Dr. Greco is awesome. He loves to help his students, and understands that physics is a tough subject for many students. Tests are hard, but that's not because of Dr. Greco; the physics teachers as a whole make one test for all of the classes. He's also a really cool guy to be around. For Halloween he lectured in a penguin costume.
Easily the most fun class I've had at Tech, he makes lecture enjoyable even though it can be pretty dry sometimes. Very easy to approach, and he always has a joke to lighten the mood. Makes me want to take more physics
Good, helpful professor teaching one of the hardest intro classes at Georgia Tech. Notes are on ppt slides. Test are very hard, hw is pretty much daily online.
Very helpful and a good teacher. HW is easy webassign; tests are much harder than the HW, but he is good at explaining the basics.
I thought this class was fairly easy, and as such, have missed several classes, but the classes I have attended are essentially an explanation of the material in the book, but with examples worked out on the board. The only thing I dislike about this class is the daily homework, which while helpful seems juvenile and unnecessary in a college class.
Makes class fun and teaches the basics. Goes on alot of tangents. PRS counts, therefore you need to attend every class. Test are HARD and you will need to study for them. They are nothing like the homework. Online Homework. Need to purchase the book. No Curve. Not easy teacher but fairly decent teacher.
Physics 2 at GT sucks. Tests are awful. HW takes a lot of time. Weekly Lab Quizzes suck. Compared to other Physics professors, Greco is helpful and fun.
An extremely talented teacher and a very well-run class. Modern Physics teaches you the fundamentals and I feel like I really understand things, instead of just memorizing formulas. Tests are extremely hard but fair, and he doesn't curve. Overall, if I could have him again for Physics II I would definitely do it. I wish more profs could be like him
He's pretty good at explaining the concepts. He jokes a lot which are funny, but sometimes the whole class gets really distracted..and half of the time I can't concentrate on lecture. The tests are hard..but they are from homeworks and lectures so i can't really complain.
Very entertaining lecturer. Knows what he's talking about and the tests will always have something that you've seen somewhere before or a variation of something. Seems like a very approachable person, but acts very cold and impatient when approached personally. Does not curve, but doesn't need to.
Very entertaining and incredibly helpful
He is very helpful, and willing to work with you until you understand it. He has a great personality and always keeps class interesting. He does not allow laptop use in the front of the class. If you want to use a laptop or electronic device you must sit in the back (laptop ally). His classes can be interactive, and he always posts the PowerPoints.
Excellent Professor. Funny and Entertaining, though he gets off topic a lot in class. Tests are very challenging, but fair. . Go over old tests/quizzes, practice a little each night, understand the material, and you should be able to pull at least a B. Greco is sort of approachable, just have good questions to ask him and don't waste his time.
Dr. Greco is a very good professor, but he has a tendency to go off topic. He's very passionate about physics and he tries hard to make it interesting to the students. I had a hard time really learning anything in his lectures, but he's approachable during his office hours. If you read the book and look at old tests/quizzes, you'll get an A.
Greco is a very entertaining professor, but rarely teaches what is actually relevant to the assignments. Tests are very challenging, because he doesn't look at the homeworks. But he is very understanding and curves the class. Favors the front row people, though.
Dr. Greco is a great professor and very entertaining for his students. I found myself always enjoying going to his class. However, his goofy sense of humor and tendency to get off track might make the actual physics aspect of the course more challenging for those who struggle with physics as a subject.
Great teacher, but goes on tangents often. I didn't go to class very often, so I used the textbook to do Webassign a lot. The tests are written by the department, so just because he's a funny teacher doesn't mean the tests will be easy. A very approachable person
Great Professor, will keep you interested the entire semster
Most of the professors at Tech can teach fairly well but Greco is an exception. He is one of the worst teachers I've ever had and cannot stay on topic for more than 30 seconds. Not a terribly hard class but if you take him prepare to teach the class to yourself!
Most of what you learn is from the textbook. He NEVER teaches substantially in class. I really liked physics but after going through this class I dread it. Sets assignments on topics he hasn't covered. Didn't enjoy this class at all….
Funny and enthusiastic. Makes class fun. Dresses up for Halloween
I really don't see what others saw in his past classes. Greco clearly knows his stuff, but he is inept at teaching. Completing one problem in an hour class period was an achievement. He explains almost nothing thoroughly. Wastes too much time in class on jokes rather than actually achieving any useful level of instruction. Would not recommend.
