Interesting guy. Wish he posted his overheads on Blackboard. Best when he facilitates discussion. Needs to project more when he is speaking or asking questions. Sit in the front, tough to hear him, when he lectures.
He's awesome. He's very easy going you can talk to him about anything. He gives you the short response prompt for test. So you kow what to expect. It's an easy class you can eat and drink in class and he won't give you a hard time!
The books for the class are very interesting, you actually want to read them!! The class is kick back and informative. He grades fair, offers X-tra credit, he jokes around too. This class was worth getting up for in the morning!!

THERE IS NO WAY ANYONE CAN FAIL HIS CLASS, HE GOES OVER THE QUESTION AND ANSWER FOR HIS MIDTERM AND THE FINAL IS A TAKE HOME ESSAY. WHEN IT COMES TO LECTURES HE'S NOT THAT INTRESTING, BUT WHEN IT'S TIME FOR MIDTERM OR FINAL HE TELLS YOU EXACTLY WHAT IS ON THE EXAMS. TAKE HIM I GOT AN A
If you fail this class you should not be a collage student. This class is so easy. He goes over everything before the test.
his lectures are kinda boring, but at times, very interesting and controversal... talk to him and he will like you... dont talk to him and he will still like you.. very flexible... take home exams and finals
He made me give my presentation standing on my head and then graded me down because I only spoke for five minutes.
If you come to class and take great notes you will do fine. Very EASY and very HELPFUL!! I would recomend that you take him for any LBST class that you can get him for.
Good ol' Maine....... He was a laid back, mellow funny guy. He hurts himself a lot. He wants u to leave the class having learned something.I liked him very much. He cancelled many classes but Im NOT complaining, easyeasyeasyeasy tests. If u fail his class fill out an application at McDonald's.
Hey, Dr. Maine is so great. I have had him for 3 classes now and will continue to look for him. He is so laid back and genuine not fake! Thanks Dr. Maine!
Great teacher and really easy course. Loved the lectures. Talks about beer alot and makes lectures fun....
Great Professor! Very nice and helpful. Tests are hard, do the reading. He is funny. At times can be boring, but can also have amazing debates and conversations.
Wonderful Professor! Take him for as many classes as possible!

Maine rocks! Take Maine for every LBST class possible. Laid back, great sense of humor, leads good class discussions. Best professor in LBST dept! A lot of reading, and mostly essay tests. Fair grader. 1 big paper & presentation in 300. Take home final!
Great Professor! I LOVE MAINE! He is so funny and laid back. BOTH tests were take home and you just have to reread your notes and answer the basic questions. He is such a great guy! You don't really have to read either. He goes through the main points in class. If you are there every time and take notes, you will pass. He MAKES everyone pass!
Very nice. Very understanding when it comes to personal problems at home. He wants students to participate in discussions, not mandatory though. Books were easy to read and understand. Notes are a must. Quiz and tests easy. Final exam was a take home. Easy as well.
He was a very cool teacher and sometimes very funny. His quizzes are fairly easy, as long as you do the reading. There is a presentation but you can work in groups. The only thing is that you have to make sure you read ALL the books. There can be 6 presentations in one day, which means one book can be covered on that day. Keep up on reading!!!
He is helpfull, encouraging, fair,I was "Alice in Wonderland".He made the class to say the least, interesting, and used his high level of creativity and culture to bring the student to his level, in such a elegant manner! Take his classes.
Does not look like it, but Dr. Maine is a very well-read man. Easy going, and easy work. Maine understands the difficulty of having 302A and 301 so he makes 300 easy. A must take imo.
Great Books Senior Seminar. Prof. Maine is a great teacher, very laid back. Loves to have discussions in class. Short readings each week and two presentations during the semester.
Easy Class. Easy presentations, outline a chapter and talk about it for 10mi.Get the book, don't have to read them just need to find the answers to the study guide that he gives you for every test. No way people should be putting anything lower than "5"s across the board for Maine. 2 less than perfect ratings below out 50 good ratings = two idiots.
I had a lot of fun in his class, but please "keep the whip cream in the can." (Inside Joke) LOL Anyways, we had fun in this senior seminar and we did two presentations and response questions, we had interesting topics on Science in Literature.
