His Lecture is funny, and I watched lots of video. The most important thing is getting into a great group. Your grade would be decided by your group members. Moreover, the first quiz is extremely important. Eean is nice person : )
Eean was a great professor. Lecture was usually funny and somewhat interesting. Lots of opportunities to do well, but your grade depends entirely on group work. Somewhat tricky exams.
Eean is an amazing professor! He is by far the most genuine management professor I have ever had at the University of Iowa thus far. His tests are somewhat tricky but don't think for one second that you cannot excel in the course. Make sure that you end up in an awesome group and lay down the law on the first day or else you may get a bad grade!
His test are highly related to textbook, if you want to get a grade, you have to read textbook carefully instead of just skimming it. He is very helpful during his office hours.
One of the best Instructor in the Tippie College of business! He is not only a course teacher but also a life teacher. He made everything very clarified and gives a lot of help to students. As long as you do all he recommends, there is no problem to get an A!
He really makes an effort to keep you interested. He tells funny life stories that tie into lecture, we played minute to win it during lecture one time, and he has some fun, relevant video clips that always make lecture more interesting.
Professor Crawford is a good professor. He explains things clearly during lecture and is helpful in many other ways. However, his class is very time consuming and the tests are pretty difficult. There is a group project due every 3 weeks and you have to do out-of-class activity having to do with stuff like research participation. Lots of work.
Really nice guy. Lectures are hit or miss. Sometimes interesting sometimes boring dependent on the subject matter. Tests are really hard but they're curved.
Eean Crawford is a great intro professor. He's inspirational and understands many of his students have never taken a management class prior to his. Lectures are very informative and entertaining. As usual, hopefully you get a good group for group projects, they're 30% of grade and need to be done right. Make sure to do all the surveys!
Eean is one of my favorite teachers! He is helpful outside of the classroom and he tries to make lectures enjoyable. Definitely recommend taking his class!
Would have been a great class if I didn't get screwed over by my group in the group project. You are assigned a group for the semester for 4 projects (YOU CAN BE FIRED AND HAVE TO DO ALL THE WORK YOURSELF.) Lectures are amazing and do go the full 50 mins everyday. Tests can be complicated but just study really well
I really liked Crawford. He is one of the best professors I have had at Iowa so far. He was always willing to give me help and advice. I went into his office ours a couple of times and he also gives great life advice. He incorporates positive psychology into his class so it seems way less tedious. Overall, great professor.
One of the worst professors I have ever had. He has this whole nice act going but he is definitely one of the rudest people I ever met. Also don't expect anything from lecture to be on the exam, lectures are basically a 50 minute therapy session while the exams are real in depth and irrelevant.
Professor Crawford is hands down the best professor I've ever had at Iowa. He could not be more clear about his expectations and his grading process. If you show up and actively pay attention you will have no problem doing well. He is entertaining, engaging, and a brilliant man. He truly cares about his students even in a huge lecture.
Crawford is an AMAZING professor in everything he does and says. He is very clear, will go out of his way to help ANY student, and never makes you feel dumb or silly for asking. He shares good stories and you can just tell he is a genuinely good guy! I would take any class from him again.
BEST TEACHER EVER!!!! took him for intro to mgmt, enjoyed every lecture, wish he taught more classes
If you do not get a good group, you will not pass the class. A ton of points are given through group projects throughout the year, and you keep the same group.
Eean was easily the best teacher I have had not just in college, but in my life. His lectures go over management but more importantly, they prepare you for life in the real world. He uses tons of examples which makes the material much easier to understand. You can tell he truly cares about all his students. Only one midterm and a final.
TAKE HIS CLASS HE IS THE GREATEST LECTURER I'VE EVER HAD. His tests are hard and I regret not going to see him in office hours. Also, take note of the books and podcasts he recommends in class, they are worth the time to read and listen to. You only need to book for the aplia hw, share with a friend if possible.
