He's very smart and very nice. Excellent professor. Lectures are very clear and you can actually take good notes from them. He draws R3 very well. His tests are a reasonable mix of really easy questions with some really hard ones.
Extremely straightforward. He teaches, he tests on what he teaches, he grades easy. That and he's really nice and approachable.
tests from notes and homework. sometimes unclear when lecturing, but very willing to help. Nice guy
Clear and concise, easy grader, friendly

I absolutely loved this class. I had a terrible experience in 224 with a different professor but Edoh for 225 was amazing. I recommend that any math major take a class from edoh if possible.
Good teacher. His class results in very good notes and examples. He is very interested in all forms of math, and would be glad to help.
Very intuitive and helpful. He does a good job of letting you know what you need to know for the tests and quizes. Doesn't confuse you with much superfluous information. Good partial credit grading.
In class tests and quizzes were very easy and just a matter of repeating and applying simple things. Take home tests were very hard and make you sit and think for a few hours. And then ask him for help, and go sit and think some more. But he did a great job helping you get on the right track of thinking.

Edoh is the man!!! Take a class from him!!!
Edoh is awesome. Nice easy quizzes and very available. You can learn a lot about life in general from watching Edoh.
I had him for stats and enjoyed his class a lot. He has a humble demeanor about him which makes him approachable and easy to ask questions to. I've had profs who were on their high horse and make you feel stupid for asking things. He is definitely not one of them. Take him for any math class you can. He's also very funny and interesting to listen to.
He was very helpful. I'm horrible at math (barely passed 124 and I passed his class. Visit his office.
Greatest teacher ever! made math of all subjects fun!
great math TEACHER. you learn alot in this class! test are not hard, as long as you do some homework, you need to take at least one class from him!
Edoh is an incredible teacher and very friendly, he remembers your name and is very good about answering questions. If you get the chance to take him for a class you should get in before it fills up.

He is sucha goofy man, I love it, he will always stop a lecture to say "Gesundheit" is you sneeze
I went into this class allready knowing the material, so I can't vouch for his teaching ability, however, this was one of the best classes that I have ever taken. Edoh is very funny, and says some really silly things sometimes. He likes to wear sweaters that his father knitted for him wich makes him that much cooler.
Excellent teacher - if you get the opportunity take his class! If you're ever confused even just a little, go see him in his office, very helpful!
Edoh is such a funny guy. He make random jokes during many classes that kept me laughing all quarter. He is really helpful and seems like he truely cares if you learn. A great prof overall! Take his class is you can.
Goofy guy, really smart, so smart in fact that he tends to skip over 90% of a problem's busy work assuming we know exactly what is going on. Usually not a problem, but can be confusing sometimes. He is a lot of help in office hours.
by far one of the most difficult teachers. never really taught during the class, just did the examples. if you had a question, he didn't exactly answer it with meaning...but showed you how to do it. not explain it or anything. tests were somewhat easy, except for the final. gotta be able to get math without the teachers help
He is a great teacher and is very helpful.
I hate math, but he made is fairly bearable. If you go to class, do his homework and his practice tests you'll get a fairly decent grade. I know that I probably bomced the final, but amazingly I passed the class.
hes a cutie. good class was kinda easy at first. dont give up at the end last 2-3 weeks is hard. do homework and study guide you'll be good.
Good Teacher. He is a crack up! Teaching is straight forward and easy to follow.
He's not a bad teacher just too smart for me. he would just show up to class and come up with his lectures and examples off the top of his head. He would do all the computation in his head and expected you to know what he did. I Didnt and had to miss couple examples cuz i was still trying to figure out how he got that answer. I ended up withdrawing
First off, this teacher is awesome. However, in his Limits class, it started off ridiculously easy and got ridiculously hard at the end. In the final, there were several questions I was unsure of how to even ATTEMPT. I only missed 1-2 classes all quarter, too. In my opinion, way too much material was crammed into 2 weeks where missing 1 day=screwed
Great guy. The first class I thought he was boring but he is a very funny guy, and very smart. Sometimes the class is nothing like the homework, but if you know the homework, you'll do well. Recommended.
Edoh is a really nice guy and is very helpful outside of class but he DOES NOT TEACH. class consists of him going over "examples" without any lecture at all, so students end up being completely clueless about what's going on at the end of class. hw & quizzes. lots of partial credit on tests. read book so you know what you're doing!
