monotone!,worse teacher to take history for history does not make it interesting does not make it fun, study guides have nothing to do with tests and he hates u if u dont like history and dont packup until he tells you too even if its time to
his subtle humor makes you pay attention
He does speak in monotone and his lectures can be a bit boring but he is very helpful when asked to help a student outside of class.
Very helpful if you approach him. Subtle humor makes class interesting. Does have a monotone that can be boring, but knows the subject well and makes it very clear. Very helpful study guides and the tests arent as hard as the study guide makes you think.
One of the funniest profs, if you get his humor. Interesting and knowledgable. Very helpful if you ask.
material can be a bit boring. but he is really nice if you ask for help.
Throw in lot of unfamiliar questions, but helpful if you study his cheat sheet

Mr. Hashima was a pretty ok teacher. His lectures can get a little boring, but he tries to keep in on the entertaining side. His tests are all essay, but he gives you a study guide that is pretty helpful, but its still pretty challenging. I passed though.
wow, hes always smiling, even when gettting mad at a student. i have always had trouble trusting anyone who smiles 24/7. but either way, hes a good teacher, very passionate, but needs to allow a little more class participation!!!
Although monotone - I found him to be a great professor. Study chapters ahead of time, read cheat sheets and study your questions before a quiz and you will do just fine. Quizes are multiple choice, and both midterms are essay. Study and you will be fine!
Great teacher. Made Simpsons references, and not bad on the eyes.
good teacher, makes references from the simpsons. interesting class, but he only gives three assignments the entire semester, so you have to ace them all to get a decent grade. kind of a hardass when it comes to grading papers, but is very nice teacher. would recommend this class.
boring
Great teacher, very nice. It is hard to get an A from him, as I can't seem to understand wot he wants as answers on the essays, but if you utilize his office hours, and participate in class, I'm sure you'll do fine.
Everyone loves Mr. Hashima! he is the best.
Great professor, but not for slackers! If you need a hand, he's always there.
Good teacher...really knows what he is talking about...grades hard on essays, but if you study the review guides and read the assigned reading you'll do great...definetely recomend this class
Although I earned an A, this class was very challenging. He is a good professor and outlines his lecture on the board. He speaks a bit fast, so make sure you take serious notes. There were 2 midterms, a take-home final, and a paper. The study guides are the tests. If you want an A on the exams, write down EVERY possible detail you can remember.
this guy is the coolest asian teacher ever! but he is hard as hell! make sure you study every thing, this guy will kill you with the reading and he likes to pick on everyone to answer questions. i hated that ish.
Just pay attention in class and take good notes and you should do fine in his class.
Great class. I like his shirts/ties. Do atleast 75% of the reading and ALWAYS PARTICIPATE IN LECTURE DISCUSSION!! No tests.. you'll do fine. Love the class.
so far so good
Hashima is a difficult but great teacher. I loved this class and the readings. While the essay assignments are hard and he grades hard, this class was my favorite last semester... plus, he's adorable.

omygod can he talk for the entire 1 hr and 15 min!!!

Has an extremely arbitrary grading system. Material covered in class is frivolous.
Hate this class. His outlines are not useful, he grades hard, he is very difficult to pay attention to for the whole hour and fifteen minutes, he is not into class participation, and he does not connect his facts in any sort of thematic way. You learn this class out of the book and the teachers' leactures are a little supportive. Avoid his class if possible.
I like his exam technique because it gives you the chance to show how much you actually comprehend.
Oh my gosh I HATE HATE HATE this class. He is so incredibly boring and does the SAME thing every single day. He is so hard and makes you feel stupid. He is a nice guy personally but as a teacher, he should be teaching in the UC level because he is so hard! Don't take this class!

Let's just be frank. Mr. Hashima is a very strict professor and has high standards. If you take his class, plan on reading and studying a lot. With that out of the way, he is a very good Professor- very clear and intelligent. You WILL learn in his class, guaranteed. Also very fair.
Hahima's a nice guy but lacks the skills needed to be a teacher. The class was pretty dull. You can tell he's excited about what he's teaching but everyone else isn't. The class started out with over 30 people and had under 15 when it ended. If you study hard though you should be able to get a descent grade in the end. He is pretty fair.
