1126.Edward was a nice man, pretty clear with his lectures. I came in the class actually interested but the class itself is pretty boring. His tone is monotonic so doesn't help either. The material got boring because it was 20 pages for each chapter. Need to go to class because he does lectures separate from the book. He's willing to help. HW online
He's the best professor I've ever had! He's very patient and very nice! Tough grader, but I definitely learned a lot! Take his classes!
Do not even consider taking this man if you are actually looking to make an above average grade in what is supposed to be an easy course! Monotone lectures, daily quizzes, and multiple chapters of material for every test. His study guides will prepare you for about 25 percent of the test. So good luck.
Dr. Laws is a good lecturer. He does class notes by PowerPoint then posts the PowerPoint on noodle so if you missed something in class, the notes are made available to you after class. He also provides previous tests as part of your review and the actual tests have many of these questions on them. He is more than willing to help if you're lost.
Honestly the worst teacher I've had at LSU. He is so boring and monotone. Gives a question after each class that he pulls out of thin air. He also gives "practice exams" for each test but they are maybe 25-45% of the actual test. Literally the other questions are from who knows where because he didn't lecture on them. DONT TAKE.
In-Class quizzes every class. Lectures are long and boring. Only 3 tests, Final, and pop quizzes make up your entire grade. Study guides cover about 60% material on tests, and tests have many tricky questions. You can find better notes on Quizlet and Noteswap to prepare. You WILL have to study.
Laws is good guy with corny jokes. Lectures are long and pretty boring. He takes attendance everyday by giving a on question quiz at the end of every class. Quizzes are not hard and he droops the lowest 3 quiz grades. His EXAMS ARE literally COPY and PASTED from his study guides. I also found his test online on Note Swap ..... Easy A
This class was interesting. Highly math based. BUT don't be afraid you can definitely do well, just go to class. He'll go over something 50 times until you understand. He gives practice tests that are very similar to his tests. He also usually tells you mid-class if you're having a quiz that day & helps you if you need it. He is funny as well.
Super boring and confusing but easy A. Absolutely no homework. Pop quiz at the end of every class on the material covered that day. The quiz is typically 1 or 2 easy questions from the notes you take. Open book test. If you need to take a science genED this is a good choice.
Honestly one of my fav profs. Yeah he's boring and monotone but he's like someones nice grandpa. He seems to know its an entry level class and treats it as such. Quizzes at the end of every class based on what he taught that day (Not too hard. General concepts from the day.) Exams are open note / laptop / phone. Overall easy class and a caring prof
he is montone, so boring. Gives in class quizzes after every class. for the test he gives study guides, but only 10-15 questions actually end up on the test. there's two test and a final, the final is 40% of your grade. I barely passed his class. To be honest, just take someone else or wait for something else to open up if you don't want to stress.
He's super sweet, you can tell he cares about what he's teaching. one question quiz after end of every class for attendance but it's always a super easy question. exams are open everything, book, notes, phone, laptop etc. would take again
AWESOME teacher, tests are open everything and he is very caring and nice. he tries to make things as easy as possible. he cares about what he is talking about. i highly recommend taking him!!!
Ed is actually a dope guy. You do have to attend class everyday since there is a 1 or 2 question quiz everyday at the end of class but its easy and bumps your grade up. Theres only two tests and then the final but they are open everything (notes, phone, laptop) He grades everything super quickly and updates Moodle ASAP. 10/10
He gave us a false sense of security. The first test was so easy and alot of people got As. Almost everything was in the review. Second test? 1 question was in it and everything else even google said idk. had to change the grade scale. 70-100 was an A. 50-70 was a B. if that doesnt make you want to take someone else idk what will
DO NOT TAKE OCS 4216 WITH THIS MAN. He has no idea what's going on and was not supposed to teach this class this semester. The pandemic makes classes harder on everyone, but his lectures should clearly outline the homework and exams, his do not. His lectures do not line up with the homework and he rambles through his lectures.
Dr. Laws would have long lectures with questions at the end and the questions were always on the tests. The tests are exactly like the practice tests. I would recommend taking this class, it was very easy overall.
Only had three test in total. No other assignments. The final was worth 45% of our grade. My test grades were A-, B, & A. finished with a B+. Everything is posted on moodle, and you have to keep up with it yourself. lectures are insanely slow & boring. I would take another teacher, I've heard others were better.
Nice man. Very smart. Most test questions are at the end of each chapter but not all. Open book/notes tests so make a study guide along and along (which I had done that) but get the book because the lectures don't cover all of the test material. However, some of the data has changed since the book was published so lectures are important too.
There were 2 exams , then a final and that was it the whole semester. He gave some practice exams but other than that it was very straight forward and the only three grades that counted were the 3 exams. If you take the practice tests and review them it is easy to make a good grade.