What an amazing teacher! He is awesome he teaches you about liberal studies, makes it fun and somewhat easy, he is laid back but you will learn so much in his class. His class was fun, interesting you read like 4-5 books, they are easy readers.I cant wait to take another class with him! For some reason he fascinates me and he is a wonderful teacher
LOVE THIS TEACHER!! He is amazing. He grades very easy, and keeps you totally entertained. Seriously, take this teacher! He is probably the coolest teacher I have had. Study guides are easy, and you can use a notecard. This teacher makes a seeminly boring class, interesting.
He is amazing, my favorite teacher.. he wants you to get a good grade in his class and it is easy to if u study
easy class his quiz questions are a joke
Teacher talkes alot. u can fall asleep and he wont care. Quizes are really easy. attendance is not mandatory. Grade is mostly based on 2 essays and a presentaion. he's an easy grader. Easy class.
Maine is a dream. He loves class discussions so just make sure to add your 2 cents at least once per discussion. Not just amazing professor but amazing PERSON!! Very laid back and understanding! I LOVE MAINE! YOU'D BE A FOOL NOT TO TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!
It's a shame the class was very big and impersonal. He tries to start up a class discussion, but he usually just lectures about the assigned reading from the night before. I don't suggest the class if you don't care for his input on the lit we read. Otherwise he sounds passionate, but he needs participation to make the class more fun.
Maine is awesome! He's passionate about the material, nice, and willing to answer all of your questions! This is a pretty easy class. Take notes and listen in class, it will help! Attendance is not mandatory. Allowed cheat sheets on quizzes and gave out study guides; total of 4 quizzes. Class is out of 100 points (25pts each quiz). HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Nice guy, easy class. Don't necesarrily have to read all the books he assigns. Lectures all class about readings. Four quizzes. 25 points. 3 essay questions for each quiz, you get cheat sheet. SUPER EASY CLASS
Maine is a very interesting professor. He's passionate about what he teaches, but there seems to be a lack of participation within the class. The quizzes are fairly easy since he allows cheat sheets and provides study guides.Do him a favor and participate in class discussions.
Dr. Maine is awesome. The class is really laid back and pretty easy actually. There are 2 midterms which consist of 3 essay questions that you know beforehand (he lets you use a notecard), and a take home final that is 3 essay questions totaling 5 pages. Take Dr. Maine if you want to learn some cool stuff and have an easy GE course.
Maine is an awesome professor! He is hilarious in his own awkward way. His tests are super easy, he lets you know exactly what's going to be on the test, and he allows you to use a index card as a cheat sheet! I highly recommend him if your classes are super crazy and you need a chill easy class, TAKE HIM!
Maine is the best! I've taken him for four classes and he is by far the most amazing and understanding and passionate professor! Very laid back and easy and he makes topics interesting. If you want to pass a class then take it with him. Did I mention he was AMAZING??
Dr. Maine is very nice and understanding if you have a situation with your work. Class is very easy if you study the questions he gives you before hand. Easy A
Maine's class, overall, is very easy. You can tell he is very passionate about what he teaches. Honestly, you do not have to attend his class. Just make sure you study and use the textbooks. His lectures are a bit dull but its funny when he laughs at his own jokes. His tests are not long and he lets you use a cheat sheet. There is also a term paper
Maine is cool and funny. The class is easy. Grade is based 4 tests, and study guides are provided and great study tools. You should read the books but they're short. EC opportunities too. Good class, highly recommend!
Great professor! He has an interest in the subject and is motivated to teach his students and get them interested in the topic. However, there is a lot of reading but nothing that isn't manageable. Always answers students' questions and likes discussions. Everything is based on 4 exams and lots of videos!
i really enjoyed this class, i love professor maine especially when he shows the movie about the gorilla, exams are easy since he lets you use a indexcard, and he gives you the study guide a week before the exam, you do need all the books! i only read a lil and got a A- also do the ec its really easy TAKE THIS CLASS
Professor Maine is a pretty interesting guy. The class is largely discussion-based, so don't be afraid to express your opinion--if you do, Maine will love you. The class is out of 100 points, he gives a few EC opportunities, allows a notecard for each exam. Attendance isn't mandatory, but I highly recommend it...exams are based off of discussions.
Professor Maine is the best and most interesting teacher I have ever taken. The lectures are actually extremely interesting when you listen. Few cool videos too. He gives you study guides and lets you use note cards during the exam. Plenty of extra credit opportunities. Easy A.
Dr. Maine was an outstanding professor. He made the class quite interesting. He is quite helpful with any questions that you ask of him. Also he email response time is quite fast compared to most other professors. Overall, a very enjoyably class. If you have the chance, definitely take one of his classes.
