Not helpful during office hours. Gives really long study guides that are impossible to remember all the material. Or doesn't give study guides at all. Tests are always unpredictable and very challenging.
Jennings is awesome!!!! Neuroanatomy is so hard but she made everything worth while! You will need to work for everything in this class but you will love her and everything you learn if your are into neuroscience
Hands down - best prof I have had at ASU. This class is not easy - and you work for your grade. Eevin is wonderful, and her lectures are extremely interesting. She is so caring, and seeks the best for her students. Always knows how to make us laugh too. Wish I had had her for PSY 325 & 101. Even got to make a cool 3D brain model. TAKE HER CLASS!
Lectures are every class, and contain massive amounts of information. Reading from book is long and wordy. Participation in class is required, and attendance is mandatory. Exams are long and hard, and can tank your grade.
Only 1 lecture per week. Online HW quizzes due once a week. Tests count for most of the grade. Great lecturer but lectures are supplemental to the online learning.
My favorite professor here at ASU so far. Shes super funny and really interactive with her students, when it comes to lectures. A ton of reading is required and it honestly drags after a few chapters. Exams are hard and intentionally unpredictable. Lectures were fun and interactive, almost like Kahoot.
She has one class lecture every week but that is not helpful in the long run. The homeworks are not really helpful with learning. Make sure to attend lectures, don't skip because you will regret it. She is an amazing teacher and hilarious. But be ready for a lot of work and constant studying.
Dr Jennings really knows how to make an interesting lecture. She grades on a curve and will always go out of her way to make sure the class is succeeding. Tests consist of textbook readings and lecture material. You are required to show up for class and are allowed to miss one- still, don't miss that one because it will always be valuable.
She is very nice and passionate about what she is teaching. Always keeps lectures very interesting and engaging and does polls throughout to take attendance. Test are challenging because they cover a lot of content but overall very interesting class and very good professor.
Eevin is a very reasonable teacher. There were weekly readings accompanied by weekly online quizzes. Her lectures didn't usually address everything in the weekly readings, and her tests did throw some curveballs.
She's an amazing prof. absolutely loved her lectures. If you read the modules and take notes you'll do great. Study and prep for the tests and you'll do fine. I got over 100% on first two exams easily.
Probably one of the most amazing professors--and people--out there. Funny, relatable, informative lectures, and cares so much about her students succeeding in her class. So happy to have had her. TAKE HER!!!!
The average joe may not pass this class, you have to want it to get it. This class is lecture heavy but if you keep up with your notes on a weekly basis you should be fine. hard work pays off in this class and Dr. Jennings gives it her all so you should too. Let's get this bread.
She is seriously the best! Just this class is hard! Psych major? Get ready to memorize a whole lot of bio! I mean a lot of information. She is super understanding of issues happening and is willing to meet outside of class, she is a great person but you better be ready to work your butt off to pass. Also a super interesting class!
Good lecturer, very knowledgeable about the material. Not accessible outside of class does not hold office hours. She will refer you to TA's for any issues you have. Beware, the last test she will unknowingly make it worth 37% more than the other tests, without telling you. Basically, if you don't give her problems she won't give you any problems.
Everyday she uses poll everywhere to test you on the previous lecture (only 3 questions). Don't purchase textbook, she provides you with one on canvas and is only used for homework questions. Tests are based on powerpoint lectures, nothing from textbook. Tests are challenging, but if you take time to study, you will do fine. Honestly, great class!
She's a passionate teacher and its clear she knows that she's talking about. However, I do think for a 101, she's a hard teacher. 4 tests and a cumulative final which sucks( but she does drop one). her guides are suuuuper long and only half is tested. go go go to class because attendance is mandatory and no extra credit given. no purchase of book
Dr. Jennings is a great professor and the class isn't completely difficult, just do well on the exams (4 are mandatory). The last exam for some reason weighted more heavily than the others. Although she's almost always late to lectures, her lectures aren't long and they are entertaining. Only have to meet on Thursdays, no class on Tuesdays.
She was very relatable and wanted to keep the students engaged.
Prof Jennings is clearly very intelligent and good humored, but is very hands off when it comes to support for her students, and the tests are very heavy and difficult. The study sessions by the TAs are basically useless and confuse you even more. I'm sure she'd be an awesome teacher in a smaller class but there is too much too know and do.
