A really easy A. He gave no tests or final in exchange for not sleeping in class. We had some homework but it wasn't hard and the enthusiasim he has for architecture is contagious, he's really a great teacher.
He's very understanding and eager for you to learn! He's very concerned with you and is helpful.
This guy was the best professor I ever had, I love this guy. Plus he is Greek how cool is that, I love my heritage!

Even though the class met at 8:00am Efthimios was entertaining and interesting enough to keep us awake. The content and projects in the class were helpful and fun.

VERY Easy. Makes jokes that are kinda funny, but usually so lame you laugh. He also makes you think outside of real Architecture. I fell asleep mostly. If you keep a good portfolio, you will pass the class with an A.
IF you miss more than 5 classes he reduces an entire letter grade. Class is large and it is difficult for aides to keep track of assignments, so you must be careful.

Good fun teacher, a lot of humor in his 101 class, and seems to be your every-day kind of guy who answers his cellphone while crossing a construction zone.
Meh. GAs are retarded and never give you the right info if you a miss a class. Lecture is pointless. Assignments are fun.

He doen't know anything about theory. He makes it up as he goes. He thought Palladio was born in the renaissance. HOWEVER, you can teach yourself a lot by doing the assignments.

He's a really fun guy who knows a ton about architecture, but not necessarily a ton about technical terms and all that kind of stuff. 101 is really hard if you're not a drawing person but Efthimios is a great teacher.
Efthimios is cool just sit back follow instructions and get your A, No sleeping, And you have to draw even if you suck he doesnt care. you can miss 4-5 times and he wont lower your grade. cool guy
This was one of the worst classes ever. He made you spend about $200 on the class projects other than the books, which by the way were about $100. Along with the fee that comes with the class I spent about $400. The class is really easy but pretty useless.

Efthimios is amazing, but i wouldn't recommend taking this class if you're looking for an easy class that doesn't take any time. Great class for students deciding if they want to major in architecture.
A great professor! He made the class fun and was enthusiastic about everything he was going over. Loved the class but it was a ton of work. Be prepared to invest sometimes up to 4 hours on projects.

Although I only took Inro to Arch with Efthimios because I HAD to, I had a good time. I learned how to sketch quickly and accurately, and learned a lot of different types of architecture. He talks about much more than architecture, and if you listen carefully, you'll learn some great tips and lessons from his lectures. Great instructor!
Easy class. The projects can be confusing at times... doesn't matter, just turn something in. To Efthimios, everything is fantastic. Class has no structure which may frustrate some students, keep up with your sketchbook.
Easy class, just make sure you sketch and do the assignments. Be ready to pay a couple bucks out of pocket for materials.

Great guy, he always tries to involve everyone in discussions. His class is great to start the day with, its calm and not too hard, as long as you are able to keep up with the assignments. He always makes me feel welcome in the class.
The guy is pretty nice, he always tries to make the class laugh and usually succeeds. Unfortunately he doesn't teach anything about Architecture. There's more homework in his class than in my intermediate programming class. And that's saying something.

Such a nice happy person you can tell he is enthusiastic about what he does. Projects are not very difficult they take time but you do not have to be an artist to get an A. I just took this class to get credit for art I am not into architecture or really learned much from him.
Efthimios was a fantastic professor. He was very involved with his students. He taught a lot about architecture too. Some people say he didn't, but he focussed more on the artistic aspects of it. I visited a house he designed and it was spectacular. He's an amazing designer, and a great professor.
Very disorganized. It's hard to keep track of assignments and he doesn't explain them very well. He'll talk about something one day and forget it the next, so it's all very confusing. He was an easy professor, but I've learned nothing in the class and definitely don't want to pursue architecture in the future.

Efthimios is a successful architect, which has made him an egomaniac. The work load is light, but attendance is mandatory and classes are excruciating. Class time consists of him rambling for every minute of class, while requiring you to sketch his designs. He is extremely indecisive and I found this class unbearable due to lack of structure.