Prof. Ed where do I begin? He is not a bad teacher just a boring one. I went to one class all semester and that was the first one. The class has 3 tests that's it. This year they were all online, but the final is 45% of your grade. If you know every question at the end of each lecture you will be fine, but prepared cause it takes a while to do them
Take his classes. Yes, ENVS 1126 is made up of three tests and nothing else, but one can easily do well in these tests (iykyk.) I went to one lecture: the first one. NO ATTENDANCE, and everything is done on Moodle. Before taking the class, check where the tests for the class are. Moodle: good. Himes: Run.
I thought he was a cool dude. anyone that puts in effort he is willing to help
Very boring, don't take a small class where attendance is mandatory. The class itself is interesting, but all pretty baseline, he just goes on tangents and the lectures are boring. All material is posted online, thats where I get my notes since I stopped attending class.
Definitely an easy class to take, his lectures are extremely boring but attendance is not mandatory, and he only assigns a small quiz every week which are usually pretty easy if you use the notes he provides.
class had about 800 kids so if you didn't show he won't know. You know the audio books your English teacher put on in high school well that's his voice so i just slept through it or didn't pay attention, test every Friday so I recommend listening a little in class and like 3 exams. it's just really boring honestly. but he is really sweet!!
I don't show up to his lectures but still have a good grade. Quizzes every week and the quizzes and tests make up a big part of your grade so be sure to do well on them. Easy class
This class had the be on the the easiest classes due to the lack of effort you can put in class. Basically there was a quiz every Friday and you can just cheat. Its only 5 questions. Then after 2 months or so you get a exam based on the question on the quizzes. that's it. SUPER EASY Highly Recommend if you just want credits. SKIP CLASS YOU WILLPASS
Very easy and straightforward 5 question quizzes. Do not need to attend class, just look over PowerPoint at your own time. Tests were just the same quiz questions and some students already created quizlets with questions to help you study for it. No Himes, and take at your own time and pace.
Do not need to attend class, he posts the powerpoints online after each class. There are quizzes due every Friday, but they're 5 questions and easy to pass. 2 tests all year but again very easy. If you fail it's because you didn't submit your assignments. Tests and quizzes are taken outside of class on Moodle btw.
Never went to class (attendance isn't graded) and got an A-. There is a quiz at the end of each week for 5 points and most answers are online or word for word in the PowerPoints he posts. Midterm and Final are easy and online. No tests taken in Himes.
This guy sucks. He has the most monotone and boring lectures ever. Also, his quizzes seem to be the smallest detail he mentioned during those long a$$ lectures. It's not the worst class if you are in a pinch, but I honestly almost hate this man just because of all the hours I wasted trying to listen to him. Take another class.
It is an easy Natural Science credit compared to other sciences. Very boring. He is really monotone and I tried to ask him for help, but wasn't really helpful. The grades are quiz based with two exams. Quizzes are weekly, some questions are searchable, but a lot of them are pretty hard to get the answer for. Exams are pretty easy.
Professor Laws is the NICEST professor I have ever had. He loves what he does & he does everything to make sure you do great. He gave opportunity to turn in work late so that you could be sure of what you were turning in. The only complaint I could even make is that he is probably too smart 2 be teaching dummies who dont show up to class. JUST COME
Absolutely amazing professor!! He is such a brilliant man that truly wants his students to succeed. His classes are difficult, but he provides all the help needed. Practice exams are exactly like the actual exams. A little effort goes a long way in all of his courses.
Literally love this man so much. Incredibly smart and helpful if you actually put in the effort. I would suggest going to class but it's definitely not mandatory.
Dr. Laws is a great prof, class required notes but he cares and is funny.
Professor Laws is a great professor that genuinely cares about his students. As long as you go to him earlier in the semester, he will do everything he can to help. All of his classes are very exam heavy but he covers all the material on the exams during class. He has open-note exams!
Edward Law is a very easy class and professor took him for environmental science 1126 and made a A+ and never went to class all graded assignments are online on your own and you can take them anywhere between the window he has open for it very easy class.
He is chill. Easy class. You should be able to get in the A range.
Easy class to pass, all test and quizzes are on moodle
Very easy course. You do not need to go to class. Everything is online. I would take again
You do not need to go to class. He posts everything online, even the PowerPoints. Very very easy A
Prof. Laws is one of the sweetest people I have ever encountered and is one of the most brilliant minds. He cares so much about what he teaches and you can tell through his lectures. He loves the word "provocative" and uses it when things are very much not, which just makes me love him more. All quizzes and exams are on Moodle.
I absolutely love Ed!!! He is by far one of the best professors at lsu, the class is very easy and you do not need to show up for class every time. Practice exams are the same as the real ones and are taken during the weekend. He can sometimes go off on tangents but only because you can tell how much he loves what he teaches!
Ed Laws is such an amazing professor. Quiz once a week based on his lecture. His lectures are long but he does say what will be on the quizzes during the lecture. He opens his tests for a long period of time. Super easy class. He has an obsession with China so get ready to hear a lot about China.
I love this man. He is an amazing professor with easy online quizzes and tests. Easy credit and a fun class. Just do the quizzes and tests and you'll pass fo sho.