Boring as heck. I mean, he teaches very clearly, but extremely hard to get a B in that class (many all-nighters just for that grade). Don't plan on getting a C and not do work. Tests and assignments, however rare, are extremely hard and he grades hard. Only take this class if it's your only option.
very boring and uninteresting.
this guy expects "a high standard" education from you...he wants you to study and get things right but he is very helpful if you actually ask em...but then again, this class is very hard.
okay, all you guys complaining that his class is hard, you must be SERIOUSLY lazy. i NEVER studied for ANY of his exams, and it was the easiest A i ever got. i mean, his class isn't a cake walk, but if you can read, then you can pass this class. don't blame the instructor for your own laziness folks!!! he's an excellent teacher who is very helpful.

Not a cake walk, but Hashima is an amazing guy and you learn so much from him. It's great to be with a professor who actually loves his job. Would definatley take him again if given the oppurtunity. Not bad looking either.
Wonderful class. Wonderful man. You learn so much, that you do impress yourself with the knowledge retained. If you are stumped or want elaboration on a topic, visit his office. Beautiful man.
He had alot of assignments, and reading/writing was a must in his class. He made all the hard work seem fun. I never got so much out of a history class like that. He had a great attitude about the subject.
Not too hard but not too easy of a class. Prof. Hashima was tough, but at the same time not anal-retentive. He put things in terms that were easy to understand, and his subtle humor made it enjoyable. I had a lot of fun in this class!
He is a great teacher. His lectures could drag on but he is good at what he does and you can tell he loves history. He explains things very well. If you have questions dont be affraid to ask. If you read the book and take notes you will pass the test. He likes essays so be careful. all in all he is a great teacher.
He is a good teacher. He lectures a lot but it can be intresting at at times, but he does sometimes get in a good joke or two. The worst part about this class is every test your required to write atleast 2 essays about a topic. When I took the final I think I had to write 4 different essays it was hard but I got through it.
He's nice, approachable, and knows what he's teaching but gives too much reading, and tests are hard...don't take him unless that's your only class for the semester...
He had us buy books we didnt even use. Essays up the rear and treated my class like a bunch of children. If I had read the material more, I would have gotten an A instead of a B. He does know his stuff though.
doesnt lecture until assignment is turned in
Really nice guy, but he lectures a lot. The format is reminiscent of high school in how he teaches. Definitely loves his job, but I had trouble staying awake. Not too hard, not too easy. Just.. long.
He enjoys his subject, and is extremely familiar with it. You cannot "fake" your way through his class. He asks his questions in such a way to determine if you have already read the material. He is very interested in ensuring that you understand the material. This is not a class for those seeking an "easy" pass. You will learn.
Professor Hashima credential is strong. You better be prepare to work hard in his class. You get a good grade if you know the material and have the main points and some examples. You can get a B even if you're a C student. T.P. San Jose CA.
Way too smart in history.
i became a history major because of him.
Hashima is the man. His course is demanding, but you will learn more in his course than most other classes combined. This is not an "easy" class whatsoever - in fact, likely your hardest. If you show up everyday, read the text thoroughly, and take great notes - the exam portion will be much easier to study for. Do not be lazy, and you can pass it.
the class is very hard. i normal get history, but this class was to much at the time for me. I would definitely take it again if i had the time. Hella chill guy, noting but nice and caring
useless do not take him or his class. does not teach and grades hard.. Biased grades on test and papers.
BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER!!!! I have never gotten a very low grade in History ever!!! I attended classes, wrote very good papers and i still got low grade which dramatically affected my GPA. He was all over the place during his lectures and required reading from 2 books which were never really discussed in class. IF you want to get LOW GRADES, take him!
Professor Hashima is awesome! About half the class stuck through to the end, which is normal for a U.S. History class. Most lectures are interesting and he tries to crack jokes every so often. You will pass if you take the class seriously. I got an A by doing 'good' on exams and doing excellent on homework, and so can you. Definitely take him! :)
Ok. I have always done good in history classes and genuinely care about the subject. I pay attention, take notes, missed 1 class. I ended up with a C. Prof. Hashima is very knowledgeable but a strict grader. You have to write your essays and exams perfect to get a good grade. I was surprised I even passed! READ THE TEXT and DO EVERY ASSIGNMENT!
