this is the worst teacher ever.. she doesnt even understand accounting. The class average for tests was usually a 58% and she wouldnt curve.. dont take this woman unless you want to learn absolutley nothing
it was ok, u just have to read the book
I loved this woman. Took her for both managerial and financial. As long as you show up and participate, do the problems in the book and bring questions to class, then you'll be fine.
Very nice lady who likes accounting. Can be a little scatterbrained at times though. 3 tests a cumulative final and 2 Excel problems are the workload. She gives 20 extra credit points for attendance.
Scatterbrained and not extremely good at teaching this particular class, but she gives easy tests and lots of extra credit just for showing up. She honestly tries to be helpful but she only knows one way to explain the problem. She is very nice and a fairly easy teacher. Not recomended if you want really learn accounting.
Sweet lady. Always willing to help.
Ms Olliff is a very nice lady. But, that is about where it ends. Her knowledge of accounting is limited to the text given in the book. Im s deans/presidents list student and barely squeaked out a B. My advice if you have to take her is read the book and udnerstand the examples and problems. Go to class she gives bonus points!
Took her in the fall. EVERY time I went to her office for help, the same male student was there. EVERY time. I had to ask my questions with HIM there in the other chair. She didn't make him leave. Student CRUSH? I was so frustrated! Finally got another accounting prof to help
She is nice and helpful. The workload and test was ok. I suck at accounting anyway and she does help you in everything to pass if you reach out to her. I think I flopped the final and still passed....
She's nice enough but a horrible teacher. What she teaches in class does not translate to her tests. She uses the key given by the people who wrote the book. When told that we didn't understand she just said to read the book. She also does not come to class prepared and gets crabby when asked to answer questions. Another prof. had to help me.
A very nice funny pretty lady, who will go out of her way to help you individually.
very good teacher. i recommend taking her and wish she teached other classes
Nice and somewhat Easy. 5 Hand written announced Quizzes, 3 Tests, 1 Excel Project and Cummulative Final. The Online WileyPlus HW was EXTREMELY HARD, she just started it Fall 09 Semester. I got an A, but had to work Verrrry Hard for it and the 30 Extra Points for attending every class really helped out my A.
As a teacher she sucks horribly. Don't get me wrong she's a nice woman but it just felt like another student was trying to teach us the material. The class is unorganized and she's got no clue what she's doing half the time constantly changing test/quiz dates at the last minute. I'd recommend to stay away for sure. Useless.
This class is a mess. If you don't have any interest in accounting and are only taking this as part of your curriculum you'd better go after another teacher. She doesn't know what's going on and it's frustrating when she keeps changing dates of exams and quizzes at the last second. HW and project are terrible too. Avoid at all costs.
Mrs. Olliff was Awesome! she is very fun in class and makes class very interesting. She is very helpful as long as you ask. Definatly take her for accounting.
She is really nice. Always willing to help. Although the class is all over the place I think she realized this semester that she's gotta get everything in order--for example make the tests go along with either the book or the notes she gives every day. I would take her again though.
STAY THE HELL AWAY!! The tests do not reflect the HW or the MyAcctLab.com practice quizzes and practice tests. She would constantly get frustrated with the class every AM after the exam and yell at us to tell her why we couldnt do well. If she looked at the class avg (60 on exams) youd see where the problem was...the INSTRUCTOR and test material!!!
Great Teacher. Always explained everything. As long as you pay attention and take good notes in class it is an easier class. She gives you extra points on quizzes and extra points for being in class everyday. Very good teacher dont listen to all the other stuff
She is very clear in showing you how to actually do the accounting, but some of her questions on the tests come from the book(bs detailed questions). 5 quizzes, some online hw, and 4 tests. I would take her if you want to understand the material and if go to class regularly; if you miss a day it can set you far behind the class.
The class all over the place. She is a good teacher and is willing to help, but I think she has trouble explaining the material. She does give extra point on quizzes and attendance. Quizzes are usually group quizzes, but not always. Tests are very hard and do not reflect the class.
TAKE HER CLASS IN THE SUMMER!I took her Term B Summer 2011 and it was a breeze(I'm not a BUSA major). Apparently she's hard in the regular school year, according to my colleagues. Class has no real format but the tests are extremely easy, in the summer. Oh and no book in the summer time either :D
Her class is easy, she asks you questions to make sure you understand. The textbook is not required, the tests are mainly from her lectures. One or two problems may be from the book, but she still covers the material in class. You have group quizzes and extra points for the quizzes and attendance. The only downside to her class is the project.