Great person! The teaching style isn't for everyone. Every class has long lectures that aren't very lively, and there are quizzes every week, but it helps pad grading a lot.
lectures are just straight from textbook, so pretty boring! But really good professor with quizzes and tests that are covered by lecture! take notes, bring a friend to class just find a way to stay focused cause it is not obvious which info given will be quizzed on.
Overall a good professor, attendance isn't mandatory but you will not be able to understand the slides he posts without going. He gives a quiz every Friday that's based on the things he talks about in class. All quizzes, tests, and finals are online.
Great professor. Easy A class. Attendance not mandatory.
Laws is great and attendance isn't mandatory. One quiz per week and his exams are on Moodle. You really have to try to do badly in this class. I never go to the in-person lectures, however, I hear that they are interesting but long. Great class to take if you need the credit.
So easy, attendance not mandatory. Occasional quizzes and tests.
An easy A class, weekly quizzes and three exams make up the course. His lectures can be boring at time but you can tell he loves what he is doing.
basically an online course, everything is on moodle including weekly quizzes and exams. Need to have time to commit to the assignments so they can be completed. other than that it is an easy A if you put in the time.
Everything is on Moodle. He is a super nice guy.
Don't need to go to class. Lectures are boring. you have a quiz every week but 5 questions and super easy.
Easiest class at LSU. Would recommend everyone to take it. Every assignment included exams are online. Just remember to take weekly quizzes and it's the easiest A. Super nice guy and responds to emails.
You do not need to go to class. There are no assignments except a quiz at the end of every week. His exams are long but easy.
Relatively easy gen ed, but he tends to ramble during lectures about things unrelated to the material.
blowoff class don't need to go super easy
Overall really good class! Super easy, attendance not mandatory. He's passionate about what he's teaching and lovesss China. All assignments are on Moodle. Would take again!
Chill guy. Everything is open note, open book, and on Moodle. 5-question quiz each week that he gives you the weekend to complete and then 2 exams and a final. Easy class and no need to even go to lectures.
Such a sweet guy. Attendance isn't mandatory, but I would go to class because he is so sweet. Everything is on Moodle. One open note quiz a week, and no quizzes on weeks with exams.
I dropped after the first session and moved to the online short session class. Note that for spring 2025, students are not required to test in the LSU testing center.
CORRECTION to last review: I dropped after the first session and moved to the online short session class. Note that for spring 2025, students are NOW required to test in the LSU testing center.
I didn't really enjoy him as a professor. While he is knowledgeable, his lectures were very boring. His slides have little text, so you must listen carefully, but his inflection makes him hard to understand. Tests and quizzes are open-book, but some answers weren't in the textbook, so you had to rely on the minimal notes you were able to take.
This man might be Lebron himself - extremely goated. All quizzes and exams on Moodle. Only downside is the quizzes are 5 minutes and only 5 questions, but he gives them out every week so you have a lot in the grade book. Loving every minute of this class.
Attendance is not mandatory. Tests are online. Weekly quizzes that are only 5 questions. Would definitely take this class again.
This professor is incredibly sweet and easy to understand and follow during the lecture. He also tells little jokes that you can laugh at as well.
Very kind and passionate. Easy A class, questions on exams are very straight forward and many quiz questions are exactly the same as exams.
This class was super easy ONLY because everything was pretty much just on Moodle, I'd say it would have been much much harder if it wasn't
He is a very kind professor, but the questions on quizzes and tests are so niche that it is hard to tell what is relevant. I found the few math concepts to be extremely hard to grasp, but this class is doable. The slides are long, and the pictures are rarely explained so if you don't go to class, it's hard to understand without the textbook.
Good class, all online, including the final and tests, the finals and tests have some pretty difficult questions in them for sure, though, and the final is worth 40% of your grade. As long as you stay on top of the weekly quizzes due at midnight every Sunday, you would have to genuinely try to fail this class.
Laws was a great professor. Our exams were supposed to be in Himes, but ended up being all online because he wanted us to be able to receive our grades immediately. He has weekly quizzes through Moodle.
You won't have to show up to class at all, but make sure you do each weekly quiz, and find a snapchat GC that has the answers ;)
He does not make you attend class. All of the quizzes and test are on Moodle. His only assignments are quizzes and tests.
you don't need to go
It is a very simple and essay class to start your freshman year off with I would 10/10 recommend.
take him soooo easy
A lot of information to try to retain from the slides he shows only for the quizzes to only be 5 questions. Attendance isn't mandatory but honestly I'd just go because he talks about the slides and just reading them you don't really get anything out of it. One failed assignment and your grade drops.
Very easy if you stay on top of quiz deadlines.
Really good Professor, would definitely recommend him. All his work is done on moodle.
Very interested and knowledgeable on what he teaches. Would do much better with an engaged class! Unfortunately, mine wasn't very interested, but it was clear he loved what he was teaching!
