Ed Rocks!
Ed reminds me of Bevis and Bevis was hot! Thanks for the A, Ed!
One of the coolest teachers here.
Ed's my hero! He's a great professor. Everyone professor should be like Ed!
Cool guy. Easy class!
what a cutie
Ed was a great prof. He wasn't bad looking either. He was very clear and helpful. He also liked to joke around.
horrible teacher, extremely easy, but so boring I slept through class every single day. doesn't know anything, has to look in the book for answers constantly.
Ed is the coolest, yo.
so easy, only 14 pages of notes for the semester and only 3 tests that are curved, and cancels class everyone once in a while
This guy's a hoot! VERY easy A. Talks with his eyes closed most of the time unless he's looking up at the ceiling; he cracks himself up! Don't be surprised if you see him at the bars and he offers you a drink - take it and chat it up... you WILL get an A!
AWESOME PROFESSOR! I would have to say this was the most laid back class I have taken here at WSU and I actually did learn a lot about philosophy. WISE DEEP THINKING PEOPLE!!!! your the man ED!
very cool teacher, laid back and grades with nice curves, really uses interesting examples to keep class not boring
If you want an easy grade with not much effort, Ed's your guy.
The first test....78% and up was an A...everything else was a B. Great guy.
He's a nice guy and is very laid back. If you're looking for a super structured class that is really challenging, you should probably take someone else. Half the time it doesn't even seem like a class, it just seems like we're hanging out having a deep conversation. He also cancels class a lot.
Easiest class ever!! Doesn't have class half the time. Basically show up for the tests and u have an A!!!
The easiest class you could possibly take! I've attended class everytime he has cancelled class half the time! Only 3 tests all semester and he sets a curve for each one of them! Highly recomend taking this class!
cancels class 1/2 the time, nice guy, kinda confusing, boring lectures, only 3tests but HUGE curves, chance to write a paper to replace a test..if u do it u get an A..overall, easy.
Great Class if you are interested in Phil. HE makes you think about things. Lots of interesting readings. Class is only fun if students are willing to add to conversations.
Very easy class and interesting. I would reccommend this if you need a university study to be filled. Cancels class from time to time and helps you review before his curved tests. He's a fun guy too.
EASY CLASS! Only 3 Assignments, no tests!!
He is very nice, but he stumbles over his words and most of the time I have no idea what he's talking about. Interesting class, but makes you think deep and if you can't, you're screwed. Good class, but hard tests.
ummm... likes to laugh at himself, makes me laugh when he does, but he is a good prof. knows his stuff... and tests are not that bad, he is very laid back
Awesome. First class that makes you THINK about things, not just facts, but WHAT IF's , much better than the usual class at WSU. i have him for 240 next sem.
wow, such an easy class, take it for an easy humanities credit.
I already have gradutated and he was the one professor that I still remember. I was never really interested in philosphy other than as a casual study until his class and he opened up my mind. He was the best professor I had.
mr slowik is usually a few minutes late to class but sometimes he doesnt even come at all. its pretty fun. see ya
The class can sometimes feel really long, but he makes it interesting and is really kind. He loves hearing his students opinions. He is usually late to class, and he likes to laugh about things you wouldn't even think about laughing at, which makes it more fun!
HORRIBLE CLASS. TOTAL waste of your time. You will spend hours studying and taking the damn tests and get absolutely NOTHING out of the course!!! I am a senior and this has been by far the WORST class I have ever taken at WSU. Take my advice--steer clear.
Probably one of the smartest professors at WSU, can get a little ahead of the class sometimes in his lectures, but he's always willing to help out.
Slowik is a nice guy. Not his fault he was confused so much...this class is stupid. I'd rather take it with Slowik than Possin ANY DAY! Best advice is that you should seriously take it Pass/No Pass...trust me on that one.
He is not very helpful or clear but he doesnt need to be since class is held once a month and all you do is watch movies. if you fail the test no worries, the grades on the papers are only for show you all get A's
He was really really nice, and understanding. A very encouraging professor. He likes you even better if you make an effort to talk to him! I skipped class all the time and my grades were good.
great guy! very friendly, class is a lot of fun, he encourages you to participate in the discussions. just show up and copy the notes, tests arent any trouble. if you're looking to fill a humanities requirement, this is your guy.
