WORST TEACHER EVER! I did a better job teaching myself in this class from the book. Do not take him unless you desperate as a beaver with it's tail stuck in a dam. Seriously, you will regret it!
Horrible teacher I ever had in my college life... Don't take his class... seriously.. If you took his class, you would know what I am talking about... He doesn't teach anything...
This is a philosophy style class taught by a man who contains so much info it is har d for him to realize we are not all as versed in the classics of thought quite like him, but as far as learning and expanding your veiw of the world you couldn't ask for more. Ed is also an amazing person I just dare you to tell him he can't do something, take his class you'll see what I mean
This guy sucks so bad, he knows so much about so many things, I'll give him that but he loves to make ppl feel like idiots, he will put you through so much crap and stress, he forgets the art about "INTRO" thinks students are PHDs or something, do not take this class you will regret it.
This is the WORST teacher I have ever had. He does not know how to teach at all. He does not explain anything and quizzes you on things he does not teach you. NEVER under ANY circumstances take his classes... you will be sorry. Others told me not to take him, but I had no choice because of my schedule.... BAD CHOICE!!! Don't do it!
He is definitely a hard teacher. I learned a lot though. He challenges you to think and actually try to learn on your own. Some people may not like that but I enjoyed it. If you do take his class be prepared to do a lot of work!
I get the impression this guy doesn't really like teaching. He wants you to talk and discuss opinions in class but when he doesn't agree with you, he just yells. And then he goes and calls Jesus a liar but won't listen to our arguments. He is stubborn and self-centered. The class isn't too difficult though if you go every day and take serious notes
wow you people were right i dropped his class after the second day. I took the class because it was the only one availible. NOT WORTH IT! the guys isnt clear on anything =( avoid him. take amar sahay instead
I have learned so much from his class. He helps you think outside the box. Very entertaining and intense discussions i loved it.
You might as well not even show up for class. You're lucky if he bothers to explain a concept, most of the time he's just writing definitions on the board and laughing at people who ask questions. The fact is buddy - YOU'RE THE TEACHER!!! I can read definitions out of the boot, I'd rather have a teacher who helps with calculus concepts
A challenging and thought provoking professor. My conversations with him have always been enlightening. Not a professor for those who do not want thier ideas challenged or who expect an easy "A"
This guy is extremely smart. I have learned a ton in this class by just listening to his lectures. His class becomes more like a history class in many ways. As others stated, he does make you think outside of the box and gives you a lot of great insights about the current world. He does believe all of his opinions are true, seems to bashe religion.
Awesome teacher just to say the least. He has a different teaching method then most are used to, but I really enjoyed his class. He covers the amazing thinkers of old, and contrasts it with current events and what is happening today. If you are looking for a very good supplement to your college education take this course.
I took Calculus from Ed in the summer and he moved extremely fast the first few weeks that I was considering dropping the class. However, after that he slowed it down and taught the class in a way that everyone learned. I somehow managed an A! He's a smart guy, and a pretty good teacher. I would recommend him if you are already good at math.
By far the worst teacher I have ever had. He does not explain anything really, just gives you a formula out of thin air without the how and why, then drops the last hour of class. After all that, you will be tested on stuff that wasn't discussed at all, and one question per multi-choice test has no correct answer. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS!!!
WORST EVER! Disorganized:5-25 min late every time, rants off topic Unprofessional: Uses all caps frequently to yell in emails. Takes frustration with non-compliant students out on others. Don't expect him to reply in a timely manner. He expects respect but is slow to return it. Snide and sarcastic if you aren't fast in responding or agree with him
not organized said he was going to tutor before final test but never answered calls our emails offered to tutor after class was over. Doesn't answer questions well
Professor Engh is an excellent teacher for this subject. He is very direct and expects the student to make the effort, which is how the business world actually works! You must think critically to understand the point of his lectures, again, something valuable in the 'real world'.
Avoid him at all costs. He is by far the worst teacher I've had. Never returns emails, very unorganized, and goes off on random tangents off topic. Hard to follow at times.