This dude has the best lectures, I actually enjoyed and looked forward to coming to class. He makes everything connect, gives good examples, and will talk to you about anything. Pay attention and do the summary notes like he says in first lecture, it'll save you during midterms and finals. Tests are kinda hard but if you study you'll be golden.
eean is the man. love his lectures. nice guy and has good dad jokes.
Only complaint with this class is the group system, it can be really frustrating if you get a group who does not put forth very much effort and/or doesn't show up for meetings. Tests aren't too bad but there are defiantly a few trick questions. Easily one of my favorite professors personality wise though, entertaining and seems passionate about it
I enjoyed going to Eean's lectures every day. He made content that could be not as interesting more fun to learn about. Group projects are okay if you get a good group, otherwise, you'll have to work harder and/or fire underperforming members.
This class is definitely one of the easier business core classes. Eean is a very funny man, and a great professor! You have 4 group projects throughout the semester that arent too hard. The test are a little harder then expected, but if you take good notes you shouldnt have a problem. I would say you should get a B in this class easily.
Eean is a very great professor who is enthusiastic about learning. He makes the class interesting and engaging, and brings positivity and life lessons to each class.
Awesome professor. One of the best for sure. You can tell he genuinely cares about what he does. I would definetly recommend him.
Dr. Crawford is an awesome professor who lays out very clearly what you need to know for exams. His lectures simplify pretty much everything the book says, minus a few concepts which he tells you you will need to know. Awesome guy too, makes lectures fun.
Crawford is a great teacher, cares about students, and gives you all the tools you need to succeed. His lectures are actually enjoyable and applicable to real life. Tests aren't bad if you understand everything on the study guide. Only downfall of this class are the group projects, which you can get screwed on if you have a bad group.
All around great professor. He is unbelievably fair. He lays out in advance everything that is on each exam. As long as you fill out the key concepts he suggests, its a breeze.
I have never in my life been more inspired by a teacher. Professor Crawford makes every lecture enjoyable and very motivational. Although his exams are tough, they definitely weed out people who brush management off. I've never been in a class that so accurately grades based off of effort. If you put the time in, you will get the grade.
Professor Crawford has been my favorite professor here at the University of Iowa. He is so inspirational and you can tell that he has this immense love and care for his students. He one time got so overwhelmed with how much he cares for his students he was tearing up. I would love to take another class with him if possible because he was amazing.
Professor Crawford is an absolutely amazing teacher and lecturer. He is funny, entertaining, and kind. You can tell he cares about you and the class as a whole. Unbelievably great person and professor!
Prof Crawford's lectures were very engaging. The "key concepts" he gives at the end of each lecture tell you which concepts could be tested. Although I am not passionate about management, he made me like the subject. The group projects required a lot of detail, so make sure to include everything from the prompt. The TAs are strict graders.
Great professor, made me excited to go to class bright and early every Tuesday and Thursday.
Hands down my favorite professor at the university. Although the class is not a blow-off, I would recommend it to anybody. Some tips I have for you are to actually memorize the key concepts (they are test questions) and follow the rubric carefully on group projects. Great professor that makes class fun and interesting.
Was my favorite professor so far, actually enjoyed going to the lectures. Test are tough but if you go to lectures youll do just fine.
Great teacher but tests were hard. make sure you watch lecture and listen to him and do the course concepts after because thats all the test is.
Prof. Crawford is very fair and genuinely cares about his students. Prof. Crawford is also a very powerful, intelligent, and inspirational speaker.
W Professor
He is by far my favorite professor. He makes me want to come to class, but I don't do well on his tests.
Honestly my favorite professor at the University of Iowa.
Lectures are very entertaining and it's easy to stay engaged. Very willing to help. A lot of contect from lecture shows up on the test. Heavy on group projects (30% of grade). Nice because you learn a lot on the projects, but they significantly dragged my grade down. Can't switch groups or turn in your own assignment, so hope to get a good group.
Awesome professor! Would recommend.