Professor Jennings is clearly very knowledgeable and her classes are always fun. However, the exams are not consistent in difficulty and study resources are limited. Most recently, the study guide was changed three times without notice before the most recent exam. Mindtap is not great, it is too in depth. Overall, I really expected better.
For exams she just had her undergrad TA grade everything for her written exams and there were numerous mistake made very upsetting.
Dr. Jennings is hilarious and knows a TON about neuroanatomy and cognitive science. Not only that, but she communicates her knowledge in an easily understandable and engaging way. Best prof I've had at ASU so far, favorite class I've taken despite it being EXTREMELY difficult. If you know everything on the slides, you can get over a 100% on tests.
Professor Jennings was easily the best professor I've had at ASU. She did not have one boring lecture, which is commendable based on the material we were learning. She had an extra credit quiz at the beginning of every class, which helped. However, it is also the hardest class I've ever taken. SHOW UP TO CLASS
Dr. Jennings is funny but that's about all that was good about this class. She makes herself hard to get ahold of and relies on undergraduate TAs who barely understand the material. The review sessions are pointless and confuse you way more than you thought possible. She can be rude and full of herself often.
This class is notorious for being the hardest psychology class at ASU (due to both the material and the teacher). AVOID THIS CLASS AT ALL COSTS, and this is coming from a student with a 3.9 GPA. She is almost entirely absent outside of class and relies on TAs that are incredibly unhelpful. The material is difficult, and exams are 70% of your grade
Super fun class with interesting lectures. Weekly online quizzes and reading. I didn't do the weekly reading but filled out the study guide before every exam from my notes and the textbook and did fine. The weekly quizzes can be found on Quizlet. Dr. Jennings is great and very funny. I would recommend this class.
Absolutely loved Dr. Jennings! Her lectures are interesting and she is hilarious! Exams are pretty easy as long as you pay attention in lectures and at least skim through the chapters. Definitely recommend taking this class!
She is a fantastic lecturer, hilarious, and overall this is a fun class to take. You really need to be at lecture if you want to succeed because her explanations help clear concepts much more than slides. Hard class at first, but you will pick up the rhythm. Most contact for help is with TAs, hard to access herself outside of class. Do extra credit
Dr Jennings is super funny and she makes the lectures very interactive and keeps the class engaged. Attendance isn't required but you have to have 80% attendance if you want your lowest chapter quiz to be dropped and there are also some in-class activities occasionally. The final is optional, so just do well on the exams by doing the study guides.
Easily one of the best professors I've had. I will emphasize the importance of going to class for the EC and for the material itself, but also because Dr. Jennings is such a great lecturer. You can tell she genuinely cares about her students and the material and makes an effort to make the material engaging and graspable (many pictures and memes!)
Loved Jennings. Shes so funny during lecture, you dont want to miss it. Lectures are also very interesting. If you sign up for a 2 day/week lecture, you only have to attend one day (basically an unofficial hybrid). Gives extra credit on tests, so theres no way you can fail. Probably one of my favorite teachers at ASU so far.
<3 her! Fun, interesting lectures simplified amap. GIves you slides w/ blanks to fill in + test material ONLY comes from lect so actually easy. Thought it would be a ton of work/scary hard but 10 min of hw/week + GOING TO LECTURE + 1 hour studying for exam + review session 102+% on all tests. So much ec daily. 1 "paper" SO glad I took this class
Her class is awesome. Every class has an EQ based on last lecture & its EC added to tests. HW is not timed & can get info from the powerpoints. You don't have to buy a book. She does fill in the blank power points so it's important to go to class but she is funny and lectures well so you should go anyway. 4 exams & 1 short paper about a SL activity
Great professor!! This class would have not been bearable if it wasn't for Dr. Jennings. She is so personable and makes every lecture make you want to be a psych major. The work and tests are simple is you just attend class and do the readings. Highly recommend the course!
THE BEST PROFESSOR EVER. She is so funny and incorporates memes and real life things and jokes into her power points which makes it way more fun to learn. She truly cares about her students. Free app to take attendance, WebAssign textbook for quizzes, and the book really does help with exams.