I'm not for his abstract teaching style, I think the class had too much sketching, and I can't say I learned much about architecture as a result, but Efth is a talented guy who genuinely cares about his students.
Initially I thought this class was going to be a lot of fun but quickly found the class to be a waste of time. You don't learn about architecture unless Efthimios likes it or designed it. On the other hand, if you can put up with his rambling about how great he is, the class is easy.
To anyone whom is not an architecture major DO NOT take this class. Efthimios makes you sit in class and listen to how good he is, and sketch useless stuff. I didn't learn one thing about architecture. Class is poorly structured and ways to turn in stuff is just dumb. Hated this class.

He's super chill. Very relaxed environment. The class ensures you use 100% of your imagination. Ive had previous arch. classes. This class is less about structure and more about the imaginative and abstract techniques used. Took the class over a year ago, and his teaching still impacts how I see the world. Highly recommend-Top ten classes at UNM.
Efthimios is unique. Most of the semester, I thought he was arrogant. I hated the class because I couldn't figure out the syllabus. But when the semester ended I realized I had gone to every class. That was a first! I learned more about life from this man than any other class I've ever taken. He is incredible, even if you don't see it at first.
Although I am not interested in going into architecture, he opened up my eyes to see how a designer thinks. Many students may judge him as if he doesn't have anything important to say, but he teaches with his heart. He cares for his students and teach them about life. He tries to teach students to go beyond the textbook. Overall he is magnificent
Great teacher, very free form. He has a great look on life and helps students to better their lives. He isn't incredibly clear on when and what assignments are due, but he will accept late assignments.
The class is easy but he is not very well organized. He confused me when assignments were due or what exactly the assignment was.He also ended the class late most of the time. Not the best but not the worst either.
Efthimios is the most disorganized teacher I've ever had. He seemed to plan things on the spur of the moment and then forget to follow up on his assignments. Class had no structure, he walks in 8 minutes late and then holds the entire class after it was supposed to end and yells at anyone who starts packing up.
I don't feel i learned much about architecture in this class, but we watched alot of movies, and sketched 3-4 pages a day. Fore a fine arts credit, it was worth it, and I ENJOYED HIS OUT-LOOK ON LIFE, BUT THE CLASS WAS VERY DISORGANIZED. Easy A if you make an effort.
This guy is just fun to be around. As he describes it, you have to have the imagination of an 8 year old child to succeed in this field. He doesn't teach so much the jobs or duties of an architect, that comes later, he teaches you how to think like an architect, how to be creative, and you get to do a lot of neat things in the class. Good time.
I took the online class, and he was completely absent. All videos were pre-recorded months in advance, even the syllabus was reprinted from the previous semester without changing the dates, so if something was due in October, syllabus said April. I am not even sure he is still alive, the whole class could be a Weekend at Bernie's scenario.
honest opinion here. avoid this class if you're not shooting for architecture. there are far better fine arts credits. I did not learn a single thing about architecture. Lectures are mainly about "sticking it to the man", and other "life lessons" from efthimios. Insanely boring class, and didn't learn anything out of it.
I took this class online. Sent him a total of 10 e-mails thru the semester and never got a response back from him. His assignments are always unclear. Donâ??t rely on him to help because he will never respond back to you. Neither will the TA. He has 8+ sketches due a week, which is a lot of work! Easy class to earn an A.

He is awesome!! Just make sure that you turn in your assignments! It's hard to understand what he was saying something but he is very Funny. He will makes you laugh and it's very refreshing.
The class shouldn't be called ARCH 121 because it has nothing to do with architecture whatsoever. The class, however, is pretty easy. The worst part was having to design jewelry. The last week of class, we watched Midnight in Paris.
I took it for the fine arts credit. It is easy and the TA is super cool. You do have to do a lot of drawing and a big project but it's relatively easy.
Efthimios is a kind, super cool guy. Many of his lectures are super motivational or inspiring. But his class is very work intensive! If you are looking for an easy A this is NOT the right class. Efthimios is very experienced in his field and bases much of the class on his own projects.

