do you like to read? because you'll get 3 chapters a session assigned a day.
Great teacher, really wants you to understand, but he asks you to read waaaayyyy too much at one time. I've gone to talk to him before and he is really a nice guy, he just wants you to learn, and I think that's a rare quality in some profs here :)
Human Reproduction is a great class. He is a fun prof that wants you to learn and understand things. He gives out a quiz every week and there are only two tests. There is a big final presentation but it's fun to do.

Took his summer course. Excellent but full-time committment. If you want to go to graduate school or get a job, this is the professor you want. Clear, uses humor, always fair. Posts test keys immediately & you keep tests.
Yeah theres lots to read, but thats because of the subject, not Dr. T. He makes it easy as possible without dumbing down the class. Tests easy if you keep up in class, killers if you don't. Puts lots of helpfull stuff up on the web. Best prof at WSU
RUDE & MEAN! Stay away!
My advisor, great prof, and a great guy. Presents the material with clarity and in a lot of ways, humorous. One of the few profs that want you to actually learn the material. He has to be the prof that i have learned the most from.
it is a hard course, but he teaches it well.
He thinks he's funny..but he's NOT!
Cares about his students a lot. You probably think he's "rude" and "mean" because he expects a hell of a lot from you. If you don't expect as much from yourself, stay out of his classes so those of us that DO want to learn can take th
What a weird guy!!!!!!! Class is fairly simple but hard to stay awake, especially since he turns all lights off, and its 8am. Also, didn't let us know what grade we had until the week before finals.
Hard class. Too much stuff but very great professor. Just keep up with the reading and studying and you will do fine. Fall behind and your ass is grass.
He's a WEIRD....but is a good professor. He's way too strict with the report writing. He checks every single line in your report to see if there's pladgerism even if you cite the sources.
Dr. T is a good prof. He explains things very clearly and his tests are fair. I strongly recommend this teacher for this hard course. Just study a lot and take advantage of open lab. P.S he has an awesome tie selection!
BOOOOOOOOOOOO DO NOT TAKE HIM
Awsome Prof! I had him for anatomy and physilogy 1 and 2 this summer and it was a great class! He made it very interesting! His tests are very fair, he olny tested on what he taught. I would definitly recommend him for these two classes.
he is HARD try to get loin if you can!
Someone wrote awesome prof? I had him this summer for 1&2 and noone but knucklehead thought that he was awesome! He knows and loves his subject but I wouldn't say he was any better than a medicore teacher.
Very clear, tests are hard but stick to what he presents. Very helpful outside of class. Big problem: needs to realize that not all students want to spend their time studying and have other things going on in college.
Dr.Thompson always takes care of business, lectures are overly intense and involve way to many big terms and info! There are other professors that are much better about tests and are a lot easier!
His tests are extremely challenging. Although my hard work doesn't reflect my grade in that class, I have learned more in this class than I learned all through high school. I feel very prepared for Anatomy and Physiology two
If you put in your time you will get alot out of this class he will help you in any way but he just expects you put in the work too!!! Good Guy!!!
Very strict but fair. Tests are really hard but you learn a lot from him. Everything is on power points and he has online reviews. Good teacher overall.
Definetly not my favorite prof. He does know a lot of info. However he needs to realize that we are not all as smart as he is. Tests are extremely hard, study 4 hrs on end. Very informative class but also very overwhelming. Appears to me as a huge introvert w/0 people skills & not alot of help w/?'s
He's insane, has temper tantrums..and is so rude you wonder how he got the job
Not the easiest professor in the world but he wants you to do well but you need to put in the time. I learned more this semester than I learned through all 4 years of high school. If you are struggling get a tutor it will help!
Knows his biology, but he fails to grasp the concept that his students dont have a doctorate biology. Tests are hard, but w/ extreme dedication to studying hours on end, you can pass them. Lacks all people skills, and quite frankly is rude. If you want a life outside of class, dont take this prof.
RUDE! Arrogant. Terrible teacher, never keeps office hours. Most of the time he looks like he just tumbvled out of bed.
follow these two words to do well in his class, NOTE CARDS
I really liked his powerpoints. Its a easy way to understand the material. He repeats things so you can understand it more clearier. His tests werent hard if you studied the powerpoints. I enjoyed his class. He grades on a curve which helps you.
He isn't rude to students who keep up in class, but he is definitely not tolerant of laziness. Excellent help when students have questions, but he will not do your studying for you or steer you to shortcuts.