Jennings was a great Neuroanatomy professor! She definitely knows what she is doing and teaching. Highly respected and would love to take again. She makes lectures interesting, with that being said, show up to lecture because notes will only be provided during this time. Provides fill-in-the-blank lectures to follow along. Make sure to study!
I took physio psych with Dr. Jennings, and she's fantastic. The class was hard, and if you don't take the time to read and really understand the material you probably won't do well. She makes the tests and the discussions worth the same amount in the grade book and there are plenty of assignments to boost your grade. I highly recommend Dr. Jennings
Good teacher. The only class where Attendance isn't mandatory that I didn't skip. Actually enjoyed the lectures.
I took this class this sem as a senior. Good prof, easy class! Lots of reading on your own, but then we come together for class and review and actually have fun reviewing. Open note exams and easy homework. Interesting content. It's a good class! Highly recommend.
If you want to pass this class, you need to put 200% into it. I recommend not choosing this professor. The test is so heavy, 60%. Do not choose this professor if you just want to pass this class.
As long as you show up to the lecture and take notes for this class you'll get an A. The tests were pretty easy and the professor did her best to make the class as fun as possible.
She' the best! Makes lectures very fun and entertaining. She had 5 exams and homework lecture quizzes every week (usually 2x a week). She also used yellowdig which is really a big grade booster! She' easy to follow and provides a lot of material. Tests are tricky but open note, make sure to study and go to exam review sessions with the TA. TAKE HER
This professor is super funny and makes you want to go to lectures even tho they aren't mandatory. The class could be harder but due to her dropping one of the 3 test scores AND giving us up to 4% extra credit it helps your grade a lot. The only other thing in the grade book is quizzes that you do at home. I think this is the easiest PSY class.
She is a great teacher and is clearly knowledgeable about the material. However, the readings for this class are absurd. Tests were often hit or miss in regards to difficulty. Totally possible to get an A and pass the class, just be ready to do a lot of reading.
Just read the book and make sure you use her study guides for the chapters and that is all you need for an A. She has a hybrid class, so only one class per week, but not mandatory. The readings are LONG, but that's all you need to do for the class, so it's fair. The tests are totally fair if you study her study guides and do the readings. Take her
By far the best teacher I've had thus far in college. I have taken 3 of her classes and am enrolled in another for the upcoming semester. She is extremely understanding, caring and intelligent. If someone claims to not get a good grade in any of her classes it was 100% their fault. She puts so much time into her lectures and exams, and is amazing!
Dr. Jenning's lectures were fun but sometimes distracting. The mindtap readings were long but were beneficial to the weekly quizzes and exams. The exams are more application base which made them harder than usual. The exams are open note but some of the questions did not apply to the supplements given. She did however offer 4% extra credit to tests
Really sad I can't take more of her classes bc I'm graduating this year. I just nominated her for one of the psy teaching awards, she is more than deserving of it. The material is difficult, but this professor cares and gives you valuable resources that she made herself. Really wish I could still look back on all of them. Dont take her for granted.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE. No lectures, just point blank material in modules that are VERY vague, unexplained, and leaves you to figure everything out on your own because the free book is helpless. Homework every week which comes from the modules and require an in-depth understanding of the material which is impossible since it's not explained
This class is okay, I dislike how there is not really extra material to study. It's hard to understand,so extra material would be nice. I also do not like how the assessments do not close after 11:59pm. It would be much easier to keep track of time if the assessments closed when due. I have other work and a life, I can't do everything a week ahead.
(Fall 2020) Dr. Jennings is one of the best, most caring professors I've ever had and she really makes this class amazing. THIS IS A HARD CLASS! You really have to read the material posted in Canvas and understand the larger concepts in order to do well on the (open note) exams. But overall Dr. J and her TAs are always available to answer questions
Im sorry, but this class is an absolute joke. She hardly records lectures, just makes you watch videos. The modules are vague and dont contain much materials, but for the exams you have to remember every tiny detail (and theyre 50% of your grade). Maybe this class would be better in person, but online, this aint it. Overall, wouldnt recommend.
AVOID this class. At least online. The lectures are vague, incomplete, and filled with phrases trying to seem relatable. There are no lectures, just some information posted in canvas. Exams are HARD, notes are useless as information on the exams are not taught! Ive had a 4.0 gpa and am afraid this class will be the one to change that.
