He is a unique professor. Throws out some really funny lines during class. Very energize about American Sports and military history. Six books in this class, but easy reading and reviews it before class. if your military history buff, you'll like this class.

You could hate history and still love this class. Guy cusses like a sailor, he's hilarious. His tests are pretty easy too. If you go to his lectures and look at the notes you should be able to get an A

This class is super easy. Only grades are 3 tests. I didnt even buy the book. Tests are based off notes. Ur supposed to read a book before each test for an essay but sparknotes will do. Hes funny and makes the subject interesting. We got out at least 30 min early every class.

This professor definitely made me love coming to class. I knew what to expect each time: the lecture would be funny, memorable, and we would get let out early. Professor Krzemienski is passionate about what he teaches!

BEST HISTORY TEACHER EVER! He actually likes the subject he teaches! Attend all the classes for notes. Reading isn't too bad. Only needed 3 books. This class is fairly easy as it is enjoyable. Highly recommend him!!!! Btw, he swears a bit, but that makes the class a LOT more entertaining. Seriously, take this class with him!!!

GREAT TEACHER!!! He is really funny and makes you actually want to attend history class. The only hard part about the class is the book readings you have to do but if you just sit down and read them its not hard. Textbook use is low but actual book use is high. Also, he is very enthusiastic which makes you want to learn.

Best. Teacher. Ever. I hated history class before him, but he turned it into the most interesting class I have ever had. I actually wanted to go to class and listen to him. He interacts with his students and is very energetic. I wish I could another one of his classes just for fun. Highly recommend him.

One of the most Awesome profs I've had at Ball State. We had 2 tests and 5 book reviews, but the books were actually good reads unlike most classes. He makes class a ton of fun and is willingly to work with you if you are late on a paper. Definitely take him if you get the opportunity.

Krzemienski was awesome! I just graduated with a history major, but hated American history. I needed something to fulfill my upper level American history course, so I thought a class on WWII in the Pacific wouldn't be too terrible. He was one of the best professors I've ever had. He actually made war interesting for me, even though it was at 9am.

Dr. Ed is a great prof if you can take his humor. As a history nut, I'd already read most of his assigned books and his discussions/lectures weren't as in-depth as I would have liked, but they were interesting. To be honest, I missed probably 1/3 of the classes, but still received a high grade. If you like mil-history, this class is no sweat.

One of my favorite professors. I got a B in the class, I think. Just took the final exam and did pretty well on it. Exams are straight forward and he's incredibly laid back and extremely humorous. He is one of the top, if not, the top History professor. Seriously, take this guy. You will not regret it.

Dr. K is pretty cool. His lectures are interesting and he's pretty funny. But his tests are pretty hard. They're all about names and dates, but if that's what you study and remember, you'll do fine.

One of my favorite professors by far. His lectures are always interesting, he's a hilarious guy, and his class is THE only one I truly look forward to attending. And it's at 9am, I'm not a morning person. Great guy, explains information well.

He's really entertaining during his lectures but the way he takes notes is annoying.Basically if you take bad notes, you're screwed since he has no guides or anything. Tests are over a lot of material at once and you have to read a short book for every test also. Not a terrible class but it's hard to make sure you're totally prepared for the tests.

Hilarious lectures! Really laid back, has great metaphors, and makes everyone laugh. He had several classes where he made us watch movie clips just for fun. Great teacher, much recommend. Wow.

He's hilarious! makes lecture fun with jokes and stories. But the materials is pretty boring. Don't bother buying the textbook, the lecture covers everything you need. you don't necessarily need to buy the 4 other books (study guide answers are online) but some are worth reading. show up to lecture and you'll do fine

He is a very passionate professor. he loves what he teaches. You don't need the huge textbook. Buy the little novels for the tests. Take very good notes and write what he says. Tests are easy if you have great notes and take the time to study. He is funny and very vibrant. He is one of the best professors I've had.

He has been my favorite teacher. He is super funny and makes everything easy to learn and remember. You only need the textbook if you don’t plan on going to class. We watched parts of Monty Python in class because we were learning about that time period. The study guide questions are the exact questions on the tests. Easy A

Very interesting lectures! Class goes by so quickly! There are 4 books but you don't need to buy them. You can find all you need to know about the books online! Go to class so you have all the notes you need for the tests! Gives extra credit which is a 4 paged paper. The tests are tough because we learn so much in so little of time. Great teacher!