Lots of material and hard tests in lecture, but he explains it great. Really helpful with questions after class. Labs are much easier. One of favorite three profs (Ragsdale, Berg, Thompson) in Bio department.
Very rude, and doesn't seem to care at all about his students. If you have a question, make sure you have proof that you looked for it before wasting HIS time to ask him! After one test, he told us that if we had a question about it he would dock us points if it wasn't an "intelligent" one. #$%^&
be regualr to class and study the powerpoints for the exam. He also curves which is good. Easy B because class itself is hard.
Good at teaching and getting the point across. Tries to scare you out at first with big projects, but (especially towards the end when he's behind and on projects) he's an easy grader. Interesting class, and not too tough. Very knowledgable, so he doesn't put himself at the students status level.
Good teacher. Fair. Easy to understand
He is a VERY good professor. He knows his stuff and is VERY knowledgable. Very understanding and is willing to help you out regardless of your situation. However, be prepared. The class is tough and he does prepare you for it by saying it will be anything you didn't expect. So be prepared. He's thorough and diligent so the class will be easier.
Really good, keeps course interesting
Dr. Thompson's anatomy class is very interesting and he is a good professor. TO do well in the class all you have to do is go to class and review your notes. He also had a simple final which was pretty much all the old tests put into one.
Thompson thinks he is God's gift to Anatomy. He threatens you from day 1 about the class and how difficult it is. However, as long as you take good notes and study them, you can get an A. The tests are multiple choice and are ONLY on what is covered in lecture. Book is only used to help you understand the material. Curve is based on highest score.
lots of hard material needed to get into grad school but taught extremely well. very clear, lots of clinical stuff. really cares but does not tolerate lazyness.
The only ones who think hes 'rude' or 'uncaring' are the ones who dont want to do the work. This course is hard because it has to be to get into the nursing program. Dr T is an excellent teacher and really cares about students, but don't look for an 'easy' grade.
I really liked Dr. Thompson. Good professor. Very passionate about teaching and anatomy. Not hard just requires a lot of study time.
He's great. Works hard to help you learn. Extremely helpful with problems. Tests are difficult, but he tells you exactly what you need to study for them. Probably my favorite WSU teacher.
Excellent professor!!! One of my favorites. I love his teaching style. The way he presents the info makes it so easy to understand. The first biology teacher I've had here that's not a jerk :-)
he is by far the best a&p prof. he posts partial powerpoints(which are VERY helpful/well written/organized)to use for note taking.he actually teaches rather than just reading the powerpoints to you.he is very passionate about a&p so he really wants everyone to understand it & he is willing to help as much as possible as long as you put the time in.
Professor Thompson was great. Do not skip class, study his notes, read the chapters and you will do really well in his class. Very willing to help whenever you need it. I highly recommend this professor!
As long as you go to class and take notes on his powerpoints you should do fine. I found that making tons of notecards on all the stuff on the slides got me an A. I only used the book in lab and for reference. Study hard and pay attention after all it is a semester squeezed into 5 weeks.
Great Professor. Knows his material backwards. Its not the easiest class but he is crystal clear with what he expects. Minimal book use and I got an A. Just know his PP's by heart. I would highly reccommend.
Thompson is an OUTSTANDING professor if you want to learn anatomy. He makes his expectations clear, and he is the most helpful professor I have had in three years. Good students love him, lazy students just looking for a grade do not.
Best professor I've had in 5 years here. Will do anything to help you learn anatomy. Doesn't dumb down for lazt people. Learning the stuff Dr T presented is probably the biggest thing that got me into medical school!
I was so excited to take this class at the beginning to the semester but that quickly changed. His 12 quizzes are very difficult, they are almost like tests for some of them. End of the year project is bs, doesn't give clear instructions of what he wants. Avoid this class.
I was so enthusiastic about this class before I took it. His exams are impossible, the weekly quizzes ridiculous, and the final presentation pointless. He gives very little direction for what he wants, but grades extremely difficult. Plus, he's not a very nice or understanding person.
He's not too bad. He is not monotone like some profs. He has interesting insights on things. His tests were only 25 points each, multiple choice and fill in the blank. He is kind of a control freak though. He's pretty clear on what he expects. Overall, I would take him again, especially over Hiddinga
Really interesting class and professor. Lots of discussion. Made the biology easy & focussed on social policy issues. Thompson kept it interesting & fun, open to different opinions (unlike some like RR in that department).