Decent class. The material was pretty interesting and he was good at explaining things. The tests were a bit hard to predict and the questions were not all that clear. There is a moderate amount of homework, but you can fake through it without too much effort.
This teacher is terrible. He believes that the computer makes things too easy for us, despite us all needing to know things that way. He never used the book and tries to teach out of his own formulas that you are supposed to understand without him explaining it by writing scribbles on paper for an overhead. A very slow speaker with a monotone voice
He challenges students to prepare for the real world. He has a lot of experience.
Excellent instructor who expects excellence from his students. Course was not difficult to understand, but the amount of homework may seem overwhelming at first. He really tries to bring out the best in his students, many cannot keep up. If you are looking for a challenge that will help you prepare for a 4 year institution this is the guy.
He's a very arrogant professor who expects intro students to have the knowledge and skills of doctorate students. He isn't entirely helpful yet overwhelmes you with information. Yes, that is how the real world works, but we are still college students, and need to be taught still. There is ALOT of work, and the class is paced quickly, glad its done.
Don't bother showing up on time, he is always late.
This is not a business class about fiscal policy or world economics. This is a business philosophy class: business lessons from Plato, Aristotle, etc. ..Professor is unclear in his expectations. He doesn't follow his syllabus. I would agree with others that he is very degrading of your knowledge. Lots of homework. Seek other teachers if possible.
very smart guy, lots of homework but you can fake your way through it. tests are all that matter
He's quite an arrogant man, if no one answers his first response is a scoff. Essays are shockingly open ended and gives no assistance on the topic you choose, yet grades it like your doctoral thesis. He emphasizes mechanics more than content in papers yet offers no real help before its due. You can learn a lot, you just have to know a lot first.
I took this course on line. It was a hard course and the teacher expected a lot out of you. His testes were difficult. You can learn alot from this guy if you listen to him.
Very interesting class. I took it online, but it would of been a lot easier to take in class. There is a lot of busy work but he gives a home work syllabus so you know what to expect. He may come off rude if you are easily offended, but he is an awesome professor.
Crazy... No Fun
He sucks! He is rude and his tests are a joke!! STAY AWAY!! Took the class online.
Stay away fo him, rude, a lot of homework ...
I wish I would have looked at this site before I signed up for this class. Avoid! Warning!
If your taking online classes because of busy schedule, stay away. Homework: read 3 chapters + assingments a week- if not submit by midnight on mon/wed/fri they aren't accepted. He compiled his own text that you can only purchase @ school store for around $80. Tests aren't about assingments. He is unhelpful, rude, and egotistical.
Prof. Engh's class is for people who are capable of thinking. If you want to manage a Walmart, well you're probably not going to college... But anyways, his class is really interesting and always had great discussions.
Great Professor, maybe the best I have ever had. He is extremely helpful, professional, hilarious, clear in his expectations, well read, and informative. Take his classes whatever you are majoring in!
I survived his class. He is not a good teacher. He is always late, he is never organized or prepared. He comes into class and asks what we talked about last time then rambles on about whatever. He is terrible at returning emails. It took complaining to the department chair to get Ed to return my emails, although it was too late. AVOID HIS CLASS!!!!
This is a hard class, but it pays of with how much you will learn. If you can think and compreheand difficult reading you will do well in this class. If you want to see if you can survive college, this is the class to take. so glad this was my first class coming back to college, showed me why I did. If you want to stumble through life stay away.
The first half of the class seemed very challening, but one I got into a groove, it wasn't so bad. His first test was very difficult, but the last two weren't so bad. Just give him exactly what he asks for and you won't have problems. Not my favorite teacher/class, but I'd probably take it again if I had to.
I enjoyed this class immensely. Some of the complaints on this page have legitimacy, but I have to disagree with most. It's a tougher than average class because the teacher is asking for more participation and effort. In the end, he is self-righteous but also very willing to explain the curriculum and what you learn in the end is worth everything.
