Pretty easy class, Learned everything i learned in high school econ. EXTREMELY BORING class!!!!! There is a ten page paper due at the end of the class, we haven't turned it in yet. I wouldn't recommend to take just for fun. Only take if you need the class. Take him before you take Nagai.
Econ isn't easy, but he surprises me with his real world examples on how to make $$$ using econ. He's an X-banker and sometimes tells funny stories. He's organized, has a good attitude and cares. That's rare at Delta.
What an awesome guy! I have never really been into Econ. at all, but he has changed my views. He actually makes the class easier by using real time events to drive his points home. Don't hesitate to ask him about pointers on your own financial situation as well as questions about the material covered in class. Very helpfull and smart guy!
Ed is an awsome teacher. He gives out one hw assighnment for each chapter which includes extra credit towards your hw grade. The tests are pretty straight forward only if you read the chapters and study the handouts he lectures on. However he will drop you if you have consistent abscences even if you come on tests days. I highly recommend him for E
Great teacher, tells funny stories, and give you tips on how to make money. I suggest you take his class.
Ed is a great teacher! Although he gets caught up in his own little world of economics, he relates the topic to the students. He gives insight on how to use the lessons learned from the course in real life.
Ed is awesome. He makes econ understandable and relates the subject to the real world. Whether or not you are interested in econ take him, he will really help you in more ways than one. Just bare with his quirky remarks, he really is a funny, careing, and smart individual.
Better than Seelye, Nagei, etc. that is for sure however you MUST do the work to even pass the class with a C. IF you also demonstrate performance on the exams with a pattern like Bt, A-, and A+ and then on the final A he may be willing to help you out when it comes time to grades but not too much. He does NOT grade on a curve. Come with open mind.
I had to re-take ECON001B because I failed with Nagai. He uses PowerPoint all the time. His courses had taught a lot that Nagei don't. He even gave out the mock test to prepare ourselves for exams and a final. He even will read your draft term paper and give you comments. I got an A on my term paper. Yes, he have a sense of humors. Fun class.
He's a great econ teacher. He cares a lot about his students & gives a lot of tips on how to get rich. I'm actually considering taking one of them. The final is based off of his hw assignments & his lecture. Besides that he explains a lot of our current econ. crisis, how it began who's to blame & what we can do about it the fin. ppr brings evry1 up
torres is nice but really really boring he class is lecture every day he is in his own world all of the time overall he is ok i guess
one of nmy favorite and best professors at delta, and i hated economics prior to this class! hes always w/a smile and sense of humor ..it hard NOT to get an A or B seriously, he gives out lots of mock tests that are similar to the final..veryy helpful and clear..truly cares about his students and gives the best advice on life
Really liked his class. He gives you almost every thing you need in class so you don't need to look in the book much. I thought it was really easy, workload was pretty light. I really liked his advice and he was pretty eager to help too. Want a quality teacher where the work is easy and you can actually learn(only if u want to lol) Ed's your man!
Took macroeconomics and nearly failed. This prof is probably one of the best Economic instructors out there. He is very experienced. Always has a smile on his face, makes sure the class never gets too boring. He makes economics so easy and interesting. He also gives students great financial advice!! Loves how he criticizes the govt. TAKE HIM !!
Great professor! Makes economic delightful. At times he can get boring but overall his classes are fun. He seems to enjoy teaching his class and always has a smile.
the best econ teacher delta has to offer. always has a smile and is super enthusiastic about the class. puts the material into plain english and makes funny jokes. i definitely recommend him for people who arent econ majors cause he's easy to understand & people who are econ majors cause you'll learn a ton!
Ed is a fun but very practical teacher. I strongly recommend you go to class everyday and pay good attention because most of the test questions come from the lecture, but he goes over them enough to make sure you learn. HE HAS LOTS OF REAL-WORLD KNOWLEDGE and will make sure you leave with some of it. He gives you good stock tips and VERY LITTLE HW.
