Really good professor! Programming part for the exams are open book/notes, and written part is closed book/notes. Exams are pretty easy if you go over the slides and assignments prior. If you don’t understand the assignments, he is very helpful at his office hours and will help you out! Overall an easy A if you study and go to office hours!
He takes attendance in the beginning, but stops doing it after he learns everyone's names. He really wants you to succeed - his best quality is his helpfulness. If you need help, don't hesitate to ask or go to his office hours. He'll pretty much give you the answer anyway. Go to class. He does the assignments with you.
Real great guy. Class was really hard for me. The topic is just horrible. If I put more time in prob would have gotten an A. Still got a B+. Pretty easy grader.
Great guy. He's out to help you, not to make you fail. A breath of fresh air in the business school at UD. Follow along with him in class and focus and you'll do great. It's a fun class designed for students who can barely function with certain codes (JAVA, HTML)
LOVED HIM! One of my favorite professors at ud so far. Nicest guy ever, he is always willing to help and gives tutorials on SAM2010 that most of the other professors don't. Take him for any and all classes you can, such an awesome guy!
Best MISY professor by far. Take him any chance you get. Hartono is the man
Best professor I have had at UD so far. He teaches you everything in class in a way that makes you understand the material, as opposed to just memorizing. Makes it very easy come exam time, never felt the need to memorize useless information. Homeworks are long and take a good few hours to complete, but prepare you for the exam.
Easily the most helpful professor I have had so far at UD. He says office hours are only a few hours a week but he was almost always there to help students. He really cares and wants you to succeed. He is a great professor and I would highly recommend him for any MIS classes
Best Professor I have had at UD. Insanely kind, and extremely helpful. Class was relatively easy and could not have imagined a better teacher. I dont know what to say other than he is an amazing teacher and an amazing guy. Take this class, with him.
Incredibly kind individual and so helpful. Wonderful professor and really cares about his students. I'm a MIS major and he's been my favorite MISY professor I've taken. Fight to get into this class
The sweetest professor ever. Makes sure that everyone in the class is on the same page at all times and extremely helpful in office hours. Material is not as easy as people say, but just keep up with the assignments. he's the best!
Really easy class but had a TON of busy work. Although the work was annoying, it really helped to understand the concepts we were learning.
Honestly this class overall is not hard but Hartono made it interesting and was very helpful with the assignments. Do the work and you'll be fine.
Hartono is an amazing professor. He is always willing to help his students and makes the class really easy
The class itself is fairly easy to begin with, but Professor Hartono makes it an easy A. He is extremely helpful so take advantage of his office hours. If you do the assignments on time, you are most likely guaranteed at least an A-. Put in a little more extra work and you will def get an A!! TAKE HIM
LOVED him! So helpful and will only continue if the whole class understands. Lots of assignments, but every MISY class has to go through it. Highly recommend! You must go to class though!
My main man Edward was always there for you in his office hours if you had a question about a problem he would walk you through the steps. There are a lot of assignments but if you go to class then you will understand everything because everything you do in class is what you are tested on. Exams aren't hard, and many homeworks are a grade booster
Professor Hartono is a great guy. He has an accent but you'll get used to it. You HAVE to pay attention in class and attendance is necessary. Homework assignments take a while and there are 10 throughout the semester. Tests are tricky but if you put in the time to study you'll be fine. Only take this class if you're interested!
Hartono is Excellent! Very clear instructions, and always makes sure everyone is on the same page. The assignments are annoying, but go to office hours and he will definitely help you out. Very kind guy, always has a smile on his face. Take him!
He's fantastic. I struggled with the course material but he really made an effort to make sure I was doing okay. I went to office hours a couple times a week but ended with a good grade, so it was worth it. If this class is mandatory for you, take him!!
Hartono was the best professor I have had at UD!It is easy to do well because he is such a caring and intelligent professor. He was always there to help you with assignments and if you paid attention and go to his lectures then it is very easy to get an A!! I recommend him for any MISY class you can take him with. Open book exams
He is such a great professor. He really cares about his students and as long as you do all the assignments you'll get a B+A. Final is hard because it's all memorized terms.
Dr. Hartono is amazing! He is super helpful and will go out of his way to help you succeed. The class consists of homework every week and 4 exams. The exams are tough, but you will do well if you study. Take him you won't regret it! Easy A-B+
Excellent teacher. Incredibly helpful in and out of class and he will do all he can to make sure you understand the material. Organized and straightforward in terms of grading. Go to class and do the assignments until you get a 100 and you'll get an A. Definitely take him if you can
Edward Hartono is, simply, one of my favorite professors I've had at UD. Clearly intelligent and thoughtful, he goes out of his way to ensure students success and makes himself readily available for office hours. Nothing against any other teachers, but I don't see how any could be a better alternative. Take Hartono for MISY160.