Dr. Greco is a really nice guy, however he gets off topic a lot. I self taught myself a lot by just using the textbook and working problems from there. You don't have to go to class, but there is clickers for a very small percentage of grade.
Most of Greco's lectures are spent listening to his jokes and maybe watching him work a couple of practice problems. Really nice guy but not a very good teacher and comes off as somewhat unapproachable. Tests were pretty hard and he didn't curve. Wouldn't recommend. I barely made a B and I had to work ridiculously hard for it.
Tests suck, final is easy, keep up to date with the information and know that everything builds on the basics. His lectures are all over the place, but if you ask questions he does a pretty good job at explaining everything.
If you're into learning things through the textbook and practice assignments then take Greco. The lectures are funny but can be all over the place and don't go as in depth as they should. Tests weren't bad as long as you get the key concepts.
Tough class but he made it enjoyable. Dresses up for Halloween and gives prizes that day!
Dr. Greco is fun and really cares about students. He is the best for lectures in the intro Physics classes... i've had the opportunity to be lectured by all three. You won't regret taking Greco
The best part about Greco is that he wants students to appreciate Physics, rather than cram formulas or trick students, which makes him the one of the best professors I have had the privilege of having.
Physics is not an easy subject, but Greco makes it enjoyable. He emphasizes understanding the subject rather than just memorizing formulas. He goes out of his way to make himself accessible to student, but he is not always the best at explaining things. The tests are difficult, but Greco tries to give you as much credit as he can.
Greco is absolutely hilarious and does a fair amount of examples in lecture. Definitely go to lecture and do all the reading and homework. Tests are ok, so make sure you keep up with the material and do the practice problems provided. This is a modern physics course, and I found the coding aspect to be really simple and a nice test problem.
One word: JOLLY. This man is probably one of the happiest professors I've had. Really makes the class fun and tries to keep the class engaged. He knows his stuff and is really willing to help if you show effort and go to office hours. Make sure you know how to do the homework and do the all the readings and practice tests and you will get an A.
Go to lectures, especially just before the tests and even on test days. Tests are hard but not impossible, lab is easy. Do the homework FOR SURE, and the practice tests. Get all those bucket points, they make a difference. Greco is hilarious, surprisingly awake for 9am, and always helpful. Great teacher :)
Classes bored me. Luckily got an A through extra credit from points gathered throughout the year. Would Take Again.
Not an easy class and you have to study to understand physics - because physics. But doable. Would recommend with this teacher; he is hilarious, teaches well, and is accessible to ask questions.
I never felt like I thoroughly understood physics, but I still did well because he tries to help you out as much as he can. Not a great lecturer but awesome in office hours. Do the homework early, do and re-do and re-do again the practice tests and take advantage of any extra credit opportunities. Lab is pretty easy but also a waste of time.
Terrible lectures. Attended every course, did the homework, read the textbook, still made C's. He does not help you learn the topics at all. My best advice: hope to have taken a good physics course in high school. Everyone just pulls from their previous knowledge.
I don't know, everyone loves Greco because he's funny, but I thought he was pretty 'meh.' When he actually taught it was awesome but a lot of classes he would just joke around and do some problem he made up on the spot that wasn't really like the stuff we were expected to know how to do on the exam. Just study a lot and go to PLUS sessions.
Decent guy, horrible professor. Nothing we ever did in lecture was related to the exams, and he would often spend the entire time on one problem which he would end up doing wrong and would later post the solution to t-square. I didn't learn a single thing from him, but I had two years of physics in high school so I was fine.
Greco is a horrible lecturer, but a funny guy. I stopped attending lectures because he would ramble about unrelated topics for a huge part of the class period in which I would rather be doing HW and understanding concepts alone. If you can do the HW and understand the concepts, it won't be too hard to make an A in this class tbh.
Loved my boy Greco, definitely made physics fun. Lectures weren't the most useful, but if you just read the textbook, do all the hw early and complete the practice tests, you'll get an A.
Greco is a great guy and a great professor. At times he can get off track during lecture because of a joke he comes up with or a story he remembers, but other than that he really works to make sure the students understand the material. As long as you do the homework and the practice tests, you should do fine on the tests. not a cake class
Prof. Greco is awesome! His lectures are fantastic and he makes class really interesting. You can tell how passionate he is about physics and its contagious. He also cares alot about his students.