Required books to read. Doesnt require textbook. Go to class+do workeasyA. Study guide is the test pretty much. The questions over the books are word4word on the test. Can find answers on quizlett. Hilarious and will keep your attention! EC paper to boost 1 test grade. EC for showing up one day. EC on every test. Only rewrote my notes and got an A

Ed is a great professor! He gives extra credit on three of four tests. Text book is not required, but 4 individual reads are and attending the lectures are a must if you don't want to read the chapters of the text. His class is just an easy one to attend. He is funny and all the students love him. He is very personable and is very easy to talk to.

This is a professor who's excited about about his subject matter. There's no main textbook, just 4 short source books. You really don't need any because all of his study guides are on Quizlet. Multiple choice exams. Lectures are great, you won't want to miss them! Swears occasionally, sometimes tells dad jokes. Overall awesome, though.

Ed is a great teacher, he makes an unpopular subject interesting and easy to understand. He is really funny and practical. He's not one of those teachers that think school is all you do, he always asks how your weekend was and likes to joke around. He's a lighthearted guy who loves teaching and makes it the best experience for the students.

Ed is incredible. As someone who struggles with history in the past, I'm very picky on history professors but Ed is amazing. His lectures aren't boring, he's funny and his test aren't hard. As long as you do the review guide, you'll do fine. You can find all the answers to the books he makes you read online. TAKE HIM!

This professor re-sparked an interest in history for me. As long as you pay attention to his lectures, you'll pass. Only 4 exams, no finals or midterms. No papers, besides the extra credit. He always gives study guides. He's loud, passionate about his field, and likes to joke around. Would take any class taught by him.

Ed is by far the nicest guy I have ever met. I had him for HIST 150 this past semester and I would enjoy waking up in the morning just to go listen to his lectures. He gets you the information in the most entertaining way possible so that it almost doesn't feel like a required class, its just fun. Take Hist with him if you get the chance!

Great professor. Show up, take notes, and you'll pass. You don't really need any of the books, but you might as well get the 4 source books. Tests are easy, always on blackboard. He really knows his stuff and explains it in a way that's entertaining.

Ed is by far my favorite professor. I absolutely hate history, but he makes it interesting. He's super funny and usually ends class early. Once, he told us to write down our favorite movie and Beatles song and turn the paper in at the front and we could leave. I was there for five minutes and got two extra credit points! The tests are easy but few.

Ed's class is honestly a lot of fun. He doesn't take attendance and the lectures aren't boring. However, it's such an easy class to blow off, which may leave you in bad shape when you get to the test.

Ed is an awesome prof. He is really funny. And I think he's pretty hot (judge me). But he understands that you're taking other classes so he won't load you down with work. Just like 4 tests, and they're exactly like the study guide. Don't buy the textbook--just take notes. Seriously. But if you skip class, you'll be totally lost. So go to class.

He's has been one of my favorite professors I've had all of college. He's hilarious in class and actually makes the material enjoyable to learn. There are no homework assignments and only 4 tests which are super easy. I would definitely take him again for another class. Don't buy the textbook.

great prof. only 4 tests make up your grade. he's hilarious. he gives study guides for every test and a reading guide. the questions from the reading guide are the exact same questions on the test. i never read the books, always used quizlet for all the answers. as long as you review your notes, it will be a very easy class. don't by the textbook

Ed is a colorful guy. This is purely a lecture course, but his delivery always keeps it interesting. He managed to keep my attention in a class that I didn't want to be in. The grade is based soley on exams, but he gives you about a 4-day period to do each one. The tests aren't very difficult. Do not skip class! Every class he covers something new.

Ed was one of my favorite professors! He is loud, curses like a sailor, and really makes lecture interesting. The only downfall to this course is that the tests are difficult, so if you want an A you are going to have to really study. Otherwise his lectures are fun and there's no way not to pass. Also the 10 pt. extra credit paper is helpful.

