He is one of the best english teachers I have ever had, he makes everything easy to understand. he is really intense, but also passionate about what he does.

By far the best english teacher I have ever had. Only homework he assigns are the essays, which always have an interesting subject. He is very nice, and will always answer any questions. I recommend him to EVERYONE.

Don't buy the books. He will assign the reading of some essays in "The Longman Reader," but you really don't need to read them. You ABSOLUTELY do not need to buy the Little Brown Writers Handbook unless you want it for personal use. Overall, very nice teacher, easy class.

a great teacher and a great person. his lectures can be pretty boring sometimes but he knows his stuff and is very willing to help. if you have a good excuse, he's let others slide on a late papers and turn them in the next class. sign up for him early because his class fills up FAST.

He's a great teacher. Very positive and open minded. He's easy to get along with and helpful to say the least. I loved his class and wish I could take 1102 with him but it's full. I really enjoyed taking English I with Prof. Coursey. He is my favorite teacher so far. He is very personable and he shares a few good stories as well. I took him for F/08 but I still pay him a visit once in a while as he always shares great advice for my speech class as well. Just do the outlines and watch your grammar. You will enjoy this class.

I really enjoyed Prof Coursey's class. His lectures are very involved and cover the context of the literature throughly. He considers this a "writing class." He really only grades on grammatical correctness in this course. If you can't write an essay to grammatical standars (i.e. comma rules) you will succeed is this course.

He is one of the greatest teachers at HCC. Lots of writing, but helped me ALOT! You can check your grades online any time (I don't know what some people are talking about). Overall GREAT professor, STRONGLY recommend him! =)

Awesome teacher! He is so nice and helps you when ever you need it. The tests are online so it makes it easy and you have homework online and some papers and 3 in class essays. He's lenient when it comes to grading and gives tons of opportunities to proof papers before turning them in. I wanted to take him for 1102 but classes are already full :(

Basically an easy class if you do the essays and show up. He's a very nice teacher but his lectures are extremely tedious and can put you to sleep. I definitely recommend his course if you want an easy grade though.

I would definatly recommend him to anyone. A terrific professor. He is passionate about literature there are only 3 in class essays, 4 blog posts, & 3 critical analysis essays the class was enjoyable I now have a better appreciation for literature. The great thing about his class is that there are no quizzes or exams.

The best English teacher you could possibly take. His lectures are extremely informative if you listen. He really helped me learn how to read between the lines in a story and to understand authorâ??s message. No test or quizzes, but with that said I learned more in this class then in any other one Iâ??ve taken. Wish I could take him again!

Never had a more understanding professor than him. Makes things easy to understand and is very polite. Even if you miss a class he won't hound you for it. Just do the papers and use proper grammar.

Professor Coursey is an amazing professor! I loved his teaching style so much when I took ENC 1101 that I took his 1102 class and I loved it. He's a real laid back kind of person but very into what he teaches. He will help you in any way possible if you need it. You will need the textbook! But overall he's a very good teacher! Take him!!

A very helpful and easy teacher. I learned a lot about grammar and writing with him. Any time you go to his office he welcomes and helps you even if its not about the class. I highly recommend taking him.

Truly a great English professor. Time flew by in his class for me (if you're not interested in writing and English then you may think differently) He's laid back and easy going. Really helped me with my grammar structure and understanding of how to write a correct essay. He doesn't require a lot of assignments to be turned in. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Professor Coursey is a great instructor. I missed alot of class due to illness. I passed his class with a C+. I could have made an A but i missed two assignments. Take him and you will not be disappointed. Just do your essays. He critized me for my last essay but i made a B on it.

I took his Hybrid class. He is very good teacher. He likes to help and to teach. My writing improved because of him.

Professor Coursey is very nice and uses the Common Brown Handbook all the time. It is the only textbook you need. I took it during summer and had to write 4 papers total, take quizzes online, and take the midterm and final. He can be a hard grader on papers, but he really helps you improve your writing. My writing drastically improved with him!

Took the hybrid class it was pretty easy. 2 research papers 3 in class writings and a few online posts(super easy). The hardest things were the in class essays. He lets you know ahead of time so do a little brainstorming before class and youre set. He beleives in quality over quantity. NO WORD COUNT! makes the papers less stressful. Take him!

very easy class. 2 research papers (3-5 pages; no actual requirement, though) and 3 in class essays (easy-- you can prepare beforehand). essays are generously graded. don't make middle school grammatical errors and you should get a high A on every essay. assigned readings are not mandatory but "advised" (read: useless). nice guy. fun. take him.