Thomson definitely knows what he is talking about, but his test can be very outrageous. If you're going to take his course, make sure you know his powerpoints. He leaves some of the stuff blank so you can take notes along the way. If you're looking for an anatomy course with easier tests, I would suggest Garbrecht.
i enjoyed his teaching style...attendence wasnt required, but his powerpoints have blanks, so you have to go to fill them in. reading the chapter ahead of lecture recommended. I felt i learned more from his teaching style vs garbrecht
He was not very helpful when it came to homework. If you emailed him, he would respond with sarcastic, rude remarks about how we should already know the information. The tests were taken with a note sheet front and back but it had to be hand written. Class information was self explanatory but made "off track" comments and stories.
Kind of a hard class but more than half the class got As or Bs. 3 tests, 4 papers, 5 quizzes. Thompson expects a lot but explains things well and is very helpful with questions. Take this class if you want to learn nutrition but take HERS if you just need the credit.
Definitely recommend as a professor! Knows how to make A&P interesting and easier. Has a sense of humor. Show up, pay attention, do the assignments and you will be able to get a good grade
He was a terrible professor. He was not helpful at all and when you asked questions he would make you feel stupid. Make sure to read the textbook a ton before taking his class.
Hard class. Great professor. Clear lectures. Provides notes but you still have to take more. Makes sure everyone is keeping up
One of the best if you are going to nursing. Gives Pwrpnts ahead of time for notes. Posts review for each chapter. Tells you how to study to do well in A and P. Posts answer key right after each test and lets you keep questions. Tells you exactly what to expect for tests. A and P is hard but thompson makes it easy.
He goes on a lot of tangents that aren't relatable to the course. He admits when he is unsure of things but sometimes he needs to be corrected. ****HE GIVES A CHEAT SHEET FOR EXAMS.
LOVE DR. THOMPSON. Hilarious and very laid back. He may have some tough exams, but there is nothing on the exams he did not teach or have on his power points. Final exam is a cake walk if you review your previous exams, he repeats the same question but scrambles the answers.
Great class. Do the reading and studying and you will get an A.
He's very passionate about what he teaches. You have to show up to know what to study. He gives cheat sheets on all tests and just wants you to succeed. All power points are online. If you actually do the readings you'll do a lot better than those who don't. Always pay attention in lectures and you'll be completely fine.
Thompson is a really good professor, but you have to be willing to put in the time in order to get the grade you want.
Thompson is a really good professor, but you have to be willing to put in the time in order to get the grade you deserve.
This is such an amazing class, there are weekly quizzes (most are take home), weekly media summaries and only two exams. I love this class so much, I honestly wish there was another one similar to take.
A & P is a hard class, but if you put in the effort, Dr Thompson makes it doable. He is passionate and knowledgeable. He is great at his job and he allows cheat sheets. Pay attention, study, and show up and you should pass.
Thompson is a good professor. He explains things fairly fast in lecture and expects a lot out of his students. If you need help, he has office hours posted and will answer any question. Lecture exams are tough, very specific, but allows a cheat sheet. Lab exams are challenging. The final exam recycles some questions from past exams.
Thompson can be tough, but if you study and work hard you should get a good grade. He stresses reading the textbook, but you don't need to unless you don't understand the material. He tests can be tough, but if you go to S2I and get help if you don't understand something you will be fine. He curves grades too. I would recommend.
This class was fairly easy. You have weekly media summaries which are easy points, each Monday there is a quiz in class or a take home quiz on last weeks material, review before & it will be fine(sometimes you can use notes). Two big tests, midterm & final (you get a cheat sheet). Two big projects one group & one paper, but easy A's for those.
If you learn by notes and lecture, this is the class for you. Extra credit is not in his vocabulary. You are only graded upon tests and receive on homework assignments. If you have a question go in and ask him.
Thompson is a great professor! Prior to lecture, he likes to put up interesting stories pertaining A&P. He WILL MAKE YOU WORK FOR A GOOD GRADE. Be prepared, reading is a definite prior to class. Don't be afraid to ask him questions. If you serious about your future, you'll be happy you took him!
The lab exams are terrible. So hard. His tests are so hard you have to study for hours for it. He doesn't give extra credit at all so the grade you get is there to stay. You get a cheat sheet for every test but don't even do it since I would put all the notes on there and end up using it for two questions. READ THE BOOK and stud study study.
Thompson is a great guy, HOWEVER I would NOT recommend him as a professor. He is NOT clear at all when it comes to lectures and understanding the material. He is a very smart guy, but a horrible professor. READING IS A MUST BEFORE YOU COME TO CLASS. IF YOU DO NOT READ, DON'T EVEN BOTHER COMING TO CLASS.