Efthimios himself is a really cool guy. I would love to sit down with him someday and have him explain my life to me. However, when it came to teaching Architecture, forget it! Talk about unclear. No syllabus, nothing. If you're the type of person who needs to plan their lives even a little, I wouldn't recommend this class. You'll be lost.
Mr. Maniatis is probably one of the most inspiring professors I have ever had. I took his class purely for the fine arts credit, however he made it so much more. His passion for his field was contagious and he always seemed interested in what he was talking about. While he is flightly he is VERY lenient on the projects & due dates. GREAT PROFESSOR.
i only used the only textbook i bought once and just copied stuff about lines down for an assignment.. class is boring.. completely unorganized but he basically gives you an A.

He was infuriatingly unclear and no one ever really knew what was going on. The whole class was a mess.

If you're not going into architecture, this class is easy. The class should be called designing because that's what he focuses on. You don't know what assignment you'll be doing next. He shows many movies in which you have to draw sketches as notes. He's a very interesting guy. His Greek accent didn't bother me much.
Class was basically sketch 4 pages watch some movies and build items which could be expensive based on materials used. Easy but boring spent money on textbooks that I used once but wasn't necessary. Only took for a fine arts credit
This class is more on the fundamentals of design then actual architecture. It is an easy "A" class if you sketch during lectures (he likes everything, just do something, even if it's your shoe, breakfast from the frontier, or the kid in front of you) and turn in the very few assignments he assigns throughout the semester.
Awesome. Easy A, but so passionate. It depends on you as to how much you take away, which is what more classes should be like.
Ef is the most well-rounded, encouraging professor I've had at UNM. Not always clear but the total creative freedom makes up for it. If you want a class where you'll learn life lessons and can express yourself, take this class! Pretty profound lectures. For clarity, ask/email the GAs, they're happy to help. Just sketch, and don't stress.
Took this class for the credit. Some people complain that the assignments are too vague but if you at least try and use your imagination to make something and turn it in you'll get a good grade for it. Efthimios is super interesting and he has so much compassion for what he does. Its great! And in class all you have to do is sketch! easy-peesy.
He might not be clear with assignments or very helpful with each student. But he really loves architecture and he will make you love it a little more too. After taking his class, I seriously considered switching my major. Class mostly consists of drawing. He pretty much gives A's on every assignment. An easy A, or even A+.
Efthimios is such a nice guy that is passionate about Architecture. Although this is not a difficult class, you will have to create a handful of models. You just have to go to class and sketch, which makes it easy to sit back and let all of your other thoughts go away.
Really really easy A. Don't stress about the models because usually, after he assigns it, a few days later he just tells you to do whatever you want and he's happy with it. He really loves architecture but he teaches both architecture and basic drawing skills so it does get boring and he sometimes forgets which things he's assigned.
I took his Arch. 121 class online. Told us to email him and to keep and touch and when I had questions he never replied. It seems that in the online course your work is different and a bit harder than going to his lectures. Fun guy and was very inspirational. Defenitly don't take architecuture for granted anymore.
First thing - no tests or quizzes in this class. He does take attendance, and you need to "sketch" during every lecture. If you turn something in on time, you'll get an A. Efthimios is a hilarious guy - sometimes intentionally. Don't take the class too seriously; just enjoy his joyous attitude and laugh along with him in lectures. Fun class.

Expects 8 full pages in sketchbook per week, however gives us VERY little to go off of. Wants a full sketchbook by end of semester but everyone says that is not going to happen. I expected to learn history of architecture, really only saw a few recent magazine articles. Repeats self, doens't make much sense. VERY unclear on assignments.
His class was really enjoyable. I would definitely take again n be ready to sketch!! I like the fact that he calls out the people who use their phones in class bc then that gets everyone more engaged. The assignments/projects he has us do are fairly easy n he doesn't grade that hard which is good for people who aren't artistic.
This class is really easy you just sketch whatever you want each day and you'll get an A. Clarity on projects are kind of confusing but you'll most likely get an A either way. He is a very interesting instructor and always has stories to tell. Lectures are really good and you do not have to expect a lot of out of class assignments.
His English especially while typing emails is horrible, there would be symbols like ($@&) in the middle of words. Also beware of him assigning assignments that are not clearly explained.
This teacher is very free-spirited. Do the work but do not take it too seriously. If you're interested in Architecture it is definitely a good class to take. Overall, I enjoyed this class.