This guy is a great. stop hateing on him. he is cool and dwon to earth and he loves his students!!!
he's a great teacher all u guys righting bad comments here should be ashamed because mayb u guys were just too dull to pass the easiest class of all times, despite u had one of the best teachers in the profession teaching it.
GREAT TEACHER : ) Explains the notes and cancels class sometimes! Don't listen to the other bad comments, he's great. Very easy to ask questions to, he's open with discussion. Good grader, the tests aren't bad...you can always write a paper at the end of the term if you need to replace the grade, in fact I just did it.
I thoroughly enjoyed class with slowik... he was very flexible and always asked questions to see if we understood. he would tell us what was on the test and the tests werent too bad.. he had a big curve for them all and also could write a paper if you bombed a test. definately take him if you can
Slowik's class is pretty easy; in fact you don't even have to read the lengthy textbook. He tells you to study right from your notes, and thats exactly where his tests come from. He's a good professor, rambles on a bit, but good. I suggest you take him if you need an easier class.
Slowik mumbles a lot and never makes eye contact, makes him seem crazy. Usually shows up late to class and lets you out early. Tests are difficult, you better know your stuff. Lets you rewrite your essays on exams since he grades so difficult. Pretty boring and hard to understand. My first time with PHIL and now I hate it. Do not recommend...
Super nice guy. Very laid back. Easy class. The tests are straight off of the notes; no need to read the book.
I've had him for two classes. In both he is laid back. Write papers to show your comprehension and you get an A. You can rewrite papers and the tests are essay tests. Not a lot of work besides that. But he mumbles and isnt very good at lecturing.
Slowik is awesome! I would definitely recommend talking to him outside of class during office hours because you can get in some really interesting discussions. His classes are pretty easy and you get out early a lot!
Easiest teacher ever. Class almost always got out early, however sitting through class was extremely boring and painful. Dont bother buying the textbook because you don't need it. First day of class he gives you all the notes for the whole semester, the tests are based right off those. Just memorize them and you're solid.
This class is so easy its a joke. If you are serious about Philosophy, take a higher level class. All you do is memorize his notes and take super easy tests. Its a whole lot nothing. I like Philosophy, but this wasnt thrilling. He seems very smart, and capable of teaching well, but not at this very INTRO level.
amazing teacher easy A
This guy is the shiz you get to re-due all his papers and tests if you want. He may be a genius but you will probably get nothing out of this class as he sits in front and mumbles the whole time but its a easy A
Easiest Class I've ever taken
Don't take this class if you are looking to actually learn something. Not a bad teacher, just does not expect anything from the students. Doesn't take attendance, no daily assignments, just 2 tests and 1 paper. Class is boring, could probably get away with never going to class and just reading the class notes he gives you. Easy A, though.
don't take this class if you don't have too. unless your really good at test. he gives all the notes online the first day of class so you do not need to go to class cause he reads from the notes for lecture. don't but the textbook cause you will never open it
Although he talks about the books constantly, I didn't open one all semester. 2 tests are taken straight from his notes he posts online, 2 papers are super easy if you dedicate a full day to writing them. He lets you rewrite them if you don't like your grade to. Never went to class because philosophy is over my head, but good teacher for sure!
Not sure who considered him hot but anyway most boring class every, hardly went, two "10 page papers" but test are fairly easy.
The easiest class I've ever taken. I didn't show up to class. I would study for exams for an hour before we took them and got A's. I was done with the class in mid September and already knew I had an A (grade was your top 3 test scores out of 4 total, I got A's on the first 3 tests so I didn't even have to take the 4th exam).
Easy easy easy. You read his notes and write 3 papers and 1 mid-term. I've never taken philo before and got an A just because i understood the concepts given. Only bad thing is the 10 page paper at the end. Crunch through that and its a breeze.
Not a philosophy major but both classes are a breeze. My advice is go to class listen to what he says and open that book and you will be fine.
His Lectures are really boring. However, the day before the midterm, he tells you everything that will be on the midterm so show up and you will do fine. You have to write three essays and they are long and tedious, however he is not a hard grader and you can redo essays to get a better grade. I didn't read the book, but I still got an A.
Slowik might be a good guy, but his lectures are incredibly drawn out and he doesn't prepare for classes before hand, he just reads straight out of the book to the class as a lecture. You can skip every class except the day before tests because he gives all the answers to the test and it'll be an easy A for anyone.