Dr. Thompson is a decent guy but his class is the worst. The whole class is based off exams(no quizzes, E.C.). You still have to do the readings bc he threatens to give pop quizzes. The exams are HARD. I checked and out of 75 students he only has 3 A's in his class. I have a B in his class but I am telling you it's not worth taking A&P w/ this prof
Very rude and makes you feel dumb if you ask him questions.
Dr. Thompson wants everyone to succeed and makes that very clear. This is not an easy class though. It is based off of 4 exams and 1 cumulative final exam so each one counts. You have to work hard to do well, and if there is and S2I for the teacher go to it. Some days I like Thompson, other days I don't. I would take him again.
Hard teacher, work for it and you will succeed
Where do I even begin? THOMPSON IS THE WORST PROFESSOR SINCE THE DAWN OF UNIVERSITIES. Oh, sure you get a cheat sheet, but PLEASE DO NOT LET THAT LURE YOU IN. Most of what he puts on tests are not even in the notes. I copies all of the powerpoint slides onto my cheat sheet and none of it was on the test. He also makes you read an insane amount.
Dr. Thompson is tough. You need to have a very solid understanding of whatever he may test you on. S2I is the only reason I did well in this class. There are 4 course exams and one final, which are do-able, but not easy. I would recommend taking an easier professor if possible, but you do learn a LOT if you put forth the effort.
Dr. Thompson wants everyone to do well, and genuinely cares that you understand the material. He expects you to read the chapters in the book before he talks about them in lecture, but its not necessary. There is no homework outside of class besides reading. Exams are kind of hard, but you get one page front and back "cheat sheet" for every one.
Makes you feel dumb when you ask questions. Rude.
Thompson is very knowledgable about all things anatomy. The reason students think his class is hard is because the only thing that is ever graded is tests. He will say that you absolutely need to read the textbook for each chapter, but you absolutely do not. You do need to attend lecture and pay attention in lecture. No homework, but study for test
Read the chapters before going to lecture!
Address more things besides anatomy and physiology. Reminds students to constantly review and read. He is very blunt but he gets to the point of things. His sense of humor is different. Overall, a very good professor.
Dr. Thompson is a very straight forward professor. His lecture exams are based off the powerpoints (so print them out and take notes) and if he wants you to know a section from the textbook, he will tell you. This class does require you to put in work and study. Also try not to miss lectures, they're important. Overall, he's good!
Bio 211 is not an easy class, but Thompson makes it fun. He likes to tell stories about how the topics relate to his life and he usually exaggerates to make a point. Funny, intelligent, and just a great guy. I would 100% take him again.
Hard teacher.
Mr. Thompson really cares about the grade you receive. He wants you to succeed and do the best you can do. When he says you need to review past chapters throughout the year... do it! His tests cover everything present and past! To get a good grade in this course, you must devote many hours to studying.
Genuinely cares about his students grades and wants everyone to do well! Seems intimidating at first but is actually very easy going. Allows cheat sheets on all lecture exams. Great Professor!
Dr. Thompson was a great professor. He's not a tough grader and does not believe in trick questions. Highly recommend taking him for Anatomy.
A&P is a very difficult class but Dr. Thompson is great at teaching the concepts and helping students understand. His tests follow a similar format throughout the semester so you always know what to expect. He's an exceptional professor and very easy to learn from. Requires A LOT of studying and your grade is based only on tests.
Dr. Thompson will nag you thoughout the semester to study hard. LISTEN! You will have to bust your butt to earn the A but it is do-able, and very rewarding.
Dr. Thompson rarely responds to emails with questions. Very rude. The course is based on all exams. There is a curve at the end. He basically reads what is on the power points, and expects you to learn the criteria on your own. I suggest finding others to study with and using other resources such as Youtube to get a better understanding of content.
Dr. Thompson is very passionate about AP. The class is comprised of 4 lecture & 3 lab exams, that's ALL. This class is fast paced, but very manageable if you study and attend open labs! HE ALWAYS LETS YOU USE A CHEAT SHEET FOR LECTURE EXAMS. He will constantly nag you to study hard, listen! Exams are always "single best answer" which can be tricky.
Bio211 was the hardest class I've ever taken because I didn't know how to study for his class but he cares about his students and wants them to pass. You really have to put in effort for his class but it's passable and rewarding when you do good on something.
the class has 4 lecture exams and 4 lab exams and thats all your graded on. BUT he is the only A&P professor that lets you use a cheat sheet during tests!!! tests are all on lecture material and HE is kinda weird and quirky, but it makes it interesting.