Great professor. The subject material isn't something I'm passionate about, but it's actually quite interesting if you pay attention. Class attendance is NOT mandatory and tests and essays are 100% based off the reading, so all you have to do is read and it's an easy A. Also, many EC opportunities, you could almost pass the class on EC alone!
EASYYY class and books are cheap, 1 or 2 of them were available online for free. 5 essay tests and 5 papers [tho for my class he cancelled the last 2 papers] does not take attendance and admits to being rather boring but an easy grader. he started off the term saying we would do group work, but other than first 2 weeks, we didn't. easy&nice
Professor Maine is an awesome teacher. He's laid back, clear in what he teaches, very helpful, and actually makes the subject matter interesting. Highly recommended.
Professor Maine is DOPE! He gives you all the material you need to know for the test, all you have to do is go to class and take notes. I didn't buy any f=of the books that were required and still got an A. If you take this class, take this professor!
Professor Maine's class was easy yet interesting. Going to class wasn't mandatory, but it's helpful since the notes you take in class are what's most likely gonna be on the test. He basically tells you what will be on the test. Made the topics interesting. Gives E.C. opportunity. Take his class!!
Really chill professor. Attendance not mandatory but he lectures in class. I never read the books but payed attention in class where he tells you everything you need to know. Put in some effort and you'll get an A.
He tells you everything that is on the test, if you take notes and don't read you will still do fine. You turn in an essay on the test day (5 tests)and they are about 2 pages each. I fell asleep in his class once, the wall was a nice pillow, i don't know why but his voice was the kind that put me to sleep. I still recommend him, he is awesome!
Maine is great! If you have the chance DEFINITELY TAKE HIM! Go to class, take notes and you'll be fine. Got an A & didn't ever read the books. Essays are fun to write, believe it or not- mostly opinioned, except 1 (which I didn't do). As he announces later, final is take-home. 30pt EC available, and could be for going to theater shows! He's funny 2
easy class! if you need some extra GE credits take him. Not a lot of notes, but he tells you to, write everything down. The class is pretty interesting. There's supposed to be 16 journals and quizes but he cancells a lot of them. Hes funny, and a really nice guy. A lot of extra credit is availabe. TAKE THE CLASS! :)
Edward is the man! Easiest class I have taken in college. I went to class and never paid attention and received an A. Everything is opinion based so if you can present a strong opinion there is no reason not to get an A. I never took any notes because it would all be common sense. Take this class if you want an A and not to learn anything.
Maine is easy. 3 short books you can read, i never read and still did pretty well on the weekly quizzes. Come to class, take notes if you want, doesn't really matter. Its an easy class and you will get an A, or B if you put in a little effort. about 12 journals over the year. NO FINAL! Journals are opinionated so its easy, just write a lot. EASY!
Really quirky, silly kind of guy. I feel sorry for him sometimes because the class is just so disinterested and never responds, but he's honestly a good guy plus he's incredibly easy. I didn't buy any of the books(except one for the journals) and got an A based on lectures. No final, easy weekly quizzes, lots of extra credit. DO the extra credit!
Dr. Maine has to be one of my favorite professors I have taken so far, honestly take this class if you need a GE. Show up to class, listen and write down what he says and you will pass the weekly quizzes. Do the extra credit and put thought into your journal, it'll be an easy class.
He is seriously the best professor I have had at CSUF. This will be the easiest class that you take. He's super nice, he's really chill and laid back. Easy A
Very easy. Final exam is optional.
Very nice and easy going. Attendance is not mandatory, but definitely go because his lectures usually go over everything that is going to be on the weekly quizzes. Also, he does not let you make up the quizzes. A few journal entries based on your opinion, and that's it! He even offers extra credit. Great professor, very interesting.
Excellent professor, it's easy like the other reviews say if you do the work. As long as you keep up with the reading every week you should get an A. Professor knows the material very well and presents in a great way.
Class is super easy. He has weekly quizzes so it is important to pay attention during lecture. Reading will help with the quizzes but doesn't seem mandatory. No exams and an optional paper. Does have a few 2 page journals, but they are super easy! If you want an easy A this is the class for you.
He is such a cool dude he is really into what he teaches! Just read the books and you'll do fine on the quizes! No final or midterm! Easy a! I would take him again!
He is the most laid back guy ever! We never stay the full class session. Always out early. Quiz once a week and 6 mini one-page essays throughout the semester. Accepts late work and gives extra credit opportunities. Super easy. Nice guy. Easy gen ed class. Class requires 4 short books but you dont really need to read them. Just scan. No final.