I was very disappointed with this class because Edoh was supposed to be great. HE DOESN?T EXPLAIN ANYTHING!!! He skips steps when doing examples and then admits that he is just ?being lazy??leaving all the students confused and lost. He is a nice guy but a bad professor.
Pretty much what you would expect from a math prof. Kinda quirky and does examples for the entirety of lecture. If you have a question about how he did an example ask, because he skips a majority of the work, but he is more than willing to answer questions. I think the years of stupid students are starting to wear on his patience though.
he starts examples and never finishes them! does them as far as i would get on my own! horrible! didn't understand anything he taught! do not take!
Only complaint is that the class moves quickly through the material. He is always willing to help outside of class (in his office) if you have questions. A nice thing is there are only three tests (one being the final) and quizzes throughout the quarter. He doesn't sign as much homework as other professors. 157 is tough, but he is a good professor.
Edoh is a really good teacher. It's easier if you've taken calculus before though. His tests are not like the homework but its more about the concept of the material. He can be confusing because he wants you to understand it instead of just giving you the equation and telling you to solve it. He's really funny too. I recommend him!
He's really into teaching his subject, but he doesn't explain anything so students actually get what he's explaining.
It's hard not to like this guy. He's a quirky man that builds/repairs boats and goes to dance classes, apparently. His use of abstract proofs are only used as a learning tool for much easier applications. Half the grade is made up of quizzes and projects, and he's a generous grader, so long as you show that you at least understand the material.
This guy is smart but way too socially inept to be teaching a class. When he talks it's incomprehensible and trying to learn the material from edoh will just get you more confused than before. Learned everything from either book or tutorial center. Practice Q's completely unrelated to Test Material. Edoh Amiran is WORST teacher I have ever had.
He is probably my favorite Math teacher of all time. I am not a Math person and took this class because it correlated with another one of my classes. He's a really quirky teacher. I enjoyed his classes! His tests are easy if you go to class and do the homework.
Bizarre... and very very good.
I absolutely adored this class. Dr. Amiran is certainly quirky, but I thought that this just contributed to his likability. His emphasis on examples to introduce new concepts required a bit of adjustment for me, but this teaching style really grew on me. His tests are fair (not straight from the book, though) and grading is generous. Lots of fun!
Amiran is a good professor and very interesting, but sometimes class became pretty boring. His quizzes/tests had there questions from both sides of the scale in terms of difficulty.
He is a pretty awsome teacher. His quizes weren't ever too hard if you stayed on top of the work. He always let you finish your quiz/ exam too if you weren't done which made me respect him much more. The material is tough and not having that time constraint helped more than you can imagine. I would recommend him to anyone.
Fantastic teacher in a hard subject. Take his class if you have a chance. One of the best in the department!
This class was extremely flexible for me as I had a pretty demanding schedule that quarter I was able to skip quite a few lectures still keeping pace with the class. The projects are great, really fun to contemplate and get in a group setting to work out. I highly recommend this to anyone in need of upper division math credits
hands down best math prof at western.
Edoh is clear and always explains what he's thinking. He truly understands what students are capable of understanding. Tests are challenging, but fair and it is always clear what to expect for tests and quizzes. He has a brilliant understanding of the material and knows how to convey his message to students even on the most basic level.
He's really easy to ask questions to in class. The textbook for this class is really useful also and I highly recommend it. His tests are also relatively easy if you pay attention in class and do the weekly homework assignments
Smart guy. Homework is not to difficult and the tests are fair. Projects are super fun and in class examples cover all kinds of modeling! great teacher.Book is a difficult read
Edoh is awesome! I wish I could take all my math courses from him. He was very helpful during class and office hours, never made me feel stupid for asking a question. Tests/Quizzes are very fair and he is a generous grader. Highly recommend.
Edoh is a GREAT professor!!! He is so funny and he explains things sooo well that if you come to class everyday, you should be able to be an A. I just wish I could take all my math classes with him.
Awkward, very friendly, and a good teacher. Writes good, short tests & grades them fairly&quickly. Final is just "Exam 4" and weighted the same as the others. The material isn't very hard to begin with, but going to class will really solidify your knowledge. I strongly recommend.
