he was a very good teacher, one of the best at Valley. verrrrrrrrry good. he seemed to do a lot for the community as well. i'm chicana and i didn't really know much about my history, but he made it interesting. the only thing to watch out for is little random quizzes. pay attention!

He was cool people. He actually cared about what he talked about. I hated writing those damn papers for the midterm and final. Other than that it was all good. I always love a teacher that cusses in class!

he is the best professor evr to exist. He does not bs you and will give it to you straight. He is also a caring person who has been where alot of us have and is not afraid to mingle with students and guide you through the right path

mr gomez is a very excellent professor who is understandable for missing class or behind in projects...he gives out 1 essay 6 page long i never knew how to do...he explain history more interesting the other prof and he gives an obstract oral prensentation and one final which is easy i recommended takin him he is soo funnie

Holy sh!t. Ed Gomez is absolutely incredible. He's very passionate about his work. Every lecture is an experience. I've never seen anyone teach the material with the kind of sincerity this man does. He doesn't grade that hard, either. You just have a midterm, a final, and a 5 minute oral presentation. I recommend taking him highly.

Mr.Gomez is a great teacher. Easy grading. For passing his class you need to write midterm 5-7 pages. He gives 2 weeks to do that. Oral presentation for 5 min. and 2 pages about your presentation. For Final exam 5-7 pages (2 weeks to complete). He makes his teaching very interesting. He opens so many truths about the US, it is amaizing. Easy an A.

I took Gomez a couple of years ago for 101 & 140. I still use alot of what he has taught me in other classes. He is a very understanding teacher, but you def. have to be able to write a paper, its no free ride. He teaches History as a concept and doesn't focus on memorization like other History teachers. I still read books I used from his class.

Oh man this was the best teacher I have ever had! Prior to this class I HATED history! He makes it so easy to learn and understand! He is very approachable and down to earth. SO funny! He is pasionate about his teaching thats for sure! He's the best. Don't take anyone besides him!

Mr.Gomez is the BEST. His classes are super easy. You have to attend each lecture but the only work you actually do is a midterm a final and a 5 min presentation. He makes History super fun too. I highly recommend him

He is extremely biased and uses a terribly biased and un-scholarly textbook. I wouldn't care if he'd show the other viewpoint. However he's good insofar as he makes you question the normal interpretation of history. He only shows the bad and none of the good. He swears a lot. He does tell you how to get a good grade though. I'd take Pieper instead.

I loved his dedication to helping students & admired his passion for history. Before him I disliked history & was afraid to take it but he made it intrusting & kept my focus, even made me want to read the books we studied. He does curse A-LOT so if that insults you don't take him, but you will be missing out on the greatest history teacher there is

BEST teacher I ever had &! Will probably ever have! I hated history sooooo much before I took him & was recomended to him by my counselor. He has a PHD so he KNOWS what he's talking about. His lectures really had the whole class thinking & at times crying!! he's also hilarious too. Class was never boring. I REALLY recommend him!! :)

I graduated 3 years ago and I took almost every professor their. Majoring in history, I will never have another professor like him. He pushes you to think, not to think a certain way, but to think in general. I don't have his class is informative and easy. Midterm is one paper, weekly quizzes, and final presentation at the end with a 2 page paper.

If you are looking for an easy American History class, then this is it. I myself love history with a passion but I found myself dissapointed with Gomez's lectures, he is very redundant. He goes on and on about opression and rarely discuesses anything else, I felt like I was in a Black History class than US history. History buffs look elsewhere.

I really miss this guy! I had a great time in his class I actually took him twice at 8am. it is definitely a class you can stay awake for, even early in the a.m.

I took his class in the summer for a 5 week course. It wasnt that easy but it still was easy. He has you write two papers, one for the midterm and one for the final both must be 5-7 pages. THere are lots of quizzes so make sure you read the book he quizzes you from. IT was easy for me and most so itll be easy for you.

I took this as my first college class back when I was in high school and let me tell you, if you are sensitive to language don't take him. But I loved him and his method of teaching. He is so passionate in what he teaches that he cried a couple times. He teaches from the minority viewpoint and makes it interesting. The books are very inexpensive.