He is a great professor and I can tell he has passion of teaching economics. Most of his lectures are straight forward and you just need to follow the powerpoints, but don't depend on it too much. If you do the homework & study for the tests, this class isn't that hard. I highly recommend him as a professor.
Mr. Torres is the REAL DEAL when it comes economics. Not only will you learn about economics, but more importantly how economics affect your life as well.Ed has real life experience, and what he says is dead on.He's a fearless teacher who allows you to make up your mind. Yet, after seeing what he has to say, it would be foolish to disagree with him
Mr Torres is not only the best econ teacher but one of the best teachers period at delta. is super informative about economics and relates to everyday life. he gives you the notes for the chapter on a printed powerpoints so note taking necessary. the whole class is just lecture mostly with very little hw. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
This class was pretty easy. Just a few tests, 5 very simple homework assignments, and 1 term paper (which is broken down into sections, so its quite easy). Just pay attention to lecture and study the powerpoint handouts. WARNING: His teaching style can be VERY boring because he gives printouts of the lectures which leaves no need to take notes
Mr. Torres is a great teacher! I am taking him for econ 1a in the fall. The class is very simple. All you need to do is pay attention. I never new economics could be this easy!
take him for econ A/B at the same time, easier that way. hw and tests are both multiple choice. 1 term paper. gives out powerpoints for each chapter. easy, but that's because he's extremely thorough when explaining the material. awesome teacher. MY FAV!
Mr.Torres is such a funny professor! His class is easy, but you end up learning a lot. You rarely use the book, but if you really want an A, get the book. Show up to class b/c he hands out a lot of powerpoints/lectures that have the answers to homeworks and tests. He is very passionate about economics and this makes his class more interesting.
Out of the two courses, macro is definitely the better choice if you're looking for an interesting class. Micro, however, is more straightforward. Torres provides a good beginning foundation that is only slightly challenging to understand. One negative thing is that its easy to OVERthink his exam questions because many are situational.
Recommend him to everybody. If u want a teacher who would teach u alot and help u to get a good grade,he is the best choice. Easy A, clear, useful material that applies to ur life.
Mr. Torres is a great teacher! He really knows his econ & does an excellent job of making it interesting n understandable. Grading is based on hmwrk, 4 tests, paper, and final. He's a funny guy n I hardly ever opened my book. I would highly recommend him to anyone! A+++ teacher!!!
He takes complex theory and makes it easy by using formulas, PowerPoints and real life applications. A business major's dream. He is clear, to-the-point, but his tests are not so easy. 90% of his humor is good, but he bombs out 10% of the time. You learn about business and how Uncle Sam is F-ing us. He is damm good at what he does. Take him!!!
I agree with the previous comments Torres is a great teacher funny character. he hands out a lot of power point papers which basicly have the answers to the homework, and i really enjoyed all real life examples. if you care about whats going on in the world and your future take this class!!
He was a very good teacher. We only had 3 test the whole semester and they were very easy because they were based on topics that he would clearly go over in class. Take his class if you need it.
easy teacher, because the class is base on 3 test, a term paper, and a final. In class he gives homeworks but they arent worth much, also gives out power points so you barely have to take notes! And he teaches about real life example and how you can apply economics to it. so you really learn a lot of interesting stuff, took both econ 1b and 1a
One of the only teachers who actually teaches. I learned a lot of life valuable information from him and will use much of the information that he provided in my future. The class is easy as long as you do the work and what is asked of you. If you don't understand something, ask. He is also a great mentor.

Ed. is the best Econ teacher in Delta College. If you have to take Econ 1A or 1B, he is only teacher who knows Economics. He is ganna give you practical examples fron his life
He knows his economics and will make his students understand, and love it! He gives you useful information that can be used later in life- even I'm going to use some of his tips. He does have review days before the exams, and will prepare you to do good. I actually looked foward to going to his classes, I took both macro and micro, you will too.
as a professor, he is mediocre, his personality is very dross, but hes extremely easy, all he requires is a huge paper at the end. will never take him again, and I am thankful for it
This is the best teacher I have ever had with the best class I have ever had. He really knows a lot about economics and is a super nice guy. Instead of teaching all about material, he takes time to relate it to the real world. The info he gives helps so much with learning how to use your money and become rich. Im going to take his great advice!