At the beginning the class seems easy, but it gets really hard really fast. The format of the class examples, homework problems, and tests and quizzes don't line up. She uses test bank questions, be warned. And those questions are based off the book, so while she says you don't really need the book, you really do.
She is very nice person, but as a teacher she is hard to follow. She refers to everything she teaches as "way too easy" which it is for someone who has been teaching the course for years and has made a career out of it. The tests are ridiculous and based entirely off the book since they are ALL test bank questions.
Nice lady, I had her for both Financial and managerial accounting. She's hard to follow in class but go to her office during her office hours and she explains things crystal clear. Attendance isn't mandatory but she rewards you with 3 points too your final average if you attend every day. If you want to learn take her but if you want an easy A dont
Go to class or you will be completely lost. Attendance is recommended not required. You get extra credit if you don't miss more than 1 class. Her multiple choice portions of the test are difficult because they come from the test bank questions. STUDY QUESTIONS AT THE BACK OF THE CHAPTERS! It helps. She knows her stuff. I'm taking her for 2102 too.
Do Not Take. Multiple choice test questions are hard and she does not prepare you for these. The math part of test are easy though. She is very impatient and does not like it when she is asked questions. Absolutely no excused absences, she shows no mercy, and also no partial credit what so ever..
Teaching seems like her side job. She acts like she doesn't care if you pass or fail, your grade your problem. She says she will be in her office during her hours and either be talking on the phone or won't even show. No partial credit on the math portion of the tests and she doesn't make her own tests.
I took her for term A.. and her class was pretty easy. The only people I know who struggled were people who were to lazy to study. She calculates her grades on a point system instead of percentage. I thought I had a 90 but ended up with an 86. She's very indecisive though..other than that no complaints!
I took her for term A.. and her class was pretty easy. The only people I know who struggled were people who were to lazy to study. She calculates her grades on a point system instead o
This was a tough course, but I would highly recommend taking Oliff. She is very friendly and helpful and gives extra points if you attend class.
I think Olliff is a good teacher, she explains things very well and gives you plenty of chances to get your grade up. Go to class and get an extra 20 points.
Go to class to get notes, book doesn't help at all so don't buy. Get a good group for the quizzes and make sure you are THERE. Multiple Choice part of test is hard as BALLS but the written part is just like class work. Do ALL HW and make 100 on all of them. Go to class every day and get extra point added to final grade. Attendance is a must.
I really enjoyed her class, some of the homework can be really tough. I think she makes the class as easy as possible, but it is still hard. You can work on quizzes with a group, but they are easy (for me). I recommend her.
She has NO clue what she's doing as far as tests go. She can teach fine, material is clear. Homework is a breeze. When the tests come around, half of it or more has nothing to do what we covered in class (she doesn't teach from the book-- supposedly). She enjoys rewording questions in a style that she doesn't teach as well. Avoid if possible.
Very good teacher. Well-chosen assignments. Keeps the class moving at a steady pace. Organized and clear. Good sense of humor. Witty. Do not skip class!
I loved being in her class. She knows so much and is very willing to help students understand the material better. Her tests are easy if you GO TO CLASS and know your notes well. Class always went by so fast because she was a very interesting lecturer. What ever you do, take Ms. Olliff!
We were the first classes with group tests. The group tests were really easy. Hope you get them.
I've never failed a class until now. She isn't around during her office hours. She is nice, but she doesn't do a great job explaining. Kind of scattered about sometimes. Her tests are ridiculously hard. Absolutely nothing like what you do in class. Doesn't curve your grade. If you can take this class with anyone else, I'd recommend it.
Tough, tough, tough!! 4 hard tests, she's nice but her class is hard, I studied the material over and over, when you get to the test the layout is confusing, processes learned in class are not the same as ones on the test.
Her tests are very hard. She teaches well but the tests are completely different from the lecture. I would not take this class again.
She's awesome, I took her for financial Accounting and she is an easy A if you go to class and do your work. All quizzes are done in groups. Final was easiest test given. She prepares you ell for exams and will do anything to help.
