She was a really good teacher. The assignments were fair and the tests were pretty simple. If you read the chapters, participate, and look around at the students while giving a speech it will be an easy A.

She is a great teacher. As long as you do your work and hand it in on time you should have no problem. She is fair.

Don't get on this woman's bad side. If you are unenlightening and present topics that people just don't like, she'll lean on you and you won't get a good grade. Just be nice to her and do the work exactly as she says. You'll do fine.

Tells you what she expects! Make sure you make outlines exactly the way she wants. It is a big part of your grade! Attend all classes and be ready to speak! Turn you cell phone off or you will get to stand up and speak right then and there! GOOD LUCK

Excellent professor. Very down to earth and is very clear with her expectations. I was scared to death to take speech and she really made it very comfortable for me. She taught me a lot and it has helped in other classes. She is a wonderful person & teach

Took her summer class and she was very understanding that we were working on shortened time periods and I think took it easy on us. Very helpful and clear on exactly what she wants. Dont turn in work late, she will not except it but there it not a ton of work to really do in her class. Over all I would recommend her.

Awesome Professor...Easy A if you just do the work. Alot of work, but she explains how she wants everything done. She makes the class interesting and fun.

I loved her! I took her as a dual enrollment student....she definitely made college appear alot more friendly! Yeah, she does require outlines and speeches, but HELLO it is a speech class. She is very understanding and always there to listen if you need to talk. I would definitely recommend her to anyone -even if you don't like public speaking.

she is so confusing to listen to, it still makes my head spin! just follow the schedule and make sure you have your work done on time and you will be okay. the work is fairly easy to complete and whatnot. altogether, it was a decent class.

She was very nice...easy class and i hate speaking in front of groups. But she makes you feel at ease while presenting your speech. 4 speeches and all open book tests. Take her nite class...she lets you out early 98% of the time.

Shes incredibly nice, she gives open book tests and as long as u dont blow ur speeches, shes a good grader. she also makes class more fun than most teachers. i definately recommend her...if u have any common since,u'll do great

i loved this class. shes such a laid back teacher and grades extremely fair. in our speech class we only did about 5 speeches and everything else was fun group work. open book tests & all! shes so nice and friendly and laughs with your jokes shes not some prude evil teacher.

This professor is the best! She lets class our earlier most of the time! All her tests are open book and basically all definitions! As long as you follow her rules you are in great shape!!!!

YOU HAVE TO TAKE THIS CLASS!!! I was SO not interested in taking speech, I get really nervous speaking in front of people, but this turned out to be my favorite class. Tests are open book, you only have to submit an outline with your speeches, and she is very nice, laid back, and funny. Great teacher!

EVERTHING THEY SAY IS TRUE!! she's pretty easy... took her at night.. lets you at early. BUT remember to print the sh*t off the internet she gets pretty annoyed if you don't but shes an easy teacher. i got an A.

She is very nice. Her tests are open book and when you deliver your speech she nods and smiles at you. A lot of fun class activities. the homeworks are very easy. follow the outline precisely and include in it at least 3 sources and you will pass with an A. I received an A+ even though english is not my first language.

She was great! I was terrified to speak, but I made it out with an A! Openbook tests were great, but its smart to review before going into it. She has the chapters on Powerpoint on her site- VERY helpful. She gave great/helpful feedback. Fun class! She helped put you at ease. If you hate doing speeches, take her!

she's a real good teacher. her rules are clear and easy to follow. since i was in her summmer school class, we had 3 tests. 2 out of 3 test were easy eventhough it was open book. Just follow her directions and you'll pass!!! she's real strick on her speeches. make sure you follow her guidelines. real nice lady

This teacher is AWESOME! I took her online class and there was work, I wont lie but she was a great teacher! If you dont like speech take her. Also her feedback is awesome she answers emails quickly and tells you EXACTLY what she wants!!

Online class. Prof. is fair and reasonable. She responds promptly. Some weekly assignments require some time, but not hard. Need to find your own 5 audience members for all 3 speeches b/c its online & you lose points if you don't have the required amount of people. Make sure you don't read speeches & you move about your area during your speech.

Great teacher. 4 speeches the semester, 4 exams, millions of opportunities to earn points. She's very helpful and eager to help. If you write good outlines and just generally try, you'll pass the class. =]

Very awesome teacher! I took debate in HS so I was ready for it and she was very impressed with me, but any idiot can pass this class. Tests all open book, skim through for general idea though. Easy participation points, and simple homework. Pay attention to calender online and you'll do fine. Very fair teacher and easy grader-she was awesome!

Easy A class just do all the homework and type everything she will not except writen even if it is 3 lines.

You should definitely take Professor Gaythwaite. She replies back in a timely manor, she gives effective feedback on assignments, and she keeps everything organized. You aren't required to buy the book and the speech is given in front of 5 people. Easy class as long as you do what's expected of you.

I took this class online over the summer. At times i wanted to pull my hair out and scream. She isn't very understanding or clear with directions. The only good thing is there was only 3 speeches and I didnt need to buy the book.. It was just too much work packed into 6 weeks...maybe it would be an okay class for 12 weeks.

Took her summer class, really helpful, make sure you deliver your speech and turn in your work on time. Shes really strict about attendance.

Great professor, took online. There are a lot of work, there is at least a discussion, journal and quiz every week. Most of the answers of the quiz are in the glosary part. Responds to your emails and grade your work really fast. 3 speeches and don't have to buy the book. I recommend.

