The man is excited about astronomy, but that's about the only good thing about his class. It consisted of many extremely long and pointless homework assignments that have nothing to do with what we're learning. All of his exams and homework were confusing and had many misspellings and typos, which made it even harder to understand him.

What? Who cares how he dresses?; there are better issues to discuss, like the fact that he makes all of us in the class want to pull our hair out and I'm shocked that he is teaching! He is all over the place, unorganized, useless, he can't explain anything, and all he does is play games on his computer, which would explain why he is not prepared.

This dude cracks me up in his online lectures and even provides some "words of wisdom" (which can be skipped, obviously, but they're honestly worth the listen). He keeps it interesting, and responds pretty quickly if you have anything to ask. I would recommend watching the lectures back-to-back, as it sets the vibe and is very easy to remember.

Rhoads is meh. Needs to give more time for the midterms because most professors give 1 hour. Answering almost 50 questions in the span of 30 minutes is not possible without guessing most of them. He did add a bit of material that wasn't in lectures, readings, etc. which was annoying so be ready for that.

With his online class, you have three tasks for the semester. Watch the lectures, take the lecture quizzes, take the tests. If you do those things, it would be very hard not to get an A or B in the class. You won't need the textbook that is in the syllabus. He does limit time on the exams so don't try to cheat, or you will run out of time.

It's not hard if you pay attention and you do it at your own leisure. The only thing I disliked about his class was that it was all graded by quizzes, which can hurt your grade bad if you don't do good on them even if you read all the material. The way he has things set up made me disinterested in astronomy; be best to look for another professor.

Really wished I looked on here before choosing this class. Rhoads is just another professor who uses regurgitated material for lectures and often puts extra stuff in the quizzes that weren't discussed. The sample questions didn't really help either. And yes, the tests are timed quickly and I couldn't even answer them all.

I took this class online, and it was probably the easiest class ever. Just make sure to watch the lecture videos and take notes. All the answers were stuff he said in the videos so those who say they aren't were just not paying attention. The book is absolutely not needed. Didn't use it once and still aced the tests.

Pretty typical stuff for an online course BUT OH the tests with the short time limit are terrible. Even if you PAY ATTENTION and watch the lectures having a class just graded by tests and quizzes is bad and sets you up for failure.

He's not the worst professor I've seen but the way he has things set up for this class made it a negative experience. He really drones on in these lectures and gets off-topic easily. Time is essential and students have other work to do. The group work was confusing and the study guides didn't help much for the exams. Didn't really enjoy this class.

Easy class, I liked the topics but I really did not like the 5-question quiz thing. Guy kinda does the bare minimum for this class so its hit or miss. I liked that he omits tests or quizzes from your grade if you do poorly on them. He frequently did not put the same material in graded work & be great if he had discussion posts

did not really enjoy his class and it did not feel as engaging as I'd hoped it be. The subject was interesting enough but the professor does not communicate much. Long lectures with unrelated study material and graded mostly by the quizzes, exams. The experience and work feel so wasted here which is disappointing and no feedback from work.

His assignments were so confusing and I feel like he didn't know what he was doing half of the time with this work either (likely copied from other teachers). Vague answers, vague questions and vague email responses. Ok dude but overall a bad professor and won't be taking anything with his name in it next time.

I took this class since it's required but I still have no idea what I learned in this class. He just let us take 7 quizzes and a test at our own pace but there was no really good review or lectures to watch. Basically, you need to have knowledge of Stars and Galaxies in order to pass this class.

Rhoads is a sweet guy, he tries his best to make lectures enjoyable, but his lectures were long and convoluted. For being a test and quiz heavy class, most lectures were very long and didn't cover what was on the test, making them a huge waste of your time. Rhoads exudes passion for astronomy, but he needs to understand how to clearly communicate.

This class was insane. The lectures were so long and split into at least 4 parts. He talks so fast so forget about taking notes. Also the tests are impossible because no matter how hard you study for them you only get 30 minutes to take a test with almost 50 questions. He said that he does that so nobody can cheat... like really.. so unnecessary!

You have to push through boring videos and pay attention since anything from them may show up on the test. This course is easy though as long as you take notes and try to understand the material. He drops your lowest test score and 5 quizzes so its not hard to do well in this class. You do not have to buy the textbook. Save your money.

If you watch the lectures and take notes you should be able to do decently on the test, but still, it was ridiculous. A lot of the questions he asks are OPINIONS.

What world does this professor live in to make students answer 48 questions in 30 minutes? It's honestly absurd considering the fact that most of the test question topics weren't discussed in lecture adding onto the stress of the time limit. Also in lecture videos, he just talks about random things that do not help the learning of the topic.

Wastes a lot of time with "Words of Wisdom" - which are capitalist word vomit talking about business opportunities. Oftentimes the majority of a lecture will be taken up by this talk. Frequently does not include all required material in his lectures. It is very much 3/4 of a business class and 1/4 actual astronomy. Otherwise, a very easy class.

Lectures typically only ran for 30 minutes and then he'd end class early. you get points just for going to class and turning in the attendance sheet. The only real work you'll have to do in this class are the group assignments and if you take his in-person class he will help you work through it to get the right answer.

He is one of the better professors I've had. This was an online class, so he reused lectures, but they were easy to understand and interesting. His midterms are a little tough, 30 minutes for 45 questions. But, if you know most of the material, you will be just fine. There is also extra credit on them, and you can drop the lowest one.

Not sure why people hate words of wisdom; they're pretty fun to hear and listen to. Also, ignore those who say he doesn't teach or the questions on the lecture weren't in the test; they were there. If you didn't get the grade you wanted, then that's on you unless you had a valid reason. Many people talking down on him here have invalid reasons.