One of the nicest, and most helpful professors as long as you're willing to put in the work.
She is easy enough if you pay attention in class. She is really nice and will listen if you have problems. You do need to study since the multiple choice problems are the toughest part of the test since they are detailed.
Professor Olliff is not always clear on what she expects for the exams. She gives a lot of online homework, and three group quizzes. She's super scatterbrained, and hardly available during office hours. Will work with you if you attend class and ask questions, but not too much. She's not the best instructor, but not horrible.
She is really sweet but a bit forgetful sometimes. I know some students had issues in her class, but I think if you apply yourself you can do well. I think it was an easy A, but I am an accounting major so I'm very interested in the subject
Mrs. Edie is not the best instructor for Financial, but she is there to help you. She tries her best to round grades, and curve to help students pass, but just isn't very clear on what to expect. There are 4 exams, a project, and three group quizzes given for credit, plus excessive online homework; however, she does offer points for attendance.
She is a very good professor. She is clear about her lectures. And she gives extra credits a lot. It's not difficult to make an A if you attend every class and pay attention to it. Recommend to take her!
she gives a ton of extra and if you did fairly well in financial accounting then you should do well in this class. if financial accounting was not your thing than you will have a harder time in this class. She does a fairly good job teaching the material but i feel the class is easier for accounting majors.
I've literally missed one class this whole semester and work very hard almost everyday yet I am still failing. The tests are NOTING like anything we do in class, she pretty much makes up her own stuff along the way. She is a nice lady but won't respond to your emails and just expects you to get it with no assistance. To sum it up, don't take her.
Harsh, but fair. Go to class and the material is presented in a very clear manner. Tests can be somewhat disconnected from the material taught, since they are department level and not her tests supposedly. Do the work, and you'll do fine.
She is a very sweet lady but she's harsh on grading & attendance. The tests are standardized so she has no control over what's on them but doesn't prepare you like some of my friend's professors. This class is very challenging it's the only class I've taken it twice. She also makes you feel dumb when you reach out for help so its uncomfortable.
Professor Olliff is somewhat difficult when it comes to grading. Her tests are two parts and pretty tough, but if you understand class examples, then you'll understand part two. Homework is a little difficult, and not really reflective of class. Has a lot of opportunity for extra credit, so don't miss class!
She is the one who makes me wanna become accounting major. Clear about the lectures. Nice to students. I would like to take her again.
This class had standardized tests across the whole accounting department and sometimes the stuff that she taught did not reflect the test, leaving many student failing them. She does not give you much insight as to what you should study for the tests. She does occasionally throw in some extra credit point on your grades, which helped a lot.
The only reason I passed Accounting. I had Sneathen the first week and hated him. Switched into Oliffs class and it was 100x better! She gives very clear examples that help you learn material. Never opened the textbook, but you do have to buy WileyPlus homework access
Notes are really clear and easy to understand, homework is based off notes and easy if you watch the example video, gives group quizzes, gives extra points at the end of the semester if you have less than 2 absences, she is super nice and really helpful if you don't understand something.
Professor Olliff is very easy. Go to class and work a problem. She gives quizzes in groups and give extra credit on quizzes. The tests are kind of hard, but you have to understand accounting to pass them.
She knows her material and her lectures are good but this is a hard class. She isnt a ton of help outside of class but her heart is in the right place. She moves very quickly and each test is worth 17.5% of your final grade and they are HARD. Lovely woman really hard class with a teacher who doesnt really realize just how hard it is.
Gave a couple quizzes that could do with others in class for credit. Exams require a bit of studying. She's very nice and tends to get upset with herself when students don't understand something but she tries her best to explain. No textbook required just the code for online homework
I would take her again! She explains everything and won't move on until everyone understands! She tells you everything that will be on each quiz and exam! There is no textbook require. Your hw is online and simple. Its an easy A if you study the material and know how to do it if the materiel is switched up a bit.
Terrible teacher. Halfway decent lectures but tests are weighted all kinds of weird. One problem could be the difference between an A and a C. Pulls worksheet problems that she has never gone over in class or given via homework. Doesn't work with students for outside help. Tests are 75% of grade and gives no extra credit, quizzes, or other help.