Kind of boring. TONS of reading-keep up. HW was assigned every couple of weeks-not too bad. Tests are all essay form & he's particular. I'm an honor student and found it difficult to get full credit on my essays. He takes a LONG time to get graded work back, and we didn't get to the 1980's (reading or lecture). He is a very nice person, though.
you have to read everything he assigns to do well on his tests. be ready for essays and short answers on his tests, no multiple choice. extremely reading intensive class so be prepared. understanding but this class takes effort and time.
Good idea not to take this class if you want a good grade. I have always been good in history and got my 1st low grade ever. Takes off points on tests and doesnt say why, when you get it back two weeks later. His homework is a joke and again you get points taken off with no explanation. Super boring JUST STAY AWAY FROM THIS CLASS.
this professor was insanely hard. i ended up having to drop the class. you had to do these study guide things that took forever! and there were two books so it was really confusing. this ge class was much more work than it should have to be.
I had to get an account just to warn people about this proffesor. Sure he seems like a nice guy, but avoid his classes at all cost!! I just wanted to take my G.E classes and get them out of the way, and this guy is a slave driver. Waaay to much work just for a G.E class that I never wanted to take in the first place. STAY AWAY FROM HASIMA!
Hashima is an extremely knowledgeable professor who is very helpful. His class was no more difficult than others, as long as one is prepared and does the assignments. Will definitely learn a lot about the subject in his class. His assignments were fewer in number, but more demanding - in synthesizing conclusions, and, supporting written assertions.
Over half the class dropped but it wasn't impossible. I still managed to get an A. I recommend not reading the book, but instead wait until he releases the study guide and just spot read for answers. That worked for me at least... Don't even bother taking the class if you're a slacker, you will fail. Studying for tests takes LOTS of time.
Interesting, different approach to history instead of the mundane date/name memorization approach
His class is hard but not that bad. He has a very interesting approach at history. I never learned anything about history untill this class
Read both books, even if you come everyday. Some teachers are overeducated and they become disconnected with common students. They think their class is the most important, and Hashima is one of them. Note: You're not the only one that exists! He talks until you've retained unnecessary info. He talks as students run out the door. He just talks.
THE GOOD: He knows his stuff. You will really learn from him. He's test are all essays and he'll give the questions before d exam. THE BAD: No matter how much u understand his lecture and read d book..dnt expect an A; he is a VERY STINGY GRADER. NOTE: he'll kick u out of d class if u use ur fone BUT he doesnt mind u sleeping, doesnt make sense 2 me!
I wouldn't take a class with him. I wish I would of know about this site before I signed up!. He is a tough grader. He has anger management issues. HUGE EGO. by third assignment I finally got my first assignment back. He takes FOREVER to grade stuff. HE repeats himself over and over and over again. Good luck if you take this class you'll need it
Really boring to listen to, hates cellphones, grades HWs, midterms and finals really hard. Poured my soul into my work and got low grades on all. Expects waaay tooo muuch. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Repeats himself and takes way to long to go over the same subject. We did not even get to the civil war...
a very HARSH GRADER! Took forever to grade the assignments and exams! repeats himself over and over again! lectures are very slow and boring! Thinks he's all that! my advice is: DONT TAKE HIM! if his class is the only class left open, well.. its better if u just take it next semester.. an A or even a B is impossible to get.. very stingy!
DONT TAKE HIS CLASS.. or u will regret it..
Hasima is awesome! Regardless what others say, he is the most respectful professor at ARC. I absolutly enjoyed his class.
wow! im an a student. history is interesting to me, i never got a bad essay grade in my life. spent 2 hours jus reading the first assignment and 2 hours writing it and got a C! going into first test on ch1-5 and he has only covered up to ch3! horribly rude too. dont take him!