Slowik is a boring professor, but super nice to his students! He give 4 exams, they are tough so actually study. He curves them a lot for my class the curve was 83% and above was an A. DON'T BUY THE BOOK! Everything you need to know are on his notes online. He drops your lowest exam and if you do movie reviews he will bump up a test grade.
He is an awesome guy and loves what he teaches. He gives you all the notes and you study the notes for the test, you do not need to go to class, just show up on exam day and you will do fine. He drops lowest test score and if you write 3 movie reflections he will then take your next lowest test score and bump you up a grade. also always done early!
This is an overall easy class. Based on a midterm, a final, and a paper. He does reviews for the final and midterm that are very helpful and edits your paper a lot before you submit it. Easy A and somewhat interesting.
Class is based off 4 tests, he drops the lowest of he 4, and then as long as you do the extra credit he raises the next lowest up a letter grade. Fairly easy. Do not need to attend class.
This was a great class to take. Easy going, no drama, very clear on what you need to do. Just study the notes he provides. He drops your lowest test grade and gives you extra credit for writing some papers. I would definitely take another class with Professor Slowick.
Dont need textbook. This guy is such a bro. You don't need to show up for class. The notes he has are exactly what's on the test. Study a day or 2 before and you'll do great. Tests can be a little challenging but he drops and curves
If you get the chance take him. Nothing more to say.
Slowik is a great guy! He just sits at the front of the class and reads out of the book during class- honestly as long as you go to the classes before and after tests/papers are due you will be fine. He usually lectures the whole time and does post his notes online. Kind of un-prepared though.
Dr. Slowik is awesome! He's a super nice guy and is very knowledgeable. I really liked that his class was graded on 4 exams and the lowest grade was dropped. He offers extra credit and the exams are pretty straightforward.
Dr. Slowik is probably the chillest professor I've EVER had. He wants you to pass, and he'll help you to do so. Attendance is not mandatory, but you definitely need to read the book, take some notes, and do the homework. My only complaint that the lectures have been kind of boring, but I'll give him a pass on it.
He's the most adorable guy and he cares a lot about the content he teaches which makes it fun to listen to him in class.
Class and prof are boring. He clearly likes the content, but he doesn't present it well. He is unclear about his papers and exams. He comes into class 10 minutes late and just rants about the readings.
Love his class. This year was his first year teaching philosophy of religion in a while so we were the guinea pigs but he was very interested in the information and passionate about teaching it. He goes off on tangents often but he makes the content very clear and makes notes for you to go off of because the textbook can be confusing. Great teacher
He's a really nice guy and genuinely loves what he talks about, but he isn't very interesting at all.
Super easy going guy, really cares about his students. I never showed up for lecture and he has his notes online and a review before the exams and I went to those and aced the 2 tests. There's 2 papers, and he lets you turn them in as many times as you want until you have an A. He really wants his students to succeed and is a very nice guy.
easiest choice for a goal 6 class. I never show up and I get A's on all the papers. There's never homework, and theres 2 papers and 2 exams all semester. That's all that goes into the grade book. For the papers and exams, just study from his notes online and you'll be fine. he lets you re-turn in papers as many times as you want until you get an A.
Great Professor and has a passion about the subject. Very easy grader and understands that people have a life outside of class. The course has 4 assignments (two take home papers, one midterm paper and one final paper) and gives you enough time to complete each paper. Definitely take him.
Super easy class. Did not need to show up. Graded by 4 papers that he graded pretty easily. Can correct for full credit. Was a very nice guy and very helpful and passionate
Slowik is very passionate about Philosophy that that is easily seen. His classes tend to consist of 4, 4-page papers and that all that goes into the grade book. Attendance is not graded. This class is very easy and straight forward but you get really get to discuss during lectures.
Uhh.... Ed is one of a kind. He makes himself laugh, which makes me laugh. I find him to be one of the most adorable professors at WSU. Him and his little sweaters are just so darn cute. He is very intelligent, probably one of the smartest men you will ever meet. His classes are also very boring, probably the most boring class you will ever take.
This class is one of the easiest one's I have ever taken. I did it for a goal and it's an easy A. All you have to do is take two tests and write two papers and you can redo the essays if you get a bad grade. Would recommend.