This rating has nothing to do with Eean. He is a super nice guy and is really passionate about this class. MGMT:2100 is the most pointless class in the Tippie core. It teaches nothing of importance and the exams are based on random vocab words that you will never use again. Lectures use Top Hat. The class has way too much grading criteria.
don't pick him suckest
He is a very sweet and engaging guy. The course itself is not very hard and the material is pretty easy to understand if you read the slides and listen to the lecture. He is very outgoing and tries to make class fun!
If you are going through reviews make sure this is the only one you take to heart. This guy blows!!!!!!!!
avoid at all costs
Avoid for the love of god
Very Inspirational but exams are torturous. Would not take the class again because of them. You can study for multiple days or weeks but each question is a trick and each definition is longer than a book or has 10 different options.
Although this class can be good at times. Avoid at all costs. There are so many different ways this class could be run because the stuff he teaches is pretty cool and intriguing the way he makes you apply these is very hard and not enjoyable at all - Ruins all the good stuff he presents us which is vert unfortunate
If you are wondering if intro to management will be a piece of cake like smart goals etc its not. this class makes me want to end living
do not take this at iowa!!!!!!
I genuinely don't understand how he has a 5.0. Everybody I know hates him. He's off putting and creepy. His testing is designed to make you fail. I haven't learned anythign at all this semester. I want my money back.
These lectures are cringy and useless. I will not get anything out of this
Honestly, there are too many components in this class for his tests to be so hard. Avg is 65%, and outside of the test the sheer amount of assignments and work you have to do is nuts. But he does have good intentions but if he really wants to increase our happiness maybe give some practice tests idek.
Eean is a cool guy but this class is way too hard for no reason. There is SO MUCH useless information to memorize for tests. The discussion section felt like a completely separate class, where we just do group projects every week that are completely unrelated to lecture. This course is way too hard for no reason.
I never wore my seatbelt while driving to school bc i wanted to die before making it to this class
Super nice guy, he really cares for the students. The course itself is just so insanely in depth. Exams are like 50/50 textbook and lecture so u really gotta be on top of things. Out of the management professors it is probably best to get Eean. While the class itself is pretty hard you might as well learn from someone who cares.
Eean Crawford is hands down the best professor I have ever had! Yes, there is a lot of work, a lot to memorize before exams, projects are a little annoying, but his lectures are super engaging, he gives you literally everything you need to know to succeed and the way he teaches makes you want to do the work and keep showing up. Take his class!!!!
This professor is amazing! A lot of people on here do not like the class which is very understandable, but Eean is an amazing professor. If you want to do well in this class, take him as a professor, hope you get a good TA, and study only the course concepts. These are the only things of importance, and will be all you are graded on.
He is a good professor, however, the material in the class is very vague and is solely based on memorization, then come exam time the questions are all heavy application. They're definitely needs to be more exam study material to practice. The discussion section does feel like a completely separate class as all we do is focus on projects.
The class isn't the most easy or fun, but he really tries to make class enjoyable everyday and is also ways telling stories or telling jokes
Very friendly and caring guy. The lectures are fun to go to (even though they are manditory). Lectures and homework are easy to understand, but the tests are ungodly hard. Group projects are big in this class, but there are opportunities to "fire" bad group members. Overall, good guy.
this was the HARDEST class I have ever taken for being an "intro" to management class. lecture slides are pointless for notes bc he gives 15+ terms to go find in the book after each class. group projects worth 75 points with no correlation to anything discussed in lecture. exams are the worst and questions are worded difficult so everyone fails!!!
Not a single thing learned in this class will translate into the real world. You can know theory all you want but that won't get you a job outside of a university. If you want to learn to manage, just get a job and don't take this class.
Eean is a great, engaging instructor who cares about his students. I enjoyed the lectures and everything I learned, but the exams were challenging. They were very specific and required applying the concepts, which we were never taught how to do. Make sure you do good on group projects because those can greatly help or harm your grade.
As much as I believe Eean provides engaging lectures, I warn anyone planning to take this class to take it somewhere else. The exams are totally ridiculous. He is out to get you on every question.
