honestly the worst professor ever. no notes, ridiculous tests. nothing nice to say
Do not take her!! she is not a very good teacher!! no notes, and test are all essay with about 50 terms on each test and final is comprehensive!! i would suggest finding another teacher!!!
Hist not easy,u have 2listen n pay attention 2detail in ALL classes,Ambrose puts about 6 terms on the board each class n tells u bout each 1,she has bout 30-40 terms by the time the 1st test comes,u study all u can, 4the test she puts 8terms on the board,u pik 4 2write about.all u need 2do is giv 5 facts about the term...NOT HARD AT ALL!U can BS i
I actually enjoyed this class. She is a really good teacher and really knows her history. You have to be responsible and willing to work in the class and not be lazy. I made an A in the class and it really wasn't hard. You just have to study the material she tells you. If you are lazy don't take her. If you actually care about school,I recommend he
At first the class was not appealing what so ever, but eventually I got used to her method and have no problems with it. She does kno her stuff and can get carried away. Just pay attention to the terms. If you actually pay attention n try to learn then the test are very easy, Just write a little about 4 terms. Attendance isnt a must.
only take her if you make really good grades and throughly enjoy history and memorizing a ton of terms.
Excellent professor who puts a lot of thought into her lectures
All of the people rating her must have gotten A's on the first 2 exams and not had to take the final. Her lectures are boring, and that's coming from someone who enjoyed my first History class. She is not very helpful outside of class. Don't take her if you can help it!!!
Omg..this teacher is not as hard as everyone think. she's extremely helpful outside of class, but she never stop talking. I personally recommend a tape recorder because its impossible for a human to write everything she's says..but, she's very helpful outside of class
best pro i ever had learned so much only take if like history
Ms. Abrose is an excellent teacher. Very willing to help and extremely interesting. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to learn the history of louisiana. Great teacher!
CHANGED THE FORMAT OF THE TESTS IN THE CLASS HALFWAY THROUGH THE SEMESTER. NOT WELL ORGANIZED THOUGHT PROCESS, NOT CRONOLOGICAL BY ANY MEANS
Learned a ton and was easy. Good teacher and test are essay but easy. You do have to take your own notes but wake up, your in college. If you study you will make an A. Would highly recommend.
I think I love her.
I pulled a B barely and literally studied night and day for it. She talks so fast no one can keep up and expects you to remember EVERY single word. Don't take her if you are slow or you'll fail.
She is very hard. It is very hard to follow her. She was not my professor at first, but the school changed my professors. DON NOT TAKE HER!!!
Knows a lot of information, very interesting but talks very fast. you write or type the whole class perios basically. class is never canceled and she alwasy ends at the last minute. we had multiple choice and as long as you knew the general ideas and could piece together information they werent that bad.
She is a very imformative teacher. The point of her class is to show up, take notes, and learn. She is very sweet and is willing to help anyone who asks a question. Do not take her if you never plan on attending class or not taking notes. Her whole class is based on you trying to excel, not skimming by on luck.
She was great. Pay attention and attend class. Super nice lady
Professor Ambrose is very knowledgeable, nice, and open to class discussion. If there's something she doesn't know, she offers to research it and bring it up at the next class meeting. Go to class, study the lecture material and the text and there's no reason why you shouldn't pass.
Dr. Ambrose was very personable and grades fairly easily. You will be writing all period and a tape recorder would be a good idea unless you can type fast. I can do 90 wpm and still couldn't get it all. The book is a good supplement. Those that complained about her probably never came to class much. Tests were essay but extremely easy!
Very knowledgable. She really knows her history, but not a lot of people skills. She speaks really fast and isnt good at making tests. The good news is she knows this and does try to do better.
really nice but VERY hard to follow. her lectures are scattered and she jumps back in forth so I always had to re-do my notes after class to put things in order. I'm a history major and loved the content but there are way better teachers in the history department. I don't suggest her.
Dr. Ambrose is an awesome professor! I was having a rough time after the first test, she saw I was struggling, gave me a week, then let me retake the test. She is definitly the one to take!
If you go to class take/type the notes you'll be fine. Yes, she may talk a lot but if you're lost about what she said just ask and she's always more than willing to explain it more. You might to do a little research online for notes, but if you follow what she says there's no reason you shouldn't make an A.