EXCELLENT choice to get that math goal taken care of! No homework, attendance not required - he puts all his lecture notes online. Only 4 tests all semester and he grades on a generous curve and drops the lowest grade. Easiest class ever!
he is very easy to not show up or buy text books and get an A. clearly doesnt care much about teaching, reads out of the book and is just boring and uninspiring. shows up late most days. take classes with david or patrick if you want to actually do philosophy and learn something. take him for an easy A
Good professor, very mediocre.
This class was extremely disorganized. First of all, Professor Slowik was late almost every day of class. I'm not really sure how since his office is only 1 floor above our classroom, but it got really annoying. Class pace is very fast, so you're better off not showing up and just reading the book + doing exercises yourself.
I heard from other former students of WSU about this professor. They recommended taking his philosophy class. The professor is very caring, when I got B in my first exam, he gave a chance to do retake. During my time, he gave us three take-home exam and the submission for those exams was about 20 to 25 days. Must take phil 201 class to boost GPA.
Easy A no HW, often cancels class Dont buy the textbook I sit on my computer during class. If you study his reviews a day or 2 before the test you should get at least a B. gives great curves on grades. On tests if u dont know the answer pick the longest choice or its always all of the above. Has x credit paper u turn in till u get what u want
The grade for the class was made up of four test with lowest dropped at the end of the semester. Before each test he uploads a study guide that prepares you for the test accurately. He offers one extra credit opportunity. Super light work load and a great professor!
Slowik is a nice man but his classes are really boring. He doesn't check homework so it doesn't matter if you do it or not but it will set you back in terms of knowing your stuff for the exams. There's only four exams throughout the semester. This class you basically teach yourself.
His lectures are pretty boring tbh but he gives an excellent curve to the exams, one of which is dropped (lowest scored) and he does not assign homework!! Relatively easy class and expectations are clear.
Dr. Slowik was a good professor but he often was a few minutes late to class. He drops the lowest exam and if you complete the extra credit paper, he replaces the second lowest exam with the grade of the paper so it is easy to get an A. He also posts a review of all the information you need to know for exams.
If you study for the tests you will do great! He is a very nice man and his lectures are interesting.
I love this man. No attendance requirement but going regularly helps you understand. He's super chill and wants to hear what you have to say. He has a tendency to keep his eyes closed while speaking/thinking, so you may have to speak for him to call on you.I've taken three classes from him and will continue to take more.
This class was so boring. I had to take it for goal 6, and I managed, but he is very boring. He is knowledgable on the topic, but he goes so in depth and you have to memorize so much for the exams. Also you are only graded on exams and I am not the best exam taker. He does give some rounding for exams but its still pretty hard.
Only graded on 4 exams and one is dropped. Gives a review/study guide before every exam. Makes it very possible to pass the class. Very nice guy, offered a free pdf of the textbook to students if they didnt/couldnt purchase the textbook. I ended up not needing to use the textbook at all. Also posts the notes for each chapter.
Very sweet man, just a very hard subject. Multiple formats for the tests like multiple choice, free response or a paper. Has an amazing curve and you get your lowest test dropped. Plus, the next lowest one can be improved by writing a paper related to philosophy. If you want an A you'll get it. Just know the terms and the people and your set.
Professor Slowik's class is a mixed bag - lectures can be dull, but the light workload and generous grading curve make it manageable. Use Unstuck AI and the provided study guides to ace the exams. Attendance is a must, but skipping the textbook is fine.
easy A class. the material is a bit confusing but just study his study guides and you'll be fine. he curved an F on a test to a C for me without me even asking. he drops one of 4 tests. lectures are unhelpful and I never attend but had no problems passing.
Lectures are definitely not mandatory. The course consists of 4 things in the grade book, 2 papers, a midterm, and a final. Papers are very standard and you can redo them to score a whole letter grade better. Midterm was straightforward and was pretty much word for word from the study guide. Good guy, it seems like he loves what he teaches.
Cool guy, he is very knowledgeable and passionate. His lectures get a little bland (he just talks the entire class), but if you are able to learn with that teaching style, you'll do well. He provides class notes and study guides to make sure you know exactly what info to study to get an A+ on the tests.
this prof was so fking boring in his lectures but he's kinda funny and passionate even for a monotone person. he literally gives you the answers for the test in the class notes pdf so i got an a even when i skipped half the lectures. overall good prof
Kind professor who genuinely cares about philosophy and his students. Helpful notes and fair grading. This class works best for students who enjoy philosophy and writing.