Awesome teacher, I learned a lot in this class. Don't expect an easy A though, lots of reading and homework. Tests are fairly easy though.
This teacher is confusing, rude and asks for way too much work. It is all or nothing with him so good luck to those of you that try and are not perfect.
Worst teacher ever. Aweful at getting back in a timely manner to emails. Very, very rude. I was taking his online course and had to drop out due to his lack or response and his mean attitude. Do NOT take his class.
VERY time consuming class, lots of reading and assignments but overall if you do the work you will do fine.
smart guy, good teacher homework is pretty easy if you read the book good class discussions
His online class does not use canvas or anything just email. It is a ton of unrelated reading. the very worst class I have ever taken form slcc
Im not going to lie I took this class because I was planning to major in Business, however after taking the class I changed my mind. This class was tough I spent too much time reading and doing homework but It was worth it in the end. The final test was easy just make sure you do what he says and participate on his lectures and you'll do fine.
He makes it clear that he doesn't care about you, your grade, or your opinion. Just agree with everything he says and you'll get an A.
This was my first business class at slcc. It was interesting and the homework load was not overwhelming. There are a lot of notes but the class kept me interested and thinking. I would recommend this class to anyone interested in business.
Ranks participation extremely high, blindsided me with how few points I received so make sure that you comment multiple times each class. Would not recommend his class.
I hated this class. The lectures didn't seem to relate to the homework or tests at all. The homework wasn't hard, but it was a lot of busy work (10 vocab words, 6 descriptive questions, and between 6-20 essay questions due twice a week.) I am also fairly certain that Prof Engh didn't look at completed homework. I wouldn't recommend this class.
He was extremely helpful and very responsive online. There were assignments twice a week for the online class and three tests, which if you read the book will pass. He inspired me to read more quality literature and encouraged me because he saw I really tried. Totally recommend taking him.
This guy may be knowledgeable about business but he CANNOT teach. He's rude, confusing, he lets his book teach for him, he changes due dates around from a few days to a few hours. The text is a story book. This course is VERY demanding of time. I've never worked so hard in my life to keep afloat in a class. Beware.
great prefessor
incredibly easy the tests questions were in the book but the class was pointless we spent the entire time talking about things that didn't matter at all to any tests or homework He requires you to be on time yet lets you 5 minutes late I almost didn't get an A due to participation points although i went everytime and got 100% on tests and homework
prepare to read and discuss in class
Professor Engh has a true passion for education. He is a teacher who truly cares about his students making certain everyone has a full understanding of the readings. There are a lot of assignments but they are based on how you translate the material. He has the intellect to teach critical thinking. He is open to students suggestions. Just ask him.
Really intelligent. Takes thinking to a new level. Used to work for NASA. Would take class again, or even another class he offered to teach. very insightful to how the world works.
Great teacher. If you need help just email him and he will get back to very quickly. Wants you to succeed. Seems hard at first, but once you get to know him and the course, it's easy; as long as you do the homework. The homework is answers that you interpret from the text, as long as you get the basic concepts you will do fine
You'll spend most of your time on this class. There is lots of homework all the time. But if you do the homework, you will pass the class. Tests are pretty easy as long as you study.
Worst class I have ever taken! You read from his personal book about all of his personal beliefs and write a multiple page response each day.... AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
He is awful, plain and simple. If you want to learn anything other than about him and how he used to build rockets, (we get it dude, you think you're cool) take another class. He is extremely rude in his feedback as well. Horrible teacher. He should have stuck to building rockets.
Professor Engh is a great teacher and person. If you are immature and irresponsible you might not like his methods and will less likely do well. The required assignments are not few, but this is a college coarse. The real world will not be much more lenient. I took away more from his Bus1050 class than I have in any other by a long shot.
You read in this class from a book written by Prof. Engh and do assignments for each section. He is extremely rude and condescending in his comments if he doesn't agree with your point of view. He will give you the option to redo the assignment so it aligns with his opinion. Much of the course is geared to have you think what he thinks or else!