Dr. Ambrose is a very nice woman. She is willing to explain whatever you don't understand. I used to go to her during her office hours and she would bend over backwards to help me. I agree with those who say that she isn't good at making test, but she let's you retake them if grades are horrible. If you can, take her for history.
I like Dr. A,mbrose although she is very hard to keep up with at times....that where my iPhone recording comes in handy...lol! But for the most part, she understands and admits she has her faults and is very willing to help every student if she can. If you have a voice memo or recorder you?ll be fine. She's definitely the professor to take.
I'll admit I wasn't fond of her @ all after not doing too well on her exams, but that changed once I realize she goes above & beyond to help her students. She may be against technology in the classroom, but Dr. Ambrose very knowledgeable & has a genuine helping heart, which is very rare for college professors & I would take her again if needed.
Nice lady. Her lectures are interesting but slightly confusing. Her exams are pretty tough and problematic; however, if you talk to her and tell her your issues, she is more than willing to help you and herself adjust. She's fair but you have to show up to class, take notes (lots), read the text books, and really study hard. I made a B.
Her test were way too difficult. She is however very willing to help her students in need. I ended up with a C in the class. I wouldn't recommend her at ALL.
she's a genius, but only ONE person relentlessly got an A (super nerd.); all tests had to be curved so entire class wouldn't fail; absolutely MUST attend class; take word-for-word notes; had to make this subj. my life to achieve a B-; reason i didn't get a 4.0; DO NOT TAKE. Ambrose is a good person, but that doesn't mean you'll do well. trust me.
Very Knowledgable. Lectures are in-depth and must attend class to keep up. A must take professor, wish I could take a few more classes with her.
Her lectures are all over the place. She babbles about inconsequential stuff then tells you AFTER talking about it for 15 minutes it isn't going to be on the test. Tests are essay format, but of 30-45 terms/unit, she gives 6 from which you choose 4 to write about. That's a LOT of preparation for very little opportunity to demonstrate knowledge.
She does talk about things that won't be on the test a lot, but if you're paying attention, you can basically figure out what will and won't be worth writing. I think that she's one of the better History teachers at this institution. Panicking about her tests don't make them easier. Her final exam seems like a monster, but it was easy. I made an A.
I didn't like the class at first. The notes were hard to get used to because she lectures about irrelevant topics during her regular lecture. Her tests were in essay format. She gives plenty of room for error; if you fail a test, you can still make an A. Her final sounds bad, but she gives three vague questions, and you have to answer it. I got an
I LOVED this lady! Shes says extra information just so you can get whats going on, but just write down the important information and you will ace her tests! She will also help you if you talk to her
She gives to many FYI's so you can't tell what you need to take notes on and what not to take notes on. Her test are HARD!! I do not recommend her!
Do NOT take this professor!!!!! Don't bother with the textbook. Her tests cover TONS of material. Lists 8-10 terms per class, then gives an ENORMOUS amount of information on each term. You MUST take word-for-word notes if you want to pass, and if you miss something in class, you are screwed. Lectures are all over the place, hard to follow.
She's alright, has a passion for history. She lists 6-10 terms per class, but only gets through 5 max. You HAVE to take notes, but as she makes clear, if you can match up a term with the ideas & concepts behind it, you'll do fine. Know some dates. All grades come from 30-35 question mult. choice (varies, we had 2 exams and a non-cumulative final).
this is a class that you must go to the lecture and take notes. she is extremely knowledgeable on the topic she teaches but can skip around a bit. great teacher in my view
you have to go to class everyday. the book is worthless, everything on the tests is from the notes. she knows what she is taking about and loves history. take as many notes as possible and go to class the day before the test, thats review day. its a boring class but as long as you go, unlike i did, you will get a good grade
Gives a list of terms on BB that will be on each test. GO TO CLASS! She randomly ask to write your attendace that day down for bonus. The class before the test she reviews any questions and dismisses early when she's finished with her lesson. Test are chosen from 30 terms. She list 6, but only have to write on 4 of them. Paragraph form (5 facts).
She was my favorite teacher this semester! She is very passionate about this subject and kept me interested. Her tests were 50/50 shot to pass or fail. If you don't miss class, you can pass. Tests based on 4 out 6 terms she lists out of 30 word list. Very helpful. Will stop if you have questions.
Sweet lady, knows her stuff, but terrible teacher. I never know what's going on. She makes stuff sound more difficult than it is. I am taking 101 and 102 in the same semester and I have a 100 A in 102. I'm good in history. Just not this class.