Attendance is not required, but is necessary, there are 4 non-cumulative exams that are multiple choice simple, do you know the material, no complicated analysis stuff. Ed is hilarious, he also gives extra credit a few times just for showing up to class.

This class made me wish I was into history more. Ed is super nice, funny, and helpful. If you don't go to class to take notes, you probably won't get a very good grade. He gives study guides that I highly suggest doing. You have 4 tests and that's it. You have to read a book for each test but they aren't actually that bad.

He's hilarious, as long as you like cussing. You can skip as many classes as you want, he doesn't take attendance but be careful. All of his tests come from his lectures and they are rough if you don't study. Although he has TA's that take notes everyday you could always bum off of.

Super funny, cusses a lot, lectures are actually interesting, cool professor overall. The only grades you actually get in the class are from the tests, and the tests are based on his lectures and the small books to read. I've always hated any social studies class, but I am beyond happy I signed up for his History class.

Ed is awesome. He's hilarious & makes a subject that is usually unbearable for students interesting & fun. He posts study guides for every test & the TA's usually have review sessions beforehand so you can have any questions answered.

Mr. Krzemienski has a dry sense of humor and cusses in class, what's there not to like? He's chill, and his tests rely heavily on his lectures, which he makes pretty interesting. There are 4 exams (last exam counts as non-cumulative final), and a book to read with each. Honestly, if you Sparknotes it, you don't /have/ to read it. I recommend.

This was my favorite history class I've ever taken. Ed is super funny, loves to cuss in class, and likes to draw things out even though his skills are less than sub par. There are only 4 grades in the class, which all come from tests. You have to read a novel for each test, and the rest of the material comes from his lectures. An easy A for sure.

Ed is funny during a lot of his lectures. They can be heavy sometimes. No homework, grades are based on tests. If you don't prepare yourself for the tests ahead of time, you will fail. Tests are hard and the info given in class is dumbed down from what's on the test. Attend class, take notes, and study just like every other class.

Ed is super funny and really makes the class more fun. The only grades in this class are your four exam tests. Sometimes he provides a "quiz" (extra credit points for showing up) and will dismiss class after 5 minutes. Study a lot, but his exams are pretty basic, they don't focus too much on the details. Definitely recommend Ed for HIST 150!

Ed is a good professor and super hilarious!! Only grades you get are from your 4 test throughout the semester, so make sure you take good notes. If you do, you should be fine. Randomly will give out extra credit and it is usually a two random question "quiz" then he lets the class leave after. I would recommended him to anyone in a heartbeat!!

I love having his as a prof. He is funny and cusses a lot. He cares about saving students money and loves every student. Wish his class sizes were smaller tho. Made me love history. Hot in a weird way. Took the 1st exam and got a 95%. Attendance mandatory. Grades only based on test scores. Not a hard class. Most test questions found on Quizlet.

By far the best HIST prof at BSU. Hilarious, informative, passionate, easy-going. All the test material is from lecture, but can also be found on quizlet. If you don't take Ed, you are missing out!!

I took this online as a summer Class. Becasue I can not stand history. However he made it awesome. He is extremely funny, Our only grades were three tests, he offered extra credit. We had to read three short novels. I highly recommend you take him before you graduate. You will not be sorry.

Here's the real deal. Dr. K is absolutely a great professor and is one of the most hilarious people you'll ever learn from at Ball State. However, for History 204 and 205, his tests are very difficult and extremely detail oriented. There is no homework so tests and the 1 paper will either make or break your grade so study and each book.

I loved Ed but do not recommend taking the 5 week online version. Packing three novels into that time sucks and so does a test every other week. Also the hour and a half lecture every day of the week is a lot. That said, tests are directly from lecture; no textbook required. Talks fast but is funny and makes history interesting.

Ed made Hist 205 the most enjoyable lecture I have ever had. He does an incredible job in showing how sports intertwine with social and political issues throughout American history. It is not often at Ball State that you can go through a class with a professor thats has written such an incredible book that touches on the aforementioned issues.

100% would recommend Ed! The online class consists of video lectures and 4 tests. I didn't purchase the textbook and was completely fine. There is a novel to read for each test, but I didn't read them and was fine (Book questions are on Quizlet). He makes the lectures hilarious and interesting. If you do the study guides, you'll be fine on tests.

