If you have another choice, take it!
This class was really hard but he lets you use a notecard for every test. Likes to talk about his research.
He wasn't as hard as I expected, but he still was really hard. You have to work your butt off in hopes of getting a passing grade. he loves to talk about himself. So stuck on himself
This guy is a big jerk. He thinks he's better than everyone else. He never has time for his students. I'd recommend taking someone else's class.
Not as bad as I thought, he allows you to use a notecard but it doesn't help. He likes to hear himself talk. He's OK...you really have no choice it is either him or Badgett...good luck.
This guy is a big joke; thinks he knows how to teach. He's not even a nice person to begin with; thinks the world revolves around himself. I wouldn't recommend taking any classes with him.
He is so full of himself! He excepts you to understand the concepts BEFORE you take the class. He needs to get his head out of his butt and get off his "throne".
I am happy that this class is over. I passed it with a C, even with attending every class, reading a whole book of 20 chapters, and seeing him on my own time for clarity. He is the better of the 2 teaching the class but you better work home.
I had him for teaching of elem science. I enjoyed all the hands on activities that we did in class but like what a lot of people say he isn't real clear with what he wants and he is a tough but you learn a lot.
Wow-worst prof..umm EVER!! Very unclear, expects you to know everything he knows-tests are impossible and lectures are confusing. I'd recommend NOT taking him!!
He is very stuck on himself. He expects you to know everything he knows. His tests are impossible...a notecard doesn't even help. No matter how hard you study, it won't do any good.
I could have done a better job teaching the class. It seemed the harder I studied, the worse I did. I went to him for help and he told me to drop the class. Some advice huh? Failed the class of course...don't take him!
True the class is NOT easy, but Dr. Christmann does care...but he cannot take the blame for people who don't come to class, don't study, and don't ask for help. He is very professional and expects prospective teachers to behave similarly. Learn it now!
He's a nice guy, funny too. I had a 4.0 before this class, and missed and A by four pts! The tests are REALLY hard. It's mainly a clarity issue. I couldn't figure out a good way to study, nothing seemed to help. NOTE: your not allowed to wear hats to class
This class is extremely difficult, but Dr. Christmann is amusing and very intelligent. He honestly wants students to do well... YOU HAVE TO BE WILLING TO STUDY. If you want to be a teacher, you are going to have to learn this stuff about the lawas and making exams so you will not get sued!
Very difficult class. I enjoyed it even though I struggled through it. This class is a wake up call for all who think college is easy. This was one of the first classes I have had that I learned something it. He truly wants all students to succeed but you have to put in time and effort.
the class is difficult but hes not as bad as everyone says. he wants you to learn and he is willing to help you when you need it. i didnt mind him.
I thought this professor was the best that I have ever taken. He wants his students to learn and be successful. Of course his tests are hard...it is a college class after all. Anyone that is serious about teaching should take this class. You will actually learn something for the first time at SR
This is NOT an easy class, but not all classes are easy. That doesn't mean he isn't a good professor. I learned a lot in this class and laughed a lot too. Dr. Christmann is a very nice guy and is willing to help you if you ask him.
What can I say, the man is a genius. Best class at Slippery Rock!
Well, after the first day, I decided that I hated the man. However, he's come to be one of my favorite profs this semester. He is very intelligent and actually, an overall nice guy.
class is very interesting. you will learn alot of things that will be very useful when teaching. I would highly reccommend Dr. Christmann.
I love this prof. He is tough but knows his stuff. He will gladly answer questions after class and during office hours. I was terrified going into this class but came out feeling really prepared to teach and grade. I learned a lot from him. STUDY A LOT, and you will do fine. I got an A.
People will say that you shouldn;t take Christmann for Ed Measures. You HAVE to take Christmann for Ed Measures because he makes you work haard and what you learn will be valuable in your own classroom. Don;t take the easy way out.
Terrible advisor on the graduate level
This man has to be the smartest person I have ever met in my life. He doesn't teach Ed. Measures anymore right now but if he does agin take him over anyone else. The class is hard, most of the time you will study your but off and only get a B or C at the most. He is worth it though over his conterpart Dr. Badgett. Take him, most will like him.
Did my student teaching under him and found him to be very biased toward the girls in the class. Guess he just wanted their attention.
HE LOVES TO HEAR HIMSELF TALK! Every class is powerpoint and lecture! Will not put the PP on the i drive either! Sometimes he won't even put he PP up and just expect students to be able to write and listen while he talks in quickly and in long sentences. Tests are not too hard but due to the lack of actual assignments class is hard to want to go to
Great Class! He is a very knowledgeable professor who gives interesting and enjoyable lectures. It would be nice to have him for other classes.