Great teacher! Very Clear, makes econ look so easy. Relates things to real world explains what happend to this reccesion. I took Econ AP in high school so I had some background so I didnt really use the book at all but he is still great I defintly recomend him!
I took Mr. Torres for both Econ 1A and 1B. His lectures are very clear and related to the everyday world. Not much HW, only about 4 tests a semester which are fairly easy and he gives a "mock" test the class before for review. There is a 15 page term paper due at the end, which his students are more then prepared to write.
Mr. Torres is one of the greatest professors at Delt roster. He is very sharp about his economic stuff and explains very well. If you read the chapters he assigns at the end of the semester do the term paper, there is no way you cannot pass his class with good grade. HE IS RECOMMENDED.
I took Mr. Torres for both 1a and 1b. He is a great teacher that is very understanding and helpful toward the class. There is extra credit on every test and the tests are mostly true/false! He gives out homework but he gives you a week to do it and it is multiple choice. Go to class and you are sure to get a good grade. Take him!!!!
What an AMAZING teacher! I learned so much from this class. Mr. Torres makes Economics very easy to understand. I enjoyed this class a lot. There is not a whole lot of work involved and one term paper very reasonable!
Great teacher. applied economics. highly recommend to others.
Mr. Torres is an easy teacher in a sense that his lectures are not at all boring. He relates to what he is teaching with current news. His test consist of half multiple choice and half T/F. He will give you practice test and homework is just mc. There is one term paper at the end which I got a C yet I passed the class with an A. There is EC given!
Ed Torres is the best Econ teacher ever... Makes econommics easy!
Very cool professor! He made Econ to me very interesting and enjoyable. His powerpoints are the best and will guide you through the class. Tests are easy, as long as you pay attention in class and read the assigned chapters in the book.
Great teacher! I highly recommend to take his classes. He was very helpful and his classes are fun. Just read the book, study, and you'll get a good grade in his class.
Mr. Torres is one of the nicest teachers at Delta! His lectures can get a little boring some days. But he throws in some jokes and stories and makes it interesting. Homework and tests are fairly easy. He prepares you for the tests. His powerpoints helped a lot. One term paper that was some work but he grades pretty easy. Take Ed Torres!
His lecturers are interesting if you care about economic issues that impact our daily lives. His lectures are also very funny with his life experiences and stories in the business world. Just study his power point, read the textbook, and follow the powerpoint directions and example for term paper and should pass. He is a reasonable teacher.
Very very very nice instructor. Knows the subject very well and is able to explain the materials to his students. Study ur exams, put effort into ur final project, easy A class.
Great Econ teacher. Mr. Torres is very helpful and gives very clear instruction on assignment. Very informatics class, I Learned so much from him and I feel like being awakened from a deep sleep from macro econ field after taking his class. Mr. Torres teaches us by using his real world experience. I wish he would be teaching in CSU Stanislaus.
Mr. Torres is a great Econ teacher. His lectures can be boring at times, but he lets you have a copy of the power point to study from. There is an 8+ page term paper, which is not hard. The tests are all T/F and MC. If you put your full effort into the class, it would be hard to get less than a B. I highly recommend taking econ from Mr. Torres.
Awesome teacher. Thinks like an Economist. Easy class if you understand the concepts. Read the ppoints he posts online and do the mock tests. Start your term paper early and there should be no reason you dont pass. Semester went by so fast we only took 2 tests. Make sure you read too. He'll steal vocab terms from the chapters and put them on tests.
Ed Torres is one of the best professors at delta. He really loves economics and got me loving it too. Hes relatively new at teaching but if he didnt tell you, youd think he had been teaching forever.. Take Ed hes great.. There is a large term paper but dont be scared off by this assignment he teaches you everything you need to know..