Great professor! Would recomend to anyone. he is really great at providing multiple ways of thinking about problems. If you are thinking about taking him you will not regret it
It takes a while to get used to his teaching style. He is very helpful and has a sense of humor, don't be intimidated by the crazy example problems he gives in class, his tests are easy and very similar to the homework. Read the book and do the homework and the class shouldn't be too bad.
Really takes the time to go over tests and give you the correct answers. He will explain things if you ask, but sometimes I don't think it helps and left meothers more confused. He's super smart and I don't think he realizes when things went over our heads. Besides this, he is super nice and open to office hours.
Edoh was the best math teacher I have ever had. I hadn't taken math in over 3 years and he made jumping back in at the calculus level much easier than expected. He is probably the fairest exam and quiz grader I've ever had. He is awkwardly funny and it's hard to dislike him. Willing to explain anything if people are confused. Take him if you can!
Edoh is a very nice, and actually quite funny, professor. I have no interest in Calculus, but the class was alright. The one thing I did not like about the class was that he uses his own textbook. The textbook format was very confusing and I learned nothing from it.
Edoh is one of my favorite math professors. He doesn't talk too fast, writes clearly on the board and presented the topic well. His lectures were pretty good and thoughtful. During office hours he was helpful and personable. His grading is very fair and he gives good feedback. I look forward to taking more classes with Edoh.
Mr Amiran is very approachable and helpful if you go to his office hours. There are weekly homework assignments, two midterms, and a final. There are quizzes every few weeks which do not count toward your grade but are meant to help you check your comprehension. I would take a class with him again.
He's nice, and funny. But incredibly confusing. His lectures are very vague, and he just assumes everyone gets it. Ask a question, it just get's more confusing. He uses his own book, which the answer key is half wrong for, and it looks like an english book.. He writes math problems out like a sentence, which is completely confusing.
I honestly loved his teaching. Some of the examples can be confusing but he is willing to help you and go over them! He is a very personable teacher. The examples he teaches in class are very similar to the ones on the test. He has quizzes but they are ungraded to help you prepare for the tests, which is really helpful.
Edoh is a great professor, and easily one of the best in the WWU math department. He takes great care in answering questions and makes sure the class understands the material before moving on. Expectations for tests/quizzes are crystal clear and leave nothing to imagination. Take classes with him if at all possible; you won't regret it.
Edoh is my first choice math professor! He gives good feedback on how to approach math skills. He cares about the well-being of his students and our understanding of the concepts. He really makes an effort to know if we understand everything. Sit in the front, focus for 50 minutes, and do test review questions.
He's good at explaining things, and his office hours are very helpful. He's a good professor and a good person at that. He's funny, makes class enjoyable, and can explain things in different ways.
do the practice problems and go to office hours for solutions, because they are very similar to the exams! lectures are confusing, so read the textbook beforehand.
Edoh is easy to follow along to and though his class is 88% test grades he gives practice questions that prepare you enough. He's available for help outside of class and doesn't assign too much HW
Edoh is quirky and fun. He clearly loves math, but he can explain well to students who don't. He will take class time to go over homework, but you have to bring it up! Ask questions and he will explain. Remain silent, and he will lecture on. I do recommend briefly reading the chapters ahead so you can be on the same page.
Probably one of the best math courses I've taken at Western. Although tests were worth 88% of the grade, they were doable if you did the homework. He was open for office hours and gave test prep questions which really helped. Would take again!
I adore Edoh as a person, but his lectures were fast paced and confusing. His tests were fair and easy--definitely an easily-passed class, but I didn't learn much about linear algebra. I would highly suggest reading the textbook before coming to class because he does a LOT of practice problems, but doesn't explain concepts in depth.
226 is a course that requires a professor that really knows their stuff, and Edoh is a true master. Helpful during office hours and could really explain complicated material in ways I could understand.
His exams are relatively easy and homework is all from the textbook with ungraded webwork problems. Just take the time to do all of the homework and a few of the webwork problems and you should be golden. Takes the time to clear up any questions on materials and doesn't treat you like an idiot if you don't know something.
Edoh is not the best at giving lectures. He is heavy in math concepts (especially vocabulary) that he expects you to remember from lectures when we barely went over it with minimal explanations. He isn't very accessible during non class times and isn't very good at explaining concepts to students that aren't understanding. 88% of the class is tests
Edoh lectures exactly what the book says and has no real teaching skills. Spends the whole hour spewing theorems with maybe two examples for a whole section covered. Expects you to remember every aspect of prior math classes and is not very good at explaining concepts. Online videos will be your teacher. He is pretty rude when asking for help.