Discussion based class each time. A lot of reading out of his book. Wasn't to hard of a class as long as you do the homework.
Professor Engh was very helpful in learning what is expected from College, was he tough? Yes. But I appreciated the fact that he is honest with expectations.
A ton of homework with so many rules about what to use / not to use that it takes hours, and I mean that very literally, hours each week. I spent more time on homework for this class than I have for any other class in 2 years of classes at SLCC.
Engh is tough, but I felt like he was fair. I didn't find his comments to be condescending. More like... encouraging to make you think harder. There is a lot of reading, and homework. That's expected though when you're taking a class online. I didn't enjoy the class discussion assignments where you had to critique other students though.
Mr Engh's classes are tough, but I can appreciate a teacher where the assignments and feedback help me be a better student for future classes. I like that he throws in some humor a long the way too. If you don't have tough skin you won't be able to handle his style of feedback though.
There were 3 tests in the course, and 2/3 were reading comprehension, which is unline tests you're used to where you're tested on facts you've learned. Very straight forward online class that's easy to maintain a schedule and get a good grade.
Lots of busy work, some of which is helpful but mostly seems pointless. Asks for you to list your own vocab definitions for every chapter even if there is nothing needing to be defined (the chapter is a letter or a story etc). Tests are hard to pass even if you have open book and use the internet.
I really enjoyed this professor, he is like a younger Stephen Hawking, he wrote / compiled the textbook so he knows the material inside and out. He loves to get students' attention and will ask questions over and over again in order to understand different points of view. He really enjoys to hear from his students, can seem condescending but isn't
Probably one of the smartest and wisest professors out there. You learn a lot in Prof. Engh's class, it's kind of like a mixture of a philosophy, history and a critical thinking class. Homework can be long somedays but easy for the most part, show up and do what's asked of you and you should get an A no problem.
There are a ton of reading assignments. Overall I learned a lot from each paper I read. He does not require a text book which is very nice. The tests are not too bad if you have read the material for your homework. There is usually an assignment due every other day. When I had questions he was very helpful and emailed me right back.
Professor seems to be pretty one sided with the assignments. Just try to write your papers the way you think he would write it.
Worst teacher ever. Very condescending, especially to religious views. He tries to pass his opinions as fact, even though he is often way off the mark. If you are a socialist and an atheist you will like him fine, if not avoid at all cost. He expects you to write answers following criteria he ignores himself. Homework is tedious and redundant.
I will start by admitting that I slipped a couple of times with my homework submissions, but I must say, he is one of the most unforgiving instructors I have ever worked with. He dumps all of these random units on us, and wants us to each individually make sense of it, but if you do not answer in his perfect way you get docked. so frustrating!!
Awful. Worst teacher i've ever had. Haven't learned one thing, all i've done is read a bunch of things that sound like they were written over 100 years ago, and answered pointless questions. Here's one of his questions for ya, directly off of one of his assignments - "if god is purely figurative, how does that effect business?" What. Just DON'T.
If you plan on taking this class, also plan on mixing yourself up a nice bleach martini and crying yourself to sleep. This is the worst class I have ever had the displeasure of taking. You will learn a whole lot about philosophy, but not one thing about business. Not ONE. You will read text written 500+ years ago, & confusing assignments take hours
Edward Engh designed the BUS-1050 course, which means the result of which is an absolutely ridiculous course. He tries to trick you in so many ways rather than to actually just help you learn the material. If you're going to take this class at SLCC, take it with JEFFREY BIRD. He is amazing!!
A lot of reading and answering questions. If you keep up on the assignments, which are reading a essay and answering questions, its a fairly easy class. He gives you credit on the assignments as long as it appears you really tried even if the answers are wrong. However, if you don't do the assignments then you just miss out.
The class is designed with text written by Engh himself and ancient texts to teach you how to think critically. The text make you question religion, politics, moral values, and science to practice thinking critically. Two assignments due a week with class discussion. If you don't understand the purpose of the class; you'll be frustrated whole time.