HORRIBLE Teacher! do not take him. he is the harshest grader in California. A paper you work 4 hours on will get a C no matter what. He does not give any A's and thinks his stuff dont stink. He thinks he knows everything.
History 318. He is a terrible teacher! I took several American history classes and ALWAYS GOT AN A. With this teacher, I was afraid that I wouldn't pass! Asked us to write essays about material that he hadn't yet covered! Takes forever to grade anything. His grade is based on 2 "Midterms" and a final, that's it! His essays are imposible to u
I think my favorite thing about Hashima-sensei is that fact that he will not tell you anything helpful when you really need to know, like when you're letting him know that you're gonna be gone during the next class and after you come back you find out there was an assignment due. I don't even want know my grade...
This guy is one of the most difficult teachers you will take at ARC. He always pushes dates back for tests but expects for you to read the text without mentioning a word in class.
man boy do i hate this man do not take him he will make college a nightmare and all this talk about he is nice what do u mean his nice yeah he might talk in a friendly tone or use good vocabulary but he does not give a care to his students you miss something he will not let u make it up its freakin history and this is arc we are not a 4 year instit
He has a lot to say about history, but extremely tough grader. Unlike any other high school, you can not coast by in this class. Even after putting 4+ hours into a paper, it's still near impossible to get higher than a C.DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. NOT EASY. He's very educated though. HARD but Nice.
Hard grader! exams R based on essays, very strict with essays, worser than a english prof.im a good essay writer n he tore mine down. class avg. on 1st exam was a 64% Talks in a nice tone but can be pretty rude. no ex. credit n doesn't get back to u on emails. lectures good but goes threw it quickly and ony writes down topics so hard 2get good notes
This class is not for slackers and FAFSA hunters. It is for those who want to learn history in an objective critical way. Involves a lot of reading, but hey (!), it's an Honors class. It will be anything, but boring. Majority of grade is class discussions. 3 books to read - 3 papers to write. Just don't try to BS through and you'll be fine!NO TESTS
Do not take Honors unless you are a History major. You will be tested not only on the information he gives you, but also outside research from prior classes. The amount of information which he provides for you equates to about 60% of what you are tested on.
He is an extremely critical grader. Nice guy, but EXTREMELY hard to get anything above a B in his class. I have spent 12 hours on just ONE ASSIGNMENT for him before, and that still wasn't good enough. Just beware, if you take his class, he is probably the toughest professor I have ever had here at ARC.
I enjoyed the class a lot. Prof Hashima is knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the subject matter. Drawback was that he tended to ramble on some subjects, so that others on syllabus got overlooked. Expects a high level of critical thinking and analytical ability.
As long as you pay attention in class you will be ok. you dont really need to read the text book all that much he only tests you on what he covers in his lectures. ALL HIS MIDTERMS ARE ESSAYS!!!. two essays per test. one based on info he gives you for the test the other on a topic of your choosing within the set choices.
I thought this class was very difficult. I thought it was more of a writing class than a history class. I definitely recommend taking an English class first. The content is fairly easy to understand as long as you pay attention and read the text, but formatting and including everything in your essays is the hard part.
do not take his class if you want a good grade,he is a VERY STINGY GRADER no multiple choice tests, just reading intensive, this class takes a lot of effort and time.
Hashima is a very strict professor and has high standards. If you take his class, plan on reading and studying a lot.
Hashima is one of the toughest teachers I've ever had. Do not take this class or you will regret it. He has high expectations and A's are out of the question. You will spend hours on his assignments and will surely be disappointed with the grade you receive. Do not take this class!!
This is definitely a COLLEGE history class, so expect to do some critical thinking! Professor Hashima's class is not easy, so you must pay attention and understand what he is asking from you. I actually received an "A" in his class, but it took a lot of work. He is a respectful and engaging teacher who wants his students to learn.
He is an extremely critical grader no multiple choice tests /exams are only based on essays very strict with essays do not take this class or u will regret it.
A friendly professor who cares about the subject matter. (Honors U.S. History)
Awful teacher! you will fall asleep in this incredibly boring class. He doesn't even teach you anything about history, its mostly just busywork with a very harsh grading scale. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE! CHOOSE ANOTHER PROFESSOR!