Dr. Krzemienski is hilarious. He understand that this is a core class and doesn't expect anyone to be super passionate about it, so he tries to make it interesting. He makes every lecture funny and is a very caring person. He is accommodating for any issues one might have during his course, whether that be with the course or outside issues.

Best professor ever! His lectures are very engaging and down to earth, they definitely make you like history. I would recommend going to class, however, there are plenty of Quizlets out there that will help pass the lecture portions of the tests. Whatever he writes down during the lecture, which is very minimal, is what is going to be on the test so it its easy to study with that and the numerous quizlets for his class. You don't need to buy any of the books. I would recommend going to the lectures, he doesn't make history boring like the normal professor.

Ed is one of the best professors I've ever had. He makes learning history fun! Every class is a 50 minutes lecture but the lectures are so full of information and great stories and jokes that it flies by. I highly recommend taking any class taught by Dr. Krzemienski.

The whole class is based off of 4 exams (each worth around 25% of your grade). Exam 1 Neolithic Era, Exam 2 Middle Ages, Exam 3 Enlightenment & WW1, and Exam 4 WW2 & Cold War. Show up to class! I never read any of the books. Use Sparknotes and Quizlet. You do NOT need the West in the World textbook! I didn't buy it thankfully.

I love Ed! He's super funny and very passionate. I enjoyed every class. It's important to note, though, that he doesn't really give homework, so test grades are very important. I would recommend him to everyone! (He does swear a lot, so if that bothers you, maybe you shouldn't have him)

This guy is so funny and is really easy to pay attention to in lectures. However his History 150 class was much harder then the class my friends were in. The only grades in the class are 4 tests and they're all hard.

Each exam is 25% of your grade, not graded on anything else but 4 exams so if you do poorly on one exam then the rest of the semester is screwed. Other than that, he really did try making history as enjoyable as possible lecture-wise, he's a really funny guy.

Ed is probably the most entertaining history professor I've ever had. He's funny, makes quips about history and sports, and makes lectures fun. You're graded based on 4 test that focuses on lectures and the book for that section and a book report. There are chances for extra credit in class! Honestly, Ed is an amazing professor!

Eds lectures are great (best part of the class)! There are only 4 tests and one book review so make sure you know your material WELL. He does give extra credit here and there which helps a bit, and the book report is easy. The only bad thing is, the study guide (other than for the book) is just a list of names so make sure you review your notes!

Dr. Krzemienski is by far the best professor I've had yet. I've always liked history anyway, but his class is the best part of my day. He's passionate and funny and there is never a dull moment so don't expect to nap during his lectures. Attendance isn't mandatory, but the tests will be difficult if you don't go.

AMAZING professor himself, he is hilarious and makes lectures very interesting. Attendance is not mandatory, but you should go to receive the notes for the class. Otherwise, it will be harder to pass. The course is based only on 4 exams. No homework at all, which is nice. You will need to study and take notes, but he will help succeed if you ask.

This guy is hilarious. I was afraid I wasn't going to like any of my history professors here, but Ed is one of the best. He is definitely like my highschool teacher who had me fell in love with this topic. 100/10 would definitely take this class again. Outstanding dude. I have NOTHING negative to say about him.

No textbook to purchase. As an online class, this was efficient and easy. Your grade is based on 4 exams only. Each week you have to watch two boring lectures, but the exams are easy if you watch the lectures and retain that information.

The class is based on 4 exams. If you take notes during his lectures and read the book he assigned, you will pass. The thing about Ed is that he is kinda annoying. Throughout his really long lectures, he has a LOT of side comments and "jokes." His comedy act gets old quick, but overall easy to follow. Also tends to bring up politics for no reason.

Ed head does it the right way. Dude is funny and was super understanding of the hard times brought on by the pandemic. I took this class online, which was unfortunate given that the prof seems to feed off of class feedback during lecture. Grade is based on 4 exams, so few cushion points. Read summaries of the assigned material and you'll be okay.

The professor basically divides the curriculum into 4 or 5 units, each followed by an exam, so theres no actual final exam towards the end of the semester. The professor has a terrific personality, and always loves jokes about history. He can honestly make you laugh everyday, if you attend his class as instructed. He is fairly reasonable too.