This class is based around inspiring you to think critically about the role of business in our world, and the different socioeconomic systems which have existed throughout history. If you don't appreciate philosophical discussion, and having your beliefs challenged then this course might not be ideal for you.
Great class! The amount of reading was annoying at first but it was actually all interesting and relevant to a lot of a today's issues. Learned a lot and would definitely take another course from him, if I could.
This class is tough, but well worth it. There is a lot of reading, be prepared to do work. Professor gives great feedback, tests are online. Lots to learn and interesting subjects. Do not take this class if you are not mature enough to handle it! Overall great class.
It's a 3c/h college course, which translates to 9 hours of reading/homework per week if you want an A - no surprise. No textbook, all readings provided, and GREAT feedback given on discussions/assignments. Two reading assignments and discussions per week. Easy if you do the reading! My critical thinking skills improved dramatically. I loved it!
I really enjoyed the course this semester, it really give notice to critical thinking, and how to apply critical thinking in my everyday life. I would love to take a similar course.
Fantastic teacher, he pushes his students to think critically but you have to show up for class. Participation is 10% of your final grade but all you have to do is show up and do the readings (somewhat lengthy). Tests are easy as well. Overall a fantastic teacher!
So much homework that has absolutely nothing to do with the course. Trust me don't take this class with this professor
This is a critical thinking class and the reading is primarily philosophy type readings. They can be hard, but are interesting and make you think since that is the intention. I passed the final with an A without studying. It's just about having reading comprehension and class participation.
It felt like you had to (FIT IN) or belong in a way to get a good grade.. Then... If you don't answer questions exactly the WAY he likes it.. GOOD NIGHT....
He is good
If you attend every class, participate often and complete all the homework you won't have a problem passing. I thought the class discussions were interesting and the professor was knowledgeable and fair.
Professor Engh gives you interesting papers to read. You will learn a lot in his class if you are willing to be open minded. Critical thinking skills are a must.
Professor Engh is one of a kind! Truly an amazing professor who pushes students to do their best work. Had a great experience in this class.
If you disagree with him when it comes to politics or religion, he will fail you. Just agree with him, don't challenge his opinion and you'll pass the class. Make sure you're in class everyday. He is not a tough grader, but do all of the homework. He is be opinionated about everything. I would take a class from him again, but he is not my fav.
Professor Engh comes across as a little abrasive at the start. He has a strict policy on the type of work he expects from his students as well as when he expects work to be submitted. But you'll quickly learn that he offers the best feedback (well thought out) and that he is incredibly passionate about educating. He's the best professor I've had.
Professor Engh is passionate about education. My biggest issue with him is his bias against religion, which will definitely hurt your grade if you disagree with him on that. Besides that though he is a great teacher who gives solid feedback and genuinely wants you to learn. There is a lot of reading and you really have to pay attention.
His tests were often multiple choice with the majority of the questions being ridiculous answers that made me laugh. He stuck with me even though I didn't participate in the first few lessons. I learned a lot of good studying practices from him that will help me for the rest of my life.
He voices his opinion far too much! He does not value yours, if you disagree with him, he will literally dock your grade. Don't try to have a original thought, because he will only make you feel dumb. There is a ton of reading, and it us useful. Just try to take this class from another teacher. He is not the best and I know there are better ones.
Answers questions genuinely and helps to steer you in the right direction when you need help. Despite how other's make him sound, he's actually a really nice guy. That said, I will say how interesting it is that your opinion is only right if it matches his. Seems like critical thinking is only okay if you come up with the answer he agrees with.
This class is not about business rather Engh's reasons why religion is bad and God is not real. I'm atheist myself, and over 15 years in an office environment, and this curriculum is useless for the true purpose it's intended for. Do not take it from him or anybody that uses his curriculum (my situation) if you expect to learn about business.
There is a fair amount of reading, but the homework can be interesting. You will be asked to submit two homework assignments and two discussions a week. It's not hard if you stay on top of it. The teacher is somewhat snotty, so be prepared for that prevailing attitude some professors love to inflict on their students. Felt like a philosophy class.
