult class, he really knows his stuff and is passionate about math.
hard to understand/comprehend but a great guy. funny all around and is very lenient. scales grades like crazy. Math support will be your best friend
I had professor Karapetian for Calculus 2 at Northeastern University. He is a funny guy and really wants his students to succeed. Every quiz, midterm, and final are open note. I recommend him!
Professor Karapetian definitely cares about his students doing well in Calculus for Business and Economics. If you have taken a calc course before then it will be an easy A, if not you might have a little more trouble because he is not the most clear. However, he always answers any questions and lets you use notes for quizzes, midterm and final.
Karapetian is a great guy, he is passionate about math and really knows his stuff. We had four quizzes, one midterm, and a final. The midterm and final are pretty easy if you study for them. But he makes the quizzes and homework hard to get you ready for the midterm and final. He scales grade like crazy. If you know math you'll get an easy A.
extremely rude constantly belittling students hard to understand accent explains way too fast overall did not like him
He is by far the best teacher I have ever had, he also by far the smartest i have ever had. He is always fair and will take the time to help you if you try your best in his classes. If you don't try he will help you but the ones who do try will come first to him.
Edgar is a bully. He intimidates students, makes fun of them and overall creates a hostile learning environment. Fortunately, he is a very fair grader. A 40 IS A PASSING GRADE ON HIS FINAL. If you can put up with his bullying, you can do very well in his class.
Took Calc for Business/Econ at Northeastern University in fall 2015. His accent and demeanor are hilarious. He gets side tracked pretty easily. He's been teaching the course for a long time, though, so he knows his stuff really well, and he teaches to the final, so you're not learning useless stuff. Grading is pretty clear. Great dude.
I took Edgar's Calculus for Business and Economics class at Northeastern University. He is a sweet guy, with a heavy accent but good intentions. The only issue was that sometimes he got really off topic or was not willing to explain things more than once forcing you to go to office hours where he would be VERY helpful. Overall great professor.
Horrible teacher who creates a terrible environment for students. Makes fun of them for bad grades Infront of whole class, can't understand what he's saying, and doesn't know how to use the calculator (makes you learn on your own or see a different professor.... Has no clue how to do it himself) would avoid taking a class again with him.
Dr. Karapetian is a very talented prof in mathematics and applied physics. Fortunate to be born in Armenia, he accomplished a great deal of education in his home country as well as Russia, United States, and later received his PHD in Montreal. Makes his topics crystal clear and will not move on until the entire class understands the material.
Great Professor. Funny, Do not have to go to class (he does not care).
Many complain because he actually makes you work but He just wants you to UNDERSTAND the topic. He was always available outside of class for my questions. I took him for calc 2. Attendance was not mandatory. Your grade was based on 2 tests and a final. Go to class and do the homework, and youre good.I learned more in his class than any other.
Very tough guy. Yell at students in front of whole class. Does not explain things well, I cannot understand what he is saying. Gives hard questions on tests.
He gives passionate lectures. He knew how to convey the information and force his students to think in novel ways to solve problems. Homework and attendance are optional, but both are recommended if you want to pass. Class was graded based on midterm and final, but at his discretion (aka he boosted a lot of grades) and the curve was very generous
Not upfront about policies. Said he didn't care if you attended class/did the online HW. Then counted who showed up & notified the entire class of who hadn't completed any HW yet. (you can pass without going/doing HW btw) Teaches too quickly and messily. Fantastic grading scale with an awesome curve that will save you if needed.
Edgar needs to be more clear with students about what he wants. He claims that he will not police you to come to class, yet constantly berated students for missing. He did not grade attendance, however. Some of the things he says can be reworded to make concepts clearer, but if you pay attention you'll be able to figure out what he means.
He means well and is passionate about what he teaches but he only knows how to cater to students that can pick up on a problem right away. He DOES embarrass people in class for not showing up, not paying attention and bad grades. He likes you if you participate and show an effort! He scales but DO the homework and show up it's the only way to pass.