Very nice, didn't use powerpoints so be ready to take notes everyday. Class isn't boring, lectures seem to fly by. Attendance is mandatory, allowed 5 absenses. It helps to buy hard copy of textbook. Tests are 2 parts: part 1 is about 20 multiple choice part 2 is short answer/solve it but are pretty easy and straight from the material she teaches.
She will tell you exactly what will be on the test and exactly what to study. Quizzes are in groups and she goes over them the next day. Homework is kind of hard but she has no control over that. Deadlines are final, so dont ask for an extension. Tests are really not that bad! Just study and youll do fine. I would definately take her again.
if you want an A go for someone else, she will not fail you but her class is not easy tho. made a B with good work on it. her test are confusing, but quizes on group
exams are 70% of the class, and a lot of work that does not really mean much for your grade. she give like 0.25 points in extra credits, thats funny :(
She is a great teacher and a very nice person. Accounting isn't easy but she does a very good job of getting the point across in ways that help us understand it better. You get to work on the quizzes in groups which really helps your grade. The multiple choice on tests can be tricky but if you study you will do just fine. I highly recommend her.
Great professor, go to class so you understand the material. I have taken her for both of my accounting courses and the instruction is great. Tests are a bit challenging though to be honest. I expect a B in this course because although I understood everything in class, the tests got me. The quizzes are done in groups.
She does a good job explaining the material and takes the time to make sure you understand what she is teaching. gives a lot of extra credit on the quizzes which helps with the tests since they are a bit harder than the stuff she goes over in class.
Im already a senior, and I got an A in every class I have taken so far, EXCEPT THIS ONE ! AVOID HER IF YOU CAN, she is not caring at all, her extra credit is a joke and dont help at all, and she is never in her office hours. The tests are hard and she is a tough grader. She just ran over power points during the lecture, Is hard to really understa
Professor Olliff is very sweet and caring. She has quizzes every few weeks and gives extra credit on them. Tests are pretty straightforward and similar to the homework. Best option for 2102.
Easy class if you stay on top of your assignments because they can pile up. Other than that, she is very helpful and the homework assignments help you study for the exams. She also has days in class where we just do a lot of practice which also helps us understand the material better. A great teacher overall.
She's a good person and an OK teacher but her tests are impossible. The review problems in class don't help and the homework is nothing close to the tests. There's so much to do for the class and the extra credit is the only thing that kept me from failing. The tests are not similar to the homework or review and there like 15 questions. Do not take
Extremely nice and soft spoken. Does not count attendance, but it helps ALOT if you go. Test are not to complicated but can be tricky. If you do your homework and do decent on the test you will be fine.
Overall a great professor. Gives study guides and practice problems for each exam. Each chapter has 4-5 homework assignments and has extra credit for each chapter that helped my grade much. Tests are hard and usually no more than 20 questions so go to class!!!
Class was very straight forward and she is for sure one of the best accounting teachers. The class is hard in general so your grade will be dependent on how much effort you put in. She does examples in class that are exactly like the test. Homework is all on connect and due the night before every test. Time consuming but helps grade a lot.
If you struggle in accounting take professor Oliff! Her tests are straight forward and the homework is the same type of assignments every week. Of course the tests can be difficult but she really tries to prepare you with in class examples. She is also hillarious. Attendance is not mandatory but if you do not go you probably will not pass the tests
Best accounting professor I've had. She actually cares about her students success and goes over problems multiple times until everyone understands. Typical weekly online HWs, definitely do them because that makes your grade. Tests are all multiple choice, but only like 17 q's so you gotta know your stuff. Always takes questions. Awesome lady.
Overall, it is a get what you put in class. Allows extra credit and relatively spread out due dates. If you come in with a slacker's mindset, you'll probably have to withdraw, but putting in a average amount of effort will do you justice.
Great professor, take her for accounting. The exams are difficult, but if you study the practice problems you will be fine. She also gives a lot of extra credit that could bump you up a letter grade.
The tests were hard and math heavy, so if you' re good at math, you'll pass. Or else, do all the homework and the assignments, you'll also pass. I never saw her during the office hours.
She is awesome. She refers to the class as a "team" which is awesome. Ends class early whenever possible, just an awesome person.
She can teach well but her tests are differ alot from her practice problems & study guides, because the exam questions are always worded differently to the point where your not sure which formula to use. she refuses to curve exams or drop lowest test grade. Ik im not the only one who feels this way since the class avgs on tests are always an F.