One of my favorite teachers! He is a great teacher all around. Economics bores me but he did his best to spark everyone's interest. I love it. I received a B in the class because of the lack in studying for one exam! My fault but I picked up the slack. Read the chapter, pay attention to his lectures, & take notes while he lectures.
Great Professor. He is the best because he teaches positive economics, not normative economics like most other economics professors.
He is a nice Professor. You can get a good grade if you don't procrastinate. Do all HW and study well for exams then you're good. Term paper is required, at least 8pgs, sounds like a lot, but very easy to do. Take him!
Professor Ed was cool. His philosphy of economics is unbiased and he let the statistics speak for itself. Made me really look into majoring in Economics in the future.
He's very libertarian; get ready to spend 20% of the class learning about Microeconomics, and the other 80% hearing about how "other professors" hate capitalism for questioning the free market. Not kidding. Imagine if Fox news were a college course, basically, and this is the class. Over all, he's a nice guy, though.
Torres knows his stuff. His lectures are long, but they make all the difference between a pass or no pass, so DON'T MISS THEM. The homework is not hard at all, just do the reading. You WILL need to read the textbook too because his powerpoints don't cover every little detail, and those will be on the exam. Term paper of 8+ pages is very doable.
He really wants you to live economics, he makes sure that you learn the real world economics and not just what the book covers. He is a great teacher but sometimes goes off on how other professors hate him but it is funny.
One of the best classes I have ever taken. I am so glad i took his classes this summer, his lectures were long because it was a summer class, but he always had a joke to tell to keep us wake. Two exams for both classes and a simple "term paper" for 1A because we ran out of time. I got an A in both classes but I think he weighs participation heavily
He is very passionate about economics. Not much homework and lectures a lot so don't miss class, but they're very interesting! You will need the book because he doesn't cover everything in class. 2 tests (midterm and final which is comprehensive) and one term paper which isn't too difficult. Great guy and great teacher, I recommend!!
He's okay, lectures can sometimes be boring. Homework and extra credit are easy, not so much on tests.
This instructor was constantly late to class which made the other students think it was okay to walk in late. It was disruptive. This was supposed to be an online hybrid course but he didnt utilize it so our class was way be behind. Semester is over and I am still waiting on the final grade to be posted.
I liked his customized audio-visual lectures, his simplified PowerPoint slides, mock tests, sample term papers, and his real world examples like how to use Excel to quickly solve econ problems. He doesn't play useless graphing games like other professors, he tells you straight-up how to apply micro to solve lots of business problems & get ahead.
Professor Torres is very passionate about teaching economics. I thought lectures were very boring, but I also have little interest in the subject. He can be pretty funny sometimes and there is little homework, but there is an 8-15 page paper that is no fun. He offers extra credit on the tests as well. Easy B, must do well on tests/paper for an A.
Such a nice guy who is obviously passionate about Econ. However, almost never talked about the topic itself and mostly told stories about his own experience in economics. Class was dreadfully boring, but I did receive a B that I definitely didn't deserve. Would recommend simply because of Ed himself.
I took him over the summer for both micro and macro. I'm actually a UOP student but wanted to knock those prereqs out of the way. Ed was one of the best professors I've ever had. I learned so much in his class and it was only 6 weeks, 2 days a week. sometimes it could get boring but he would tell stories about his experience as a banker. TAKE HIM!
Torres does know his stuff without a doubt, but just be prepared is all! The paper at the end of the semester may seem hard but it really isn't. I did pass the class still. Just mainly be on time and be there that way you don't fall behind. I do recommend him if you like economics or heck even business.
Prof. Torres is very knowledgeable about Econ. I learned quite a bit in his class, more than I expected. He's very lenient w/ late homework assignments and absences. There's about 7 homework assignments(about 20 ?'s each/multiple choice), 1 term paper, a midterm/final, 2 exams. The textbook isn't mandatory but it is helpful. Easy A if you try!
I took him for econ 1a and 1b. I am a very good student but I got a B in both classes. It is fairly easy to get a B if you study and do the work, but you really have to do well for an A because our grade was based on 2 exams, a few homeworks, the term paper, and the final. If you aren't getting A's on the exams you probably won't get an A overall.