I hated the sketching for this class (mostly cause I'm not a good drawer). Beware that he does take attendance. If you're looking for a Fine Arts credit just take the class, its an easy A.
He is a good guy, but his teaching ethic is poor. He was gone half the semester and we were left watching videos to sketch. Look out for the assignments, they require costly materials. He always let class out late, and took attendance. His assignments are very unclear, but he really cares about his students' futures and easily makes us laugh.
He is a great guy with an awesome sense of humor but a lot of intelligence and experience in his field. The class is not hard, but the assignments can be unclear at times. Overall, good class and good time.
This is a great introduction to Architecture and the world of Design. Easy fine arts credit. Its just a lecture class where you show up, you do some outside research, and you make models at the end of the year. Easy A
It's an Easy A, but the most boring class I've ever taken. I might have been excited about architecture before, but about two weeks in, absolutely hated it. I didn't learn anything about it-- He's the type of teacher who stands at the front of the class and talks about himself, rather than his subject. Cool at first, annoying after 16 weeks.
More of a life lesson class rather than architecture. He has some funny stories , but lectures can get pretty boring. I would recommend the class if you're looking for a fine arts credit, it's an easy A. It's all based on participation and I had a really nice TA that explained all the assignments for us.

Requires you to go to lectures that have hardly anything to do about architecture. Also very hard to communicate with the GA's. But he's a funny guy and he teaches good life lessons.
I really enjoy this class and he is very fair. He helps you whenever you need it whether its in class or out of class. He is also very funny and is always in a good mood.

Taking arch121 with Efthimios is really an easy A. If you do the projects then an A+ is easy. He does rant about his own stories, but he's a really nice and funny guy. Sometimes the lectures are really boring. Draw in the sketchbook and do the fairly easy projects and earning an A is easy. He's interested in the student's success and is very nice.
Professor Maniatis is caring and loves what he does. He answers your questions and does not grade harshly. Everyone gets an A in his class, whether you spend 3 hrs. on each project or 45 min. This makes the class easy to fit in your schedule, but it isn't great for hard workers, unless you spend time with him outside the class (if you want an A+).
He is very nice. He shows his past projects in class and shares his experience so I think it was cool to see that. I guess I bought all the textbooks but if you take this class with your friends, you just need to share the textbooks among group because it's mostly in class-sketch exercise and there are several crafts assignments so.
Just glad I got my fine arts credit. You will not learn a single thing of architecture. He wants to hard to be a philosopher. Show up to class, take notes and sketch on his random lectures, put together a portfolio at end of semester, and about 7 easy assignments. Used book once for an assignment. Need a art credit and a easy class. Take this class! Wasn't clear on most assignments but his TA cleared it up. Just turn everything in and you will get an A in the class.

Professor Efthimios was a great instructor and an amazing person, Work got hard at times but nothing that difficult, just do them, turn them in and you'll get a solid A.
If you are planning on taking ARCH 121 online for credit, I advise you to rethink that strategy. The modules are very confusing, and have not been updated for many years. The dates on the assignments do not even get changed. He expects many hours a week of work, and this class took my entire weekends some times. Be prepared to be confused.