Genuinely the worst class I have taken at the University. Steer clear, take this class literally anywhere else and don't waste your time. Group projects screw you over and the midterms are ridiculous. I've seen so many people suffer, don't do it to yourself!!!
He makes lectures super interesting. Lots of different items that are graded so you can't drown based on one item. People often hate the tests but you do have to memorize a lot of information. Not that much work outside of class. Enjoyable and better than 90% of professors I have had. You won't hate the class. I guarantee.
Professor Crawford is a top notch professor, and an even better guy. He is by far the best professor I have had here at UIowa. Taking his class has taught me how to be a better colleague, employee, and most of all a better person. Yes this class is hard, but it is curved based on where you stand compared to everyone else in the class.
He thought he was funny with his jokes, but that's all I learned. I studied the terms he put on the study guide and when it came to the midterms and finals he made it so difficult for no reason. It seems like common sense, but his tests make it horrible. Don't take this class with him if you can.
Eean has spent a lot of time perfecting this course. Yes. His tests are hard. But Eean goes out of his way to provide an accurate study guide AND crosses off irrelevant terms. I got my internship using terms i learned in this class like expectancy and the time management skills. Start studying terms a bit before the test and you'll do fine.
The professor does a great job with the lectures, but the tests are extremely hard for no reason. Overall, the class is enjoyable, but you need to work hard for those exams. The other main part of the class is the group discussions. You have to get lucky with a good group to do good on these.
Professor Crawford is a very nice, good family man. He is very passionate about the class and can tell that he cares. However, the exams are hard… and they should not be this rigorous for an intro course. The discussion section and the lecture felt like two different classes. I really enjoyed the discussion, and getting to work with others.
If you possess intelligence greater than that of a garden hose, this class is utterly and completely useless. There is nothing presented in this course that was even slightly useful, enlightening, or insightful. Class is focused on useless memorization of the arbitrary rules somebody wrote about "management", (how is that even a "science")?
Type of guy to tell you that writing notes with a pencil is scientifically better than writing with a pen. This class blows.
Very hard exams. rigorous course
I really enjoyed this class. Lectures particularly interesting and engaging. I didn't think the material was difficult to understand, but when test time comes around, I was almost surprised at how much we had covered once I looked back. He always recommends to summarize your notes and key concepts, and that does make a significant differnce.
This nga went above and beyond to make ts difficult for his students. Don't think you can pull up to lecture and stare at his bald ahh head bc every exam WILL drop your grade if you don't pay attention in lecture.
Eean is a genuinely excellent professor. The exams are insanely fair. He tells you exactly what concepts are going to be on the test, and exactly what to study for those concepts. He really cares about his students, and if you're confused about any topic just ask him and he will give you word for word what to study. Would take again for sure!
Sorry but if you think these exams are hard then that's just a skill issue at that point. Just make a quizlet with the key concepts and do it like three times before the exam and you'll be fine. He literally tells you exactly what's going to be on them. I loved this class!!
The exams can be tough, but Eean is amazing and gives you everything you need to succeed. His lectures are very engaging and applicable to real life and I actually looked forward to going to class even at 8:30 am. If you summarize key concepts as you go and try hard for the projects, you'll do just fine
Eean does very well with what is a difficult class. You have to take it seriously and prepare for the exams tediously.
Crawford is very clear about his expectations. If you focus learning concepts off his provided guide + create application questions using each concept, you will excel. Group activities are poor substitutions for real world intro-management activities and, depending on the TA, can make or break a grade. Overall, easily my favorite professor.
He delivers highly engaging lectures and offers some of the most valuable advice I've received in college. The exams are challenging but fair, designed to test true understanding. Eean is clearly passionate about his work, and his commitment to teaching is evident.
hes a really good person and stuff. im sure if i went to lecture and studied for more than 1 day for the test i prob could have ended with an A. the group projects in disscussion can not that bad if you put effort into it. If you get a bad group just make sure you let your TA know so they atleast have it in the back of there mind