Grading and tes wise this class was easy he gives you the exact questions that will be on the tests ahead of time so if you fail it is your own fault. The problem with his class is that when he lectures they are confusing and unclear so you must rely on your text book a lot and he uses movies to as the primary teaching method which is annoying.
I'm glad I didn't read these reviews before I took this class. Prof. Hashima is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He is a tough grader, but if you listen and read the text and take good notes, you should have no problem. Does not put up with too much crap and I like that.
Class was challenging, I took history of Mexico. His style of teaching I found quite interesting, really makes you think about the things you're learning and why it's important. There were a few writing assignments and lots of reading, tests are hard, but not impossible. Show up and put in the effort and you'll pass the class.
Only 3 assignments for the whole semester and he grades them super strict, his class is boring and all he does is lecture about something he assigns as reading. He was down to like 1/5 of the class size when I withdrew. Waist of a semester.
Incredibly difficult. It's impossible to figure out exactly what he's asking on the assignments. The tests are nearly impossible to pass. It more like an English class. I'll be taking ENGWR Honors and STILL my essays weren't good enough for him. If you're an A student, expect a C; C students expect to get a F. Very pompous. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
He's pretty tough. I already don't really like History as it is and I had a really hard time motivating myself to even attend this class. His assignments are very hard. First test I thought I did well... got a C. Second test I thought I bombed... got an A. Go figure! It's hard to know what he's looking for in the answers. Everything is like essays.
Was scared at first because tests were essay only. He is hard grader but still got high B's on all exams without having to study very hard. Much more interesting than my other history class. *not to do with teacher but students in my class were extremely annoying and interrupted lecture constantly*
Okay, he does have a very well and coherant voice, but I have almost passed out from boredom many times, not because I dont have respect, but cuz i just cannot keep awake. Next, his tests are so terrible. They are essay tests and you have to memorize 9 different essays fully written and he only chooses 4. Also his assignments all the same and suck.
Hashima expects a high level of participation in this class, and you have to be good at analyzing text. 2 essay assignments and the final which is 50% of your grade. Definitely a cool class though!
I enjoyed this class. He gives detailed instructions for assignments and exams. He genuinely cares about students, is knowledgeable about history, and is always willing to help. He does grade pretty strict, but if you follow the guidelines, it's hard not to get a good grade.
Good teacher but the contrast between his easy going lecture style(which he often did not finish)and his strict grading system, gives me too many mixed messages. all tests and assignments are hand written, you get 90 minutes to write 2 cognitive essays.impossible for most students. didn't keep my grades current. only 2 posted before final
I like that he gives study guides on possible essay topics. *Hint: write rough draft essays it helps a lot!* He is a tough grader and you should probably know how to construct a decent essay before taking this class and also need critical thinking skills. I procrastinated a lot and still passed. It also helps to participate in discussions.
Very difficult assignments. only requires 3 "exams".He is very vague in what he desires for said exams. His lecture is relatively interesting but it seems like it's very unhelpful. He is prone to outbursts, he hit a students desk because the student was sleeping in class.
Hashima makes this class somewhat interesting but it still was boring. 3 assignments are the entire grade and the class is all discussion based. You have to participate a few times every class with thoughtful points to get full participation which is 10% of the grade. You need to be a good writer. If you're shy in class do not take this class.
Hashima makes this class somewhat intersting but still pretty boring. He is a tough grader and allows no extra credit. Do not use your phone in class, he will kick you out. Make sure you are pretty decent writer, he grades like an English professor
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. All cockiness aside I'm a great student: I take excellent notes, am attentive in class, and LOVE history. This teacher is just about as boring as they come. Has 3 bs assignments that are all the exactly the same. And takes forever to grade. He has a mean side so If you have the misfortune of enrollment don't text in class
Never had to withdraw from any of my classes over the course of my college career. ..This is my first. Grades by the most strict standards...nnever explained how he does it or what's it's based off of. No matter how much effort I put in to my work...ccould not score higher than a D. Do not take his class. You will be disappointed! !