Great professor
Greco's a hilarious professor. His lectures could be a little more helpful when it comes to learning the material but theyre still helpful (and entertaining) enough that theyre worth going to. Its not an easy class but it helps if you do the homework and start it early, not only for extra credit but also to give you plenty of time to understand it
Greco was a great professor. His lectures were clear and funny. He did sometimes go off-topic, but he got better at staying on-topic as the semester progressed. He is very available and enthusiastic about teaching physics. The combination of doing your homework, going to lecture, and reading the book will help you succeed in the course.
Didn't learn much in lecture. Spent a lot of time in TA office hours struggling to learn the material. Some of the labs/hws are so hard people will use chegg for the answers. Not sure if final was easy or I eventually learned. Greco made me laugh when he compared current to harambe sitting on a wire counting counting moving charges. Would not rec.
I don't think Greco had a hard time staying on topic, a lot of his "tangents" are planned and help explain the material in an interesting way. He's very clear about how to succeed in the class, and it's hard, but Greco's teaching is very intuitive and much better than the physics i learned in HS. Would 100% recommend, he makes physics less awful
Really made me care about the material.
Actually helped me learn. Very willing to spend an extra day going over material. Homework was a fair load but extra credit was available to do it early. Dr. Greco is super caring and has given his number out for if we need anything. Funny and good at breaking down hard concepts.
The physics GOD. This is the best physics teacher I have ever had. Can explain concepts really well. The key to succeed in his class is going to lecture and actively paying attention.
This man is the best physics professor Ive ever taken. He is hilarious and genuinely cares for his students. His class is really hard and I spent many all nighters for it though.
This man loves Physics, and he wants you to love it to. His lectures are super entertaining, and he goes over the really difficult problems in class because he WILL put them on the test. The homework assignments get a little repetitive at times and aren't particularly similar to the questions he likes to give on tests though.
Lectures are entertaining and exams are very reasonable. Make sure to do previous exams and extra practice problems at the end of book chapters on Wiley because he often gives exam questions that are the same/very similar to those.
While his lectures were a little random at times, he was always willing to meet outside of class to explain concepts and homework problems. Extremely understanding and is willing to help. Energetic during lectures
Dr. Greco is a great professor. He uses fun demonstrations to make lecture more interesting, and he really develops a friendship with people who participate regularly in class. Lecture would sometimes get ahead of HW, which was a bit frustrating but manageable. The content is difficult and Dr. Greco works to make it fun nonetheless.
Had him for both PHYS2211 and PHYS2212. Really cares about students and tries to make opportunities to help us out. The content for PHYS 2, I just found a lot harder than PHYS 1 but he was fair on the tests and I think the final was overall a bit easier than the midterms. Uses weighted grading where best test worth more than your worst
I know Greco is one of the beloved professors her, but I just do not get it. From snarky comments to random lectures I found him off-putting to say the least. He didnt make physics more engaging for me, like others say. The class is very challenging, so its not all his fault, but do not necessarily expect him to be as great as some make him seem.
I wasn't in his section, but I sat in his lecture because he's a great lecturer. He's dynamic and explains things well, although in a distance format his time management is horrible. He clearly loves physics. Wonderful personality in person, but when it came to digital communication sometimes the way he would respond to things wasn't constructive.
I do not know how he is with his normal in person classes during the school year, but do NOT take his Summer online class (SOUP), he doesn't even teach it is a flipped class room set up where you learn everything on your own from the textbook and videos and then meet with your break out group once a week. both tests avg were in low 70s, rough class
Great professor for a hard class at Tech. During the whole COVID crisis, things got crazy but he always seemed concerned for our well-being and tried to make exams as fair and straightforward as possible.
I took the SOAP class over the summer and believe an A in the class is achievable if you put in the work for the labs, look over the old exams and actually read the textbook. Theres a lot of presenting, which might seem weird at first but you will get the hang if it through out the semester. Having prior physics knowledge makes this class easier
He's a pretty funny and caring dude, which is great. You'll get your standard introductory physics experience with him, including: *clicker questions *labs (not terrible) *group solving time *tests (weighted favorably) Overall, I'm very glad he was my physics professor, definitely recommend.