This professor is one of those professors that is very much into himself and does not open up to others. In addition, he has no interest in your opinions or any information that is different from his. Just take the class and get it over with...that's the best advice.
The best class that I've taken at SRU. He really shuts down the bad students and refuses to dumb down the class. No hats in class--thank you. Finally a prof. who cares. I got a "C" in the class and got something out of a class. Most students gets Ds...
forgot the SEFE#. if you don't like his style, accept your mediocrity as a student. doesn't ask your opinion because ed measures are objective. doesn't play favorites. doesn't favor the girls. likes people who do the work. difficulty is worth it if you take seriously your profession. i'm a dude, i shut the hell up and learned a bit, i got an A.
I had Dr. Christmann for both Ed Measures and Hist/Philos of Education. He's a very educated and knowledgeable professor and probably one of the best I've had. He expects quality work and will test you on it! If lecture and powerpoint format assists your learning you're set! I enjoyed both classes and would have taken another if available!
This class was the hardest Education class I have ever taken. The tests were really hard and he had to curve them. The material is very interesting and I learned a lot between the movies and lecture.
His lectures are off topic and boring. The tests are extremely hard and the only way to get any point in the class. The book is essential for the tests.
He is horrible. I wouldnt take him again. His tests are online, but they are so hard. The class average on the first test was a 66. That is also the only points in the class, 3 tests. It is really hard, dont take it! (Human Development)
This professor is the worst professor at this university. He doesn't help at all he is rude and inconsiderate. He loves to talk about himself and thinks that he is super smart. He blamed the first test average (a 66%) on us when he told us to study his notes which do not help and are the summaries at the end of the chapters. He is insulting!
The class was great and I enjoyed the lectures! It was a challenge but I made it and learned!
One of the few professors who takes pride in the quality of his classes. Most students expect to be spoon fed. If it was easy, it wouldn't set you apart. So why bother at all?
Had this class several years ago and have come to realize that it is one of the best classes that I have ever had. The professor was brilliant and handled the anti-intellectual students with kindness.
Courses are challenging because tests are the one and only way to earn points. Attendance mandatory. His lectures lack clarity, and, sometimes, it's difficult to decipher his point. I feel that he can be very condescending to students during lectures.
Class is very interesting. Dr. Christmann is very prepared and makes the course very interesting. Definitely recommend!
Seemed nice at the undergraduate level, but his graduate courses are off base. He offers little instruction other than his book. Other online courses have links, videos, or even typed lectures. He is too worried about statistics and testing and lacks the ability to focus on ideas teachers actually use.
Learned more in this class than most others. He is organized and prepared He is very fair Highly recommended
I don't care what people say about Christmann. The guy is a wonderful influence for future teachers and I loved the discussion-based class that he conducts. He is an interesting guy and super erudite with great stories. Don't be afraid of the tests. Just read and pay attention.
The class was by far the best I've ever taken at SRU! Dr. Christmann has an encyclopedic mind and I could listen to his lectures all day! If you are here to learn, take his class!
If you enjoy sitting in boring lectures and having your knowledge criticized on the daily, then Edwin Christmann is your man. If you enjoy hearing stories about someone's travels and how intelligent someone is, Edwin Christmann is your man. If you enjoy looking at pictures of random buildings every class, Edwin Christmann is your man.
Enjoy the class! Teaches about current and past topics in education. I like the stories! Would recommend the class!
Dr. Christmann was the most condescending professor that I've ever had. I sought his help & clarification about my grade several times outside of class, and he would normally respond with "read the syllabus" in an email-- and that's it. As a teacher now, I have realized how truly ignorant he was. He created a negative classroom environment. Ironic.
His statistics class was great! He has really good stories and knows his content inside and out! The weak students don't like him, but when all is said and done, I really appreciated his class!
So boring. He's never on topic which I don't mind, but when its a 2.5 hour night class and you talk about the difference between two colleges to show the differences between Sparta and Athens for half of that, its so boring. He shows movies that make you want to fall asleep, and his monotone doesn't help either. only take him if you have to.
He is the worst professor in the university. His tests are extremely hard even after reading the sections of the book multiple times and studying notes. He doesn't help students at all and is rude and arrogant. He doesn't allow students to have a different opinion than him and becomes condescending towards those who do. Also, he's my academic advisor and has not been very helpful when I reach out to him. Not to mention he does not reply to emails and is rarely in his office when I go to his office hours.
His test is very fair and enjoyed his lectures! Very good class that I highly recommend! Not easy but enjoyed it!
Enjoyed the class! He keeps you the entire time! Really a great guy when you get to know him! Enjoyed the book and the assignments.