Edoh is a great professor. This was my second quarter with him and I can say this much; His classes are deceptively simple. This doesn't mean they are necessarily easy though. With Edoh it is important you know the ideas behind the mathematics you are doing. He is not going to give you any hard calculations. Just master the concepts.
Edoh is a solid choice for 204. Despite snow and coronavirus setbacks, he got through all the material for the course, and it did not feel rushed at all. Always available for extra help, and his tests are directly related to what was covered in class. He is also a fair grader - lots of partial credit.
Edoh is a math wizard. Had him for math 225, and it was a pleasure. He understands everything about math and it blew my mind. Super accessible outside of class, best math prof I've had up until this point.
Everyone says Edoh is amazing, but I have yet to have that experience. He gave us a 70 page PDF at the beginning of the quarter and basically told us to learn the material by the final. The PDF itself leaves lots to be desired. If you understand technical terms you might have an easier time, but I had to teach myself everything via khan academy.
Avoid for any online classes. He puts no effort into the class. I knew I was signing up for asynchronous, but I assumed there would be some level of instruction greater than distributing a pdf. He has (far too many) office hours instead of putting time into creating or curating content for his students. The tests are hard and dont match the "book"
This class is the definition of hands off. Amiran gave us a 54 page PDF in an email the first day of class and that's all the explaining he will do. There is nothing on canvas, little to no help online, and the PDF is so technical it's incomprehensible to read. I paid thousands of dollars to receive a non-descriptive document of mathematical jargon
Sadly this might have been the worst asynchronous class I've taken. My other asynchronous classes have recorded lectures and good reading material. For this class, we just got one big PDF of the prof's notes at the beginning of the quarter that is hard to understand. No lectures, no recorded lectures, etc. Had to teach myself every single thing.
At the beginning of the quarter, he handed out a pdf of notes and a schedule to follow. I didn't mind that the class was asynchronous. I was able to work ahead, and when I had questions, he was always willing to spend an hour or even two to talk about it. He's the best. The subject is difficult, but as long as you put in the effort, you're fine.
Took an asynchronous class from Edoh, and despite the COVID-related circumstances he was incredibly helpful. Lots of office hours in which he was super understanding and tried his hardest to make sure you understood the material. Teaching style could be a turnoff (pdf of notes at beginning of quarter), but grades a lot easier than most profs.
Edoh grades on whether or not you comprehend the material, and gives a lot of credit for showing your work. Always available for office hours and explains material super well. One of the best professors Ive had so far.
the material was difficult but he made it very understandable and he really wants students to succeed. I felt like I genuinely learned a lot
This professor is very caring and is generally considerate when it comes to grading. (I once mixed up some vocabulary and missed an entire section (1/4) of an exam. However, he still gave me half credit). Additionally, this professor seems to expect you to read the sections before class. However, while challenging for me, I still give him a 4/5.
Actually math 124. Professor doesn't seem like he likes teaching. He wants you to learn, but he does it by showing concepts that don't apply to the class and tons of practice examples while refusing to state rules explicitly for stuff like derivatives? The way he teaches was not conducive to my learning whatsoever. He's nice, though
The lectures Mr. Amiran gives are amazing and definitely should not be missed. He always strives to answer whatever questions are given and will give many useful examples in class. Reading the textbook sections that will be gone over before class is a big help but is not needed based on my experience. Grading is very fair and Edoh is a solid prof!
Very nice and helpful guy, but teaches rather abstractly for a 100 level class. Overcomplicated simple concepts and spent too much time feeling the need to give proofs for ideas that were out of the scope of the class. I don't think he often teaches lower level maths, so avoid him for that if that's your case. Otherwise great and accommodating guy.
This man is a genius. Take a class with him if you can.
Edoh is amazing, my favorite teacher at Western so far. He's very gentle and kind, and his lectures are dense but perfectly paced. He's very easy to talk to, he loves that we're paying attention and asking questions. I found the homework to be totally reasonable, and exams were exactly related to homework and lecture. Edoh is an awesome prof.
My biggest con with this class is that he didn't use Canvas so you never knew what your grade was and you couldn't calculate it yourself because he wouldn't actually count discussions every few weeks. He also gave very hard homework that never used what we did in class, only good thing is he grades on if you tried your best. Edoh is a nice guy.