Cool guy, almost impossible to fail any of his tests. Lots of extra credit opportunities too, 5/5 would take again but I'm getting that easy A instead :)
He is one of the worst professors that I have ever had. He makes bad jokes and all he ever does is talk about himself and not about econ. I would not take his class again because he doesn't teach at all and his powerpoints and lectures are so unorganized. Everything is self taught and he doesn't help you with the homework if you don't understand.
Cool professor, very helpful and easy to talk to. Do your part and you won't fail. Will take him again for my Econ1A. Very nice guy!
I took him for Econ 1A & 1B and I got B's in both NO MATTER HOW MUCH I STUDIED I NEVER GOT A's on his tests THE WORDING OF HIS TESTS IS HARD FOR MYSELF AS English being my second language take ALSO HE WAS NEVER CLEAR ON HOW THE PAPERS ARE GRADED
He's great professor who's also very practical. If you've taken his Macro economics class then you can expect Micro to be a breeze as he repeats most of the concepts. He gives extra credit opportunities on his exams and homework. Everything he teaches in class is in docushare in case you missed something or need review.
Really great guy overall, no doubt my best professor at Delta. Just can't go wrong with him, easy A and super informational.
taught very well. easy A
He is a nice person and a good professor, he tells you that getting an A in his class is not easy and you have to do the reading and the review to pass, and he really was not kidding about that. I passed his class but not with the grade that I could have gotten. I'll still be taking him again for Micro, and as long as you do your part, you'll pass.
1A & 1B classes have the same format & requirements. Dont procrastinate on the term paper. He tries to make lectures funny. Respect to the man cuz Ive taken econ elsewhere and he really breaks it down for you to understand- aka he knows his stuff. Made me want to consider the Econ field since he made learning interesting. Great educator.
Torres was a good professor. However I found his lectures didn't help too much when studying for his exams. However, he does provide practice exams that are extremely helpful in preparing for the real exams. Just understand the all the concepts covered in the practice exams and you'll do well on the exams. The term paper was required to be 10 pages
Very respected and honorable professor. Took his class and passed very easily. In order to pass with best grades, you just need to understand the basics of economics. Even if you have don't like econ, he can make it perfectly easily as long as you are ready to learn. One of the best professors in Delta college. Best of luck!
Mr. Torres was the best teacher. Just go to class, participate, make yourself known by talking to him, and just do your best on the homework and final paper, and you'll receive a good grade, especially if you take him during the Summer because he's A LOT easier.
This teacher gives so much work! He gives a lot of homework at least once a weeek and it's hard. He gives hard exams and the study guide are nothing like his test.
I have taken this professor for Econ 1A/1B and you earn the grade depending on how hard you study for it. Professor Torres gives you multiple resources from class powerpoints, chapters from book and what sections to omit from studying , and audiovisual powerpoints. All on docushare. He also gives feedback on rough drafts for term paper! Very kind.
Awesome professor. He is very passionate about economics! I LOVE how he breaks down Econ and allows you to apply it to through the real world. He gives lots of resources from his power points to mock exams. Review them and you will be prepared for his exam. Class wasn't exactly hard. You just have to know the basics and skim through the textbook.
The guy really knows what he's talking about. He makes class interesting. Make sure you study for the test and do your homework because doing bad on one test will impact what grade you get. Do the term paper too. Overall, really good teacher. One of the best I've taken at Delta.
Ed is amazing he knows what he's talking about and he cares about his students. His lectures are insightful and he is willing to clarify the homework or any questions and he's a funny guy! Do the homework and mock test to get a feel of what will be on the exams. Will definitely consider a degree in economics because he was such an inspiration.
Easy A if you really study all the powerpoints. He gives mock test before the exam which is great! Also, I found it useful to do the online study questions to better explain the vocab. There will be a term paper that's due towards the end of the semester so I suggest to start on that as soon as he talks about it.
Mr. Torres is a super nice and kind person, he does chop heavy terminologies down into daily spoken languages. And he is a bit sarcastic and fun too.