Definitely take Hartono! He is one of the sweetest, most helpful professors I've had. Always willing to help and definitely care about his students. There are a lot of assignments, but they help you understand the material. Hardly used the textbook but needed it sometimes for assignments.
Hartono is a great professor for MISY 160. Expect a lot of out of class assignments. If you pay attention during his classes you will be perfectly fine on the exams.
maybe he is easier for misy160, but misy225 is no joke. hartono will always be there to help you outside of class and is a super nice guy, but the class is far from easy. 3 exams, 1 final, a bunch of homework and in class assignments. java programming is not for everyone so if you can take something i would recommend it
interesting and helpful class. in class assignments and homework after most classes aren't to hard if you have the textbook to follow. All of the exams were on a computer, buy the textbooks! required class, good teacher
Nicest man, VERY fair grader. Goes out of his way to help students during the hybrid class session (you don't show up on fridays most of the time), tests are just like the problems you do for homework/in class. If you do these problems, you CANT get lower than a B. I have a lot of respect for this man because of how straightfwd this course is.
He is a great professor, very clear and teaches material well. Tests can be somewhat tricky and require focus so just redo class work and homework and you should do fine. He is the best MISY 160 professor, highly recommend him. Grading is fair, he will always give partial credit.
So this class sucks but he's good at teaching it. A lot of assignments so you need to be ready to work, but they're not that bad and they prep you for the exams really well. The final is bad because its all vocab but you never do anything with vocab in class, still got a 91 by cramming tho. Go to class because he makes it easier, its boring af tho
Sweetest man alive. There's a lot of work but it's all do-able. He will always help you if you need it. Must go to class, theres in class assignments that we do together. Homework is little hard. No class on fridays, easy vocab quizes that are online and everything is on quizlet. Tests are easy if you study (re-do all hw and in class assignments)
That's 2nd time I took his class. Most patient professor I have ever seen in UD! He won't take attendance, but every class has an in class assignment. 8 homework in total. Go to his office hour and really easy to get full credits. 3 exams and 1 final. Review materials are assignment and homework. Open book exam! Easy A if you spend enough time.
Great Lectures!!
Take Hartono! Nicest guy, will help you with anything you need. Material can be dull sometimes but he makes sure that everyone understands what is going on. Lot of busy work but if you do all of the assignments you will do well in the class!
Hands down my favorite professor at this school. Emails back within minutes, answers questions helpfully, and will even run over to you if you raise your hand in class. He's just super eager to help, and it's an easy class to begin with. Super nice guy, too.
I loved Professor Hartono! He was recommended by multiple friends of mine for this class, and now I see why! He strives to ensure that students understand the material presented in class and really cares about the success of his students. Would definitely recommend and take again if I could! Definitely the best professor I have had so far
The most amazing professor I have had here at UD. There is legitimately nothing bad to say about this man. If you have the opportunity take this class, I promise you will not be disappointed. The material is not difficult and there are always office hours, and sometimes he even cancels class and you can just go in with questions. Seriously the best
He is nice and friendly to help everyone.
awesome professor. cares so much. definitely have to go to class as the material is tricky and tough to teach to yourself, but his class is great and you will love him. need the textbook for the exams
Professor Hartono is an amazing professor. Incredibly nice, super helpful, and goes above and beyond to help his students. Responds to emails quickly and has a ton of office hours. Exams are a bit intense, but his advice of re-doing all of the homework assignments really pays dividends. Classes consist of working on assignments. Fantastic!
Such an easy class, if you go and pay at least a little attention, you'll be fine. The in class assignments are just like the exams, and he tells you pretty much exactly what is on the exams. Plus, Hartono is the sweetest man to ever live
Hartono is one of my favorite professors at UD. He's always available to students that need extra help and is very understanding when it comes to issues with understanding or schedules, etc. He makes difficult material more palatable and provides plenty of in-class assignments to pad out grades and drill material into your head. He's the best.
Amazing professor I really recommend you take this class He is very patient very very good
Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you show up to class he walks you through literally everything. This is such an easy class if you just show up and pay attention. On top of that, Hartono is literally the nicest guy ever. Definitely take him for MISY. There are a lot of assignments but they're pretty easy and exams are open book.