This is my first. Grades by the most strict standards...nnever explained how he does it or what's it's based off of. No matter how much effort I put in to my work...ccould not score higher than a D. Do not take his class. You will be disappointed! !
Whatever you do, do not take his class. I by no means am a bad student or one to blame the teacher, but his teaching style is very difficult to succeed with. It's not clear what is on the exams, if you ask you're just going to get more confused. Grades varied greatly no matter how hard you studied/what you studied. He had a tough grading system.
Professor Hashima is a very monotonous professor. I caught myself dozing off on more than one occasion. He is very unclear about what he looks for in assignments and tests and He does have an angry side to him. Try your best to avoid taking his class. If he is your last resort, Godspeed.
Very vague on what he expects on assignments. Not helpful with his students. Takes 2-3 weeks to grade assignments. Mostly never responds to his e-mails. Avoid this teacher at all costs!
His lectures are very vague as he gives almost no factual information. Always says why this happened and how this happened without actually giving his students the answer. His pace is very slow and you must read the textbook to succeeD. No texting in class. His grading is fair, homework assignments are complete bs nothing to do history
Professor Hashima can be a nice guy but everyday before he starts to lecture he takes half an hour explaining what he will lecture on. If anyone tries to give their input he says "ok." He grades very hard on tests and lectures everyday. I think he like to hear himself talk. This class is hard and I would not recumbent him.
Hashima is a chill teacher, however, he lectures on what he is explaining rather then teaching. He spends half of class explaining what a primary and secondary resources. The homework he assigns is an English assignment(?). He has no rubric so your playing Russian roulette. Test: all hand written essays which is too little to extract on bad grade
Hashima is very fond of lectures, while sometimes he may drone on, we do examine many photos as well as many interesting and heartbreaking videos. While I enjoyed the class time, you will still need to read on your own time to fill in the blanks that are sometimes left by the him. DON'T USE YOUR PHONE and the class may get some extra credit then.
The class involves long lectures as well as resulting long naps. The tests are essay format which some found difficult but I found to be easy especially because he provides the possible prompts beforehand. Only 4 homework assignments. Overall a mediocre class with a mediocre professor that sometimes tells a good joke.
Worst college class I've taken yet. Nice guy, but not the best professor. Participationfeedback in class is mandatory to passing so to make any comments in class you have to read beforehand and the reading required is a heavy load. Bored to tears in his class. Very hard to pass. Terrible teaching style! Strongly advise not to take this professor.
Professor Hashima is not really helpful, but still you can get an A if you work on your own.
Being in his class was one of the worst experiences of my life. I dreaded it. It was painful just to see him and listen to him talk. He doesn't know how to plan a class or teach. He is so disorganized and give stupid pointless assignments. DO NOT TAKE HIM. You will suffer.
Professor Hashima is very smart and his lectures are very clear in terms of how he relates the past with future context. I've taken him now twice, this class is a redo but he demands and deserves respect. You ask for help he will give it to you. I'm averaging an A because I follow his Syllabus.
Get ready to read and participate in class. Most assignments are class discussions and writing assignments. He's a pretty hard grader. Boring class discussions sometimes as he can ramble on and on. Some books that he recommends are actually interesting but I wish discussions were more engaging. He can also be disorganized sometimes and lazy grader.
Very Intelegent and a super nice guy, but not the best professor. As long as you read and do the few assignments he has, you will pass.
Verrrrrry Hard Professor. Would not recommend him to anyone. Gives 2 essays to write under 1 hour and 30 min. If you ask for help he explains it in a way where its still so hard to understand him!!!!
Lectures are all over the place (jumps in between slides) and you can't get any good notes from his lectures. Attend class but read the textbook in order to be successful. If your writing skills are poor, don't take the class. Rarely replied to emails. Class consists of 4 writing assignments and 3 in-class essays. 1 extra credit opportunity given.
Come to class prepared and ready to take notes. Beginning of class gives outline of discussion for the day and expects class participation. 4 assignments (due online) and 4 midterms (in class essay), each of which professor thoroughly reviews in class prior to due date. Pay attention and ask if you need clarity.