Greco is great but taking physics at Tech in general kind of is the worst. Liked him a lot more than the professor I had for 2211. If taking 2212 online you'll have weekly mini-tests and a lot of the activities have you make a video. Great guy who does his best for students but is honest about the difficulty level and holds you to a high standard.
Greco is awesome, but his tests are tough. Review the material you just learned after every lecture to solidify it in your brain. The homework, labs, and other bucket activities are easy, but the tests are where it counts most.
Guy really seems to understand the feelings of students. Lectures are straight forward and fun. Greco is a funny guy and a good teacher. Felt there was too much work for lab reports, but it's a 4 credit class.
Read the textbook before class on what is being covered, laid out in the syllabus. Take time and do the homework because it links to the relevant textbook section if you don't understand. It is a hard class but if you put in the time, study in groups, and go to the PLUS sessions you will be fine. Greco is better than most at keeping class engaging.
Dr. Greco is a very knowledgeable professor who is very passionate about physics. However, his exams are quite tough and are definitely challenging compared to the homework.
Makes physics fun to listen to. Pretty clear explanations. It is a lab course, so it takes some time, but it helps you learn if you put effort into all of it. He's also very receptive to feedback and accessible outside class. Physics is still hard, but he's one of the best you'll ever get.
This class was extremely difficult but Greco made it better due to his informative lectures and helpful resources
Greco is very entertaining and knowledgeable! If you keep up with the class, the grading scale works in your favor. Old practice tests prepare you for the exams. Lab class, but the video lap reports were not too time-consuming.
I had a really bad experience with this class (Greco was not my prof but ran the course), so I reached out to him and shared how I felt after a certain interaction with an individual and he got back to me and was very kind. In a semester where I felt shut down in that class, he made me feel like I could finish strong and like I was supported.
Labs are easy to finesse, old test problems are your friend, and gps was actually kind of helpful. First two tests are doable and very formulaic; I did not attend lecture but did watch edx videos and did the old test problems and I did fine. Overall not very hard but does require some effort to get an A. Pretty hard not to get a B.
Really great and entertaining lectures, I had this as a 9:30 and didn't fall asleep even when it was online. Tests are HARD and when he says study STUDY. Office hours are super super helpful.
Taken as a hybrid course. Greco cares so much about students, but Physics 2 is gonna be hard no matter what. Taught as a reverse classroom, physics videos were posted and the lecture was focused on answering questions and working through problems. He has a tendency to veer off topic, but most of your grade is from tests/quizzes/labs so that's ok.
Dr. Greco is an enthusiastic and caring professor. He will try his best to understand the issues of each student and is prepared to guide them every step of the way. He gives out enough practice material such that I felt confident with the learning topics, and he tailors the learning experience for each student. Overall, one of the best profs.
If you learn the content before attending his lectures, this professor is for you. If not, you will have a hard time understanding on what he's doing since he also goes on tangents. So avoid this professor if you don't want to learn the content before attending his lectures.
Only people rating him high are the people that come to class knowing everything and just wanna have fun in class. Half of the session is him talking about stuff not related to the course and making jokes. I get it he's funny but his exams are not funny so just explain!!
Greco is a hilarious teacher. He can get off-topic sometimes, but his lectures are pretty useful. The weekly assignments aren't bad, but the tests can get quite difficult.
Greco would consistently fall behind compared to the other classes because he would get distracted and waste so much time. I found myself watching Alicea's videos to actually learn the material because Greco just simple does not cover all the content in lecture. I have heard that he is helpful in office hours though.
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS IN THE SPRING. DO ANY OTHER SEMESTER BECAUSE ALICEA WILL BE THERE. She is the only good professor. BUT still, the tests do NOT match up to class examples, GPS's and any other practice they give. Studied for 4 days straight for the final, 9am-midnight, and I sat there befuzzled. Unless you are a dweeb, this class is impossible.
Horrible lectures and ridiculous assignments
One of the worst professors that I have ever had. He is not a good lecturer, often going on rants or tangents about unrelated topics. The exams and final are unreasonably difficult and are not at all based off the examples provided in class/GPS sessions. Avoid this professor at all cost.