Textbook not required. Professor is funny and tries to make lectures enjoyable but he does tend to ramble. Take good notes during the lectures though because your grade will only consist of 4 exams (ranging from 55-70 points) in HIST150 - if you fail one, your grade will plummet. Not necessary to read the other required texts, just use Quizlet.

pretty much never went to class and didnt ready any of the books and ended with a B in the class. The class is only made up of exams and a final and zero homework assignments so make sure you do good on the exams but for someone who didnt do crap in this class the exams were fairly easy so maybe show up to class and its an easy A.

Really great professor! He made our class fun and he has a great sense of humor! He provides free books and textbooks, so you won't need to buy anything from the bookstore! He tells many dad jokes and funny stories so his lectures aren't super boring for it being history. I don't go to class though and I have a B. If you go everyday you'll get an A. There are only exams so you have to do decent on them to be okay, but he has offered me extra credit which consisted of an easy four page paper.

This class is based on 4 exams. You also have to read 4 novels that are on the tests. His lectures are very engaging and tries to make them fun. The test questions come straight from his lectures. Do the study guides for the novels as the questions are the same on the test.

Very easy class, amazing personality. Makes the learning experience enjoyable, you can tell he has a passion for teaching in general. Loves what he does, knows what he is doing. The notes are straight forward, the tests are basically the notes (lecture based), the books aren't needed for the tests (look at the review guide and go off sparknotes)

His class on The Vietnam War is by far the most impactful class I have ever taken, and he does an amazing job of teaching the material even when it is online. You read 4 books and watch one lecture a week, while watching a episode each week of Ken Burn's documentary. If you are a history major, take this class. You won't regret it.

Ed was a very caring and funny professor to have. He truly cares about his students & tries to make the lectures as fun as he can. This class was very boring because 1) its straight up lecturing & 2) its history. The only grades you receive are from tests so its hard to bring your grade up if needed. I would take a DIFFERENT course with Ed again.

This was quite literally the only online course I've ever retained information in. His lectures are interesting and entertaining. There are a couple books to read, but they're great reads and he gives guided reading questions that are the exact questions on the tests. If you take notes, you'll be fine.

Amazing teacher, Ed is one of the only teachers, if not the only teacher, to actually get me excited about learning history. He was great. I'm not a big history person so I was concerned about how this class would go, but he made it fairly easy to understand and he was always cracking jokes during his lectures. I loved this professor; however, his lecture style did not come easy to me. I am used to out-of-textbook study guides, while his style was more "free." He encouraged us to write what he instructed but also do our note-taking depending on what was challenging to each student. Although I would not take his class again due to the style, he was great!

For being a gen ed class, this class is really easy because he makes his lectures easy to understand, and they hardly ever last the entirety of my class, which is 50 minutes. The entirety of the grade in this class is tests, so make sure to prepare at least a little for them because they are long and timed, and some of the questions can be tricky.

This is your typical lecture class, and honestly, what I expected from lecture classes. You go, you sit, and you listen. He finds a lot of ways to keep, even non history nerds engaged in the material. He's very lighthearted and will crack jokes in class. Only lectures and no homework. The only grades in this class are from exams, which are timed and long, but he gives a review sheet before with pretty much all the questions on the test. Open exams with no lock-down browser. No need to buy textbooks, he will post pages if needed. Funny and understanding guy. Easy A class. Funky lecture style.

Nice guy, knows his stuff. His textbooks are 4 regular shortish books. He provides the first 3 for free in pdf form and you can find audiobooks on youtube for them. Had a few extra credit points throughout the semester and only 4 quizzes for your entire grade. He likes to make a few jokes in the lectures.

I fall asleep during most teachers' lectures but not his. He's so entertaining and makes history (least favorite subject) so much fun. Although attendance isn't required, it's important if you want to pass. It's all lectures and tests you take on your own with no big assignments. He doesn't usually take the full period either. Out of all the required classes I've had to take his was by far my favorite. While attending wasn't necessary I still went often because I felt like I was actually learning things. And even on the weeks I missed because of stress or lack of sleep I wouldn't have to worry about being behind on anything in the coming week.
