Condescending. Talks down to everyone without knowing who she's talking to. Bases a lot of her grading on what she likes or doesn't like rather than how right or well done it may be. Everything has to be EXACTLY HER WAY. Ridiculous.

She loves William Shakespeare and the writing center. She shouldn't teach anymore because she only passes you if you suck up to her and or go spend the day and night at the writing center.
Why is she allowed to teach, a word of advice, If your that unlucky to have her as a teacher, instead of buying books buy a lolipop cuz u'll need to practice sucking up

Professor Boris helped me to expand my writing and researching skills. She pushes her students for excellence and should not be condemned for not lowering her standards. Don't be discouraged from taking her classes. She's a wonderful professor. You will take away a greater understanding of the topic
How can a horrible professor like Boris get great ratings? Have you people lost your minds? I honestly cannot believe that anyone with an IQ higher than that of a houseplant can consider her teaching method "helpful". Wake up, and give her the bad reviews that she deserves.
In Boris' class, suddenly I start going from getting A's and B's to getting F's.She is vey unfair,and unhelpful,doesn't clearly explain her expectations.Boris constantly discourages students and puts them down when they ask for help.I can't believe she is teaching.Someone needs to do something.
This teacher is an outrage, if you like this subject, don't ever take any type of english class with her. She makes her students feel dumb and tells them they aren't "college level". Also disrespects students constantly.
Professor Boris is too strict and too tough for this class, all we get is discouragement. She is not clear on anything that it resulted in failur of 80% of the class in research papers and in- class essays. I think she needs to stop teaching.

I think you should give her a chance. It is correct that she is hard but she do care and wants students to succed in her class. take your time and study hard like in any other classes. this is 102 not ENG 099.

I don't really see how Dr. Boris was that hard of a teacher. If you're taking her for a level 200 course as i was, i expected it to be a little difficult. She helped me out a lot with the work, and even though i earned a B+ it wsa worth it. Always be very prepared for her class and you'll be fine.

I just don't understand why so many classmates drop out from her class. She seems to be very hard, requires a lot of works; however, she is extremely nice and helpful. By the way, all of her essays are only 500 hundreds words.

Let me tell you, I didn't want to take Comp or any other English class. And I was scared of Prof. Boris. But she is one of the reasons why I graduated from La Guardia two years ago and from St. John's this year, with honors both times. Thank you, Prof. Boris.

Let me start off with saying that she may give loads of work. At first i hated her but i realize that she really does care about the students. If you do poorly on a paper you can always revise it. If you do her work and show up to class then you will we be rewarded. She might get on your nerves sometimes but just let her be.
Going into Prof Boris class is one of life's "peak experiences," like going to Sloan-Kettering for the first time. It's like being called into your bosse's office at 3:30 on a Friday afternoon. No, wait, it's even better. I look forward to her class like it's going to my in-laws'.
Like another comment said before she will drink your blood. If you love shakespeare spare yourself and do not take her class. She will make you hate the word shakespeare. She makes you write a five page paper needing 12 resources which is ridiculous cause you can make it with 4, 6 max. She never says what she wants until after you do it.

She is a disgrace to the profession of teaching. From my perspectives, she's the devil in the flesh, a walking decaying swine who does not deserve to teach at all. She loves to tell students that they are complete and utter failures. What's more, she does it with such a sickening passion that gives me the chills. Anyways, DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!
This professor was very helpful and encouraging. Of course, she can be demanding( i have seen much worse), but that is only because some students are not able to write at college level. On the final research paper I got an A after following her suggestions (she gives you feedback )and now I owe it to her if I know how to write research papers.