Very hard class. There are only 4 assignments and 3 exams in this class. The exams consists of 2 essays with 1.5 hours to complete them. He wants a strong thesis for each essay. Lectures can be all over the place compared to the assignment and exam content, but i feel he does provide great context of US history. For an A, look elswhere
Tough Grader, plain and simple. He is an alright instructor, i did learn in his class, but most lectures are not relevant to exams. He shows a lot of videos and makes them available to us online. Exams are essays. There are 3 exams and 4 assignments. Making it quite hard to get the A. He wants super specific detail. 88 on all my exams. . .
Halfway through the semester he kind of stopped caring; discarded class schedule. Still learned a lot, the class is always a seminar with the occasional video. Our grade was based off of our essays officially, although I think in the end he based it on our attendance, character, and personal knowledge of the topic bc I didn't sub 1 essay, got A.
He makes you work for the grade! He is professional and expects you to participate at some point at minimum. He knows ALOT about the history of the early Americas + Mid east, Europe and African history! He is knowledgeable and NOT just reciting facts. There are 7 assignment that have specific essay prompts! BE SUPER SPECIFIC OR YOU"LL GET a C, maybe
I have been in community college for 2 years, and this is my last semester before transferring. But this class is the one I learned the most in. Hashima is a really great teacher. He actually cares and is passionate about what he is teaching, and that makes the class more engaged. He is understanding in regard to life issues as well.
One of the worst professors I've had. Doesn't have a clear grading rubric and is a tough grader. Nitpicks every detail. Also has this annoying manner of lecture, he always has this weird smile on his face and talks in the same tone. Would not take again, personality is dry and lecture are onesided and boring.
Unbelievably flexible. students take advantage of him. Did not have to buy a book however there was a lot of online reading. He can tell if you've read or not, but is understanding. All essay assignments, so it is a class for readers and writers.
He's nice but can be stern at times. You can pass his classes without reading the textbook, but still have one because his online essay assignments use it. Don't use your phone in his class, he gets very upset.
Professor Hashima is really nice but hes really tough grader
I took this class online and it was actually really bad. He is hard grading and strict. Anything that I submitted back he would always gave me the lower grade even though I kew all my work was right and from the book. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PROFESSOR TO ANYBODY.
Hashima is very hard to follow. He also does not use canvas properly so you dont have a clear picture of whats to come. Its kind of a mystery I guess. Some weeks you will have assignments and some weeks you will not so his grading is also a mystery. He takes a while to grade assignments & respond back to students as well.
I took professor Hashima for HIST 325. We were transition to online class during CO-vid. He outlined all the assignments that needed to be turned in and It was pretty easy to follow. Get ready to read & answer a lot of entrance questions. If you communicate in advance with him, he is more than willing to accommodate you with late submission.
an ok professor. a lot of discussion posts, 3 quizzes, 2 writing assignments, usually no extra credit. takes a while to grade stuff. for each chapter, you have to watch a couple of lecture videos and video segments. if you aren't specific in writing, you'll get points off. only got an A because he gave us extra credit because of COVID.
He is a very well-educated professor who loves to think critically. We use an online free textbook along with other texts he will provide. No tests, but there is a seminar paper every month. Very few students take advantage of his office hours, thus go to them. He is very understanding and is eager to discuss topics with classmates during class.
Although he is kind of a tough grader, he is a great professor. Everything is laid out on canvas and clear instructions of what he is looking for. He allows 2 or 3 attempts for each quiz and the rest of the class are discussions. I wish more professors were as organized as him!
Honestly a great guy and super organized. Grade is basically dependent on discussion posts and quizzes, and there are also two papers. (I would have gotten an A if I actually did my discussion posts on time, so do that lol)
I didnt even start taking this class and this professor dropped me and a couple other students for not having notifications on and not logging into canvas by the first day of school. I emailed him and told him that i had bought the class and the book and wanted another chance to rejoin and he never emailed me back after emailing him twice about it
I took his class online and although it was more reading than I was prepared for, I learned a lot. He had really student friendly lectures-- videos of him talking with slides as a visual. I was impressed with that because not a lot of professors did that. Also expect a lot of writing and discussion posts. Very fair grader. I recommend!