When I first heard there was no textbook for the class, I was excited. Usually that means the prof cares. But after reading the materials, I would have rather bought a book. The vocab definitions are wrong (even according to wikipedia) and full of flaws. He quotes himself in the readings, instead of credible authors, and states his views as facts.
The syllabus is straight forward and really well organized. If you don't have a problem reading you should enjoy the them. Give him a chance, he's good.
I found his online class to be very well organized, but as for a professor, he is highly critical, and very condescending with feedback not to mention the hours of reading involved with this class. I would not recommend this professor.
Attendance and participation matter. There are readings every week with questions to make sure you understood the point but they are interesting and come from sources ranging from religious texts to ancient philosophers to modern day businesspeople. Go to class, participate, do the readings and assignments on time. Labor intensive but not a hard A.
To me this class felt more like a history class. I wish it more about things relevant and useful.. LOTS of readings (about 3-4 per week). Expects you to put in 24+ hours of time into school work for him (literally, its in the first orientation quiz). Very critical on assignments, almost like if you do not answer it the way he would it is wrong.
I took this class online over Summer semester and it was challenging. There was a ton of reading most of which was philosophical and not easy to understand. All of the homework consists of 10-17 q's that require you to interpret the readings with 3-5 sentences. Reading is not optional, and they are boring, more history than actual business.
This class has alot of reading, to be expected of a business history course. Engh left great feedback and would respond to emails withing a day or two. The assignments will take alot of work, but they are interesting and fun. The course is not very difficult, but it is very time consuming. Try to stay ahead on the work, as each week is different
It was difficult to take this course as it required a lot of homework. I wouldn't judge this course from the beginning because as we progressed into what message was being conveyed, it was actually a course where I learned a lot. Give it a chance and listen to his feedback and you will excel.
Very knowledgeable professor which is his best and worst trait. Readings are very heavy and his vocabulary usage makes them almost unreadable, almost like he is trying to show off his intellectual power over his students. Uses his own work as sources for his lectures which is pretty much all the class is, listening to his lectures.
Unnecessarily a tough grader. Very picky.
Horrible professor who doesnt grade what you submitted. If you miss one question from the whole assignment its an automatic zero. Apparently it was in the fine lines that he didnt even make clear. Most professors grade what you have. Also grades poorly even if you did the assignment genuinely but turned it in a few minutes before it was due.
Professor Engh has been my favorite professor Ive ever had in my college career. He is so willing to go above and beyond to help his students and worked with me when I had surgery. He grades fairly, always responded quickly and gave extensive and thoughtful responses when I was confused on a subject or reading. 10/10 recommend!
DO NOT TAKE THIS AWFUL CLASS. HE'S A SNARKY RUDE HUMAN. Doesn't know how to give feedback unless its in a way to degrade you. He also makes you feel less of college student because ''you should have known this."
Professor Engh's BUS 1050 online course was tough, but more than worth it. I learned everything I ever wanted to learn about the foundations of Business. You'll be busy, an hour or two a day to go over the readings. But, Professor Engh is very responsive and is extremely helpful with questions, and advice for assignments, discussions, even papers!
Professor Engh made this class unnecessarily hard, didnt grade fair, and made it hard for us to contact him. The homework assignments were also made super complicated for no reason and a lot of the things I learned in this class were useless in me trying to get a business degree. 95 percent of what the class was didnt apply to business at all.
Engh was quite the professor. Get ready to do a lot of reading the first few weeks of the course but he then starts to help heavily with the homework. So that takes the weight off. The homework every week is lengthy but you learn a lot from it. He is very wise and that wisdom rubs off on you after the course. You have to work for your grade.
Edward Engh is the most condescending and pretentious professor you will ever have. The modules are set up with multiple readings that will not ever be relevant in the business world. His instructions are just him rambling, and the final essay is nearly impossible to pass unless you agree with his opinion. 0/10 wouldnt recommend to my worst enemy.