He was by far my favorite professor at UD. There are a lot of exams but they are easy if you redo the homework, sometimes you can redo your exams if you get below a certain grade. Weekly quiz on terms that helps your grade a lot. If you pay attention and follow along in class, you will get an easy A.
Hartono's the best, first day I didn't understand his accent, but after a day of getting used to it, it didn't matter. He's helpful, straightforward, and makes it all easy, one of the best I have ever had, and everyone I know with a MISY major wants him for every class.
He is my favorite professor at UD. The attendance is not mandatory but I'll recommend going to class because he will walk you through every step. There are lots of work but if you go to office hour or asking him for help, it's not hard. He is a very nice person and I would defiantly take him again. He's the BEST!
Show up and do well. He shows you how to do everything in class which is the same for homeworks and tests just remember how to do it and you'll be fine. Powerpoints are exact instructions if you forget and home work instructions have hints.
I've had some pretty terrible professors at this University so Hartono was really a surprise. The guy is great, gives clear directions and literally walks you through things until you understand. Classes Friday are optional! Only bad thing I would say is he gives only one extra credit opportunity and it is a ridiculously hard one.
Cares a lot about the students that actually makes an effort to succeed in this class. Class is not hard at all; but still do all the assignments and you will easily pass. Exams aren't crazy hard either (also he curves if the average is lower than he expected)
easy class if you're willing to put in the effort, must do the multiple weekly assignments and homeworks, a lot of busy work and attendance is essentially mandatory bc you will be lost if you do not attend class, Prof Hartono is very clear tho in grading criteria, and provides study guides for all the exams, highly recommend to take with Hartono
I had Hartono fall semester freshman year, and he was honestly one of the best professors you could have, especially being new to the school. He was more than willing to help, both in and out of class, and he dropped the lowest homework and assignments as long as you did the survey at the end. His exams were also very easy.
BEST PROFESSOR! So helpful and nice, and while you only need to go to classes on quiz and exam days, his lectures are helpful and will help you a lot. Take his class you cannot go wrong.
Best Professor at UD! He is always willing to go out of the way to help you. He does do the in class assignments with you so make sure to go to class. Highly recommend Hartono.
absolutely AMAZING professor. told all my friends to take it with him. hartono is such a nice man and always is MORE than willing to help and accommodate when needed. he explains things well and is extremely helpful and wants you to succeed. he is a gem of UD
Professor Hartono is awesome!! During class he walks you through all of the assignments which is super helpful. There's a good amount of homework outside of class but the software automatically grades you and you have unlimited attempts to fix it. There are some vocab quizzes but they aren't too bad.
Great professor! Starts the in-class assignments with you, but makes you finish the last steps on your own and it takes a while, so **try to avoid having a back-to-back class after misy** unless the buildings are very close. He is so helpful in office hours. Also very generous with partial credit on exams and has two extra credit opportunities.
Best guy and makes the class super easy. All of the in-class assignments are posted the morning of or night before, so if you complete them before class, there's no reason to go! Easy A.
Great prof. Straight forward classes. Gives u all the points u can get on exams. Can't skip or else you won't get whats going on. no attendance but u should really go. Worth taking his 8 am
easy class but god hes so annoying constantly repeats himself and over explains every little thing causing important things to get over looked and missed in class since he runs out of time
This class is super easy. You can do the assignment as many times as you want to get 100 percent and if you get the assignment done before class you dont need to go. There are 4 exams in this class and you go over excel and access. If you need to take this course for your major then do it with him.
Hartono is the BEST!!!! MISY225 was the hardest course ive had so far at UD but he makes it tolerable. I went to almost every single one of his office hours and because of this, I did really well in the class.
Super helpful and nice and returns emails very fast. He made MISY160 so easy and interesting that he made me want to pursue MIS as a minor. If you have the option, he's worth the 8AM. True gem of UD.
Hartono makes MISY160 so easy if you can take it with him!!
He's a good teacher, but is inconsiderate. His assignments take long to do especially the capstone projects. I failed the first exam and got A's on the last 2 but was only able to get a B in the class. He said that there was nothing that I could do even though I went to office hours everyday and never missed class, etc. Lost all respect for him.
Prof Hartono is a great guy and super nice. Homework due almost every day but it helps prepare you for exams so they're worth it. Would take him again if I could.
I love Professor Hartono! He made MISY160 a breeze! He offers tons of office hours, which is very helpful. He is extremely patient and overall just a very sweet guy. I totally recommend taking his courses!
Great Professor! Just show up to lectures and it makes the homework super easy! His lectures are super straight forward. The exams are a little confusing, but not bad at all. Theres lots of assignments/hw, but they're easy and help boost your grade! He teaches very well!