He is a great professor! Easy grader and clear rubric for the assignments. I missed my exam by a day and he let me make it up! I would def take this teacher again knowing I passed with a 94.9. Very short lecture videos, only about 1-2 of them. Easy work and does not nick pitt your work to knock your grade down.
This professor is very easy, and a guaranteed A. There are lots of discussion posts and writing assignments, but those are given clear rubrics and as long as you follow them you will receive full points. He is a very lenient grader and is knowledgeable. I would definitely take his class again. You won't find a better professor than this.
He's a good professor. He cares about his students and would do anything to help him. I'm a high school student in the dual enrollment program and I was able to get and A (with some struggle). If he didn't offer +4.5% extra credit, I could've gotten a B. Overall, I would recommend him.
This professor was absolutely great. I took his class online, he had great lectures on the material. This class can be an easy A if yo simply do all the work, I personally did not think he was difficult. Simply, do not procrastinate. Towards the end of the semester he gave sufficient extra credit to help boost your grade.
I am still awaiting a reply for the email I sent him 6 months ago. A really tough grader and comments "deeper thinking" as if I didn't write 3 paragraphs on a topic. I don't recommend to take this class. The extra credit that he offered brought my grade down and he made it out of 10.
Answers on Canvas quickly. There are weekly discussions which take about a month to get graded. Based on his modules, there are lots of lectures to listen to but it's manageable. He has a section of his own lectures and 5-10 other videos, which aren't required to watch but that are very helpful and you understand the topic well.
Not recommend if you like to take this class.
Weekly lectures which are used for weekly discussion posts or quizzes. Sometimes both a week, sometimes just one. 3 or 4 total exams. 2 total writing assignments. Everything is open book. Very tough grader and doesn't give any feedback which is rather annoying. Class was interesting though. Lecture videos are also helpful just watch at 1.25 speed.
He is definitely a tough grader. If you want to take his class, be prepared for a ton of work. And in the end, it won't even matter because no matter how much effort you put in on those discussions, he would deduct points anyways. If you are a student used to getting an A in all classes, just don't be disappointed if you get a B or C in his class.
I'm not a history major but I took a few of Professor Hashima's history classes. His lectures are thorough and he was always ok with lecture-related questions. Exams were essay format. He was a tough but fair grader. Made you use your brain and not just regurgitate facts in a vacuum.
This class is very difficult to manage. He does not grade things until the end of the semester which makes it hard for people to know how their doing in the class.
If you have no other choice then to drop me then by all means don't let me stop you. This would just delay my education goals and have wasted my time and money."!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have phenomenal academics as well as respect for my professors. Dr. Hashima grades m
This class can be challenging, but the professor is organized and provides helpful resources. Attending lectures and using tools like Unstuckstudy for study prep can really assist in succeeding. Expect a fair but rigorous grading system, but it's worth the effort.
Professor Hashima is rarely accessible and a very slow grader. These things would be excusable if he left thorough notes on why you're being the given score you are on your homework however he doesn't do that either. Assignments almost every week whether it be a discussion or a writing assignment, offers about 3 extra credit assignments. AVOID HIM!
This course was very difficult and I have never struggled before. He grades very harshly but without feedback to know what you did wrong. He takes days to respond to messages and grades assignments weeks after they're complete. He is friendly, but a bad professor. Avoid this class, he is a lecturer, not a teacher.
Loved the subject, but was very disappointed in Professor Hashima. Submitted all homework on time, he graded up to 6 weeks later. Frequently had dead links / wrong info in the modules. I'd let him know, he repaired them maybe 2-3 days later, shortening our ability to work on a successful schedule. Wouldn't take a class from this professor again.
I think the class is fine, not great. He is way too slow at responding, and way too slow at grading. I wouldn't say attendance is mandatory, but if you don't show up, certain material will probably not be too clear. Does not do exams, very occasional quizzes. Grading seemed very harsh at times. Kind of like he grades on mood.
Professor Hashima is a knowledgeable and supportive instructor who clearly cares about his students learning and success He evaluates work very carefully while his standards can feel a little strict at times, He helps maintain academic quality and encourage students to do their best work.