Dr. Christmann can be one of the most helpful and intelligent professors you may meet at SRU; however, he can also be one of the most unhelpful and demeaning professors as well. SEFE 380 was completely lecture based, and you must be able to take notes well and read the book.
It was a great class to take! Helped me with my research project!
This was the best class Ive taken at Slippery Rock! Learned more in this class than all of my other classes combined!
SEFE 380 is very lecture heavy. However, they are not super helpful. Dr. Christman does talk about history & philosophy, but he talks about those subjects in general too much and does little mentioning of the education side. Also, if he asks you a question and it does not align with 100% what he thinks he becomes very rude and condescending.
SEFE 380 was one of my favorite classes. Enjoyed the lectures and discussions. Make you you pay attention and take good notes.
Really enjoyed the class! Best Ive taken at SR.
Dr. Christmann is extremely intelligent and well respected. His lectures can get a bit dry at times, I enjoyed them because of his vast knowledge of history. Having said that, the class is heavy on historical impacts of Plato Aristotle and others. He has two tests and a paper for all the grades.
This class was 100% online. Go at your own pace. Online textbook was necessary. 10 point quizzes for each chapter. 100 point final exam. Easy A if you do the work.
Really enjoyed this class! You learn history and philosophy and Dr. Christmann is very interesting. His tests are very fair and I learned more in this class than any other education class.
The Prof seems to think everything he says is clear. It is actually clear as mud. Be warned if you do not have experience in whatever subject he's teaching.. it will be beyond difficult and with little to no assistance. The assistance given is links to biblical rhetoric, nothing useful and there's no structure at all to the entire course.
This class was supposed to be about Inquiry Based Learning and there was absolutely no technology-based inquiry learning and he provided no opportunities to complete any inquiry based learning. He provided ZERO instruction, and we had to read each chapter and complete a quiz (which was ALL content based). If you want to learn, don't take. Wasted$
What can I say, he's good! I think the students who don't like him simply can't handle college.
This professor is not a clear grader. He expects you to already know Quantitative Analytics at a Ph.D. level. He does not explain anything, does not represent his university in a good light, and every student who takes him at Liberty University wants to quit. The issue is he is the only teacher who handles this subject at this level. good luck..
So I passed his class at Liberty University, but I wanted to warn anyone who takes his class. You will fail.. I knew Quantitative processes prior to taking his course and it was even tough for me. This is a required course for Public Administration, which is ridiculous as most politicians have issues tying their own shoes. Either way, be warned.
He is not a clear grader, feedback that might have been helpful comes after submission of assignment and there is no option for regrading. No support given during completion of assignment, was told to figure it out. He has no consideration; assignments are not clear; he tells you after grading what should have been done. I pray that he is changed.
Really great class! Everything was clear and the book was excellent!
Very wise and based
Dr. Christmann is by far one of the most interesting and well educated professors I've had. His lectures for this class were very informative and interesting.
I do not recommend taking this professor.
I really enjoyed the class and was successful in a class that I thought I would fail. He really cares about his students and highly recommend him!
Edwin, as an advisor, was inaccessible and could not be bothered to answer any emails. Since I could never reach him, I would stop by his office but he was always too busy to be bothered or would close his door to avoid talking. Luckily, Dr Hicks, Dr. Merhaut, and Dr Isherwood were always available and glad to chat about pretty much anything
Edwin did not perform any instruction during this online course. He just seemingly put the online course on autopilot with the assignments automatically populating according to the date. Never answered emails. Never answered questions.
This online statistics course was fantastic! Dr. Christmann is very organized and was willing to answer all of my questions throughout the course. He was available via email and zoom and showed me how to use the software. Highly recommended!
I have him as my advisor and every single time I email him he NEVER responds. Then I try to make an appointment to see him and he also does not respond. Also, when I stop in his office, it will take over an hour to even get to go in his office.
Dr. Christmann is my advisor and I had him for SEFE 380. He's the best! His class is awesome and I learned a lot. Make sure that you take notes and read the textbook. His tests are very fair!
This was an online class, and it is clear no effort was put into it. He uploads quizzes and material online. I'm paying to be taught, but I could do all of this for free. He was hard to get ahold of via email. We are only graded by quizzes, but we do have all semester to complete them, which is the course's only redeeming factor.
Very organized and highly knowledgeable professor. Helped me to learn statistics and was very helpful in answering my questions throughout the class. Highly recommended!
Terrible. Awful. Horrible.
The class was amazing! Wish all of SRU's Profs were this good!
A simple quote describes Professor Christmann: "The rules are made up, and the points don't matter."
Dr. Christmann is a great teacher who explains things clearly, cares about his students, and leaves students looking forward to come to class!
The only professor that I had at Slippery Rock who was a professor.