Please read before choosing this class. Exam is 50% of your grade and 45 questions for 50 minutes and RLD + webcam is required for exams. Modules very vague and lectures very little; more reading then her actually teaching. I am not one to complain for a hard class because study hard then you get a good grade, nope not in this case for this class.
Dr Jennings was awesome! The semester I had her was the first full semester of online courses and she really made and effort to engage the class online. She gave helpful insight, and was extremely fun in class. Most importantly, she was human and understanding of the tough transition. I would 100% recommend this class and this professor.
Jennings is a paradox. She's funny & her classes are lit. Content is average, quizzes are hit or miss so working for your grade is necessary. But when it comes to student support, she's not great. She might treat you like a dummy if you have to ask for her help. Great lady, bad attitude, good class. Be warned: her tests are 70% of the grade
Even with my notes and book right in front of me i couldnt get above a C on her quizzes. she writes all of her own tests/quizzes/hw. Whats discussed in lecture is about 2% of what will be on the test.
New unit and quizzes every week. Quizzes are based on scenarios, not facts/definitions so having an understanding by reading the textbook is important. If you go off her study guide questions & attend the TA review sessions, you should do well on the exams. Her lectures are engaging, she's funny and often puts memes in her slides. (Took fall 2020)
I won't say this class was easy, I got my fair share of bad exam scores, but I will say that the professor cares about you more than almost any other prof I have ever had. I once came to class and talked about my fear of graduating, only to find out the class was canceled and she stayed to talk with me. Prof Jennings is also just a great professor.
Jenning's strategy of educating is simply not to teach. The wonderful TA's of the psychology department was imperative in my ability to pass. The class is taught after tests, so class time is essentially useless. Rather than seeing class-taught lecture time was spent exclaiming how the comments on her rate my professor page were sexist.
I was excited for this class but she made me actually hate it. Test heavy and terrible "lectures" which are just her giving links to youtube or stuff from the book. She harps about plagiarizing her material when she does the exact same without credit. Avoid at all costs, not available, is a pick me girl, and expects you to infer the wholec clasd
Probably the WORST professor I've had at ASU. She says class isn't mandatory, but the tests are about 25% from the lectures. Her tests are very application-based and difficult (they are open-note though so take good notes!). Her lectures are USELESS and she doesn't explain ANYTHING. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!
DO NOT EVER TAKE HER. Absolute worst professor and a terrible person. She seems very chill in class but she actually could care less about her students. She ruined learning psychology for me and her class didnt help at all for tests/exams. You take the tests before class even happens and exams are impossible. Unless u want to fail dont take her!!
Dr Jennings is an amazing professor but her expectations are sometimes too high and exams are so incredibly hard. Neuroanatomy is a hard class in general & Jenning's is the only professor who teaches it so just prepared to make this class your top priority. This class is "flipped" so you have to do all the actual learning at home. Good luck!
Dr. J is one of my fav. professors! Shell ask questions on questions to utilize your thinking skills & will add points where needed on assessments & exams, so feel free to question her! This is a flipped class so a quiz is taken before class but helped myself be prepared & have questions ready. Plus MADE ME read & do the work! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Some of the reviews on here are a little humorous ("pick me girl"), because that is quite the opposite of Dr. J's personality. Both her and the TAs care about the students, her tests are extremely difficult, and you have to put in A LOT of work to pass! You really have to understand the material. Don't take this class If you're expecting an easy A!
One of the best professors I've had. She's passionate about what she teaches and she's always open to feedback. Is this an easy A class? Nope! There is a quiz before each lecture and you really gotta work for your grade. But Dr. J genuinely cares about her students and is always open to help you. Participation isn't required but it's very helpful.
Took the hybrid version of her class. No physical textbook; she provides a link to an online one, & although there is bit to read sometimes, if you do your notes following her suggested format, you can easily pass the quizzes. You have to attend class for the second half of the lecture/notes, but it's all pretty straight forward. do the notespass
Prof. Jennings genuinely loves her students. To get an A, you must study a lot and do all the readings. Her lectures are fun, she tries to keep the students engaged by making funny jokes and answering your questions. The material is very interesting and she knows the answer to most questions. attendance isnt mandatory but to pass quizzes it helps!