He will talk you to death about the required readings. But overall he is a cool dude. As long as you read atleast two stories from the book you will be fine. He only requires two in-class essays and two out of class essays and a multiple choice midterm that is about 20 questions long. The only way not to pass is not to try.

Mr. Coursey talks a lot on how to write an essay and gives you TONS of examples, which bores me out. However, those hours of talking help me to improve my writing. Whenever he finished checking students' essays he will show couples of essay to the class to point out some of the errors in grammar that students wrote, which really helps me A LOT.

Gives very clear feedback on papers and is not a harsh grader at all. Just BEWARE that he WILL put your papers up on the elmo to the class and will have a group discussion on it. Easy class. He only grades paper on grammar. Could care less what you actually wrote down. All the quizzes I retread the sparknotes online instead of reading the stories. I got an A, not sure how you couldn't.

Good teacher, not super exciting class, but he 's very clear about what he wants. Has opinions, religious(not too conservative, but he mentions his faith), has feminist leanings(which is great, he doesn't seem to have gender bias), thinks everyone should be as excited about literature as he is. Keep these in mind when writing papers, you'll do fine

Professor Coursey is a great teacher of the English language. He is very intelligent and is always willing to help. He is very approachable and open to questions. For Eng1101 you have to do a lot of homework on Mywriting lab, but it is a good way to learn the material. It was not difficult at all! He does not assign much work, so do your lab.

Old guy but very nice. Loves his students that come to class. Only two essays, first is 15 percent and the second is 30 percent. The rest comes from attendance, MyWrittingLab, and in class writing. Lecture will be long and boring. Would take again.

Course is a wonderful teacher. He really makes you think about the material. He is there if you need him and is very quick to respond to emails and such. It's not an easy class but you learn a lot. I would recommend to everyone.

I REALLY like him as an English teacher. He gives amazing poems/literature work to read. I wish I would have had him throughout high school.

He has to be my favorite English teacher in my life. He pick's interesting poems for class and on top of that the knowledge he has on material is amazing. If you read the poems and take his weekly online quiz ( which are open book) their should be no reason not to pass. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM FOR ANY CLASS.

Best decision ever to take Professor Coursey. He is always willing to help out with anything you struggle with understanding. The out of class essays, he assigns, can be on any topic you want. He assigns MyWritingLab topics that have been very beneficial for me in understanding the proper spelling mechanics. Definitely take him for 1101!

He is a good teacher, but what he teaches sometimes confuses me. His tests at some point were easy, but I was lost most of the time. He does help you out if you need it.

Coursey cares more about following the literary rules when it comes to writing papers than he does about the actual content. As long as it's not nonsense, he'll accept it. He gives time in class and plenty of time for you to revise. He can be a bit condescending at times. He gave small quizzes but the bulk his grades come from writing papers.

Professor Coursey is super nice, funny and cares about his students. I took his English class over summer. Not as much work as I thought but I still had a few essays to write and My Writing Lab to complete. You will get out of class early. I don't remember staying for the full three hours. I would definitely take again and recommend his class.

Prof. Coursey is great. For 1102, there are only 2 papers and 5 tests online. He gives great feedback on papers and plenty of opportunities to fix mistakes before submitting papers.

Professor Couse is a very humble passionate man. He is patient and easy to talk too. I took his class during the summer, I thought I was failing but passed with an A. He talks alot and is open to your opinions so look forward to conversations during lectures on current and world issues. He responds to emails promptly, great prof.

I took Prof. Coursey's online ENC 1102 course and I must say, he is one of the best professors I've ever had. I was going through a lot in my personal life and he made it a point to help me to make sure I passed with an A. He is very kind, I would recommend him to everyone!

This guy is great. I took him for a four week IDS class on Propaganda and Persuasion. He is very knowledgeable and wants his students to learn. He has you do a ridiculously easy essay and an equally easy group project. He is soft spoken and never raises his voice. He is a kind grandfatherly figure and you won't regret taking a class with him.