I had this teacher for both accounting one and two and she's great. She helps me after class, and she does a TON of practice problems. If you don't understand the material, just ask and she'll guide you through the homework if you're struggling. Wonderful teacher. Sadly, she doesn't teach Corporate Finance or I would have taken her for that too.
The teacher was very sweet, but did not explain the final exam study guide. Instead, she hired a tutor (Jordan Newman) to offer his expertise in accounting through a 3 hour session for [$30]!!! I am paying Georgia Southern University for an education that should include an explanation to the final exam study guide. Be ready to struggle. My 1st C.
Very bad professor first class I've ever failed in my entire school career. Her tests are way different from her study guides and they are way too hard. the material she teaches during class does not compare to her tests. I struggled so much in this class even tho I put in so much effort. don't take her
Dr. Olliff is a good professor who really cares about her students. Tests are hard, but they're all multiple choice (which many other Acct professors don't do) and fair. She gives a boatload of extra credit, you can get under a 50 on every test and still get a C if you do the extra credit, so I'm not really sure what people are complaining about
She teaches you what you need to know in class. If you go to class, do the homework, and study it is not difficult to succeed. Ms. Olliff is super friendly and answers questions with respect. Her tests are also multiple choice which is very nice. I definitely enjoyed her class more than I thought I would. I definitely recommend this professor.
She was probably my favorite business prof yet. Her classes are optional attendance, test are all multiple choice around 20 questions. Homework is very similar to ACCT 2101 (lots of McGraw Hill). Showed up to her class 4-5 times a month and passed with an A. Her class is actually entertaining as she makes the content very clear. Highly recommend!
Regardless of the professor, this class will NOT be easy; however, Edie will be your go to option at GSU. She only lectures on material that is important to the homework and exams. Her office hours are critical to do well on the homework and do well on the exam. 3-4 exams, a final, and homework.
This class required McGraw Hill. Smartbooks were due everyday and were usually 50+ concepts. Her quizzes were protracted and overly difficult. The readings were horrible. She took a while to respond and was overall mediocre. This class could be different in person, I wouldn't recommend for an online minimester.
Amazing professor!! Her lectures are not boring, and the information is easy to read on the slides she provides. There is a lot of homework in each chapter, but you can do it. Plus, she offers extra credit in each chapter, which could help you. Her exams are a little tough, but everything is straight from her lectures. I highly recommend her!!
Attendance isn't mandatory but attend every lecture as the class is very lecture heavy! Olliff is a good teacher and funny, but she doesn't take any BS. Tests were fully multiple choice and on Scantrons, while HW is on Connect. Accounting is a tough subject, so just go to class, pay attention, try your hardest and you'll be fine.
Edie is a great professor who makes the material clear. Her classes are engaging, and she's always willing to help after class. The exams can be challenging, but she provides plenty of practice problems. I found Unstuck AI really helpful for study prep too.
This is a hard class, but she is by far the best to take it with! I failed this class once before, but the way Olliff explains it during class makes the material so easy to learn. Attendance is not mandatory, but as long as you show up to class and pay attention it is not hard to follow along!
Awful professor calculator died in the middle of the exam. This is something that can happen but you would think she would be thoughtful or at least helpful. Did not care! Absolutely the worst!
She is such a caring professor! This course is tough but, she is always willing to help. Lots of McGraw Hill assignments just like accounting one. Be sure to complete the extra credit for an extra boost, you will be fine!
She is great at giving lectures and helps you understand the material, but it doesn't matter because the tests don't resemble the lectures, homework, or study guides she gives. They're usually significantly harder with no possible way to prepare for them. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
The best accounting professor there is. She's kind, and she will help you if you're really struggling with the class. Accounting is a hard class in general, so she does her best to break down problems to help you better understand. She also gives 60 points of extra credit which helps in the end. If you have to take ACCT 2101 or 2102, choose her!!
Professor replies to emails slowly and rudely. She over-explains things, and is hard to follow. Exams are extremely difficult, and they focus on the least exercised concepts of each unit. She even has a difficult time finding the right answer to her own questions in office hours. Find a different professor for this course and save yourself.
Well covered (mostly 15 questioned) exams that can get messy really quickly if you let it. Most caring professor I had. Average on exams were around 55% but I had perfect scores on first 3 exams, so success is very possible.