Lectures are interesting and funny, related topics back to pop culture and true crime. Class isnt too bad if you read/skim the book before taking the quiz. when I took this class there were only a few assignments and not much work throughout the week - I spent about 3 hours a week on this class. lecture and iclicker optional and only once a week
This class was a terrible experience, every single quiz is worded poorly or has wrong answers set as the right ones. She does not grade anything herself, so whatever you get from the tests is graded by canvas and she is unwilling to look into mis grades without more than half the students complaining. Would not take again, hard class, bad teacher
If you rate Dr. Jennings anything below a 5.0, you don't do work or come to class. She is easily the best professor I have had this semester and makes it clear how to get an A in her class. Although her lectures are optional, she makes them interesting and fun with the iClicker activities. Of all PSY101 professors, she is the best one to take!
Super funny and amazing professor! She makes the topics about psychology so interesting. There are notes from an online book given and they're pretty hefty here and there. Make sure you take good notes for this class, both in lectures and from materials given on Canvas. During lectures, she answers questions and her TAs are amazing. Really cool :D
The class is really interesting and she made lectures easy to tune into, unlike most professors. She helps keep the big lecture class engaged with the iClicker, which is not required for points but is a fun aspect of the class overall. The readings are also not that bad but are necessary to understand the assignment materials.
What I really like about her is how she gets the whole class engaged. She is super entertaining yet informative during lectures and answers lots of questions, yet attendance isn't graded. Her and her TAs are quick to answer questions in the class discussion. There's a lot of reading for HW, but they're super important for passing the quizzes.
Jenning was a great professor. The class consisted of lectures and note-taking but Jennings had a way of making it interesting and engaging. Each week students are required to take two quizzes one on the online chapter and one on the lecture. Reading the chapter and attending class was crucial to getting an A but passing was easy. (I was hybrid).
Jennings is a great prof. Her lectures are pretty interesting and fun. No tests throughout the whole course, only 2 quizzes a week on the current unit which are pretty easy if you pay attention in lecture.
After completing an entire psychology degree at ASU, I can tell you Dr.J is the best psych professor. She is hands down the most knowledgeable professor I have had and is so incredibly dedicated to helping her students learn. Obviously a class called neuroanatomy isnt going to be easy, but it is so doable with Dr.J as your prof.
My favorite professor Ive ever had for ANY subject. Incredibly engaging and inspirational. As long as you pay attention and take good notes (which isnt hard because she makes class interesting) youll do good on the quizzes. Perfect amount of homework, I never felt overloaded.
This class was pretty easy. This class's textbook is free and is pretty loaded with information. Each chapter has a test that is done online and is open notes so you will have no problem. The lectures are important since they add to what we learned and there are tests about them. The professor is also extremely kind and makes the lectures fun.
I've taken PSY 325 (A) and 426 (B) with Dr. Jennings, and she is one of the most intelligent, knowledgable, and caring professors I have ever had in college. The material in both of these classes is HARD but her post-grad research was conducted on how students learn, so if you do the work the way she sets it up, you will succeed -GO TO OFFICE HOURS
Her lectures did not help with her post lecture quizzes. She definitely put effort into her lectures though, even if her jokes were meant for the younger audience or based on pop culture. Very sarcastic and rude to people who deserved it, but it felt unprofessional. Inaccessible, and must use a TA. The class itself was easy enough.
Great professor, go to your lectures and you will be fine, great class, and write down what she says and look at the notes, again great class.
Really liked Dr. Jennings as a person. Her lectures were always fun and entertaining, which quite frankly made the material a lot more interesting. The weekly quizzes were brutal however, and it seemed like no matter how many notes you would take, they would still be difficult.
Dr. J is the most amazing professor I have ever met. I took Physio Psych with her during lockdown and it was the best class I've ever taken. She is such a wonderful person and professor. Her class is difficult though. Read and re-read your notes and challenge yourself outside of class because the tests certainly will challenge you. Lockdown exams.
She has a unique way of teaching to students. I would recommend taking her PSY101 class if you want to get a good understanding of psychology.
I took this course my freshman year in undergrad as a Biochem major. Looking back, I absolutely loved this prof and the structure of the lectures, surveys, and homework/reading. By far my favorite class to date and I'm in my 3rd year. Please take this course seriously and do the readings. Also have fun in lectures!