Took her online speech class. I despise public speaking and was not looking forward to it. I'll be honest this class is a ton of work!!! But if you keep up on it you can get an A. I think she gives so much work so you if you do terrible in your speeches you still have the opportunity to get a good grade. No textbook and must submit 3 video tape

Dr. Gaythwaite is an awesome professor. This is COLLEGE and if you actually want to LEARN something and get your money's worth then take her. ATTENDENCE IS MANDATORY AND DO NOT BE LATE OR YOUR FINAL GRADE WILL REFLECT IT. But seriously guys she's cool. AND OBEY HER RULES...What's an hour and fifteen minutes without pulling your cell phone out.

Just keep up with assignments & look at WebCT. She is very understanding & helpful. Responsive. Great teacher. Gives lots of opportunities to get a good grade even if you aren't the best public speaker. She accepts no late work which is fine with me.

Super easy teacher. All tests are open book. There are 4 speeches through out the class and she makes you feel very comfortable while giving them. All assignments are on webct. Very organized and helpful. Great class!

Took online. Very responsive & helpful teacher. Grades very quick. Very clear. Theres a lot of work, but its all easy and does not take that much time. Quiz, journal, & discussions due every wk. You don't even have to do well on your speeches to receive an A. Got B's & C's on my speeches and got an A in the class. 3 Vids & No Txt book required.

I dread public speaking so I took her online. You have to collect your own audience for all 3 speeches, but it was nice because I KNEW the people, helped calm my nerves. It helps to read ahead to next weeks assignments. Her class is very involved, you'll need to be online at least 3x a week for her. Overall good prof. Really helpful and no textbook

After I read some of the comments here I was uneasy to take this class. However, the professor was very clear on her instructions, you have to keep an eye on the online calendar. Expect to do work online at least 4 times a week. Only 3 speeches and no final. If I had to take it again I would choose Prof. Gaythwaite again.

Took prof. Gaythwaite online last semester and there was a lot of busy work for the class. She gives you very clear instructions on how she wants the assignments done. No final exam just a persuasive speech.3 speech assignments in total, discussions, journal and quizzes. Keep track of when the assignments are due.

She is super nice. It's not a hard class. There isn't that many assignments either. We didn't use a book only connect. Follow her instructions...DO the homework and outlines and you will pass. Don't go by the syllabus it changes alot.

You will work for your grade!!! She grades quickly not to harshly though responds quick to any questions. About 3-4 assignments each week. Her due dates suck so watch out for that.

She was helpful, nice, and fun. She describes exactly what she wants done with your speeches. Everything is submitted and found on Blackboard; homework, outlines, quizzes. Blackboard is vital to the class. Pay attention to what she wants and do it. Speeches aren't hard and she makes the class comfortable to speak in front of. Attend & Participate.

She's very nice. She give good feedback on the speeches. I enjoyed taking her class. As long as you do good on the online quizzes then you will pass the class. I barely used the book, but I did use them on quizzes. It practically gives you the answer. I would definitely take this class again or take another class given by her.

Not only does Professor Gaythwaite make this class really easy and enjoyable to take, she also goes out of her way to help her student's pass. By far the best teacher I have ever taken. The class is a lot of work but she's so nice and such an easy grader. I ended with a 103 in the class.

Dr. Gaythwaite, is a wonderful professor I enjoyed speech online for my first time. Just be prepared there is a lot of reading and assignments due every week she releases them early for you to work ahead. I would take her again she was straight forward on what is expected.

Dr. Gaythwaite was an excellent professor. Her course is very organized and allows you to work at your own pace as far as moving ahead. She offers extra credit almost every other week and you earn the points by responding to your classmates' posts. Very easy class and would recommend. You only have to deliver one speech throughout the entire course

Find good group mates! The more interesting your topic is to you, the easier it is to present. Don't have text-heavy slides on your powerpoints, put what you need to say on notecards. She usually gives an extra credit assignment.

She was okay! I took her online. You get grade as long as you do the online discussion every week. Also a quiz every week.

I took her class online and honestly it was the easiest class. All I had to do is discussion and quiz. I didnt buy the textbook and I passed the class with an A. I don't suggest you take her in class because I saw bad reviews but online its great!

Really easy class. 3 major speeches in total of which 2 have an outline. Mini assignments/discussions once sometimes throughout the week. Easy grader. You do not have to be a good speaker to pass.

Her class requires a lot of things to be done, like downloading programs, that was something I didn't like AT ALL! Other than that, just do all said things and you'll be fine. We used the textbook, but barely. She was very nice and answers your questions well.

I took her speech class in the summer, so the course was accelerated. Assignments were due in one day but are easy, so prepare to speak! I had a hard time as I don't do very well with public speaking. No audience is required, though. Her instructions are detailed, so take your time going through them. Otherwise, she gets to emails very fast.

This professor was a tough grader, and alongside that gave a lot of work. Despite this though, she also gave good feedback and gave good instructions and directions on assignments given. There were two speeches, and she gave us plenty of time and prepared us with good assignments and discussions. If you're willing to put in the work, it's worth it.

Despite negative reviews, I took a chance on this professor; she was AMAZING! This was a summer class so we had 2 speeches / small assignments leading up to it. It was not too much work nor strenuous. Fast emailer. Impossible to fail if you follow ALL directions on assignments. I really enjoyed this class. Easy A if you need a speech requirement.

Honestly I learned so much from Professor Gaythwaite in her class. I took fundamentals of speech with her and I felt that she gave me really valuable feedback on my speeches. The class wasn't too difficult either, she's very clear about what she looks for in speeches, you just need to put in the effort!