Worst professor I have ever had at UNM. Does not reply to students and took over 2 months to get grades in from August. Often took me 20 hours or more a week just to finish weekly assignments. Modules are from 2014 and before and he refuses to update them. This class made me frustrated and feel disrespected. He does not care about his students!
This class and its structure alone, would turn any potential architecture student away from the field. The material hasn't been updated in over a decade. The due dates in learn are from 2015. He/TA's don't reply to emails. We didn't have an assignment graded for 10 weeks. There are assigned readings from imaginary books that we don't have.
Awful, really disorganized, and you won't learn anything. There are no tests, therefore no clear grading criteria. YOU NEED TO SHOW UP TO CLASS TO DRAW.
The lectures are very long, so you may be tempted to ditch this class. Don't. Attendance is part of your grade and there will be in class assignments needed for your final portfolio. Regarding your portfolio, I suggust you photocopy your pages along the way instead scrambling last minute. The class is really easy, just put in the effort.
Honesty this class is very easy. You won't learn anything about architecture and his lectures are long and don't pertain to architecture, but more about life. He is a really nice guy who does care about his students success. TA was very nice as well. Just do ALL the work and turn it in, regardless if it's pretty, and you will get an A!

Efthimios is a very respected architect you will learn a lot from him if you are interested in architecture. Architecture is also NOT EASY of course his class is going to require a lot of work but he makes it very entertaining and allows you to get creative, I highly recommend him he knows his stuff. Just look at his own portfolio.
Show up and draw. That's it. He likes to crack jokes... Just laugh and he'll notice you. He will probably show you a million pictures of his Bahamas project.

Efthimios' class is pretty fun. You just draw in your sketchbook each day and compile your drawings into a portfolio at the end. There are a few big projects as well, but they're fun and not too difficult. I felt that the class was disorganized--bought 3 books and didn't use any. He and the TA Alan didn't reply to my emails, but honestly--easy A.
This was the most boring class I've ever taken. If you want an easy A, take this class but you will sit in class doodling for an entire semester. Do not buy any of the textbooks. I would suggest taking this class with a friend
Don't take this class if you're not interested in Architecture. You will get bored and the architecture students will find you annoying. You will hate this class. Professor Efthimios is a great teacher who knows what he's talking about. Do the work and you'll be fine. The lectures are great and not boring if you are truly interested.
I loved this class, definitely one of the best professors I have ever had. Hes an awesome person and teacher, he has great intentions and ideas. He is a great instructor but not your usual professor which is great. His lectures are informational and while he might not like your phone out he makes the class go by quickly. He is very understanding if anything happens in your life and might need some extra help. Efthimios has a deep understanding of Architecture and design.
Efthimios made lectures fun. This class is more theory and literal introduction to architecture. LOTS of drawing. He wants a few pages of sketches per class. He was very tangential and had a lot of "life lessons" during lectures. Projects are easy if you try, he doesn't want them perfect, he just wants effort. (ARCH 121)

Efthimios is a very passionate teacher that is not only there to teach you about architecture but also about life. He has very fun classes and even though I took it very early in the morning I could count on this class being very fun and interesting. The projects can be time-consuming and can require a lot of thinking.
Efthimios is an amazing teacher. He doesn't give a lot of homework, and there are only about 3-4 projects in the semester. All you do is show up to class and sketch and you'll get an A.
I have heard many good things about Efthimios, but that just was not the case for me. The class was very disorganized. If you like to draw then this is the class for you. You feel somewhat distant in this class. You are often left with the feeling of why did I take this class to do the fine arts requirement.
Prof Efthimios knows that this class makes you learn nothing, something you will hear from him near the end of semester. If you love to draw or not, just do the work and get one of the most easiest A ever possible. Literally nothing happens in the class but the prof tries to make it more comic.
Maniatis is one of the best professors at UNM's School of Architecture. Many students take his course for an easy-A elective credit, but if you are a student in the program, he is an inspirational professor. In comparison from Maniatis to other Arch. Professors, he's easily got them beat. You never regret going to his class, as you would others
Professor Maniatis is really nice and funny. Three textbooks are "required" for the class. They were only used for one midterm assignment which if you can, barrow someone's or look for them at the library. The class lacks structure, grades aren't uploaded, assignment requirements are unclear (possibly TAs fault). Attendance is taken sometimes
He is a good professor. This is a great class to get a fine arts credit. I thought it was going to be hard but it wasn't it was pretty fun. Everyday we make sketches on the lectures so you are drawing all the time. We have some big projects where you need to buy a little bit of material. You make a portfolio of your work at the end. Takes attendance and doesn't really use learn or email so show up. He is super kind and funny and actually interesting but lectures can be long and boring. Just do the projects and you'll get an easy A because there's not regular homework, quizzes, or tests.
Prof. Maniatis is a very cool and funny guy. Although his lectures can be quite drawn out and boring along with his weekly assignments of 8 sketchbook pages can kind of get in the way and at times just become overwhelming. Watch out for the sketchbook pages kids.
Prof. Maniatis was a nice person and seemed to care about his students, but I would not recommend taking his class online. He never answered emails, the syllabus was not consistent with the modules, and he had old TA's listed so you could not get in contact with anyone if you had questions. Modules also were not updated, so due dates were wrong.
He's funny and full of positivity, I find him and his lectures inspiring, I always got great feedback!
Dude is a king. Easy class and made you want to draw. I see some good reviews and some bad, but honestly thing class was pretty good compared to the other architect classes here.
While he has an accent his class is super fun and made me fall in love with my major even more.