Great guy you can tell he cares about his students and his job. Homework and class work will be little hard, if your not already familiar with Excel and Access pay attention and you will do fine.
Dr. Hartono is a okay professor, he explained the material well during class and his TA was very helpful during office hours. But in the beginning of the semester he assigned way too much work over a short period of time. For example, he assigned three assignments for one week, which I thought was stressful since this semester was fully online.
good professor and course
Literally one of the best UD prof! He is very caring and wants every student to succeed! Make sure to attend every lecture and fully pay attention during lectures. Redo all in-class assignments and HW to prepare for exams and you will be fine. Take MISY160 with him if you can!!
Great professor! Very helpful, especially during office hours. Tests were straight forward. Make sure you understand the material taught in class and study the canvas vocabulary quizzes and you will be set!
Hartono is by far the best professor I have had at UD so far! I He made the material so easy to understand and is extremely nice and caring. Every class he walked through how to do each part of the assignments, and was always willing to answer any questions. If you have the opportunity, you definitely want Hartono as your professor!
Prof. Hartono's amazing. He conveys really hard material in a way that most students understand. He has 3 office hour sessions a week (each being at least 2 hours long) and is willing to help with any assignment. Sometimes the workload is tedious but his assistance usually makes it manageable. He's also flexible with deadlines if you're absent
The best professor Ive had here. Take him if you can!!!!!! Kindest man and ALWAYS willing to help
EDWARD! I only went to class a few times and still did great. The material is given to you on PowerPoint as a guide to completing work. Going to class is like going to a study group where he gives you the answers and you can leave once you finish the assignment.
Professor Hartono is the sweetest man! Going to class is not necessary because he provides detailed powerpoints and instructions, but I found it helpful to attend class so I could ask questions. The class was very easy and straightforward. As an MIS major, I really enjoyed it!
All I have to say is that he is definitely the most caring professor on campus! He helps you whenever you need it and he explains the material slowly and very well In class so that everyone can understand and get their work done. Also I have to say that he is a very very very understanding person
Hartono is the best professor at UD. If you get the opportunity to take him then you 100% should. He cares about his students and is always willing to help. This class can be confusing at time but if you got to him for help he will walk you through the coding process step by step. TAKE HIS CLASSES.
Class was easy, yet I can't say I learned anything. Class met at 8am which was brutal but overall very easy to get a good grade. In-class assignment are usually just submitting what you did in class or answering MC from the power point slides. Exams are all from the HW or in-class assignments (usually just copied and pasted).
Prof Hartono is so sweet and caring, class material can be difficult but if you show up and put in effort it really is an easy A. He carefully walks thru everything with you, and explains things in detail, really sets you up for success. exams have some vocab easy grade booster, study guides def help on exams. best misy prof ever, strongly rec!
Prof Hartono is the best! He makes everything super clear, and his exams are easy as long as you redo the assignments for practice. Definitely take his class!
Prof Hartono is a great professor. Classwork/Homework is straight forward as long as you pay attention in class. Attendance is not mandatory but you will be so lost if you don't go. The only drawback is that exams are Hard. Def have to practice and study to do well.
A pretty tough course taught by a good professor. The course consists of 3 exams with multiple parts (MC and Coding). Make sure you stay on top of everything and show up to class or else you will be lost. Prepare well for his exams by redoing his homework modules. Threw me off when he introduced jupyter notebook a week before the last exam.
Tons of homework even during spring break; There are in-class assignments that suppose to finish during the lecture, but he always let the student finish them at home. Exams account for a large proportion. There is no review for exams, redoing all your past assignments is the only review we can get.
Professor Hartono is amazing and cares deeply for his student's success. He offers extra credit and is a very lenient grader. 3 tests, 2 capstone projects, decent amount of homework but manageable. Lots of in class examples and he is very accessible.
Super great teacher! Class consists of in-class excel/access sheets which he goes through with us. 1 homework assignment a week with 3-4 videos max and capstone projects. He is super helpful in class, gives detailed instructions for homework, and is all-around a great professor! (also, may just be honors, but friday class is just open office hours)
He lectures well with follow-along activities that he does with the class. I respect him very much for doing the activities with the class & am thankful for how nice of a professor he was.
He went over material in class, but then would throw you on your own and had nothing to help like videos or a textbook except Lecture slides he posted which were confusing and didn't explain much. Tests and homework were always much more confusing than what he did in class. Did not acomodate anything. Take another professor if possible.