She was such a good teacher. The class was really boring and hard to sit through though. But if you go to class and take notes, everything should be fine. She is willing to help anyone who actually wants to put effort into the class. Just don't forget to really study! I wound up with a 97 in the class!!
She knows what she is talking about but can be hard to follow her lectures. She puts up 5-8 words on the board and lectures on them all class and sometimes doesn't finish. The book doesn't help. You must attend class inorder to get notes otherwise you will be lost. She does everything in her power to help as long as you show you are commited.
Worst teacher I've had this semester by far. She is not clear on anything she teaches and her only grades, the four tests you take, are the absolute worst. She gives you a list of terms to learn from lecture (no powerpoints, online notes, etc) and then lists 4 terms for the test to write about. Would NOT recommend. My GPA suffered because of this.
Easily one of the hardest classes I have taken. She's just ridiculous in her expectations of students. She gives ~30 terms, requires we memorize 5 solid points about each, and then only puts 4 terms on a test. So if you miss 1 term, that's automatically a 75% at the most for that test. 4 tests throughout the semester.
Easily the hardest class I have taken so far. If you decide to skipnot pay attention, you will NOT do well. Get ready to write and do notecards if you want to pass. 4 tests a semester are your only opportunities to get a grade so don't ruin them. Dr. Ambrose is a wonderful instructor who will help if you ask but she's definitely a hard one.
by the far the worst professor ive ever had. her exams are ridiculous !! 50 terms for one exam, 6 go on he board and you pick 4 to write 5 main points on in paragraph form!
She gives you several terms and discusses them thoroughly so you really shouldn't have a problem getting 5 points for each term on the test if you study your notes well enough. She only gives four exams the entire semester and those are your only grades. You'll actually learn something from this class if you just pay attention and study.
DO NOT take her. She is absolutely terrible. The only 2 tests she gives, her notes are not in the book or on the internet. I am not quite sure where she gets her information, almost impossible to pass the tests. She gives no assignments nor answers a single email. Not worth your time.
I took her class online. Her lecture notes are mainly whats on the test, but the tests are extremely vague. For example, she'll ask about some event in history and then have one word answers to chose from. Most of these events are more important than being reduced to one or two words, so it makes the tests sorta of pick and pray.
This Teacher is somewhat ok but overall hard.
This lady is the worst. Took class online with very little help (as expected) however, test questions are vague and apparently written by the cat in the hat because there is no sense of it. Met her in person later as a couselor to help set up classes and she basically handed me a book to do it myself? Very rude and acted like I was bothering her.
She sent out notes. Her tests were not clearly written. Questions were either confusing or vague. The notes did not have what you needed to take her tests and neither did the assigned textbooks.
if you do not keep up with her notes (which are just big packets of paragraphs about the topic) you will quickly fall behind. She only gives 3 tests.... no homework, quizzes, anything else to help your grade. If you stay up to date on the notes and study a lot you will probably be fine but I won't be taking her again.
do not take her if you are looking for an easy online class.... she watches you through a webcam while you take her tests so you cant use your notes. her test questions are also extremely vague. Not to mention the "lectures" are just 20-30 pages of paragraphs about the topics. Theres really no telling what info will be on the tests.
Took her for online history and it was terrible. She only gives three test and the test questions are extremely vague. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
Only 3 exams, test are not a good reflection of the notes she gives, don't take her.
Embrose has helped me learn better. Her lectures are amazing. Being one of the few international student in her class she has motivated me to engage well in class. She motivates you to ask questions which is an important aspect of history. Take her class.
She only gives 4 tests the entire semester, but she lets you retake them as much as you need. The tests are written and multiple choice, and you get to take both. She was an okay teacher, it was pure lecture with no break,I felt could have been more illustrative. It was incredibly boring. Although she doesnt take role if you miss, youre screwed.
There are only 3 tests. She gives you the option of multiple choice and written. TAKE THE WRITTEN and just rephrase her own notes and you'll do just fine. The multiple choice test is super hard and very vague. I had trouble with my first test and I was able to go to her office to take the test. Her class is strictly her notes and then tests.
Dr. Ambrose is an excellent professor! She makes sure all of her students participate in her lectures and help them to understand history. Her exams are a lot to study for, but I did really well her class despite not being a history major.
Lectures the ENTIRE class time, and are very detailed and specific lectures. There is no possible way to take notes in her class. She moves at an extremely fast pace and it is so hard to keep up and understand her.