Horrible lectures, goes on irrelevant tangents, extremely disorganized class. I did not learn anything as I already took AP physics 1 in high school. Says he is available outside of class but never responds. Take physics 1 outside of this school, if possible.
Lectures were often irrelevant to the week's topic or we were behind by about two weeks worth of content from the homework. Lectures do not help with homework content. I pretty much just used my Physics 1 knowledge from high school to get by. Lab times are wasted on practice problems instead of actual labs. This class really sucks.
Tests are difficult and had to somehow "know" something ON test day that wasn't mentioned before. Prof. Greco was helpful when I reached out to him outside of class, and he was EXTREMELY caring when it comes to accommodating students. He told me that he goes off class topics to grab the attention of students that zone out. Overall great professor.
Goes off topic a lot and lectures tend to feel unhelpful, but honestly students don't give him enough credit of how familiar he is with the course. Tests are very difficult, but graders are generous so it evens out. Study and keep up with homework and it works out in the end.
Actually ridiculous that this class wants 3x attendance and 1 useless lab a week
He literally could not care less about you. Your house could be on fire and he would still require you to go to recitation because it is not an illness or "family emergency". Take Alicea if you can because Greco is unorganized and annoying. The best way to study is past tests because the homeworks, labs, and lectures are no help whatsoever.
Do not take this class with Greco if you're not a physics buff. Spring 2023 session, all of his lectures were 90% useless - he would go off on tangents and waste a lot of time, putting his sections behind all of the others (subsequently, making HW more difficult, as the content was not covered before the due date). Tests *disproportionately* hard.
He is extremely entertaining and loves physics, but he also loves ensuring that students are enjoying it and being successful at it. Best thing he did was to go into an example in-depth and allow people to ask questions which was extremely helpful for specifics. The class had interesting video report labs but they could be annoying too. Easy class.
He cares about his students a lot and encourages participation in the lecture. He made an effort to learn as many names as possible in the huge lecture which I thought was nice. Attendance isn't strictly mandatory but you get bucket points for answering clicker questions.
Very good understanding of the course material and of his presence in the classroom; wanted to benefit students in the long run as much as possible.
Great lecturer. Sometimes goes off topic and gets behind other sections but still covers all the material in great detail and makes sure every student understands the content. Cares about the students and takes meaningful action to improve the class from post-exam/lecture feedback. Exams can be difficult but are collectively written by all profs.
He was a good professor but there are too may students in the class for him to get to everyone's questions. Personally I felt like the practice exams helped the most for that class rather than the lectures.
He's an okay professor. He does yap a lot and gets off track at times, but it's probably needed for an early class. I recommend doing the practice tests a lot since exams are a good chunk of the grade. Labs are as easy as it gets here.
Professional Yapper.
He obviously is very good at what he does and really knowledgable about anything physics related. Outside of that, can have an extremely off putting attitude and make a lot of sarcastic comments that can come off pretty rude. He has way too many students to manage that he could care less about you as an individual.
Thought he would be great from this site, but he was just unfocused and rude in lectures. He would get really mad at people for not talking in the back of lecture, even though he has people participating in the front. Also, he would write exam problems that were intentionally unlike anything we had done, so no one understood them.
Very narcissistic individual that can't seem to admit things are his fault such as the lab submissions going down before the due date making it impossible to submit labs. Puts the burden on students for his own incompetence and will purposely make problems harder, require more work just to drive home a point.
If I'm being blunt, worst teacher and administrator I've ever seen. Teaches nothing, rude and uncaring about the students, and tries his hardest the make the class the hardest on campus. The exams were a joke, as in they were impossible to complete, and his handling of the other course administrators is laughable. If you can skip this class, do it.
He was the course administrator for Physics II this semester, and it was not a fun time. He would be very unclear or ignore comments in the EdDiscussion, and the tests this semester were incredibly difficult.
He was the course coordinator for physics 2 this year and did a terrible job, imo. The tests were intentionally harder than in past years, with many questions unrepresentative to what we learned in lectures or GPS. The class was extremely discouraging to me and my friends taking the class. He was also rude when answering questions in Ed discussion.
Pros: Genuinely wants you to learn, accommodating, and passionate about Physics. Attendance is part of your grade, BUT you can replace it with other stuff. Cons: Unreasonably difficult (relative to prior years), doesn't handle criticism well, and uses a very glitchy website for labs. You can get an A, but be prepared to fight for your life for it.