Cold and unsympathic to the plight of her students, especially those that are struggling in her class. Here's an advice, if you have her as a professor, drop her class, fast.
I gave her ones cause I couldn't give her zeros. She teachs her class like a 8th grade class. No hats, No gum, You need name cards cause after half a semster she won't know your name, No hats, and no siting in the back row. Her papers aren't that hard, and I guess she's not THAT bad but it's the little things that add up for me.
Prof. Boris is a fine lady. I'm in her class right now and she's doing a good job. Anyone who talks negative about her needs to appreciate the fact that she wants students to write better. As you can read evryone that complains about her sounds immature. Just a bunch of kids with no respect.
The no hat policy and the name tags can be a little annoying, but if you already have good writing skills her class is easy, if not you might want to stay away. As long as you play the role and get a few slips from the writing center its easy to pass.
Only two words comes to mind when describing her: The devil. She is completely evil and smelly, too. Plus, she's disrespectful to her students. I took her for drama and hated it. She spend 90% of the class time talking about how to do essays and research papers instead of concentrating on plays. I felt like I was taking Eng 101 again. On the positive side, she gives very easy essays and quizes.
Stay away from this class. She said it herself- you grades depend on her mood.... she is awful. I did get a B in the class but I did not learn a thing.
Dont do it. Miss one thing and you get a failing grade on essays. I was told by a counselor to drop the course because many students have the same issue.No point in complaining to the dean she has tenure. Everything everyone said is the truth.
Surprised so many students dislike profBoris. I'm definately not a great student and I got an easy A in this class. Hardly used text so photocopy few pages used in class. Very few assignments that are easy. As for essay exams, they were easy as long as you focus on what she asks like use thesis, sandwich technique etc. You even get to retake essay!

THis professor is Extremely hard, I would suggest for any students who have her to drop her the first week, I am A student who has financial aid. when you withdraw you have to pay for your classes. this professor gave us one week to do a research paper while we had to hand in a revision. Anybody who is taking her now, or willing to take her do yourself a favor and drop the class and take it with somebody else. I had her for The Research Paper in the six week session. On the second week of class I took a W and now Im taking it with somebody way better.

In the beginning of the semester I did not know what she wanted but I was consistent with my work and passed her class with an excellent grade. Very difficult class; she is a hard grader and apathetic to the students questions and issues concerning her expectations. Very unreasonable & will not bother to clarify even if you make office hours.Take her class & you can expect to get at least a grade lower than you normally get in any other ENG class. I took Prof Boris back in 2005. My first class in Laguardia. She is a very challenging professor. Very demanding and hard grader. English is not my first language. On my first essay I got an F, but if you put effort go to the tutors, you with pass with A. I took her for ENG 101 and got A- then I challenge myself again in ENG 102 an got an A withher
Very tough grader and very unhelpful, She was very obscure with what she wanted until you turned in the paper. Never...ever take such a Prof. I am an A student and have never gotten lower then a A on any paper but for her its like she does not give A's. We were 30 students in the class now we are only 10 left. VERY harsh grader.Change class if you have her the first day.

Before I took this class I LOVED English but then I had this professor & I soon started to hate English. She didn't give too much work, but the work she gave was difficult & she didn't explain what she wanted until you handed it in & recieved a 0 for it. The first day of class, she was sweet then became strict. She will give you an F if she doesn't like your work, but allows revisions with corrections she provides. She is a good, understanding, and patient professor, but don't expect an A unless you work hard for it.
ATTENTION TO ALL STUDENTS: Drop this class immediatly. She teached ENG 102, 103. We started the class with 20+ people, and we are now left with 7. Out of the 7, I think 3 of us will get a C. She is very difficult, expects a lot, and doesn't explain much. She will also embarrass you in front of the class and do it with a smile. Drop now!

Very hard grader. Her class is a dictatorship, you have to shut up and listen. Yes she will clearly tell to at least half of the class to drop because otherwise she will fail them. We started more than 20 and ended only 7. But if you survive you will definitely know how to write a paper afterwards.

Professor Boris is a wonderful teacher. She is challenging, but helpful. However, you must show interest in the class and be disciplined with your work. Go to the writing center every chance you get, the tutors are life-savers. Writing Center attendance makes a good impression with Prof. Boris.

She is a very hard grader and demanding. Great professor! Yes, tough, but the knowledge you'll gain will hold you for the rest of your lives. I worked hard in this class, but to this day, years later, I feel secure about my writing skills. She seems as an iron lady at first, but give her a chance and she'll show you her great interpersonal skills. I would take her again!