Dr. Ambrose lectures the ENTIRE class. Her test are rough but you have a choice of taking multiple choice or written or both. If you dont like history i highly dont recommend her, in class she talks no notes or textbook. Its on you to look up notes on moodle and outline your self. She also does not attendance but i recommend to go
her lectures are very boring but she puts her notes on Moodle. for her test you have to write an essay about five subjects she picks from. I'm good at history so its easy for me but almost everyone else had to drop. she changes her mind a lot too
Her teaching methods are unusual as she goes off of a list of terms and elaborates on the term. The way to pass is to not listen to her lectures but to use the notes she posts online and make note cards using those. You can almost always argue points back if you see her after class and re explain your answers. Class is not bad, just memorize
she lectures heavily and her exams are based off of The online notes no PowerPoints or homework lots to study for also no extra credit her class is pass or fail almost everyone had to drop she rambles a lot and has bad nerves and you never know what four terms Will be put on the board for test days good luck avoid if you can exams only class
You have to work very hard to pass. She is getting old so whenever I took a test she missed my main points I wrote down so I went to her after class and she gave me the points anyway. No offense but she should retire. It introduced me to hardcore studying.
Do NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!! if you are amazing at history you might do well but what she expects you to do for her test, is insane. you have three tests each test has 60 terms she only picks 7 of the 60 then you can answer only 4 of the 7 in constructed response. You must answer who what when why and how it was significant to America.
She is the worst by far, she failed me because I went off what she had on her lectures and then tried to switch it and say I needed more information. Then had the nerves to say studying for hours is not enough. I wouldn't advise anyone to take this class. She only give 3 test the whole semester, no hw, c/w, quiz or anything to boost grade. Horrible
No. Just no. She wrote down like 8 vocabulary words on the board in each class. You have to write down 5 important things about each word and study those notes. When it was time for the test, she chose like 5-6 vocab words out of the 1000 she went over and you have to choose 4 and write a paragraph on each that includes correct five points. Study!
This class wasn't easy or difficult. I passed with an A. She only gives 3 exams, no assignments. The exams stem from lists of words that she suggests you know the "who, what, when, where, why" about. On the exam, she gives you 5-6 of those words & you have to write a paragraph about 4 of them. It's not difficult if you just try lol.
Dr. Ambrose is easily accessible by email and is ready to help. Her online history class is simple and easy to pass, but you must put in the effort. There are three tests (which are the only assignments), each of which require you to pick 4 of the 6 terms given and write a paragraph on each. I made a 100 on every one. Very easy if you do the work.
She is a very nice teacher once you get to bond with her. She was behind a little bit, but we only had three grades in the system, not including participation. Also the are 3-4 terms you have to pick out of the 6 terms and write a paragraph about them but you have to be really descriptive, no multiple-choice test or extra work like assignments/quiz
Only grades are 3 exams that are proctored. You have literally like 200+ events to remember and she picks 4-6 out of the 200+ to write a paragraph on for the exams.
Professor Ambrose is the worst professor I think I have ever seen. She is rude to her students, and does not take the time to make sure we are understanding what the material is. She just assigns the work and says "here's the work, make sure you don't forget it when the exam comes around." She is a joke. AVOID TAKING HER AT ALL COSTS IF YOU CAN
She gives you 50 total terms that you have to write 5 significant points about. You have to memorize all of the terms and their points, and on the exam, she writes 6 words on the board, you pick 4 and write a paragraph with all the points in it. Being tested on only 4 events sounds easy, but you have to know every single term to assure and A.
She should have never become a teacher. This WAS not her calling and it shows within her class. She states you will lose points for asking for any sort of feedback from her exams implying its University policy. This was the worst teacher/Professor I've ever had in my entire life. You will not learn in this class nor will you want to live.
Dr. Ambrose is a amazing teacher, but you gotta come to class or you will struggle.
This was my favorite professor ever!!! She just lectures (so you need to take decent notes). Reading the textbook isn't necessarily mandatory but it does help tremendously. Shes so passionate about what she teaches.. I absolutely loveddd her. She really does take feedback into consideration, so if you have an issue you can tru and email her. 10/10!
This was a hard class for me. Her lectures are boring, had no PowerPoints and she doesn't come off as overly nice. I only passed because her test were online but I think she changed that. Only grades were a few exams that had multiple choice and short answer.