EXCELLENT! Very knowledgeable and easy to understand.
The class is reasonable. Show up to class and pay attention to the lectures because a lot of what he says during his lectures show up on the tests. You need to buy the textbook for the access code which has the online homework, check DocuShare for mock tests and powerpoints. Funny guy take him if you have to take micro or macro!
very funny lectures that ties in many aspects of not just microeconomics but also macroeconomics, if a monkey like me could get a B+ in this class I don't see how anyone could possibly fail this class unless you do actually nothing :D
Don't take him for Econ 1B. Gets off topic a lot and starts talking about random things and doesn't follow up with students who need help or care about their education. He is never in his office hour and doesn't care to email students back. Don't learn much in his class. Be prepared to teach yourself.
He is a professional first. He tries to be funny but he is a little dorky. However, he puts a lot of work into making the class as easy as possible. There is a helpful video for every chapter. There are three exams, with a medium level of difficulty. The term paper is a lot of work and he grades it pretty tough, but he'll review it beforehand.
Took his microeconomics course during the SUMMER, so he went through the material fairly quick. Homework every week, two midterms, and a short research paper. Since he has had practical experience in his previous profession, he will often tie the theory behind his lectures with real-world applications. Always reviews over the material before test.
Took this Econ online and this was not a fun class. Very disorganized. I emailed him a couple times with some questions and no answer. He includes powerpoints and you also have the textbook but even then the homework is hard. His questions are worded super weird. Might be a great class in person, but terrible online. It doesn't seem like he cares.
Torres is a great professor. He has been helpful since day one of transitioning to online due to covid. Fully supports his students with audio-video lectures, announcements, and anything he can do to make this semester not feel overwhelming. The exams have been straight forward in class and online (as long as you read and listen)
Professor Torres is a great choice. He is funny and easy to talk to. I took him in the midst of the pandemic and he made the transfer to online smooth and easy. Would recommend him to anyone looking to learn about Economics but not be stressed out.
Professor Torres is one of the best economics teachers at Delta. He is very funny and relaxed. He teaches you everything you need to know and is an easy grader. The exams are not hard at all. They are more common sense. Very good professor recommend him to anyone who wants to learn and have fun in economics.
I've taken Microeconomics and Macroeconomics(Econ5) together in Spring. It was quite difficult but I'm glad I passed. He gives mock tests but I'd prefer study guides. Reading material and Powerpoint/audio lectures are heavy. The exams are also heavy, about 80-100 questions so make sure you study well. There's also a term paper.
i took econ online and the tests were really hard but i ended up with an A-
Class was very disorganized. Made many lectures that are 3 hours to 5 hours long. These are during the pandemic times and I feel like he had nothing else to do. Made a 3 hour two part lecture on Thanksgiving and told us if we did not watch it, we would be broke. Left me very sad and I would not take this Professor again.
he talks very slow, easy to take notes. Refers to himself in the 3rd person a lot. No direction when teaching class. Barley explained demand curve or how graphs work, had to learn through book. Talks too much about Silicon Valley. Never goes over past reading material. Not helpful in zoom meeting. Attendance is 15% but meetings not mandatory???
This class was okay! The lectures were long and confusing at times. There are a total of three exams and they are pretty tough. The final paper is also long and tough. You have to put in time and work to pass this class.
Prof. Torres is a funny guy. He has great humor and knows his stuff. I took the class online and the recordings are great, however, they are from 2019, so sometimes can be a bit awkward. Overall, he has great lectures and attitude, and offers office hours once a week, so if you have any questions he'll be there for you.
Not a bad professor. He's a braggart and quite funny, for me at least. lecture is usually helpful. Textbook is necessary for test and quizzes. Workload is rather heavy for a 3 unit regular start class. But his sense of humor make the class not as dry. I would recommend him and I will take his macro class next semester.
Get ready to work for your grade. Few work but major assignments. Boring long lectures and test heavy. Three major tests?? with over 80 questions each (midterm, final, and a bonus one for his enjoyment ?) Does not follow the syllabus dates and He also demands an economic paper with 8 pages minimum. Consider taking someone else online if it allows.