Prof. Maine is such an easy professor. I got an A in his class all because of extra credits. His class consist of 6 essays and weekly quizzes. The lowest grade u can get on the quiz is a 5/10. No midterms or finals! Even if u fail all of the quizzes, u should pass his class as long as u do all the extra credits and he offers lots of extra credits.
Class is pretty boring. There are no tests, but quizzes every week. What counts the most for your grade are essays. 5 short essays for the midterm and 5 for the final. He can ramble a lot during his 'lecture', but he writes important stuff on the board.
Prof. Maine is AMAZING! He is such a great guy and is really helpful & funny. Lots of books but they're not bad. You have a quiz each week on readings. Get out of class early a lot. Easy extra credit opportunities. Take home midterm and final! 5 super short and easy essays due in small batches. Get to know him, he's really cool!
Easy class. He gives weekly quizzes based on the novels but they're not that bad. There are two sets of essays; each essay needs to be 2 pgs only. Midterm and final are take home. The lectures are sometimes boring. He's a nice guy also; gives a lot of extra credit!
Professor Maine is super nice! All you do is really read a series of novels (very interesting novels) and take short quizzes. Midterm is a take home and the Final was optional. He gives out a TON of extra credit. Good Professor, easy class.
Dr. Maine is an awesome professor and is really super nice overall. Almost weekly quizzes and have one day with lecture and one day with small groups if signed up for 2 days a week class. The midterm has 5 questions half a page each and 3 essay questions 2 pages each. Final is optional. I would highly recommend taking this class again for easy A
Weekly quizzes and group discussion on books, midterm is take home (3 essays, 3 questions that have to be 2 pg long), final was optional and shorter than midterm, tons of extra credit , changes assignmentssyllabus often so its a little hard to stay on track if you don't go to class or ask. Easy A
This class was relaxing as it only had lecture once a week and the next meeting was a group discussion and quiz. He is a very nice professor he keeps you up to date with your grade and makes it a good environment to meet new people ! If you do the extra credit you will for sure pass !!
A quiz every week (mostly), containing mostly TF. People say don't read the book.. but in reality, you DO have to since it WILL be on the quiz, unless you want to guess your answers.. Get as much extra credit you can get from this class, trust!! No final, just quizzes and 2 sets of essay that are 1-2pages!! The class isn't that bad, pretty relaxin
So you have to options depending on how you like school. Either read the book and show up for quizzes, or don't read the book and show up each day to listen to his lecture which is identical to the book. Didn't have class the first 3 weeks, and he is extremely helpful and flexible w problems.
Professor Maine is really nice. He makes the class easy all you have to do is read chapters from a book. The quizzes he gives are easy as long as you read the book. He lectures on the chapters to make sure you understand so sometimes you don't even have to read. Really chill professor.
He is so nice and funny! Absolutely loved his class! You meet once a week and have to read a small section and once in a while do a one page paper of the reading and one small quiz when you meet in class; which sometimes end up as group quizzes. Really easy and wants you to do good! definitely would take his class again!
He makes showing up to class not feel like a chore. He discusses the readings fairly in depth so if you show up and pay attention or take notes the actual reading load is fairly light. Three questions requiring 1-3 page responses for tests, and a presentation to end the semester. Will be taking more classes with him. Definitely recommend.
Great professor! Lectures were not super long and assignments were straight forward. There are weekly quizzes, just read the chapters he assigns, and a few small group discussions for participation points. 3 short essays for mid-term and 4 short answer for final exam. This class was interesting and I definitely recommend taking it!
This man will make the class easy for you. All there is in the class in a midterm and an optional final (this happened for our class but could happen). Also there are weekly quizzes and some responses to the readings. The only thing he's picky about is the grammar on the paper. He does give lots of extra credit opportunities.
He was hilarious, super laid back, and a very easy grader. There are many books that we read in this class so expect that. If you read the books, you'll pass with an A. If you don't read the books, the class is a very easy B. He is very understanding and fair.
He is a very easy going professor and really knows what he is talking about. Weekly quizzes and usually a 3 paragraph essay due the day of the class. He is very helpful and only has one midterm that is easy if you follow along w the reading and his powerpoints. Didn't necessarily need the books.
Sweetest dude you'll ever meet. Read the powerpoints before weekly quiz and you'll be set. Listen in class because he talks about what will be on the quiz (which is taken at the end of class). He offers super easy extra credit and definitely do a few and you'll get an A. Final was optional, midterm was easy. Take Ed, you wont regret.