One of my top 3 professors at Valley! His passion for real unbiased truth makes him a great historian. He lays out EVERYTHING you need to know up on the board, so notes go a long way in his course. He assigns A LOT of excellent reading, and there are two major papers he requires you to write. You will love his class. Highly recommend Prof. Gomez.

Prof Gomez was my first college professor and i took him during the summer so we had a quiz every day and a 6 page midterm then a week after 6 page final. It was pretty easy if you read all the chapters which was a lot! He is beyond funny and overall a great guy and Awesome professor

Contrary to the review below me.. Not rude or intimidating but very well respected by and respectful towards students. This professor is very funny and easy to understand. However, a lot of reading and 5 page papers! if your paying attention and being responsible you will not have trouble with this class.

He is very passionate about his lectures, loves all of his students, assigns a lot of reading, but gives very small quizzes based off of the readings. His midterm and final are about 7 pages long, but he gives a lot of resources to write them, so it's a piece of cake! He really knows his stuff! Definitely recommend taking him if you can!

Mr. Gomez makes one enjoy history. He is very passionate in teaching and is a comedic person. Be expected to read alot and take quizzes almost every other day. The Midterm and Final are 5-7 pgs long but the instructor gives you everything you need to pass it. All of his instructions are dummy proof, clear and precise.

He is an amazing teacher, gives off extremely good feedback on the class. He does tend to yell alot, but in a way it makes the lecture more understanding. His grading style and what he is looking for is all in the readings he assigns. He helps and gives what answers he will look for in your Mid-term and Final. Mr. Gomez Is by far the best History Teacher on campus. He is so inspirational and passionate. I enjoyed every minute of lecture. There are quizzes on the reading and 3 papers. Gomez explains himself well so you will know exactly what he expects. I think every student should take Gomez at least once!!:)

I have taken this professor for both History 100 and Chicano history and he is by far the best professor at Valley College. He is so patient about his job and definitely will make you view things differently. I never wanted to miss any of his lectures.

I took professor Gomez for Hist 145 and absolutely loved it. He is very passionate during his lectures, he's super humble and down to Earth. If you pay attention in class and do the reading you can easily pass. He is particular about papers but he just wants his student to know how to write a college level paper. Is everything a professor should be!!!

Class revolves around assigned readings. Midterm is an essay. Final is an essay and a presentation. There is also an own choice book review. Quizzes generally every week. Watch videos and take notes also happens often. Take good notes. You will be expected to connect the dots between two assigned readings, you chosen book, and the videos.

Most inspirational caring teacher I have ever had. Be prepared to be screamed at during lectures then a second later see him choking up about to cry. I have never had a teacher who truly inspired me to do more. I left every class feeling angry and inspired to do something and help.

Very particular when it comes to writing your papers, tough grader, but if you try at least you can do good.

Believe the hype, this professor is one of a kind. Amazing lectures and his assigned reading is all books Ive gladly added to my library. Very inspirational; you will not want to miss a lecture. So passionate about the subject he almost tore down and started crying about the mistreatments the Chicano people had to endure!! anyways there was about 12 -15 quizzes during the 4 months made 2 extra quizzes for extra credit GL

One of the best teachers I have ever had! He makes history really interesting and relevant to modern times. The required books are really interesting and great to read. History is a circle, where we should learn from past mistakes, but often don't.

Gomez is an amazing professor. I took his California History class and it was extremely interesting. There were 3 papers with a final presentation. You must do the readings, but honestly the readings are super interesting and they are followed by a quiz the next class meeting. Just read and you will be fine. This class was one of my fave classes!

Wow, this is my first time eating a professor. I have been in school for years already. Professor Gomez stuck out the most out of many professors. He is very caring for his students. He offers many chances for extra credit and his essay questions are not hard and he is extremely clear on what he wants when it is written.

Fast grader. Besides the reading it was probably one of the easiest online class. Reading was intense but it was an 8 weeks course. Hes caring and wants students to succeed. Exams and quizzes are easy as long as you read or watched the videos. You also have plenty of time to take your exams or quizzes

Taking this class was one of the best things Ive done. Professor Gomez taught with so much passion it was inspirational. I was happy to attend this class. There is a bit of reading involved but doable. We wrote 2 papers and did a presentation. We also had weekly quizzes based on the reading. Easy quizzes as long as youve read.