Do not take 2212 if greco is the coordinator (his name will show up on canvas as one of the instructors). Unbelievably difficult class and each exam got progressively more unfair. laughed off our frustrations with every single exam until one when our averages were so low that it was massively curved. Wait till Alicea is coordinator to take 2212.
Edwin Greco is a terrible individual. His tests for Fall 2024 is extremely difficult comparing with other semesters. He gave excuses that you should be responsible for difficult exams with bad grades, although everyone did bad on exams. No curves given. He doesn't care about your grade or whether you can be successful in his class.
Greco is an incredible physics professor. He's funny, knowledgable, and caring for his students. The exams can be hard, but I don't think he's doing it on purpose to intentionally make people fail. Labs were a joke but could help with understanding of the content. The grading scheme is very forgiving.
AVOID HIM AT ALL COST
Professor Greco keeps the class engaging, but his tests can be tricky. The lectures aren't always the most helpful, so using resources like Unstuck ai for study prep is key. Overall, a challenging but rewarding course.
Funny guy, but his lectures don't always do a great job of explaining the content. The main concern would be that during lecture, nobody will have any questions, often because nobody knows what to even ask, but he will stare at the group for 5 minutes while nobody asks anything. Mostly reliant on topical videos to learn.
Reviews of professor are unfair. Exams made by all of the professors, so that isnt just him. He isnt the best lecturer and he rambles a lot. He certainty isn't terrible, and I feel that the occasional ramble is helpful to break up the long lectures. He also is willing to show up early for struggling students, so I wouldnt call him lazy. Solid Prof.
Dr.Greco lectures well and is always excited to teach us. He truly cares about the performance of his students, so much so that he began to do practice sessions at 8 AM before lecture for students who need extra help. He's very helpful during office hours and is the professor you want to take physics 2 with.
I recommend skipping his class (getting point solutions code from friend in class) and learning from another professor's notes (Sachdev had incredible lecture notes). Greco is a funny guy but he yaps a ton so his lectures are not good.
Greco did 2-3 practice problems through the full 16-week semester. He spent a lot of time on topics such as bequeathing his skull or how he got all As without studying in his undergrad rather than covering exam content, which leaves you wholly unprepared for his exams. He also posts incorrect GPS solutions & makes careless logistical errors. Avoid.
I took physics two this semester and was optimistic at first due to the grading scheme. However, I was wrong because Greco has review sessions only for his students, makes tests unreasonably hard with questions from researchers, and does not even give study materials like study guides to help us out. What a waste of time.
I'll be honest. There are things that Greco could do better (e.g. not go on tangents so often in class, make more detailed slides with greater material focus instead of history focused, etc.), but he did care about our success. He was helpful in office hours, email, and review sessions. If you make an effort to learn, you can at least get a B.
Greco is a great lecturer, and makes sure everyone is always engaged. Physics 2 is a difficult class so to do well you have to lock in, and people hating on him need to lock in harder.
Lectures weren't always on topic the whole time, but we didn't have any issues covering all the material. The tests are fair if you understand the material and the grading scheme is pretty forgiving. He really cares about his students doing well and is available a lot outside/before and after class.
Earlier this semester, I left a poor review of Greco. I've completely changed my mind about him. I've NEVER seen a professor put in effort like he did for our final review session. He also came into lecture an hour before, every single day, to help students. I thought he didn't care about students earlier on, but I couldn't have been more wrong.
I was preparing to write a poor review of Dr. Greco earlier this semester. However, after a few weeks, Dr. Greco switched to high gear. Following our first exam, he came one hour early every lecture and went over problems, an invaluable resource. Also, he held a final review session on a Sunday night. Many of the reviews on here are unfair.
Spent more time talking about bequeathing his skull and how he skipped class in undergrad and still got As than he did on teaching content. Also, he petitions negative reviews on RMP to get them taken down, so the rating you see is not an accurate representation of students' experiences.
So hype. What a guy. No notes.
He is actively deleting negative RMP comments. Inequitable reaction to global AWS outage despite every other major class moving their midterm. Ignored hours of requests for clarity on exam status, leaving many emotionally distressed.
Awful lecturer, does not explain concepts clearly and does not stay on topic.