Professor just wants to share his experiences in class. I appreciate this, the primary assignment is to sketch and at the end of the semester you submit your portfolio. Going to class regularly helps you meet the weekly requirements, materials were posted online and the GA's were helpful with all of my questions. Great personality, you learn a lot

Look it is not that the class is particularly difficult, it is just barley related to architecture. The work is not conceptually hard to grasp just tedious. He spent the first few weeks talking about design and drawing things, if I wanted to take a drawing class I would've taken one. Lectures are boring but not mind numbing.
Super nice, laidback guy. Doesn't grade based on skill. Most of the class is drawing. I expected designing and making plans, but hearing his stories, seeing examples of architecture, making a few models, and drawing what I saw did help me understand architecture better. Do not stress about this class. Just show up, sign in, and have a good time.
The majority of the class is drawing. You will build a few models, and sketch. Don't be concerned about this class. He simply wants to share his life experiences. You present your portfolio at the end of the semester. Going to class on a regular basis helps you fulfill the weekly requirements, and materials are available online.
One of the easiest A's you will receive. As long as you draw during the lectures while he is talking and showing you designs, there is not much else to it. You will build 1 or two crafts, neither takes more than 30 mins or so to complete. He is very passionate and wants you to succeed in life and is excited to tell you numerous funny stories.
WOW! amazing professor this class was so educational and inspirational. Just go to class and you will do just fine and probs will get an A+ just do 3 models, draw in sketchbook, do 2 assignments in semester and thats all. Just make sure to do them and you will most likely get full credit as long as you make an attempt.Great way to get art credit!
I took the online class, it was very disorganized.
Goes off topic a lot. No 2 lectures will ever be the same. Nice genuine guy. He seems very philosophical as a person. Draw 8 pages a week. Do like 3 projects. Make a final portfolio. Take if you want an easy A/B
Overall, the class is fun! You are not graded by skill or your ability to draw "well." If you turn in all your assignments on time, show participation, and turn in the final portfolio, you will get an A. TAs are helpful and provide feedback. Efthimios is a very great professor and is very passionate.
Lots of homework in one week. Makes an elective very time-consuming. Easy class, just submit things as best you can on time. Only took it for requirements and am glad it was easy.
There is ZERO structure to this class, don't get me wrong the dude is a nice guy and all but as a stem major that was interested in a class outside of my major I was super disappointed and would not take again. The lectures always go off topic and are pointless. Again this all leads to structure and that is my main complaint.