Honestly, Professor Torres is one of the best Professors Ive ever had, despite the grade youre all looking at, LOL! He genuinely did everything he could to help me pass the class, which I greatly appreciate! His assignments are HILARIOUS and nothing short of enjoyment! Just make sure you study and check your calendar for due dates! 10/5 in to me!
Professor Torres is very insightful and generous. Offered extra credit and curved hardest exam. Provided economic advice. Course was challenging but doable! Grade was based on 3 exams, lengthy paper (8 pages), participation, and homework. Exams (multiple choice, true/ false) were difficult and based on long lectures (3 hours) and textbook chapters.
Class is lengthy for a 3 unit class Tests are not that hard, and predictable as there are homework and mock test. The textbook is not always necessary as most of the content is repeated from the lecture. However, read some of it if it appeared on the homework and mock test. No extra credits due to technical difficulty. ThePaper is lengthy and hard.
I took Prof. Torres for Econ 3 & 5 (Macro and Micro) and both classes were simple online. I managed to get an A in both classes working part time in a regular semester, and working full time in the summer. He makes complex ideas simple enough that elementary kids would likely understand it. Just be ready for his long PowerPoint videos.
Great Teacher! Just make sure you check your assignments daily for he doesn't make a schedule. There has been times I didn't know I had an assignment and therefore I didn't turn it in and he does Not accept late work! I missed my 2nd Exam. He like to do pop up homework or test. lol But otherwise a great class. Would take it again.
No TERM paper, workload is light and easy if you already took microecon. BUT getting an A on ECON 3, 5 is NOT EASY. Mr. Torres is very conservative and has an interesting view of economics. Pros: He's caring, funny, inspiring. Cons: class is a bit disorganized (in-person) but he apologized for his mistakes, students are unenthusiastic.
Not an easy A without putting in some work. Term paper is tough but not a make or break for your grade. Exams have sample exams you can study before the due date. Homework assignments are not hard and are similar to questions on exams. One homework assignment requires critical thinking and effort. Took Econ 3 & 5 with him and don't regret it.
Professor Torres was overall a good teacher. The homework is really easy, some make you think more than others. His quizzes were from what I remember manageable but you have to study. The term paper is easier than made out to seem, just follow the rules and you'll be good. I did mine in a day (keep in mind it took me close to 10 hours) and got an A
y'all,,,,,, YMMV of course but I thought this class was fine. I took this class during the summer so the pace was *stressful*, but that's to be expected. this professor is great & knows his stuff, and his lengthy powerpoints were super helpful. lots of useful/practical info. also, his tests are *HARD*, so study if you want to get a good grade lol
Its a lot of reading but its not so bad where it doesnt leave room to work on my other classes. Hes pretty fair with the workload. My laptop broke the week that I needed to study and take Exam 2. I emailed the professor and he was understanding and unlocked the test for me. By far the most reasonable professor.
Professor Torres is a great professor! Homework and tests are easy and quite simple as long as you read the textbook and modules. Case brief due at the end of the semester is also easy, just start in advance.
Definitely need to put some time into this class. Funny guy, however condescending sometimes. I wouldn't retake it as you are graded by a few things. If you have a passion for econ, this professor is right for you.
The course was pretty good. I've taken prof Torres before and he's a good teacher, lectures are long but not boring. He makes the class interesting, the lectures are really long and so are the power points. Really tough exams so be prepared to s5tuidy. The class average for our 1st exam was a D but he curved it lol.
Very clear about what is expected! A LOT of lectures, all pre-recorded and available to watch (over and over). Tough Final Essay! Great Experience! Would have liked (any) individualized feedback on final project.
Professor Torres had weekly homework assignments/quizzes. There are several extra credit opportunities if you properly look at the questions. Great professor, highly recommended if you are looking for no stress!