Worsted teacher you will ever have. Final essay will never get above a 80% and is 15% of your grade. He will never help you, unless you are in the hospital and you HAVE to have physical proof. class is him rambling. His class is a joke, will never use what he taught in the business world. I can say pages worth of things about him. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Professor Engh is very abrasive. For the most part if you follow the instructions and do the readings you will get a good grade. I really enjoyed the class and learned a lot. However, he failed several people in the class on a major assignment (worth 13% of final grade) because we didn't follow the instructions even though we did. It was weird.
This professor taught me that I should no longer attend college. He also helped me with my writing and how to protect my work from being stolen. I have a disability and he helped me get some of the help that I needed.
Honestly, if I had the chance to drop this class, I would. This teacher is rude and unprofessional. Makes people give criticism to their classmates, and if its not aggressive enough, he gives you half credit and says its a waste of his time to read. He keeps sending emails saying we don't understand- because he's a terrible teacher.
He is a pretty tough teacher and definitely expects a lot out of you. If you get a poor grade it's because you weren't able to meet the high expectations he had. I learned a lot in this class and really enjoyed it. I wouldn't recommend it to someone who just wants an easy A. However, if you're into thoughtful discussions, he'd be a good choice.
I really appreciated the concepts that Professor Engh was trying to impart however, the online medium is not conducive to those concepts. Discussions come across as combative, and his feedback (while accurate) often seems belittling. This gives the impression that Professor Engh would rather teach a lesson than teach the material.
Rambles a lot about things that don't matter in business. Cares more about showing intelligence over the students than actually teaching them. Gives bad grades because you didn't exactly get what he got out of his own reading. Doesn't understand the concept of students having other classes/jobs other than his and wants you to spend 24+ hours a week
WORST CLASS EVER! I took INTRO to business. He doesn't accept ANY LATE WORK, no extensions, no extra credit, no chance to redo assignments, NOTHING Every week u have at least 5 hrs of hw =6 assignments, 1 of those taking 2hrs with 120questions. He's not flexible or understanding & told me that in his 20yrs of teaching he has never bumped up a grade
so much busy work. He sais he expects 12 hours of work put into this class a week. He grades very strictly, has hard deadlines, and isn't very understanding. So much reading every week.
Professor Edward Engh was my favorite professor this semester. Yes, there is a lot of ready and homework but it is doable. He helped me a lot when needed and his class was so educational. He made me get out of my comfort zone and definitely made me think. If you're looking for an easy A this class is not for you.
I took BUS 1050 online and it was a great experience. there may have been a lot of reading but the content level was not too difficult so it balanced out. The grading feedback was also some of the best I have ever seen from a professor and it was very helpful for not only this course but other courses as well.
Engh is awesome. Yes, there is a lot of reading. Yes, he is a tough grader. While these are true, he will never just give you a 0, or bad grade without explaining why and how to improve. I would not recommend this class for online students, especially in the summer semester, its then an accelerated course on top of a shortened semester. Nice guy!
All this guy talks about is himself in every reading, and the instructions on how to give feedback is extremely unclear. I have a almost 4.0 and can't understand what this guy wants from my discussion, each week is something different and always would give an excuse such as 'don't apologize for being critical to your peers, etc.'
Professor Ed Engh, left half of his class outside to sit on the floor for being a minute late. He is also very very rude when it comes to help, and picks and chooses who he likes out of the class. If you hate speaking out load to the class this is not the class for you.
Not very helpful with course material, very strict with due dates and attendance, multiple mistakes with assignment due dates / deadlines, in-class lectures seemed unprepared and mainly consisted of rambling and reading course material off textbook.
rude and disrespectful. a few seconds late, stay outside the door, which may cause you to miss a quiz—a significant part of your overall grade. heavy workload, no assistance. critiques every single word you write in your assignments. not inspiring; his rude behavior drains your energy and motivation. lacks the ability to help and motivate