My comment that I originally did seems to have disappeared, weird. Anyway, didn't hear any of the student out when canvas shut down the day before the test. He makes the tests extremely difficult. Then he scraps as little as possible to make the class for an exam average at a C. I dont understand why he is trying his hardest to make students fail?
I took Greco in the Spring of 2025. He wasn't the greatest lecturer but he was a fair professor. He never asked for anything that would be unfair to his students, and I respected that he would show up 30+ minutes early to his lectures to have remedial lessons for his students that struggled with the 2212 concepts. All the hate seems undeserved.
Pretty bad lecturer and goes off topic quite often. Also does not explain any of the basic, fundamental concepts in class. He also takes a while to respond on ed for questions related to soon due dates. Makes the tests unnecessarily difficult and openly admits this to students. Very unorganized in terms of what is taught and what is tested on.
Fun lecture. Won't stay on topic. Doesn't seem to care much about students: slow response on edStem + refused to move midterm for phys2212 when AWS (canvas) was down the day BEFORE and OF the test...ridiculous. When the test's average was low, they didn't slow down for test 3, it was ridiculously hard too!
Pretty good lecturer, he went off topic often but made lecture intersting. The tests while some of them were hard had good partial credit that made them fair. Also all the people complaining about him not rescheduling the exam after the canvas outage are idiots. All the review materials were literally posted on Ed and there was no problem studying
He was a good lecturer even though he went off topic a lot.
literally could care less about him going off topic, in fact it was decently nice to see a professor with humor. alicea
try to get at least 100 on one of the tests, it will save ur grade. other than that dr greco is a fine lecturer, but i learned much more from aliceas vids and it sucked bc attendance still matters thru clickers. giving him grace bc I know i could've tried harder but this so called gen ed requires a lot of work if ur bad at physics, be warned. sucks
physics at georgia tech obviously caters to students who are good at physics and are engineers. if you are not in that category, well, good luck. dr greco did not make it any easier, tests are complicated and designed in such a way that for each problem either you get it or you don't. no in between. feels like a class designed against students
Watch Alicea's lectures if you don't usually get physics first try. Greco dances around the most fundamental concepts and then acts shocked when we did bad on tests. Honestly this class would be 10x better if it wasn't such a big lecture size. Imho physics is a subject everyone learns differently, and everyone here doesn't want to acknowledge it.
Dr. Greco is not for everyone, as he goes on a lot of tangents. I found him to be extremely effective, where he would introduce tough concepts and then work through a LOT of problems in class. Dr. Greco also announced to all sections the specific topics each exam covered and held extra review sessions for a month before the final. Amazing professor
I used to be a physics major, then I took this class and changed asap. The lectures were messy, there are about 200 students per section, and the outside of class work is insane. Expect homework, labs, homework previews, GPS problems, and an insane amount of studying. Teaching yourself won't cut it, you have to know everything inside and out. :/
Course coordinator for 2212 so knows what's going on. Decent lecturer and funny guy but did a lot of learning on my own
Greco is the LeBron of physics 2. Everyone giving him bad reviews because of tangents or the great AWS incident (which made me mad too) just need to lock in harder ✌️😭. This guy is the goat and made my first semester fun.
Cant slime him out because both of us could have done better. I feel as if I had to put 3x as much work in compared to my friends who are "good" at physics, and Dr. Greco didn't exactly make the feeling much easier. His lectures were pretty good tangents or not but I still feel like they were boring/uninteractive to the pt where I j gave up midsem
SAY NO TO GRECO!! Georgia Tech literally made him apologize for how badly he was handling our physics 2 section this semester. I learned way more watching Alicea's videos, but it sucks because lectures were 1hr 15 minutes with mandatory attendance. I only missed point solutions about 4 times and lost out on a part of my grade. Save urself.
He plays a very fun game where he will improve his style later on in the semester, but if you already fell behind, good luck. He is however half-decent at showcasing multivariable topics for physics. If you want a serious and fun treatment of E&M, take PHYS 2232. If you want a basic treatment of E&M, take another professor!
He needs to change the way Physics 2 is taught at GT. Attendance should NOT be mandatory if you're gonna be such a picky professor for test rubrics. Really you can fully understand a concept and still be unable to produce much work on a test that counts for credit. DONT TAKE HERE TAKE SOMEWHERE ELSE