TAKE THIS CLASS! Pay attention to his lectures. Don't need to read the book just go over the power points and go to class.
There are pop quizzes each day you go to class. You only go to class once a week (ignore the hybrid course, he does not do it). Read the chapters he assigns and you will get an A. Read his powerpoints online. Optional final, two midterms, and extra credit opportunities. Nice guy as well. Take this class for Gen Ed!
Dr. Maine is a very lax teacher. However, he is still a somewhat tough grader. The class included: one test in class, one that we could bring notes to, a take home test, and an optional final. There is also a project presentation in which you can choose the topic. He does not take roll, but make sure you come to class! Some lectures are on test!
This course was actually pretty interesting. There are a few books you have to read but you can just read online summaries and be fine. My class only met once a week and there were weekly quizzes. He lectures before the quiz so just pay attention and you'll be fine. Multiple choice, T/F, and some short answers. 2 midterms and an optional final.
This was one of the easiest courses I've ever taken. I didn't read any of the books assigned and finished with an A. He lets you make up any missed assignments and the final was optional. He was a funny and nice teacher. I recommend this class to fulfill the G.E it covers, you don't learn much, but you get credit!!
Professor Maine is a very caring professor. His class is straight-forward. He gives out quizzes weekly which are pretty easy and are based on the assigned readings. There are 2 midterms and an optional final. Be sure to ignore the "hybrid" part if you take his class because it isn't an online class. You just meet in class weekly.
Lbst 100 is so boring you learn about darwism and stuff. Your read about 3 books, it's really boring and confusing to read! You have pop quizzes every other week. The midterms are really confusing. If you study really hard then you'll get an A but his class is so boring it makes you want to slack off since he's so laid back and chill.
Professor Maine's 100 class was a pleasure to be in! He is super caring and really wants all of his students to pass his class. He is passionate about what he is teaching and his lectures pretty much go over what the weekly quizzes will be about. I used his power points to study before class, but didn't read the books and got an A! Take this class!
This class was really easy. It was supposed to be a hybrid course, but Maine doesn't really do much on the internet, so the online portion was just slides of notes. Assignments are easy, just as long as you read. You don't even have to read everything really thoroughly, summaries will do. Straightforward grader and is good at responding to email.
Easy class if you don't mind reading 4 books. First 2 books can be a little confusing but attending lecture helps clear things up. Chill guy just do your reading and participate!! Feel bad for the guy, no one would participate. He's cool though listen to his lectures they help on quizzes.
This class was boring BUT professor Maine would make interesting points during lecture. He mentions three books that you "need" to buy, but he always discusses the readings and even makes a power point that is available on Titanium. Exams are short essay questions. TAKE HIM
I absolutely loved taking this class. There is a LOT of reading, but assignments are usually just one to two paragraphs per week. Really amazing lectures. A super nice professor. I definitely recommend him! :)
Outstanding professor and interestings topics from the readings! 2 in person essay questions exams, group presentation, a final paper, and a few quizzes here and there. Show up because he explains the topics from the books thoroughly and he is literally the kindest/passionate professor out there.
Take him. Had few assignments, but we did have a book to read every month or so, and would get one easy quiz on what we read. Lectures would be on the chapters for that week. Super easy going guy, readings and lectures were interesting and quizzes weren't hard. No midterm or final, just quiz on what we had to read. Readings were interesting too
This has been one of my favorite professors. He made the class very enjoyable/engaging, wanted to see students do well. A few required texts all can be found for free online. Homework assignments will help with the exams. if you show up and pay attention you will be able to do well in the class. One final presentation on any liberal studies topic.
Professor Maine is such a cool dude and probably one of the easiest/ best professors I've had at CSUF. There's three exams (two short answers and multiple choice) and a presentation at the end of the semester. He is such a lenient grader and cancels class pretty often. Lectures can be long but the easiness of the class makes up for it.
Reading heavy class. However, you can get away with not reading. He does not use canvas, nor does he use PowerPoints to lecture. All he does is talk. If you don't read, just take notes of everything he says. Take home exams. No homework, only reading. You only know your grade when he gives back exams. Great guy though, pretty funny sometimes.
i have taken him twice and he never disappoints, king is so chill and easy. 3 exams (cheat sheet allowed), for the writing portion of the exam he makes it a take home sometimes or tells you what they are going to be about. gives study guide and goes over it. he leaves you prepared.