Awesome professor & easy class. Every week, there's a small quiz. Gives you the questions that's on the quizzes & recommends you to find answers before taking actual quiz. Provides good study guides for tests. Gives lots of free answers on quizzes & tests. There's one research paper. Gave us 10 extra points on a test that we did not do so well on.
This was taken during summer -long lectures but entertaining and interesting -throws in a funny question here and there for homework - a test every week -midterm will be the first half of the chapters you went over & same with the final for the other half Overall one of the best professors. Not all are good teaching online.
pricey textbook. I thought I was gonna fail this class but the Professor is very generous with his grading. i borrowed the webs technology here and there yk. we didn't have a written essay, however just one easy one for the homework. i took the online course. kinda wish i attended in person for some experience. hes prutty cool so dont scared.
This class is great because you actually apply it to real life. He gives lots of opportunities of extra credit and is a fair grader if you have a hiccup.
The class itself was fine but be prepared to write an 8-15 page term paper towards the end. His class definitely takes some time but he does care about his students. Personally I would take a different professor because I did struggle a little as someone who usually maintains A's.
This professor was the best professor I have ever had my college. He was so chill and calm. they helped us out in our exams. He has three exams and one of them was the final. Gave us a break before the final for 2 weeks. would really recommend.
This was an accelerated class and if I got an A-, you can too! Super funny + chill prof. Two exams total + other assignments. Very good at what he does! Make sure to participate (ur graded on that!) lots of graphs + excel. Gives more than enough time on assignments + tests! Test are long/tough (read the txtbook)! ur in good hands w him!
Professor Torres brings much knowledge and humor to economics. Though there was a lot of lecture material and assigned chapters, I enjoyed the class and the workload was appropriate. I would take professor Torres again.
2 exams + Final (Open for 3 days, given LOTS of practice questions) 1 term paper (given 4 weeks to finish) 8 Hwk assignments, participation is 10% of grade. Prof is sweet, helps you learn, and answers emails fast. Course material, hwk, and tests ARE VERY DIFFICULT. You can succeed, but you HAVE to put in the work. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THIS COURSE!!
I love Mr. Torres. Instead of being a grumpy online teacher who doesn't care about students, he was really caring and outgoing. I was having technical issues and he reached out extremely professionally and thoughtfully to help me clear up work. He's very engaging (Even sharing pictures of events with us) and we need more people like him. Easy work.
Good and caring professor. Only had 2 tests and no paper. I would probably recommend taking it in the summer because it might be easier. But 2 homework assignments each week and lots of lectures.
Easy Course if you do all your work on time. I really enjoyed professor Torres!
Lied on his syllabus about there being no +/- grades. Imagine my surprise at the end of the semester to see "A-" on my transcript.
Professor Torres runs a challenging but rewarding course. The workload is heavy, but unstuck ai proved invaluable for preparing and acing the exams. With dedication, this class is manageable and worth taking.
I originally tried taking him during summer but the course was too fast for me. I took him for fall semester and passed! I'm happy that he's one of the few instructors that actually care and want to see you pass. He's very open with communication which I'm very thankful for. You can tell he loves teaching Econ!
Super easy class and Professor Ed Torres is very considerate and lenient. Everything graded was what we learned. You can choose to learn with the Powerpoints or watch his video lectures. Reasonable time given to do assingments too.
Forced us to pay $70 for a program to do the homework
I absolutely loved Professor Torres's class (Dec. '25). All his materials were so insightful and his approach on every topic is brilliant. He provides so many useful resources as well. He doesn't like to focus on the political side of economics and tells his students how economics truly is (which I love). Definitely take him if you have the option!
Not many assignments, and every point matters. Listen to audiovisual lectures and then read the chapter. Professor Ed breaks everything down, making everything easier. Class consisted of 8 homework assignments, 3 exams @15% each, and a term paper @15%. Get started on the paper early. He also teaches about stock investing, really awesome professor.
The only professor who has made me excited to choose again
His class was pretty boring since he speaks so monotone and sometimes repeats himself, but it's an easy A+ also the textbook is needed if you want to do homework or exams. And he doesn't really care if your late or if you leave early.