Absolutely the best ENC professor at HCC. Come to class... participate... and follow instructions and you will pass. He is a tough grader but gives you what you need for next paper. I took off several years from college and came back... I took ENC 1101 before MLA format and still got an A in the class.

Took this class online, I did not mind the essay prompts we were given so it made writing papers easy. VERY clear feedback on rough drafts and tests are incredibly easy and were very obvious questions based directly on assigned reading material. Just do the work he assigns and you'll pass. Also very nice and responds to emails thoroughly and quick

Class is always interesting, he is very helpful and caring.

Had SLS with professor Coursey this past spring semester. If it wasnt a required class I probably would have passed on taking it, however it was a class I looked forward to. Majority of the time because of the open discussions on current events. Attendance is mandatory but he is lenient if you miss. Worth noting he gives extra credit for coming.

Coursey cares about his students' success, and is very prompt with email responses. He provides excellent feedback and tries to help you feel more comfortable and confident with writing, which I thought was very helpful since I stress very hard over writing papers. His online course was easy to follow and I enjoyed the assigned readings! 10/10

Professor Coursey is a good teacher, i took his hybrid class and i thoroughly enjoyed it. Although his class time is once a week, he talks about a-lot of different literatures every-time. Bearable but can be boring. His assignments are easy, as long as you do the work and show-up often enough you'd get an easy A.

100% recommend taking him for English Comp 2 HYBRID. His lectures are dry, but he has a true passion for history. Only requires 2 major essays with no word limit. Follows his syllabus. Almost every online assignment has 2 attempts and shows you the correct answer. Very easy to maintain a high average.

Very good prof. Easy A if you know your way around the typical essay. Tests are very easy also. The book isn't used a ton. He has you write commentaries on essays (that are usually political) every 2 weeks or so. Other than that, he's a very good prof who is lenient with attendance and responds quickly to emails. Very helpful

Great prof. ENC1102 Online. EASY A. Highly recommend. One or two assignments every 3-4 weeks. Only 2 essays, both of which he provides GREAT feedback&you can get an A on them. READ THE SYLLABUS. Made mistake of not doing so. ALL essay/discussions must be from the txtbook (easy, but I ignored) unless he approves them (v easy). Highly recommend!

I loved this professor so much. He was extremely helpful and gave amazing feedback. There was 4 discussion posts (I used these as part of my essays), 2 essays, 6 quizzes (you had 2 attempts and it gives you all the answers after the first try), and 4 tests. He responds to emails quickly, sends weekly updates, and will always help when you need it.

Real easy class, 8/10 The whole semester you get 2 big essays, 5ish discussion boards, and a quiz each week. Quizzes are very easy, shows you correct answers along w/ 2 tries. The only downside is that his explanations for his essays are not very clear, thankfully he is very good at responding to emails. Gives LOTS of feedback for written work.

Really good professor, you can set up a zoom meeting with him for good feedback, was the best professor I ever had. His class is very flexible which is awesome because I have a Job. Two major essays.

Do the work; it isn't hard. 2 Essays, 3 discussions, and quizzes from the book - some answers are on Quizlet/Subjecto. You get 2 tries so you get the answers from the 1st attempt. He gives great feedback. No attitude, he sounds serious, but he actually enjoys talking and helping. The anthology is literature to go; the kindle version is cheaper.

My first time doing this but hands down best professor for English at hcc. Im an international student and with English not being my first language its not the easiest subject for me. Easy quizzes, and discussions posts. 2 major essays. Do the work and its an easy A. Im telling you take this Professor if you can!

Could not recommend this course more! It's heavy on writing but an easy A. There are 4 basic grammer tests, 3 or 4 commentary papers, and a final essay.

Gives good feedback on writings. Focus on your punctuation. Clear communication and responds fast. I liked a lot. Interesting reading sections.

This course was honestly a lot easier than I thought it would be. It's not very work-heavy which helps me be able to focus on my other classes as well. He gives great, thorough feedback on your essays as well.

Good professor. Assigned 4 or 5 papers that were based on current events (he gives you a group of news stories to choose from). There were 4 open book quizzes as well. Fair grader. I would recommend taking him for Freshman Comp I or II.

I took Prof. Coursey for ENC1101 as a hybrid course and then ENC1102 as an online one because I felt a connection to him. He is incredibly intelligent and you can tell he loves the English language. This was never a great subject for me but he made me feel confident. I would take him again if I could.