Prof. Thompson is overall a nice man. However, we only had four lab and four lecture exams and that was it. So your grade fully relied on your tests, so if you're usually a bad test taker, you won't pass. Lectures are very long and boring. He does give you a cheat sheet for tests but honestly, it doesn't even help if you don't know whats going on.
Thompson is a weird guy, but... he lets you use cheat sheets on the lecture exams and his tests are basically the power points. The labs are wayyyyyyy harder than the labs in BIOL 211, but you can still get a C if you study. So basically you need to do good on the lecture exams to get a B in the class. Take note that A and P is pretty difficult.
Took Dr. Thompson for a goal class. Very educated and knowledgable about the subjects taught. He has a lot of great stories that go with the material. it was an interesting and fairly easy class. If you show up and participate you will do great.
Dr. Thompson is a straight up savage. He is hilarious during lecture, but very knowledgable about the concepts. If you religiously study his powerpoint slides and write down what he says during lecture, you will get at least a B on his exams. Lab was more difficult this semester compared to BIOL 211. I learned a lot from him--I recommend Thompson!
I had Dr. T for Bio 269, now I have him for Bio 322. Really wants students to do well in his classes. Gives LOTS of help with how to study. Gives reviews. Easy to approach, very caring. One of my favorite teachers here.
While taking this class with this professor you have to be prepared to devote the majority of your studying time to this class. One of the hardest classes available in my opinion. Don't take it if you don't think you are ready for it.
The only challenge of the course is learning how to associate certain names with parts of the body or their function. This phrase "you get out of the class what you put into it" applies more to this class than any other class I've taken. The professor is very knowledgeable so use that to your advantage. Good luck!
Thompsons lectures are slow, clear, and easy to understand. I learned so much in his BIO211 course and I (for the most part) really enjoyed it! Thompson will work with your grades and always give you the benefit of the doubt because he wants us to succeed. Great professor!
This is just a hard class. Nothing against the professor but the class is only based off of test scores so if you aren't a good test taker don't take this class. Otherwise, if you study you should be able to pass.
Anatomy is one of the hardest classes you can take. While this is a hard subject and Thompson is a good teacher, its really hard to do well if you're not a good test taker. The only thing in the grade book is exams so if you have an off day, your whole grade is affected. If you're taking Anatomy, maybe take it with another professor.
Thompson is a great choice for Anatomy but if you can't take exams then this class is not for you. He does not grade on anything else but the lecture and lab exams. You get a "cheat sheet" for each lecture exam, but if you don't know the material your sheet won't really do anything for you. He was clear and persistent on what he wants from you.
Anatomy and physiology is one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. Dr. Thompson seems to be an alright guy. Sometimes he comes off arrogant and makes you feel stupid if you have questions. You have 4 lectures and 4 lab exams. To make it in this class you really have to put the work in.
Everything on exams will be presented in lecture and in your note packet. Readings go beyond exam material, so refer to it as needed. It is possible to do well in this course, but you MUST put in the effort. Take advantage of your resources and develop good study habits. Thompson is great; he's blunt and clear about what's required for this class.
I had Wilson for BIO211 and Thompson blew him out of the water in BIO212. He explains concepts very well and is very organized. You'll have to WORK HARD to pass his class, but you'll learn the material well. Only tests, no assignments (which I like). Nothing against Wilson, but Thompson was just a better fit for me. He's an excellent prof.
He only gives grades based on exams, but you get a cheat sheet. I just put all the powerpoints on and aced all the tests. He is actually a super funny guy at times. He is retiring this year which is sad. I don't know why I am writing this since he is retiring, but oh well
I took BIO 269 with Dr T this semester. His classes are difficult so you have to work for your grade, but with that being said he is always willing to help students out and answer all questions. Hes an overall good guy and I recommend his classes to my friends
A&P can be difficult, but Dr. T broke it down to small pieces and made each part clear. It is important to him that students understand both the anatomy and the physiology. Lectures expanded on the textbook to add detail and explanation. Excellent teacher - one of the best you'll find here.
Just got my acceptance letter to PT school! Lots of the questions asked about anatomy, and I answered them because of Dr. T's class two years ago.
Had him for anatomy and had to drop because myself and many classmates were failing. No homework or study guides so grades are based solely on exams which are a free-for-all.
Amazing professor. Sad I won't have the opportunity to be in his classes again. The course grade was only exams, so you had to know the material. If you worked hard, and A is achievable!!!