Prof Karapetian is a great teacher. He makes sure that his students truly understand the concepts that he is teaching. He is always available to help if you need it and is quite funny. His quizzes are easy as he gives you the questions that will be on the quiz beforehand.
Very easy class as he gives the questions to the tests beforehand just changes the numbers on the actual test. Could be difficult for students who have not taken calculus before.
He's a nice guy and very smart but is barely understandable because of his accent/english, he teaches things in a very confusing way if you've never taken calc before, I needed to go to TA office hours very often, said the HW was graded on completion and changed his mind and said it was graded on accuracy at the very end of the semester
Edgar is the most genuine guy I have ever met. He has an excellent sense of humor and is an exceptional calculus teacher. W man
At heart, Edgar is a nice man and definitely knows what he's teaching; but that's where the complements end. He doesn't give any resources outside of class besides a textbook he said was shit but still made us buy to do the homework. He teaches the material too fast and doesn't slow down the pace despite the class not understanding, then failing.
Professor Karapetian knows the material he is teaching very well, but it's not fully reflected in his teaching. He moves very quick and doesn't explain too well so if math isn't your strongpoint, you will struggle. If you show up, you will NOT fail, but doing well is hard. You don't use the textbook except for the hw, and it's $110, so you need it.
I enjoyed the class but I know people who didn't and I can see why. It's clear that he's knowledgeable on the subject and he tries his best to teach it but sometimes he can go a bit fast and there were times when I got lost. Honestly, if you show up to class and do the work you should be fine. He loves questions so don't be afraid to asked them.
Edgar is a very nice man and is a great human being. His classes are a bit tough, but if you just show up and do the work, you will pass. Don't be scared to ask questions, but he is a bit tough when it comes to the material in class. He just wants the best for each of his students. Not bad in my experience, but I know students who had a tough time.
He is just a mean teacher and not care about student at all, strong ego but not good at teaching.
insanely condescending, you will need to learn the material from yt/an outside source bc he goes so fast in class, girls don't go to office hours by yourself too many times he sometimes makes inappropriate comments after a few visits
Edgar can be very hot and cold. He is hard to get used to as sometimes his teaching can come off as condescending. He also has a thick accent which is a bit difficult to get used to. However, if you participate and do well he will love you. His tests were super easy and straightforward, although I did take it as an accelerated summer course.
Slight heavy russian accent. If you don't come to the lectures you will fail. He doesn't go by syllabus at all. Go to OH - super helpful. Kind to those in the front. Will yell at you if you miss class (he will know if you don't collect your quiz). Harder class but preps you better for the final than the other professors. I liked him
He is nice about grading, but he is very condescending and a bully during class time. Take his class if you want an easy A, but sit in the back if you don't want to get picked on by him.
Best professor in northeastern university. Cut to the chase, did not mess around and really wanted students to succeed. If you go to the classes its an easy A as he says basically whats gonna be on the test. Would recommend him if you are not sensitive and can handle reality.
I'm taking him for numerical methods at NEU. I think he's great! Very caring, ample office hours and explains everything clearly. Lectures at upper-level courses are unique in the sense one should read the lecture notes beforehand, and the lecture itself is more advanced/example-driven. I think this maybe threw people off.
Probably the worst teacher I've had in my life. Not only can he not teach, he is also a very unpleasant person. He spends half the class time ranting about how we shouldn't be allowed to become scientists and engineers and then tries to catch up to where we should have been so he always holds us over time. Horrible professor. Do not take his class.
Don't take Calc 2 with him. He's disrespectful, condescending, and has an inflated ego. His lectures are confusing, and he mumbles. He always publicly shames students for mistakes, creating a hostile environment. Additionally, he makes inappropriate, racist comments. His notes are messy and hard to follow, making the course even more challenging.
He is very disrespectful. I found it a bit narrow-minded how he is so judgmental of students. I think everyone is trying their best, but he just shuts you down and downplays your small victories. Plays favoritism. Wake up buddy, some of us worked hard out from poverty and not everyone has the luxury to explore Math from a young age like you.