Great teacher. Very helpful both in and outside of class time. Understanding of late work if you really don't grasp the material. Be open with him. Tests are harder than the coursework, they definitely require practice leading up to. Highly recommend Hartono to anyone.
He's a great guy! Knows what he's talking about. Don't fall behind. STUDY for exams by doing assignments! Find study buddies, very important.
Had Hartono for MISY160 and liked him so much, I took his MISY467 RPA class. Sounds intimidating, but is actually very EASY AND USEFUL. Class consists of in class assignments, very little homework and 3 exams. Exam questions are ripped from in class assignments, almost no reason you shouldn't get 100. Drops 4 lowest assignments.
I love Hartono! He is so caring and always happy to help. MISY160 is a rather tedious class but he made it so much better. There's no class on Fridays because they're office hours which is so nice! There is a decent amount of work outside class because of homework + finishing in class assignments, but it's manageable. I highly recommend him!
This class was difficult but professor Hartono made it bearable. He is quick to answer emails & questions about the hw/class and is available for extra help. There's a decent amount of work & tests are difficult but he gives partial credit! Friday classes were optional & used for hw help if needed! I definitely recommend taking this class with him!
Really nice and helpful professor. You learn a lot of things of different things in this class, very quickly, but he is always more than willing to help and very understanding. Drops some of your lowest homework and in-class assignments. Exams are exactly like what you do in class and gives partial credit.
If you have any experience programming in any language, Hartono's course is quite easy. He is very clear in lectures and there are many assignments with unlimited attempts, which means it is very easy to get an A. Hartono also doesn't hold class on days HW is due and even though he can be slow and repetitive, he is a great professor.
Professor Hartono is absolutely great! He can sometimes move very quickly in his classes so it's important to pay attention, but is very helpful during office hours and wants his students to do well. He is accessible outside of class and all exams or projects are very straightforward.
Professor Hartono is great - he makes the often tedious MISY160 class much more engaging. Lots of in-class activities and he's always happy to help. Apps like Unstuck study can also be super useful for study prep.
SUCH AN EASY CLASS!! Every assignment and project you can redo until you get 100. Digital delivery textbook required bc thats where all assignments and homework is on. I had MWF class and fridays were just optional office hours. Exams were so easy and similar to all assignments and in class assignments. 100% reccomend
Annoying as this class is, Mr. Hartono makes it bearable and doable. I'm not particularly skilled in Excel, but if you attend the lectures you should have a good idea of what's going on and how to do it. He walks you through all of the class assignments which is nice even though he moves kind of slow.
Amazing professor and way better than any other option for 225! Hartono explains the logic and syntax of Python well without leaving much room for confusion. Lots of assignments, but they're good practice for exams. He pulls 5 random programming problems straight from the classwork/HW for exams, so study them carefully and you're good to go.
Professor Hartono wants to make sure every student does well. Though I rarely reached out, he is accessible outside of class. If you have prior knowledge of excel or sheets or you are just good at picking up this class is easy. Even if you're not, he goes over everything in class and class isn't required on Fridays unless there's an exam.
If you need help, he will give you help! Office hours or even just emailing to meet he will always meet with you.
Lectures are important, and it is easy to get lost if you stop paying attention for a few minutes, but he can answer any possible question about any assignment. Also, I never saw him have a bad day.
Hartono is an angel. The class is a little difficult, and the lectures had a lot of material, but he was there to help! There was only class on Monday and Wednesday, the majority of weeks, leaving Fridays for office hours to ask questions. Go to class, and go to office hours if you have questions, and you will get an A.
The class was fairly easy, as long as you show to to every class and do all of the assignments. Exams are taken directly from the classwork and homework, so if you do them, you're great to go. In class assignments are due before you leave for class so on a day with more materials it's a lot of work, but nothing too hard.
Such a great guy. He really wants everyone to succeed and is super high energy and awesome. The class is easy IF you go to class regularly. 3 exams no final.
Very good professor who wants everyone to do well.
Truly one of the best professors I've had at UD. Although attendance was mandatory, you only had to go to class on Mondays and Wednesdays (Fridays are basically office hours). He is one of the sweetest professors and is so willing to help you. Exams aren't too difficult and are the stuff you do in HW/Classworks. Would take a class with him again.
THE best professor ive taken at this school, if you're confused and make an effort to go to office hours you will succeed. Good amount of work but pay attention and it will be easy.
If you upset him once he will play in your face the rest of the semester
The best professor I have had so far at UD. Easy to get in contact with; if you struggle, go to his office hours, and he will help you. There is a decent amount of work, but he gives you slides that are easy to understand. Exams aren't to difficult either. I would take him again.