Hes THE BEST! I took 3 of his classes and did well in each. He loves what he does and it shows which makes class exciting and fun. You actually learn with him unlike most history professors which are boring & just have u read things. Definitely recommend! You will love him and Im just a regular Lowkey student who sits in the back of the class

Professor Gomez is by far the best professor I've had. He really grasps your attention during lectures, gives you great examples of historical events to better understand the material. He allows his students to do extra credits, which we had every week. If you ever need help understanding the material, he helps you.

Absolutely loved his class. He is super inspirational. He is someone who loves his job. There is tons of homework each week but the information is super interesting that you just want everything to keep coming. I would take his class all over again. You should take it, hes worth it!

Anyone who says they didnt enjoy his class or whatever is because they cannot face the truths that he speaks. He is truly an amazing, caring, and active professor in our college and community. Took online class that was 8 weeks and it was a lot of reading from the textbook and also another book. Once you schedule the time you do your readings it's not overwhelming. The professor was passionate about his teaching so it makes you want to learn more. The weekly assignments have rubrics and he gives extra credit opportunities.

Very good and knowledgeable class, a lot of reading so be prepared. His class is simple do the reading and stay ahead and you will be just fine, start falling behind on reading and lectures it will be hard to recover. Will I take again? well yeah of course he's a respected all around great professor that makes you work for your grade.

Professor Gomez is quite passionate about his students. He truly cares for the welfare of the students in his classes as well as other members of Valley College. This professor is the best. The Native American History class was fantastic.

When I signed up for the class it did not state that zoom meetings were a must. You have to include information from the zoom meetings in the writing assignments and the final. He does make recordings of them but removes them at the beginning of the next week so notes are a must. I took it during the summer so it was a lot of work in a little time.

I recommend his class! I will admit he does assign quite a bit of work, but he makes you want to learn and participate as he is very passionate of what he does. He is also very open to questions if you have any!

I took Native American History class & it was amazing. His lectures are inspiring & the class is very interesting. You have 3 big assignments which are your midterm, your final, and an abstract presentation. He basically gives you the outline and you just put it on paper. Professor Gomez wants you to succeed! Best professor I've had at valley!

Professor Gomez is a great professor. He does have you reading ALOT!! quizzes on the reading each week. Video notes are the easiest thing in this class. He explains his midterm and final and gives you the answers and all you have to do is write a paper about it. There is a presentation and a 2-page paper that is worth a lot of points for your grade

Professor Gomez brings a lot of passion to the class. The workload is heavy, but engaging with the material through lectures, readings, and unstuck study can really help you succeed. Worth taking if you're interested in the subject.

This class was my favorite class at SBVC. Professor Gomez's lectures are so insightful and fun. He keeps it real and doesn't sugarcoat the history of America. There are pop quizzes that are easy if you read, and there is a final project that you have all semester to work on to present to the class at the end as a final. overall easy A

Professor Ed was very passionate about Chicano history. The easiest assignments were taking notes while he showed us a YouTube video on Chicano movement. The midterm was very stressful for me because it was 5-7 pages but other than that it was reasonable work and he was very explainable.

Professor Gomez is fantastic. If you keep up with the work, you will be fine; Lots of work, though, plenty of reading and writing essays.

Professor Ed Gomez is so good at what he does that I found myself ready to put in any amount of work just to show how much his energy, enthusiasm, and knowledge were appreciated. You simply HAVE to take one of Professor Gomez' classes. There's a reason he's a fixture at SBVC. His students all live him!

This professor is truly passionate about his field, good at explaining, and asigned readings with quizzes from the books mentioned in the syllabus (which can be found online for free). He doesn't assign homework, except for preparing you for a mid-semester essay and a final essay with oral presentation. I would recommend him without hesitation!

This class is really easy as long as you complete the weekly readings he assigns, which are usually short and during the quizzes, you can use the book for direct quotes. He explains things very well and is passionate about the subject; it's really easy to memorize his readings. I would highly recommend him! He's been my favorite teacher.

The class itself was mainly lectures and movies, on which we would take notes. We would then turn them in for credit. There were only two papers that we had to do, both of which were very doable if you dedicated enough time to them. He gives timelines throughout the class so you know how much of the final project you should have done.