Great professor, easy A course. Really fun and a nice way to take your mind off of other hard classes for a little bit! You just sketch the entire class, 4-8 pages need to be submitted on canvas each week. There's like 3-4 physical projects, one quick essay, 5-6 drawing assignments to do outside of class, and a final portfolio. Great Gen-Ed.
He was a good professor, although I wished I learned more about architecture. His class was more about understanding design and how to create something! Every two weeks you have an in-class assignment, and turn it in physically, the final is very simple, all your work is copied and turned into a portfolio.
Although this professor was very strict with phones, his class was exciting. He tends to rant about literally anything and never dismisses class early. However, he was very inspiring and went on to teach more than just architecture. His class was quite easy and I enjoyed attending.
Almost want to switch to ARCH as my major.
He is a modern art teacher, not an architecture teacher. not a proper professor for the job, only half way through the term he stated he taught us everything. he clearly has a passion for lecture, honestly would be a phenomenal modern art teacher, in that field he would be one of the best professors here flat out. just not a good arch professor
Do not take this class. Professor never reads email and TAs never do their work. The syllabus was from 2021 spring semester and did not change it. TA will stress you so bad sending email about absence and during the class they act like they are monitoring students.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS you will regret it. TAs are so weird.
This was a surprisingly enjoyable class, even as a non-architecture major. The professor is passionate and provides a lot of freedom to explore design. With unstuck study and the free textbook, I was able to ace the course without too much stress.
The way the class is structured is very confusing, and even when you actively listen and participate in the class you're still always confused
Class was fairly easy, only had to make about 3-4 pages of notes and drawings per lecture, couple outside of class assignments, and a few large projects. Class often went off topic, prompts for assignments and projects were a bit convoluted but easy. Fine for non-majors (easy A elective) not sure how effective for Arch majors.
Efthimios is a great professor, he is so funny and makes his lectures enjoyable. Honestly, for this course, it depends on the TAs that you receive, as they are the ones who manage your canvas and grade. The TAs will determine part of your experience with turning in work, it can make or break depending on how you get it. But Efthimios is amazing.

The TA's I had were completely useless. Multiple emails went unanswered, grading was unclear and extremely untimely, and Canvas was a trainwreck. Efthimios is funny, kind, and an amazing mentor for those genuinely interested in architecture but completely uninvolved in Canvas/grading. Avoid unless an architecture student.
Efthimios is wonderful, smart, passionate and caring. Due to a schedule issue he was only in class one day a week. We had 8 assignments which required lots of time and crafting materials. It was expensive. TAs were awful and unresponsive. Final portfolio requires many more drawings than you will have from lecture and work. Would not recommend
TA's are weird, if you email them they will get back to you 3 weeks later. I only found 1 of 5 TA's helpful. They don't do much other then awkwardly pace around the class acting like they're in an art museum staring at your sketches. Efthimios is an absolute joy to be around, so I guess he cancels out the bad.
Canvas not run by the actual teacher and used for the online class as well as the in-person class. TA's are the most unhelpful people they could find. Lots of assignments were given out on a whim in class and canvas is never seen by the teacher himself.
He is a very energetic professor who loves his job, you can tell. I had this class at 11am and he was often late or didn't show up. Also, the GA's handled the entire canvas and submissions were pretty confusing since he never touched the canvas page. Overall it's an easy class and it's easy to get a good grade.
Overall a great professor, the TA's can be hard to get ahold of when you need them. He does have a rule in class where you need to give them half a page on why you are leaving early. He is very funny and makes the class interesting and worth it.
He was surprisingly absent a lot, which made us rely on TA's that were hard to get ahold of and seemed to have a hard time organizing the class. Monitoring attendance was a mess for like half a semester. I found myself lost a lot and I was honestly sad I could not enjoy the class more because Professor Maniatis is a very passionate individual.
Doesn't speak good English but he tries. He is sweet and funny. He is strict about phone usage &paying attention. All you do is draw and make maybe 3 models during the semester. It was a fun class but I never went because I had harder classes and other priorities (my bad). Just draw every day during class and then give him a copy at the end.
The class was fairly easy but when it came to turning in assignments it became a lot more difficult than it needed to be, especially since they required all photos be turned into pdfs which was a pain having to do every time. I also wish the projects were more spread out and the instructions more clearly explained.
This class was easy. They give grace for late assignments and are understanding about it. The one thing that sucked was having to put all photos in a single PDF but once you figure out how to do it its pretty easy to submit.
